Exotic Zoo, Telford Christmas 2023

This one is a real local for us in Telford. Around 4 years ago, our local ‘Animal Man’ set up camp in an independent garden centre. Following acquisition of their Zoo License, the small Zoo has grown in size and stature over the past year and is now an excellent little day out. Father Christmas takes up residence in their Igloo and children encounter several real animals before meeting the man himself. With a chance to see some old favourites such as Little the Donkey and Dodger the horse along with some more exotic creatures such as Elsa and Rosie the snakes, the children get a fabulous experience and lots of opportunity for hands on too! There is a small café in the garden centre that serves excellent tea and cake and the children have a gift included in their Father Christmas visit too.

Santa Hunts are making a welcome return with a brand new storyline for 2023. This year, Santa has decided to have a little festive fun and has hidden somewhere in our canalside village – the elves need your help to solve the clues and find him!

Climb aboard our vintage bus to explore the village and seek out Santa Claus. Join in the yuletide spirit, take part in our festive tasks and help our jolly historic characters prepare for Christmas. Don’t forget to pop into our Edwardian school to write up your special secret wish too, all before meeting the big man himself!

Be ready for our Christmas VIP as Santa will ensure to meet each child individually for a chat and of course, they will receive a Christmas gift. Santa isn’t camera shy, so you are welcome to take a photo or ask our helpful elves to take one for you.

Plus, in true Christmas spirit we haven’t forgotten about the grown-ups, who will receive a voucher for a complimentary mulled wine or non-alcoholic drink and a mince pie.

Although we recognise that Christmas is a magical time for those of all ages, we recommend this event to those aged 3+.

Santa’s Grotto is one of our most exciting festive experiences at Dobbies and this year we’ve made it even more interactive!

Enter the snowy forest where our elf will guide you past the reindeer and rabbits as you walk towards Santa’s toyshop. Along the way you can help the elves with various tasks including helping to pack the toys in the sleigh for Santa.

Then you’ll meet Santa himself where you can tell him all about your adventures before receiving a special gift.

The Polar Express 2023

Our experience took place at Telford Steam Railway and without a doubt, this has to be the BEST Father Christmas experience we have had over the last few years! Booking tends to get filled up around 6 months before hand at The Telford Steam Railway but I did notice that other stations are coming on board (for example Moor Street in Birmingham who at the time of writing this, still had tickets available!). It all begins with the obligatory dressing in pyjamas and dressing gowns (with extra layers if it is cold!) and arrival at the station where you see part of the story played out by actors…As in the story, the train arrives with the Conductor who calls for anyone who wants to get aboard. If you have your ticket, you can get on the train! With hot chocolate and cookies served by dancing waiters and waitresses, the journey is exciting and festive and with a visit from Father Christmas who presents that all important bell, it was an experience that I think will stay with us forever!

Winter Glow Unveils the West Midland’s Ultimate Santa Experience with Brand-New Immersive Winter Village

Winter Glow , a multi-attraction Christmas event based at Three Counties Showground , Malvern, has announced the details of their magical new immersive Santa experience, launching on 25 November and running until 24 December 2022. The personalised adventure will be set in a life-size Winter Village which is 2000m², with festive activities for all the family to complete, along the help of Santa’s Elves and Mrs Claus.

The spell binding grotto adventure promises to be full of fantastical experiences and festive surprises, and begins when families receive a personalised invitation in the post from Father Christmas himself, inviting them to the North Pole to visit him and his Elves.

Families will be transported to a festive wonderland as they arrive at Winter Glow’s handcrafted Winter Village. They will be greeted by Santa’s Head Elf, Jingle who has some cheeky challenges for them to complete before making their special journey through the winding buildings to Santa’s Toy Workshop. How many Christmas characters will they encounter on the way?

On arrival to the workshop, which is full to the brim with authentic sights, sounds and smells, visitors will once again by greeted by Elves and invited to explore their magical surroundings. Each family will be called one by one for their special appointment to meet Santa in his cosy grotto. Prepare for children to be astonished as Father Christmas asks them personalised questions about their hobbies, achievements and favourite moments of 2022. After all, he is always watching! Each child will then be presented with a special gift, hand-picked by Santa, along with an official certificate to confirm their place on the Nice List.

