Overview And Highlights

Annapurna Mini Trek is truly called all the best of trekking as it takes you to the most spectacular mountains of the Annapurna Region . The major highlight of this trip includes the hike to Poon Hill (3,210m), which offers magnificent mountain views of the sunrise over the hills as the rays land on the giant massifs.

The spectacular panoramic views of Mt: Dhaulagiri (8,167m), Mt: Fishtail (6,997m), Mt: Annapurna (8,091m), Mt: Annapurna II, Mt: Annapurna South, Nilgiri, Tukuche, Dhampus peak, Butterfly mountain, Hiuchuli, and many others are seen prominently on clear weather.

The other highlight of this trek is Dhampus village, an authentic place located in the Annapurna region with pristine traditions and culture. You will descend following a narrow Trekking trail through rhododendron forests that offer frequent views of Mt. Fishtail. Ghandruk is a Homelands of British Gurkha Army.

Airport reception:.

The Nepal Unique Treks guide will be waiting for you at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu. A guide will show your Name card that is easy to recognize. From the Airport to the Hotel 6.5 km drive will take 20/30 m. Check-in Hotel and detailed briefing about your Trekking in Nepal . Complete the official documents and agreements.

Accommodations during the Trek

We use three-star categories Hotels in Kathmandu and Pokhara including breakfast. Our Hotel is clean, safe, luxurious, best environment, with 24-hour Hot Shower, Internet with great hospitality. When we start trekking we have a nice guesthouse in the mountains.

They will provide us with a clean and comfortable twin-sharing bed with floppy warm blankets. During the Annapurna Mini Trek, if it is possible we will book an attached room but normally in mountain toilet and bathroom is outside your room

Food during the Trek

Kathmandu and Pokhara are the main cities for travelers so we have delicious food. You may choose on the menu they have a variety of yummy foods and many foreign types of restaurants with different cuisines in a city like Chinese, Indian, Continental, Tibetan, and Nepalese.

During your trek, we can have homemade fresh and organic food also in the mountains they have a menu to choose good food but compared with the city looks different. You will like mountain food because they serve food with a happy, smile.

Nepal Unique Trekking Team

Our trekking team, guide, and porters are eligible to work as professionals and responsible. Our guides are trained and certified by the Nepal Government. A guide can speak well English.

So they are perfect to introduce to mountains and villages. Your Trek start-to-end guide will look after you and handle the team. Our porter is Healthy and strong they can carry your trekking duffel bag. One porter will carry 2 clients' bags and each bag weighs 12 kg.

For safety, Nepal Unique Treks have trekking insurance to cover the risk of trekking. Transportation, accommodation, and food are provided by the agency. During the trek, you feel like family and good friends with your guide, The Guide will care about your safety, success, satisfaction, and service.

Day 1 : kathmandu to pokhara by flight and drive to ulleri village 2050m, 4 hrs drive..

You may enjoy the breakfast in your Hotel. Your guide and driver will visit your Hotel and 30 m drive to the domestic Airport in Kathmandu. scenic mountain flight from Kathmandu to Pokhara. It takes 30m. You will enjoy the flight over the Annapurna and Ganesh Himalaya range. 

A warm welcome at Pokhara International Airport, meeting with local porter, and start driver to  Ulleri village It takes 3 hours. Pokhara to Nayapul amazing drive with beautiful scenery of Annapurna Himalaya and local gurung villages. from Nayapul to Ulleri village by off-road it will be an exciting, bumpy drive through Birethati, Ramghai, Hile, Tikhe Dhunga Village, and Ulleri Village. 

At Birethati your guide will enter the Annapurna Conservation permits. It has been issued  (ACCAP) Office in Kathmandu by Nepal Unique Treks, After entry the your trekking permits you can trek around the Annapurna conservation.  In the evening walk around  Ulleri village and explore the local lifestyle, culture, and tradition of villages. 

Day 2 : Ulleri Viallage to Ghorepani 2874m, 5/6 hrs

Beautiful Sunshine welcomes you and has a warm breakfast at Teahouse. Pack your day bags and start hiking to Ghorepani through Nangethati and Lower Ghorepani. It will be enjoyable and beautiful trekking under the rain forest, crossing some spring rivers, and discovering the Rhododendron forest which is the national flower of Nepal. In the early afternoon, check in at the guesthouse in Ghorepani and enjoy the mountain scenery with the magnificent Sunset of Annapurna and Dhaulagiri Himal. 

Day 3 : Poonhill Viewpoint, Ghorepani to Tadapani 2630m, 8 hrs,

Weakup early morning at 4 am and hike to Poonhill viewpoint.  It will be steps ascending to reach the viewpoint, and it takes one hour and 30 minutes. A very surprised view welcomed you at viewpoints with mesmerizing, panoramic Annapurna Himalaya view with a stunning sunrise view. 

Sunrays change the mountain colors it will be a very dramatic view all the mountain looks like gold coverage on the mountain. From left to right on your side magnificent Himalayan range which we called by name Mt Dhaulagiri range, Tukuche Peak, Gangapurna, Nilgiri Himal, Annapurna South, Himchuli, Brahashikhara, Mt Annapurna I, and Mt Fishtail. A moment captured by your camera and take a warm tea and coffee at Poonhill 3210m.

In winter time  Poonhill is decorated by fresh snow and looks like much snowhill peak. and if you trek to the spring session it looks more fabulous colorful flowers decorated by Rhododendrom Nepali National Flowers. 

