Jordan Discovery tour

I booked the Jordan Discovery tour with Explore, and it was absolutely amazing. The hotels were lovely, and I had the best guide Abdallah. We started in Amman and worked our way down to the dead sea, camped in Wadi Rum and stayed in Petra. The highlight of the tour was the Treasury of Petra and sleeping under the stars in Wadi Rum. Abdallah was an excellent guide who went above and beyond. His knowledge of Jordan's history is exceptional. I learnt so much about Jordan from Abdallah on this trip. He helped with finding the best restaurants and even gave history talks during the journey to each historic site. Explore have packaged this trip perfectly. The Jordanians are so kind and lovely. I felt super safe to walk around alone day or night. I highly recommend this tour and hope you get the amazing Abdallah as your guide.

Amalfi Coast Walking — Hotel Sole

Matteo Giordano proved to be an excellent and loveable guide. Matteo is knowledgeable in both the terrain and history of the Amalfi coast. We were fortunate that Matteo took us to visit his family lemon orchard, where his mom and dad welcomed as friends and treated us to a couple of specialties. Being in my late eighties, I chose to participate in three of the leisurely walks, which I found challenging but well worth the effort. Midweek the trip to Herculaneum and Pompeii was guided by a colleague of Matteo’s, Francesco. He knows his history and added a lot of interesting information to our visit. On the other days that I chose not to hike, I spent a few hours reading on the lovely and sunny Hotel Sole terrace and walking about Maiori, enjoying this seafront town. Another day was spent taking the ferry to both Amalfi and Positano. The multi-generational Hotel Sole staff was very welcoming and every morning, with a smile on her face, the hostess enquired “Cafe Americano?”. March or November is a great time of they year to take this walk, as the weather is a little cooler, the crowds a little smaller and the restaurants quieter.

Hi Gerald, Thank you so much for your review of your recent Amalfi Coast Walking – Seafront Hotel Sole holiday. We are so happy to hear that you enjoyed your tour and that Matteo and Francesco provided such a wonderful experience. Please be assured we will pass on your kind feedback to the Product team and Matteo and Francesco. We hope to have the chance to welcome you on another Explore adventure soon!

Miserable shambles in Costa Rica

Family trip to Costa Rica is an expensive shambles - the itinerary is vague and rose tinted. The reality is shabby lodges with terrible food, pointless ‘nature hikes’ with zero wildlife to be seen, on crowded paths only metres from the car park. Food provided is ghastly. Every day is spent hour after hour in the bus, arriving at the next dismal hotel in the dark. Explore have managed to remove any element of authentic Costa Rican life from this trip and keep you isolated in aging hotels, far away from any ambiance or culture. Save your money, folks, and just hire a car - everyone speaks English & you don’t need the miserable experience provided by Explore

Date of experience : 03 April 2024

Thank you for sharing your feedback regarding your recent trip in Costa Rica. We regret that your experience did not meet your expectations and appreciate the opportunity to address your concerns. While we endeavour to offer a balanced itinerary of adventure, exploration, and cultural immersion, we understand that individual preferences may vary. We partner with reputable providers for transportation and accommodation, and we regret any disappointment you experienced in this regard. Costa Rican cuisine is renowned for its simplicity and freshness, and while we aim to cater to diverse palates, we understand that tastes can differ. Regarding wildlife sightings and nature hikes, while we showcase the country's rich biodiversity, we acknowledge that nature can be unpredictable. We were grateful that you contacted us towards the end of your tour, with your feedback. Whilst we did provide an opportunity for you to leave the tour given your dissatisfaction, however, you chose to continue. Your feedback is invaluable, as we continually strive to enhance our offerings. We have already received direct feedback from you regarding your concerns and will reply to those in the next few days. Thank you once again for your feedback.

Not adventure - a coach holiday

Advertised by Explore ! As adventure tourism, actually it’s 8 hours trapped in a bus- the reality bares no resemblance to the itinerary provided. It’s a coach holiday basically- day after day schlepping around in a stuffy bus with an hour or so a day to get out & trudge along a crowded path in the ‘rain forest’. Same food rice & beans day in day out - dreadful experience, itinerary is a complete deception.

I have responded to your most recent review concerning this trip.

Just back from the Inca Trail Trek in…

Just back from the Inca Trail Trek in Peru and had a great time. Knowledgeable friendly local guide, clean comfortable hotels, good food and tents when camping. Could have had a little more information about what to pack for camping and a little more time to explore Saqsaywaman and Macchu Picchu (though accept that the latter is restricted by Peruvian regulations for protection of the site). Was it perfect? No, but what is; I certainly have no complaints and the fact that this was my 11th trip with Explore in 12 years is testament to the fact that this experience was not a one off.

Date of experience : 07 April 2024

Dear Helen, Thank you so much for taking the time to review your Inca Trail Trek holiday. We are delighted to see that you had a great time whilst on tour. I have forwarded your comments on providing a bit more information on what to pack for the camping portion of the holiday on to the Product Manager for the region. We sincerely appreciate your suggestion and are so happy to see you found the hotels to have been clean and comfortable and the food good. We cannot wait to welcome you on trip 12 soon! Kind regards, Explore!

Walking Jordan's Spice Trails

Walking Jordan's Spice Trails Just back from a fantastic few days walking through parts of Jordan including Wadi Rum, Petra, Little Petra, Madobar and Jerash. The scenery was amazing, our guide, Saleh, was extremely knowledgeable and patient and we learnt a lot about the history of Jordan and gained an understanding of the modern day country. This was the first guided tour trip I have been on. It was very well organised allowing a reasonable amount of time in each area. We spent a day in Amman before joing the trip and a few days in Aqaba at the end. All the Jordanians we met were very welcoming and we felt safe for the whole of the visit. I'd fully recommend the tour.

Date of experience : 24 February 2024

Thank you so much for your wonderful review! We're thrilled to hear that your walking tour through Jordan's Spice Trails, was a fantastic experience for you. We're delighted to have made your first guided tour memorable with well-organized itineraries and a good balance of time in each area. Your endorsement means a lot to us, and we're pleased to hear you felt safe and welcomed by the Jordanian people throughout your visit. We appreciate your recommendation and look forward to hosting you on more incredible journeys in the future!

Fantastic service. Would recommend

We were on holiday in Sri Lanka when an accident meant we had to return home after 3 days. The staff at Explore were absolutely amazing. They helped to sort our return so quickly, working with our Insurance Company. The Emergency Duty Manager was on hand 24/7 (which was great due to the time difference). We really cannot praise them highly enough. we have been fortunate over many years to never need any assistance, but thankfully they showed at this time how good they are. Would highly recommend them. A special thank you to Yvonne, Cally and Jenny who sorted flights and special assistance at the airports all in under 24 hours . Fantastic service !! Thank you all.

