Big Thunder Mountain Railroad

The big dips and sharp turns don’t get lost in the virtual version… hold on!

Indiana Jones and the Temple of Peril

Strap into your rickety rail cart and start exploring the remnants of a previous expedition gone wrong.

Meandering through lush undergrowth and mysterious statues, your cart’s spiraling out of control through the cursed ruins.

Soon the thought of finding that missing expedition is gone as your most important task now is getting out safely — enjoy the ride!

It’s a Small World

The It’s a Small World ride is a classic no matter which park you experience it in. Set sail, sing along while you float down the Seven Seaways Waterway, and explore all 7 continents in less than 10 minutes.

The intricate details of the hand-crafted dolls telling stories of cultures all around the globe are just as impressive via YouTube as they are in person… well, almost!

One thing is the same as the actual ride: you will likely have the song stuck in your head for hours after you are done!

If you want to experience It’s a Small World in all the parks at once, check out this neat compilation via the Disney Parks YouTube Channel .

Star Wars Hyperspace Mountain

Fans of the original Space Mountain will recognize many parts of this roller coaster as it was previously known as Space Mountain: Mission 2.

In 2015, the indoor/outdoor roller coaster received a refresh and was rethemed as Star Wars Hyperspace Mountain to help celebrate the 25th anniversary of the park.

Although many parts of the ride are quite dark, you can still experience the thrill as the stars blow past you on this awesome steel coaster.

Ratatouille: The Adventure

Fans of EPCOT at Walt Disney World in Orlando can now ride the highly anticipated Ratatouille ride in Florida, but guests at Disneyland Paris have been enjoying it for years.

In this fun ride, you will shrink to the size of Remy and scurry through the famous Gusteau’s restaurant kitchen as you are being chased by angry Chef Skinner.

Disneyland Resort (Anaheim, California)

Dating back to its opening in 1955, Disneyland has long been the premier destination for theme park lovers on the west coast of the U.S. and across the world as it continues to grow.

Consisting of 2 parks, Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park, Disneyland is just 26 miles from Los Angeles and offers some of the most innovative and exciting rides in the world.

Here are some of the best Disneyland attractions you can experience from home.

Jungle Cruise

If you are looking for a friendly, informative, and pun-filled cruise, look no further than Jungle Cruise .

Head off on an adventure where you will explore the Mekong River, African Congo, Nile River, and the Amazon with your trusty skipper, who is never short on jokes.

Matterhorn Bobsleds

Bundle up and slide into your bobsled as you hurtle down a snow-capped mountain.

Not only will you make your way through narrow passageways, caves, and jagged cliffs, but you will also need to avoid the Abominable Snowman!

This is a great thrill ride in person, but the 4K video does a good job of passing along the excitement!

Peter Pan’s Flight

With a little bit of pixie dust, you will find yourself flying over London on an enchanted ship on your way to Neverland with Peter Pan.

This classic story will have you soaring past Big Ben and swooping into Pirate’s Cove while Peter battles Captain Hook.

Will you and the children make it back to London? Watch and find out!

Space Mountain

You don’t need to worry about getting a Genie+ reservation to experience the world-famous Space Mountain — the thrill is just a click away.

While watching the video isn’t quite the same as plummeting through the darkness on this classic roller coaster, it will certainly help scratch the itch until you can ride again.

If you want some behind-the-scenes action, check out what it’s like to ride Space Mountain at Disney World with the lights on here !

Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance

One of the most anticipated rides in the history of theme parks is just a click away.

Join the Resistance as you battle against the First Order in this impressive “Star Wars” ride. This video will take you on a front-row POV on this trackless ride at Disneyland as you get help from Rey and BB-8, battling your way past legions of stormtroopers.

Grizzly River Run

Strap in as you and your 7 friends board a whitewater raft and start drifting down what seems like a lazy river.

But hold on — this California river is full of drops, waterfalls, and geysers. If you were on this ride in person, you would probably get wet, but you don’t have to worry about that here.

You will still want to keep your head on a swivel to watch out for waterfalls, so be sure to strap on your VR headset and enjoy this ride in 360 degrees!

Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT!

This tower may look terrifyingly familiar to some, but it is now the home to Rocket and the Guardians of the Galaxy.

Help save Star-Lord, Groot, and the rest of the crew, who are held captive in electrified glass cases that dangle perilously over an abyss.

If you are a fan of the classic rock from the movies, you will surely enjoy the ride’s playlist, courtesy of Star-Lord’s awesome mixtapes.

Incredicoaster

Head over to the Pixar Pier and help the Incredibles as they try to catch Jack-Jack causing trouble throughout the neighborhood.

This fun roller coaster is full of big drops and tunnels that are easy to enjoy, thanks to this 360-degree video. If you have VR goggles, strap them on and prepare for a wild ride!

Radiator Springs Racers

Buckle up as you race through Cars Land and arrive in charming Radiator Springs.

This fun ride makes you the star, and all your favorite characters, including Lightning McQueen, come out to help you prepare for the big race.

You will zoom around high-banked turns and cruise down straightaways past spectacular red rock formations before crossing the finish line. This one will be fun for the whole family!

Soarin’ Over California

Conquer your fear of heights as you glide over California’s beautiful state.

As the clouds part over San Francisco, you’ll find yourself with a thrilling perspective of the iconic Golden Gate Bridge. The IMAX tour continues as you fly over Yosemite National Park , Napa Valley, Lake Tahoe, Palm Springs, and San Diego Bay, returning at dusk over Malibu before returning to Disneyland Park.

Be sure to turn up the volume and embrace the ride!

Hong Kong Disneyland opened in 2005 on reclaimed land in Penny’s Bay in Hong Kong. The park only has a capacity for 34,000 visitors per day, the smallest of any Disney park, but it offers plenty of entertainment.

Ant-Man and The Wasp: Nano Battle!

Shrink down and fight alongside Ant-Man and The Wasp as they try to help Iron Man defend against thousands of Swarmbots.

Guests ride along, shooting the bots hoping to protect S.H.I.E.L.D.’s secret research.

This ride style may be familiar to Disney fans, so it should be fun whether you are in person or watching from home.

Iron Man Experience

The Iron Man Experience is one ride that we don’t have stateside.

Guests are welcome to tour Stark Industries and get an all-access look at the groundbreaking technologies that will help shape the future.

Put on some 3D glasses and board an Expo Edition Iron Wing for a wild flight over Hong Kong. While the virtual experience may not be as thrilling as the real thing, it gives you a great look at one of the few rides that are difficult to experience in person.

Mystic Manor

Mystic Manor is a trackless ride that takes you through an eclectic art collection in an old manor house and museum.

As you go through the labyrinth of rooms, a curious little monkey opens a mysterious box, and some mystical music dust starts bringing objects to life. You must make your way out before it is too late!

Fans of “Toy Story” are sure to love this ride. Climb aboard your favorite RC Racer as you zoom up and down the track.

Ride up and down the 88-foot (27 m) half-pipe and feel like you are one of Andy’s toys playing in the backyard!

The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh

Winnie the Pooh is a lovable character, no matter where you are.

Hop into a honey pot and get lost in the pages of one of your favorite childhood books. Bounce along with Tigger in the Hundred Acre Wood and stay out of the rain with the help of Eeyore, Roo, Kanga, Rabbit, and Owl.

This is a fun and cute ride for all ages, online or in-person!

Toy Soldier Parachute Drop

This is another must-watch for “Toy Story” fans.

Guests become recruits for the toy soldier army as you hear the familiar voice of Sarge yelling out orders.

You will be high above Toy Story Land as you practice parachute drills. Strap in and hold on, soldier!

Shanghai Disneyland has long been considered one of Disney’s most well-balanced parks since its opening. With a great mix of shows, rides, and family attractions, it has something for everyone.

There are some great unique experiences that you will only find at this park. Let’s look at some of the best virtual rides on the internet.

Pirates of the Caribbean Battle of the Sunken Treasure

Set sail with Captain Jack Sparrow as you search the seas for Davy Jones’ sunken treasure.

This ride is fun, but beware of pirates, mermaids, and even the savage Kraken!

One of the most popular rides at the park for a good reason; take a look at this virtual cruise in 4K to see if it is enough to get you to start planning your next trip to China!

Roaring Rapids

Board your raft with fellow volunteers as you head up Roaring Mountain in search of the source of the mysterious sounds that come billowing out.

Hold on as the water turns into rapids as you are heading straight towards the dark caves. The sounds get louder as you approach, and you soon realize an enraged monster is causing the mountain roars.

Guests usually get wet on this ride, but you can avoid that and still get the thrill, thanks to this YouTube video.

TRON Lightcycle Power Run

Fans of adrenaline-pumping music, lights, and 3D graphics will love TRON Lightcycle Power Run . This ride is so popular in Shanghai that Disney replicated it in Magic Kingdom in Orlando.

Race for survival as you are other riders are “digitized” and enter the high-tech universe. Dip and dive in on your motorcycle through this incredible digital universe as you try to beat other opponents in your quest to capture the 8 Energy Gates.

Voyage to the Crystal Grotto

Board this charming little ship as you journey into a cavern full of Disney magic.