The experience doesn’t stop there! After their visit with the big man, families will be invited to Mrs Claus’ Bakery where each child will decorate their own Christmas biscuit, before heading back into the Winter Village through the The Old Sweet Shoppe and North Pole Letter Box, to enjoy a selection of festive street performers and the magical atmosphere that follows them. Stay and play for as long as you like!

Jingle the Head Elf added: “All of my elves are busy in the toy workshop and are so excited about meeting everyone in our festive Winter Village at Winter Glow this Christmas. We will be leaving the North Pole in mid-November, to make the long journey to Worcestershire and can’t wait to sprinkle our Christmas magic.”

Winter Glow invites you to embrace all things seasonal, with an impressive line-up of activities and excitement on offer this Christmas. Along with the Personalised Santa Experience, visitors can also take part in a newly themed Light Trail ‘A Christmas Odyssey’, ride a 120ft Observation Wheel, skate on the Indoor Ice Rink, and browse Winter Glow’s brand-new Christmas Market, which will feature a selection of local traders, crafters and artisans. A Food Quarter, Ice Cafe and Bavarian-style bar will also be in place for visitors to refuel after a busy day of festive fun.

SAFARI PARK'S MAGICAL CHRISTMAS EVENT IS BACK

From 25 November and running daily until Christmas Eve, guests will have the chance to see Santa during the day, or on selected dates, visit Santa in his grotto during the evening’s Lantern Festival event.

Ahead of the month-long celebration, Santa had a good look around the Park’s Discovery Trail, which has been transformed into a winter wonderland, with over 400 Christmas trees, lights, baubles, new photo points and even thick layers of ‘snow’.

Additionally, the Park has installed two amazing winter lantern scenes, which look incredible during the day, but really come to life when the sun sets.

Bethan Davis, PR & Events Officer, said, “We are so excited to welcome guests to this year’s Santa Safari, as the Park has never looked this magical. Our team of ‘elves’ have been working really hard to make sure everything is perfect for Santa’s arrival, with not a garland, tree or bauble out of place!

“This year, we’ve installed a whole host of brand-new features, including a gigantic Christmas tree, two photo points for children, animated characters in the grotto and our outdoor sleigh has been transformed. Children will be able to experience falling ‘snow’ and write a letter to Santa too, which they can post in our cheeky talking post-box. Santa has given everything his seal of approval, so has now retired to his cosy grotto, ready to meet families from Friday. We hope everyone has a magical and festive time with us.”

Guests to the grotto will be greeted by Santa’s team of friendly elves who will magically transport families to the North Pole on Santa’s sleigh, captained by a new welcoming owl.

Disembarking the sleigh, they will follow a path through a magical winter wonderland, busy elf workshop and reindeer stables, finally reaching the grotto to pay a visit to the big man himself.

Children will receive a memento of their day by having a picture taken of themselves with Santa which they can then take home, alongside being able to choose their very own present from the elves’ workshop.

Also included in the package is a visit to Mrs Claus’ Kitchen, where children can enjoy a drink and cookie, whilst adults are treated to a hot drink and mince pie.

There is also the chance for guests to win a Family Annual Pass, by entering the ‘Letters to Santa’ competition, where children can write a letter to Santa and post it in his magical talking post box.

Additionally, guests visiting this winter can experience a virtual reality sleigh ride – a magical 4D adventure to the North Pole, helping Santa to test out his sleigh before his big journey on Christmas Eve.

As Santa Safari coincides with the Park’s Lantern Festival event, a variety of ticketing options are available, including an evening ticket which includes lanterns and an ‘Ultimate Winter Ticket’, which includes a day visit to Santa Safari, all the animal attractions, talks and shows, then Lantern Festival on the evening.

Santa Safari runs from 25 November until Christmas Eve, and the charge is £33.00 for adults and children aged 3-64, £13.00 for under 3s and £30.00 for concessions. Adventure Theme Park rides are not open during the winter season.

The countdown to Christmas is officially on in Birmingham! The German Christmas Market is open alongside Ice Skate Birmingham and the Big Wheel.

