1. Monasterio de Tarlac

Established in 2001, the monastery was built 300 meters uphill on the Zambales Mountain Range at Mount Resurrection Eco Park, Barangay Lubigan, San Jose, Tarlac. With its beautiful landscape and scenery, the Monasterio de Tarlac has become a sanctuary for reflecting and reconnecting faith.

In addition to its beauty, the monastery is popular for having a 30 feet tall colossal statue of the Risen Christ similar to Brazil’s Christ the Redeemer statue. The monastery also holds a piece the Relic of the True Cross that was believed to be dug by St. Helena from the Calvary Hill, Jerusalem, and later on, passed to Germany and brought to the Philippines.

How to get to Monasterio de Tarlac

To get to Monasterio de Tarlac, take the SCTEX (Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway). When you reach Hacienda Luisita, take the exit and turn right onto MacArthur Highway towards the city center. Along the way, you’ll pass by SM City Tarlac. Just before reaching SM, you’ll notice a sign pointing towards the monastery, but don’t take that turn yet.

Keep following the road until you pass SM City Tarlac. Continue straight after the junction with McDonald’s and Mercury Drug on your left. Eventually, you’ll come across another McDonald’s. Turn left at that junction, and then follow the signs you see along the way.

Once you cross the bridge over the Tarlac River, make a left turn at the next intersection. From there, simply follow the road signs directing you to Monasterio De Tarlac.

2. Tarlac Recreational Park

For adrenaline junkies and fun-filled family adventures with friends or family, visit the Tarlac Recreational Park. The 78-hectare park offers a wide range of outdoor activities and is filled with different amenities such as a football field, race track, ovals, two large kids’ swimming pools, and an Olympic-size swimming pool. They also have pavilions, cottages, a sound system, barbeque grills, tables, and chairs that can be rented throughout the day.

And if you’re quite adventurous, you can try their Dune Buggy and ride an ATV navigating bumpy off-road tracks. Tarlac Recreational Park features other challenging activities like airsoft, mountain biking, fishing, kayaking, and zipline. For overnight trips, visitors can rent camping tents and enjoy sky gazing.

How to get to Tarlac Recreational Park

Tarlac Recreational Park is located in San Jose, Tarlac. To get there, take the Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway (SCTEx). Take Exit 118 and continue to Luisita Access Road in Tarlac City.

3. Capas National Shrine

A historic landmark in the province, the Capas National Shrine is the exact area where the Bataan Death March ended. The site was a former concentration camp, that now serves as a monument for the Allied forces of around 60,000-80,000 US and Filipino soldiers, as well as Czechs and Slovaks, who fought with the Japanese in 1942 at the Battle of Bataan during World War II.

The Capas National Shrine was built by the Philippine Government to remember the deaths of thousands of soldiers at Camp O’Donnell who were forced to walk over 83 kilometers, from Mariveles and Bagac, up to San Fernando.

The shrine features 54 hectares of parkland containing memorials for the dead, a 70-meter obelisk, and 3 memorial walls where the names of Filipino and American soldiers who died back then were engraved. The walls also have engraved poems of peace and a statistical count of total imprisoned people by the Japanese.

4. Bulsa River

Another must-visit for the adrenaline junkies, Bulsa River is a 12.5-kilometer stream, running for about 3 to 4 hours, ideal for kayaking. It is rated as a Class II river, offering the perfect excitement for novice kayakers, with its smooth to slightly rapid flow and clear routes in between rocks.

Bulsa River is operated by the professional team of Rapid Stream Ecotours, ensuring that adventurers are safe and complete with essential gears. To reach the twin falls, cross the Nambalan River for 20 minutes and trek for about 4 hours to reach the Kawayan campsite. Rest for the night, and trek again the next day to reach ANZAP Twin Falls.

7. Mount Telakawa

Other than river adventures, Tarlac boasts the majestic beauty of Mount Pinatubo that erupted back in 1991. 8. Aquino Center Museum

For history enthusiasts, visit the Aquino Center Museum situated at Hacienda Luisita, San Miguel to learn and recollect Philippine history. The facility was designed by Francisco Manosa, a renowned Filipino architect, and built to pay tribute to the late couple Senator Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino Jr. and President Corazon “Cory” Aquino for fighting for Philippine democracy.

