From witnessing the mesmerizing performances of the royal drummers to seeing the source of the Nile, every moment was filled with cultural richness and natural beauty. Augustine Tours was an exceptional tour company, providing seamless organization and impeccable service throughout our journey. We felt well taken care of and immersed in the vibrant tapestry of Burundian culture. Our guide was truly outstanding, offering deep insights into the history, traditions, and landscapes of Burundi. His passion for his country was contagious, enhancing our appreciation for every stop along the way. Without a doubt, we highly recommend Augustine Tours to anyone seeking an authentic and enriching exploration of Burundi, as well as the other countries where they offer tours. Thank you for an unforgettable adventure! Read more Written April 6, 2024
  • Frank K 0 contributions 5.0 of 5 bubbles A Wonderful Tour of Burundi My wife and I had a wonderful 7 days tour of Burundi with Augustin Tours. From the beginning, Augustine Ndikuriyo, the owner of the company quickly answered all of our questions and made us comfortable with our decision to go ahead with this tour. Our guide/driver, Mr. Hypolite, was very cheerful and helpful. We enjoyed talking with him during the tour and learned a lot about Burundi. We felt very lucky to have him as our guide. The hotels and restaurants chosen by Augustin Tours were the best available in the country. We were well taken care of. Burundi is a little known country. It does not get many tourists. We only met one other tourist during our 7 days in the country. That actually made the trip feel more special. Burundi is a poor country with a troubled past, but currently things seem to be going well. The Burundian people are very welcoming. They seemed sincerely interested in meeting us. Despite its poverty the country feels like one of the safest in the world. We saw no evidence of crime during our tour of the country. Of the 27 African countries we have visited, Burundi and Comoros made us feel the most comfortable. Burundi is not a good destination for an African wildlife safari. It’s densely populated with people and has only a few small national parks. But it’s a wonderful destination for its scenic beauty. Lush, green vegetation is everywhere. The rugged mountains are absolutely spectacular. We had walks in Kibira National Park and Rumonge Nature Reserve where we saw monkeys, butterflies, and interesting birds. We saw hippos during a boat ride on the Rusizi River, another national park. Highlights of Burundi are the world famous Gishora Drum Sanctuary, the Agasimbo Dancers, Karera Falls, the Source of the Nile River, and the extensive tea plantations. Burundi and Augustine Tours exceeded our expectations. Read more Written June 20, 2023
  • Virgo S 0 contributions 4.0 of 5 bubbles It was beautiful Experience I enjoyed my 5 days trip to Burundi organized by Augustine Tours. I was received and taken good care of Hypolite. Seeing the beautiful Bujumbura town, visiting Rusisi National Park, Source of the Nile and the water falls in Musenyi, and the highlight was seeing the local traditional dancing and drumming in Gishora Gitenga. • Frankfurt-Westend 0 contributions 5.0 of 5 bubbles Excellent Tour Operator in East Africa Augustine Tours ensured every single detail of my trip in East Africa (Rwanda, Uganda, DRC and Burundi) was carefully (and wisely) organized. Based on their experience, they can guide you to customize one of their basic itineraries to focus on your own priorities. They always engage into an efficient communication as well. I am totally satisfied with Augustine and his team. My local guides were Eugene and Hypolite: outstanding performance from both of them! I highly recommend Augustine Tours. • JochenKemmerCAFE 0 contributions 4.0 of 5 bubbles Great guide! Very professional, but expensive Did a customized, fully packed 2-day tour with Augustine Tours. We went to the source of Nile, the waterfalls, Gitega, Rusizi and Kibiri National Park. Whilst the source of Nile and Karera waterfalls are not spectacular as itself, the Drum show and the walk in the Kibiri National park was though! The landscapes are beauttiful! The highlight of the trip though was the guide Hippolite, whom I can highly recommend. A very nice, gentle, professional and customer focused guide, who can share a lot of knowledge about Burundi. The only negative thing is that the price was expensive for a (full-packed) two-day tour Read more Written September 26, 2019
  • ceg51 0 contributions 4.0 of 5 bubbles Great visit to Uganda, Rwanda and Burundi We did a 15 day trip to Uganda, Rwanda and Burundi with Augustine Tours. The itinerary was excellent, the hotels well thought out with choices and the trip moved very smoothly. We had the same driver, Eugene, for the 12 days in Uganda and Rwanda. He really made the trip because he was so courteous, and looked after the little things. Like he cleaned the car (which was in great shape and had A/C) every night! We set a plan each evening for the next day and he was always ready early. Travel in those countries is not easy but he was great at finding restaurants and bathrooms that were clean, and he was good at suggesting changes to the itinerary if we were short on time. Augustin was great at answering questions and staying in touch before and during the trip. If I did it over again I would cut one day from Burundi because that country does not have good museums that we experienced and the best thing were the Gishora Drum sanctuary. We had a different driver in Burundi but same car and we did not connect as well but he also did a good job. I would certainly recommend Augustine Tours for those Uganda, Rwanda and Burundi. Again the