Date of experience : 25 February 2024

Thank you for sharing your experience with us Robert. We greatly appreciate your kind words regarding the support you received from our team, especially Yvonne, Cally, and Jenny. It's heartening to know that our staff's quick response and assistance, even in challenging situations, left a positive impression. We're grateful for the recommendation and look forward to welcoming you back again soon.

Classic Egypt and Nile Cruise

We’ve just completed a tour of Egypt, the “Classic Egypt with Nile Cruise” which included the pyramids, Abu Simbel, cruising on the Nile and a whole lot more. The whole trip was expertly handled by our Explore tour guide Waleed. His knowledge of Egyptian history was phenomenal and interestingly woven into stories. He soon tuned into the interests of our little group and his sense of humour made for a relaxed atmosphere. He took care to ensure every aspect of the trip was safe, the guidance he gave for us as travellers was appropriate and wise. Egypt is safe and a fascinating place to visit. There is so much amazing history. We absolutely loved this holiday and recommend it whole heartedly. Visit Egypt and you won’t regret it. Ask for Waleed a fab Egyptologist.

Date of experience : 29 December 2023

Thank you so much for your review, Karen! We are delighted that you had such an enjoyable time on your Classic Egypt with Nile Cruise holiday and that Walid provided such a wonderful experience. I will pass on your kind feedback to the Product team and Walid. We hope to have the chance to welcome you on your next Explore adventure soon!

Discover Nepal

This was a fantastic trip (my 28th with Explore and one of the very best). Every day was enjoyable. Kiran Deo Bhatt our guide was simply outstanding. The accommodation was first class (normally this is one area Explore gets marked down on by me slightly but no complaints on this occasion) and the Nepali people so kind and welcoming. This trip is a brilliant blend of culture nature and walking. Expect long drives on dusty uneven roads but if you are after a genuine experience theseare well worth it. The white water rafting was something I was reticent about but it was great fun. Recommend you do all of the optional activities. Simply brilliant.

Date of experience : 16 December 2023

Thank you so much for your review, Andrew! We are delighted that you had such an enjoyable time on your Discover Nepal holiday and that Kiran provided such a wonderful experience. We cannot wait to welcome you on your next Explore adventure!

Trip was horribly managed by Explore

Trip was horribly managed by Explore, particularly at the start and finish and was redeemed only by the great guide and the other travellers. We complained to them by email 2 weeks ago and have yet to receive a reply.

Costa Rica Coast to Coast November/December 2023

This trip to Costa Rica was a bit disappointing from beginning to end, apart from the wildlife seen. The initial information was disappointing. The trip notes were vague and did not correspond to the guide's itinerary. Quite often what we expected in the way of tours did not materialise. We seemed to lurch from an expensive lunch to a pricey dinner most days. The guide had to be pressed to make the tour more flexible and active. We did not spend a lot of money to be satisfied hanging around a hotel. Accommodation was spacious but there were plumbing issues in most hotels/lodges. The wildlife was fantastic however, and we were lucky enough to see the creatures on most people's bucket list. Overall, the holiday was too expensive for the experience received.

Date of experience : 25 November 2023

Dear Muireall, Thank you for taking the time to review your Costa Rica – Coast to Coast holiday. We do apologise that you felt the holiday was not a good value. I have forwarded your comments on to the Product Manager for this holiday and she is speaking with our Local Ground Agent about the points you’ve raised. We are happy to hear that you found the wildlife to have been a highlight whilst on tour. Booking no problem BUT poor customer service after that

Booking no problem, but as others have reported on going customer service appears poor. I haven’t got an appropriate response to my query about a trip next month after 2 emails and 4 telephone calls. I am beginning to regret booking with Explore. Wish I had read these reviews prior to booking.I would certainly have gone elsewhere. I just hope this gets a response

Date of experience : 16 October 2023

Thank you for your comments and I am sorry it has taken a long time to respond to this. However, I understand that you received a response to your pre-tour queries, on 1st November. I hope are having a wonderful time in Vietnam, it's a beautiful country. Lisa, Explore Customer Relations

Inside Vietnam tour

We have just returned from the Inside Vietnam tour and had a great time. The tour was very well organised with visits to some very interesting sights, The hotel accommodation was very good especially the homestay on the Mekong Delta. We couldn't have asked for a better guide, Thin Ton, was very attentive and knowledgeable and had a great sense of humour. On the basis of this trip we would use Explore again.

Thank you so much for your review, Nigel. Please be assured we'll pass on your kind feedback to the Product team & your Explore Leader. We look forward to welcoming you back on your next adventure!

Classic Egypt Tour, a dream come true.

I have just returned home from Egypt where I had the most amazing experience coutsefy to Waleed, our Explore designated tour guide. The tour was very well organised and it exceeded my expectations in many ways, particualtly in terms of the amazing knowledge of Egyptian history shared by Waleed. He is an outstanding egiptologist and tour guide, very enlightened, funny, friendly and considerate. Thank you Explore and Waleed for making my biggest dream come true.

Date of experience : 24 December 2023

Thank you so much for your review! It is so nice to hear that Walid was such an excellent Explore Leader and that your holiday exceeded your expectations. We hope to have the chance to welcome you on another Explore adventure soon. Kind regards, Explore!

Avoid Explore if you can

I received final payment for my forthcoming booking but the telephone number given doesnt exist. I emailed twice and received no response. I went on website to see the site is down but to ring a number. The number given is unhelpful as cannot take payment. The price of the holiday has gone down but I have to pay the original price.... Wont be booking with them again and if you want to, book late and not early as you will be ripped off!

Walking in Crete

Had a brilliant time trekking through Crete. A beautiful and rugged Island with Geography that keeps you in awe. A really good bunch of people and a special mention for Peter, our tour leader who most of us felt went above and beyond when helping members out on what were at times really quite technical descents. His knowledge and sense of humour were excellent and his passion for Greek culture and history was contagious. Recommended.

Date of experience : 17 September 2022

This is lovely to hear Brian, thanks so much for taking the time to recommend our Walking in Crete trip!

Costa Rica Wildlife Tour

I don't usually write a review and I'm a well seasoned traveller who is happy to go with the flow but my Costa Rica wildlife holiday worst holiday ever - tour guide was in a bad mood most of the time and condescending - half the time he pointed things of interest out after we had passed them or you couldn't even see them. Accommodation was poor in most places and often no choice of where to eat - and expensive for what you got. Itinerary was definitely not accurate and misleading - very disappointed and a waste of money. I had previously posted this under Explore Trips.

