Natalie Gulbis

Team USA Solheim Cup assistant captain Natalie Gulbis says her pure love for playing professional golf is the reason behind her return to LPGA action this week at the inaugural JM Eagle LA Championship presented by Plastpro.

A resident of nearby Newport Beach in California, Gulbis tees it up at Wilshire Country Club for her first LPGA event in nine months.

Gulbis retired from playing on the LPGA tour full-time back in 2020 after 19 years on the circuit.

One of the more recognisable women’s players on tour, Gulbis played in three Solheim Cups and won the 2007 Evian Masters during her long stretch on the LPGA circuit.

The 40-year-old has also had success away from the course, but is now returning to competitive action in the new JM Eagle Championship – which has a boosted prize pot of $3 million.

“Playing near my home in Newport Beach, I am beyond excited to have the opportunity to play  in the inaugural JM Eagle LA Championship presented by Plastpro at Wilshire Country Club,” said Gulbis.

“It’s extraordinary what JM Eagle and Plastpro are doing with this inaugural championship in elevating the tournament purse to $3 million and channeling a passion for  empowering women athletes – that’s everything that I want for women’s golf.

“I’m honored to have the opportunity to tee-it-up against the best athletes in the world.”

And Gulbis says the reason for returning to the heat of battle with her fellow pros is her sheer love for the LPGA – with competitive golf producing emotions that are hard to replicate.

“I love golf, I love the LPGA,” said Gulbis. “It’s not secret that when I joined the tour in 2001 that I wouldn’t continue to play or request an invite if I didn’t absolutely love the game and love the tour.

“It’s one of those things that there’s just nothing I can compare to it in my life - and I’ve had a lot of incredible things that I’ve gotten to do away from the golf course and opportunities, but nothing gets me that anxious, excitement, frustration the way that playing professional golf does.”

15 female golfers breaking all the lpga dress code rules.

With the LPGA's strict dress code, these golfers may not be able to dress like they do in these photos when they compete

The LPGA set some strict dress code rules last year, as an email was sent out by LPGA Player President Vicki Goetze-Ackerman with some harsh words to detail the new regulations that, if broken, would cost players $1,000 for each violation. Some of those rules include no plunging necklines, no leggings, no Razorback shirts without a collar, and the ladies should be dressing in a professional way at all pro-am parties.

For a tour that has constantly tried to be exciting for fans, it seems like they are trying very hard to take a lot of personal choices away from golfers, especially women who are incredibly attractive and use their good looks to not only get themselves media attention, but also to gain sponsorships and modelling contracts. In these 15 photos, however, you’ll see the ladies of the LPGA breaking the rules easily, and we think Vicki Goetze-Ackerman wouldn’t be too happy to see the players dressed, or rather lack of dressed, in these photos. Some of the players have had issues with the new rules, saying the tour is taking away their right and is objectifying them based on what they wear what playing. The men don’t get the same policies, though they do have a dress code, and it has left some women to be very critical of the President’s decision.

Here are 15 photos that clearly break the rules of the LPGA, and lucky for the ladies, they are off the course or you could count the dollar signs in fines that would be handed out.

15 Blair O’Neal

At 36-years-old Blair O’Neal might be one of the oldest on the list, but she’s also still one of the hottest women on tour. But what do you expect from a woman who is also a fashion and runway model for fashion shows? She turned professional back in 2004, and her website says her average drive distance is 270 yards, with her longest drive being 308 yards. Her website also tells you her modelling stats, which includes her being size 2 dress, and her measurements of 35-35-26. Not too many golfers give those on their official score card or bio on LPGA websites, but O’Neal has no problem showing off how good she looks, even if it costs her a few dollars in fines when on tour.

14 Cheyenne Woods

Cheyenne Woods would get a lot of eyes on here regardless of what she was wearing, but that is what happens when you are the niece of the best golf perhaps of all time, Tiger Woods. She was included in Golf Digests Most Beautiful Women in Golf this past year, and she rightfully could win the entire thing. At 27-years-old, she doesn’t have the same tournament win history as her uncle, as she has only won two tournaments in her career, neither of which came on the LPGA tour. She wants to be the first African-American woman to win an LPGA tour event, and hopefully, she doesn’t break any rules, because, with her famous last name, you know cameras are always on her, so she isn’t going to sneak anything by tour officials.