itinerary was perfect and included thoughtful and unusual items in addition to the usual gorilla and chimpanzee trekking which were awesome. We also book a week in Tanzania with them but they outsourced it to another Safari company BMS Safari. That part did not work out and I wish Augustine Tours would have told me they were outsourcing it and I would have selected another tour operator. During the difficulties in Tanzania which related to a bad vehicle and driver/ guide that did not speak English, Augustin followed up with me via email and contacted the safari company ( unfortunately no positive outcome resulted) but he assured me he will find another vendor for Tanzania. We had done lots of research on the genocide in Rwanda and the current situation in Burundi and this tour gave us a very in depth look at each of these countries. We saw beautiful wildlife and had varied experiences and a terrific time seeing this part of the world. But many thanks to Eugene for going the extra mile and Augustin for a great itinerary. • RyanTYZ 0 contributions 5.0 of 5 bubbles Professional and best value for money tour! We would like to thank Augustine and Kelly for their prompt and responsive service from the pre-planning stage of planning the best sequence of places to visit to maximise our time as well as accommodating our requests for special diet (vegetarian) and ensure our safety and wellbeing at all times. We had a great time with their company. We did a customised private tour for Rwanda, Uganda and Burundi to visit all the highlights and cool places offered by each unique country. Transfer and crossing borders was a breeze with Kelly arranging everything carefully for us. All in all, we did game drive, city tours, gorilla trekking, visit to genocide museum, churches and markets and the tour package quoted was very reasonable! We have travelled to other parts of Africa (Kenya and Tanzania) and know that the English language may be a barrier for some tour operators but Augustine Tours did not have this problem as Kelly and our Tour Guide spoke perfect english and was very knowledgeable on the many things in the different countries. We also research many tour agencies for this trip and Augustine Tours had the best deal and package. Definitely value for money and good professional standard. I would highly recommended them to all who want to visit Rwanda, Uganda and Burundi. Start planning early especially if you are travelling during peak period to see the Gorillas as they would need to reserve the entrance admission ticket in advance. Happy Travels!! • GaryFlorida 0 contributions 5.0 of 5 bubbles EXTREMELY good, reputable tour operator for Burundi In March of 2018 I arranged a private 4 day tour of Burundi highlights; Augustine Tours was exceptional. The price was very fair for value received, the hotel in Bujumbura, the Club du Lac Tanganyika, was best in the entire area. My guide/driver Chris was punctual, with an excellent 4WD vehicle and very good driving skills. All promised sites were visited. I would definitely book with them again, and would recommend them to friends and readers of this review ! Read more Written March 6, 2019

  • Ania_at_TravelBred 0 contributions 5.0 of 5 bubbles Excellent Service in a Naturally Beautiful Country I arranged a customized one-night, two-day program with Augustine Tours. Finding a reputable (and responsive) tour operator for Burundi was near impossible. So, when I came across Augustine Tours, I was ecstatic. From the planning/booking process to the trip itself, I only received excellent customer service. Kelly was very patient with me when I tossed around ideas for my two days allocated to visiting the country. She responded to my emails within a day (to this day, I still have never heard back from the other tour companies that I had contacted). On the last day of my tour, she even followed up with me to ensure all went well. The tour itself was excellent. I can thank my guide Hypolite Niyongabo for that. He picked me up from the airport on time and made sure I was comfortable and happy throughout the long drives over the two days. I would highly recommend using Augustine Tours for your time in Burundi. Read more Written November 29, 2018

  • Howardrpets 0 contributions 5.0 of 5 bubbles Why Burundi? Because it’s the “Heart of Africa”! As I was planning a tour of eastern Africa, I looked at the map, and thought, “hmmm, Burundi?”. I was solo after 6 weeks with friends, and my goal was a few days to just explore real Africa. I couldn’t get into the DRCongo, due to tourist abductions, park closure and the dreaded Ebola virus. I looked up “short tours of Burundi”, and I came upon Augustin Tours. I read reviews, and saw they did a quickie 2 day tour, that included a stay at the nice resort on Lake Tanganyika, called Club du Lac Tanganyika. It looked nice, and it was perfect. The tour guide was named “Hypolite” (interesting, but great name), and he was the sweetest, well educated, trust worthy tour guide you could ever hope for. Do yourself a favor and ask for him. His love of country, and concern for your comfort and big sweet Burundian smile will definitely make your trip to Burundi very memorable! I enjoyed driving all over Burundi with him, and enjoyed sharing meals with him, and feel I made a good Burundian friend! The tour was great, well planned and included my favorite event of my entire African trip....to see and behold the amazing Burundian drummers (just wait!) I can not recommend Augustin tours and especially, Hypolite, more. Augustin answered all of my pre tour questions immediately. I was a bit nervous to go to a “less traveled, lesser known” African country, but I am SOOOO GLAD I WENT! Read more Written September 24, 2018
