The Jais Sky Tour has thrill seekers and adventurers travelling to the top of the Hajar Mountain range in Ras Al Khaimah to experience the thrill of ‘flying’ at an average speed of 60kmph. Jais Sky Tour is the region's longest zipline tour — an adrenaline-pumping experience that provides ample fun for the entire family.

You’ll drive through 30 km of various spectacular chicanes, switch-backs, hairpin bends and steep camber roads to the highest mountain peak in the United Arab Emirates. The Jebel Jais mountain peak soars at an impressive 1,934 metres above the Arabian Gulf.

At just over 1,600 metres above sea level in the craggy mountains, the Jais Sky Tour takes brave-hearted explorers through a complex route of six ziplines that range from just 337 metres to well over 1 km. The ziplines give you an extraordinary bird’s-eye view as you fly 5 km through the towering Hajar Mountain range wearing a specially fitted harness, traveling at an average speed of 60kmph.

The entire experience takes approximately 2 hours as you navigate seven platforms connected by six ziplines. The highest platform, the sky bridge, seemingly floats at 1,250 metres above sea level and 300 metres above the ground. Each flyer is seated and securely fastened onto the zip wire by the trained team.

The Adventure Begins

Your Jebel Jais experience starts with a 30km snaking drive to the top, a scenic experience for all drivers which is easily accessible by cars of all makes and models. Drive to the Toroverde Ras Al Khaimah Parking as indicated on your reservation confirmation. Upon arrival, you will see an Information Center, where a host will confirm the details of your reservation and will then take you to the Jebel Jais Adventure Center via a shuttle service. Please print or download the instructions, map, and directions.

Adventure Center

Once you arrive to our Adventure Center, you will be cordially welcomed by our staff. You will receive a general briefing before finalizing with the registration process and once it is done, you will be kitted up to start the best adventure of your life. At the Adventure Center, you will be able to take a look around, visit our Gift Shop and enjoy a variety of snacks and refreshments.

Launching Platform

Next to the Adventure Center, a rustic path will take you to the starting point. Before starting, our certified professionals will provide a safety briefing.

A total zipline length of 5 km via 7 ziplines connecting 9 platforms across the mountain will take you through and above the magic canyons of the Jebel Jais mountains. You will enjoy the complicity and harmony of nature whilst ziplining and hiking this magical spot.

Revel in the stunning mountain scenery as you take some steps over our hanging bridge anchored to the walls of the mountain located 1,250 mts above the sea level and 300 mts above the ground in a thrilling cliff. This daring feature will give you goosebumps and thrill your senses!

Meeting Point

You must arrive at the Toro Verde Ras Al Khaimah Parking 30 minutes before the time of your experience, as any delays will impact your experience. If you are delayed and miss the shuttle, this will be considered a ‘’No Show’’ and you will forfeit 100% of your payment in line with the Terms and Conditions.

Cancellation Policy

We understand that plans change and where possible a booking amendment/cancellation shall be accommodated without charge or penalty.

• Individual bookings  shall be entitled to cancel or make amendments up to 3 days (72 hours) prior to the activity. You shall be entitled to 90% refund (10% administration fees) in the event of a cancellation under this clause.
• Group bookings of 6 to 15 people  shall be entitled to cancel or make amendments up to 7 days prior to the activity. The Customer will be entitled to a 90% refund (10% administration fees) in the event of a cancellation under this subsection.
• Group bookings of 16 or more  shall be entitled to cancel or make amendments up to 14 days prior to the activity. The Customer will be entitled to a 90% refund (10% administration fees) in the event of a cancellation under this sub-section.
• Following a group price offer, if there is a reduction in group size at any time prior to the activity, the booking will be re-priced accordingly and further charges may apply.

Adrenaline rush experience i would suggest to anyone who's going to spend only few days in Dubai and not sure what to do. Superb staff and very friendly.

Superb drive up to the top. Picturesque mountains. Avoid summers as being a bit dusty the visibility is low. At the top you have a the famous Worlds longest zipline (closed in summers) and Sledge ride (must to for enthusiasts). Multiple small coffee shops

The experience was absolutely incredible. The staff and crew are committed to safety. Will fly on the zip;one again. I would like to have more than one camera on the helmet to have both a forward looking view and a shot of my face while riding.

