The Smashing Pumpkins today announced their North American arena tour with special guests Jane’s Addiction. Produced by Live Nation , the 32-date SPIRITS ON FIRE TOUR will commence on October 2 in Dallas, TX, featuring a stop at the award-winning State Farm Arena in Atlanta on October 11 , and will conclude on November 19 in Los Angeles, CA at the Hollywood Bowl . Both bands revealed the exciting news live this morning exclusively on SiriusXM ’s The Howard Stern Show . Pre-sales begin on Thursday, May 12 from 10am local . Tomorrow night, in support of The Smashing Pumpkins tour announcement, the GRAMMY® Award-winning, critically acclaimed band will be performing and talking on CBS’ The Late Late Show with James Corden .

Later today, The Smashing Pumpkins will appear at the TCL Chinese Theater in Hollywood for a commemorative ceremony in celebration of their tour announcement. Each band-member will add their handprints in cement, joining a long list of global treasures before them.

When The Smashing Pumpkins first emerged out of Chicago in 1988, the world had never heard a band quite like them. They spun together rock, pop, shoe-gaze, metal, goth, psychedelia, and electronic into a kaleidoscope of saccharine melodies, fuzzy distortion, bombastic orchestration, incendiary fretwork, eloquent songcraft, and unshakable hooks. Upon their formation, their sound was different, iconoclastic, and wholly new—and it still is today. As a result, they’ve sold over 30 million albums worldwide and collected two GRAMMY ® Awards, two MTV VMAs, and an American Music Award. Their catalog is highlighted by the platinum Gish [1991], the quadruple-platinum Siamese Dream [1993], diamond-certified Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness [1995], platinum Adore [1998], and gold Machina/The Machines of God [2000]. In 2018, they embarked on one of their most successful tours ever, the Shiny and Oh So Bright Tour , followed by SHINY AND OH SO BRIGHT, VOL. 1 / LP: NO PAST. NO FUTURE. NO SUN. Meanwhile, 2020 saw the release of the band’s eleventh full-length and latest double album, CYR . Smashing Pumpkins, Jane’s Addiction to Embark on ‘Spirits on Fire’ Tour

The Smashing Pumpkins have announced a North American arena tour where the semi-reunited band will be joined by special guests and fellow alt-rock gods Jane’s Addiction.

Frontmen Billy Corgan and Perry Farrell announced the Spirits on Fire Tour Wednesday morning during a visit to the Howard Stern Show , with the Smashing Pumpkins also scheduled to perform Thursday on The Late Late Show .

The trek — the Pumpkins’ first since their semi-reunion tour in 2019, and Jane’s first full-scale jaunt since 2016 — kicks off Oct. 2 at Dallas, Texas’ American Airlines Center and keeps both bands on the road for nearly two months, hitting basketball and hockey arenas in most major markets before concluding Nov. 19 at Los Angeles’ Hollywood Bowl. To celebrate the Spirits on Fire Tour and their career in general, the Smashing Pumpkins will dip their hands in wet cement Wednesday afternoon as the latest artists enshrined outside Hollywood’s TCL Chinese Theater.

In addition to the tour, the Smashing Pumpkins have promised new music in 2022 as the prolific Corgan follows up the band’s 2020 double-LP Cyr .

Two of alt rock ‘s biggest bands, Smashing Pumpkins and Jane’s Addiction , are teaming up for a North American headlining arena tour dubbed “Spirits on Fire.” The 32-date outing featuring the Pumpkins headlining with support from Jane’s is slated to kick off on Oct. 2 at American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas and hit Houston, Austin, Tampa, Nashville, Atlanta, Boston, New York, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Toronto, St. Louis, Detroit, Chicago, Denver and Vancouver before winding down with a show at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles on Nov. 19.

Pumpkins leader Billy Corgan and Jane’s vocalist Perry Farrell announced the Live Nation-promoted tour on Howard Stern’s SiriusXM show on Wednesday morning (May 11) and the Pumpkins will promote the outing on The Late Late Show on Thursday night (May 12). On Wednesday afternoon, the Pumpkins will also appear at the TCL Chinese Theater in Hollywood for a commemorative ceremony celebrating the tour, with the band members slated to put their handprints in cement.

Poppy and Meg Myers will join the bill on select dates. Pre-sales for the tour begin on Thursday (May 12) beginning at 10 a.m. local time with general on-sale kicking off on Friday (May 13) at 10 a.m. local time; click here for more details.

The 32-date Spirits On Fire tour will launch in Dallas, Texas on October 2, and run through to November 19, with Billy Corgan 's band headlining the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles, California.