The 10-hectare pasture was established in 2001 and is a family-operated business that started as a hobby. The founders Jeffrey and Kathleen first had not more than 10 goats and now breeds around 300 goats and sheep, including Dorpers, Anglo Nubian, Boar, British Alpines, and Saanen.

10. Mount Damas

If you’re looking for extreme outdoor activity, hiking up Mount Damas is the place to go. Mount Damas is one of the most picturesque mountains and a major hiking spot in Tarlac. The hike will take about 1-2 days or 4-5 hours, and will involve trekking at steep routes, rivers, rappelling down a waterfall, and crossing roped segments to the site. It is also rated with 6/9 difficulty to hike up Mount Damas, measuring 685 meters above sea level. So ensure that you’re all geared up before hiking.

There are also rivers along the trail, nipa huts for resting and has a scenic view of the Central Luzon Mountains. Mount Damas is accessible through San Clemente Dueg Resettlement, the major jumpoff point, or can be accessed at the alternate route at Barangay Papaac, Camiling Tarlac.

A must-stop for all hikers heading to Mount Damas, Ubod Falls is a 120-foot tall straight waterfall hidden in the mountain. To reach the site, follow the river track upstream where you will see two small waterfalls. The one is shorter and the taller curvy one is known as Si-el Falls.

It will require climbing rope segments on the left side of Si-el Falls to reach Ubod Falls, which will be challenging for the less physically fit. From Si- el Falls, it will take around 15 minutes to witness the enchanting beauty of Ubod Falls. This spot is the perfect place to cool off and enjoy a dip from the cold water before heading down the jumpoff point.

Mount Pinatubo is one of the most popular nature hikes in the Philippines. This active volcano laid dormant for 600 years until its violent eruption in 1991. It produced million tons of gas cloud into the stratosphere, which even temporarily lowered the global temperature by 1°F.

This active stratovolcano is located on the tripoint boundary of Zambales, Tarlac, and Pampanga. Via Tarlac, the jump-off point to Mount Pinatubo can be found at Barangay Sta. Juliana in Capas. From here, you need to ride a 4×4 vehicle, passing by barren landscapes and Aeta communities along the way. Then you need to trek the rest of the way to the crater lake of Mount Pinatubo.

Monasterio de Tarlac is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Tarlac. It is not only frequented by residents who attend the mass but also by tourists who are interested in its surrounding view.

Built in 2001, this monastery stands atop the Mount Resurrection Eco Park, which is part of the Zambales mountain range. Here you can appreciate the surrounding plains and mountains and take photos in the 30-feet statue of Jesus Christ, which is similar to the statue of Christ the Redeemer in Brazil.

Aside from these, Monasterio de Tarlac also holds a relic of the True Cross , which is purportedly the wooden cross on which Jesus Crist was crucified. Brought from Germany to the Philippines, the relic is now enshrined in the monastery chapel where it is touched by the faithful after every mass. Twice a year, the relic is taken out for open veneration to commemorate its enshrinement and to celebrate the anniversary of the Servants of the Risen Christ Monastic Community.

The 78-hectare Tarlac Recreational Park is ideal for those who love adventure and families who want to bond together through fun outdoor activities.

You can rent out pavilions and cottages for day trips, as well as facilities such as BBQ grill. This park has different sports facilities you can use including an Olympic-sized swimming pool, two swimming pools for kids, a race track, an oval, and a football field. If you want to head out there, there are also dune buggies and ATVs available for off-road adventures, a lagoon for fishing and kayaking, a biking trail, an airsoft ground, and other activities such as zipline.

The Tarlac Recreational Park isn’t just for day activities. You can stay overnight by renting one of the camping tents and enjoy the outdoor sky at night.

Kart City Tarlac (KCT) is one of the most popular Tarlac tourist spots. It’s ideal for thrill-seekers and those who are looking for entertainment in the city.

This amusement park features a wide 700-meter racing cart track. Whether it’s your first time to try go-kart racing or you’re an experienced driver who want to compete in the racing activities, this site is for you.