Music, light, and wonder will encompass you as you sail through incredible sculpture gardens honoring timeless Disney films like “Tangled,” “The Little Mermaid,” “Beauty and the Beast,” “Aladdin,” “Mulan,” and more.

After your cruise, you will surely be full of that special Disney awe.

Woody’s Roundup

Although it is certainly not the wildest ride, a trip (even a virtual one) to Shanghai Disneyland wouldn’t be complete for a “Toy Story” fan without a ride on Woody’s Roundup .

It’s time to have a party in the old Western town that Andy set up in his backyard. You will join Woody and Jessie for a good old-fashioned square dance as you spin back and forth on this fun family ride.

Even if you prefer the adrenaline of some of the other rides, you will undoubtedly be impressed with the details that make you feel like you are part of Andy’s toy collection.

Tokyo Disney Resort (Tokyo, Japan)

Tokyo Disney Resort was the first Disney property built outside of the U.S. in 1983, and it has proven to be quite popular. It’s the third most visited park behind Walt Disney World in Orlando and Disneyland in California.

There are 2 parks, Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea, and both are just a short drive or train ride from downtown Tokyo . While Disneyland has the iconic look and feel of Magic Kingdom (and many of the famous attractions Disney fans love), DisneySea is just as popular.

Splash Mountain

One of Disney’s most popular rides worldwide is Splash Mountain , and that holds true in Tokyo as well.

While quite similar to the version at Walt Disney World, the Tokyo Disneyland version has some subtle differences — can you spot them?

Monsters, Inc. Ride & Go Seek

Get on one of the most popular rides at the park as you play hide and seek with flashlights, tagging alongside Boo, Mike, and Sulley.

Make your way through Monstropolis on a smooth tram and try to find as many monsters as possible.

This an enjoyable ride for the family, even virtually, as you interact with your favorite characters from the film.

Haunted Mansion

Are you afraid of the dark? What about 999 ghosts, goblins, and ghouls desperately looking for someone to make it an even 1,000?

This fun and spooky ride is a must-visit for many Disney fans, and now you can enjoy it from the safety of your home in 4K!

Sit down, dim the lights, and try not to scream!

Soaring: Fantastic Flight

Soaring has finally touched down in Tokyo. Debuting in July 2019, this version of Soarin’ (from EPCOT) is proving to be just as popular.

Strap in and feel what it is like to fly above our beautiful Earth as you are transported worldwide from a perspective like never before.

This video puts you right into the clouds to start flying immediately.

Tower of Terror

As terrifying as the other Towers of Terror rides worldwide, the Tokyo DisneySea version is a fan favorite.

Transport back to 1912 New York as the Preservation Society is finishing up the restoration of this famous hotel and giving tours to the public. But the mysterious disappearance of the hotel’s owner in 1899 seems to be causing trouble, especially when the elevator reaches the top floor!

What do you think? Is this as scary as the original? Better?

Journey to the Center of the Earth

Unique to DisneySea and one of the most exciting rides at the park, Journey to the Center of the Earth is certainly worth checking out — even online.

Head deep into an active volcano on exploration, but hold on as things go awry and you find yourself plunging even deeper.

This thrill ride is certainly entertaining — enjoy it now without the long waits!

Raging Spirits

If you love thrilling roller coasters, this ride is for you.

This outdoor thrill ride is happy to take you upside down and 360 degrees around. Don’t worry about themes on this one. It’s all about speed and drops.

Raging Spirits is known for its long queues, so take advantage of the fact that you can see it from the comfort and safety of your home without motion sickness!

Walt Disney World (Orlando, Florida)

Walt Disney World in Orlando is the crown jewel of the Disney Parks family.

The massive property covers 25,000 acres and is home to 4 theme parks , 2 water parks , 27 resort hotels , multiple golf courses, and more shopping and dining options than you can pack into a single vacation.

Welcoming an average of 58 million guests per year (yes, you read that correctly), Walt Disney World is the most visited vacation resort in the world. Let’s look at some of the rides that make it so popular.

Planning a family vacation to Walt Disney World can be stressful! We offer tips to help make your next trip to see Mickey stress-free !

Mad Tea Party

If you like getting dizzy, this is the ride for you!

One of the most classic Magic Kingdom rides is the Mad Tea Party , a must-do for many guests. Inspired by “Alice in Wonderland,” it is loved by many, but this spinning ride is certainly not for everyone.

Ready to go for a twirl? Click play!

Seven Dwarfs Mine Train

One of the most popular rides in the park, the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train is known for its hairpin turns… and long waits. Fortunately, you don’t need to worry about the latter part when riding virtually.

Strap into this rustic mine train and make your way through the creaking tracks as you come across your favorite dwarfs as they are whistling and singing while they work.

This is a great family ride and almost as fun when watching from home!

It doesn’t get more iconic than Splash Mountain. The winding river, the small drops, the music … all getting you ready for the big splash at the end in front of all the passers-by.

Splash Mountain is currently being reimagined as “ Tiana’s Bayou Adventure ,” with theming from “The Princess and the Frog,” so until the renovation is complete, this 4K video is the next best thing.

Fortunately, in this version, you don’t have to wear a poncho!

Frozen Ever After

EPCOT has improved its rides lately, but one of the most popular rides in all the parks continues to be Frozen Ever After, based on the super-popular film.

This boat ride will take you towards Arendelle through a frozen willow forest and eventually to the North Mountain, where Queen Elsa’s enchanting ice palace awaits.

Fans of the movies will be happy to know that there are appearances from all your favorite characters, including Elsa, Anna, Olaf, and more.

Mission: Space

Have you ever wondered what it’s like to be an astronaut? Well, now you can get a feel for it thanks to this NASA-inspired simulation.

Chose your mission: travel to Mars or just a gentle orbit around Earth. Both will require you to go through cadet training, so prepare for an epic blastoff into space.

Strap in and enjoy some of the most spectacular views of our planet.

This is a fun ride for the car lover — or anyone who likes a fun ride.

Head to the Chevrolet Design Center and create a virtual concept car that you’ll then get to take out for a spin on the test track. You will experience big curves, inclement weather, and high speeds.

Hopefully, your creation is up to the challenge!

Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway

The most anticipated ride opening of 2020 just may have been Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway .

The newest of all Hollywood Studios rides, this trackless ride replaced The Great Movie Ride in the Grauman’s Chinese Theatre in the center of Hollywood Studios, and the reviews have been good.

Zip away with Mickey and Minnie as you are transported into the cartoon short with them on a wild train ride. This is the first-ever ride that features Mickey Mouse and his friends — enjoy!

Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run

Talking about popular rides, new “Star Wars” rides are probably the most anticipated attractions of the past decade, if not ever at Walt Disney World.

Make your way through Galaxy’s Edge before boarding the Millenium Falcon as you embark on a thrilling, interactive journey into hyperspace.

There is danger at every turn as you battle through the galaxy. Get ready to punch it!

Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith

Fast roller coasters and loud music? Sign us up!

This awesome thrill ride shoots you through the streets of Los Angeles and into the music studio where Aerosmith works on a recording session.

Jump in their limo and explore the city at break-neck speeds!

Slinky Dog Dash

“Toy Story” fans rejoice! The ride of your dreams is here, and you don’t have to worry about securing a Genie+ Lightning Lane reservation!

Head into Andy’s backyard, where he has assembled his Mega Coaster Play Kit and Slinky Dog, ready to take you on a wild ride.

This incredibly fun ride is perfect for the entire family, whether in person or online.

Avatar Flight of Passage

One of the world’s most visually stunning and exciting rides can be found at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Avatar Flight of Passage consistently generates hours-long lines, with guests coming off the ride saying it was worth every minute. Impressive, no?

On this 3D ride, you climb on the back of a mountain banshee and fly through Pandora as if you were a Na’vi hunter.

While it would be impossible to experience how incredible this ride is from your computer truly, you can get a pretty good idea of how special it is without the help of Genie+.

Expedition Everest – Legend of the Forbidden Mountain

If you are looking for a good old-fashioned roller coaster but with that special Disney touch, look no further than Expedition Everest .

Hold on as you careen through the Himalayan peaks on old train tracks as mystic Yeti chases after you.

Big drops, darkness, drops in reverse, this ride has it all.

Kilimanjaro Safari

One of the exceptional parts of Animal Kingdom is that there are — wait for it — a lot of animals on the property!

You can go on an open-air safari that covers over 100 acres of land, home to 34 species of animals. With everything from open plains to rocky wetlands, you will be amazed at how many beautiful animals live in the park — and how close you can get to them.

Whether it’s a stunning giraffe, a regal lion, or one of the rhinos or elephants, there is plenty to see on this 18-minute tour.

If you want the thrill of Disney from the comfort of your home, we’ve got you covered.

Fortunately, thanks to technology, we can experience some of the world’s most incredible rides and scratch that ever-present “Disney itch” from wherever we are.

With options in 4K and even with 360-degree cameras, you can start planning exactly which rides you want to reserve when you visit the park.

Until then, make sure your phone is fully charged so that you don’t run out of battery at the end of Splash Mountain!

Disney’s Epcot Virtual Tour

Today’s the day to visit Epcot! You hop on the monorail and the excitement builds and builds as you see the iconic silvery white Epcot ball come into view.