Date of experience : 07 November 2023

Thank you for taking the time to review your Costa Rica Wildlife Tour, Roslyn. We do very much apologise for your experience with your Explore Leader and that you found the holiday underwhelming. I have forwarded your comments on to the Programme Manager for Costa Rica and she is currently speaking with our Local Ground Agent about the concerns you’ve raised. We once again thank you for your comments and review of your trip as it is invaluable to ensure we are offering unforgettable holiday experiences. Kind regards, Explore!

Malta & Gozo Walking

The walking and overall schedule was good. Some last-minute changes to the plan at the end of the week - that messed things up - which was a shame. Can't imagine doing the walking in the heat of the summer. Temperatures for us (Nov) - mid-20s deg C - perfect. Booking process and support from UK - very poor (sorry, Explore) - hence the 3 stars.

Date of experience : 04 November 2023

Thank you for your review. We are happy to hear that the walking and schedule overall were positives for you on your holiday. I am sorry to hear, however, that you felt the service you received during the booking process was poor and some last-minute changes to the itinerary marred your experience. We try to deliver great customer service throughout your engagement with us and I am sorry that we fell short of your expectations. We do once again thank you for your feedback as we constantly review the quality of our service and tours to ensure we are offering unforgettable experiences. Should you have any additional feedback you would like to share, please reach out to our Customer Relations team at [email protected]. Kind regards, Explore!

Exploring Turkey

Last month I travelled to Turkey with Explore and loved every minute of my adventure! Our guide was very knowledgeable, completely passionate and personable. This gave the group the right platform to bond well. The tour was a blend of authentic experiences, gastronomic delights and local encounters. I felt like I had a taste of true Turkey. This was my first time touring with Explore, and I’m already pouring over their tours, planning my next escapade! Thank you Explore; now where to next?!

Date of experience : 18 June 2023

Hi Clare, thank you so much for taking the time to post this, we're looking forward to welcoming you on your next Explore 'escapade'!

Japan is a wonderful country

Japan is a wonderful country. Easy to travel around as signage on public transport was in Japanese and English. Very helpful people; if they cannot answer your question they will try to find someone who could. Great value for money. Most cafe/restaurant menu’s were in Japanese so ordering food was an adventure in itself; however staff would go out of their way to help.

Why book with Us

- Unforgettable experiences You'll see a mix of famous sights and hidden gems that others miss, or don't even know about. As travelers, we want to experience a country, not merely observe it. We'll take you closer to the country, its culture and people, often in unscripted, spontaneous, impossible-to-replicate ways. You'll come home having seen and experienced the country in a way that other travelers might never have. - Expert local guides If you book a guided trip, like one of our small group tours, your guide or tour leader will use their expert insider knowledge and local connections to make the most of unexpected opportunities. You might be invited to watch the sunrise from a lighthouse or to join family Diwali celebrations. They'll be on hand to make sure your trip goes smoothly, taking care of logistics. Our tour leaders are all hand-picked and trained by our experienced team to ensure consistently high standards. - Small groups & private trips Our average group size is just 12 — big enough to meet like-minded people but small enough to get to the heart of a destination. All sorts of people travel on our trips — groups are usually a mix of solos, couples and friends united by an adventurous spirit and a sense of fun. Get in touch to learn more about the group already booked on a particular trip (age range, solos vs couples etc). If you’d prefer a more private experience, we also offer a large range of self-guided trips throughout Europe. - Accommodation We carefully select our accommodation to give you a comfortable night's sleep in the best possible locations. The places we stay are every bit as important as the sights we visit and the things we do. Wherever possible we choose small, local and family-run properties. Occasionally, when we want to get off the beaten tourist trail, we may stay in more basic accommodation. Choices are based on what’s available in the places we want to stay; we choose the accommodation to suit the itinerary, not the other way around.

“A tour spoilt by incompetence and complete indifference ”

written by Psbnycb on 27/08/2018

This company is truly hopeless. They charge a lot and do everything on the cheap. It’s been to visit Peru but the hotels are generally dumps, unclean and unsafe. Flights booked through Explore were cancelled and we were left to sort it all out. No help from these clowns All they would say is sort. It out yourselves. The tour was 3 days late when it started and now we have spent 2 days getting home because of yet more cancelled flights. Utterly indifferent and unable to orgnasise anything. The only saving grace was the tour guide but he can be booked through other more reputable agencies. DO NOT USE THIS TERRIBLE COMPANY

“Tour done on the cheap”

written by over120countries on 18/02/2017

My partner and I have just completed BUHB Burma Highlights + Ngapali Beach extension. There were only three people on this tour and luckily we had a great local tour leader. The itinerary was ok but everything was done on the cheap - cheap Chinese hotels, cheap boats (one of which broke down), etc. There was nothing of quality or any nice extras. The hotels were not centrally located and one very noisy (built over a major train station). Explore seems to be targetting older retired couples in their 60s, mainly Brits and north Americans. Their agent in Australia Cox & Kings is appalling - slow to respond and everything has to be referred to their London office. Better value and service can be found by using travel companies like Peregrine, Intrepid, GAdventures. We travelled with Explore in 1995 to Mongolia (good trip but terrible British tour leader) and at that time we said never again. But this time we really mean it NEVER AGAIN. We wish we had read the other reviews on this website before we booked.

Exploreworldwide's Response to over120countries's Review

I'm really saddened to read your comments about our Burma Highlights trip, over120countries. It's one of our best sellers, so we're keen to make sure the standards are being maintained. As I'm sure you're aware, the Chinese own most facilities in Burma - the boats and hotels included. We use the same boats as the locals and other tour operators, and all the hotels fit our 'standard' grade as explained in our trip description. I do take your point about the railway station hotel and this is something we're addressing locally - we have an agreement that our groups will be accommodated at the back of the building away from the noise, so I'm sorry this wasn't your experience. We're not discriminatory in our marketing and I'd like to assure you that we advertise across many platforms to encourage customers of all ages. While it's a shame you're unhappy with our agent in Australia, we're always happy to accept direct bookings so it's disappointing you won't be taking us up on this option and I wish you well in your future travels. “Once outstanding, now sadly run-of-the-mill”