The Pumpkins will be joined on the trek by Jane's Addiction , with Poppy and Meg Myers opening on selected dates.

The Pumpkins will appear on The Late Late Show with James Corden tomorrow night (May 12) to launch the tour.

Last March, the band officially began work on a 33-song follow-up to 1995 double album Mellon Collie And The Infinite Sadness and its equally weighty 2000 follow-up Machina/Machines Of God.

The Smashing Pumpkins  today announced their North American arena tour with special guests  Jane’s Addiction.  Produced by  Live Nation , the 32-date  SPIRITS ON FIRE TOUR  will commence on  October 2 in Dallas, TX  and will conclude on  November 19  in  Los Angeles, CA  at the  Hollywood Bowl . Both bands revealed the exciting news live this morning exclusively on  SiriusXM ’s  The Howard Stern Show . Pre-sales begin on  Thursday, May 12 from 10am local . Tomorrow night, in support of  The Smashing Pumpkins  tour announcement, the GRAMMY® Award-winning, critically acclaimed band will be performing and talking on  CBS’ The Late Late Show with James Corden . 

Later today,  The Smashing Pumpkins  will appear at the  TCL Chinese Theater  in Hollywood for a commemorative ceremony in celebration of their tour announcement. Each band-member will add their handprints in cement, joining a long list of global treasures before them. 

When  The Smashing Pumpkins  first emerged out of Chicago in 1988, the world had never heard a band quite like them. They spun together rock, pop, shoe-gaze, metal, goth, psychedelia, and electronic into a kaleidoscope of saccharine melodies, fuzzy distortion, bombastic orchestration, incendiary fretwork, eloquent songcraft, and unshakable hooks. Upon their formation, their sound was different, iconoclastic, and wholly new—and it still is today. As a result, they’ve sold over 30 million albums worldwide and collected two GRAMMY® Awards, two MTV VMAs, and an American Music Award. The Smashing Pumpkins Announce Fall 2022 North American Tour

The Smashing Pumpkins have announced a fall North American tour. The Spirit on Fire Tour features a run of arena dates in October and November with Jane’s Addiction and Poppy. Meg Myers will open in Pittsburgh and Cleveland. In a statement announcing the tour, the Smashing Pumpkins also confirmed they will be releasing new music in 2022. The band shared its last album, Cyr , in 2020. Check out the full list of dates, including a handful of preceding May concerts, below.

The Smashing Pumpkins announce North American arena tour with Jane’s Addiction

The trek will take the alt-rock giants across the continent from early October through mid-November

The Smashing Pumpkins have announced an extensive arena tour of North America.

During the trek – which will criss-cross the continent from early October through mid-November – the band will be joined by another titan of '90s alt-rock, Jane's Addiction.

You can see the full itinerary for the Spirits on Fire tour – which will also feature Poppy and, on select dates, Meg Myers – below.

The Pumpkins will be promoting their most recent studio album, 2020's double-length, synth-pop-influenced Cyr .

The band are also reportedly hard at work on another project, though, a 33-song “rock opera” sequel to Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness and Machina/The Machines Of God .

“It’s kind of a rock opera," Billy Corgan said of the in-the-works album in a YouTube video in October 2020. "We feel like in many ways this completes the circle on everything we started and weren’t able to finish at that time, so we’re very excited.”

Jane's Addiction, meanwhile, last embarked on a full-scale tour in 2016, and have performed live only sporadically since. Their last studio album was 2011's The Great Escape Artist .

Jane’s Addiction is an American alternative rock band formed in 1985. Formed in Los Angeles, California, Jane’s Addiction was one of the first alternative rock bands to garner mainstream attention.

Formed amidst the rock and roll glamour of the 1980s, Jane’s addiction has released four studio albums since 1988, with the band’s first two albums being certified platinum, and being hailed with extensive positive reviews from critics and fans alike. Before releasing any of their albums, though, Jane’s Addiction built their fan base in bars and clubs around Los Angeles, impressing patrons with their fresh rock sound wherever they went.

Jane’s Addiction has cultivated an extensive cult following, which has continued to grow since the late 80s. This following has ensured that the band’s first and second albums, “Nothing’s Shocking” and “Ritual de lo Habitual”, have both been certified platinum. The band’s most successful album, though, was 2003’s “Strays” which reached the number 4 spot on the US Billboard chart and was a top 30 album in almost every other chart worldwide. The album’s biggest hit single was “Just Because” which went to the number one spot on the US Alternative chart.