Head To Future World First

Once you enter into Epcot, you’re greeted by the Epcot ball. You head into Spaceship Earth on the inside and go on a journey through the past, present, and future of human life.

After Spaceship Earth, your journeys into the future aren’t over. You head over to Mission Space, where you opt for the more thrilling version of the flight. (After all, you don’t have to worry about feeling the g-forces of space flight on this Disney virtual tour.)

When your spaceship returns back to earth, you hop right onto another speedy vehicle on Test Track, where you zoom around at speeds of up to 60 miles per hour!

Between the spaceship and the speedy car, all of the cylinders in your body are firing. Your adrenaline is pumping out at a ridiculous speed. You decide that you need to tone it down just a notch, so, as you round the circle of future land, you begin the Journey into Imagination with Figment, your favorite friendly dragon.

Now that you’ve calmed down a bit with your friend, Figment, you’re ready to head back into the air again. You buckle into Soarin, which is arguably one of the best rides in Epcot , and enjoy the beautiful scenery all over the world. Soar over the Pyramids of Giza in Egypt, the Eiffel Tower in France, Mt. Fuji in Japan, and so many other amazing international landmarks.

Since you’ve already traveled into the Land Pavilion of Future World, Living with the Land is right around the corner. Calmly sail along this nature-filled ride while learning about wise agricultural practices. Can you spot the Mickey-shaped fruits and veggies?

Travel The Globe through The World Showcase

Now that you’ve travelled through the future, you’re ready to head back into the present in the World Showcase.

Before you begin this journey around the world, you have to decide: to drink or not to drink. One of the most popular things to do in Epcot is drink around the world . And you can do this at home too! While you could go all out and whip up a few different Disney-inspired international drinks, you could also just grab your adult beverage of choice and sip as you travel through this Disney virtual tour.

The first country up: Canada! Visit the winter wonderland of North America through the wonderfully crafted O Canada! film.

After exploring the magical landscapes of Canada, you can explore the charming scenery of France in the film Impressions de France. Watch the hot air balloons float along the Loire Valley and feel the hustle and bustle of a Normandy marketplace.

As you make your way around Epcot’s World Showcase, you’ll walk through each country, taking in the atmosphere, architecture, and culture. You’ll pass Morocco, Japan, the U.S., Italy, Germany, and China before you reach your next ride in Norway. Along the way, grab some international snacks, watch impromptu shows, and maybe take a few photos.

In Norway, you ride Frozen Ever After, a Frozen -inspired ride aboard a Viking ship filled with unexpected twists and turns.

You decide you want to hop on one more ride before you call it a night, and, lucky for you, the Gran Fiesta Tour Starring the Three Caballeros is just around the corner! You venture into the dark Mayan pyramid and hop aboard a boat.

Experience a Magical End to a Magical Day with Epcot Forever

You’ve explored the future and travelled around the world. To top off your magical day at Epcot, you watch the Epcot Forever fireworks show. Filled with uplifting music and colorful tidbits of culture, Epcot Forever is the perfect way to end the day.

Disney’s Hollywood Studios Virtual Tour

Day three of this Disney World virtual tour, and you’ve opted to go to Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Since you’ve already taken a couple of other modes of transportation to get to Magic Kingdom and Epcot on this Disney virtual tour, you opt to take a ride on the new Disney Skyliner this time around.

Walk The Palm-Tree Lined Hollywood Boulevard

You enter into the gates of Hollywood Studios and onto Hollywood Boulevard. You see the palm trees lining the walkway and feel the warm sun on your face. You think to yourself, am I in California? (And you very well might be since this is a Disney virtual tour.)

sign for Disney's Hollywood Studios Disney Virtual Tour

You already know what ride you want to hop on first: The Tower of Terror. There’s nothing like starting your day off with a good rush of adrenaline. But on your way there, you catch a glimpse of the talented citizens of Hollywood, so you decide to stay and watch.

The performance comes to an end, and you’re clapping as fast as your hands can go. It was just that good!

Get Your Adrenaline Pumping on Sunset Boulevard

You finally tear your attention away from the citizens of Hollywood as they go back to their daily routine and head towards The Tower of Terror. As you turn on Sunset Boulevard, you see it in the distance: the rusting, crumbling, lofty Tower of Terror. It seems more sinister than you remember, but there’s no reason to be afraid – it is a Disney virtual tour, after all. You rush over and hop on in the ride in record time!

You hop off the Tower of Terror and feel like you barely managed to scrape by with your life! You think about taking a pause from the thrill rides, but then Rock ‘N’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith has NO LINE AT ALL! Sounds like it’s time for another thrilling ride!

After all the twists and turns and drops, your body is jittering like you’ve had six cups of espresso! You decide that it’s really time to calm your body down, and, lucky for you, Beauty and the Beast – Live on Stage is just about to start. Your see that there is the perfect number of seats right in the front, and you slide in just as the music for the opening number begins to play.

After watching Belle and the Beast’s fairytale story come to life, you’ve tackled pretty much everything you wanted to do on Sunset Boulevard in record time! As you make the rounds to Animation Courtyard, you see that a Disney Junior Dance Party is about to start, and you say why not! The little ones need some fun of their own.

After dancing around with Doc McStuffins, Vampirina, and Mickey Mouse, you and the little ones have huge smiles on your faces.

Return to Hollywood Boulevard For One More Ride

You decide to visit Mickey once again on Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway, because this ride is the perfect combination of kid-friendly yet thrilling.

You did it! You helped Mickey and Minnie save the runaway train!

Peek Into Pixar Place

You’re feeling like a superhero when you dash behind Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway and into Pixar Place. And guess what? You’re not the only superhero there! Mr. Incredible, Mrs. Incredible, and Frozone are all there too! You even spot the renowned superhero costume designer: Edna Mode!

Feel Like A Child Again At Toy Story Land

After your time in Pixar Place, you turn the corner and end up in Toy Story Land. By now, your stomach is growling at you like Jack-Jack when he doesn’t get his cookie num nums (and the delicious smell of waffles wafting through the air definitely doesn’t help), so you make a stop at Woody’s Lunch Box for a snack.

Now that your tummy is nice and full, you’re ready to get back to the excitement. Up next is one of the best rides at Hollywood Studios : Slinky Dog Dash!

After you finish up that exciting new ride, you decide that you’re not quite done with Toy Story Land. Toy Story Mania is up next – and look at that! There’s no line!

You play all of the games, and you end up beating the high score of the day! But that’s not enough for you – you want to hold the highest score of the month . So you hop on again for another spin at it.

AND YOU DID IT!! Check out that amazing high score! No one’s going to be able to knock your high score of the month off the leaderboard.

Pop Into Another Galaxy At Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge

In the short walk from Toy Story Land to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, you are transported to a galaxy far, far away. Of course, you plan to explore every inch of this otherworldly place, and first up is Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run. Will you successfully pilot your mission? The future of your vehicle is in your hands.

Congratulations! The mission was a success! Oh, and look what ride is up next – Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance .

You decide the Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance might be the one of the best Disney rides you’ve ever been on – and you can’t wait to experience it in person one day.

Between playing Toy Story Mania twice , piloting a mission in Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run, and experiencing Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, you’re famished again! There are honestly so many delicious things to eat. Which one do you choose?

Finish Up Your Hollywood Studios Ride Bucket List At Echo Lake

There’s one last land in Hollywood Studios that you need to make a stop at: Echo Lake. To continue the Star Wars theme, you head to Star Tours – The Adventure Continues.

By now, you’re exhausted. How many amazing rides have you been on today? You start to tally but then lose count. You decide to spend the rest of your time in Hollywood Studios watching show after show. Lucky for you, the Indiana Jones Stunt Spectacular is just about to start!

Indiana Jones battles villains, traverses around traps, and escapes with just seconds to spare, just like in Raiders of the Lost Ark ! But story time isn’t over quite yet, because For the First Time in Forever: A Frozen Sing-Along Celebration is about to start!

https://youtu.be/JFeuOvEiIXM

End The Night With Fantasmic

There’s one last show at Hollywood Studios that you must see: Fantasmic. Watch Mickey’s sorcery come to life with friends from all of your favorite Disney classics, and end it all with a dazzling burst of colorful fireworks.

Disney’s Animal Kingdom Virtual Tour

Today’s the day! You’re going to take a Disney virtual tour of the last park: Animal Kingdom. This time, you simply drive up and park at Animal Kingdom. No fancy transportation.

Animal Kingdom tree of life Disney virtual tour

Cross The Bridge To Discovery Island

When you enter the park, you cross through the Oasis and straight to Discovery Island. You stop and watch a few different animals in their habitats, including otters, flamingos, and tamarins. After all, you have to enjoy the animals at Animal Kingdom.

From there, you move on to your next stop. You’re determined to snap a few photos at the iconic Tree of Life. You even pop by the hidden theater just below the Tree of Life for It’s Tough to Be a Bug!

Feel Transported To Pandora – The World of Avatar

Then, you move on to Pandora – The World of Avatar, because you’re ready for your first ride. You opt for Avatar Flight of Passage, on which you take to the skies on a winged mountain banshee! You’re diving headfirst into the excitement of Animal Kingdom!