written by Harry_Lime on 14/02/2017

I started traveling with Explore in 2002, and had fantastic trips all over the Middle East and SEAsia. Jordan, Syria, Iran, Egypt, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Burma - all excellent. Well planned, good tour leaders who knew their stuff, jam-packed itineraries - there was one really dreadful trip to Lebanon with a leader who pretty-much phoned it in, but I figured that was an aberration. However, a recent trip to Central America was frankly godawful. Frequent changes of hotels left us stranded in the middle of nowhere on more than one night, the tour leader who was otherwise great was happy enough to put the blame on the local agent, and when I wrote to Explore to complain I was offered $50 cash or $150 discount on a future trip. This is after 12+ trips with them. It's clear that they're not looking for adventure travelers anymore - they're now aiming at the "soft adventure" market. I would say that the rot really set in when they were acquired by Cox & Kings (who have since sold them to HotelPlan UK) in 2011. Talking off the record to their tour leaders (who, let's face it, constitute the backbone of the operation) I hear that they are pretty shoddily treated, often left out of pocket for weeks after expenses, and the good ones are mostly jumping ship for other companies. Unless and until Explore works out that there is still a strong market for people who want adventure, full days of activities and aren't expecting 5-star hotels, I'm shopping elsewhere. It's pretty clear that they're not interested in my kind of travel anymore - fortunately there are other companies that are. Sure, they're more expensive, but barreling along the Karakorum Highway in the back of a 4x4 with the top down comes at a price. That's what I want. If you don't want the kind of "adventure" that leaves you needing a holiday at the end of it, then maybe Explore is for you. It's a real shame - Explore used to be a great company, and I know many other people who have had great trips with them. Maybe Explore will improve since they were acquired by Hotelplan UK, but I have my doubts.

Exploreworldwide's Response to Harry_Lime's Review

Hi, I'm sorry to read that we're no longer the adventure travel company for you - especially after so many positive experiences. We work hard to make sure our trips are fresh and exciting - indeed the majority of the feedback we receive on our surveys and trip webpages says this is the case - so it's really disappointing it's not the same for you. In terms of your recent complaint, I'm unable to comment in detail without some more information about you and which trip you returned from so I can determine who you are, but I would like to say that we take a number of options into consideration when calculating compensation - including customer loyalty - so I'm sorry you were unhappy with our offer. I'd be glad to discuss things with you further if you'd drop me a line. Sam - Customer Relations Supervisor

“Cape Town to VIctoria Falls”

written by RamiroLeblanc492 on 30/11/2016

Explore Worldwide advertise this holiday as the trip of a lifetime. It ticked a lot of boxes: spectacular scenery, wonderful wildlife, good accommodation and good food. However, Explore cut a lot of corners on this trip. The tour leader doubled as the bus driver and cook and the assistant was newly trained and inexperienced i.e. not up to the task. The bus was a disaster. It was allegedly brand new bus as soon as it encountered rough terrain, it began to shake apart. The noise, vibration and dust ingress were intolerable and the agent in South Africa, Jenman (also to be avoided?)refused to replace the vehicle. For a tour duration of 25 days, we were subjected to these conditions for at least 15 of them, day after day. At one point, a fuel pipe fractured in the dessert miles from the nearest garage. The passengers were put at risk of skeletal damage and were stressed by the conditions. We complained, of course, but Explore have refused to offer more than 10% of the cost in compensation. A company called Exodus run very similar trips. Try them bvut check that the two companies are not related.

Hi, I understand that your group was particularly unhappy with the transport used during the trip – from the conditions you’ve described; this is certainly not to a standard that we expect. In line with this we offered a sincere apology with cash compensation or a voucher. Everyone else has chosen to take a voucher against a future booking. I feel this demonstrates that our customers are reassured that such issues are not the norm and are happy to travel with us again. I am sorry that we did not meet your expectations on this occasion. “Haven't started tour and now regretting”

written by clKennedy149 on 06/11/2016

As stated above, have not started tour and they are trying to rewrite contract. I have booked online from Australia, which means I can only communicate with UK agent, even though they supposedly have an Australian outlet!!! The tour provides airport pick up and end of tour transfers... but arrival transfer on same day do not work from Australia; therefore arranged and paid for my own as it was extremely cheaper than asking Explore to arrange. The initial " final tour documentation" I received stated If i was to qualify for end of tour transfer to airport( which needed to occur on the last day) I had to advise flight details. I provided details; coming from Australia my flights are at the end of the day. Within 48hrs of providing these details I recieved new "final tour documentaion" which now stated in "bold" I have to provide my flight details by a certain time frame... which surprise surprise is outside of the timeframe I provided. I have sent emails confirming that they are trying to rewrite agreed contracts. BEAWARE..... they do not provide a decent service to Australian Customers; though in reading other reviews it's just not Australian customers they provide a poor service to. Will provide further feedback after tour.

I’m sorry to hear that you’re unhappy with the service provided so far. Speaking in general terms, as we’ve been unable to identify you due to insufficient information provided in this review - I must firstly explain that although we do have an agent in Australia called ‘Tempo Holidays’, you have chosen to book with us directly, which means they’re unable to provide any assistance with your particular booking, as they won’t have any access to your details. When you come to book, you will receive a Passenger Information form, which asks you to provide such details as, your passport information, emergency contact and flight details. We do note on this form, as well as the information provided on our website, that your flight details should be provided no later than 14 days before the trip starts – this is to ensure that our agents on the ground are able to organise transfers for the appropriate times. We realise that although this information is provided in your documentation, the wording was not entirely clear for when it needed to be provided by – we have listened to our customer’s feedback and our documentation has now been updated. We’re sorry that you trip has not got off to the best start – we’d be happy to discuss this further on your return. Please contact our Customer Relations Team.

“Poor customer service, false advertising...avoid Explore.”

written by HelenaHicks424 on 11/03/2016

We recently travelled with Explore in Vietnam, cycle Saigon to Hanoi (CVIE) promoted as a 'moderate' cycling holiday. Unfortunately...this is NOT a cycling tour but rather a BUS journey (i.e. more than 40h bus over the length of the trip + 15h overnight train journey). Don't expect much cycling on this trip, every day we had to step on the bus and occasionally we'd get on our bikes. Explore could argue that the km travelled are clearly stated on their itinerary, which is sort of correct. However the time spent on a bus MUST be specified -I've recorded 40h+ of bus -some days we spent 8h on the bus with occasional toilet breaks at roadside tourist shops. The elevation indicated on the itinerary is not the elevation to be cycled but the elevation travelled on that day and most usually by bus. The itinerary could be better designed to deliver optimal cycling route. There were some fantastic downhills over the mountains, I was upset not to do by bike, and were told it to be too dangerous even though we noticed other cyclist groups doing the dropped by bus on top and cycle down. We did this entire leg on the bus and stopped at the "top gear" spot that seems to appeal to most UK tourists...a sad picture to reduce the beauty of Vietnam to this. The customer service at Explore has been unhelpful form the start, don't expect to speak to anyone other than when payment is due. The trip was classified as "moderate" but some people on our tour should have been travelling on a "easy" or "easy to moderate"...and this overall made us spend a lot of our time waiting. We would usually cycle 1 hour then wait 1 hour to "regroup". Regadrless of a bus at hand to pick-up cyclists when feeling tired, the guide seems powerless in setting a time limit as to when one should get on the bus...on multiple days we arrived after sunset at our hotel and had our 6am morning call to depart next day. Everyone travels at its own pace, but in this instance it has created much delays and meant that we had no time to discover the towns we stayed in. I recommend to Explore to provide further clarity as the pace one should expect to cycle on various trips. The average pace of the major part of our group was 20-22km/h on flat (excluding photo breaks), where some people were struggling to maintain 15km/h (excluding photo breaks). I have completed the Explore survey upon return and mentioned that 1) I would not book a holiday with Explore again, and 2) I would not recommend Explore to anyone. I have not heard back from Explore, hence I now provide public reviews online, as I imagine may trigger a little bit more interest.