Aside from the go-kart track, the park also has a billiards room, KTV room, and a restaurant that serves delicious food.

If you’re interested in WW2 History, then you should visit Capas National Shrine in Tarlac. This is part of the WW2 loop tour done in Pampanga, Bataan, and Tarlac, offered by selected tour agencies.

Capas National Shrine is a 54-hectare memorial park built in honor of the Filipino and American soldiers who died at Camp O’Donell towards the end of the Death March. Here you can find a 70-meter-tall obelisk, built to signify peace and unity among Filipinos, Americans, and Japanese, and three marble walls engraved with the names of the fallen soldiers.

You can also visit a museum and a small monument built by the Battling Bastards of Bataan.

This is one of the lesser-known tourist attractions in Tarlac, but someplace that history lovers will want to visit.

The Bamban Museum of History is a small private museum owned by Rhonie dela Cruz, whose grandfather and uncles fought in the Battle at Bamban Hills during the WW2. It houses old and new photographs, including the local war veterans and the indigenous people who fought with their fellow Filipinos, as well as various artifacts including artillery, helmets, and uniforms.

Aside from it being a resource for history, the owner also shares personal stories about the war and his conversations with both Filipino and Japanese war veterans and their surviving relatives.

Tarlac has several waterfalls, perhaps the most famous of which is the Anzap Twin Falls. The Anzap Twin Falls is composed of two streams coming from the Matibya and Piccan Rivers, both measuring about 200 feet high.

Here you can appreciate the beauty of the waterfalls, which is one of the few twin falls in the country. You can also see interesting local flora and fauna, as well as forest trails.

The twin falls is tucked behind the ANZAP (ASEAN-New Zealand Afforestation Program) in Mayantoc, Tarlac. Getting here is challenging, as the roads are not yet developed. From Mayantok, it will take you about 5 hours of trekking. Alternatively, if you’re coming from San Jose, you can drive across rough roads and then trek for 30 min to 1 hour to reach the waterfall.

The Aquino Center Museum is ideal for people who love history. It was built as a tribute to the late senator Benigno Aquino Jr. and his wife the late president Corazon Aquino, who fought hard to restore the democracy in the country after a 20-year dictatorship of Ferdinand Marcos.

The museum houses artwork, memorabilia, and photographs of the Aquino Family. Most notably, it also houses the jacket that Benigno Aquino Jr. wore when he was assassinated, still stained in blood.

The Aquino Center Museum is located at Hacienda Luisita in San Miguel, Tarlac. It is managed by the Ninoy and Cory Aquino Foundation.

If you’re looking for a nature attraction that is easily accessible, try visiting Canding Falls in San Clemente, Tarlac. It is a multi-tiered waterfall, with the main pool for swimming as deep as 20 feet. There are cottages and tables for rent nearby, so you can stay for a while, enjoy the cool water in the basins, and even cliff jump in certain spots.

From the jump-off point in San Clemente, it only takes around 20 minutes of trekking to reach Canding Falls. Its easy access makes it a popular local destination especially during hot days.

Ubod Falls is said to be one of the most beautiful waterfalls in Tarlac. Located within the wilderness in San Clemente, it stands about 160 feet high with a basin good for swimming and a cliff that is a potentially good site for rappelling.

It’s recommended to visit here only if you are physically fit, as the route is challenging. First, you need to trek following a river upstream and then climb up the rope segments of Si-el Falls, one of the two small waterfalls in the area. From there, trek for another 15 minutes to get to Ubod Falls.

Mount Damas is a popular hiking destination in Tarlac due to its scenic views. Its peak is situated 685 meters above sea level, offering panoramic 360-degree views of the plains and mountain ranges of Tarlac and Pangasinan .

It’s located within the borders of the towns of Mayantoc, Camiling, and San Clemente. The jump-off point is located at Dueg Settlement in San Clemente (or alternatively at Barangay Papaac in Camiling), and the trek from the jump-off point to the summit takes about 7 hours. Some mountaineers do this as a day climb, while some opt for an overnight hike to witness the sunrise and sea of clouds (similar to Mount Pulag ) and to do a side trip to Ubod Falls.

