Ratings and Reviews

Very hard to deal with.

I booked a flight from Auckland to London return on the Webjet web site. As soon as I had paid fir it I realised that the return flight included a stop over in Brisbane fir 8 hours so I rung webjet to have it changed. I was on the phone for an hour, finally the flight was changed and I made the fee for that. A couple of days later I checked the confirmation email confirming the changes and found out the return flight was now for the wrong month. In fact we were leaving Auckland on the 8/8 which was correct and returning from London on the 11/08. Which should have been the 11/10 so when the customer service person changed the return flight they booked it on entirely the wrong month. Lucky I looked as I would have not found out until we got to the airport. When I contacted then again they did fix it up with no charge but so they should have. Today I have been on a live chat with Webjet for over an hour talking to two different people who asked me the same questions, then I got disconnected and nothing was fixed. I was enquiring about paying to upgrade our flights. They are quick to take your money but aren’t interested after the booking. The last customer service person had, and confirmed my email address so when the live chat stopped they should have contacted me but that hasn’t happened.

Website is great booking, but after booking service and information service is almost non existent

Webjet for is great for finding travel information, and the actual bookings itself, but if you need to make further enquiries or try to upgrade your flight. This is where Webjet is not very good, information is very vague if any, the telephone supplied just plays music for hours and hours, you can spend a whole 12 hours on hold and not get answered. Then if you go to the airline for help you are told you need to call Webjet as they cannot help you. Though Webjet can be great to find flights, accommodation or package deals and car hire. They are not great at all for actual service or dealing with information to held after booking service or information and the airline cannot help. Rating reflect the equal good and bad as if you have no problems then there is no issue then webjet site is fantastic if you get what you need, but if problems don’t count on getting help from webjet. I didn’t after three day trying I just gave up.

Like a travel agent in your phone

I fly approximately once a week for business and I usually book travel through my EA. Occasionally though, I might need to book a flight at short notice due to travelling with friends, or being a funny time of day. I remembered Webjet from the very early days of web-based travel sites and they have stood the test of time. I used the app for the first time in the last few months and found it seamless. Since then, I have used it a couple of times and have had similar experiences. All of the carriers you need for Australian domestic travel are there, it’s a great side-by-side comparison, and you can store your frequent-flier details and travel details there, so you are not refilling forms every time. The booking fees are minimal, certainly less than if you were to jump from side to side yourself and spend time comparing side by side just to save a few dollars. You save it back in time and effort, as well as getting the flights. You actually wanted for the best price. Five stars for busy people who value their own time and energy.

Is It Worth Booking Flights on Webjet? Our Review

Webjet is an Australian online travel agent. They have been around for a long time and were one of the first online travel booking sites in Australia.

But is it worth actually using Webjet to book flights in Australia? Here’s our review:

Webjet Charges Booking Fees

When you book a flight through Webjet you are charged two extra fees that you aren’t charged when you book directly with the airline:

Webjet charges a “Webjet Booking Price Guarantee”. Webjet says they will hold the price of your ticket for 30 minutes. In my experience prices for flights don’t change that rapidly. I don’t think this is a good deal for most people.

The second fee is the Webjet Servicing Fee. This is a booking fee that Webjet charges you for simply booking through their interface.

If you were to book the exact same price directly with the Airline, you wouldn’t pay these fees:

The one upside to using Webjet is they won’t charge you an extra fee to change flights. However you will still need to pay the airline fees for changing flight, Webjet won’t add on extra fees on top as they’ve already charged you an extra fee.

There are a number of things you can book on Webjet; flights, hotels, packages etc. And not all products have booking fees. For example the packages don’t have fees. These might be better value and it’s worth comparing prices with other package sites like Luxury Escapes .

Changes Need to Be Made Through Webjet

Whenever you book through a travel agent instead of directly with an airline, you’ll need to make changes through the agent. Even if you call the airline directly, they’ll tell you to get in touch with the agent.

Depending on the airline you might not be able to use the Airline’s website to update your booking and do things like select seats, add your Frequent Flyer number etc. And if the airlines schedule change and you need to change flights, you have to do this through Webjet.

Webjet most likely has much better customer support than many discount online travel agents, but it’s often just easier to book direct with the airline so you can use their website to make booking adjustments.

Good Interface

One thing I do like about Webjet is the search interface. It does make it easy to quickly compare prices, especially for domestic flights in Australia. One thing you could do is search for flights through Webjet and then just book directly with the airline to save money.

Who Owns Webjet

Webjet is listed on the ASX and is a public company. While some online travel agents don’t disclose who they are owned by, Webjet is a public company and has been around for a long time. Webjet is definitely legit and is not a scam.

Is it Worth Booking Flights with Webjet?