Written on: 22/03/2016

Hi, We’re sorry to hear that you were unhappy with parts of the itinerary, due to the amount of travelling time. Firstly, I must explain that many of our cycling trips will travel from one area of a country to another to provide the best cycling routes and cultural experience. Some cycling trips like Cycle Saigon to Hanoi have overnight accommodation in major cities – so in order to get the best from your cycle experience, we will drive you out of the city, so that you can bike along the rural backroads of the country. This may mean that there are longer travelling times on some days. We do advise on the trip notes on what days you will be cycling and the total distance for that day. We also provide a map with a scale that makes it clear that you’ll be covering significant distances during the trip and with different methods of transport. We understand that you feel that the amount of time spent driving should also be written in the trip notes – we have passed your feedback on to our Operations Manager, who is currently reviewing this and will take your comments into consideration. We are always looking to improve our information about the trips we offer and feedback from our travellers is very important to us. We must also explain that we do have cycling trips that are graded as challenging and are designed for the more experienced cyclist. This particular trip is graded as moderate and suitable for people who have a reasonable level of fitness – this does mean that the pace can differ from group to group. We ask that our Explore Leaders use their own judgement to appropriately deal with the different levels of fitness within the group, but we do prefer for our customers to go at a pace they are comfortable with. We are sorry that you feel let down on this occasion and have reservations about booking with us again. We really appreciate your feedback, as this helps us to improve our trips and meet our customers’ expectations. You may want to look into our more challenging cycling trips, as they may be more suited to your expectations – but I do hope you will give us the opportunity to welcome you on another trip in the future. Please don't hesitate to call us and chat with one of our cycle experts for more information about any trip you may be interested in and we can talk through the cycling level and driving distances involved. Yours sincerely Sam, Customer Relations Supervisor, Explore

“Used to be excellent - not any more”

written by MikePeterson on 27/10/2015

I tried to book a holiday with Explore recently. I have used them many times before. I tried to find out flight times from them, because it's no use booking a holiday without knowing whether the flights are convenient. I asked over a week ago, with a follow up e-mail four days later. I still haven't had a reply. In the past couple of years their customer service has gone down the drain. They don't seem in the least bit interested in selling their holidays. Regretfully I'll have to book elsewhere. It's a shame, because they used to be such a good company.

Thank you for your feedback. We are genuinely very sorry that you experienced a delay in getting the information you needed to book. We're currently receiving an unprecedented level of calls and enquiries and this is impacting our response times. We appreciate that this is far from ideal and we're working hard to improve our turnaround times by recruiting additional Adventure Travel Consultants. “FIRST AND LAST TRIP WITH EXPLORE”

written by TiniChristine on 02/05/2015

Sicilian volcanoes was billed a walking trip but four of the seven nights were on Lipari, which has only a few short walks. Furthermore, our hotel was about 4 km from the main town. there was nothing to do in the vicinity of the hotel and the rooms were so cold I slept with my clothes on. I can only assume that the company decided to save money by booking a cheap hotel without any regard for customer experience. the local guide was absolutely wonderful.

Thank you for your review. I'm sorry that you were so disappointed with the Sicilian Volcanoes tour. Unfortunately, we can't identify your booking to investigate your comments more thoroughly. If you'd like to contact us directly, we'd be happy to look into your concerns in more detail. In the meantime, I've searched our records back to the beginning of 2014 and I'm pleased to say that we haven't received any other complaints about this tour. Further, the post-tour Customer Satisfaction Questionnaires and web reviews have all returned positive results. We do appreciate that your experience wasn't equally as positive, so we look forward to hearing from you directly.

“SHARKS I don't think so”

written by dianaparfitt on 15/01/2015

I read the review below calling Explore a bunch of sharks, what nonsense. I had a similar experience in that I made a payment to them and then they were unable to book me into I think one or two of the hotels on the trip. I booked late so I think I was taking a chance anyway. The Sales people rang me and explained in great detail why the accommodation was not available, they were very apologetic and very friendly and understanding, obviously highly trained as one would expect from this type of Tour Operator. I decided that I would not book onto another of their tours immediately and asked for a refund. I too had paid by credit card so was worried that I would need to pay the bill before the refund was posted to my account, completely unnecessarily as it turned out since the refund was there within 3 days. I can only think that the person posting the previous review hit problems with his bank or perhaps the timing of the transaction. I have since travelled with this company and find them no short of excellent. It’s easy to give negative reviews when one is miffed but I try to be constructive and understanding. I would recommend anyone to use this Tour Operator.

Richardha28's Response to dianaparfitt's Review

Terrible review. Please do make comments on your own experience but it's just rude and ignorant to gain say the opinions of others when you don't know exactly what they experienced. Doing that just calls into question the integrity of your own review and makes readers wonder what your true motivation is - for example are you or a close friend/relative an Explore employee?

“Great customer service! ”

written by swWest424 on 14/01/2015

I've booked several times with Explore and have always received fantastic customer service. Their team is very knowledgeable and polite to deal with. Likewise, Explore's Tour Leaders are fantastic and the tour itineraries include many off the beaten track destinations which you wouldn't be able to see or experience otherwise. I've never been anything but totally impressed by the level of care and service received. My friends and family are also now converted to Explore and wouldn't hesitate to book with them.

WORLWIDE TOOK A HUGE PAYMENT ON TRIP FROM ME FOR A TRIP IN ASIA. THEN INFORMED ME THAT THEY COULD NOT HONOUR THE BOOKING BECAUSE THERE WAS NO LONGER ANY HOTEL AVAILABILITY AND THEN TOOK WEEKS TO REFUND THE PAYMENT. IT FORCED ME TO MAKE THE CREDIT CARD PAYMENT AND WAIT TILL A LATER PERIOD TO GET THE REFUND. COMPLETELY UNREASONABLE. BE VERY CAUTIOUS DOING BUSINESS WITH WORLDWIDE. THEIR BUSINESS PRACTICES ARE SLEEZY.