Winter Funland is bringing the UK's biggest indoor fairground to Birmingham NEC and Polar Express is back at Moor Street Station. There's a Snow Village at the Snowdome and a Santa Safari at West Midland Safari Park.

Weekend tickets tend to sell out fast, as do tickets for the final week leading up to Christmas Day, so it's best to book in advance to avoid disappointment. We'll keep updating this guide as more events are revealed in the run-up to the big day.

Ice Skate Birmingham, Big Wheel and German Christmas Market

Ice Skate Birmingham is now open for Christmas alongside the 40m Big Wheel in Centenary Square . There are lights and festive music plus it's all under cover so you can skate come rain or shine.

And the attractions will be open in the city every day from 10am to 10pm (except Christmas Day) right through to Sunday January 8, 2023. Ice skating tickets start from £13 for adults and £11 for children. Find out more and book tickets here

Winter Funland at the NEC

Winter Funland is transforming 25,000 square ft of Birmingham NEC Arena into an enormous festive wonderland - including the UK's largest indoor funfair. There will be a gigantic ice-skating rink , a 2,000 seater Christmas extravaganza circus show, a full-size fairground and a Santa’s Grotto.

This means there's lots to do for all the family all in one place and indoors, so it can't be affected by the weather. Winter Funland runs from Saturday, December 10, to Monday, January 2. Daytime and early evening sessions are available. Find out more and book tickets here .

Polar Express Birmingham

Vintage Trains is bringing back the Polar Express to Birmingham Moor Street Station this Christmas. Get ready for a theatrical re-enactment of the hit movie where the whole family can be immersed in the sights and sounds of the magical festive favourite.

Many people dress in pyjamas and onesies, hats and dressing gowns ready to board their heritage carriage pulled by a real steam engine. Passengers are transported to the North Pole (via Tyseley!) to see if they can get to see Santa. In the past, the event has been so popular that many of the weekend tickets have sold out in no time.

Winter Light Trail at Birmingham Botanical Gardens

A Winter Light Trail complete with dancing fairies, toasted marshmallows and tens of thousands of lights is taking place this Christmas at Birmingham Botanical Gardens . Families will be able to follow the 1.4km long Luminate Trail as it meanders around the Edgbaston venue with festive treats along the way.

Luminate Birmingham will run nightly from Saturday, November 26, 2022 right through to Monday, January 2 (closed on Christmas Day). Tickets start from £15 for adults and £11 for children, or you can buy a family ticket for £48. Prices vary depending on the date / time slot you book. Pre-booking is essential. Dick Whittington panto at Birmingham Hippodrome

The Birmingham Hippodrome pantomime is back for 2022 with an all-star line-up. Panto favourite Matt Slack is back for a record-breaking ninth consecutive year, with Dick Whittington marking his 20th pantomime.

He will play the title role of Dick Whittington along with Wet Wet Wet singer Marti Pellow as The Ratman and panto star Andrew Ryan as The Dame. Look out for Black Country comic Doreen Tipton as The Cat, former Hear'say singer Suzanne Shaw as Alice and CBeebies star Dr Ranj as the Spirit of the Bell.

Christmas Celebration Weekends at Cadbury World

The good news at Cadbury World is that there's no additional charge to see Santa. Whilst this is not a traditional grotto, there is a chance to see Father Christmas in his own stage show.

The show is full of festive fun and music for all the family and Santa's elves hand out gifts to children. There's also a new panto and for 2022 it is Cinderella. With 10 shows a day, you'll have plenty of opportunities to join in the fun as part of your day at the Bournville attraction. Runs on weekends and in the school holidays from November 19 to December 23.

Steam in Lights and Santa Trains at Severn Valley Railway

Severn Valley Railway has lots of festive treats in store this year. The Enchanted Express is back after its sell-out debut, steaming from Bridgnorth - don't forget to pack your pyjamas!

Inspired by the classic poem ‘Twas The Night Before Christmas, Dame Julie Walters returns as narrator, with her voice accompanying you throughout your heritage steam train journey as you meet five Christmas characters on the train, including Santa, and receive a hand-painted book.