Trek back to the Guest House and have breakfast.  Start hiking to Tadapani. Today you feel more relaxed with beautiful Nature because during the trek you will explore the rain forest, Annapurna Snowo peaks, spring rivers, Rhododendron flowers, Small bamboo trees, and a few human settlements. Today's trek will be up and down and some narrow steps going to Tadapani from Deurali tea house. 

Day 4 : Tadapani to Jhinu Dada (Hot spring) 1780m, 5/6 hrs

The monkey will make a noise in the jungle, and Birds will whistle near by your windows. Then you will wake up and enjoy the sunrise view of Annapurna South, Himchuli, and Mt Machhapuchhre.

Take a warm breakfast and trek to Jhinu Dada. Trek under the lovely rainforest until the  Chuile village. from there to  Bhurjung Khola steep downhill. After crossing the suspension bridge you may feel easy and comfortable. And After lunch 40 m more descending trails to Jhinu Dada. Check in the Guesthouse and take some rest to recover your energy and tiredness. 

Early afternoon 20 m hike to Naturel Hotspring at Madikhola River. For around 1 hour you will enjoy, and get the natural treatment of your body from the Hotspring bath. In the evening enjoy dinner with our trekking staff.

Tomorrow is the last day of the trek so they might need some drinks and some Nepali culture dance with you for a memorable moment. The last day trek will departure everyone to go home. to see family and share the trekking experience with loved ones. Goodnight. 

Day 5 : Jhinu Dada to Pokhara by privet Jeep 810m, 4 hrs

Take a warm breakfast then start your hike to cross a suspension bridge. Just next to the bridge, your jeep will be waiting for you. Your guide will introduce our driver and start a safe drive to Pokhara.  Trekking Staff will drop off at the bus station. They will depart to go home.

The Annapurna Mini Trek has ended today. Check in Pokhara Hotel for your Luxurious stay. In the evening enjoy the delicious food in Lakeside. There are many options to go night Club of Pokhara, Shopping, Massage, and explore around there in your style.

Day 6 : pokhara to kathmandu 1345m.

When you arrive in Pokhara, we have two options to go back to Kathmandu. Pokhara to Kathmandu by flight 30m, it takes $110 per person. and by tourist bus $10 it will takes 9 hrs.  if you don't have time and you don't like long drives then Pokhara to Kathmandu by flight will be worth it. 

If like to extend the journey, We can do Pokhara Valley sightseeing, Lumbini Chitwan, and the Kathmandu Valley tour. Consult with a trekking agency that helped you organize the Annapurna Mini Trek.

The oldest Range-Rover in the world

Chassis n° 100/6

This is chassis number 100/6, the sixth of the seven Engineering Prototypes built between 1967 and 1969. It is the oldest surviving Range Rover in the world, chassis numbers 100/1 to 100/5 having been scrapped in-period.

100/6 was registered as AOY 289H in August 1969. In November and December that year, it and sister Velar 100/5 (WYK 315H) participated in extensive durability trials in Algeria, Niger and Morocco, including a double crossing of the Sahara and reconnaissance for a planned press and dealer launch route in Morocco. The trials, which were led by Mike Foster of Minitrek Expeditions, were filmed by a Pathé News crew and a film was later released under the title ‘Sahara South’. The car also appears in the 1970 Range Rover promotional film ‘A car for all reasons’. In May 1970 the car took part in a further proving expedition to France and Switzerland, this time in the company of 100/7.

While in Rover company ownership it was used for badging trials, investigation into dust-sealing improvements which the expedition to the Sahara had shown to be required, the development of power-assisted steering, the rear wiper/wash system and also featured in pre-launch promotional photographs.

It was eventually sold by the company in 1974 and went through a succession of owners, finally ending up completely dismantled and spread across three farms in North Devon.

In the early 1990s the car was acquired in pieces by an enthusiast who renovated it over a period of several years, going to great lengths to preserve the various unique features of the car.

In 2013 it was borrowed by JLR to participate in the global media launch of the all-new fourth generation Range Rover, during which 100/6 returned to the sands of Morocco for the first time in 44 years.

A camper is only truly happy when he finds that great unspoiled spot out in the middle of the wilderness. Happy times!

I shot this in October 1970 on a trip run by a company called Minitrek, which ran holidays in North Africa and at the end of the season they had get their Landrovers (yes proper ones) back to the UK, so we flew out Morocco for a trip around and then a drive back to the UK.

The original was shot on a cheap Halina in Kodachrome and scanned using my Nikon and Tamron Macro lens.

This sleek, stylish compact camper truck was released in 1981.

The last remains of a tree, seen on a mini-trek in Kashmir. This photo always makes me feel agoraphobic.

My guess is that this is an ash shovel, for removing ash from a stove. I know it's hard to see, but the handle is curved and the sides of the shovel are curved up. The gray part could be caked-on ash, and there's some on the bottom, too. How can one test for these things? Found in Deep Brook in North Chelmsford.

Minitrekking On Perito Moreno Glacier: Everything You Need To Know

Mini ice trekking on Perito Moreno Glacier offers a unique and fascinating experience to witness its stunning features, such as deep cracks, blue moulins, huge seracs, and turquoise ponds. Before You Start Trekking On Perito Moreno Glacier

Before embarking on the trek to Perito Moreno Glacier, there are a few important things to keep in mind. Firstly, it is not possible to trek on the glacier without a guided tour. These tours are necessary to ensure the safety of visitors and to maintain the integrity of the glacier. Currently, only one company, Hielo & Aventura, is authorized to guide treks on the glacier. Although it is possible to make a reservation through third-party sites and travel agents, just note that they all use the services of the same company.