Booked my ticket on the internet. We came around 1 pm after jeis sledder ride and there weren't any customers. My flight was booked at 3 pm but I started preparing right away. A little bit of instructions, for a video camera you have to pay 135 DH. Then they will drop you to the top by bus .... some more instructions and flight... That's a cool experience. Jais Sky Tour : Zip-lining above the Hajar Mountains

Jais Sky Tour has got to be the highlight of our Jebel Jais Weekend Away. The entire experience, from start to finish was just so much fun. If you are a thrill-seeker, I would definitely recommend you add Jais Sky Tour to your bucket list. What exactly is it? Six ziplines ranging from 300m to over 1km, between seven platforms, over 1600 metres above sea level.

Here’s a little overview of what to expect should you decide to brave it and do Jais Sky Tour.

Where exactly is Jais Sky Tour?

Jais Adventure Centre is located at the top of Jebel Jais , right next to 1484 by Puro – also known as the Highest Restaurant in UAE.

Please note the following :

• You have to have a booking to get through the checkpoint.
• There is free parking on-site , so I recommend you have a nice lunch at 1484 before (or after) the experience (see our review of 1484 by Puro ).
• Make sure you arrive at least half an hour before your booking time as you’ll need to get briefed, kitted up and escorted on a shuttle to the first platform!

Let’s talk about the briefing.

Once you reach the first platform, the team goes into a detailed overview of what to expect.

They explain what is the best position to be in : knees up, legs crossed, leaned back. This is super important, as there is a minute possibility that you do not reach the other end and is left hanging. That was absolutely hilarious and terrifying to know – haha!

Sorry to scare you there. Don’t worry – everyone in our team made it to the other end.

How was the actual zip-lining experience?

I didn’t want to be the first, or the last. So I went third, or maybe fourth, I cannot remember.

Oh, it was such a thrilling experience.

You get butterflies at first (or maybe just me?), but once you get into position and then take off – you actually feel quite…. safe. It’s odd, isn’t it?

And it really is very enjoyable, as you soar through the sky.

I turned my head left, then right, to enjoy the view. You watch the world pass by way beneath you : the Hajar Mountains, the birds soaring pass below.

It’s really quite magical.

And unlike skydiving, which happens so fast, this is comparably slow so you have time to think , to process , to actually take in the views.

And for a split moment, it’s literally just you on a zipline , the mountains and fresh air.

Getting to the other side

As you approach the platform on the other end, do take note that there will be a slight kick-back as the handlebar hits a piece on the zipline to slow you down. It’s a small impact – which you need to anticipate.

There is someone on the other end to pull you back in , so don’t worry if you slow down too much (like me, haha!) Lots of interesting words flying out of my mouth at that time, ha ha!

You do the first two ziplines in one go, and then you wait until everyone arrives. Then another two. And another two.

We had a really nice group with us that day . People of all ages, nationality, backgrounds . It was refreshing, to share the experience together.

How long is Jais Sky Tour?

The entire experience, according to the website is about 2 hours long.

I remember checking in at 2:30pm for our 3:00pm booking and we did the 6th and last zipline by around 4:15pm. By the time it was all done, we got back into their shuttle and they took us back up the mountain to Jais Adventure Park where our cars were park. It was around 5:00pm by then – perfect for sunset views! Don’t forget to go for a quick wander to the top for photo ops.

The shuttle ride back up was such a nice one as well – as we all shared our experiences with each other.

We spoke to the guides, asked them how they got into the business, what they loved about it. I mean, it really is a thrilling job, isn’t it. Guiding people through ziplines every day!

How much is Jais Sky Tour?

According to Visit Jebel Jais’ website, the rates varies across the summer and winter seasons , as well as weekdays and weekends.

As of right now – Winter 2024 , these are the current rates for October to March 2024 :

• Wednesday to Thursday : 280 AED
• Friday to Sunday : 350 AED

Absolutely well priced for such a long and thrilling experience.

