8 Things to Do in Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh

Are you looking for the best things to do in Cox’s Bazar? Look no further! This post features Cox’s Bazar’s most famous tourist spots.

Cox’s Bazar, in the South of Bangladesh, is home to the longest beach in the world , which is a whopping 120 km (75 mi) long. This was one of my favourite places to visit when I was backpacking in Bangladesh .

Not only are there endless stretches of deserted, sandy beaches around Cox’s Bazar, but this city is also surrounded by beautiful rice paddies and lush greenery.

But without further ado, here are the best tourist spots in Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh.

Best places to visit in Cox’s Bazar

1. cruise along marine drive.

One of my favourite things to do in Cox’s Bazar was to cruise along Marine Drive!

Marine Drive is 80 km (50 mi) long and it follows the coastline. This road will take you along beautiful landscapes on one side and the sandy beach on the other. The most famous beach along Marine Drive is Inani Beach , but there are plenty of other ones too.

You will find plenty of scooter and motorbike rental shops in Cox’s Bazar. Although renting a scooter here is more than worth it, it’s not cheap. I paid 1500 Tk for 8 hours (price non-negotiable). Though the shop I rented it at did tell me there are shops renting scooters for 1300 Tk too.

If you don’t want to rent a scooter or a bike, you can also hire a CNG for the day. This is especially handy if you’re travelling with more than two people.

2. Admire the sampan boats

Bangladesh’s traditional moon-shaped boats look as if they’re coming straight out of a pirate movie and they’re my favourite boats in the whole wide world!

You won’t find them at Cox’s Bazar’s city beach, but you will find plenty of these colourful boats along the coastline of Marine Drive. As sampan boats are still used for fishing today, you might also spot them at sea.

3. Take the motorboat to Maheshkhali Island

Maheshkhali Island is a 15-minute motorboat ride from Cox’s Bazar, and it’s a nice half-day trip from this city.

The main tourist attraction on Maheshkhali Island is the Adinath Temple, which is perched on top of Mainak Hil. This is a Hindu temple that’s dedicated to Lord Shiva. Not far from here (you just need to follow the stairs further up the hill), you will find a Buddhist pagoda as well.

Note that the ghat where the boat drops you at Maheshkhali Island was the only place in Bangladesh where the CNG and rickshaw drivers quite aggressively tried to get me to take a CNG/rickshaw, even after telling them a hundred times that I wanted to walk. Some even tried to convince me by saying the temple is 20 km (12 mi) from there, while it’s only 3 km (1.8 mi) in reality.

4. Go to Sonadia Island (Sonadia Dwip)

Although I didn’t go to Sonadia Island myself (you will read why later), I think it’s still worth mentioning in this post.

Sonadia Island is home to rare species of birds, dolphins, trees and vines. And you will also find patches of mangrove and salt marshes here.

The island is difficult to reach, though, unless you can afford to rent a private boat. If you want to go here using public transportation, you will have to take two CNGs (one for over 20 km/2 mi) and two motorboats. This is the reason why I decided to skip Sonadia Island for now.

Please respect nature and do not dump any trash if you decide to visit Sonadia Island (or any other place in the world). Sadly, people have been dumping trash on this island , which can lead to the loss of its animals and plants.

5. See the Buddha statue in Ramu

If you want to learn more about Buddhism, then Ramu is the place to be. This town is located 10 km (6 mi) from Cox’s Bazar and it’s home to a golden, 30-meter-long, lying Buddha statue.

Besides the Buddha statues, you will also find monasteries, temples, Burmese handicrafts and a rubber garden here.

6. Dine, have lunch or stay at a resort

There are plenty of beautiful resorts along Marine Drive. Though I was travelling on a budget and didn’t stay in one of these myself, I did have lunch in one of the resorts that overlook the beach.

7. Visit Saint Martin’s Island

Cox’s Bazar is the gateway to Saint Martin’s Island, which is argued to be home to Bangladesh’s most beautiful beaches.

Although I think it is possible to visit Saint Martin’s Island as a day trip from Cox’s Bazar, I think it’s better to stay there for a night or two. It takes about 5 hours to reach the island, and there aren’t many boats that go there. If my research is correct, this means that you would only have 2 to 3 hours on the island if you visit it in one day.

I didn’t visit Saint Martin’s Island this time, but according to some fellow travellers that I met in Bangladesh (who were actually the only foreign travellers I met there), it is beautiful.

