Took the family on a fishing trip with TourH20 and I can't express enough how great Captain Jim and the trip was. My two young boys had a blast with my oldest catching 6 fish, which he made sure to remind me that he caught more every 5 minutes. Captain Jim is awesome, very knowledgeable about the local area and is great with kids. We spent the majority of time fishing which most charters don't do. Every step of the way he explained what he was doing to get the kids involved and even let them drive! His boat is very well maintained and it has plenty of room for you to walk around. Captain Jim even took us out to see some of the old Civil War ship wrecks which I enjoyed. I highly recommend booking one of his tours, you won't be disappointed. Thanks again Captain Jim we'll definitely be back!

Today we took a two hour pontoon boat ride on the Intercoastal Waterway. We booked it by calling because we wanted to make sure it would only be the captain and my wife and I (due to covid). Easy to book on phone, then we had to change day, called back, easy to change day. Our captain Inman was awesome!! On the way back we saw a bunch of dolphins including a baby!! Some of them came close to the boat, including one that came toward the boat face first so we got a good look at the dolphin's face. Awesome service, awesome time, we are going to go again sometime in the near future and we found out they also have a location in OIB at Sharkys. Great time!!

Uber H2O was a great experience. We booked a 2 hour trip for our whole family to see "around the island". We are new to Oak Island and wanted to see around from the water. Captain Jim took us all around the Intracoastal and out to Bald Head Island. It was a great trip and we even got to stop for lunch at Fishy Fishy Cafe! The wife and kids all enjoyed it, which is probably the best endorsement I can give!

Great Guy, great service. Came down for a bachelor weekend, didn't want to drive to the bar, picked us up at the closest dock available, took us straight to the Inlet View. Gave us more than enough time to eat and drink, didn't rush us. On the way back saw tons of dolphins, and gave us a few minutes to stop and "chase" them. I would recommend to do it. He told us "I've seen dolphins on every ride except for one."

I'm sorry that I have not responded to your review before now. YELP has it (along with 131 other reviews) listed in the "Not Recommended" section because they say their algorithm isn't sure it's valid. In fact, the number of reviews that are recommended has changed from 8, to 11, to 7 and now to 4. Which means that they keep changing whether they believe it or not. And it appears to be a result of whether we spend money to advertise with them. Of 135 five star reviews, they only list four as being verifiable. We think it's important that the public is aware of the scam that YELP is running and hopefully it will keep people from using an dishonest program such as theirs for advertising and searching. But I also want to thank you for using our services and for taking the time to write such a great review for us!

SPOTTED: Monster Tour Water Deep Well Water and Sparkling Deep Well Water

Monster Tour Water is now being sold in stores! Well, to be honest, I don’t know why I’m excited. I didn’t know it was a thing at the Vans Warped Tour that folks backstage drank until a few weeks ago. Also, it’s not caffeinated. I’m not even sure it was a thing in 1998 when I went to my only Vans Warped Tour concert to listen to The Mighty Mighty Bosstones, Blink-182, and Reel Big Fish. (Spotted by @ReneBarba89 at Food-4-Less.)

Pardon my naivete…but, just what ARE these? As in, what do they taste like? Well water does NOT sound desirable, to me, in the slightest.

With two decades worth of experience under their belt, Toby Morse and co really know exactly how to conduct their live show so the fans really have the best time imaginable. A H2O show puts them very much at the centre of the operation, the setlist has been designed with them in mind and is meant to be a heady, raucous show that attacks all the senses at once.

Playing a large amount of material from the acclaimed 2008 release 'Nothing to Prove' this is a big pleaser for the crowds and a clear favourite for the band who perform this music with a huge amount of bravado. The flashing lights and crunching guitars may seem abrasive at times however it really does lock you into the moment and you begin to forget everything else outside the gig venue. By the time the band is ready to wrap up with 'What Happened' the opening instrumentals are barely coherent over the crowd's roars and by the finale the cheers are deafening as Toby has launched himself into the front row and is jumping along with the fans.