Jane’s Addiction has toured extensively across the US and beyond since the close of the 1980s. They are famous for being the first band to headline at Lollapalooza in 1991 with their first farewell tour. Thankfully the band regrouped in 1997 and along with their new material came new tours. Jane’s Addiction is considered to be one of the most influential acts of the alternative rock scene and the band has been named as an influence for Korn, The Smashing Pumpkins, System of a Down and Limp Bizkit, amongst others.

With their own star on the Hollywood walk of fame, there is no way that Jane’s Addiction could now be erased from music history. Nonetheless, even without the physical reminder of their importance, the band’s legacy will live on forever in the music they have inspired.

Live reviews

Jane's Addiction has got to be one of the most iconic alternative bands ever. I would rank them somewhere in the same standing as Blink 182 and Green Day, who probably wouldn't have existed if it weren't for Jane's Addiction.

They have been cranking out solid punk music since the late 80s and haven't stopped yet. Their whiny vocals in the early part of their career made you listen to what they were saying, and most of their lyrics shaped the listener and their mood. I had the opportunity to see them in a recent concert up in New York, and it exceeded any expectations I had. Even though I grew up listening to them, and remember seeing their video for "Been Caught Stealing" over and over again, nothing could compare to the mature version of them rocking it out at Station 5. The audience was jumping, singing, dancing, clapping, even slam dancing to the tunes that were anthems to my youth. The dress code for the concert was non-existent, as was the age requirement.

People from everywhere and every age jammed to the tunes of Jane's Addiction without being self-conscious. I was (and am) proud to have been loyal to the band for nearly 30 years.

Californian rock outfit Jane's Addiction are well known globally and despite having taken numerous breaks during their career, since 2008 they have been noted to be performing stronger and more consistent than ever. It is perhaps due to the confidence they have within their material and the adoration that the fans show for almost every track chosen for the setlist tonight.

The whole show is about those gigantic instrumentals that the group is known for and many of the punchier songs have been adapted to feature more opportunity to show off their musical capabilities. Lead singer Perry Farrell taunts the crowd to give more energy and to be far louder before they begin the hits including 'Three Days' and 'Jane Says'. The audience does not need any encouragement for 'Chip Away' as they raise their hands high in the air and mosh along whilst the band dissect this modern day rock anthem and once again amaze with these impossible guitar riffs and huge bridges whilst the fans take over vocal duties during the chorus. The fans are well and truly addicted to Jane's Addiction.

I have been looking forward to this show for some time. Jane's Addiction live has been a fantasy of mine. Walked into Warfield, one of the best venues ever, with people from all over. The energy from the fans was electric, until Perry Farrell started performing. He seemed oblivious that we, the audience, were present. He seemed perfectly content with himself and his monitor with the lyrics to his songs. Dave Navarro, who is a guilty pleasure of mine, was amazing to listen to, but also seemed to be quite disconnected. Who could blame him, his front man was forgetting lyrics left and right. The dancers looked as though they had just seen the routine 10 minutes before curtain, and many awkward moments followed. I will say the musicians were fantastic. Navarro and Perkins are stellar musicians, and Farrell has such an intoxicating voice, I wish I'd seen them years ago and wish I hadn't attended this concert, so my fantasy could still live in my head of what it would feel like to watch these gods live. Now I know....

The show was amazing. All members were on point. They preformed "Nothing Shocking" in its entirety and did it WELL! I felt like I was fourteen again. They also did live suspensions on stage. Two gorgeous women hanging two stories above the stage only by the hooks imbedded in their flrsh. AWESOME! Not shocking, just perfect. Thank you, Jane's Addiction.

This was a good show and a great place to see a show. I haven't been to this venue before, but I really liked how there was a good line of sight wherever you stood and that getting a drink was easy with all the bars.

Perry, Dave and the rest of the crew always put on one hell of a show.

Both of those bands I would go see anywhere anytime.

Jane’s Addiction have mapped out a brief west coast tour for March, in advance of their performances at three Lollapalooza festivals in South America.

The alt-rock legends will hit the road beginning March 4th in Bakersfield, California, and wrap up the five-show stint with a March 12th gig in Reno, Nevada. Afterward, they’ll play Lollapalooza Argentina (March 18th), Lollapalooza Chile (March 19th), and Lollapalooza Brazil (March 25th).

Tickets for the US shows go on sale to the general public beginning Friday (January 20th) via Ticketmaster, with a presale beginning Thursday (January 19th) at 10 a.m. local time using the code SOUND . Fans can also pick up tickets via StubHub .

Last year, Jane’s Addiction welcomed back original bassist Eric Avery for their tour with the Smashing Pumpkins. However, guitarist Dave Navarro ’s ongoing battle with long COVID kept him off the road, thus preventing a reunion of the band’s classic lineup. Queens of the Stone Age’s Troy Van Leeuwen filled in on guitar for that tour, and as of now, it is unclear whether Navarro will be back for the March shows.

