Neighbours announces 40th anniversary UK tour
By Matt Sole
After teasing us last month with news of a new Neighbours event , today it has been confirmed that the cast of Neighbours will be returning to the UK in 2025 to celebrate the show’s 40th anniversary.
Some of your favourite faces from Erinsborough will be taking to the stage in 6 UK cities in February 2025, just ahead of the show’s milestone birthday. Neighbours is the first Australian TV drama to ever reach such an anniversary.
Back by popular demand, following the phenomenal success of The Celebration Tour of 2023, will see 6 dates across the UK including Birmingham, Cardiff, Glasgow, Manchester and at the world-famous London Palladium; home to the best entertainment shows in London.
The show’s producers, Mapletree Entertainment, have promised a brand-new line up and a brand new reason to celebrate in the tour, which will be hosted once again by Sky News presenter Leah Boleto, herself a life-long fan of the show.
The audience can expect surprises, never before-heard stories, and all the inside scoop on what life is really like in Erinsborough. The night promises to be the ultimate toast to over 9000 episodes of Neighbours which originally debuted in March 1985.
The show was cancelled by its original broadcaster, Channel 7, after just a few months, being picked up by rival network, Channel 10 the following year.
The show once again was axed in 2022 after UK broadcaster, Channel 5, pulled out their financing of the show. Just 4 months after the ‘final’ episode aired, Amazon announced that they were picking the show back up for their Freevee streaming platform and the show returned to production in April 2023. Since the show debuted on Amazon in September 2023 it has consistently been their most-streamed show on Freevee in the UK, but is also available to viewers in South Africa, the USA and Canada on the platform.
In 2023 six cast members toured the UK for Neighbours – The Celebration Tour. The tour was a huge sell-out success and received 5 star reviews from national press.
Tickets will go on general sale on 10 April at 10am. Pre sale 8 April at 10am.
Cast of the show are yet to be confirmed, but it is guaranteed to be a night of joy and delight for every Neighbours fan there.

Neighbours farewell tour announces official details and venues
The Neighbours cast are to make the journey from down under for their hotly-anticipated UK tour.
The Aussie soap's stars were supposed to make it to London's West End with the Neighbours: Live in Conversation show in 2020, but the date was postponed due to the pandemic.
Neighbours' production company FremantleMedia and live events company Maple Tree Entertainment have announced that the original show has been rescheduled, adding a further seven dates throughout the UK for March 2023.
The tour dates include:
Monday, March 6 - Manchester Bridgewater Hall
Wednesday, March 8 - Edinburgh Festival Theatre
Friday, March 10 - Glasgow Royal Concert Hall
Sunday, March 12 - Cardiff St David’s Hall
Tuesday, March 14 - London Palladium Theatre
Thursday, March 16 - Birmingham Symphony Hall
Saturday, March 17 - Brighton Centre
Sunday, March 18 - Southampton Mayflower Theatre
Tickets will be going on general sale at all venues on 17 June, with a pre-sale on 15 June.
"When Neighbours: Live in Conversation sold out within 24 hours, we knew that the love for the show could see it tour the UK, and there is no better time to take to the road than to mark the end and to honour its rich and lengthy history," Dean Elliott, producer at Maple Tree Entertainment, said in a statement.
"We can't wait to put on a show that the fans will love and deserve."
There will be meet-and-greet opportunities and a Q&A section planned at each location.
In March, Neighbours was cancelled after Channel 5 dropped it from its schedule and the soap failed to secure new funding options.
Now a farewell tour, the theatre production will take place following the beloved soap's last-ever episode, set to air on 1 August this year.
Ahead of the one-hour finale, the soap is gearing up to tie up some loose ends and welcome back some well-known faces to Ramsay Street.
Neighbours airs weekdays at 1.45pm and 6pm on Channel 5 and streams on My5. In Australia, the show airs Mondays to Thursdays at 6.30pm on 10 Peach and streams on 10 Play.