What to stream: Dive into Guadagnino’s world of international cinematic intrigue

Italian director Luca Guadagnino has become an art house darling over the past 15 years, making films about desire, longing, relationships and identity that have resonated with audiences and catapulted his actors to superstardom. His latest film, “Challengers” is his biggest yet, starring Zendaya, Mike Faist and Josh O’Connor in a steamy tennis love triangle that plays out over the course of 13 years.

If “Challengers” piques your interest for more of Guadagnino’s signature sensual style, there’s more to discover in his oeuvre, so take a spin through his catalog on streaming to dive into his world of international cinematic intrigue.

Guadagnino refers to three of his breakthrough films as his “Desire Trilogy,” which culminates with the 2017 film “Call Me by Your Name,” an adaptation of the Andre Aciman novel, which earned star Timothee Chalamet an Oscar nomination. The queer coming-of-age story was a sensation, debuting at Sundance and sending young audiences into a fervor, but it’s also a compelling family story and dreamy portrait of Italian vacation life. Stream it on Hulu or rent it elsewhere.

The previous installments in the Desire Trilogy were “A Bigger Splash,” Guadagnino’s 2015 riff on the 1969 film “La Piscine,” starring frequent collaborators Tilda Swinton and Dakota Johnson opposite Ralph Fiennes and Matthias Schoenaerts. Swinton stars as an ailing rock star whose Sardinian vacation is crashed by her ex and his daughter, resulting in an escalating tension and chaos. Rent it on all digital platforms.

Swinton also starred in Guadagnino’s 2009 film “I Am Love,” about a woman who marries into a wealthy Milan family and has her senses awakened by a local chef. Stream it on Hulu, Kanopy or rent it elsewhere.

Guadagnino has also dabbled in horror, rendered in his own way, collaborating with screenwriter David Kajganich on the 2018 remake of the 1977 Italian giallo classic “Suspiria.” Starring Swinton and Johnson again, while the general plot points remain the same (a young American woman enrolls at a dance school that turns out to be a secret coven of witches), Guadagnino and Kajganich adapt the setting to Berlin of 1977, the German Autumn, as a way to explore themes of postwar guilt and trauma. It’s a highly stylized and extremely disturbing affair. Stream it on Prime Video, Freevee or rent it elsewhere.

The auteur explored the cannibalism subgenre in his 2022 film “Bones and All,” which was also written by Kajganich and adapted from the novel by Camille DeAngelis. Starring Chalamet and Taylor Russell, “Bones and All” follows a young couple traveling across the heartland of America in the 1980s as they contend with their taboo need to feast on human flesh. Stream it on Prime Video, MGM+ or rent it elsewhere.

Guadagnino also created and directed the 2020 series “We Are Who We Are,” about a group of American teenagers living on an Italian military base. Stream it on Max.

His first films “The Protagonists” (1999) and “Melissa P.” (2005) are not currently on streaming, nor is his documentary “Bertolucci on Bertolucci” (2013), but his 2020 documentary, “Salvatore: Shoemaker of Dreams,” about Salvatore Ferragamo, is available to rent on all digital platforms.

Madonna is wrapping up her current concert tour over the next few days with a trilogy of shows in Mexico City. Prices have been climbing over recent days, so you'll have to be sharp if you want to buy Madonna tickets for these dates while you can for the The Celebration Tour.

Before she takes her final bow of the Celebration Tour concert series in April 2024, Madonna will have performed 52 shows across 27 cities in the US, Canada, and Mexico. While many dates earlier in the tour were available for under $100, these final dates will cost you at least $245 at the time of writing. Last July, Forbes published a shocking headline: “Nearly half of U.S. tap water has PFAs: Here’s Why ‘Forever Chemicals’ Are Dangerous.” Molly Bohannon’s article and others, including mine , were prompted by a study from the U.S. Geological Survey that found “forever chemicals” present in about 45% of U.S. tap water, after taking samples from hundreds of sites from 2016 to 2021. In response to this hazard, the Environmental Protection Agency released new standards this month. What does that mean for the safety of your household?