There's also Steam in Lights which will take passengers on 'on a journey around the world' full of light and music from Bridgnorth Station. Read our review here

Specially decorated Santa Trains will travel along the line between Kidderminster and Arley, where they stop off so passengers can see Father Christmas and his elves in an all-new pantomime. And there are Carol Trains from Kidderminster to The Engine House at Highley offering live entertainment from local choirs and bands too.

NATIVITY! The Musical is returning to Birmingham Rep this Christmas. Get ready for some MAYHEM in Bethlehem! Expect feel-good fun based on the film Nativity! , written and directed by Debbie Isitt.

Santa Safari at West Midland Safari Park

You can combine the four-mile winter Safari with a visit to Santa in his grotto at West Midland Safari Park . From November 25 to December 24, the Worcestershire attraction's Discovery Trail will be dressed for the festive season with snow flurries, lights and Christmas music galore.

You get an allocated time to see Santa and will be greeted by one of his elves who will show you to the sleigh where you will be magically transported to the North Pole and into Santa’s Grotto. In this traditional log cabin experience, you get to talk to Santa about your festive wishes and have your photo taken with the man himself.

Santa's Winter Wonderland at The Snowdome

Santa’s back in his Winter Wonderland at the SnowDome for Christmas 2022. Expect real snow and real animals in a festive adventure for all the family. Visit Santa's house, write him a letter and ride on a carousel.

This year there's an all new Santa Show plus you can play and slide around in Santa’s Christmas Snow Trail. The trail features snow slides, fun displays and falling snow! Take a walk through the 'enchanted forest', enjoy a fun game of snowballs, hitch a ride on a sledge and have fun sliding about in the snow tubes.

Winter Glow in Malvern

There are going to be five festive experiences to discover at the Three Counties Showground this Christmas as part of Winter Glow. You can build your own Christmas adventure by booking the activities you'd like to take part in.

You can ride in a private gondola on a 120ft Giant Observation Wheel enjoying sparkling views over the Malvern Hills. There's a Light Trail and ice skating too.

And there's also the Santa Experience where Santa sends you a letter inviting you on a journey through the Winter Village. Here you get to visit the Elves’ Toyshop, decorate biscuits in Mrs Claus’ Bakery and view the delights of the Ol’ Sweet Shoppe before meeting Santa in a personalised grotto experience where children receive a special gift.

ELF: A Christmas Spectacular at Resorts World Arena

ELF is being supersized this Christmas as the blockbuster movie is turned into a live arena spectacular with a massive stage featuring huge LED film backdrops. Look out for an audience snowball fight, an indoor snowstorm and aerial cirque stars.

And Santa's flying sleigh will feature too plus a giant candy cane journey from the North Pole. There will be a mobile stage that travels the auditorium so everyone gets a close-up view of the action.

Christmas at Warwick Castle

Expect twinkling trees, decorations and 'festive flourishes at every turn' at Christmas at the Castle 2022. You can go ice skating on an open air rink with the castle as a backdrop.

There's chance to enjoy stories with Santa and Mrs Claus as you snuggle up and listen to a special tale of Christmas hope and joy. After dark, you can go on a magical illuminated light trail through the historic grounds and gardens. And there's even a chance to sleep overnight in the Knight's Village. Read our review here

Lightopia Seasonal Wonderland is returning to Alton Towers for Christmas 2022. This magical and immersive light and lantern trail is a walkthrough after dark interactive experience around the theme park.

There's a 'glittering grotto' where you can meet Santa and his elves to tell them what's on your Christmas lists before being given a gift to take home. Whilst there, you can also meet more than 2,000 creatures including sharks, gentoo penguins and the UK’s first and only sea otters, Ozzy and Ola.

The Enchanted Gardens at Webbs of Wychbold

The Enchanted Gardens are back at Webbs with a fairy-lit trail full of fairy tales - and organisers are promising different stories to last year. The Worcestershire attraction featured a rainbow bridge into a hidden wood filled with dramatic lighting set amongst the trees last year.