Neighbours: The Celebration Tour review – the perfect blend of poignancy and Toadfish jokes
This stage show sees the actors behind Paul Robinson and Toadie argue over who had most marriages, before a genuinely touching thank you to fans – who leave the show’s stars in tears
N eighbours being cancelled, Kylie and Jason Donovan reprising their roles and the soap creating international headlines for its celebratory finale … before being revived by a streaming service just over three months later is, no question, peak Neighbours .
The same can also be said for the tour. A one-off Live in Conversation special had been planned, featuring cast members talking about and sharing their favourite moments, to mark the Australian soap’s 35th anniversary in 2020. Those plans were then shelved because of Covid. Then last year, when the show was cancelled after Channel 5 decided to not renew its contract, Neighbours announced The Farewell Tour. Now, with the soap being picked up by Amazon’s Freevee streaming service , it has changed its name once again to Neighbours: The Celebration Tour.
The excitement in the room beforehand was palpable, the gift shop thronged with fans buying plastic Ramsay Street replica signs. The show itself, mostly consisting of a Q&A, leaned heavily into discussing the more surreal elements of the daytime soap that made it such a firm favourite. “Life on Neighbours for Toadie was about being involved in a bouncy castle accident, being run over, shot …” said the host, Leah Boleto, to the actor who portrayed him, Ryan Moloney, as a montage of those accidents played silently on a screen behind them.
“What?! It could happen!” declared Jackie Woodburne (Susan Kennedy) when questioned about a storyline that involved her slipping on milk, banging her head and thinking she was a teenager. She recounted the time her character had to perform an emergency tracheostomy on Lou after he started choking in the aftermath of a tornado, aided only by a butter knife, a straw and instructions down the phone from her on-screen partner, Dr Karl Kennedy (Alan Fletcher). In case you are wondering, Lou made a full recovery. “All in a day’s work,” said Fletcher.
The audience cheered when shown a clip of Susan slapping Karl after he had admitted to an affair. April Rose Pengilly (Chloe Brennan) talked about how many Simpsons references she managed to slip into her dialogue. And Annie Jones (Plain Jane Superbrain) was introduced with a clip from a storyline where her son had revealed that he was an escort, followed by a portrait of Mrs Mangal falling off the wall and crashing to the ground.
This surrealism continued into the second half. It began with a montage of Neighbours explosions from over the years. Now with the cast sitting together, rather than being interviewed separately, there were lighthearted discussions on topics such as who had the most weddings, with Toadie’s seven (one notably ending with him accidentally driving off a cliff into the sea) beaten by Paul Robinson’s nine; the character, played by Stefan Dennis, has had six wives. It would have been nice if the cast had all sat together from the start of the show.
after newsletter promotion
The event was strongest when the cast spoke frankly about the shock of the soap’s cancellation, the pain they felt saying goodbye to the crew (some of whom left weeks before the final episode even aired), followed by their surprise that it had been saved . Neighbours was reincarnated by Amazon, but that was very much due to the fans, many of whom had been campaigning online for months and many of whom must have been in that audience. While the soap was often silly and surreal, it also contained a natural warmth and inclusiveness that many shows lack. The cast relished the opportunity to thank fans for their support, with several revealing that they had cried during the meet and greets that had taken place that day. It felt like a rare and genuine opportunity to say thank you.
It also ended with a rather touching moment. Directly before goading the entire audience into singing the soap’s theme tune, the cast got up from their seats and stood in a row at the front. Woodburne then reprised Susan’s narration from the soap’s final scene shown last July, when her character walked around Erinsborough making observations on her fellow neighbours. Only this time she shared the lines with her co-stars and added in several extra words. “Together we are … and we will continue to be … the perfect blend,” she said.

Neighbours: The Farewell Tour has announced the first two legendary characters joining the line-up.
The news was announced on ITV’s Lorraine today (Wednesday, July 13) by presenter Carol Vorderman who revealed the two iconic Neighbours stars set to join the tour next year, which will open in Belfast on March 1 2023 and tour 15 dates throughout the UK.
Mainstay characters Jackie Woodburne and Alan Fletcher, who have played lovable Karl and Susan Kennedy for 27 years, are the first cast to join the highly-anticipated tour and will be travelling to the UK in March 2023.
The tour promises to treat fans to ‘Never-before-heard stories from Erinsborough’ with an opportunity for an audience Q&A and even a chance to meet the stars in person, while fans will also have a chance to reminisce on their favourite Ramsay Street moments.
Lovingly called ‘The King and Queen of Ramsay Street,’ the soap icons have remained on the show since joining in 1994 and have been at the centre of some of the biggest storylines over almost three decades.
Some of their most dramatic scenes included Karl’s affair with Sarah Beaumont and the breakdown of their marriage when Karl fell for Izzy Hoyland.
Meanwhile, the couple were also involved in more emotional episodes that saw Susan battle with MS and amnesia and not forgetting the infamous Finn Kelly storyline in 2020.