I don’t think it makes a lot of sense to book flights through Webjet. The only real reason to use an online travel agent is to save money. But Webjet charges two extra booking fees which makes them more expensive. You will be able to get a cheaper price by booking the flight directly with the airline.

Webjet makes booking flights super easy. I can go on and see all the flights, times, carriers, specials, and prices very quickly and decide what suits me best. On the calendar, they post the prices so you can choose days that might be better priced. Customer Support has been very good. So far no issues. Easy way to book your travel.

Planning easy and budget perfect

It was easy to plan a multicity trip that spanned 3 months. The prices were exceptionally good. I saved over $500 on the quote from a travel agent. I used the hotline to ensure that I hadn't missed anything and asked about visas. They pointed me in the right direction and allayed some of my anxiety.

So easy to use

As soon as I logged on, the browser was so easy to navigate. I was able to mix and match my flights and once these were booked, to be offered a discount on a hotel and car hire was a bonus. I was able to complete all my holiday bookings from the comfort of my lounge room.

Booked flight through webjet. When i go to check-in airline told me that there is not ticket available under my name. Only booked through webject since i have previous flight credit and you can only able to book it back with webjet. Recommedning booking directly with airline.

Webjet are excellent.

After wasting hours trying to book return tickets from Melbourne to Brisbane on the Rex website, which just bumped me off every time I got to the last step, I booked my tickets through webjet. it was quick, easy to follow website. Have used them previously and all flight info, itinerary etc is sent as promised, and available on website or app. Excellent service.

Webjet is easy and simple

Booking through Webjet is seamless and super quick. The website lists out different price range in a matter of few seconds and it's easy for customer to pick their choice of service providers be it flights or hotels or cabs etc. Highly recommend Webjet for any sort of trip planning.

I love the fact that Webjet has a variety of payment platforms available. It allows accessibility for more people who may not have the funds available upfront. I had a lot less stress buying tickets knowing I could use the afterpay function to get a flight home. Webjet is truly the best, smoothest & seamless way to find & book flights. I have never used this platform before, but now, it is my "go-to." Having struggled & ultimately failed, to sort my flights using a major Australian airline website (of which I'm a frequent flyer), I was easily able to book my destination without issue or hassle. Worst booking experience EVER!

I tried to book a flight on April 1st and the website shut down while trying to process my credit card payment. I tried again and paid by PayID instead. The payment went through, but I didn't get any email confirmation for 24hrs. When I called the next day, I was told the payment was cancelled (never understood why as the money had left my account!) and had to rebook my flights, which I did. Once again, I didn't get any email confirmation (but the credit card payment went through) so I called back. I was then told that one of my flights was booked out so I had to make a change before I could receive my tickets. I did make the change, got an email with my flight details, but would have to wait up to 48hrs to get my receipt (proof of payment). 72hrs hours I still hadn't received my receipt so I called back. The lady on the phone told me that my flight had been CANCELLED by one of the Webjet employee, but she couldn't tell me why and who did it. Once again, I didn't receive an email informing me of this situation, nor was I offered a refund. So basically, my flights were cancelled without my knowledge but Webjet kept my payment. It's now Saturday and apparently there is no supervisor available outside of Mon-Fri 9-5, so I have to wait another 48hrs to figure out how this mess can be fixed. I have never experienced such a painful and stressful experience while booking plane tickets.

I'm sold on Webjet!

I was expecting it to be really difficult to book flights. But the experience with Webjet was just the opposite. The website was very easy to use and I was able to compare prices of the different airlines. I certainly saved money by booking departing and returning flights with different airlines. And I was also able to select the departure times that I needed. First time I've used Webjet and I'm sold!

It was easy to book and compare the prices on different airlines, and their was a sale making the price cheaper than booking directly. However, there are a lot of booking fees added to the advertised price. Ideal it was still slightly cheaper than booking direct but $40 worth of fees on top of the advertised ticket price is a bit annoying. The price should be included to made it easier to compare.

Cancelled our flight and did not offer to be re-routed as per the airline

My family and I booked flights for the US in January. We were contacted in March saying that the flights have been cancelled and our only option was a refund. Our trip is 14 weeks away and it states it may take up to 12 weeks to be processed. I called the direct airline to see if they could expedite our refund as we need the money to rebook the flights. The airline told us that we should have been offered to be re-routed free of charge and to have someone from Webjet call them to arrange. I have now called Webjet twice and they have continuously told me that they will be in contact, but that we are ticketed for a refund. We do not want the refund as rebooking will cost an additional $2,000 compared to the prices we were able to get in January. We would like to be able to keep our tickets as originally booked. However, there has still been no success to date.

Finding the right flight at the right price took a few searches over 48hrs but well worth it as I found and booked the exact flight I needed for the same price as with previous flight, so very happy with this. It’s well established that flights in the low season are generally cheaper than ticket prices during the high season.