Hielo & Aventura have a few different excursion options. However, we are going to focus on the Mini Ice Trek in this article.

When you book the Mini Trek, you will have two options to choose from- with transfers or without. If you opt for the transfer, you will have to pay an additional amount of $60 CAD (44.58 USD) per person. The transfer will include a bus ride from your hotel to the glacier and back, along with a visit to the Perito Moreno Glacier walkways.

If you already have a rental car to get around El Calafate, you might choose to opt out of the transfer option. In that case, you will need to meet up with the tour at Bajo de las Sombras port, which is the designated meeting point, unless a different one is provided by Hielo & Aventura after your booking. At the port, everyone will board a ship to cross Lago Rico. During the 20-minute boat ride, you can enjoy breathtaking views of the south face of Perito Moreno Glacier.

It’s worth noting that the trekking guides are fluent in both Spanish and English. They make an effort to limit the group size to 20 people or less, assigning one guide to every ten people. Before embarking on the glacier trek, your guide will assist you in putting on crampons and a helmet, which is provided by Hielo & Aventura. The entire trek is only three hours long. This includes walking on the lake coast, glacier and through the woods. You will only be trekking on the glacier for around an hour. For those looking for a longer hike on the glacier, we highly encourage you to try the Big Ice trek !

To fully enjoy the hiking tour, hikers are advised to carry their own lunch, warm clothing, waterproof boots, gloves, hats, and sufficient water for the day. We personally use gore-tex boots, which are waterproof hiking boots. By no means do you need gore-tex, though they did help to keep our feet dry and warm. You should have a comfortable waterproof shoe for this trek. I use the Vasque St Elias , and Arthur uses La Sportiva Trango . Fun fact: one of our trekking guides had the same pair of boots!

The entire tour lasts approximately 10 hours, which includes transfers and a one-hour visit to the walkways of the Perito Moreno Glacier. During the walkway tour, hikers can either explore the walking trails or spend time inside the canteen and buy souvenirs.

You will need to bring money for the entrance fee to Los Glaciares National Park. This is not included in the guided trek price. You can pay in Argentine pesos or by credit card. The cost as of October 2023 was $10,000 ARS ($39 CAD / 28.58 USD). We suggest bringing extra pesos or USD for tipping your trekking guides.

Lastly, please be sure to read the current restrictions located on the Hielo & Aventura website before buying a ticket. The trek continues in all weather, and some health factors may limit your ability to trek on the glacier.

Our Experience Trekking On Perito Moreno Glacier

Trekking on the Perito Moreno Glacier was the main purpose of our trip to El Calafate, and we’re thrilled that we were able to take the time to visit this charming city. It’s filled with great food (you must try the Asado if you’re in Argentina – it’s amazing), hikers, and it’s in close proximity to the glacier!

When we ordered our tickets, we were told our pick-up was around 8:30 AM. We did have someone from the company reach out via email the night before confirming this and a list of everything we needed to bring with us for the day (e.g. lunch, warm clothing, etc).

It took us approximately an hour and a half from the time we were picked up to reach the port, which included a few additional pick-ups along the way. Upon our arrival, we spotted the Heilo & Aventura boat that would be taking us for a brief ride along the glacier. We waited for a few minutes to ensure that we had everyone who was driving themselves to the port.

The boat ride only lasts 20 minutes, but it offers an incredible view of the glacier, which is a sight to behold! Even though my husband and I usually experience motion sickness on boats, we were pleasantly surprised and able to enjoy the fantastic views without any problems.

After crossing Lago Rico, we disembarked and were sorted into groups based on our preferred language for the trekking guide. Each subgroup can have up to 20 people and is assigned one guide for every ten people.

We set out on our trek, starting along the glacier on the lakeshore. This segment is relatively easy and serves as a great warm-up for the glacier trek. Our guide pointed out a few lookout spots along the way and provided some insights into the glacier’s history and how it constantly changes. Here are a few photos from this section.

As we got closer to the glacier, tour guides pointed out a small ice cave that we could go into before putting on our crampons. It was an exciting part of the trek, as we got a chance to see the stunning interior of the formations up close. If you are claustrophobic, this part might not be for you! During our time in the cave, we had to crouch down for the most part, except for one section where the ceiling was tall enough to allow us to stand up straight. Of course, we took advantage of this opportunity to snap a photo!

After this, we had our crampons fitted and tightened by our trekking guides, grabbed our helmets and set out on our trek. Since you are hiking in a glacier, the terrain is always melting and shifting. Things we saw on our adventure, you may not get to see a week, month or year from now. However, this unpredictability was also what made the experience exciting and fun, as everyone gets to see and experience the glacier differently.

During our trek, we had the opportunity to taste the fresh glacier water. It was an unbelievable experience! A few of us took advantage of this and refilled our bottles for the journey ahead.

Toward the end of our trek on the glacier, the guides celebrated with us by giving each of us a glass of whiskey with some glacier ice. We toasted to the beauty of the glacier and enjoyed the moment together!

As we made our way off the glacier, we took off our crampons and helmets and started the woods section of the hike. The majority of the path is along a boardwalk and a series of stairs, which makes for a serene walk amidst nature. Additionally, you can catch a glimpse of the glacier while strolling along the boardwalk.