After exploring the skies in Avatar Flight of Passage, you then decide to take to the bioluminescent water-filled world of the Na’vi River Journey.

Wow, all this exploring in so little time has made you HUNGRY! Did you remember to eat breakfast today? You can’t remember, so you decide to stop for a tasty snack.

Discover The Land Of Africa

Now that you’ve restocked your energy reserves, you’re now prepared for the long walk over to the Land of Africa. One of the best Animal Kingdom rides is definitely Kilimanjaro Safaris. Why? Because it’s a 20-minute ride filled with real animals! Zebras, lions, and giraffes – oh my!

After riding Kilimanjaro Safaris, you feel like you’ve been transported to the landscape of The Lion King , which is only appropriate considering that the Festival of the Lion King is just about to start! Singalong with your favorite songs from The Lion King , including “Hakuna Matata,” “The Circle of Life,” and “Can You Feel The Love Tonight?”

Cross Over To Asia

After spending some time in Africa, you decide to cross the continental border into Asia. First up on the list: the Maharajah Jungle Trek. There, you see Asian tigers, gibbons, Komodo dragons, lion-tailed macaques, and tons of other cool animals.

Right as you finish up the Mahrajah Jungle Trek, the UP! A Great Bird Adventure is just about to begin. You rush to get a seat and watch colorful birds from all around the world do flips and tricks.

You then decide that you want to ride a couple of thrilling rides, starting with Kali River Rapids. This water ride filled with thrills and drops is amazing, even virtually. (Water balloon fight round 2, anyone?)

The last thing you do in Asia is Expedition Everest, arguably the most thrilling ride at Animal Kingdom. You even catch a glimpse of the elusive Yeti!

Experience DinoLand U.S.A.

There’s just one more land left in Animal Kingdom, and one more activity that you want to experience: the DINOSAUR ride. You are transported back into prehistoric times and get up close and personal with tyrannosaurus rexes, pterodactyls, and raptors.

Finish Off The Night With The Rivers of Light Show

You’ve interacted with animals, ridden thrill rides, and watched amazing shows. Now there’s just one thing to do to finish of your Disney virtual tour at Animal Kingdom: watch the Rivers of Light show.

https://youtu.be/hqyqhIXaoWY

I hope that this Disney virtual tour brought a little bit of joy and Disney magic into your homes. While you can’t always visit the parks for a dose of pixie dust, this Disney virtual tour might be able to do the trick!

50+ Virtual Field Trip Amusement Park Links (+ Activity Ideas)

Virtual Field Trip Amusement Park Day

Looking for ways to make virtual field trips to amusement parks more fun for kids?

These amusement park project ideas, activities, and carnival games will make a theme park virtual tour more than just a virtual walk through the park.

Plus, with links to 57 theme park and amusement park virtual tours, you’ll have everything you need to start planning a virtual field trip to Disney World parks, Six Flags parks, and more.

Planning an Interactive Virtual Field Trip Amusement Park Day

How do you take a virtual field trip to Six Flags?

Like many other amusement parks, several Six Flags locations have allowed Google to do a Street View tour of their park. Google Street View is easy to navigate, but if you aren’t familiar with it and want to learn about all of the features read this article .

Of course, if you were planning a real trip to Six Flags, you wouldn’t go to just walk through the park.

And there’s no reason that your virtual tour has to be just a walkthrough either.

All you need to do to make a virtual tour into a full virtual vacation day is add in some virtual rides, carnival games, and at-home activities, all of which you will find tips and suggestions for below.

As you’re doing your walkthrough of the park, stop and take a virtual ride when you reach each attraction.

If you’re touring a park that has carnival games, set some up in your backyard or living room and take a break from the screen when you reach the game area.

Another great way to take a break from the screen is to plan some other amusement park themed projects and activities for your kids.

Not only will these activities make the trip more interactive and fun for your kids, but it will help you stretch a short virtual tour into a full day of fun at home.

For tips on how to organize your virtual field trip amusement park day read How to Take a Virtual Vacation.

Virtual Amusement Park Rides

Virtual Amusement Park Rides

If you’re planning a Busch Gardens virtual field trip, you’re going to want to check out the triple-launch roller coaster, Cheetah Hunt.

Luckily, thanks to YouTube , you can take a virtual ride on it, and many other popular theme park rides, from home.

Finding virtual amusement park rides is easy.

Just look through the ride section on the website for the park you plan to visit.  Then pick the rides you want to experience virtually and search for them on YouTube.  Use the term “POV” in your search to find first-person point of view videos of the rides.

Some videos are even done in 360° views.

Virtual Entertainment

Rides aren’t the only virtual resource you need to include to experience a theme park from home.

What would a trip to Disney World be without watching a parade or seeing Mickey Mouse perform on stage?

Search on the entertainment section of the theme parks website to see what shows, parades, and more they have.

Then search for the name of each on YouTube to find videos of the live performances.

Video Tours of Resorts

If you’re taking a Hershey Park virtual field trip, you may want to take a quick tour of Hershey Lodge, Hershey Hotel, or the Hershey Camping Resort too.

While you’re on the theme parks website looking for rides and entertainment, make sure you check to see what accommodations they have too.

Many theme parks have their own hotels and resorts that are worth checking out, and luckily there are a lot of YouTubers who have posted virtual tour videos of them too.

Amusement Park Virtual Tour At-Home Activity Ideas

Amusement Park Activity Ideas

Sitting back and taking in the view of rides, shows, parades, and resorts is relaxing for us adults.  But most kids will start to get restless spending a day just watching videos between the virtual walking tour.

That’s why it’s great to take a short break once in a while to do an activity away from the screen too. Here are some ideas for theme park-related activities you can do at home.

  • Face painting- many amusement parks have face painting booths, so why not pull out your own face paint when you see one on the virtual tour? You can go all out and learn how to make some fancy designs with these face painting tutorials, or just pick up a kit with some stencils.
  • Theme park recipes- You can find recipes for some of your favorite Disney food and Universal studios food on their websites.  For other theme and amusement parks check Pinterest or Google for copy cat recipes.
  • Family photos- look on the amusement parks website to see if they have any digital backdrops, like this one from Universal Studios .  Then use it as a background for your own photoshoot.
  • Coloring/activity sheets- Universal Studios has coloring pages on their website, and Canada’s Wonderland has a few activity sheets too.  You can also find generic amusement park coloring sheets by doing a Google image search.
  • Amusement park crafts – There are lots of amusement park craft ideas on Pinterest you can do too.

While these last two activity ideas won’t give your kids a break from the screen, they are a great way to keep kids engaged in the virtual tour.

  • Scavenger hunt- make your own scavenger hunt sheet (like this one for Canada’s Wonderland ) by doing a virtual walkthrough and writing out some of the things you see.
  • Bingo sheets- write out the names of some rides on bingo sheets, then have your kids bingo dab each ride as you reach it on your virtual tour.

DIY Carnival Games

DIY Carnival Games

Many amusement parks have carnival games spread throughout the park.  To see what kinds of games the park you will be virtually visiting has do a virtual walkthrough, or search on YouTube to get a better look at the games.

Once you know what games they have, search on Pinterest or Google to find DIY versions that you can make at home.

You can have your kids play the games just for fun, or have prizes for them to win.  Make a simple prize bucket with some party favors and/or dollar store toys.

The games below were based on games at Canada’s Wonderland.  To get a better view of some of these games, watch this YouTube video .  To see pictures of how I set up some of these games, see this Facebook post .

  • Ring Toss – set up your own ring toss game, like this , with some unopened pop bottles (or empty ones filled with water) and anything you can find to use as a tossing ring.
  • Peach Basket – make your own version of the Peach Basket game, by leaning a laundry basket or similarly shaped container up against a wall.  Angle it so that it is difficult (but not impossible) to get the ball in without it bouncing back out.
  • Rebound – find a board, kids’ easel, tv tray, or something similar and lean it against a wall at a slight angle.  Place a bucket or laundry basket below it (see this website for an example).
  • Gunball – make this game at home with a few plastic cups and a nerf gun.
  • Milk Cans – While you can buy a classic milk can online, you could also just use a non-breakable vase, large sand pail, or a large juice jug with a ball that is just a bit smaller than the top opening to throw into it.
  • Foul Shot – to create your own version of the Foul Shot game pick up a door basketball hoop from the dollar store.  Set it up somewhere that you can throw the ball in at a distance.
  • Water gun race – to do your own water gun race, draw targets on a fence outside with sidewalk chalk.  Have your kids race to see who can erase the target first with water guns.
  • Duck Pond – write a prize amount on the bottom of some dollar store rubber ducks with a sharpie marker.  Then float them in a kiddie pool, large tote, or even the bathtub and have your kids chose one.
  • Ski Ball – If you want an easy to make DIY arcade game, follow this design from Frugal Fun 4 Boys for a ski ball game made with cardboard and laundry baskets.
  • For more carnival game options check out Pinterest’s DIYs .

Follow Up Amusement Park Project Ideas

If you want to extend your virtual tour, or make it more educational, here are a few ideas for some follow up amusement park themed projects you can do after the trip.