With music playing in the background, families walked on a path alongside the river to reach a glowing gingerbread house then walk over the fairy-light bridge. Drayton Manor's Magical Christmas

There's a chance to meet Santa at Drayton Manor's Magical Christmas. Experience all the fun of more than 25 rides in Thomas Land plus singalong shows and lots of entertainment.

Winter Glow , a multi-attraction Christmas event based at Three Counties Showground, Malvern, has announced the details of their magical new immersive Santa experience, launching on 25 th November and running until 24 th December 2022. The personalised adventure will be set in a life-size Winter Village which is 2000m 2 , with festive activities for all the family to complete, along the help of Santa’s Elves and Mrs Claus.

Jingle the Head Elf added: “ All of my elves are busy in the toy workshop and are so excited about meeting everyone in our festive Winter Village at Winter Glow this Christmas. We will be leaving the North Pole in mid-November, to make the long journey to Worcestershire and can’t wait to sprinkle our Christmas magic.”

For those who want to continue the festivities after Christmas and into the New Year, Birmingham’s famous ice rink and big wheel are on hand to help you just do that. Each year the Christmas Market seems to get that little bit bigger. This pair provide proof of that, with stalls and crowds now spreading out past Victoria Square and towards the Library of Birmingham in Centenary Square.

Alongside Brum’s biggest ice rink, there’s also a bar serving everything from hot chocolate with marshmallows to mulled wine and cider. Meanwhile, the big wheel – best hopped on just before twilight – offers unrivalled views of the city centre and beyond.

Hot chocolate! (If that means nothing to you, you need to watch the Tom Hanks Polar Express film, stat). Treat the kids (or yourselves, because let’s face it: who doesn’t love this film) to an authentic festive train ride this Christmas. Departing from Birmingham Moor Street Station, the Polar Express train ride will head to Dorridge and back.

During the journey, actors reenact some of the most famous elements from the revered 2004 animated film. Dancing chefs will parade through the carriages with hot chocolate and cookies, while Santa will bring each child a silver bell to keep, as seen in the film. This live reenactment on a steam train is not to be missed – kids can get photos with the performers afterwards, too.

Speaking of films… are you a fan of Elf? At Birmingham’s Resorts World Arena you can enjoy a live pantomime-style performance of the famed Will Ferrell flick. The experience is complete with huge LED backdrops of movie scenes, audience snowball fights, a mobile stage that travels around all areas of the arena, and an indoor snowstorm. You won’t want to miss this – it’s on for two days only.

The Hippodrome has you spoilt for choice with Dick Whittington, starring Marti Pellow, Matt Slack, Dr Ranj and Suzanne Shaw. Christmas classic ballet The Nutcracker is also here. Tales from Acorn Wood at Christmas, based on the stories by Julia Donaldson and Axel Schffler is another family-friendly performance suitable for even the littlest in the ranks.

Warwick’s Castle, a medieval fortress dating back a thousand years, is also in on the festivities. The Warwickshire castle gates swing open for a whole host of family-friendly events and activities. Not least, there’s a wintry light trail, an ice skating rink in the majestic castle grounds, and a storytelling event with Santa. If the children have been extra good this year, there are even Christmassy sleepover packages. Booking is required for all events.

Bournville is well worth a visit in December – not least for its majestic village green Christmas tree. Cadbury’s iconic factory will be hosting a plethora of Christmassy-chocolate crossover events in November and December. There will be a pantomime performance of Cinderella, and a stage show featuring the jolly fella’s elves handing out gifts. In the shop, Christmas-themed chocolate and exclusive gifts will also be available to buy.

Head over to Coventry Cathedral for a one-day-only orchestral performance of Raymond Briggs’ The Snowman. This classic children’s animation will be screened behind a live orchestra, while a brand new Shaun the Sheep Christmas film will also be shown on the day. With just three performances on the day, you’ll have to act fast to secure your tickets.

Your visit will start at the winter Glow Main Station, as you are transported across the centrally located Three Counties Showground , on your way to Santa’s Grotto on the festive land train, the Arctic Express.