After completing the hike, we took a 40-minute lunch break, during which we enjoyed the beautiful views of the glacier. Afterwards, we returned to the boat for a 20-minute ride back to the port. At the port, we boarded the bus to go to our next destination, the walkways. Those who did not opt for the transfer option continued their own adventures in their cars. Membangun sepeda minion – mini trek – mini velo

Sepeda minion, sepeda mini trek, sepeda mini velo, adalah sebutan-sebutan yang sering kita dengar untuk sepeda mini. Walaupun sama-sama kecil, sepeda mini berbeda peruntukan dan karakternya dengan sepeda lipat, sepeda anak, atau sepeda BMX.

Sepeda mini

Sepeda mini adalah sepeda yang dibuat untuk orang dewasa dan remaja, tetapi dengan ukuran yang lebih kecil dari sepeda dewasa pada umumnya yang berukuran 26”, 27.5” (650), dan 29” (700C). Ukuran sepeda mini kebanyakan adalah 16”, 20”, dan 24”, tetapi ada juga yang berukuran 8” dan 12”.

Dikutip dari group Sepeda Mini Indonesia di facebook, istilah minion awalnya dibuat sebagai sapaan untuk komunitas sepeda mini Indonesia, yaitu MINi IndONesia yang disingkat menjadi minion atau minions.

Mungkin kebetulan karena minion juga identik dengan tokoh kartun yang kecil, lucu dan unik, istilah minion terasa pas untuk sepeda mini klasik. Tetapi apapun nama dan sebutannya, kita semua yang dimaksud adalah jenis sepeda mini.

Untuk sepeda mini Velo, istilah ini juga dipakai di luar negeri, lebih spesifik untuk jenis sepeda mini yang mengedepankan fitur kecepatan ( Velo city). Sepeda mini velo mempunyai rangka yang lebih ringan, desain dan struktur untuk performance, bentuk lebih aerodinamis, dan komponen-komponen yang lebih modern.

Sedangkan sepeda mini trek dan minion lebih banyak dikonotasikan pada jenis sepeda kota mini. Kebanyakan direstorasi dari frame lama, dengan komponen-komponen yang lebih baru dan tampilan yang unik.  Tidak ada batasan pasti untuk jenis rangka yang dipakai, bisa rangka U, rangka H, rangka diamond. Tetapi sekarang ini minion yang banyak dicari adalah yang rangka U.

Kebanyakan memakai frame sepeda jadul tahun 80an, seperti mini Phoenix buatan Cina, ada juga memakai frame Jepang, Taiwan atau UK. Frame sepeda mini jadul lain yang mempunyai bentuk U seperti frame Deki, Marubeni, Oyama, Akibo, Subaru, dll. Sepeda mini dengan frame U sendiri dibuat dengan geometri rangka yang mendukung untuk perempuan atau anak remaja, yang tidak memiliki top tube (batang di depan dudukan/sadel), yang memudahkan untuk turun dan berdiri di tengah sepeda. Dilengkapi dengan keranjang, tambahan boncengan di belakang, dan single gear yang ringan. Cocok untuk pemakaian dalam kota, tidak mengandalkan kecepatan, dan pemakaian yang simpel.

Kenapa sepeda mini

Yang membuat sepeda minion unik adalah setelah direstorasi ulang, memiliki tampilan yang unik, keren, lucu, yang berbeda dari sepeda-sepeda pada umumnya. Untuk membangun sepeda minion, kita lebih bebas berkreasi untuk kombinasi dan modif komponen, rangka yang diperbaiki dan dicat ulang juga menjadi kanvas untuk kreativitas pemilihan warna atau pola yang keren.

Karena banyak menggunakan frame dan komponen lama yang kadang masih bisa diperbaiki sendiri, harga sepeda atau membangun sepeda minion jauh lebih murah dari sepeda baru. Berburu frame/komponen bekas di pasar loak, pengepul rongsokan, kemudian memperbaiki dan membangun ulang, adalah keasikan dan kepuasan tersendiri dari sepeda minion ini. Malah kalau membeli baru, atau membeli sepeda minion modif yang sudah jadi, bagi sebagian orang rasanya kurang puas.

Tetapi booming sepeda mini membuat harganya juga naik. Jika dulu sepeda Phoenix jadul bisa dibeli di bawah 100 ribu, sekarang framenya saja sudah 300ribuan. Harga komponen sepeda yang juga semakin mahal, ntah kapan kembali normal lagi. Tetapi kalaupun dibandingkan dengan harga sepeda baru, harga sepeda minion masih lebih murah.

Sejak awal tahun 2020, kepopuleran sepeda mini trek/minion terus meningkat, semakin banyak dicari dan diburu orang. Ntah karena orang mungkin sudah bosan dengan bentuk sepeda yang sekarang, ntah karena musim sepeda, atau karena harga sepeda baru yang melambung tinggi, tetapi antusias terhadap sepeda minion ini sangat positif, menunjukkan masyarakat yang sehat dan cerdas.

Orang-orang yang membangun dan merakit sendiri sepeda minion bukan karena tidak mampu membeli sepeda baru, malah kadang biaya yang dikeluarkan sepeda minion lebih mahal dari sepeda baru. Belum lagi kalau ganti-ganti komponen dan aksesoris tambahan untuk membuat sepeda mini yang lebih keren. Lebih banyak ke arah kepuasan dan penyesuain yang lebih spesifik kepada selera dan seni masing-masing orang. Semua minion yang dibangun sendiri tidak ada duanya, tidak seperti sepeda pabrikan yang seragam semuanya.