Welcome Back To Ramsay Street – Here's Everything We Know About Neighbours' Return
Entertainment Editor, HuffPost UK
Neighbours fans were left feeling bereft in March 2022, when it was announced that the Australian soap would be coming to an end after 37 years.
The news followed months of desperate searching to find a new international broadcast partner to help fund the show, after its biggest investor – the UK’s Channel 5 – made the decision to pull out and stop airing it.
Come July, we said a tearful goodbye to the residents of Ramsay Street – seemingly forever – but just four months later, it was revealed Neighbours was about to pull off the biggest back-from-the-dead plot twist in soap history.
Bosses announced that a new deal had been struck with Amazon, meaning the show would be able to produce new episodes to air on the free streaming service Freevee in the UK, internationally on Prime Video, and return to Network 10 in Australia.
With filming on the new Neighbours episodes having begun back in April, the countdown is officially on until we’re welcomed back to Erinsborough. Here’s everything we know about its return so far...
When is Neighbours back?
Neighbours has been confirmed for a September launch date. Amazon Freevee later sent confirmation of the show’s exact launch date in a press newsletter to media outlets, which it has since admitted was done in error. The date had been published by HuffPost UK in a previous version of this article.
It is not yet known if there will be a gap between Australia and the UK, but Network 10 has retained first-run rights to the show in Oz.
Whatever the outcome, though, we shouldn’t expect too big a gap, as the show has also been confirmed for an unspecified September launch Down Under.
In the meantime, UK fans can watch iconic episodes from the Neighbours archive, and the complete 2012 – 2018 seasons, on Freevee.

How did Neighbours end in 2022?
Neighbours appeared to be pretty well wrapped up by the time its finale aired in July 2022, with lots of long-running storylines reaching a conclusion, and a host of former residents returning to the street to bid farewell.
While the last episode was set against the wedding of Toadie Rebecchi and Melanie Pearson, the big news was the return of the show’s 80s power couple Charlene and Scott Robinson , played by Kylie Minogue and Jason Donovan .
The couple – who hadn’t been seen on Ramsay Street since 1988 – paid an unexpected visit to Erinsborough, as the show reunited another of its much-loved 80s pairings, Jane Harris and Mike Young.
Guy Pearce jetted in from Hollywood to film scenes for the soap’s swan song, as his character moved back to the Street to give things another go with his former love Jane.
There were also romantic reunions for Terese Willis and Paul Robinson, Chloe Brennan and Elly Conway, and Nicolette Stone and Kiri Durant.
With all but one of the houses on Ramsay Street up for sale in the final days of the series, it ended will all the residents – bar Chloe, who decided to move to Sydney with Elly – choosing to stay put.
Neighbours’ closing moments then saw Susan Kennedy looking affectionately at her friends and neighbours at their Street party, as actor Jackie Woodburne narrated a moving entry into the Ramsay Street History Book.
Which characters are returning to Neighbours for the reboot?
The news Neighbours was returning came with confirmation that long-standing cast members Alan Fletcher, Jackie Woodburne, Stefan Dennis and Ryan Moloney would be back.
Since then, there have been a number of announcements about Neighbours’ returning full-time cast, and the those confirmed so far are:
- Alan Fletcher as Dr Karl Kennedy
- Jackie Woodburne as Susan Kennedy
- Stefan Dennis as Paul Robinson
- Ryan Moloney as Toadie Rebecchi
- Annie Jones as Jane Harris
- Rebekah Elmaloglou as Terese Willis
- Georgie Stone as Mackenzie Hargreaves
- Tim Kano as Leo Tanaka
- Lucinda Cowden as Melanie Pearson
- Lloyd Will as Andrew Rodwell
- Candice Leask as Wendy Rodwell
- Emerald Chan as Sadie Rodwell
- Lucinda Armstrong Hall as Holly Hoyland
A number of other characters are confirmed for guest appearances in the new episodes, who are:
- Melissa Bell as Lucy Robinson
- Ian Smith as Harold Bishop
- April Rose Pengilly as Chloe Brennan
- Guy Pearce as Mike Young
- Jodi Gordon as Elly Conway
It's official folks... Guy Pearce is riding back into Erinsborough as Mike Young in all new episodes of #neighbours later this year... pic.twitter.com/Gpb7QK8yY5 — Neighbours (@neighbours) May 22, 2023
We're absolutely thrilled that Jodi Gordon will soon be back on set to reprise her role as Elly Conway. This officially means that #Chelly will be reunited on screen in all new episodes of #Neighbours later this year... get excited! pic.twitter.com/rekVvrsqOa — Neighbours (@neighbours) May 25, 2023
Meanwhile, fan forums and Reddit threads are awash with speculation there are more returning cast members still to be announced, who include:
- Morgan Baker as Callum Rebecchi
- Takaya Honda as David Tanaka
- Matt Wilson as Aaron Brennan
- Bonnie Anderson as Bea Nilsson
- Benjamin McNair as Malcom Kennedy
It has also been claimed the role of Nicolette Stone has been recast to new actor Hannah Monson, taking over from Charlotte Chimes, who has confirmed she will not be part of the reboot .
There have also been suggestions that Toadie’s youngest children, Nell and Hugo Rebecchi, have been recast, as well as Jane Harris’ son Byron, who was previously played by Joe Klocek for a guest stint in the show’s final weeks.
Who are the new cast members coming to Neighbours?
Fans can also expect to see lots of fresh faces when the show returns, as it has already been confirmed there will be a new family on the Street – the Varga-Murphys – and a new manager for Harold’s coffee shop in the shape of Haz Devkar.
Former star of The O.C. Mischa Barton will also appear in a guest role as the mysterious Reece Sinclair.
Former Big Brother Australia contestant Xavier Molyneux has also been spotted filming , although he has not been officially announced as being part of the cast yet.
New cast announced for the show so far are:
- Sara West as Cara Varga-Murphy
- Naomi Rukavina as Remi Varga-Murphy
- Marley Williams as Dex Varga-Murphy
- Riley Bryant as JJ Varga-Murphy
- Shiv Palekar as Haz Devkar
- Mischa Barton as Reece Sinclair