  • Design your own paper roller coaster or paper plate roller coaster .
  • Create an original ride with drawings and a paragraph describing how it works.
  • Design your own amusement park by making an amusement park map.
  • Make a replicate of the amusement park you visited on Minecraft or a game like Roller Coaster Tycoon.
  • Check on Roblox and see if anyone has made a game based on the amusement park you visited.  Compare their rides and layout to the real parks.
  • Make an ad, flyer, or brochure for the amusement park you visited.
  • Write a review of the amusement park.
  • Do a slide show of the amusement park rides to make your own virtual tour.

12 Disney and Universal Park Rides You Can Virtually Hop on from Home

Author image: about face matte fluid eye paint review chelsea candelario

Did you know you could raise your arms up high (or keep your hands and feet inside at all times if that’s more your vibe) right from the couch? From Disney World to Universal Studios, here are 12 virtual amusement park rides you can ride with the whole family. Oh! And after a long day at the “park,” step into the kitchen and recreate some of Disney’s most popular theme park recipes to finish off the day just right.

These Virtual Playdates Teach Your Kids Sign Language (and Double as a Dance Party)

1. Radiator Springs Racers

Cars fans can enjoy this immersive attraction as you hop into a car and drive along Radiator Springs in Disney California Adventure. And as you chase your way across the finish line, take in the scenery and familiar faces like Lightning McQueen and Mater.

2. Expedition Everest

Stop by the Animal Kingdom for a fun, thrilling roller coaster ride. Step inside and follow along the tracks filled with quick turns and dips before meeting a dead-end which only means one thing...an unpredictable backward switcheroo that no one saw coming.

3. Jurassic World The Ride

Inspired by the Jurassic World series, come onboard this adventure boat ride that shows you some real “live” dinosaurs. But once you get to Predator Cove, all we can say is, “Beware.” Oh, and did we mention the 84-foot drop?

4. Harry Potter And The Forbidden Journey

Wizards and Muggles alike can enjoy the magical ride through Hogwarts. Follow Harry Potter, Hermione and Ron with every spin, twist and turn as they chase hidden gems in the Gryffindor common room, Quidditch field and even the Room of Requirements.

5. The Amazing Adventures Of Spider-man

Dive into Spider-Man’s world as he takes on some nasty foes—like Doctor Octopus and the Hobgoblin. Dodge exploding pumpkins and swing along with the web-slinger on this Islands of Adventure ride. In fact, bring the whole the family.

6. It’s A Small World

One of the most classic Disney rides in the theme park, step inside that riverboat that takes you around the world as over 300 dolls dressed in traditional costumes sing the Sherman Brothers’ “It’s a Small World.” (We’re sorry in advance if it gets stuck in your head for the rest of the day.)

7. Pirates Of The Caribbean

Yep! You can hop on one of Disney-goers’ favorite rides right in your own living room. All you need to do is channel your inner sea rover and appetite for adventure to blend in with the rest of the pirates. Oh, and keep an eye out Captain Jack Sparrow.

8. The Many Adventures Of Winnie The Pooh

Immerse yourself—and the kids—in the wonderful world of Winnie the Pooh and his friends. Visit the Hundred-Acre Woods and its honey-filled beehives as you play along with Tigger, Piglet and Eeyore.

9. The Incredible Hulk Coaster

Ride Description

Epcot’s Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind is a groundbreaking roller coaster ride that takes guests on a spinning journey through the cosmos, with immersive Audio-Animatronics and special effects. The attraction is based on the Marvel Cinematic Universe Guardians of the Galaxy films and is Walt Disney World’s first Marvel-themed attraction.

The ride is much like Space Mountain in that it is entirely in the dark. However, it is even more intense from the very beginning, as riders are reverse launched through a “jump point” into space. Loud music plays all around, and riders never know which direction they’re headed – up or down – thanks to the omnicoaster design, which allows the coaster to rotate and spin 360 degrees. Cosmic Rewind also features the longest enclosed space in any Disney theme park attraction, providing guests with an otherworldly journey through the stars.

With its innovative design and cutting-edge technology, Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind is an unforgettable ride for the whole family. For this reason, we rank Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind as the best roller coaster at Disney World and #1 on our best Epcot rides list.

Who is it Best For?

Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind is an excellent ride for tweens, teens, and adults who love thrills. The ride is full of twists, turns, and drops, sure to get your heart racing. In addition, the interactive queue is a great way to spend some time before you board. You can safety-test your blaster skills and help the Guardians prepare for their next big adventure. And if you’re a fan of the Guardians of the Galaxy movies, you’ll want to check out this ride.

2. TRON Lightcycle / Run

  • Location: Magic Kingdom (Tomorrowland)
  • Opening Date : April 4, 2023
  • Height Requirement : 48” (122cm) or taller
  • Max Speed : 59 MPH
  • Duration : About 2:00

In recent years, Disney has been working hard to update its theme parks with new rides and attractions that appeal to families. In particular, the company has focused on adding more thrill rides that can compete with some of the best rides at Universal Orlando Resort . So far, this effort has been successful, and Disney’s theme parks have seen an increase in attendance . The latest addition to Disney’s lineup is the TRON Lightcycle / Run roller coaster, with an official launch date of April 4, 2023 .

Disney is no stranger to roller coasters, but the Tron Lightcycle Run is unlike anything else in the park. The coaster-style attraction takes guests on a thrilling ride through the digital frontier on two-wheeled Lightcycles. While a similar ride already exists in Shanghai Disneyland, Walt Disney World is set to benefit from the Tron Lightcycle Run’s unique concept and family-friendly nature.

After receiving a briefing and storing your bags in a convenient free locker, you’ll receive your briefing and board your lightcycle. The seating is similar to that of a motorcycle, or a Banshee if you’re familiar with AVATAR: Flight of Passage at Disney’s Animal Kingdom park. Then it’s into the grid!

A wild Linear Induction Motor (LIM) launch ensures a rapid takeoff. You’re then propelled briefly outside before heading back indoors for the heart of the experience — a race against a rival (digital) team to see who can pass through all the energy points first without getting derezzed .

While most of the ride takes place in a controlled indoor environment, a brief period of the launch is outdoors — and that means you’ll have a slightly different experience if you ride during the day versus at night. Given that the outdoor portion takes place under a large canopy that’s “wedding tent white” during the day and lit with colorful animated lights at night, we suggest a night ride if at all possible.

TRON is a big thrill for tweens, teens, and adults — and of course anyone who saw the TRON movies and wanted to someday enter the grid themselves. Not only does the ride offer a high-speed adrenaline rush, but its rich soundtrack, vivid colors, high-res graphics, and spectacular lighting effects make it quite the sensory experience!

  • Height Requirement : 35″ (89cm) or taller
  • Duration : 00:53

With a height requirement of only 35″, this roller coaster is perfect for young riders, especially as a rite of passage as their first ever roller coaster. The coaster features two trains that seat up to four riders each. The ride begins with a gentle climb up a small hill, followed by a fast drop down into a series of twists and turns. The Barnstormer then winds its way back up another hill before stopping. The entire ride lasts less than a minute, but it will surely get your heart racing.

The coaster is best suited for preschoolers and young kids, as it is relatively short and not too intense. It features several twists and turns but doesn’t reach high speeds or include any inversions. Families with young children will enjoy riding The Barnstormer together, and kids will love riding a roller coaster in the Magic Kingdom without being terrified.

Walt Disney World Reveals the Rules for Its New Coaster

January 27, 2023, 11:19 AM · Walt Disney World's new roller coaster will use a virtual queue and a double-sided, free locker system when it opens on April 4.

TRON Lightcycle Run brings Disney's popular SciFi-themed coaster from Shanghai to Tomorrowland in Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom. Riders will straddle motorcycle-like Lightcycles and enter the Grid for a race representing Team Blue, inspired by Disney's TRON movies.

Here's the on-ride video from the Shanghai original.

In Orlando, riders will need to use either the Walt Disney World app's virtual queue or buy an Individual Lightning Lane spot in order to ride TRON Lightcycle Run when it opens in April. No standby queue will be offered, at least initially.

If the TRON virtual queue operates the same was a Disney's other VQs, including Epcot's Guardians of the Galaxy Cosmic Rewind, there will be two opportunities to enter the queue daily, at 7am and 1pm. Guests will need a Magic Kingdom reservation for the day to enter the queue in the morning, and be inside the park to enter the afternoon opening.

Individual Lightning Lane may be purchased on the day of your visit through Walt Disney World's My Disney Experience app, though quantities will be limited. Prices will vary by date, though you should expect to pay north of $20 per person. You can use the Lightning Lane just once per day.

Once in the queue, however you get there, riders will need to store most items in a free locker before boarding the ride. Disney will provide double-sided lockers that can be activated by your MagicBand or park ticket. (Think of the system that Universal's Islands of Adventure uses for Jurassic World VelociCoaster.)

You can bring a mobile phone onto the ride to stash in a small storage area on your cycle. And you will need to bring that phone with you if you want to take advantage of Disney PhotoPass for your on-ride picture, if you are not wearing a MagicBand. If you are bringing your phone, it will need to be logged into My Disney Experience, with Bluetooth activated and with the phone not in battery save or low power mode to get your on-ride photo automatically associated with your Disney PhotoPass.