Frame/Rangka Sepeda Minion

Hal pertama yang perlu dicari adalah frame/rangka, karena kebanyakan menggunakan frame sepeda lama, jadi sangat penting untuk memeriksa kondisi rangka terlebih dahulu. Sepeda mini jadul terbuat dari besi, jadi sangat rawan karat , karena air atau uap air, atau tersimpan di tempat lembab, yang semakin lama semakin menjalar. Bagian bawah frame, bottom bracket, seat post dan fork harus diperiksa dengan cermat untuk mengetahui kekuatan struktur, apakah masih bisa dipakai atau tidak.

Jika menemukan bagian yang keropos yang tidak terlalu parah, masih bisa diperbaiki/ditambal atau ditambahin las-lasan untuk menambal atau menyambung  frame agar lebih kokoh. Ketok, kupas dan bersihkan frame dari karat dan cat lama untuk melihat kondisi frame lebih pasti, dan sebelum di cat ulang.

Banyak yang lebih memilih melakukan pengecetan ulang di akhir restorasi, setelah semua pengaturan dan pemilihan komponen lebih pasti. Walaupun lebih repot, tapi menghindari cat yang luka pada saat penyetelan dan penyesuaian komponen-komponen lainnya.

Sepeda mini jadul Jepang dan UK biasanya memiliki kualitas frame yang lebih kuat dan struktur yang  kokoh dibandingkan buatan China. Apalagi keluaran terbaru, framenya lebih tipis daripada frame sepeda mini trek jadul.

Sepeda minion ukuran 24

Sepeda mini terbesar adalah ukuran 24”, di bawahnya ada ukuran 22″, dan di atas itu ada sepeda ukuran 26” yang sebenarnya sudah tidak mini lagi. Sepeda minion 24” bukan ukuran yang paling populer, karena bentuknya yang agak besar, dan tidak terlalu imut. Selain itu, komponen roda, wheelset, dan ban untuk ukuran 24” juga lebih jarang beredar, dan pilihannya sedikit pilihan. Tetapi kreativitas minion memang tidak terbatas, ada orang yang memotong rangka 24″ dan mengubahnya menjadi rangka 20″.

Ukuran pelek dan ban sepeda minion 24”: ETRTO 507 atau ETRTO 540.

Opsi lain adalah memakai ban 20” pada frame 24” atau frame 22″. Tetapi untuk hal ini, perlu diperhatikan adalah posisi rem. Jika menggunakan rim brake (U brake atau V brake) maka kemungkinan besar harus menurunkan dudukan rem atau memakai rem dengan lengan yang lebih panjang, agar bisa menjangkau pelek yang lebih rendah.

Sepeda minion ukuran 20

Ukuran sepeda minion 20” adalah ukuran yang paling populer. Selain karena frame 20” juga dulunya banyak dibuat, mungkin juga karena ukurannya lebih enak dipakai sesuai proporsi tubuh, lebih stabil dan mudah dikontrol, dan pilihan roda dan ban yang lebih banyak.

Ukuran frame 20” juga banyak dipakai pada sepeda lipat, sepeda BMX , sepeda anak dan sepeda urban, ukuran yang lebih universal untuk berbagai umur dan tinggi badan. Untuk mencari komponennya juga lebih mudah, dan lebih banyak pilihan, muali dari yang jadul sampai komponen modern.

Ukuran pelek dan ban sepeda minion 20”: ETRTO 406 atau ETRTO 451.

ETRTO 406 atau yang sering disebut ukuran 20″ murni adalah jenis ban yang banyak dipakai pada sepeda BMX, ukurannya lebih lebar dan lebih nyaman untuk jalan yang sedikit bergelombang.

Ban 20″ ETRO 451 adalah jenis ban 20″ yang lebih baru, diameternya sedikit lebih besar, dan kebanyakan ukurannya lebih sempit, lebih cocok untuk yang mencari kecepatan.

Sepeda minion ukuran 16

Ukuran rangka minion 16” adalah yang terpopuler kedua setelah 20”. Minion 16” memiliki bobot yang lebih ringan, sepeda yanglebih gesit, tetapi mungkin banyak yang merasa terlalu kecil, apalagi kalau dipakai yang bertubuh besar, tidak terlalu proporsional. Ukuran 16” juga banyak dipakai oleh jenis sepeda lain, jadi tidak terlau sulit untuk mencari komponen pendukungnya.

Ukuran pelek dan ban sepeda minion 16”: ETRTO 305 atau ETRTO 349.

Ban 16 dengan ETRTO 305 atau ukuran 16 murni adalah ban yang banyak dipakai untuk sepeda BMX dan sepeda anak. Sedangkan ukuran 16″ ETRTO 349 lebarnya lebih kecil dibandingkan 305.

Di bawah ukuran 16″ ada minion ukuran 12″ atau 8″ yang lebih ektrem lagi.

Ukuran ban sepeda mini

Sama seperti ban sepeda lainnya, untuk mendapatkan ukuran ban yang cocok, diameter velg harus sama dengan ukuran ban.

Walaupun sama-sama ukuran ban 20”, tetapi bisa memiliki diameter pelek yang berbeda, perhatikan nilai ETRTO nya atau lebarnya. Ban dengan lebar yang memiliki satuan / (per) seperti 1 3/8 atau 1 ½, biasanya tidak bisa diganti dengan ban yang memiliki satuan , (koma) seperti 1.5mm atau 1.25mm dan lainnya.