Upon arrival at the best place to see Santa, you will be welcomed by a band of happy elves and shown to the toy shop waiting room, while Jingle the Head Elf checks where Santa is! Will he be ready to meet you in his Study or taking a nap? Is he watching TV in his Living Room or tinkering with engines in his treasured Sleigh Room? Listen and wait until you get the green light and follow your personal elf guide to find Santa…ready and waiting to meet you.

As Santa greets you, he will be excited to ask questions and share his secret knowledge about your children to entertain and amaze them. It’s surprising what Santa knows and even parents will be intrigued to find out who’s been bad or good. There are special gifts for all the visiting children and don’t forget to taste one of Mrs Claus’ freshly baked cookies as you leave.

Winter Glow is a festive celebration, which starts in mid-November with the opening of the region’s largest covered Ice Rink , followed by the Illuminated Light Trail, alongside Malvern’s first giant Observation Wheel and finally the Personalised Santa Experiences running throughout December. With a magical mix of festive fun, this new winter wonderland is where memories are made.

Winter Glow Unveils the West Midland’s Ultimate Santa Experience with Brand-New Immersive Winter Village

Winter Glow , a multi-attraction Christmas event based at Three Counties Showground, Malvern, has announced the details of their magical new immersive Santa experience, launching on 25 th November and running until 24 th December 2022. The personalised adventure will be set in a life-size Winter Village which is 2000m², with festive activities for all the family to complete, along the help of Santa’s Elves and Mrs Claus.

Jingle the Head Elf added: “ All of my elves are busy in the toy workshop and are so excited about meeting everyone in our festive Winter Village at Winter Glow this Christmas. We will be leaving the North Pole in mid-November, to make the long journey to Worcestershire and can’t wait to sprinkle our Christmas magic.”

Winter Nights by Christmas Lights, Santa Boat Trips

Climb on board and journey through our festive tunnels and enjoy our Winter Nights by Christmas Lights, Santa Boat Trips.

On your 45-minute boat trip we will transport you to a magical “Christmas Wonderland.” Our caverns and tunnels will be beautifully lit and decorated to create a breath-taking atmosphere. Be sure to brush up on your traditional carol and Christmas classic lyric knowledge and practice your very best panto boos and cheers as you sit back and enjoy Krazy Kris and his festive show.

It will be a real musical and visual experience that you won’t forget!

After your trip you disembark and join Santa and his elves in the Christmas Workshop that is located in our main building. With a gift for every child and a hot drink and mince pies for the adults, everyone gets a treat during this amazing experience.

Remember to bring a camera as there will be opportunities to take a Santa Sleigh Selfie with the elves.

These trips go fast so make sure you book early to avoid disappointment.

If you need wheelchair access book the boats on the hour time slot – they have a lift to assist access. These spaces are limited so you MUST call the office on 0121 557 6265 or email [email protected] to reserve.

Make a day of it and pop in our Gongoozler Restaurant for a Christmas snack or meal.

Bring your best singing voice – the skippers really enjoy singing popular Christmas songs.

Jim Kringle is based in Solihull, on the outskirts of Birmingham in the West Midlands. To allow suitable scheduling of travel between locations, home visits are currently only planned for the local area - perhaps within a five mile radius. Simply put - yes! You will get Jim for your booking, which is why there are a limited amount of bookings available for the season. The clothing may be different, as an additional style of suit will be added to the wardrobe for 2023, and Jim is sporting a real beard for the 2023 season.

The Athenaeum Hotel & Residences – Located in Mayfair , this is a 5 star luxury aparthotel with a difference. We find it so useful when staying in hotels in with kids to have a kitchen. They also have a kids’ concierge service where they arrange your kid’s favourite DVDs and treats for the room. Guest can use all of the hotel facilities and they have a pool.

The Ritz – Located on Piccadilly near Hyde Park Corner . One of the most well-known hotels in London. The Ritz being the Ritz, they have a Very Important Kids programme providing anything a child could want in their hotel room. Children under 15 stay for free with their parents in a Junior Suite or above.

The Rubens at the Palace – Located near Buckingham Palace . This boutique hotel has their own Director of Fun and Adventure to organise activities for kids. Children under 12 stay and eat for free and there’s a 6pm check out on Sundays.