Overall Thoughts

You gotta do Jais Sky Tour if you love your thrills. It’s extremely well-priced for what you get, and I reckon you will very likely enjoy the entire experience. I mean c’mon, it’s over 2 hours long, for the same price of a Dubai brunch! I’m sure this will be much more memorable than the latter 😉

Jais Adventure Park announces peak-season timings, new offers

‘Are you ready?’

Well, no, not really – I wanted to say as I hung face down, attached by a jumble of wires to cables that extended beyond distances one could see, ready to take off from a launch pad on the edge of a cliff.

But, I answered with a meek ‘Yes!’ and it turned out to be one of the most thrilling things I have done in my life.

As UAE summer draws to an end, Jais Adventure Park on Jebel Jais is all set to welcome thrill-seekers with new extended hours and special offers. You have three main options: Jais Sky Tour - a 2-hour adventure where you'll conquer six ziplines, Jais Flight - the world's longest zipline and Jais Sledder - UAE’s longest Toboggan ride.

Adventure capital

Ras Al Khaimah is quickly setting itself up as the place to be for adrenaline-pumping activities, and at the very top of the list is the Jais Flight - the world's longest zipline.

The drive up the mountain is familiar to most, with the destination attracting visitors for its cool climes and incredible views. Visitors usually take camping gear to the rest stops as they wait for the sunrise or the sunset – a wondrous sight when surrounded by the impressive Hajar mountains.

While the rest stops dotted along the mountain route are the most frequented haunts, you need to go right to the top for one of the best that Jebel Jais has to offer – right to 1680 feet above sea level to be exact.

But first, plan ahead

Being the world’s longest zip line means your first option of day and time for the ride may not be available. Also, keep in mind that some time slots have an applicable ‘dynamic increase’ on the ticket rate.

Other than that, I would suggest comfortable clothing and your Go Pro if you have one (or you can pay for an action cam before getting on the ride). Wallets, keys, phone and other small items go into a backpack that you can carry with you but bigger items must be left in the car. I had to leave behind my DSLR camera, tripod and bag.

Sign a waiver and get your band

As with all such rides, you are required to sign a waiver that you are taking the ride after having been made aware of the risks involved. When done, you get a wristband and the video camera, once you pay for it. At this point choose which way you want the camera to face, showing your reactions while on the ride or the ride’s views – I chose the latter.

Once you get the band and camera, walk on towards the first checkpoint where you’ll get suited up before heading to 1,680 metres for the ride. You can also go to the restroom at this point – we would recommend you do, as there is no rest area near or around the launch pad.

Set up and ride on

At the checkpoint, you get a helmet with attached goggles and a backpack for your belongings which is securely attached to the suit. You'll not be able to remove the backpack later but it can be closed and opened if needed. I would recommend not putting your phone in the backpack at this point - I did and struggled to get it out later.

If you have a GoPro, this is when you should check with the guides on how best to attach it. They will also set your provided action cam on the helmet. It will be switched on later by the guides at the launch point. I would recommend not putting your phone in the backpack at this point - I did and struggled to get it out later.

After you're done here, you wait in a parked van as the rest of the batch of adrenaline lovers get prepped. Each van takes 10-12 people to the launch pad for each time slot.

The launch pad

A glass-bottomed elevated area with a balcony to enjoy the amazing mountain views, this is where you’ll start the thrilling ride. The view is beautiful and you'll want to get some photos here, which is why you'll be better off having your phone in hand at this point.

Here, the guides will give you the details of the ride and instructions on how to hold yourself during the ride. They will also help attach the camera and get the goggles on.

The staff are not allowed to handle any of your personal devices. Ask someone in your batch for help putting the phone away before the ride – it is difficult to do this on your own. I found this to be a nice icebreaker to chat with the other riders – many from Europe and the United Kingdom.

'Sending one down'

After that, you’re first weighed and then asked to step on to one of two podiums – two people can take the ride simultaneously. Which podium you get on to depends on your weight - the maximum weight allowed for the ride is 120kg.