Untuk lebar ban, jangan memasang ban yang lebih sempit dari lebar pelek. Untuk pasangan pelek dan ban yang aman, jika tidak ada rekomendasi khusus dari peleknya, pasang ban dengan lebar 1.8x sampai 2.2x dari lebar pelek. Lebih lebar dari itu tidak direkomendasikan dan sudah tidak aman lagi. Untuk informasi lebih lengkap tentang kombinasi, standard ukuran ban dan pelek baca: aplikasi dan arti kode ukuran ban sepeda .

Bottom bracket sepeda minion

Sepeda minion lama masih memakai bottom bracket loose, atau pelor/gotri, yang biasanya kondisinya sudah parah. Hati-hati ketika membukanya, jangan sampai rumah bottom bracket penyok, lebih susah untuk memperbaikinya. Semprotkan degreaser WD-40 atau pelumas lainnya untuk melarutkan kerak dan mempermudah proses pembongkaran bottom bracket. Kalau masih membandel, biasanya harus diketok atau dipanasi.

Kebanyakan sepeda mini trek menggunakan bottom bracket lebar 68mm dengan sistem drat/ulir. Jadi bisa diganti ke BB catridge (hollowtech) ataupun ke BB outer (hollowtech II). Ketika mau mengganti ke BB cartridge HT1 atau HT2, perhatikan bagian dalam rumah BB. Pada sepeda lama dengan BB pelor, ada kemungkinan pada rangka, terdapat bagian yang menonjol dari batang atau lengkungan frame di dalam rumah atau sarang BB, yang perlu dipotong, supaya BB cartridge bisa masuk.

Sesuaikan panjang bottom bracket dengan lebar frame, untuk panjang as (pindle) BB bisa diatur menyesuaikan dengan ukuran chainring, jumlah speed, termasuk bentuk frame. Semakin banyak speed (sprocket/ cassette ) di belakang, maka perlu spindle yang lebih panjang. Agar menghasilkan rantai yang lebih lurus antara posisi chainring dengan berbagai posisi sprocket.

Ukuran chainring yang semakin besar di atas 50T, seringkali perlu as BB atau spidle crank yang lebih panjang, agar chainring tidak mentok di frame.

Bentuk frame yang berbeda-beda juga akan mempengaruhi kebutuhan panjang as yang berbeda-beda. Beberapa bentuk frame membuat pengaturan untuk posisi rantai dan gear yang berbeda untuk mendapatkan ruang dan chainline yang lebih ideal.

Berikut rekomendasi umum yang bisa dijadikan panduan awal untuk menentukan panjang as bottom bracket:

• Single speed/gear chainring <50T : as BB 110-113mm
• Single speed/gear chainring >50T : as BB 118mm ke atas
• Multi speed (6,7,8, dst) : as BB di atas 122mm

Single gear vs multi gear

Kebanyakan sepeda mini jadul dibuat dengan sistem single gear, karena untuk sepeda yang santai, pemakaian dalam kota, dan mungkin harga yang murah. Tetapi sekarang komponen multi gear sudah lebih murah dan mudah untuk didapatkan, jadi pilihan untuk mengubah sepeda minion menjadi multi speed/multi gear tidak terlalu mahal.

Minion Single gear

Pilihan klasik yang tidak mengubah gearing sepeda mini asli. Single gear membuat sepeda terlihat lebih antik, original, tampilan yang lebih bersih dan simpel. Sepeda minion dengan single gear bukan untuk adu kecepatan atau kemudahan menanjak, lebih untuk pemakaian santai saja, karena tidak ada alternative gear ratio .

Jika sepeda minion lama kebanyakan memakai gear ratio 2-2.5 dengan ukuran chainring 30-40anT, yang tidak terlalu ngebut tapi masih enak di tanjakan , dan cukup ringan untuk perempuan/anak remaja. Bisa diganti dengan ukuran chainring yang lebih besar atau atau sprocket yang lebih kecil, kalau mau sedikit lebih cepat. Akan menaikkan nilai gear ratio, cocok untuk bermain di area yang relatif datar, atau yang kakinya kuat, tanpa perlu khawatir sepeda akan berat di tanjakan.

Ciri frame sepeda single gear, seperti sepeda fixie , sepeda BMX, sepeda anak adalah frame dengan dropout (DO) horizontal atau miring. Sedangkan untuk sepeda multi fear, dropoutnya vertikal.

Dropout horizontal atau miring, gunanya adalah agar bisa mengubah posisi as roda atau hub nya, baik ke depan atau ke belakang, untuk menyesuaikan, mengencangkan, dan mendapatkan panjang rantai yang ideal dan kencang (tidak kendor).

Sepeda multi speed memiliki derailleur , yang meiliki per dan mekanisme untuk menggulung rantai, dan mengatur ketegangan rantai untuk setiap posisi gear atau speed yang kita pakai. Makanya posisi dropoutnya vertikal dan fix, alias hub roda tidak bisa maju mundur, karena RD yang akan mengatur tegangan rantai. Kalau posisi hub roda bisa maju mundur, tegangan rantai berubah, maka RD perlu disetel atau diatur lagi agar tegangan per dan posisi RD masih aman dan mulus ketika shifting.

Sepeda minion tidak harus mengganti dropout dari horizontal ke vertikal, selama kita bisa memastikan posisi hub roda tidak bergeser. Bisa dengan ditutup (di las plat tambahan), atau dibaut yang kencang. Tapi setidaknya kita tahu kalau gearing atau shifting menjadi tidak lancar, bisa jadi karena posisi hub roda yang bergeser.

Crank dan rantai sepeda single speed juga lebih besar/lebar, tidak kompatibel dengan rantai dan crank sepeda multi speed yang lebih tipis.