Jane’s Addiction Announce 2023 US Tour Dates

The legendary alt-rock band will embark on a brief west coast tour in March

Jane’s Addiction have mapped out a brief west coast tour for March, in advance of their performances at three Lollapalooza festivals in South America.

The alt-rock legends will hit the road beginning March 4th in Bakersfield, California, and wrap up the five-show stint with a March 12th gig in Reno, Nevada. Afterward, they’ll play Lollapalooza Argentina (March 18th), Lollapalooza Chile (March 19th), and Lollapalooza Brazil (March 25th).

Tickets for the US shows go on sale to the general public beginning Friday (January 20th) via Ticketmaster, with a presale beginning Thursday (January 19th) at 10 a.m. local time using the code SOUND . Fans can also pick up tickets via StubHub .

Last year, Jane’s Addiction welcomed back original bassist Eric Avery for their tour with the Smashing Pumpkins. However, guitarist Dave Navarro’s ongoing battle with long COVID kept him off the road, thus preventing a reunion of the band’s classic lineup. Queens of the Stone Age’s Troy Van Leeuwen filled in on guitar for that tour, and as of now, it is unclear whether Navarro will be back for the March shows.

Jane’s Addiction Announces 2023 U.S. Tour

Legendary rock band Jane’s Addiction announced a string of 2023 U.S. tour dates.

The slated gigs will take place on the west coast in March ahead of the band’s shows at three Lollapalooza festivals in South America.

The band will commence their shows on March 4 in Bakersfield, California. There are also shows slated for Tuscan, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, and Reno, Nevada on March 12. Then the three Lollapalooza performances.

Tickets for the U.S. shows will go on sale Friday (January 20) via  Ticketmaster . Presale begins today at 10 a.m. using the code SOUND. Those interested can also pick up tickets via  StubHub .

In 2022, the band brought back original bassist Eric Avery for their tour with another legendary band, Smashing Pumpkins. Guitarist Dave Navarro wasn’t along for the ride after a battle with long COVID. Queens of the Stone Age’s Troy Van Leeuwen filled in on the six-string for that tour. As of now, it’s unclear who will play guitar for the group.

Perry Farrell, the lead singer for the band, has talked about the band recording new music recently.

Smashing Pumpkins Announce Arena Tour With Jane's Addiction

Today (March 11th), the Smashing Pumpkins announced a massive North American arena run with special guests Jane's Addiction. The 32-date Spirits of the Fire Tour is scheduled to kick off October 2nd in Dallas, Texas, and wrap November 19th in L.A. at the Hollywood Bowl, with Poppy opening on select dates (see the full itinerary below). Both Pumpkins and Jane's broke the news live this morning exclusively on SiriusXM's The Howard Stern Show . Tomorrow (May 12th), Billy Corgan's band will continue to build the hype with an appearance as the musical guests on The Late Late Show With James Corden .

The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame has announced the names of 16 artists who will be inducted in 2024.

The 2024 class includes A Tribe Called Quest , Mary J. Blige , Cher, Ozzy Osbourne, Jimmy Buffett, Foreigner, Dave Matthews Band, Peter Frampton, Kool & The Gang, Dionne Warwick, MC5, Big Mama Thornton, Norman Whitfield, Alexis Korner, John Mayall, and Suzanne de Passe.

“Rock & Roll is an ever-evolving amalgam of sounds that impacts culture and moves generations,” said John Sykes, Chairman of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Foundation. “This diverse group of inductees each broke down musical barriers and influenced countless artists that followed in their footsteps.”

To be eligible for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, an individual artist or group must have released its first commercial recording at least 25 years prior to the year of nomination. Four out of the eight inductees in the Performer category (Cher, Foreigner, Kool & the Gang, and Frampton) were on the ballot for the first time.

Others who were nominated this year but not selected for the 2024 class include Mariah Carey, Eric B. & Rakim, Jane’s Addiction, Lenny Kravitz, Oasis, Sinéad O’Connor, and Sade.

The 2024 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction will stream live on Disney+ on October 19, with the ceremony airing on ABC at a later date.

South Star lineup: New Alabama music festival headliners Gwen Stefani, blink-182

The lineup for Huntsville’s first multi-day, large-scale, real-deal, music festival in 13 years is here.

Headliners for South Star Music Festival , set for September 28 and 29 at John Hunt Park, are Gwen Stefani on Saturday and blink-182 on Sunday.