What do we know about the storylines for the new Neighbours?
It is believed there will be a time jump from the events of the finale when Neighbours returns – likely a year, but possibly two, to explain why some faces are no longer on the Street.
It has also been hinted that the new series will feature flashbacks, with April Rose Pengilly (Chloe Brennan) posting on Instagram that she was filming on Ramsay Street with confetti on the floor, which you’ll remember rained down on the cast in the closing moments of the show.
There have been claims that Guy Pearce’s second return as Mike Young will feature in flashbacks, as the Hollywood star isn’t believed to be coming back full-time.
Elsewhere, it has been speculated that Mischa Barton’s character has a link to former Erinsborough bad guy Finn Kelly, which could spell trouble for the Kennedys, who had a tortuous time at the hands of the evil teacher.
It has also been teased that someone in the Varga-Murphy family “has an ulterior motive for being in Erinsborough... And it’ll have explosive ramifications for their neighbours”.
While other details are not yet known, Alan Fletcher, who plays Dr Karl Kennedy, has claimed fans have a lot to look forward to when the show returns.
“The new storylines that they’ve got for these first few weeks of Neighbours are startling,” he told Digital Spy last month. “I actually got in contact with our story team by email the other night when I read the latest scripts that I’ve received, just to congratulate them.
“They’re some of the most innovative and exciting scripts I’ve ever seen in the show on my 28 years. The fans have got an enormous amount to look forward to.”

It’s been a busy few weeks for Charli XCX — which means an exciting few weeks for Angels across the UK, as not only has the pop star announced the release date for her sixth studio album, Brat (Friday 7th June), and dropped two new singles from the album, but the singer has also released tickets for her London Partygirl DJ set and UK arena tour.
If you’ve been a fan of Charli XCX for a while (the RadioTimes.com team have been here since the Boom Clap days, and what a ride it’s been!), you’ll know that the upcoming Brat UK shows will be Charli XCX’s biggest tour to date, with concerts at arenas such as London’s The O2, Manchester’s Co-op Live and Glasgow’s OVO Hydro.
The Von Dutch singer first used Myspace to put her music out to the world, and the UK rave scene inspired her 2008 debut single !Franchesckaar!, but it was perhaps the songs I Love It (which Charli XCX gave to Swedish duo Icona Pop) and Fancy, with Iggy Azalea, which brought Charli XCX to our attention.
The global hit Fancy dropped just before Charli XCX’s sophomore album, Sucker, which featured the tracks Break the Rules and Boom Clap.

Angels have since been blessed with the albums How I'm Feeling Now, which was created during lockdown using back-and-forth feedback from Charli XCX fans, and 2022’s Crash. Contrary to the title, Crash was the 31-year-old’s most commercially successful album.
Brat is the hugely anticipated follow-up to Crash, and we have high hopes for both the album and the UK tour. So, let’s find out how you can secure tickets today.