Minion multi gear

Sepeda minion memiliki frame yang tidak dirancang untuk multi speed. Seperti yang kita tahu, sepeda multi speed memiliki lebar dropout untu hub roda belakang yang lebih lebar untuk menampung banyak cassette.

Lebar hub atau frame roda belakang minion biasanya sekitar 110mm atau 120mm yang memang umum dipakai pada sepeda single gear. Frame minion hampir semuanya memakai frame besi, dan salah satu kelebihan rangka besi/steel/hi-ten steel adalah sifatnya yang lebih elastis, sehingga frame besi ini masih bisa kita lebarkan atau yang disebut juga cold setting. Sehingga nantinya frame minion cukup lebar untuk dimasukkan hub multispeed baik yang drat/ulir ataupun hub slop/hub HG.

Untuk melebarkan (membenggang) frame /fork minion harus berhati-hati, sebaiknya serahkan saja ke bangkel sepeda kalau ragu-ragu. Karena frame harus dilebarkan merata ke kiri dan kanan, sehingga tetap menghasilkan bentuk sepeda yang simetris. Tidak bisa asal ditarik atau ditekan, walaupun lebarnya bertambah, tapi bisa saja bentuk frame tidak simetris (melebar ke kiri atau ke kanan).

Ada banyak cara untuk melebarkan, yang paling mudah dan lebih bagus mungkin adalah dengan dongkrak, tetapi bisa juga dengan ganjal kayu, tambahan baut. Teknik lain dengan tambahan panas atau teknik mistis lainnya :).

Sebenarnya tidak hanya untuk multispeed, pemakaian disc brake dimana posisi rotor (pringan) juga membutuhkan space yang cukup lebar.

Pilihan minion 6-7 dengan freewheel (ulir/drat) sudah cukup sekaligus lebih murah untuk sepeda yang tidak terlalu menonjolkan perfroma. Tetapi bisa juga dipasangkan hub roda dengan freehub (slop) yang mendukung 8-10 speed sehingga gear ratio lebih lebar, cocok untuk yang menginginkan kecepatan lebih tinggi atau kemudahan menaklukkan tanjakan.

Sepeda mini trek yang memakai speed yang terlalu banyak (9 speed ke atas) akan membuat posisi RD akan semakin dekat ke tanah, mudah nyangkut dan tergesek ke jalan, apalagi ketika memakai sprocket besar, terutama pada sepeda 16” dan 20”. Double chainring dan triple chainring juga akan mungkin membutuhkan RD cage long yang lebih panjang, apalagi harus ditambah goatlink , dan sepeda yang tidak terlihat simpel lagi.

Untuk sepeda 27.5” (650B) dan 29” (700C) untuk single chainring biasanya memakai ukuran 32-28T, karena roda lebih besar, dan terlalu berat jika memakai chainring besar. Mirip seperti sepeda lipat , karena sepeda menggunakan roda yang lebih kecil dari sepeda gunung /balap, maka chainring yang dipakai juga biasanya lebih besar, umumnya di atas 45T bagi yang menginginkan performa lebih. Tapi untuk sepeda santai-santai ukuran yang lebih kecil juga tidak masalah.

Sepeda minion original tidak memiliki anting atau derailleur hanger untuk tempat memasang RD. Harus dipasangkan adaptor RD hanger yang biasanya dijepit bersama hub roda dengan baut atau QR (Quick Release) .

Rem sepeda mini trek

Jenis rem minion original adalah rim brake, seperti Caliper brake atau bahkan rem tromol (hub brake). Caliper brake, V-brake , U-brake, disc brake tidak saling kompatibel, dan membutuhkan dudukan yang berbeda-beda pada frame sepeda. Jadi ketika kita ingin memasang rem, perhatikan dudukan yang ada, atau lakukan perubahan jika mau memasang rem jenis lain. Baca juga: jenis-jenis rem sepeda .

Rem sepeda kaliper mempunyai satu dudukan di tengah frame belakang. Lengan rem harus pas menjangkau di jalur rem di pelek. Ketinggian dan jangkauan lengan rem bisa diatur dengan memakai rem lengan pendek, rem lengan panjang atau memakai adaptor tambahan. Misalkan di frame 24” memakai ban 20”, lengan rem harus lebih jauh agar bisa menjangkau pelek.

Untuk V-brake dan U brake, harus ada cantolan tambahan di sisi frame, utnuk dudukan lengan rem. Posisi dudukannya juga berbeda, V brake posisinya ada di bawah jalur rem pelek, sedangkan U brake ada di atas jalur rem pelek. Jadi untuk memasang dudukan rem jenis rim brake, sebaiknya tentukan ukuran roda yang mau dipakai, agar bisa mengatur pemasangan dudukan rem.

Salah satu kekurangan rim brake adalah, kadang terbatas pada lebar ban. Karena rim brake lebih banyak dirancang untuk ban seperti sepeda balap yang tipis. Banyak jenis rim brake yang terlalu kecil untuk ban yang lebar.

Untuk disc brake, perlu tambahan dudukan untuk penjepit rotor (caliper) nya. Sebaiknya jangan memakai adaptor dudukan yang dijepit, walaupun harganya murah, tapi kadang kurang begitu kuat, dan tentu saja berbahaya kalau sepeda dalam kecepatan tinggi. Pasang dengan cara dilas agar posisinya permanen, kuat dan tidak mudah goyang. Jika memakai disc brake, pilih juga hub roda yang mempunyai dudukan rotor. Ada banyak adaptor pada jenis rem disc brake agar kompatibel antara yang berbeda jenis dan ukuran, bisa dipakai jika tidak ada pilihan lain. Selengkapnya, lihat panduan memilih disc brake .