“Once a great adventure company......but no more”

written by Daviesny183 on 28/11/2014

Have just finished Explore's ' Windward Isles and French Antilles' trip. This was our 17th trip with Explore and the least imaginitive. Firstly, the tour leader, a fairly dour Scot, had never been to the Carribean before, who claimed that a tour leader's sole job is to get his clients to the right hotels, ferry terminals and airports on time. He would not insult us with telling us what we could read in the guide book! The trip itself was very unimaginitive, and most of the excursions were 'optional' and therefore cost extra. When we booked the trip,we knew we had an extra night before going to a villa for an extra week and we were told the last hotel on the Explore trip was the La Haut' in Soufriere, the reviews of which sounded fantastic. We therefore asked Explore to book the extra night in that hotel at a cost of £111.A few days before our departure, we had not received any info on hotels and no confirmation of the extra night. i phoned Explore ,only to be told that we had been moved to the Downtown Hotel instead, and although it was a reasonable hotel, the advertised rate was less than £50 per night. After several phone calls and e mails, we finally got Explore to book the La Haut for the last night, and it was in a different league from the Downtown. Sadly, this seems to be typical of Explore today, what used to be a really good adventure company which cared about it's clients, now seems to be a money grabbing uncaringcompany hell bent on increasong their profits. I suspect this arrogance will cost them dearly soon.

Thank you for your feedback. We’re sorry you didn’t enjoy your trip. As you’re aware, your tour leader stepped in at very late notice to cover for a colleague who had to pull out at short notice. He has led tours all over the world for Explore, and is used to working with local guides and allowing them, as in this case, to share their knowledge of their countries. If our customers all thought this tour unimaginative, we wouldn’t still be running it! We make changes when customer feedback warrants this, but we don’t change what is popular. A trip like this appeals both to those who want plenty of free time, and those who want busier days, which is why there are optional excursions – so that customers can make their own decisions on how to spend their money. All optional activities are clearly indicated as such in our Tour Notes, with prices given. We recognise that we made administrative errors in booking your extra night’s hotel, and as you’re aware, we’ve apologised and offered compensation in relation to this. We like to think such mistakes are rare, but if we make them, we do everything we can to put matters right.

“Explore Terrible Customer Service”

written by andywhizz on 25/11/2014

I have been with Explore 10 times and my 1th trip with them to Brazil will be my last. On a recent Northern Lights tour to Iceland I was charge about £250 more for flights than all of my fellow passengers (same flight) and was given incorrect flight numbers by Explore leading to a stressful start to my holiday. I was advised by my Explore guides to contact the office onmy return. Eventually after an email and 2 phone calls I received a feeble response which did not justify the additional cost for the SAME flight and overlooked the fact that Explore provided incorrect flight numbers on all documentation. Good customer service is at the top of my list for companies that I use. Explore have lost their way; I have spoken to many regular travellers who used to travel with Explore who will do so no longer.

Exploreworldwide's Response to andywhizz's Review

Thank you for your feedback, I'm sorry that you were so disappointed with the response you received from us and the incorrect details provided in your documentation. We will always provide our customers with the best available flights at the time they come to book with us. Wherever possible, we aim to purchase flights in blocks of seats (allocations) which allow us to offer our customers the flights they want at competitive prices. As it gets closer to the travel date, any unsold seats are returned to the airlines for general sale. Any customers booking after this point will be subject to the airline prices available at that point - which unfortunately, are often higher than the initial allocation costs.

“Customer service makes Ryanair look like saints”

written by Hackedoff100 on 23/10/2014

Buyers beware. I recently went to Bhutan and on our first night 4 of us who had all booked single rooms found we were all expected to share. Explore took no responsibility at all. In fact all they did was blame us and hid behind the terms and conditions get out clause. Their arrogance has been astounding. In the end we discovered we had paid £145 each for single rooms for 3 nights in Kathmandu. In a hotel where it was cheaper to stay as a single than sharing.

“If you want your hols - don't use Explore! ”

written by on 10/08/2014

Absolutely appalling customer service is all I can say about this company. I booked my holiday over a month ago and paid the full amount on booking. Having not received my travel details two days before the scheduled departure date, I rang up Explore, only to be informed at that point that my trip had been cancelled. Explore cancelled my booking for over two weeks before I rang up, yet nobody had the decency or courtesy to ring me or send me an e-mail to inform me about the cancellation. By then, I had scheduled my work leave, booked my train to Gatwick, done all my shopping for the trip and was all packed and ready to go, so you can imagine the stress and disappointment when I found out about the cancellation. This was then followed by days of very stressful back and forth with the company, which resulted in a couple of "remedies". First was a £100 Explore! voucher, which I plainly rejected on the basis that I doubt I will ever book another holiday Explore again. They also rather disingenuously offer to "reimburse" me for the shopping I have done if I return all my shopping to them, not at all taking into account the fact that I have spent alot of time choosing these items and have purchased them during the summer sale, which means that if I ever want to repurchase them, I will have to shell out significantly more than what I originally paid for. Finally, if you want to speak to anyone from the company, be prepared to have a lot of patience and time in your hands. It takes at least 20 minutes of waiting before you can get through to anyone and at least 2 days before any general enquiry e-mails are responded to. So, overall, if you want your holiday or, at the very least, be treated like a human, don't use Explore!

Written on: 01/10/2014

Thank you for your feedback. We’re very sorry that you were so unhappy with the service you received from us. We have recently implemented a new booking system, which initially had an impact on both call times and internal administration. This is certainly not an excuse however for the late notification you received. We have taken appropriate action and put procedures in place to prevent a reoccurrence.

“What has happened to Explore?”

written by Hilarious52 on 23/07/2014

Like a number of other people here, I have travelled with Explore many times - 16 I think. Some trips have been excellent (Pure Brazil, Bangladesh/Sikkim/Bhutan), some average (Costa Rica, Uganda for gorillas). My real beef with them now is the poor customer service and lack of knowledge at the booking stage. I would have liked to travel with them to Vietnam this Autumn but the sales office staff seemed curt and knew so little about their tours that I gave up and booked with The Adventure Company - who have never disappointed. My next enquiry was about Myanmar - same thing so I m going with Undiscovered Destinations. This week I thought I was going with them to Malawi in August, but it seems not as they omitted my details when advising local representatives of tour composition and somehow didn't get round to confirming my flights. Happily I hadn't t parted with any money! I don't comprehend how they have been nominated for a customer service award - perhaps they were the only nominees or it was an in-house survey. So it's independent travel to Malawi for me, hoping to sort something out on arrival. Explore seem to have lost their way, sadly.