Although the mountain is relatively small, the activity is still considered a major hike due to difficult trails. You need to trek, do river crossings, rock rappelling, and 45- to 60-degree ascent and descent via bamboo ridges. The trail is even more challenging when it is wet and muddy.

Mount Telakawa is another favorite hiking destination in Tarlac. It is located at the foot of Mount Pinatubo with a summit elevation of 645 meters above sea level, which offers breathtaking views of the volcanic mountain, lahar fields, and woodlands.

The mountain derived its word from “telakawa,” which means a pot placed upside down due to its shape. Its trail is mostly similar to that going to Mount Pinatubo, except that it is preferred by those who are up to a more challenging hike.

To get here, you need to pass through a river and the lahar fields in Crow Valley, with the option to meet with the Aeta community in Sitio Daig. Then you need to follow a gradually ascending trek amidst tall grasses to reach the summit. Most hikers camp at the summit for an overnight hike, so they can witness an amazing sunrise.

Want to see and interact with farm animals? JSJ Goat Farm is a family-owned business located in a sprawling 10-hectare property in Barangay Caruray in Gerona, Tarlac. This farm is home to various pure-bred goats that originated from the United States and Australia, which produce top-quality fresh milk and milk products such as cheese.

Here you can go on a day tour to see the goats and sheeps, understand the farming process, and see how milking is done. You can also buy some of their products, including milk bottles, feta cheese, and kesong puti.

Bulsa River white water rafting is the perfect activity for those who love to experience awesome adventures. Here you can experience kayaking along the 12.5-kilometer length of Bulsa River, starting from the mountain village of Maamot and then to the greeneries and towns in San Jose before proceeding to more intense parts of the river.

The activity lasts about 3-4 hours. The river rapids are classified as Class II, meaning they are smooth and gentle to moderately quick, so they are perfect for beginner kayakers. Here you can kayak while appreciating the surrounding mountains and even wildlife (including swimming carabaos) and then stop over to swim, cliff jump, and stone jump.

Bulsa River white water rafting is only open during the rainy season.

Saipan Beach is a picturesque river bank found in San Jose, Tarlac. You can do a short stop-over here after visiting Monasterio de Tarlac, which is just 15 minutes away.

CAPAS: Monument of Heroism and Tourism

Capas was originally a town of Pampanga. It became one of the seven towns covered by the Politico-Military Commandancia in 1858 and became a town of the newly created province of Tarlac in 1873. At that time, Capas consisted of three barrios, namely: Murcia, Moriones, and O’Donnell.

Early residents of the town were mostly Kapampangans coming from the nearby towns of Pampanga. Later, migrants from Ilocos and Zambales also came to live in Capas

The oldest religious mission in the province was established in Capas as early as 1710. The Recollects must have founded it, judging from its patron saint, St. Nicholas of Tolentino, and a friar of the Recollect Order. The Augustinians, in fact, were active in the area since April 27, 1594.

Local government records indicate that Capas was created in 1712 and is among the oldest towns in the province of Tarlac. Its creation was justified by numerous settlements, which were already established in the riverbanks of Cutcut River since the advent of the 18th century. The settlements belonged to the domain of Pagbatuan and Gudya, the two villages unified by Capitan Mariano Capiendo when he founded the municipality. Due to the floods that frequently inundated the Cutcut riverbanks, the town was relocated to the upper area where it is now permanently established.

Etymologically, Capas derived its name from the vine capas capas, whose edible flowers are used as condiment for pinakbet. Another version indicates that the town took its name from a cotton tree, which is called capas (Ceiba pentandra Linn.) among the Ilocanos, bulak or kapok among the Kapampangans

Capas hosts the United States Naval Military Station until the Americans abandoned it during the powerful Mt. Pinatubo eruption in 1991.

Similarly, it is the terminal point of the infamous Death March during the Second World War. The Capas Concentration Camp was originally established as Camp O’Donnell in 1940. The camp served as the prison site to more than 40,000 Filipino soldiers and 9,000 American soldiers who were prisoners of war of the Japanese invaders. About 30,000 of these prisoners died of diseases and severe starvation. In this concentration camp, the dead soldiers were simultaneously buried in single and shallow graves. The obelisk of the Capas Shrine entombs the names of the unsung heroes of World War II who died fighting for freedom.

