The Villain I Never Was (2022)
Kwaku The Traveller Lyrics Meaning
"Kwaku The Traveller" by Black Sherif seems to be a song that reflects on the challenges and mistakes made on a journey toward success, while also expressing determination to continue and eventually return to those who miss him. The song touches on themes of ambition, self-reflection, and resilience in the face of setbacks. Let's break down the meaning of each paragraph.
[Verse 1] In this verse, Black Sherif begins by emphasizing the honesty of his words, suggesting that he doesn't lie about his experiences and actions. He talks about having had access to significant wealth ("big stacks big cash") but admitting that he mishandled it and lost it ("fumbled it"). He expresses surprise at how quickly it all happened and acknowledges that he can't blame anyone but himself for the situation. Black Sherif believes that he and others like him were destined for a challenging life, given their circumstances. Despite his mistakes, he keeps moving forward like a "rolling stone," unstoppable and determined. He asks who has never made mistakes and acknowledges his youth as a factor in his choices.
[Chorus] The chorus of the song reinforces the idea that Black Sherif is a traveler, presumably someone who is constantly on the move and facing challenges. He goes by the name "Kwaku the hustler," indicating his determination to succeed through hard work. He mentions being away in pursuit of "guallala," which may refer to financial success or riches. He assures someone that he will return ("I'll be back again bro") and expresses eagerness to do so. Black Sherif acknowledges that he is missed by someone. ...Read More
[Verse 2] In the second verse, Black Sherif talks about the idea that once something is set in motion, it cannot be stopped until it's completed. He mentions "Sika dam na meebÉ," which translates to "money is what I need," indicating his focus on financial goals. He references smoking a cigarette and how he cannot be deterred from his path by trivial things. The repetition of "Cigarette si mano" may suggest that he is not easily distracted. The verse continues to emphasize his determination to keep going until he achieves his goals.
[Bridge] The bridge appears to emphasize a sense of longing and solitude. Black Sherif talks about being on the roadside, possibly symbolizing a sense of being alone or disconnected from others. He mentions talking to the "most high," which could refer to a spiritual or introspective moment where he seeks guidance or reflects on his journey.
[Chorus] The final chorus reiterates the idea of Black Sherif as a traveler and hustler who has been pursuing wealth and success while assuring that he will return. He acknowledges that people miss him and expresses his anticipation of coming back.
In summary, "Kwaku The Traveler" is a song that reflects on the pursuit of success, the challenges faced along the way, and the determination to keep moving forward despite past mistakes. It portrays a sense of resilience and a commitment to one's goals, even in the face of adversity. ...Read Less

Song Meanings and Facts
Black Sherif
“kwaku the traveller” by black sherif.
by Amanda London · April 7, 2022
âKwaku, the travellerâ is a moniker which Black Sherif is applying to himself. We know this not only because such is inferred in the lyrics. But also, children in certain parts of Ghana are often sub-named after the day of the week on which they were born. And under that system, Black Sherif, who did in fact enter this Earth on a Wednesday (9 January 2002), would be referred to as âKwakuâ in certain circles.
That said, what weâre dealing with here is more or less your standard, self-fulfilling come up song. The reason it can be labeled self-fulfilling is because “Kwaku the Traveller” has indeed proven to be Sherifâs breakthrough hit.Â
Even though the track isnât quintessentially hip-hop in nature, the vocalist does come off a lot like a rapper, i.e. someone who is envisioning rolling in the dough, even though as it currently stands heâs still caught up in the hustle.
So when the vocalist refers to himself as âa travelerâ, thatâs basically a poetic way of saying that he has yet to find his footing in life, so to speak. Or put more into street terms, heâs on the paper chase, with music apparently being his hustle. And until he achieves that goal of making it big, âKwaku the travellerâ will remain on the prowl.
Black Sherif is a vocalist from Ghanaâs Ashanti Region. One of the earliest songs in his discography is a 2019 track entitled “Anadwo” by Kwame Yesu in which he appears as a feature. Later that same year, Sherif apparently dropped his first track as a headliner, a joint entitled “Mariana”.
“Kwaku the Traveller”
“Kwaku the Traveller”, which the vocalist officially authored under his legal name Mohammed Ismail Sherif, has proven to be Black Sherifâs breakthrough hit. Upon release on 31 March 2022, the tune swiftly proceeded to blow up. In less than a week, it reached number one on Nigeria Apple Music Top Songs. And even though the music industries of Ghana and Nigeria are closely related, this marked the first time  a Ghanaian soloist had achieved that feat.
The day after, the track made its debut on the Apple Music Top 100 Global itself. Perhaps even more importantly in the grand scheme of things, the song also went viral on TikTok.
The lyrics are bilingual, being rendered primarily in English but also a Ghanaian language known as Twi.
The producer of this track is one Joker Nharnah.