But if you've got a MagicBand on you, the PhotoPass process should work like any other ride in the park.

Again, TRON Lightcycle Run opens officially on April 4 at Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom . The height restriction will be 48 inches. No word yet on soft openings before that date, but they are expected.

So sad. The opening of a cool new ride and my first thought is to assume Disney will limit the number of free riders so they gouge people into paying $20 a head to get ILL.

It instantly puts a bad taste in the mouth. The THOUSANDS I'm paying to be there isn't enough, Disney, you have to squeeze another $80 out of my family to ride the new ride one time?

Good riddance, screw your new ride, I hope a light-cycle cuts in front of the train. Money grubbing a-holes, Disney's name is mud to me. And no, it doesn't matter that they've done this before, every time they do it is just that much more obnoxious.

spider_

noooo not more virtual queues

And, @thecolonel, in reference to what you said about Disney doing this before, that's why they're doing it again. As long as people will pay you can bet Disney will charge extra. They have a mindset of "if it worked before, it'll work again...." that they use to price gouge their visitors. I love Disney and am excited about this ride (the need for lockers gives an idea as to how wild the ride could potentially be), but I'm worried that every E-ticket to come will follow the precedent of penalizing the people who aren't willing to fork over extra cash to experience it.

Jake007

I actually think it's very good that instead of a 5-hour line for a decent but not great roller coaster I can just get into a boarding group on my phone.

Sure, the boarding group is great, no problems there. But it's free, yes? And egalitarian, everyone has an equal chance. Stop there and I'm fine with it.

But Disney doesn't have an initial period where it's fair to everyone. From the minute the ride opens, people willing to shell out BIG MONEY for a single ride (you get the whole park for $110, but this ride costs $20??) take precedent. Despite claims that ILL passes are limited, we know Disney will gleefully sell as many ILL passes as they can, taking away that many rides from the free rider pool. Is anyone aware of ILL passes ever maxing out on any ride?

I get you, Spider, people pay it so why not. But we expect more from Disney, which is my gripe.

Francis24

I'm actually surprised Universal doesn't do the same! I mean Velocicoaster and Hagrid's would make a killing if they upcharge "express" for those rides individually. Great way to make extra money but I'm glad they don't.

rcdude

No surprise here, but like I said previously, I don't consider the ride open until it has a standby line that may be freely entered. As someone who would want to ride both Tron and Guardians multiple times, having a restrictive virtual queue is a dealbreaker when it comes to considering a WDW trip. It made sense on a highly unreliable attraction with a maximum throughput of 1,400 riders per hour, but even with the demand that comes with a new attraction, doesn't make sense on rides that have been proven to reliably move around 2,000 guests every hour and is just a dirty way to make the newest ride a pseudo upcharge.

jhc

"Greed is Good." Bob Chapek, Robert Iger, Gordon Gecko.

robert

"Greedo is Bad." Han Solo.

Tiptop22

Yawn - this ride doesn’t excite me whatsoever .. basically a poor attempt and shorter version of Hagrids with just LED lights and absolutely no tricks

fattyackin

I see you Robert!

But which version of Greedo are we talking about here? Original theatrical or 1997 special edition? Ah hell, I’m already exhausted. Han shot first, but Greedo is also bad

Russtinator

Robert doesn't provide pictures here, but I've seen some photos of the locker banks, and they are much larger than I expected. Given Disney's recent thirst for supplemental revenue, I kind of expected them to use lockers similar to many of the free lockers used at Universal Orlando that cannot accommodate large backpacks and satchels. However, these look to be large enough even for medium-large sized diaper bags and purses.

It seems dirty to allow guests to purchase access to a ride's VQ, but so long as those spots are limited and it's reasonable for guests to access the attraction through the free process, I don't have an issue with it. That has been my impression of the system, particularly since most of the ILL reservations for VQ attractions are sold out BEFORE the VQ is even full. If you don't want to pay for ILL, the fact that it sells out instantly is an indication that guests would rather pay to guarantee access then take their chances with the VQ, leaving more free spots for guests not wanting to pay extra.

Certainly charging for access to individual rides with demand exceeding supply is nothing but a money grab from Disney, but for most of the VQ attractions Disney has offered so far, letting people purchase ILL has actually made it easier for guests to access the free VQ, so I'm not sure why anyone would complain about that. Let the rich people buy their front of the line pass, and do the work to secure a boarding group at rope drop, then take that $20+/person and buy yourself a nice lunch.

Del69

Not sure how you come to that conclusion Russell Meyer.

If people pay for a ILL there is less places available on the VQ

@Del69 - Not necessarily. For simplicity's sake let's say the attraction can take 20,000 riders per day with an estimated 55,000 guests entering the MK on an average day. Now, the height restriction will naturally reduce the number of guests that can ride the coaster with another chunk of guests self-selecting themselves as not wanting to ride. For the sake of argument we could assume somewhere around 30,000 guests WANT to ride the coaster and will compete for those 20,000 spots.

Now, if all those spots are put into a free VQ system, all 30k of those guests will want to do their upmost to get their spot on the ride, giving advantage to guests who are quicker on the trigger or know the tricks to secure their spot faster (connecting to park WiFi, being logged in ahead of time, refreshing the app at the right time, etc...). No matter what, there will still be 10k unhappy people, many of whom will probably not get their spot because they're late logging in, have technical issues, or simply don't understand the process to get in the VQ.

Now let's assume that Disney sets aside 5,000 of those 20,000 spots for ILL to generate additional revenue, meaning there's still 15,000 spots available for free. The guests who are willing to pay for their spot or just have money to burn will buy one of the 5,000 ILLs, which is 5,000 fewer people trying to secure their spot in the regular VQ. That's 25,000 guests vying for 15,000 spots (a slight decrease in your overall percentage of scoring a spot 60% compared to 66.7% with no upcharge). However, a larger percentage of knowledgeable and experienced guests are likely to go for the ILLs, meaning less intense competition for the standard VQ because you still need to know about and log onto MDE early in order to get those ILLs before they sell out. Even if you think ILL won't dilute the pool and reduce the competition for free VQ spots, ILL probably doesn't impact the overall odds of securing a VQ spot that much (likely less than 10%). In the end, there are STILL 10,000 unhappy guests who don't get to ride.

Right, the only way ILL reduces capacity is if there are hundreds (or thousands) of tickets available at the end of the day that go unused — thus "robbing" guests who just want a free virtual queue spot of the opportunity. That's certainly possible, but based on my experience with new attractions at Disneyland (Spider-Man and Rise), it's certainly not a common experience. I've always been able to get a free virtual queue spot. It's not until the virtual queue went away that I began to be tempted by ILL.

coasterdude

Disney wouldn't be charging $20 if it didn't think people would buy it.

So basically this is going to be set up like Guardians with VQ and LL. Fine. Not great, but fine. We can live with that

SC121

I loathe the virtual queues. I haven't wasted the last several years playing on smart phones, thus I'm at a huge disadvantage against the "fast finger" crowd. I hear that boarding groups fill up in two seconds. Oh joy, I'd love to get up at the crack of dawn just to get shafted.

I just pray we can get an ILL. That'll be our only chance to ride this.

BTW, does anyone know if Disney is finally ditching the damn boarding groups for GOTG? It's high time for a standby line.

Best Roller Coasters at Disney World (ranked from least to most intense)

Are you a thrill-ride seeking Disney fan looking for information on the coaster options for your next trip?

We can help! Here are the best roller coasters at Walt Disney World, with rankings from least to most intense.

In this article

Disney World Roller Coasters Ranked by Intensity

  • Goofy’s Barnstormer (least intense)

Seven Dwarfs Mine Train

Slinky dog dash.

  • Big Thunder Mountain

Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind

Space mountain, expedition everest, rock ‘n’ roller coaster starring aerosmith (most intense).

roller coasters ranked infographic

When it came time to rank the roller coasters at Walt Disney World, we sought help from over 200 of our favorite Disney World super fans . They provided their opinions on what is the mildest coaster all the way to the most intense.

Want to see how *all* the thrill rides stack up?

Magic Kingdom Roller Coasters

Although many people consider Magic Kingdom to be the place to go with young kids, it also has 4 (soon to be 5!) roller coasters for thrill seekers of all ages to enjoy. That’s the most coasters in any of the 4 Walt Disney World theme parks.

Here’s what you will find there:

Barnstormer Starring The Great Goofini (least intense)

Min. height required : 35″ (89 cm) or taller

  • Early Theme Park Entry? Yes
  • Genie+ or Individual Lightning Lane Selection ? Genie+
  • Best time(s) to ride with the lowest waits: Early Theme Park Entry, anytime standby, or anytime with G+

Goofy’s Barnstormer is a great entry-level coaster for little ones who feel ready to give a bigger attraction a try.

Barnstormer

Located back in Storybook Circus, this coaster has a couple of smaller hills, but nothing too sharp or steep. And, the entire thing is outdoors, which makes it easy for curious little ones to check it out before they commit to riding it.