Capas is blessed with natural resources that brim with beauty and splendor. It is the gateway to the sensational Mount Pinatubo that buried the town with thick ashes in 1991. Today, the volcano’s river is a must to see by tourists.

Capas is a municipality in the southern part of Tarlac . It encompasses a wide area stretching from the rugged foothills of Mount Pinatubo, to the wide and densely populated floodplains surrounding the Tarlac River.

Dubbed the "Tourism Capital of Tarlac", Capas is known as the endpoint of the infamous Death March during World War II , and is the jumping point for treks to Mount Pinatubo, which have its devastating eruption in 1991.

Used to be the homeland of the dominant Kapampangan and the indigenous Aeta tribes, Capas has left its mark on history. Founded as a town in 1711 by the Augustinian friars, Capas has seen one of the most gruesome acts by the Japanese during World War II, the Death March, where surrendered Filipino and American soldiers were brought by train to Camp O'Donnell, an American military camp turned into a concentration camp by the invading Japanese.

While still largely rural, Capas is more close to a small city, and has grown much to overshadow Tarlac City . The rural parts of the municipality near Mount Pinatubo's foothills is the site of New Clark City (NCC), a planned development patterned after Putrajaya in Malaysia and New Songdo City in South Korea. Started in 2016 as Clark Green City , it will become the administrative capital of the Philippines once completed.

Being just along the main corridor between Manila, Ilocos and the Cordilleras, Capas is not hard to reach. While train service has ended in the late 1980s, many bus routes still pass through Capas town.

The nearest airport is in Angeles ( CRK  IATA ).

By bus [ edit ]

Capas is easily reached by multiple bus lines emanating out of Manila to northern Luzon. While the completion of the Subic Clark-Tarlac Expressway has largely bypassed the municipality, many buses still exit nearby at Concepcion, stop at Capas, and head north on the MacArthur Highway. Just find "via Capas" on the destination signs on the bus's windshield. If you took those with signs saying "via SCTEX", you'll miss Capas.

By car [ edit ]

Capas is within 1½-3 hours from Manila, 25 minutes from Tarlac City, and 30 minutes from Angeles.

From Manila or Angeles, take the Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX) and exit at Concepcion, where you turn left to a highway which takes you to Capas town proper.

Since 2019, a spur of SCTEX to New Clark City has been opened, making access to the Death March shrine and the jumping point to Mount Pinatubo more accessible by car.

A road connection from Zambales is being built as of 2020, but much of it is under construction. The road, beginning from the town of Botolan on the Zambales side, will be a scenic route through the foothills of Mount Pinatubo, and will connect with the existing road near the Death March shrine.

By train [ edit ]

Train service has ended since the end of the 1980s, with the tracks torn up (or stolen to build makeshift buildings, benches, and other things) and the station converted into a small museum.

A new railway line being built to serve New Clark City, but as of 2020, only a segment between Manila and Malolos is being built. The line will also connect with the airport at Clark, and a future airport in Bulacan that will replace Ninoy Aquino International Airport by the mid or late 2020s.

At the town center is the San Nicolas de Tolentino Parish which dating back to Capas's founding in 1776. The church's architecture is rather bland due to it being rebuilt from one destroyed during the war, but the parish's feast day do draws crowds. Other attractions include:

The Capas Walking Street in Tizon Drive in Santo Rosario is full of various food stalls selling street food, drinks, and other meals.

In the Philippines, tinapa refers to the process and the product of smoking fish, usually blackfin scad (galunggong) or milkfish (bangus). Barangay Talaga, in Capas is known as the Tinapa Capital of Tarlac due to its Tinapang Talaga a regional specialty created from smoking Tilapia instead of the usual blackfin scad or milkfish. Tinapang Talaga pioneered by the Capaseño family in the 1960s.

Sprawling on a 10-hectare farm, JSJ Goat Farm is a family-run business that once started from raising only native goats. By improving the quality of their product, the family has exported purebred goats from Australia and United States.

Some of the breeds they raise are Anglo Nubian, Boer, British Alpines, and Saanen, while Dorpers are sheep.