St Ermin’s – Located near St James’s Park . They offer a kids concierge to take care of the kids needs with fun and games inside of the hotel as well as outside. They even have their own bee hotel within the hotel. There are 2 new rooms that cater for families of 6. They also do a fabulous afternoon tea for kids .

Park Plaza County Hall – Located near the London Eye , this is an excellent, centrally located mid-range family hotel in London. If booking the Family Getaway Package, they offer goody bags for kids at check-in and ‘Park Plaza money’ to spend in the Spectrum Bar and complimentary breakfast for children up to 12 years old. There are also interconnecting rooms for larger families.

Premier Inn Waterloo – Located by Westminster Bridge near the London Eye. Family hotels in London can be eye-wateringly expensive but the Premier Inn is a great, no-frills budget family hotel in London option if you are looking for a central location.

Great! We’ve also got loads of Christmas markets that are getting bigger each year in some beautiful historic locations. The UK is really lovely at Christmas.

Hi, is this information still accurate in view of the latest Covid restrictions? Are these still happening?

Hi, most of them are still running. I am trying to update as and when I hear of changes. Each link takes you to the website for the grotto / experience and they will also update. In terms of government guidelines and restrictions as to who can visit based on Tiers, that is something that each individual must determine themselves.

Is there anything in Scotland?

There are a few Dobbies garden centres around Scotland and it looks like they’re still running – although suject to local restrictions. A lot of places were already cancelled and didn’t make it on here.

Visit Santa West Midlands

It’s now officially time to panic!!!!! Not really, but if you’re anything like we are you’ll have a fair few gaps on your present buying list and desperately need to fill them fast. What do you do if the kids don’t want to be dragged round ANOTHER soulless shopping centre just to find the perfect pink slippers for Auntie Beatrice? How about you throw in a hot chocolate, maybe a mince pie or two and the chance to meet the big guy in red himself? Doesn’t that sound much more fun?! I predict Garden Centres are going to be big draws this year so I’ve focussed the list on them. Including the fabulous Hollybush Santa. Our favourite!

We love garden centres at this time of year, most will be packed to the rafters with pretty Christmas decorations to help you feel festive, they often have some lovely and unique gift ideas and most of them will have a Santas grotto to visit. Here’s our top five picks of Garden Centres to visit Santa in the West Midlands.

Webbs, Wychbold

Our top pick if fancy a full day out. Webbs of Wychbold is not just a garden centre with a grotto, you can buy your perfect tree (natural or artificial) and everything to festive up your home from food to decorations to crackers. They have an ice rink, a beautiful Grotto where you can visit Santa Claus himself (you can book online here), they will even be screening showings of festive family classics on several Fridays in December PLUS you will be able to meet some real life reindeer every Saturday and Sunday up until Christmas Eve (although they have to leave at 2pm to get ready for their busy evening!).

Hollybush Garden Centre and Aquaria

Offering everything you need to make your house as Christmassy as possible, all incorporating this years “sparkle theme”. The Hollybush Garden Centre’s Santa grotto in Wolverhampton is open every weekend in the run up to xmas and if you’re struggling for time, he will also be there during their late night shopping evenings. The Hollybush Santa is a firm favourite for West Midlands families.

Hilltop Garden Centre

This lovely independent garden centre in Shilton , near Coventry offers everything you need to create a perfect Christmas with a fantastic range of trees, decorations and gifts for all ages. Santas Grotto will be open for a visit every weekend until Christmas.

Earlswood Garden & Landscape Centre

A Christmas treat awaits young and old at Earlswood Garden Centre in Solihull . Their Christmas Market and Grotto is the perfect way to get into the festive spirit, they also have Donkey Rides, a Children’s Teacup Ride, Real Christmas Trees, Wreaths, all perfect to keep the kids entertained. Make sure you book early to avoid disappointment.

Planters Garden Centre, Tamworth

Reindeers, gifts, decorations and a delightful grotto await you at Planters in Tamworth . This year they have a whole Christmas Village where you can make some reindeer food with Mrs Claus before heading to meet Santa and his elves in a magical cabin. You can even take your pet to meet Santa and to receive a xmas treat.