13 Michelle Wei

Michelle Wei would have a few fines here with his shoulders showing and a very short dress. But for a woman who has been on tour for over a decade already and has been the face of the LPGA, she gets a pass. Wei had to get an exemption to play on the LPGA tour at 17-years-old, as LPGA rules state you have to be 18 in order play professional. The American has five tour victories and won the 2014 U.S. Women’s Open by two strokes during her best year in 2014, where she was always ranked No.6 in the world, the highest she has ever been ranked. In total, she has earned over $6.5 million in tour winnings, so she can afford a few $1,000 fines for her clothing choices.

12 Elise Lobb

What really needs to be said about a girl who was once named Miss Daytona Beach. Elise Lobb definitely wouldn’t get on tour with this outfit, as she’s missing pretty well everything and would get fined a couple thousand dollars. But the co-host of Fox Sports Swing Clinic brings exactly what the LPGA is trying to avoid to the golf world, a gorgeous physique and a good looking swing, as she teaches others how to hit and ball and on her Instagram account you can get videos of her playing the game, as well as some other amazing photos that would make the LPGA reconsider her press pass. Who said showing a little skin while you’re looking to drain a birdie is a bad thing?

11 Sharmila Nicollet

Sharmila Nicollet has 11 career wins on the Women's Golf Association of India and has been a professional golfer since 2009 when she was just 18-years-old. She is only the second Indian national to get her professional card, and if she were to come to the LPGA tour dressed like this, she may receive a little fine for having too short of a dress. There is just something about beautiful women on a golf course, and we can’t understand why the LPGA wouldn’t celebrate the fact they have attractive women in their sport. It doesn’t take away from their game, they are still great athletes, like Nicollet is on the India tour, and could go a long way to helping market the sport more.

10 Lucy Robson

What is not to love about Lucy Robson. The college golfer is incredibly attractive, plays golf and is making it her mission to get more girls into playing golf. We call that a victory on all accounts. Lucy sticks to plenty of golf videos on her Instagram account, showing off her great swing, and at least for the most part, she keeps her account pretty classy in the pictures and video she posts. But we would be very happy if the LPGA would lighten up on their leggings policy, as Lucy Robson has amazing legs and backside, that obviously is from years of perfecting her swing. And she wants to encourage girls to play the game, so don’t stop her from anything she wants to do in that regards.

9 Lexi Thompson

At 19-years-old, Lexi Thompson won the 2014 Kraft Nabisco Championship, her only major championship of her career so far, but considering she has nine tour victories under her belt at 23-years-old, and was ranked No. 4 last year, there is plenty of game left in her. And if this is how she transitions from the golf course to a night out, we might want her to start missing the cut a lot sooner so we don’t have to deal with those pesky LPGA tour rules that wouldn’t let her show off her long legs. She definitely looks classy in this black dress and meets the rules of representing the tour properly, even if she looks like a knockout in the little black dress.

8 Sandra Gal

Sandra Gal was named Golf Digest’s World Hottest Golfer in 2012, so she has probably been on the list of women to look out for on the course for her dress attire. And why wouldn’t you? The German golfer, who only has a single tour victory in her career, is one of the hottest on tour as well. She hasn’t faired to well at major tournaments, with her best finish being in 2012 when she finished third at the U.S. Open, but with earnings over $3 million in her career, she can handle any fines the tour wants to hand her way. At 6-foot tall, if golf doesn’t work out much longer, she could hit the runway as a model,

7 Belen Mozo

Belen Mozo is known for her fitness and she posts plenty of fitness videos on her Instagram account, along with plenty of pictures showing off just how beautiful the Spaniard is. There are probably a few times when she has wanted to stay in her yoga pants when playing a round, and as fans, we would be perfectly fine with that, and would chip in to help her pay off the fine. Belen has appeared in ESPNs Body Issue showing off her toned body, and while she hasn’t won anything on tour yet, the 29-year-old has the power and strength needed to take some tour victories, and the looks to be a fan favourite for years to come.

6 Paula Creamer

Paula Creamer has not issue keeping in classy on the golf course, but when she lets loose for a moment, she can be an ace in the hole. Nicknamed The Pink Panther, the 31-year-old California native has 12 professional wins in her career that began back in 2005, and won the 2010 U.S. Women’s Open, while finishing third at the 2005 and 2011 Women’s Championship and British Open. Twice in her career, including her rookie season back in 2005, she was second on the money list, earning over $1.5 million dollars, but she has struggled in the last couple of years, earning only one top 10 finish last year and earning just over $141,000 in 19 tournaments.