After attaching some of the suit cables to the zipline, you have to get into a plank position. The guides then support your legs before gettng them into the support suit – at this point you’re fully attached to the zipline with the suit. The only thing left to do is bring up your hands to the small of your back – where you must keep them throughout the ride, they give you something to hold on to make this easier – and cross your feet before hurtling down the ride.

The final step of getting my palms off the podium to lock behind my back was, for me, the hardest part of the setting up process. It is the last commitment to the ride and then you’re truly off solid ground.

‘3 minutes later…’

The ride is nearly 3 minutes long but it feels shorter thanks to the speed of the ride and the amazing views you get to enjoy. Winding roads, cars at the rest stops along the mountain route, the expansive mountain range – it is truly incredible.

For perspective, you're travelling at the around the max speed of a car on Sheikh Zayed Road. The braking system slows you down with a noticeable jerk as you near the landing area.

Another zip line

Suspended 80 metres above the ground, you land on a platform anchored into the mountains with cables. Waiting for you on the 9-tonne platform that looks like its floating midair amid cliffs, guides help pull you in, get you standing and off the zipline cable.

Next, you’ll be asked to hold on and sit as your suit is connected to another zipline – a shorter 1km one. This short relaxed ride takes you to solid ground where your van awaits. Here get your camera and other belongings from the backpack before handing it and the rest of the gear over. You can get a bottle of water and be on your way down to the Welcome Centre.

Once back at the centre, hand the action cam over to get a code and link for your flight video.

End your adrenaline trip with some refreshment at 1484 Puro – UAE’s highest restaurant. Or you could walk over to the lounge area near the restaurant for some great photos for the gram – don’t forget to get one by the huge RAK location pin.

The tour involves an extensive zipline ride over incredibly beautiful cliffs and canyons of Jebel Jais. Cover the distance of 5 km by switching from platform to platform within the chain of 6 ziplines. The ziplines vary by their length from 337 meters to 1 km. The average speed during the ride is 60 kph. The Jebel Jais Sky Tour enables participants to fly and enjoy the unbelievable panoramic views of the Hajar mountains.

• How many? 1 person at any 1 time in each zipline in the classic sitting position.
• How far? 5,000 meters split into 6 ziplines.
• How fast? the average speed of 60kph.
• Duration: 2 hours.

Requirements

• Weight requirements ( kg): people from 40 to 100 kilograms (Please mind that weather conditions might have influence on your flight in the sky experience).
• Height requirements: from 122 cm.
• In order to try a Jebel Jais sky tour, kids younger than 18, meeting height and weight requirements, need to be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian and show a signed waiver. 
• Participants should be healthy and feel good.
• Be advised to put on closed-toe footwear with a good grip ( no sandals, flip flops, high heels or loose shoes).
• People under the influence of narcotics and alcohol are not allowed to Jebel Jais Sky Bridge attraction.

Emirates ID or Passport Validation

Visitors are required to have their Emirates ID or passport with them and show the document at the counter.

COVID-19 Mandatory Ground Rules

Please be informed that for the sake of the overall Jebel Jais area safety, the local authorities set up multiple control checkpoints. So, you need to have a booking confirmation to get to the Adventure Park premises. 

• At the entrance to the park you will be asked to take your body temperature and sanitize your hands.
• According to the Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHaP) and the National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority (NCEMA) recommendations, kids who come with their parents are also required to follow the safety rules. If kids are too young or refuse to put a mask on and follow any of the ground rules, please let them stay at home.
• Have a face mask on when you are inside the Welcome Center.
• We encourage our guests to bring their own sanitizing dispensers and face masks.
• Social Distancing measures should be taken in the Welcome Center and on the Platforms.
• It is mandatory to adhere to Hygiene signs that are available throughout the premises.
• Contactless payments are preferred over cash.
• In case our staff sees some symptoms of COVID-19, management reserves the right to report the case to the Department of Preventive Medicine.

What to wear/bring for maximum comfort?

• put on footwear with a completely closed toe and strong grip;
• wear sports clothing;
• put on clothes that will be able to withstand the rough terrain; 
• take a jacket with you if you visit the attraction in winter months;