Kwaku the Traveller lyrics meaning
Here is the meaning of the lyrics in Kwaku the Traveller
The lyrics of Kwaku the traveller means that we all mess things up once in a while. But what matters is that as we go through the journey that is life, we should not let our mistakes judge or haunt us but rise stronger and redefine ourselves.
Kwaku The Traveller lyrics further explainedÂ
âHayya hayyaâ Lyrics {Better Together} Davido, Aisha, Trinidad Cardona
1) RelatabilityÂ
Kwaku the Traveller is extremely relatable, especially with its lyrics. When we highlight the part of Kwaku the traveller that says.
Of course I fuc**ed up Who never fuc**ed up Hands in the air No hands?
It speaks to us and makes us examine ourselves.
So yes, Kwaku the traveller is very relatable and we are drawn into our past.
But that is not the only thing that matters.
Apparently, he even names himself âKwaku the hustler Kwaku the hustler â and this may encourage us to co,e back strong with a hustling spirit no matter the challenge we have been through.
There is something to take from Kwaku the traveller, and it is deep.
Kwaku the traveller, apparently, goes on like a rolling stone. And this is exactly what we should do too.
We should move on even stronger.
2) Delivery
If there is something about Kwaku the traveller, itâs about Black Sherifâs delivery on the song.
It is so powerful, so passionate.
It sounds like Black sheriff is discussing a personal thing- something that happened to him or something that he did.
This may have influenced his delivery on Kwaku the traveller.
He delivers Kwaku the traveller with a kind of energy that transfers to us and makes Kwaku the traveller achieves its purpose.
We are drawn into the world of Black Sherif and this makes the song very believable.
We admire Black Sherifâs delivery on Kwaku the traveller, it is indeed powerful.
3) LyricismÂ
The lyrics of kwaku the traveller suit the theme of the song.

But i canât blame myself for this shit
I knew mandem was born for this shit,Â

Who never f*ck up hands in the air, no hands?
Still i canât believe, you know what i mean
I was young what you expect from me?
It is what it is, but i keep going o
More like a rolling stone
Cause i have no stopping time
Canât nobody stop a man
Oh i keep going on
Canât nobody stop a man (youhh)
I go dey run my race
Iâm gonna keep my pace
Cause? i really have no one to blam?Â
when i fall again
I canât stand this pain
I canât watch me fail
So anytime you pray
Remember my name
Remember you know a travellerÂ
The name is Kwaku the hustler
Heâs been far away chasing guallala
Iâll be back again bro, meka menan
I swear on my life
I canât wait to be back

They say, when itâs on then itâs on
You canât stop till itâs done (then itâs ooooooon)
Sika dam na meebor
Abrantie aa masi so, cigarette si mano
Ntampe nkoa na meetwe
Cigarette si mano
Cigarette si mano, when itâs on then itâs on
I canât stop till itâs done (then itâs ooooooon)
Abrantie aa masi so
Youâll see me on the roadside
Talking to the most high⊠high, high, high