Exploreworldwide's Response to Hilarious52's Review

Thank you for taking the time to leave us feedback. We’re sorry that you feel there has been a recent decline in our standards. Our staff receive considerable training on the trips we offer, and there’s usually at least one person in the office who’s done each tour and will be happy to talk to you about it. If you are interested in a particular trip, if you e-mail us with your details and the trips you’re interested in, we’ll always be able to get one of our experts in that region to give you a call.

“Sea Trek 28-August-2013-ended in County Court action.”

written by on 12/05/2014

I have traveled over 10 times with Explore Worldwide Ltd and get their so called 10% loyalty customer discount,so I am aware of what to expect when things go according to plan,it's when they don't and it all goes horribly wrong........ I recently traveled on the above trip with Explore which was a nightmare. There were problems with the boat from the start which was not seaworthy, and should never have left port as severe trouble with the engine started to show on day 2 of the trip though it became obvious the problem had existed from the start. The boat eventually broke down completely, and we were marooned in Flores,Indonesia, and were eventually flown back to Bali. Explore failed to use due diligence and to have adequate checks in place with their contractor Sea Trek who were reckless and endangered the lives of the guests and crew. Explore offered a goodwill cash refund of £400.00 I informed them that they were treating me like a fool.Explore's head of Customer Relations is totally intransigent, and appears particularly unsuited to her position, and should never represent Explore in Court as they had no defense which the Judge made abundantly clear. I took Explore Worldwide to the County Court and was awarded the full cost of the holiday, plus costs, interest, and expenses of £4798.69 on the 30-April-2014.The Judge in summing up was totally critical of Explore's actions, and lack of them, and their abysmal attitude towards customer safety. If you value your life travel with a responsible operator, who takes your personal safety seriously.

“Introduction to Romania”

written by Arabellafantasia on 20/08/2013

This was the most amazing trip if you want to see many different regions. Three of us booked (one 60+ two 30+) and after an extremely good flight with Tarom we were met by our Guide and bus driver. Middle of August, lovely weather. We covered some of the Saxon lands, Maramaures, and the Delta. Extremely well looked after wherever we went, good fellow travellers and a/c on bus and accommodation. The food was delicious, lots of fruit and veggies and plenty of beer and wine, all at half the cost we would pay at home. Good challenging walks in the mountains. Can't wait to go again.

“Canadian Rockies Trip”

written by on 25/06/2013

My husband and I have just returned from a trip to the Canadian Rockies. This was my first time with Explore and my husbands third. The tour guide,Jo, was great with extensive local knowledge. The pace of the tour was reasonable and all the hotels or motels were very clean and comfortable. Some of the walking treks had to be altered because Canada was experiencing a late Spring and there was still some snow about in June. The trade off was lots of sightings of grizzly bears and black bears as they were down off the mountains looking for their favourite food, dandelions. I would recommend this trip to anyone. Already looking at the Explore brochure for my next trip

9 Best Travel Companies for Walking Tours and Hiking Tours in 2024

Enjoy some of the world's most beautiful landscapes at the speed of your own two feet..

Beth Luberecki

Review: EF Go Ahead’s Food & Wine: Piedmont & Tuscany with America’s Test Kitchen

There’s something extra special about seeing someplace on foot the way you do on a walking tour, hiking tour, or guided trek. Maybe it’s the slower pace and the ability to actually admire sights you might just zip by in a car, bus, or train. Maybe it’s the easy opportunity for connections and conversations with local people. Or maybe it’s being out in the fresh air, enjoying and appreciating the natural setting of the location you’re visiting.

It’s probably some combination of all three that make walking tours, trekking tours, and hiking tours a popular way to travel. Whether you prefer an easygoing amble, a moderate hike, or a challenging summit, there are some great foot-fueled tours from hiking tour companies that explore famous locales and off-the-beaten-path spots all over the world. Here are my picks for the nine best travel companies offering walking tours and guided hiking trips.

All participants on the trips are between 25-39, and according to the company, 80 percent are solo travelers—so you’ll make friends fast. Hoping to meet someone who will be more than just a friend on your next trip? Trips include a balanced number of “gal and guy spots” to ensure an even balance of genders within groups (and of course, non-binary genders are always welcome).

For the Love of Travel offers weeklong (or longer) international trips as well as shorter weekender trips to nearby destinations like Mexico or Denver—perfect for people without a lot of vacation time.

Middle School Field Trip

Bamboozled. I want half of my money back. Had the maturity level and professionalism of a middle school field trip. Over hyped, over sold, and overcharged. You do not get your money's worth. Never using Expat again and they absolutely ruined bus/group tours for me. I was just more lucky the bus was not full. Full bus would have been an immediate no and dispute. First, they are overcharging. Did my homework on that one. Most of the hotels are absolutely the low end. One, I actually had a shower flood the room, and Expat attempted to ignore the complaint. Once they have your money and you are on the bus, the professionalism and response goes right in the gutter. One hotel, the entire bathroom was literally in a clothing closet. What is worse, is the tour guide will try to repeatedly sell you on low quality is normal, using the old "you are lucky to be here." Which was extremely unprofessional. A lot of European Apologist was used and guilt tripping for the high charging and low delivery. They really need to break trips into age groups, because we had serious maturity issues. Age 30 and below and 30 and above. They may need to do 40 and above. They try to force you to use What's App and Facebook for information, which was very unprofessional as some of us do not like those apps, citing privacy issues. Many of the meals are forced social gatherings (due to logistics and planning) and if you don't really like the people or have nothing in common with them, it's not good and really awkward. At day 6, I was already singing Sloop John B. Some of the "exciting" events they take you to are quick and cheap setups just to buy from their personal friends. They spent way too much time in Italy, when someone like my self wanted to take time to see other things. But they don't tell you the timing and planning ahead of time, so you don't know. Whoever made the plan was obsessed with Italy. Not exactly Expat's fault, but Western Europe is way behind and fairly boring. It's just a giant tourist trap. Pro Tips: You can pay less and see the same using a cruise, while travelling in way more comfort with more options and more things you decide on. Obviously you can't go more inland like a bus, but you are not missing anything. If you want to go inland it is cheaper and you get more options with a rail pass, again, comfort will be better and you will not be stuck with professionalism and maturity issues and you won't be stuck or subject to people you don't really like. Skip Expat and bus/group tours. Use a cruise or European rail pass. ::Edit:: To reply below, very funny. Absolutely no acknowledgement of the failures and placing the blame on the customer. Hmmm, sounds familiar. If you fail, just blame the customer! Exactly what was going on during the trip. And as you see, they proved my review correct. Hype high, deliver low. Then blame the customer. Thanks for proving me correct, Expat. And no, Expat, I did my homework, you are overcharging. Hyping high, delivering low, to maximize profit and the customer does not matter. Has nothing to do with value for the customer.