Other artists on the lineup for Saturday: Shinedown, Jane’s Addiction, Jimmy Eat World, TLC, Juvenile, Gin Blossoms, Candlebox, Dexter and the Moonrocks, and Winona Fighter.

Sunday’s lineup also boasts: Beck, Sublime, Goo Goo Dolls , Ludacris, Big Boi, Pete Yorn, Vanessa Carlton, Bully, and Billy Allen + The Pollies .

That’s 10 acts each day for a total of 20 performing artists over the weekend across South Star’s two main stages.

People who graduated from high school in the late ‘90s are now in their mid-40s. As South Star Music Festival debut lineup attests, ‘90s and 2000s nostalgia is in full bloom.

Pop-punkers Blink-182′s breakthrough album, 1999′s “Enema of the State,” was released 25 years ago. For context, albums that turned 25 in 1999 included self-titled debuts from Kiss and Bad Company and sophomore LPs by Aerosmith and Lynyrd Skynyrd. By that math, blink-182 hits “What’s My Age Again?” and “All The Small Things” are the new “Strutter” and “Sweet Home Alabama.”

In the ’90s, Gwen Stefani rose to fame fronting ska-rockers No Doubt on hits like “Don’t Speak” before going on to solo stardom with smashes like 2004′s “Hollaback Girl.”

Jane’s Addiction was the tip of the spear of the alternative rock movement, with albums like 1990′s “Ritual de lo Habitual.”

Beck’s arthouse mix of rock and rap produced iconic mid ’90s tracks like “Loser” and “Where It’s At.”

Sublime -- reinvigorated recently with late singer Bradley Nowell’s now-28-year-old son Jakob on the mic -- soundtracked 1996 with reggae-flecked jams like “What I Got” and “Santeria.”

The acclaimed Nashville alt-rock band Bully gives South Star’s lineup a compelling, present-tense component. Soul-rock talents Billy Allen + The Pollies, based in Muscle Shoals, add a splash of current local color.

Tickets go on sale 10:40 a.m. central Thursday. There’s a presale that same day beginning at 10 a.m. Prices increase once the public on-sale begins, according to South Star’s website and social media .

Prices start at $224 for a two-day general admission ticket and $139 for one-day general admission. They go up to $925 for one-day and $1,395 for two-day “platinum” tickets.

Those platinum tix include exclusive front-of-stage viewing at the fest’s two main stages, complimentary full-service bar and all-day dining, a dedicated entrance lane into the festival and other extras.

There are also general admission plus (two-day $339, one-day $259) and VIP ($649, $459) tiers for tickets.

According to the festival’s website, there are “no hidden fees” in the ticket pricing.

South Star is being produced by C3 Presents of Austin, Texas. C3′s many other festival productions have included Bonnaroo, Lollapalooza, Austin City Limits, Atlanta’s Shaky Knees and New Orleans’ Voodoo Music + Arts Experience.

Huntsville has been without a large-scale music festival since the final Big Spring Jam in 2011. The engineering-centric city’s music profile has risen steadily since the opening of Orion Amphitheater in spring 2022.

Ozzy Osbourne, Cher, Kool & the Gang headline Rock and Roll Hall of Fame’s class of 2024

Metal rocker Ozzy Osbourne is boarding the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame train for the second time, as the Class of 2024 was announced Sunday night. He will be joined by Cher, Kool & the Gang, Mary J. Blige, Foreigner, Peter Frampton, the Dave Matthews Band and A Tribe Called Quest in the performer category, Rolling Stone reported.

They will be enshrined into the Rock and Hall of Fame at Cleveland’s Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse on Oct. 19 during the 39th annual ceremony, according to The Hollywood Reporter .

Their inductions were announced by fellow Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Lionel Richie and Ryan Seacrest during Sunday’s “Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Night” episode of “American Idol,” the entertainment news website reported.

Jimmy Buffett, MC5, Dionne Warwick, and Norman Whitfield will receive the Musical Excellence Award, according to Rolling Stone . Alexis Korner, John Mayall, and Big Mama Thornton will receive the Musical Influence Award, while Suzanne de Passe will be presented with the Ahmet Ertegun Award.

It is the second time Osbourne is being inducted into the Hall; he was enshrined as a member of Black Sabbath. The “Prince of Darkness” performer, along with Cher, Foreigner, Frampton and Kool & the Gang were elected in their first year on the ballot, according to The Hollywood Reporter .

Fifteen acts were nominated for the Class of 2024. Those who missed the cut this year include Mariah Carey, Eric B. & Rakim, Sade, Jane’s Addiction, Lenny Kravitz, Oasis and the late Sinéad O’Connor, according to The Hollywood Reporter .