Existing Risk

Rachel Hodgdon, CEO of the International WELL Building Institute , has been concerned with water quality issues for years before the USGS study was released. The organization’s WELL standards and credentials are highly respected for professionals in the building and design field. “Forever chemicals, like PFAS, are a class of toxins and especially alarming due to their significant effects on human health and their pervasive presence in materials, drinking water and air. Everyone should be concerned about these chemicals because they do not break down in the environment and exposure can result in contamination that accumulates in the human body and potentially cause severe health issues.”

As I shared in my article last summer, just about every human tested has some level of these chemicals in their body. To determine how they could be affecting our health, I reached out to Konstantinos Lazaridis, M.D., the executive director for Mayo Clinic’s Center for Individualized Medicine . “Chemicals can interfere with biological processes, including inflammation, aging, and carcinogenesis,” he commented, while adding that more research is needed to better understand the extent of potential interactions. Noting his strong belief that exposures affect our health, he anticipates that research methods to determine the full range of connections will take about five to 10 years. In the meantime, he assesses the risk to be highest for infants and children.

“For far too long, these harmful PFAS have been allowed to contaminate our drinking water with no federal oversight,” declares Hodgdon. She describes the new rules as a significant step forward and benefiting the health of about 100 million Americans.

Tom Palkon, chief technical services officer with the International Association of Plumbing & Mechanical Officials , explains how the new standard will work and its importance: “On April 10, 2024, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency issued the first national drinking water standards for per-and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), establishing legally enforceable levels of these ‘forever chemicals.’”

These three elements have the greatest impact on our health. This new standard to help improve water quality is very encouraging.” He adds that it’s been nearly 30 years since a drinking water contaminant has been regulated, “so this is a signal of the increased awareness of the importance of indoor environmental factors on health.”

While the more than 60,000 public water systems have their work cut out for them, that doesn’t solve our immediate challenge of ridding our household water supply of these dangerous chemicals. Along with the new standard, the EPA issued a fact sheet, “Reducing PFAS in Your Drinking Water with a Home Filter,” which Palkon suggests readers review. IAPMO recommends the use – and ongoing maintenance – of home water filters as an effective way to reduce PFAS levels in drinking water, he points out. “We recommend consumers select either activated carbon home filters or reverse osmosis systems that are certified to remove PFAS,” and advises consumers to look for third-party certification from organizations like IAPMO that let you know the filter will do what it promises.

Those third party certifications are crucial. Peter Spiegel, CEO at reverse osmosis filtration manufacturer AquaTru , cautions buyers, “Don’t take it for granted that every water filter, regardless of the type of filtration, removes PFAS — it must be certified by NSF, WQA, or IAPMO and the company manufacturing the filter must have a performance data sheet substantiating that claim.” NSF is the National Sanitation Foundation . WQA is the Water Quality Association .

Scialla says he would like to see updates to existing water filter testing standards, as they may not be sufficient to meet the new EPA requirements. “Ultimately, people need to be able to buy trusted, certified water filtration products.” At the same time, he points to the value of the information being offered to the public. “Many people were not aware of the risk from drinking water,” the Delos executive observes. “A new standard, and the increased awareness that comes along with it, helps to educate and inform people that what surrounds us matters. A more near-term result of this standard, while we await the infrastructure changes, is that people will be more informed and able to make immediate changes, such as installing a water filtration solution, that may positively impact their health.”

There have long been individuals and organizations concerned about the health of our water supply, most notably after publication of the ground-breaking 1962 Silent Spring book by Rachel Carson. But the issue has gained much greater resonance in the wake of the Flint, Michigan lead-caused water crisis a decade ago, and more recently, the pandemic’s linkage of our homes and our health.

At the recent Kitchen & Bath Industry Show and a newly released study (to be profiled in an upcoming article), it became clear that the concern has leaped from environmentalism to mainstream wellness, with new built-in water filtration products from major manufacturers like Brizo, Delta Faucet, Kohler and Zip Water. I consider that a win, with potential innovation and cost savings as companies compete for your precious dollars.