Big Thunder Mountain Railroad

Min. height required : 40″ (102 cm) or taller

  • Early Theme Park Entry? No
  • Best time(s) to ride with the lowest waits: First hour or last hour of the day (standby line), or anytime with G+

They don’t call this one “the wildest ride in the wilderness” for nothing.

big thunder mountain railroad

Expect some sharp turns, but no super high drops on this coaster.

It’s also a bit bumpy at times, but not as bad as its notoriously rough mountain cousin, Space Mountain.

Big Thunder Mountain Railroad

  • Read more about Big Thunder Mountain Railroad

Min. height required: 44″ (113 cm) or taller

  • Genie+ or Individual Lightning Lane Selection ? Depends on the season (busier times it is Genie+, less busy times Individual Lighting Lane)
  • Best time(s) to ride with the lowest waits: Early Theme Park Entry, first or last hour of the day (standby line), anytime with G+, or anytime with ILL

Get ready to blast off into space on this classic indoor coaster.

space mountain ride vehicle

Adding to the thrills of this nearly totally in-the-dark ride are the glimpses of the tracks you’ll catch as you whiz by. Good grief, they look so close!

This coaster is known to be a bit rough. So, make sure the fillings in your teeth are secure before climbing aboard.

space mountain at night

  • Read more about Space Mountain

Min. height required: 38″ (97 cm) or taller

  • Genie+ or Individual Lightning Lane Selection ? Individual Lightning Lane Selection (pay-to-ride)
  • Best time(s) to ride with the lowest waits: Early Theme Park Entry, first or last hour of the day (standby line), or anytime with ILL

Seven Dwarfs Mine Train is as smooth of a ride as Space Mountain is rough.

Seven Dwarfs Mine Train sign

This roller coaster has no super-high drops here, just some mild drops, tight turns, and classic Disney character fun.

Plus, if you have a hesitant rider, this attraction is very, very short, which is unfortunate because the lines here can be very, very long.

Tron Lightcycle /Run (roller coaster)

  • Min. Height Required: 48″ (122 cm) or taller
  • Genie+ or Individual Lightning Lane Selection ? Individual Lightning Lane available, along with a virtual queue
  • Best time(s) to ride with the lowest waits: With an Individual Lightning Lane Selection or with a boarding group in the virtual queue

TRON Lightcycle / Run is as fast and as exciting as it looks. Even though there aren’t any inversions or spinning ride vehicles, the roller coaster is intense .

The coaster gets up to speeds of 60 mph, and trust us when we say it definitely feels like you’re going that fast. Plus, it’s one of the fastest coasters at any Disney theme park in the world.

tron lightcycle / run in tomorrowland

This new coaster is semi-enclosed, and kind of like the ride vehicles used for Flight of Passage, guests ride the cycle instead of sitting like on a traditional coaster.

While the cycles aren’t the most comfortable (both your back and calves are strapped in, while your chest lays flat), they definitely add to the intensity of the ride and make it super thrilling.

TRON seats

Overall, it’s pretty smooth. You could compare it to the thrill-level of Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster and Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind.

Epcot Roller Coasters

Epcot will get its very first coaster in May 2022 when the brand-new Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind opens up.

Min height required: 42″ (107 cm) or taller

  • Early Theme Park Entry? No. But it is available during Extended Evening Theme Park Hours
  • Genie+ or Individual Lightning Lane Selection ? Individual Lightning Lane OR Virtual Queue
  • Best time(s) to ride with the lowest waits: since there is no Standby Line, your only option is to ride during your scheduled return time for either your Individual Lightning Lane and/or Virtual Queue

Epcot is home to the brand-new Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, which is an indoor roller coaster themed after Marvel’s  Guardians of the Galaxy franchise.

cosmic rewind nova corps starblastr ship

The roller coaster features the first-ever reverse launch for a Disney coaster and is one of the longest enclosed coasters in the world.

If that isn’t enough, the ride vehicles rotate 360 degrees!

This ride is pretty intense, but a lot more smooth than Space Mountain.

Adding to the intensity, is a propensity for motion sickness . Not everyone will get sick on this ride, but it does seem like the ones who do, get really sick.

Hollywood Studios Roller Coasters

Hollywood Studios has a ton of thrill rides, including 2 of the most popular coasters in all of Walt Disney World: Slinky Dog Dash and Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster.

Min. height required: 48″ (122 cm) or taller

  • Best time(s) to ride with the lowest waits: Early Theme Park Entry, first or last hour of the day (standby line), anytime with the Single Rider Line , or anytime with G+

Picture Steven Tyler and Aerosmith singing loudly into your ears.

Now, picture Steven Tyler and Aerosmith singing loudly into your ears while you are shooting forward at 60 miles per hour.

rock n roller coaster hollywood studios

If that sounds like an awesome time to you, then this is something you’ll definitely want to check out.

Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster is totally indoors, has a killer launch, and pairs the loud rock sounds of Aerosmith with a silky smooth coaster-ride.

Oh, and did we mention it goes upside down?

rock n roller coaster ride photo

  • Read more about Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster
  • Best time(s) to ride with the lowest waits: Early Theme Park Entry, first or last hour of the day (standby line), or anytime with G+

The other roller coaster at Hollywood Studios is Slinky Dog Dash, which is just about as cute as Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster is loud.

slinky dog dash coaster

With a couple of launches milder than those of Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster and drops a bit more intense than those of Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, this coaster is a good “in-between” option for people working their way up to the bigger thrills.

slinky dog dash

  • Read more about Slinky Dog Dash

Animal Kingdom Roller Coasters

Animal Kingdom is where you can find Expedition Everest, which is one of the best themed of all the roller coasters (as well as one of the most intense!).

  • Best time(s) to ride with the lowest waits: Early Theme Park Entry, first 2 or last 2 hours of the day (standby line), anytime with the Single Rider Line , anytime with G+, or anytime with ILL (when available)

This coaster is insanely unique and even though there are no inversions, the portions where you go backward almost feel as if you’re upside down.

Expedition Everest

Everything about this attraction screams THRILL.

Well, everything except for the Disco Yeti (but rumors are always swirling that he’s going to be fixed soon).

If adrenaline is what you run on, you can definitely fuel up here.

Do any of the roller coasters at Disney World go upside down?

Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster is the only coaster at Walt Disney World goes upside down. There is a segment of Expedition Everest (where you are going backwards) that some report feels as if you are going upside down, however, you really aren’t.

Roller coaster & thrill ride data

When it came time to rank Disney World’s thrill rides and roller coasters, we preferred not to make all the decisions ourselves.

Instead, we asked members of our WDW Prep School Patreon private Facebook group to help us out.

Ranked choice voting (probably) would have been the best/most accurate method to determine the order.

However, we wanted to keep things as simple as possible.

So instead of rank choice, we asked each participant to assign all the thrill rides an intensity level individually from 1 (least intense) to 10 (most intense).

From there, we took the averages and compared those to the most common responses to make sure things remained consistent.

Here is how the data looked:

thrill ride data

Note: We are curious to see how Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewinds ranks with our readers. We plan to repeat this process after it has been open for a while. And, we’ll do the same thing once TRON opens, too.

Everything to Know About Disney World's Roller Coasters

Courtesy of Disney

As the most visited theme park resort on the planet, Walt Disney World has some of the world's most popular rides. From Space Mountain to Expedition Everest to the Rock 'n' Roller Coaster, Disney's roller coasters are among parkdom's most celebrated. Get ready for your next trip to Florida's Mouse House and gauge the thrills that await you.

Ranked from 0 for the mildest to 10 as the ultimate scream machine, even Disney’s most intense coaster isn’t as hair-raising as some of the crazy mega-coasters at other theme parks like Six Flags. But there’s something for everyone at Disney World.

The Barnstormer

For younger guests who don't meet the height requirements of the Magic Kingdom's bigger coasters and for more timid visitors who aren't quite ready to tackle the bigger thrills those coasters deliver, the Barnstormer makes a great entry-level ride. Even thrill warriors can enjoy this fun, if brief, junior coaster. If you want to overcome your coaster fears, you could give the Barnstormer a whirl as the first step of an immersion program.

The Barnstormer gets a 2.5 ranking for some mild drops, twists, and turns. The height requirement is 35 inches, and you can find the ride in  Fantasyland  in the Magic Kingdom.

Seven Dwarfs Mine Train

The Seven Dwarfs Mine Train features a pivoting coaster car design that allows the cars to swing to and fro. It does have some startling animated characters in the show portion of the attraction. It's fast and thrilling, but not too fast. It's a great step up from The Barnstormer and a good gateway ride for young kids eager to experience coaster thrills.

With a top speed of 34 miles per hour, Seven Dwarfs Mine Train ranks a 4 for thrills. The height requirement is 38 inches. The attraction has a bunch of cool features that make this ride worth the wait. You can find Seven Dwarfs Mine Train in Fantasyland in the Magic Kingdom.

Slinky Dog Dash

Like Rock 'n' Roller Coaster (listed below), Slinky Dog Dash is a launched coaster, but it is considerably less intimidating than some of Disney's other thrill rides. Still, the two launches will grab anyone’s attention and deliver some excitement—albeit on the relatively mild side. As with the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, it's a great gateway coaster for younger visitors or adults who are hesitant to go on higher-potency rides.