Reply from Expat Explore Travel

We are sincerely sorry to hear about your disappointing experience during your recent tour with us. It deeply saddens us to learn that we did not meet your expectations. One of our pride points is that our tours are affordable, and as such, all our tours are jam-packed and fast-paced in order to allow the most experiences for your money. We are open about the fact that we book 2-4* hotels further from the city centre but always close to public transport so we can keep our prices low and pass this saving on to our travellers. While we understand that this is not for everybody, we want all of our travellers to experience all Europe has to offer at an affordable rate. When booking a coach tour with Expat Explore, it is important to understand that you are booking a group coach tour. This means that you will be in a group with people of all different ages, nationalities, and personalities and will be sharing meals and experiences together. This is a part of the group travel dynamic that most travellers cherish as it is an opportunity to learn from strangers and make new friends. We understand that every traveller has different preferences and needs, and we regret that we were unable to meet yours on this occasion. While we value your feedback and will use it constructively to enhance our services in the future, it seems that your preferred mode of travel does not really align with group coach travel and our brand. If there's anything else you would like to discuss or if you have any further feedback to share, please don't hesitate to reach out to us directly.

Spent 10 AMAZING days with EXPAT Explore Travel

Spent 10 AMAZING days with Gustavo on the European Highlights Tour - All the details were taken care of ... we were sooo well taken care of ... Our group was a fantastic mix of Americans, Canadians, Australians and everyone else in between. The accommodations were excellent, the meals were great but without a doubt it was our guide Gustavo who made the trip INCREDIBLE ... Hopefully we will get a chance to tour with EXPAT and Gustavo again ..

Taste of Europe with Expat Explore 2022

Taste of Europe with Expat Explore 2022 Our journey with EXPAT Explore on their Europe Taster trip during the summer of 2022 was a memorable experience. This tour allowed us to delve into six different countries, each presenting its unique charm fitting the ‘taster’ theme of the trip. Our tour guide, Gustavo, was a notable aspect of our experience. His knowledge and enthusiasm added a great deal of value to our trip. The trip was well organized featuring a mix of iconic landmarks. The choice of destinations and activities provided a glimpse into each country, ideal for those experiencing these European regions for the first time. One aspect of the trip that could be improved is the long ferry ride across the English Channel from UK to France. Although it was an interesting experience, the time spent on the ferry felt somewhat prolonged, taking up a considerable portion of the day. The Europe Taster trip with EXPAT Explore was an enjoyable experience. I would certainly recommend it to anyone eager to explore Europe for the first time.

We did the jewel tour last december to the 4th if January 2024. Me and my wife ana together with my daughter alyssa and hubby tom. And i say it was a winderful trip to remember. The cities we went through wer all amazing. Plus to experience that with our beloved tour guide gustavo and the skills of sebastiano who drove the bus the entire trip with ease. Winderful tour guide snd bus driver cannot compare them. the best.. we love doing it again in the near future❤️❤️

Expat Explore Italy Rail Tour 10/10!

For our second trip with Expat Explore, we booked the Italy Rail tour and let me tell you, rail is the way to travel! The itinerary is jam packed, you are constantly on the move on foot and on and off both public transit and regional trains. You need to be prepared to move and lift your luggage (pack light!) but we quickly bonded with our fellow travelers and everyone helped everyone. The first day was a whirlwind, flying in and diving right into a walking tour on the same day, so next time we will be sure to fly in one day early. Hotels were good - some are a little dated, but you aren't there to hang out in the hotel. 10/10 recommend Expat 10/10 recommend the rail tours 10/10 loved our tour leader, Firo

Great tours, great company!

So far I've joined their tours in Egypt and South Africa, both were fantastic tours complimented by great team work between professional tour leaders and drivers. In terms of the pre tour experience the customer service team were always quick to respond and made me feel like a valued passenger.

Italian Delight 10/10 - June 2022

The tour was amazing, and we saw so many beautiful places. The optional excursions were all great. Firo was an awesome tour leader, and he made everything so much fun and shared all his knowledge. And the fact that he can speak Italian was great. Always felt safe on the coach, which was comfy and Firo even organised wifi for the coach. The tour details as advertised is exactly what you get and the hotels were all great. Some had small rooms, but all you need is a bed and bathroom to rest. The tours are affordable and well organised. Doing my 3rd tour now in October - Taste of Eastern Europe. Will be great of Firo will be our tour leader again. Mr Cool 🍌.

Incredible Countries in Croatia and Eastern Countries…

I really enjoyed our Tour with Expat Explore. Our Tour Leader , Dee our Driver, Gabor and our coach, the other travellers and the places we visited were suberb. Most of the hotels were pretty good except for Bento Inn Messe ( too far to train stn, airport, no a/c, nothing around such as cafes, shops etc), Some of the days were just far too long whilst the Tour Town Guides were lovely and passionate about their history they went for too long and did not leave time to browse. Mostar was ridiculously busy and then left not much time for Sarejevo to brose and they looked incredible. Before I could recommend it to others I would have to know if they liked such a fast paced tour

Best trips of our lives! Classic Europe and Best of UK & Ireland

We’ve done 2 tours with Expat. Our 1st one was Classic Europe to 7 counties in 12 days. We had a group of 8 with ages between 21 and 70. Our tour guide Luke was the best! He made sure we learned a few phrases for each Country and gave us safety tips for each area, It was a trip that our family will cherish forever! Luke was super funny and had facts/trivia about almost every topic. I recommend doing a majority of the excursions too. They are worth it! Our 2nd excursion was just my hubby and I to Best Of UK & Ireland. We had a blast and decided to go on this trip because Luke was the tour guide again. Another spectacular trip! We will do another trip probably next year w Expat!

Thank you for leaving us a 5-star review and for being a loyal returning traveler! We are overjoyed to hear that Luke provided enriching and informative tour experiences. We are also delighted to know that you will continue to explore the world with Expat Explore as your preferred partner to make travel possible.

A definite taster - Europe Highlights

Overall Itinerary - a definite taster, spending only a few hours in some of the locations.; Accommodation - mostly great; Meals - a surprise treat, many of the places we went to are inclusive of dinner meals; Optional Excursions - heavy on the pocket but an experience one must take; Tour Leader - an absolute star, Firo! A great companion indeed; Driver - the best, Florentin!; Included experiences (like walking tours) - not for the slow-walkers; Pre-tour Customer Service - punctual.