5 McKenna Pautsch

Is there an heir to the throne of most beautiful woman in golf? Well, McKenna Pautsch might be that women. While her play at an NCAA Division III school didn’t get much attention, he looks and Instagram account sure did, as McKenna is known for her gorgeous photos that would find her in some hot water on the LPGA tour, whereas a college girl may get away with it. We wonder how the LPGA would react to a drop dead gorgeous woman coming up to the tee box with an Instagram account of amazing pictures that show off how beautiful she is, but not in the professional light the tour would want her to be seen? In fact, you aren’t finding much golf photos on her account, as McKenna knows very well that her looks are her golden ticket.

4 Kathleen Ekey

While she only has two tour wins as a professional, Kathleen Ekey looks like one of the sweetest women on tour with her mid-America smile and charm. We don’t know what rules she would break, but with her lean body, we are sure there is something the LPGA tour would have a problem with. After graduating from the University of Alabama, Ekey the jump to the pros. And while success hasn’t been easy, she did finish on top of the Futures Tour money list in 2011 and was named Player of the Year that year as well. She has only made the cut twice in majors, and at 31-years-old, time is running out for her to make her mark on tour.

3 Natalie Gulbis

If the rules were ever to apply to a female golfer, Natalie Gulbis would be the one they would apply to. She is considered a symbol by the LPGA. She released a 2005 calendar, just before the 2004 U.S. Women's Open, which featured her not only playing golf, but also in striking poses in swim wear. That got her a lot of unwanted attention from the tour, who deemed the calendar inappropriate. Gulbis has said that she likes the attention she gets, even if it is for her appearance, which shoots the LPGA right in the foot, as the policy they put in place is being shot down by their own members who don’t really care what people think when they are playing the game.

2 Anna Rawson

Anna Rawson hasn’t been on the tour since 2011, as she lost her tour card, but considering she is a model now, the LPGA is probably breathing a sigh of relief. The 5-foot-11 Australian has the long frame of a runway model, and looks amazing in photo shoots showing off her legs. Since the LPGA wouldn’t celebrate her beauty, and would fine her for any infraction, it’s safe to say that perhaps getting out of the tour wasn’t all that bad for Rawson. It should say something though when the best women in your sport are also good enough to be models. It makes you wonder what the LPGA marketing department is doing. We’re not saying swimsuit calendars, but you have very photographable women, so use that to sell your sport.

1 Paige Spiranac

Of course, this would end with Paige Spiranac, who is called the “Beautiful blonde golfer” and has received plenty of negative attention for how she dresses on the golf course. But she has also been the one to stand out and speak out against the LPGA’s rules on dress, and said it was shamming its own players by telling them what they found to be inappropriate for the golf course. Paige won’t slow down, however, and will appear in the Sports Illustrated’s swimsuit edition in 2018, most likely to the dismay of the LPGA wouldn’t think that is very professional for one of their players. But with over 1.4 million Instagram followers, the LPGA tour would have to fine her a lot of money to keep her quiet about an issue she is passionate about.

In my opinion, Paige is by far the sexiest golfer on the planet right now.

She has used her internet fame, such as being voted Maxim’s Sexiest Woman Alive, to open new roads for her game. She’s the most followed internet golf celebrity.

Her following has converted her from a mere golfer and a golf instructor to an influential person with multiple entrepreneurial deals. She also has a website  that offers subscriptions to her fans to get the inner scoop on her pictures and life.

Bathing suits LPGA golfers and ladies are a big part of golf. They have redefined the game by achieving extraordinary accuracy numbers and bringing more style and sauce.

Because of the mobility required in a golf swing, most LPGA golfers are fit. This brings in good bodies which look great in swimsuits.

Golf influencers are influencing a lot of golfers to dress provocatively on the golf course, which can cause issues with the older golfing community.

However, I believe golf should be about the sport, and how you dress can cause some intimidation in your partner, just like if you’re good at the game. If this gives you an extra edge on the course, I think it should be allowed and would make golf a touch more different and fun. What do you think?

GILBERT, Ariz. (AP) — Nelly Korda won her hometown event in a playoff after closing eagle-birdie. She withstood brutal wind in Southern California to win in another playoff last week.