JSJ Goat Farm pioneers as goat breeders and meat producers in Tarlac. In addition, they are also producing milk products such as fresh milk, flavored kinds of milk, and a variety of cheese.

Nambalan River

Situated in Mayantoc, this place is known as the Summer Capital of Tarlac. Aside from sightseeing, you may also enjoy some swimming activity here.

Nearby San Sebastian Chapel, right at the city center is where you could find the Plazuela. It is a simple park where you could sit and relax while enjoying the sunset; there are also available food stalls if you wish to grab some food while relaxing.

Tarlac Provincial Capitol

Located at San Vicente, this building was built in 1909, making it a historical spot to visit. It had managed to stand the test of time, war, and all other past events.

Ubod Falls is in Mt. Damas in Camiling. Heading here may need some hiking at Mt. Damas. It is not a comfortable journey since it is a steep mountain, making it not suited for beginners in the field of hiking.

Maria Cristina Park

This park is the hub of families who would like to sit and relax while enjoying the afternoon vibes. Kids could run and play in the area.

The Aquino Central Museum

The history of the country during the era of the Aquino administration could be seen in this museum. It is situated in Hacienda Luisita, and it is available for a visit from 8:00 am up to 5:00 pm.

KCT Kart City

HOW TO GET FROM MANILA TO TARLAC

Getting tarlac by bus from manila.

If you are getting by bus from Manila to Tarlac. There are buses leaving from Manila to Tarlac in Pasay and Cubao. The trip will take 3-5 hours depending on the traffic.

Prices are starting at $5 USD and you can book online . The bus departure is every 30-45 minutes and there are buses with air conditioning and without. If you are coming from Manila by bus to Tarlac. The bus will stop by Angeles City: Dau or Marquee Mall .

The main buses companies going from Manila to Tarlac are Victory Liner and Five Stars getting to La Siesta Bus Terminal in Tarlac.

Once you arrive at La Siesta Bus Terminal you can go walking distance to city center just 10 minutes and less than 5 minutes walking distance to SM Tarlac.

GETTING TARLAC BY PRIVATE TRANSPORTATION

If you are getting from Manila to Tarlac by private transportation van or car. It will take you around 3 hours getting to Tarlac depending on the traffic leaving Manila.

GETTING TARLAC FROM CLARK/ANGELES

There are flight companies going to Clark like Cebu Pacific and Air Asia . You can get cheap flights from Singapore and Hong Kong. Also inside the Philippines there are cheap flights going to Coron and Cebu from Clark International Airport.

If you are coming from Clark International Airport. You will have to get Grab or a taxi going to DAU Bus Terminal. Once in DAU you will get the bus coming from Manila going to Tarlac.

1. SACRED RELIC OF THE TRUE CROSS (MONASTERIO DE TARLAC)

This sacred relic can be found in Monasterio de Tarlac, a monastery located on top of Mt. Resurrection in San Jose, Tarlac. This is one of the top Tarlac tourist spots for those who want some peaceful time to pray.

2. SAN SEBASTIAN CATHEDRAL

San Sebastian Cathedral is located in the city center, specifically in Brgy. Mabini, Tarlac. It’s also known as the Tarlac Cathedral and was opened after World War 2.

3. SANTA FAUSTINA OF THE DIVINE MERCY PARISH

Another church in Tarlac that you must visit is the Santa Faustina of the Divine Mercy Parish. It’s located at Paniqui-Anao Rd, Paniqui, Tarlac. Many people visit this church during Holy Week.

4. ST. JOSEMARIA ESCRIVA PARISH

This is also known as the Parokya ni San Josemaria Escriva or the Diocesan Shrine of St. Josemaria Escriva. It’s the first church in the Philippines dedicated to St. Josemaria Escriva. It’s located in Gerona, Tarlac.

5. LA SAGRADA FAMILIA PARISH

It is also located in Gerona, specifically in Federosa Memorial Park. During the Papal Visit in 2015, Pope Francis used the altar table of this church, making it popular to Catholics.