Slinky Dog Dash also has a low height requirement of 38 inches, making it accessible to young children. It ranks 4.25 for thrills and is located in Toy Story Land at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

Big Thunder Mountain Railroad

One of Disney World's famed "mountains," Big Thunder Mountain Railroad goes 9 miles per hour faster than its Tomorrowland counterpart, Space Mountain. Because it is outdoors and not shrouded in darkness, however, Thunder Mountain feels slower. It features three separate lift hills—that's a lot of click-clack-clicking—and offers one of the longest rides of any Disney roller coaster (about three minutes long). An instant classic, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad remains a perennial Magic Kingdom favorite.

Thunder Mountain garners a 4.5 on the thrill-o-meter, but it has more twists and turns than big drops. The height requirement is 40 inches. It can be found in Frontierland in the Magic Kingdom.

Space Mountain

Space Mountain is arguably the most famous indoor roller coaster of all time, and it is also one of the most enduring and popular of all Disney World attractions. With sister rides at the other Disney parks, this iconic coaster hits a relatively tame top speed of 27 mph, but the darkness and the effects (which are getting a bit cheesy by today's standards) make it seem more thrilling.

Space Mountain is a 5, thanks to more twists and turns than big drops, and the darkness factor adds to the thrill. The height requirement is 44 inches. It can be found in Tomorrowland in the Magic Kingdom.

Expedition Everest

Along with Rock 'n' Roller Coaster (listed below), Expedition Everest is among the most thrilling rides at Disney World . For a portion of the ride, passengers race backward through the mountain in the dark. Unfortunately, the huge animatronic Yeti inside the mountain that used to swipe at passing riders broke down soon after the attraction opened and has not been repaired.

Expedition Everest gets a 6 for its fairly intense positive G-forces, backward coaster motion, and portions of darkness. The height requirement is 44 inches. It can be found in Asia in the Animal Kingdom .

Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind

Recently opened in Epcot in the spring of 2022, the Guardians of the Galaxy attraction is a highly themed story coaster. The story, of course, is based on the popular Marvel band of intergalactic misfits. Among its features, it includes coaster vehicles that are able to pivot 360 degrees and direct passengers to the focal points of the show scenes. It is also one of the world’s longest indoor coasters, and Disney's first reverse-launch coaster.

You must be at least 42 inches to ride. With a backward launch, small drops, a similar level of darkness as Space Mountain, and an appearance by Eson the Searcher, we're rating this a 6 on thrills.

Rock 'n' Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith

There are no huge drops, soaring airtime moments, or nosebleed heights. But the Rock 'n' Roller Coaster does feature a 0-to-57-miles per hour launch in 2.8 seconds. It includes inversions, but it's hard to tell right-side-up from upside-down in the darkened show building. The pulsating onboard audio from Aerosmith contributes to the thrills.

Rock 'n' Roller Coaster gets a 6.5 for its fast launch, inversions, and portions of darkness. The height requirement is 48 inches, and it can be found in the Sunset Boulevard section of the Hollywood Studios .

Planned to open in Tomorrowland in the spring of 2023, the TRON attraction will be an E-Ticket ride extraordinaire. Based on TRON Lightcycle Power Run at Shanghai Disneyland , the Magic Kingdom ride promises to be the most thrilling coaster at Disney World and possibly its best. Based on Disney’s TRON sci-fi films, the attraction will place passengers on motorbike-like vehicles and blast them into the video game world of the Grid. We experienced the original attraction in China and found it exhilarating. That ride gets a 6.5 for its intense launch and speed; at nearly 60 mph, it is the fastest coaster at any Disney park.

The Best Roller Coasters at Disneyland

W alt Disney World and Disneyland are known for their beautifully themed rides. The storyline can often be as exciting and fun as the actual attraction. However, the Disney parks also offer some thrilling roller coasters, and although these also have stories, the ride experience in itself is exhilarating.

While Disneyland and Walt Disney World do have some attractions in common, there are some popular rides at Walt Disney World, like the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, the Rock N Roller Coaster, Slinky Dog Dash, and Expedition Everest – that don’t have West Coast counterparts. Here are the best roller coasters at Disneyland including some of the best rides at the parks.

Disclosure: This post contains affiliate links, and a purchase/click through one of these links may result in a commission paid to us at no additional cost to you. I have received complimentary admission to Disneyland as part of my participation in a conference and have also paid my own way.

Need Disneyland tickets? Save money on your Disneyland California theme park tickets and your Southern California vacation by booking through  Get Away Today . You can also save $10 on your  Southern California  vacation of 2 days or more with the code FTM10.

Incredicoaster

Located in Disney’s California Adventure on Pixar Pier, the Incredicoaster is a thrilling outdoor roller coaster that does a big upside-down loop. It’s the only ride at Disneyland that goes upside down, and it also goes very fast. Built initially as California Screamin’, the Incredicoaster now features the Incredibles. You’ll go on a speedy adventure as you search for Jack-Jack, who recently escaped from Edna’s watch.

The Incredicoaster offers Genie+ as well as a single rider line . We found that the lines for the Incredicoaster were relatively short in the morning, but got longer as the day went on. Although we had booked Genie+ early, we really didn’t need it. If you enjoy this ride, it may be best to head there early when you can ride more than once without a long wait.

You must be at least 48 inches to ride the Incredicoaster. There is a ride photo, and you can see your pictures as you exit the ride.

Goofy’s Sky School

Learn how to fly with Goofy, which isn’t always the most straightforward way! This mild coaster, located at Disney’s California Adventure is different from Goofy’s Barnstormer in the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney WorldGoof but is still a great introductory roller coaster. It does have some sharp turns and can be exciting, but it doesn’t go too fast or upside down.

Guests must be at least 42 inches to ride. It offers both a Genie+ lightning lane as well as a single rider line. However, the standby line doesn’t usually get too long, so this may be one queue worth waiting in rather than using a Genie+ allocation on it.

Space Mountain

I’ve been to the various versions of Space Mountain at several Disney parks, and it’s still one of my favorite classic rides. The location at Disneyland, in Tomorrowland, seems to be darker and even more thrilling. You are pretty much in complete darkness as you travel at high speeds.

Unlike Walt Disney World, the Space Mountain ride vehicle at Disneyland has 2×2 seating. I prefer that, especially when traveling with younger kids who may be riding for the first time.

Space Mountain has a height requirement of 40 inches. It’s a very dark ride, so keep that in mind for younger children who are afraid of the dark. It doesn’t have a single rider line, but it does have a lightning lane through Genie+.

Big Thunder Mountain Railroad

This is probably the most classic style roller coaster-style ride at Disneyland. It’s an outdoor coaster, and while it goes fast and has big drops, it doesn’t go upside down. It’s one of my family’s favorite rides and is one we have to do every time we visit the theme parks. Because it’s not too scary, it’s a great option for kids who are just getting into riding coasters.

Big Thunder Mountain Railroad has a 40-inch height requirement and also has a Genie+ lightning lane. It is popular, so you may want to go early or get a lightning lane pass for it.

Matterhorn Bobsleds

The Matterhorn Bobsleds is a classic ride at Disneyland. It doesn’t have a counterpart at Walt Disney World, so you’ll have to travel to California to ride it. The Matterhorn does have a lot of jerky motions and isn’t the most comfortable on backs or necks.

Despite that, we still had to ride it on our most recent trip, because it is such an iconic attraction. However, it isn’t one of the best rides – we prefer the other roller coasters.

In this ride, you’ll race down a mountain on a bobsled, trying to avoid the Abominable Snowman. Despite the mountain appearance, this ride isn’t the same as Expedition Everest in Disney’s Animal Kingdom at Walt Disney World.

The Matterhorn Bobsleds offers a lightning lane and a single rider line. All riders must be at least 42 inches to ride.

Other Thrill Rides at Disneyland

Disneyland offers other thrill rides that are not considered roller coasters. However, these rides are still lots of fun and can be very thrilling.

At Disney’s California Adventure, these include the following:

  • Radiator Springs Racers, where you’ll ride in a race car around Radiator Springs in a car inspired by Disney Pixar Cars. This ride has an Individual Lightning Lane and a single rider line. It’s one of the most popular attractions, and the standby line typically has long waits.
  • Guardians of the Galaxy Mission: BREAKOUT!: an elevator-style thrill ride where you drop down and fly up at random and unpredictable rates along to a movie-inspired soundtrack. This attraction offers a Genie+ lightning lane.

At Disneyland Park, these rides include:

  • Star Wars Rise of the Resistance: An attraction that is more than a ride, it’s a full Star Wars experience. This new ride, located in Galaxy’s Edge, offers an individual lighting lane and is extremely popular. Purchase the individual lightning lane or arrive early in the morning to avoid long lines.
  • Indiana Jones Adventure: In this ride, similar to Dinosaur at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, you’ll feel like you are riding in a vehicle in the rough terrain of the desert. It’s a unique feeling and lots of fun. The Indiana Jones Adventure offers a Genie+ lightning lane.
  • Pirates of the Caribbean: While this is definitely a tamer dark ride, it does have a few more drops than its East Coast counterpart. Pirates of the Caribbean offers a Genie+ lightning lane.