Seat post dan Stang

Seat post sepada minion sering kali ditemui dalam kondisi parah. Karena seat post ini merupakan sambungan dua batang yang jarang dibuka, sehingga sangat mudah untuk berkarat dan macet. Pelumas dan cairan anti karat sering kali tidak mamupu untuk membuka rat dan kerak yang sudah menyatu. Tukang las biasanya mamanaskan dan membakar di bagian sambungan, menambahkan batang tambahan agar bisa ditarik dengan lebih mudah.

Mirip seperti sepeda lainnya, diameter seat post sepeda minion biasanya berukuran 25.4 mm atau  28.6mm. Panjang seat post bisa disesuaikan sesuai kebutuhan. Tapi lebih panjang dari seat post MTB atau road bike, karena sepeda kecil yang dipakai orang dewasa perlu dudukan yang lebih tinggi, mirip seperti sepeda lipat.  Untuk posisi duduk yang lebih ideal, dimana kaki tidak terlalu menekuk ketika menggowes, ukuran seat post paling tidak di atas 40cm.

Stang sepeda minion

Seperti sepeda kota dan sepeda urban lainnya, stang sepeda minion bentuknya agak tinggi, untuk posisi duduk yang lebih tegak dan pandangan yang lebih luas. Bisa dipasangkan dengan jenis stang lain untuk tampilan dan karakter sepeda minion yang berbeda, seperti stang sepeda gunung yang datar, atau stang sepeda balap (drop bar) seperti pada sepeda mini Velo.

Harga Sepeda minion

Sepeda minion yang dijual sekarang kebanyakan adalah sepeda bekas . Untuk sepeda baru lebih jarang ditemui, merk sepeda Phoenix masih mengeluarkan sepeda baru baik yang mini dan jengki. Harga sepeda mini Phoenix baru sekitar 2 sampai 2.5 juta, lengkap dengan keranjang, dinamo dan lampu, bel dan boncengan. Untuk sepeda mini Velo lebih mudah ditemui produk barunya, kebanyakan diimpor dari luar dan harganya juga jauh lebih mahal dari sepeda minion/minitrek. Misalkan seperti minivelo: Tern Surge yang harganya sekitar 19 juta.

Merk sepeda lokal seperti Polygon , Wimcycle , Pacific , United , dan lainnya tidak mengeluarkan sepeda dengan frame U seperti pada sepeda mini trek yang banyak dicari. Yang mungkin mirip adalah sepeda mini United 20” dan 24” seri Casella atau Class X lama, tapi palangnya terdiri dari 2 tube di bagian tengahnya.

Kebanyakan orang lebih suka membeli sepeda bekas, bisa dirakit dan dipasang komponen sesuai selera, dan bisa mengemat biaya. Untuk sepeda baru, kalau mau mengganti komponen, perlu mengeluarkan biaya tambahan lagi.

Untuk harga sepeda minion bekas atau rakitan yang siap pakai, harganya sulit ditentukan.  Selain karena komponen yang dipakai bisa berbeda-beda; nilai seni, kebanggan, keunikan, sulit untuk diukur dengan angka. Sebenarnya hak penjual mau dijual berapa yang dia rasa layak.

Untuk rakitan yang simpel dan menggunakan komponen standard, sekarang ini sepeda mini trek rakitan dijual dengan harga sekitar 1.5 juta sampai 2.5 juta. Tapi ya begitu, kalau permintaan terus bertambah, harganya bisa naik lagi, atau sebaliknya.

Komunitas sepeda mini

Sepeda mini tidak pernah ketinggalan zaman, karena kreatifitas pemakai dan komunitas yang terus melahirkan sepeda-sepeda mini baru dan meregenerasi sepeda mini lama.

Ada banyak komunitas sepeda mini di Indonesia, yang biasanya per daerah, bisa bersepeda bersama, berbagi informasi, dan jual-beli. Dulunya jarang yang menjual rangka dan part-part bekas sepeda mini secara online, di komunitas-komunitas ini biasanya lebih banyak info untuk barang yang diperjual belikan langsung, tetapi hati-hati ketika berbelanja online , apalagi untuk barang bekas.

Komunitas sepeda mini ini sudah ada sebelum sepeda mini menjadi trend baru. Mungkin karena isinya orang-orang yang kreatif, nyeni, dan nyentrik, nama-nama komunitas dan chapter sepeda minion juga lucu dan unik, seperti: ROCKMINI (rongsok sepeda mini), SEMPAK (Sepeda Mini Ngapak), KUMIS (Kumpulan mini Santuy), MINTA CERE (Minibike Sekitaran Cinere), MUCIKARI (Minion Urban Cikarang Industri), SEMIBF (Sepeda Mini Bandung Funky), Rompesan (rombongan sepeda pas-pasan), SEMOK (Sepeda Minion Karawang), GERMO (Gresik Minion Owners), KUMIS (Kumpulan mini Santuy), BDSM (Bergoes Dengan Sepeda Mini), dll.

Karena kebanyakan sepeda mini dirakit, di komunitas ini tidak banyak ajang pamer sepeda baru, sepeda mahal atau modern, kebanyakan membagi hasil kreativitasnya yang bisa kita jadikan referensi atau sekedar mencari ide untuk sepeda mini keren.