7. TARLAC PLAZUELA

Tarlac Plazuela is located in the city center, close to San Sebastian Cathedral. You will find people enjoying the day especially at sunset. There are street food stalls outside the park if you want to try a snack.

8. MARIA CRISTINA PARK

Maria Cristina Park is located in front of Museo de Tarlac and The Capitol. When the sun goes down, it is a great place to walk around or just relax, playing with the kids.

Located in San Jose, Tarlac, Tarlac Recreation Park or also known as Jose V. Yap Sports and Recreational Complex, offers a wide range of activities for their customers. You can set up tents here for an overnight stay and go camping and fishing. Make sure to bring your own fishing gear.

10. capas national shrine.

This is a memorial shrine built in 1991 to commemorate the Allied soldiers who died at Camp O’Donnell at the end of the Bataan Death March during the Second World War. It’s located in Brgy. Aranguren, Capas, Tarlac.

11. THE AQUINO CENTER MUSEUM

This is one of Tarlac tourist spots you should visit to know more about the history of the Philippines, especially during the 1970s and the late president Cory Aquino and her late senator husband Ninoy Aquino’s contribution to the country. It’s open from 8AM to 5PM daily and located at Hacienda Luisita, Tarlac.

12. BAMBAN MUSEUM OF HISTORY

This historical museum located in Bamban, Tarlac exhibits different photographs, personal belongings, documents, and other memorabilia of the fallen soldiers who fought the war from 1941 to 1945.

13. NINOY AQUINO MONUMENT

This is a monument honoring the late Senator Ninoy Aquino located in Tarlac City.

14. CORY MONUMENT

Just like her husband’s, this is a monument that honors the late President Cory Aquino located in Tarlac City.

15. TARLAC PROVINCIAL CAPITOL

The Tarlac Provincial Capitol that was built in 1909 is also one of Tarlac tourist spots that’s considered historical because it has seen a lot of wars and history throughout the years. It’s located on a hill Brgy. San Vicente, Tarlac.

16. MUSEO DE TARLAC

Also known as Museo ng Tarlac, this museum exhibits the arts, talent, and crafts of local artists. Currently, it also serves as the office of Tarlac Provincial Tourism. It’s located along Romulo Blvd, Tarlac City.

17. CAPAS DEATH MARCH MONUMENT

It’s also one of the historical Tarlac tourist spots that honors and commemorates the fallen soldiers of the Death March.

KCT Tarlac City is a perfect place to have fun with your friends, especially if you love Karts and/or you’re bringing kids with you. It’s located in front of SM City Tarlac. You can enjoy the karts 5 minutes for 250 PHP and it will be so much fun.

If you are visiting with kids there is a small playground. And there are also options for food in the restaurant. Prices are affordable as well.

19. VES FOOD RESORTS & VILLAS

Located in MacArthur Highway, Capas, Tarlac, VES Food Resorts boasts a wide variety of Filipino dishes, as well as exotic ones like Nilasing na Hipon, Kalderetang Ostrich (stewed ostrich), and Kangaroo Steak. It’s located at 588 Jimenez St., Sto. Domingo II, Capas, Tarlac.

WATERFALLS IN TARLAC

20. ubod falls.

Ubod Falls can be found in Mt. Damas in Camiling, Tarlac. Before you can get to Ubod Falls, you must hike Mt. Damas, which is kind of not for beginners because of its hike difficulty of 6 over 9.

21. CANDING FALLS

This beautiful paradise is definitely one of the must-visit Tarlac tourist spots. It’s located in Brgy. Maasin, San Clemente, Tarlac. It’s easy to get here. According to those who have already visited this place, you have to pay the entrance fee of 10 PHP first in Brgy. Maasin, and trek for 20 minutes to reach the beautiful waterfalls.

MOUNTAINS IN TARLAC

22. mt. pinatubo.

Mt. Pinatubo is mainly located in Pampanga, but can be viewed in Tarlac, too. It’s the most popular hiking place in the area. Trekking this mountain can be done in a day, which involves riding a 4×4 on a lahar field, and 3-hour trekking back and forth. Below are some of the price packages if you are coming from Manila:

Package 1 (from Manila to Pinatubo Crater Lake via Capas, Tarlac) – PHP 2000 to PHP 3000

23. MT. DAMAS

Like we said earlier, this is located in Camiling Tarlac, and not really an easy hike for beginners. You can reach its summit in 4-5 hours of hike, so make sure to allocate 1 to 2 days if you would like to hike this mountain. You can find the beautiful Ubod Falls here, so it’s worth it!