The world No. 1 made it three straight by staying steady through a soggy Sunday in the desert.

Korda became the first LPGA Tour player in eight years to win three straight starts, shooting a 7-under 65 to rally for for a two-stroke victory in the Ford Championship.

“It’s very hard mentally to be 100% especially after a win, especially playing in tough conditions,” Korda said. “So as boring as it sounds I was just taking it shot by shot and seeing where I was going to end up. To get three in a row, that’s just a dream come true.”

Korda won the Drive On Championship in late January in her hometown of Bradenton, Florida, before sitting out all of the LPGA Tour’s Asian swing. She was still sharp after a seven-week break, winning the Fir Hill Seri Pak Championship in a playoff last week outside Los Angeles to move back atop the world ranking.

Korda stayed steady through four days in the desert, entering the final round two shots back through weather that got progressively worse at Seville Golf and Country Club.

Korda nearly holed out her second shot on the short par-4 16th to take the lead and birdied No. 18 to finish at 20-under 268 for her 11th career LPGA victory. She’s the first LPGA Tour player to win three straight starts since Ariya Jutanugarn in 2016 and first American since Nancy Lopez won five straight 1978.

“(It) just honestly feels like a blur,” Korda said. “Taking it day by day, really trying to stay very present and just played really good golf, solid golf in tough conditions today, which I’m very happy about.”

Australian rookie Hira Naveed was in position to tie Korda after hitting her second shot just right of the par-5 18th, but an indifferent chip led to a par. The former Pepperdine player shot 66 to finish second at 18 under in her second career start.

Lexi Thompson briefly shared the lead and was within a shot through 15 holes in her bid to win for the first time since 2019. She hit driver on the 16th and sent it way right into the water, leading to a bogey.

Thompson also missed a short par putt on No. 17 before closing with a two-putt birdie on 18 to shoot 68. She finished in a five-way tie for fourth at 17 under.

“It was crazy conditions, but it was almost just like it gets to where it’s mental when it comes to these kind of conditions,” Thompson said. “You just have to stay positive with it and know that pars are a good score. If you have a good number, take advantage of it; try to shoot for the pin and make some birdies.”

Temperatures dropped dramatically and steady rain fell most of the final round, adding a layer of difficulty at a tournament that started with two days of record-setting scores .

The inclement weather did little to slow the leaders down, with four players tied for the lead and 11 within two shots early on the back nine.

Korda had consecutive birdies starting on No. 4 to kick off her final round and added another on the par-4 ninth to turn in 3-under 33. She tied for the lead with a birdie on the par-5 12th and took it outright at 18 under by making a 6-foot birdie putt on 13.

Thompson and Haveed tied her, but Korda went back up with her near holeout on 16, setting up a birdie that gave her a one-shot lead. Korda hit a massive drive on No. 18 and chipped to three feet for a closing birdie.

“Just tried to stay really aggressive and I knew I had to shoot a low one to be in contention,” Korda said “Just played really smart golf out there today.”

Naveed made the record-low cut of 5 under on the number and raced up the leaderboard with a third-round 65 before the winds picked up. She pulled into a tie for the lead at 18 under with a birdie on the island par-3 17th, but left her chip on 18 about 20 feet short and missed the putt.

“It’s just breathing a sigh of relief really and just saying, ‘All right, put your head down, there is scoring opportunities out there,’” Naveed said. “Just go out there and try to do the best you can, commit to every shot, and try and hole some putts. So happy to do that on the weekend.”

So is Korda after putting herself in position to make it four straight at the T-Mobile Match Play next week in Las Vegas.

LPGA rookie bares all in ESPN's 'Body Issue'

Lexi Thompson may be the LPGA's next big star, but the tour certainly wouldn't mind seeing Belen Mozo rise to prominence, either.

The Spanish-born Mozo has been drawing attention after posing nude in ESPN Magazine's 'Body Issue.' Camilo Villegas appeared in the issue last year and a trio of LPGA players -- Sandra Gal, Anna Grzebien and Christina Kim -- appeared in the magazine in 2009.

Mozo was an LPGA rookie this year after four years as an All-American at USC. She made the cut in her last four events, including a T-5 in the Walmart NW Arkansas Championship last month.

Look to see more of her next season. Or you can watch the video below. There's plenty of her int that, too.
