THE JAMESON DISTILLERY ON TOUR BIDS FAREWELL TO MZANSI AFTER THREE SMOOTH YEARS
- September 27, 2023
They say that all good things must come to an end, and this holds true for the Jameson Distillery on Tour , South Africa . After three (3) amazing years of hosting the iconic distillery experience in Mzansi , the world’s most loved Irish Whiskey is taking a final bow as it makes its final SA appearance this month, before making its way to other African countries. After all, it wouldn’t be a tour if it stayed put!
Looking to the immensely successful Winter Edition of the event earlier this year, it’s easy to see that The Jameson Distillery On Tour has become one of the category’s hottest properties. And to mark its official end, Jameson is taking the experience to the country’s capital city, Pretoria , for a Spring Edition rendition to close off the South African leg.
The Jameson Distillery on Tour is made up of various experiences including an immersive distillery journey, live musical acts, cocktail masterclasses, whiskey tastings, a merchandise store, delectable eats, discounted grooming services and more. It aims to educate consumers about the story behind each bottle of triple distilled Jameson Original Irish Whiskey , then immerse them in a range of activities suited to every taste.
Because very few South Africans will ever get to visit the Jameson Bow Street Distillery in Dublin , Jameson is widening the circle by bringing the sought-after experience to its consumer, ensuring that both connoisseurs and new-comers are given an opportunity to learn about the brand and the product itself. This experience is delivered while ensuring consumers are having tons of fun with other kindred spirits in attendance.
Jameson has also made a few changes to how it will execute the events by running the event for one week (as it previously ran for two weeks). This means a four-day series of jampacked sensorial experiences for people to enjoy and create everlasting moments with the world’s most-loved Irish whiskey.
“As saddened as we are to be bidding farewell to this amazing distillery experience, it’s been such an interesting ride seeing the many faces enjoy what Jameson has to offer”. says Marketing Activations Manager on Jameson Irish Whiskey, Sheila Chisina
She adds that throughout the three years of the Jameson Distillery on Tour , they have made sure to continuously Widen The Circle by bringing kindred spirits together to witness a world class distillery in the heart of their city.
“We would like to thank everyone who’s supported us over the years – your unwavering support will not go unnoticed even when the pandemic interrupted our event. It’s time to widen the circle even further in other African markets and allow them to experience the beauty of Jameson Irish Whiskey,”. she adds
The final leg of the Jameson Distillery on Tour will have fire artists including some of Mzansi ’s coolest acts like K.O , Daliwonga , Myztro , Young Stunna , SoulBee and of course, Pitori ’s finest such as Focalistic , Mellow & Sleazy , KMat , and Loatinover Pounds and many more.
The Spring Edition of the Jameson Distillery on Tour kickstarts on the 28th of September to the 1st of October 2023 at Menlyn Maine , Pretoria . Tickets can be purchased on Computicket and every ticket purchase comes with a free R50 Uber voucher.

OUR EXPERIENCE: at the last edition of Jameson Distillery on Tour in Pretoria
As the sun set over Pretoria’s Menlyn Maine Central Square this past weekend, it marked not just the end of another day but also the closing chapter of The Jameson Distillery on Tour in South Africa.
The event brought together a fusion of delightful experiences for those who attended throughout the weekend.
The ambiance was electric, with a fusion of live music performances, DJ sets, engaging cocktail classes, enlightening whiskey tastings, and a number of fun activities that kept spirits high.
The highlight of the evening? Undoubtedly the tantalizing cocktails crafted with Jameson whiskey, accompanied by an immersive tasting experience that guided enthusiasts on how to enjoy this fine Irish spirit.
Adding a vibe to the occasion, artists like Focalistic, Daliwonga, Morda, Young Stunna, K Mat, and K.O took the stage to entertain the crowd.
With South Africa saying goodbye to this remarkable event, all eyes are now on Namibia, the next stop on the Jameson Distillery on Tour journey.
We had the pleasure of speaking with Brenton Forson who is the Head of Portfolio of Whiskey at Jameson to get a deeper insight into this captivating tour:
Tell us more about the Jameson Distillery on Tour? Forson: The Jameson distillery on tour is a multi-sensorial activation or event that we hold for our whiskey lovers as well as people interested in the development or the making of Jameson and whiskey. Basically, the concept you see has been based on the distillery on Bow Street in Dublin Ireland, what we have done is bring the distillery to life but also incorporating into a lot of activities that tie into our brand pillars. Some of these activities include the distillery tour as well as tastings, we have got the masterclass mixology, the grooming stations and games to offer.
Since the tour is concluding in South Africa, where is it headed next? Forson: This is the last distillery on tour in South Africa, we are sad to see it go. We have been doing this for three years now in SA and we have seen our reach grow. The tour is moving to Zambia next, and we cannot wait to see how it will be well received that side.
What are some of the standout moments or highlights from the tour? Forson: The key highlights are exactly what the brand aims to do and that is to bring in our kindred spirit together and as you can see from today, as you have entered, you get your colour wrists bands which are about us interacting with each other and widening the circle. That has been one of the biggest things around us, bringing people across the nation together and then to share what they love about Jameson but on top of that it is about the tasting and breaking down the barrier around whiskey.
The Jameson Distillery on Tour has undoubtedly left an indelible mark on South Africa, and as it continues its journey across borders.
Have a look at some of the moment we captured from this event:

Jameson SA and partner agencies deliver an exceptional integrated Jameson Distillery on Tour
- 19th June 2023
Jameson Irish Whiskey returned to Johannesburg from Cape Town with its famous Jameson Distillery on Tour (JDOT), a concept first launched in 2020 with partner agencies RAPT Creative and Playmakers. While production was managed Playmakers, RAPT Creative ensured that consumers were kept looped in with the latest info, amplifying the campaign’s social, PR and influencer partnerships.
These same agency partners injected JDOT with new energy inviting all Jameson lovers to explore a “portable” version of the Jameson’s iconic Bow Street Distillery, with a South African touch. The two-week event – dubbed the Winter Edition – commenced in May and boasted a host of curated sensorial experiences coupled with Jameson Irish whiskey and a sought-after entertainment line-up never seen before on the tour. It featured coupled-up artists such as DJ Zinhle & Morda and Lamiez Holworthy & Khuli Chana who shared their love with the crowd.
RAPT Creative ensured that the crowd was buzzing with Joburg’s most social butterflies who braved falling temperatures to find warmth around Jameson’s hearth. The team also created considerable buzz on social and in mainstream press, leveraging trusted connections to the country’s key lifestyle journalists and influencers, providing creative support to ensure they embraced the Jameson visual language and tone. The RAPT team further supported the digital campaign, promoting the activation with web design and CRM updates amplified across various influencer channels.
“We were super excited to bring back the Jameson Distillery on Tour to Johannesburg following what was an incredibly successful stint in Cape Town in December last year,” said Marketing Activation Manager for Jameson Irish Whiskey, Sheila Chisina.
“The purpose behind the event has always been to elevate our consumers’ experience of the brand beyond the consumption occasion. We pride ourselves in the rich history of our brand and wanted to share the over 240-year heritage with those who have supported us along the way. This experience in many ways brought together kindred spirits from all walks of life to learn about our whiskey and have fun while doing so,” she added.
Speaking to their experience working on the brand, RAPT’s PR and Influencer Partnerships Division Head, Khangelani Dziba said: “Working with the Jameson team over the years has allowed us to entrench the brand into culture and ensure our client delivers incredible experiences for consumers.”
Dziba added that, as an agency, they have had an incredible opportunity to collaborate with others in a one-of-a-kind brand campaign that delivered exceptionally both for the client and consumer. They said they cannot wait to wrap up the final rendition of JDOT come the last quarter of this year before it sets off to the rest of the African continent.

Following a successful 2022 run in the Fort Strip BGC, the Jameson Distillery on Tour experience is back in town – this time, with a festive Christmas Village built around it!
The award-winning Jameson Distillery on Tour has set up shop at the 9th Avenue Bonifacio High Street Activity Center until December 23 only. The pop-up will be open daily from 4 pm to 10 pm, with live OPM acts performing live on Fridays and Saturdays.
The best part? Admission to the whole tour and Christmas village is free! Just bring your friends, come to the pop-up, and register. Pro tip: Visit early to beat the lines and get your ticket, since slots are limited! Now, here’s everything you can experience at this year’s setup.
The award-winning interactive tour
The main event is the multi-sensory Jameson Distillery tour and whiskey tasting session that has captivated audiences from Dublin to New York to South Africa, and now again, Manila.
You will join groups of 14 in a special room with an audio-visual setup and special sensory tables. While the guides talk about the history of Jameson and the process of making Irish whiskey their way, you can see, hear, feel, and even smell along with the story thanks to the sensory tables.
After the experience, you’ll be led to another room where you can enjoy an informative whiskey-tasting session. Once it’s over, Jameson won’t let you leave empty-handed – you’ll get a Jameson kit, which includes a customizable tote bag. Don’t forget to claim your free serving of a refreshing Jameson Ginger & Lime!
Giant Jameson games and barrels
Once you’ve racked up all your culture points at the tour, you can keep your gang’s fun going with Jameson’s giant game sets. Play giant Jenga and giant Four in a Row, or keep it classic and play some good old Jameson foosball.
Not in a competitive spirit? Jameson barrels are also scattered around the center of the village that you can doodle on with colorful markers.
Bottle, merch promos , and more
Jameson bottles will be sold onsite with special deals and engraving services. You can also shop the exclusive Dickies x Jameson clothing merch, which isn’t available anywhere else in the Philippines but the pop-up. If you’re in a full-on shopping mood, there will also be a vinyl shop in the village.
To close out the list, here’s a couple more experiences you can get! Visitors can get a free serving of Jameson x Kurimu Ice Cream if they post a photo online with #JamesonDistilleryManila and the @jamesonph tag. Then, if you want to enjoy your ice cream and drinks while singing along to OPM bops, mark these dates to watch these live acts:
- December 22 – Young Cocoa and Sky Dominique
- December 23 – Sunkissed Lola and Steph Moreno
With all of these fun (and free!) activities, the Jameson Distillery on Tour experience is a definite must-have in your Christmas itinerary. Visit the pop-up in BGC until December 23 only! – Rappler.com