24. MT. TELAKAWA

Another mountain in Tarlac you can hike is the Mt. Telakawa. It stands at 630 meters above the sea level and one of the best choices for hikers who are looking for an extreme hiking experience in Tarlac.

RIVERS IN TARLAC

25. nambalan river.

One of the famous Tarlac tourist spots especially during the hot summer days is the Nambalan River. You can find it in Mayantoc, Tarlac, also known as the Summer Capital of Tarlac . Just pay PHP 10 for the entrance fee, and you can already enjoy swimming and even rafting in the river. Don’t forget to bring your own food and drinks, too!

26. BULSA RIVER

Situated in San Jose, Tarlac, Bulsa River is one of Tarlac tourist spots for those who want to experience adventure, too. This river has wild waters, with smooth and moderately quick rapids. You can do kayaking here. It’s really fun!

27. SAIPAN BEACH

Although it is called a beach, Saipan Beach is actually a river. It’s a good place where you can have snacks like Halo-Halo and rent a cottage just beside the river and enjoy the cool breeze. You can stop by at Saipan Beach after visiting the Monasterio de Tarlac, which is also located in San Jose, Tarlac.

Ylang-Ylang Center is actually a museum in Anao, Tarlac. It’s open everyday and it features a lot of Ylang-Ylang products which include perfumes, insect repellants, soaps, and other products derived from the aromatic oil of this flower.

29. JSJ GOAT FARM

This goat farm in Brgy. Caturay, Gerona, Tarlac, is a 10-hectare farm with goats and sheep. They breed goats and produce meat, milk, and cheese from their animals. It’s open to the public for touring the farm and tasting their food products.

After visiting San Sebastian Cathedral and Tarlac Plazuela, you can keep walking down F. Tanedo Street. It’s full of shops and places to eat on the way to the local market. It’s one of Tarlac tourist spots you should visit to enjoy the local vibes.

31. TARLAC LOCAL MARKET

If you love visiting local markets, you will love Tarlac local market since it’s big and easy to walk around. We have to say that we loved it more than the one in Angeles City, ha!

Cindy’s bakery & restaurant.

Although they already have several branches in the Philippines, Cindy’s Bakery & Restaurant located in Tarlac is probably the most special one because it’s the first bakery they built in 1971. They serve delicious different kinds of breads, local dishes, pastries, and many more. One of the best places where to eat in Tarlac.

URDU RESTAURANT

Another well-loved restaurant in Tarlac is Urdu Restaurant. They serve authentic Filipino dishes, cakes, empanadas and many more. Prices here are affordable too.

KING BURGER

Located in F. Tanedo Street, this is one of the favorite burger joints of the locals in Tarlac. It’s famously known as KB. They serve delicious burgers for affordable prices.

TATUN’S KAMBINGAN

Located in 7051 E Fairlane Road, Brgy. San Vicente, Tarlac City, Tatun’s Kambingan is one of the favorites of locals and tourists for yummy goat dishes. They serve other dishes too such as kampukan, kare-kare, bulanglang liempo, and angus beef steak. 

MACAPINLAC CAKEHOUSE & SHOE STORE

This store is well-known for its party needs such as cakes, pastries, sweet delicacies, balloons, pasalubongs, and many more. However, they also started selling non-food items such as flower bouquets, leather shoes, and wallets.

Kape Agape is situated in Heroes Lane, Anao, Tarlac. This is a simple cafe that serves different food such as coffee, toast, nachos, Pancit Anao, pasta dishes, and many more.

If you want to try local food, Betty’s Resto Bar will be a great choice. It’s perfect for having coffee and their sweets. There is Ube, chicharrones and more delicacies to try.

This restaurant is located in San Sebastian – San Vicente Diversion Road in Tarlac. It’s a must-visit for friends who would like to chill and eat barbecue over a few drinks.