8. Watch the sunset at the beach

Last but not least, a visit to Cox’s Bazar wouldn’t be complete without watching the sunset over the sea. I found a peaceful, deserted stretch of beach with sampan boats along Marine Drive, and loved watching the sunset here.

With 120 km (75 mi) of beach to choose from, it’s not difficult to find a place you can have all to yourself (if this is something you want, of course – there are busy beaches too).

Best time to visit Cox’s Bazar

The best time to visit Cox’s Bazar is during the Winter months, from November to February . This is when the weather is at its best (around 30°C during the day).

From March onwards, it starts getting hotter. Then, in April, the rainy season starts and at this time of the year, it will be very rainy, hot and humid. So this is not the best time of the year to visit Bangladesh.

How to get to Cox’s Bazar

Cox’s Bazar is located in the South of Bangladesh, 385 km (240 mi) from Dhaka, the capital, or 150 km (93 mi) from Chittagong. You can reach it from both of these cities by:

• Bus: There are many buses (AC as well as non-AC) from Dhaka and Chittagong. Cox’s Bazar is a 5-hour ride from Chittagong or a 10 to 12-hour ride from Dhaka. There’s an overnight bus for the latter.
• Train: The train from Dhaka to Cox’s Bazar takes about 9 hours. Do make sure to book your tickets in advance if you want a good seat.
• Private car: You can also reach Cox’s Bazar by private car, but this will be more expensive.

This being said, in my experience trains were always fully booked days (maybe even weeks) in advance in Bangladesh, so I’m not sure if taking the train would be the best option.

Where to stay in Cox’s Bazar

If you want to be near all of the shops and restaurants, the best place to stay in Cox’s Bazar is the Kolatoli area. This is where you will find many, many restaurants and hotels.

If you’re looking for a more peaceful place (and have the budget), you can find plenty of beach resorts along Marine Drive. One of the most famous ones is Mermaid Beach Resort , but it’s also very expensive.

I stayed at Primacy Opelia Beach Resort in Kolatoli, they have nice and clean rooms, and the hospitality here is out of this world !

Things to do in Cox’s Bazar – Final thoughts

Cox’s Bazar was one of my favourite places in Bangladesh! Even though I’m not much of a beach lover normally, I loved this beach because of its awesome pirate boats and endless stretches of abandoned sandy beaches.

On top of that, the lush green surroundings are beautiful too and Bangladesh is home to some of the most hospitable people in the world.

Cox's Bazar is a beach resort in the Chittagong Division in south-eastern Bangladesh . It has one of the longest sea beaches in the world, 120 km (75 miles) long.

Understand [ edit ]

For Bangladeshis it doesn't get much better than Cox's Bazar, the country's most popular beach resort. Sort of a Cancun of the east, it's choc-a-bloc with massive cement hotels and gaudy overdevelopment catering largely to the country's elite. To a foreigner it likely won't compare to other beach vacations you may have taken, but it's still interesting to see how the Bangladeshis live it up. The beach is crowded, especially near the Hotel Motel Zone, a large cluster of more upmarket hotels. Expect lots of attention, and expect to stay fully clothed.

30 km south is Inani Beach. Things should be quieter here, but still expect to draw some attention.

About 150 km south of Chittagong , Cox's Bazar is connected both by air and road from Dhaka and Chittagong .

By plane [ edit ]

Non-Stop flights are available from Chittagong and Dhaka on Biman Bangladesh Airlines (State owned) or US-Bangla Airlines Flights tend to be daily during the high season (Oct - Apr) and 3-4 flights per week during the Summer and Monsoon (May - Sept).

By bus [ edit ]

The main bus terminal is a few km east of the central town area, about a 15-minute / Tk 10 rickshaw ride. Local buses head to Chittagong (Tk 120, 4 hours) and Teknaf (Tk 70, 3 hours).

The private bus companies have offices near Hotel Sea Queen on the main road, and also down in the Hotel Motel Zone.

Get around [ edit ]

• Cycle-rickshaws are plentiful, and the ride between Hotel Motel Zone and the Laldighi Lake area on the main road should cost Tk 12, though foreigners will have to fight hard for that price. They'll ask for at least Tk 20, Tk 15 is a fair enough middle ground.

Buy [ edit ]

There are lots of shops in the Hotel Motel Zone catering to Bangladeshi tourists. Things made of sea shells are very popular and also sold by vendors on the beach, but think twice about encouraging such an environmentally-destructive practice.

You can also check out the Burmese Market, but don't expect a lot of handicrafts. The traditional Burmese dresses and fabrics are definitely interesting. Besides that, you will find some stores which sell pearl jewellery. You can also try some local beauty products (sandal wood based), hand woven textile and bedsheets among many other things.

However, a better bet would be to buy articles of interest from the mobile vendors who will most likely approach you while you are relaxing in front of the beach. They not only have good products, but the prices offered are also cheaper than the same in the markets.

Dried fish is a protein-rich delicacy, and can be bought from the main market in Cox's Bazar. There are also a few shops near the hotel-motel zone, but it is better to buy from the main market.

• Jhawban Restaurant and Poushee Restaurant , next door to each other on Hotel Sayeman Rd just south of Sea Beach Rd, serve similarly excellent Bangladeshi food including fried fish, a Cox's Bazar speciality. Both restaurants are wildly popular, especially at lunch time. Poushee is probably one of the best restaurants in Cox's Bazar, and serves delicious seafood. Meals Tk 60-130.
• Mermaid Café , Sea In Point Sughandha Beach ( in Hotel Motel Zone ), ☏ +880 1841-416461 . Lunch and dinner until 19:00. Overlooking the beach south of Hotel Media International, this newish cafe is friendly and laidback and probably the coolest place to hang out in the area. If it were anywhere else its prices would put it out of business, but here it's taka well spent. It has several sitting areas and hammocks, and a creative menu including crepes and savory pancakes, and seafood-heavy mains like shrimp salad, pastas and fish pizza for Tk 250-400. Delicious fresh juices are around Tk 80 and filter coffee and espresso around Tk 50. The music is occasionally dubious but they're open to requests.  
• Sea Stone Café ( Sea In Point Sughandha Beach, part of Divine Eco Resort ), ☏ +880 9611-677223 . 11am til late . As the only two-storey building on the beach-front, Sea Stone Café offers superb 180 degree views of the Cox’s Bazar beach. Its top deck is the best place in town to watch the sun set over the Bay of Bengal. Quality Western and Asian dishes are on offer, as well as fresh juices, coffee and tea. Entrées include grilled prawns, calamari and niçoise salad. Serves home-made pasta, pizza, chicken and beef, along with prawns, calamari, crab, lobster and fish. The staff are friendly, although the service can be slow.

Alcohol is available in a few locations in Cox's Bazar. The following hotels have bars which generally open from 19:00: Seagull Hotel, Hotel Sayeman, Hotel Shaibal, Renaissance Hotel. Don't expect much as their ambience leaves much to be desired and there is no guarantee the beer will be cold. Prices are higher than you might expect.

Sleep [ edit ]

Most of the budget hotels are in the area surrounding Laldighi Lake in the main town area. The massive cement beasts are closer to the beach, getting bigger and grander as you move the 2 km south to the Hotel Motel Zone.

Hotel Sea Gull and Sayeman Beach Resort are decent choices in the centre of town. There are a few hotels/motels such as Hotel Probal and Sikat operated by the Parjatan Corporation, a government tourism organisation.

• Saint Martins Island - This small coral island about 10 km (6 mi) south-west of the southern tip of the mainland is a tropical cliché, with beaches fringed with coconut palms and bountiful marine life. There's nothing more strenuous to do here than soak up the rays, but it's a clean and peaceful place without even a mosquito to disrupt your serenity.
• Teknaf : Southernmost tip of Bangladesh, Teknaf is on the banks of the Naaf river and just at the end of the hilly regions of the district. Myanmar is on the opposite bank of the river. (Do not attempt to cross here, though: the Burmese have mined it.) Wild animals and birds can be viewed, but the most interesting thing is a journey on the river. The wide sandy beach in the backdrop of high hills with green forests is an enchanting scene never to be forgotten.
• Himchari : It is about 32 km south of Cox's Bazar along the beach, a nice place for a picnic and photo-shooting. The famous "Broken Hills" and waterfalls here are rare sights. It's an hour's drive from Cox's Bazar and an ideal place for sea-bathing and a picnic.
• Maheskhali : An island off the coast of Cox's Bazar. It has an area of 268 square kilometres. Through the centre of the island and along the eastern coast line rises a range of low hills, 90 metres high; but the coast to the west and north is a low-lying treat, fringed by mangrove jungle. In the hills on the coast is built the shrine of Adinath, dedicated to Shiva. By its side on the same hill is a Buddhist Pagoda.
• Ramu : This is a typical Buddhist village, about 16 km from Cox's Bazar, on the main road to Chittagong. There are monasteries, khyangs and pagodas containing images of Buddha in gold, bronze and other metals inlaid with precious stones. The village has a charm of its own. Weavers ply their trade in open workshops and craftsmen make handmade cigars in their pagoda like houses.
• Sonadia Island : It is about 7 km from Cox's Bazar and about nine square kilometer in area. The western side of the island is sandy and different kinds of shells are found on the beach. Off the northern part of the island there are beds of window pane oysters. During winter fisherman set up temporary camps on the island and dry their catches of sea fish.

Why I Love Cox’s Bazar

It was two years ago, in 2015, when I last visited Cox’s Bazar. After traveling overland from Dhaka through Chittagong City to Cox’s Bazar in June 2015, embraced me — the sun-soaked beaches, dazzling, waterfalls, safari park, and laid-back tropical vibe. They pretty much flabbergasted me!

I have traveled to Cox’s Bazar numerous times and while some things always change, but the core remains the same.

I always loved hanging around by the beach, cruising through the lush countryside in rickshaws in the evening. The evening ceremony of watching the sun melt into the Bay of Bengal was a sight to devour!

And, I love the Cox’s Bazar locals — assiduous, welcoming, optimistic and always frankly.

What are the Main Attractions of Cox’s Bazar

Cox’s Bazar is a town and a fishing port spread across 6.85 square kilometers. Cox’s Bazar is more than beaches. Sweetened with the sun, Bay of Bengal, seafood, sand and serenity, there’s nowhere in Bangladesh quite like Cox’s Bazar. Here are the main attractions of Cox’s Bazar:

• Cox’s Bazar Beach – Bangladesh boasts the world’s longest beach, stretching across 120 kilometers. Cox’s Bazar Beach is the main attraction of the town. The beach pulled in the most number of tourists in Bangladesh, thus being the top tourist destination of Bangladesh. Walking on the world’s longest stretch of beach in the evening is bound to give you goosebumps.

• Aggmeda Khyang – it’s a large Buddhist monastery. The Buddhist monastery features an assembly hall and a prayer chamber. It also contains a number of small and large bronze Buddha images. It’s also a repository of valuable manuscripts. The place is revered by 400,000 Buddhists living in Cox’s Bazar and the Chittagong Hill Tracts. And, the monastery is visited by thousands of people every month.
• Ramu – it’s a small village with a sizeable population, mainly Buddhist, located about 10 kilometers from Cox’s Bazar. The main occupation of the people is fashioning handicrafts. The Ramu people also partake in agricultural activities and produce homemade cigars. The village is quite reputable for the handmade merchandises.
• Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Safari Park – it’s the first safari park established in Bangladesh. This is a tropical evergreen forest and hosts invaluable tress, such as Boilam, Garjan, Telsur and Chapalish. It also contains herbs, creepers and shrubs. The forest hosts several endangered animals.

A large area always under surveillance contains the animals. You can hike into the forest and catch the animals and other wonders. There are jeeps and buses that will grant you a tour in the forest too.

The serene Cox’s Bazar Beach is adorned with the finest restaurants, hotel lounges, markets, tourist activities, and top-quality entertainment. It is the perfect place for family and friends’ vacations.

Due to conservative culture, it is essential to stay entirely clothed even on the beach. The Southern Inani beach attracts a lesser crowd and is a lovely, quieter space, but the dress code still needs to be followed.

Himchari is situated to the south of Cox’s Bazar and is another charming sight-seeing location.

The region spreads over 23.4 sq. km and has 27 towns and nine wards. Tourism and recreation account for the primary economic activity. The currency used is Bangladeshi Taka (BDT).

Ornaments made from pearl, oysters, and snails are rather popular among tourists.

The district was initially known as Palongkee before colonization. It was subsequently named after Captain Hiram Cox – the superintendent of the Palongkee outpost for the British East India Company. It was done to commemorate the work of the Captain to house the Arakanese refugees in the region.

Transportation

Cox’s Bazar district is 150 km away from Chittagong district. It is well connected by road, rail, and air with Dhaka (the capital city) and Chittagong.

One can reach Cox’s Bazar by both Flights and Buses or Trains from either Dhaka or Chittagong. You can use auto-rickshaws and cycle-rickshaws for commuting in the area.

Direct buses are available from Dhaka, Chittagong, Kamalapur, Arambagh, and Fakirapul. Hourly buses leave for the Cox’s Bazar district. Both Air-conditioned and non-air-conditioned options are available.

The bus rates vary from 1200 to 2000 taka for AC buses and 700 to 900 taka for non-AC buses. Greenline, Desh, Shohagh, Saudia, and Hanif are some popular bus companies in the area.

A direct rail line doesn’t exist to the Cox’s district, but one can board a train from Chittagong to the Cox’s Bazar station. It is only 3 hours apart. The fare varies from around 1100 taka for AC berth to 285 takas for 2nd class.

Daily direct flights from Dhaka to Cox’s district are available. It is always better to book quite in advance to save money. The flights cost around 4000 to 9000 taka. Biman Bangladesh Airlines, US Bangla, and NovoAir all provide direct flights to Cox’s Bazar from Dhaka.

Best Time To Visit

Cox’s Bazar is a beautiful vacation destination all around the year. You can visit at any time, but prefer winter if you wish to get a hotel for lower rental fees.

Main Attractions

Cox’s bazar beach.

The long sea beach is the region’s primary attraction, providing a plethora of recreational activities and delicious food. A string of 5-star and 3-star hotels recline the area. The Laboni beach is the most popular one among tourists being closest to the town.

Inani Beach

It is a stunning 18 km long beach with coral stones resembling St. Martins Island. It is located 23 km south of Cox’s Bazar and is a cozier and quieter place.

Himchari National Park

The lush Himchari region boasts bountiful and breathtaking waterfalls, luscious grasslands, and tropical rainforests. The Bangladeshi Government set up the Himachari National Park in 1980 to propagate recreation, research, and conservation.

It protects the population of Asian Elephants in the area.

Also, the stunning beach sunset from Himchari Beach is not to miss when exploring the park.

Ramu Handicrafts

Ramu is a tiny Buddhist village located over 10 km from Cox’s Bazaar. The village includes numerous pagodas, khyangs, and monasteries with gold and bronze Buddha images and precious stones. Ramu village markets homemade cigars in their pagoda-like homes and artistic handicrafts in small workshops.

While exploring Ramu, it is worth visiting Bhubon Shanti Buddhist Temple. This place is calm and quiet, and you’ll be delighted to see the 100 feet Lying Statue of Gautama Buddha.

Aggmeda Khyang

Aggmeda is a vast Buddhist monastery valued by the Buddhist population of Chittagong and Cox’s Bazar. An assembly hall and a prayer chamber consist of plentiful manuscripts and bronze Buddha images of varying sizes.

Dulahazara Safari Park

The Dulahazara safari park is situated to the east of the highway connecting Chittagong and Cox’s Bazar. It is Bangladesh’s first safari park developed on an area of 9.00 sq. meters. The site is meant to conserve animals kept in a natural environment and allow people to witness these using vehicles. The forest comprises numerous animals like Bengal tigers, bears, lions, monkeys, elephants, crocodiles, chitals, and various birds.

Cox’s Bazar – Teknaf  Marine Drive

The Marine Drive is a pleasant route connecting Teknaf and Cox’s Bazar, with the hill on one and the sea on the other side. It is a pretty enthralling view that can uplift your moods.

Moheshkhali

There is a magnificent island off the coast of Cox’s Bazar beach known as Moheshkhali. With a mangrove periphery, the 268 sq. km island has a varying topography. There are many low hills along the eastern coast and a low-lying treat to the north and west. The hills house the shrine of Adinath Shiva and a Buddhist Pagoda.

You can hire a boat that speeds you down to the enchanting island of Moheshkhali. It is a small enjoyable ride of about half an hour with picturesque scenery all around.

Buy Handicrafts

There are a plethora of indigenous and regal handicraft markets for artifact enthusiasts in Cox’s Bazar. The tribal community of the region specializes in making charming ornaments from seashells, pearls, oysters, and snails. The Burmese market on the beachside at the Sugondha Point sells numerous kinds of local art, craft, and pickles.

Hiking in Cox’s Bazaar is a greatly loved activity due to the number of exhilarating jungles and hills. The sunset from the hilltops is so endearing, and you do not want to miss out on this experience. You can trek from the Pechar Dwip up to Himchari and enjoy the view. For high-end hotels like Royal Tulip, Sayeman Beach Resort, Seagull Hotel, etc., the costs may vary from 12000 to 80000 taka.

Hotels generally charge less in the off-season. Bargaining is always an intelligent way to go easy on the pocket.

Cox’s Bazar is the perfect get-away vacation for your friends and family. It is excellent all around the year and relatively affordable. The beach and with endless horizon are therapeutic, and the vibe around is serene.

Dear Fellow Travellers

We're thinking of visiting Suzdal on a one-day trip from Moscow this mid-August. We did our homework, and found the best way is to go to Vladimir by train and take a bus to Suzdal. We also checked the fare/timetable with Russian National Railway's official website ( http://pass.rzd.ru ) , then started wondering whether it is worth to book trains in advance. Yes, it's a busy season and we feel safe, but none in our group speaks Russian, and if something happens, we cannot catch the train we booked, all the money will be wasted. So, would we be better off not to book any train and go with the 'suburban' train that does not take booking (incidentally RZD site does not tell us how much it costs - maybe because it is a different operator and we cannot buy the ticket on their site?) Or would you recommend booking trains in advance?

Also, we've been trying to find a bus timetable between Vladimir and Suzdal, but so far we couldn't.

There are not many suburban trains to Vladimir, and they are usually packed, as any suburban trains to other regions. You trip is going to be very uncomfortable (I know, I've tried if once 'cause experss tickets were sold out). Suggestion: for trip to Vladimir, book a # 7082 train: https://rasp.yandex.ru/thread/7082_0_2000001_g19_4 (or a # 728 train if tickets are not too expensive). For return trip, maybe train # 709.

:))) There is no 'other operator'. RR site just does not sell commuter train tickets.

And the last: if possible, allocate 2 days to Suzdal and Vladimir.

The train you can book on rzd.ru, fast train to Nozhniy Novgorod via Vladimir is nice, comfortable and surely needs to be booked in advance. You can leave early in the morning, and reach Vladimir in under 2 hrs; as opposed to 3+ hrs by a suburban train. It costs like R350-400, (do not remember easily), but fast train is wirth effort.

As for getting the train - station has signs in English, board is in English and even these trains are annonced in English. You can visit the station the day before for orientation... Many people have done that before.

As for going to Suzdal from Vladimir, tgere are plenty of buses, right from train station sq. in Vladimir, but taxi would be faster and easier, esp.for several people, just use Yandex/Gett app.

Thanks a lot, Dmitri and Vasily! You guys are really great - we will definitely book fast trains. One thing which is not urgent - is it cheaper to buy return tickets from Moscow to Vladimir, or the two single/one-way tickets are the same price? In Britain, they are completely different: returns are often cheaper but sometimes two singles are cheaper - very confusing. We hope Russian system is more straightforward. Thanks again, Ken.

You can buy a return ticket only for suburban trains, and it will cost as 2 one-way tickets anyway. For everything else, you just buy 2 singles one by one - simple as it can be :).

And some more thoughts on the matter :).

1. If you don't feel confident, arrive at the station somewhat earlier, like 30 minutes in advance (not 10 like I did). I know half an hour is a bit overkill... just for the peace of mind :).

2. Vladimir trains depart from the Gorky direction dead end platforms (highlited here: http://yandex.ru/maps/213/moscow/?ll=37.662677%2C55.755958&mode=poi&poi%5Bpoint%5D=37.661626%2C55.756222&poi%5Buri%5D=ymapsbm1%3A%2F%2Forg%3Foid%3D188728336151&z=18 ). Do not enter main building, you don't need it.

3. I tend to agree with Vasili's advice about taxi. Suzdal bus staiton is on the outskirts of the town, you'll have either walk to the center (as I did - but I had 2 days instead of one) or wait for the local bus. Taxi will take you straight to the town centre.

I specify that high-speed trains to Vladimir leave from the first high platform. It is in the opposite part of the Kursk railway station than dead-end platforms. Common local trains to Vladimir depart from dead-end platforms.
