It was no accident, Mom sent us to Jötunheim . She knew everything that was going to happen... everything that HAD to happen. Mother was a Giant. The last "guardian" in Midgard . I guess she couldn't tell us... but now she wanted us to know. She wanted me to see I have a destiny, but I'm not really sure what it all means yet. Maybe we'll head home now, or maybe we'll see who needs our help. I'm ready for whatever is next.

the journey home god of war

After the conversation, use the Mystic Gateway by the dock and teleport to Brok's Shop, which is also Tyr's Temple. After going through the mystic gateway, enter the Realm Travel Room and use the table in the center. Changing realms until you get to Jotunheim, then lock it in. After the Realm Travel Room does its magic, there is a scene, and you end up on a stone stairway. Walk up it the whole way to reach the hilltops of Jotunheim. After a scene, cross the bridge to reach a cavern. Press square while looking at the statues and the wall to hear some dialogue from Atreus. Of note is the stone wall to the right, which has words carved on it. Tell Atreus to look at it to get a piece of Lore, The Dream of Midgard. Continue further to find another wall of words, and this Lore is The Guardian Returns.

After looking at both pieces of lore, walk up the steps for a scene in which Atreus looks at all of the paintings on the wall. Afterward, go through the entryway and climb up the various levels to reach the top of Jotunheim. Follow Atreus to the far side for another scene in which you spread the ashes and learn Atreus' real identity.

Return to Tyr's Temple

As you walk back through Jotunheim, the credits roll, but you still have control of Kratos. Backtrack through the cavern and then go into the light. This leads back to that long stone stairway. Go down it as you watch more credits. When you reach the bottom, you find Mimir, and the game prompts you to explore all of the endgame content. You can still continue though and do the content afterward.

Return Home

To finish your journey, you must return back to your home. Use the table in the Realm Travel Room to travel back to Midgard. In Brock and Sindri's shop, you must listen to their entire conversation before you can use the Mystic Gateway. When you do use it, choose "Home" and you arrive back at your home at the beginning of the game. Enter the house and lie down on the bed. This triggers the cliffhanger final scene of the game. Can't wait for the sequel!

Congratulations on beating God of War !

God of War Ragnarok's Valhalla DLC Almost Guarantees a Big Choice for the Franchise

God of War's recent Valhalla DLC helped Kratos accept himself, but the expansion also signals a possible big change for the series.

  • God of War's Valhalla DLC gave Kratos closure and could be hinting at Atreus taking the lead in the next game.
  • Atreus' development suggests a potential half-sequel with him as the main character as Kratos guides from the sidelines.
  • The dual-protagonist approach in Ragnarok sets up Atreus for his own story while Kratos transitions into a new role.

God of War brought the Norse arc to a thrilling crescendo with Ragnarok , leaving many players to wonder where the story will be headed now. Following the events of Ragnarok , God of War has left the road ahead of Kratos and Atreus wide open with possibility. However, one of last year's most exciting releases happened in the form of a surprise-free expansion for Ragnarok . The Valhalla DLC gave Kratos some long-awaited closure in accepting himself, and this could actually be hinting at where the franchise is heading.

With the battle of Ragnarok over, it feels as though God of War 's Norse saga has come to an end. With Kratos seemingly ready to move on to something new while Atreus is off searching for more Giants, it now feels clear that God of War will be changing its setting once again. For a DLC, Valhalla bringing Kratos inner peace was a major piece of character development, and this may be a sign that Atreus is about to take up the mantle in the next mainline game.

The Argument For and Against More God of War Ragnarok DLC Expansions

God of war is setting up atreus' next chapter.

Atreus has come a long way since he was first introduced back in 2018. One of the biggest rumors swirling around the God of War franchise is the potential release of a half-sequel starring Atreus . It's still unsure whether a half-sequel will happen or not, but Kratos' place in the Valhalla DLC shows that Atreus may actually be ready for a full-length game.

Kratos In Valhalla Sets The Stage For Atreus' Journey

Although Valhalla was completely focused on Kratos, it may be putting everything in place for Atreus to star in the next chapter. Kratos now accepts his role as a god, which means the character's longevity may be dwindling. After all these years, it's great to see Kratos finally come to terms with himself, but there isn't much room for the character to grow from here on out. Valhalla teased a bright future for Kratos , but his role as the main character feels like it's nearing completion.

Ultimately, Ragnarok felt like a transition. The first chapter of the Norse saga in 2018 had players only playing as Kratos, but that changed in Ragnarok . The sequel featured both Kratos and Atreus in playable roles, and although this could have just been a way to further the story, it also feels rather symbolic. Kratos and Atreus parting ways at the end demonstrates that Atreus is now ready to go out on his own to tell his own story. The dual-protagonist approach to Ragnarok could have been a clever way to get players used to playing mainly as Atreus all along.

God of War's Future Role For Kratos

If Atreus is about to take up the mantle and carry the franchise into the future, Kratos doesn't need to completely disappear. Instead, Kratos could act as a guide and mentor for Atreus in the same way he always has been, just from the sidelines. If the next God of War focuses on Atreus' journey, Kratos could eventually join, but as a companion instead.

There's also the question of how much time will pass between the events of Ragnarok and the next chapter. A fascinating approach would be to showcase a fully grown and mature Atreus in the driver's seat while Kratos settles into his age and takes on a new role as a wise teacher. Seeing Kratos handing off the torch to his son would be a heavy, emotional moment that could give Kratos a happy ending while continuing the legacy of God of War .

House Approves $95 Billion Aid Bill for Ukraine, Israel and Taiwan

After months of delay at the hands of a bloc of ultraconservative Republicans, the package drew overwhelming bipartisan support, reflecting broad consensus.

House Speaker Mike Johnson surrounded by members of the news media in the Capitol.

By Catie Edmondson

Reporting from the Capitol

The House voted resoundingly on Saturday to approve $95 billion in foreign aid for Ukraine, Israel and Taiwan, as Speaker Mike Johnson put his job on the line to advance the long-stalled aid package by marshaling support from mainstream Republicans and Democrats.

In four back-to-back votes, overwhelming bipartisan coalitions of lawmakers approved fresh rounds of funding for the three U.S. allies, as well as another bill meant to sweeten the deal for conservatives that could result in a nationwide ban of TikTok.

The scene on the House floor reflected both the broad support in Congress for continuing to help the Ukrainian military beat back Russia, and the extraordinary political risk taken by Mr. Johnson to defy the anti-interventionist wing of his party who had sought to thwart the measure. Minutes before the vote on assistance for Kyiv, Democrats began to wave small Ukrainian flags on the House floor, as hard-right Republicans jeered.

the journey home god of war

How the House Voted on Foreign Aid to Ukraine, Israel and Taiwan

Here’s how each member of the House voted on the foreign aid bills.

The legislation includes $60 billion for Kyiv; $26 billion for Israel and humanitarian aid for civilians in conflict zones, including Gaza; and $8 billion for the Indo-Pacific region. It would direct the president to seek repayment from the Ukrainian government of $10 billion in economic assistance, a concept supported by former President Donald J. Trump, who had pushed for any aid to Kyiv to be in the form of a loan. But it also would allow the president to forgive those loans starting in 2026.

It also contained a measure to help pave the way to selling off frozen Russian sovereign assets to help fund the Ukrainian war effort, and a new round of sanctions on Iran. The Senate is expected to pass the legislation as early as Tuesday and send it to President Biden’s desk, capping its tortured journey through Congress.

“Our adversaries are working together to undermine our Western values and demean our democracy,” Representative Michael McCaul, Republican of Texas and the chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee, said Saturday as the House debated the measure. “We cannot be afraid at this moment. We have to do what’s right. Evil is on the march. History is calling and now is the time to act.”

“History will judge us by our actions here today,” he continued. “As we deliberate on this vote, you have to ask yourself this question: ‘Am I Chamberlain or Churchill?’”

The vote was 311 to 112 in favor of the aid to Ukraine, with a majority of Republicans — 112 — voting against it and one, Representative Dan Meuser of Pennsylvania, voting “present.” The House approved assistance to Israel 366 to 58; and to Taiwan 385 to 34, with Representative Rashida Tlaib, Democrat of Michigan, voting “present.” The bill to impose sanctions on Iran and require the sale of TikTok by its Chinese owner or ban the app in the United States passed 360 to 58.

“Today, members of both parties in the House voted to advance our national security interests and send a clear message about the power of American leadership on the world stage,” Mr. Biden said. “At this critical inflection point, they came together to answer history’s call, passing urgently needed national security legislation that I have fought for months to secure.”

Minutes after the vote, President Volodymyr Zelensky of Ukraine thanked lawmakers, singling out Mr. Johnson by name “for the decision that keeps history on the right track.”

“Democracy and freedom will always have global significance and will never fail as long as America helps to protect it,” he wrote on social media. “The vital U.S. aid bill passed today by the House will keep the war from expanding, save thousands and thousands of lives, and help both of our nations to become stronger.”

Outside the Capitol, a jubilant crowd waved Ukrainian flags and chanted, “Thank you U.S.A.” as exiting lawmakers gave them a thumbs-up and waved smaller flags of their own.

For months, it had been uncertain whether Congress would approve new funding for Ukraine, even as momentum shifted in Moscow’s favor. That prompted a wave of anxiety in Kyiv and in Europe that the United States, the single biggest provider of military aid to Ukraine, would turn its back on the young democracy.

And it raised questions about whether the political turmoil that has roiled the United States had effectively destroyed what has long been a strong bipartisan consensus in favor of projecting American values around the world. The last time the Congress approved a major tranche of funding to Ukraine was in 2022, before Republicans took control of the House.

With an “America First” sentiment gripping the party’s voter base, led by Mr. Trump, Republicans dug in last year against another aid package for Kyiv, saying the matter should not even be considered unless Mr. Biden agreed to stringent anti-immigration measures. When Senate Democrats agreed earlier this year to legislation that paired the aid with stiffer border enforcement provisions, Mr. Trump denounced it and Republicans rejected it out of hand.

But after the Senate passed its own $95 billion emergency aid legislation for Ukraine, Israel and Taiwan without any immigration measures, Mr. Johnson began — first privately, then loudly — telling allies that he would ensure the U.S. would send aid to Kyiv.

In the end, even in the face of an ouster threat from ultraconservative members, he circumvented the hard-line contingent of lawmakers that once was his political home and relied on Democrats to push the measure through. It was a remarkable turnabout for a right-wing lawmaker who voted repeatedly against aid to Ukraine as a rank-and-file member, and as recently as a couple of months ago declared he would never allow the matter to come to a vote until his party’s border demands were met.

In the days leading up to the vote, Mr. Johnson began forcefully making the case that it was Congress’s role to help Ukraine fend off the advances of an authoritarian. Warning that Russian forces could march through the Baltics and Poland if Ukraine falls, Mr. Johnson said he had made the decision to advance aid to Kyiv because he “would rather send bullets to Ukraine than American boys.”

“I think this is an important moment and important opportunity to make that decision,” Mr. Johnson told reporters at the Capitol after the votes. “I think we did our work here and I think history will judge it well.”

Mr. Johnson structured the measures, which were sent to the Senate as one bill, to capture different coalitions of support without allowing opposition to any one element to defeat the whole thing.

“I’m going to allow an opportunity for every single member of the House to vote their conscience and their will,” he had said.

In a nod to right-wing demands, Mr. Johnson allowed a vote just before the foreign aid bills on a stringent border enforcement measure, but it was defeated after failing to reach the two-thirds majority needed for passage. And the speaker refused to link the immigration bill to the foreign aid package, knowing that would effectively kill the spending plan.

His decision to advance the package infuriated the ultraconservatives in his conference who accused Mr. Johnson of reneging on his promise not to allow a vote on foreign aid without first securing sweeping policy concessions on the southern border. It prompted two Republicans, Representatives Thomas Massie of Kentucky and Paul Gosar of Arizona to join a bid by Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia to oust Mr. Johnson from the top job.

Ms. Greene claimed the Ukraine aid bill supported “a business model built on blood and murder and war in foreign countries.”

“We should be funding to build up our weapons and ammunition, not to send it over to foreign countries,” she said before her proposal to zero out the money for Kyiv failed on a vote of 351 to 71.

Much of the funding for Ukraine is earmarked to replenish U.S. stockpiles after shipping supplies to Kyiv.

Since Russia’s invasion in 2022, Congress has appropriated $113 billion in funding to support Ukraine’s war effort. $75 billion was directly allocated to the country for humanitarian, financial and military support, and another $38 billion in security assistance-related funding was spent largely in the United States, according to the Institute for Study of War , a Washington-based research group.

Hard-right Republican opposition to the legislation — both on the House floor and in the critical Rules panel — forced Mr. Johnson to rely on Democrats to push the legislation across the finish line.

“If Ukraine does not receive this support that it requires to defeat Russia’s outrageous assault on its sovereign territory, the legacy of this Congress will be the appeasement of a dictator, the destruction of an allied nation and a fractured Europe,” said Representative Rosa DeLauro of Connecticut, the top Democrat on the Appropriations Committee. “Gone will be our credibility, in the eyes of our allies and of our adversaries. And gone will be the America that promised to stand up for freedom, democracy, and human rights, wherever they are threatened or wherever they are under attack.”

Thirty-seven liberal Democrats opposed the $26 billion aid package for Israel because the legislation placed no conditions on how Israel could use American funding, as the death toll in Gaza has reached more than 33,000 and the threat of famine looms. That showed a notable dent in the longstanding ironclad bipartisan backing for Israel in Congress, but was a relatively small bloc of opposition given that left-wing lawmakers had pressed for a large “no” vote on the bill to send a message to Mr. Biden about the depth of opposition within his political coalition to his backing for Israel’s tactics in the war.

“Sending more weapons to the Netanyahu government will make the U.S. even more responsible for atrocities and the horrific humanitarian crisis in Gaza which is now in a season of famine,” said Representative Jonathan L. Jackson, Democrat of Illinois.

Carl Hulse , Annie Karni , and Kayla Guo contributed reporting from Washington and Marc Santora from Kyiv.

God of War: The Journey - Inside the Mountain

Solve puzzles and loot Nornir chests while working the inside of the mountain.

Bill Lavoy

Inside the Mountain is the fifth story mission in God of War , and it’s filled with lots of little puzzles and riddles that gamers will need to solve. It also introduces new gameplay mechanics that will change how Kratos and Atreus handle certain situations going forward.

Ascend the Mountain

Head up the mountain until the path is blocked, then jump to the rock face and start climbing. Reach the top and deal with the black breath, moving forward until things get brighter. Pry open the door in front of Kratos and Atreus, then walk toward the statue with antlers. There’s not much to do here just yet, so walk into the room on the left.

the journey home god of war

Fight through the enemies that attack, and take note of the blocked door further ahead. This cannot be dealt with yet, so turn back, keeping a close eye on the ceiling. There is a Light Crystal up there that must be knocked down, picked up, and placed in the free slot in the other room. Have Atreus shoot each of the Light Crystals with Light Arrows, then move the lever back to solve the puzzle.

Traverse the Dark Caves

Move forward through the caves, taking the stairs on the right when they appear. Having Atreus shoot the Light Crystals helps brighten things up. Loot the casket at the top of the stairs and then head back down. There is a large pillar blocking the main path that must be moved, followed by a Revenant and some Nightmares that must be dealt with further ahead.

Hop up on the small ledge to deal with several more enemies, then look around for some boards that can be smashed with the Leviathan axe. There is a Light Crystal behind it, and Atreus can form a bridge if he shoots it with Light Arrows. This bridge will lead to a Nornir chest that can be opened. The three seals are found just past the spot where the Revenant spawned, up on the ledge and near the bridge leading to the Nornir chest, and tucked behind a rock across the bridge and south of the Nornir chest. The solution to the puzzle is written on the wall behind it.

the journey home god of war

Just past where the Revenant appeared is a fork in the path to the right. There is a Light Crystal just beyond this path. If Atreus shoots it with a Light Arrow it will form a bridge and lead to another casket with some loot.

Next to the bridge that Atreus created to lead to the Nornir chest is a Light Crystal. This can be carried across the stone bridge to the south of the Nornir chest and placed in the slot to reveal some additional lore.

When everything has been investigated and dealt with, head for a room to the north that requires Kratos and Atreus to crouch-walk to progress. This will lead to the area behind the statue with the deer antlers. Loot it and read the lore, then open the giant double doors to move forward.

Through the doors will be some enemies that need to be dealt with, and further up the path will be a section of wall made of wood. On the other side is a casket, and there is a crawl space close by that leads to it. Loot the casket and return to the main path, then climb the wall and hop over to the next section. Be sure to lower the nearby chain to make ascension easier in the future.

There is a second chain a very short distance up the path and lowering it will allow Kratos to loot a chest with some Hacksilver in it. Do so, then move further up and turn the wheel to open the door to the next area.

Ascend the Cave Shaft

the journey home god of war

This is an overwhelming area when Kratos and Atreus first arrive, but it’s manageable. The goal is to move the large claw in the middle, but in its current state that is impossible. Before getting to that, look between the wheel and the Hidden Chamber in this area for a narrow passage. Squeeze through and loot the chest in there for some Solid Svartalfheim Steel. That’s all there is to do there, so head back out to the main room and interact with the wheel.

Free the Chain

Several enemies will spawn that need to be dealt with, but they will open a path to solve the problem of the chain that’s stuck. First, smash a wooden barricade to the left of the tunnel they emerged from to loot a chest for some Hacksilver. Head down the tunnel to find Brok, ready to buy and sell goods, or perform upgrades for Kratos.

Take note of a crawl space near Brok that leads to a chest and a casket. Loot both before hopping back onto the main path, which is blocked by huge spikes of death. Throw the Leviathan axe at the mechanism to the right of the spikes, then run through before they close. Another door will be just ahead of that. Throwing the axe (twice) at the top-right of the door will push it open so Kratos can pass through.

the journey home god of war

This new room has more enemies, so it’s best to deal with those before working on any puzzle-solving to progress the story. Loot the ground when they’re gone, then approach the giant cart in the room. There is a mechanism that must be destroyed first, then move it along the rails a short distance. Climb on top of the cart and use it to reach the second level of this room.

Break the two mechanisms above the wooden bridge on the second level, dropping it so Kratos can cross to the other side. Cross the bridge but look for a spot to drop down where a casket can be looted. Lift the nearby door to get out of there. Kratos will now be back on the ground level. Hop back up on the cart, climb to the second level, then cross the bridge again. This time, deal with the enemies standing at the far end. Kick the chain down, then destroy the mechanism above a second bridge to lower that one as well. Deal with the few enemies on the other side of this bridge, then climb up a couple of times to find a casket that can be looted. Kratos should now be back to where he originally climbed up on the cart.

Smash through the nearby wooden barricade and go through the tunnel. Lift the large pillar out of the way, then drop the nearby chain down for future access. There is another chain here that’s used to open the door that will allow Kratos to move the cart through to the original room. Lift the chain, then lift the nearby door in this area. Hope down, then push the cart through until it’s lined up with the platform where Kratos pulled the chain to lift the door.

Hop back up onto the cart and use it to jump the gap to the platform across from the one where the chain was pulled to lift the big door. On this platform is a chest, as well as a large boulder at the far end. Interact with the large boulder.

Find a Way to Ascend

the journey home god of war

Hop down to the ground level and prepare to fight Jarn Fotr, a troll. He’s not unlike any of the other trolls Kratos has faced at this point. He carries a big stick that he likes to swing and smash to the ground, and he will stomp when someone is under his feet. If he has one attack that is different, it’s that he can also stomp his feet and send a wave of ice shooting through the ground. Evade if he does this.

My preferred method of dealing damage to Jarn Fotr was to bait him into a ground smash with his wood plank, rolling behind him as he did. I’d then unleash combinations to deal damage, and then scoot out of the way as he recovered. Throwing the Leviathan axe from a distance will also work, although it’s a slow way to win this fight.

Pick up the loot that the troll drops, then move over to the wheel and turn it. When the wheel can’t be turned any further, throw the Leviathan axe into the gears to hold it in place. Now go retrieve the cart and push it along the tracks and into the claw. Hop on the cart, recall the axe, and then enjoy the ride.

Reach the Summit

the journey home god of war

Move forward towards the flame shooting across the path. Time it so it’s just ending as Kratos passes through safely. The second set is tougher. As soon as the furthest flame from Kratos activates, jump over the gap to pass the second test. The third is the worst, but still manageable. The center console will spin counterclockwise and shoot flames. Move counter clockwise, using the environment to stay out of the fire. Head for the wheel on the far side, killing any enemies that spawn in along the way. Spin the wheel to lower the center console and suppress the flames. Don’t forget to loot the casket.

Further along will be two large boulders, one to the left and one to the right. Push both off the edge to start the lift moving.

There will be interruptions to this ride. The first will be lower-level enemies that can be easily booted off the edge of the lift in bare-handed combat. Just sprint at them and press R2, then get the ride moving again, although another interruption isn’t far off, this time in the form of an ogre. It’s a tougher fight, but it’s not Kratos’ first ogre and should be straightforward to handle. Dodge and parry, then smash this fool with various attacks.

The third and final interruption of this ride is a bad one. A dragon named Hraezlyr will attack, and this fight can be very tough. Start by dodging its attacks with its arms. After a successful dodge, approach its hands and deal damage. After a small amount of damage, the fight will become scripted, and all Kratos must do is hit the indicated buttons in a timely fashion.

A short distance up the path the game will introduce Shatter Crystals and explain how they can be used to clear World Tree Sap obstacles. Grab a Shatter Crystal, then throw it at the obstacle blocking the path. The Shatter Crystal will explode and clear the obstacle. This is a game mechanic that must be mastered for an upcoming fight, so take a minute to get it sorted, then move along the path until triggering a cut scene.

Defeat Hraezlyr

Break left as instructed and run along the path. Jump onto the dragon and wait for further instructions. When Kratos finds himself in the dragon’s mouth, use R2 and R1 to alternate between attacks. This will lead to the fight opening up, which is where the Shatter Crystals come into play.

Avoid Hraezlyr’s attacks by dodging out of the way. Notice that this dragon is sometimes electrified, and that’s what Shatter Crystals require to explode. Look around the perimeter of the fighting zone for Shatter Crystals, then throw them at the dragon to cause damage. A successful hit will stun the dragon and knock it down, exposing a wound that Kratos can attack with melee combat. Smash Hraezlyr until it wakes and returns to its active state.

the journey home god of war

Hraezlyr will reposition and begin attacking Kratos by slamming its claws down in the fighting area. Evade these, then use melee strikes to its limbs. Kratos must also be careful of a slam from Hraezlyr, as it sends a shockwave through the ground that will knock him off balance. This can be blocked with the shield, though, so it’s not much of a threat unless it directly strikes Kratos. Take note, however, that Hraezlyr is not electrified, and therefore the second stage of the fight should not involve throwing Shatter Crystals.

These two stages will alternate a few times. When electrified, throw Shatter Crystals at Hraezlyr. This will knock the dragon down and allow a damage phase. When the dragon is not electrified, avoid the swipes from its claws, then strike out at the limbs. Just be sure to keep an eye out for the dragon’s attacks and avoid them as necessary.

After about two thirds of Hraezlyr’s health is gone, a short cinematic will hint as to how to end this fight. Kratos must get close to the beast, avoiding its attacks and dealing damage to its claws. This will provoke its electric attacks, which will once again allow Kratos to strike with Shatter Crystal throws. When the dragon is stunned, approach the open wound and unleash attacks, then press Square when prompted on the screen.

The game will now explain Shock Arrows, which can be used to destroy Shatter Crystals and clear World Tree Sap obstacles. Atreus can swap between Light Arrows and Shock Arrows by pressing up on the d-pad. Instructing him to shoot is the same (Square). Luckily, there is a World Tree Sap obstacle with a Shatter Crystal nearby to test this on.

Head into the cave and continue along, keeping an eye out for a path on the right. Have Atreus shoot a Shock Arrow at the Shatter Crystal, clearing the World Tree Sap obstacle from it and allowing Kratos to loot the chest. Head back to the main path and climb the wall.

Clear out any enemies at the top, then have Atreus shoot the Shatter Crystal. Use the wheel to raise the basket with the Shatter Crystal in it, then have him shoot it again. Kill any enemies that spawn, then climb up the wall to the left of the basket with the Shatter Crystal in it.

Kill the enemies ahead, then explore the open wall to the right before climbing up on the short ledge. With the main door blocked for now, follow the hallway as it loops around, ducking into the room on the right to investigate the Jotnar shrine. When ready, enter the main room and take out the three enemies in there, one of which is a step up from the other two, but still manageable.

When the room is clear, grab the Shatter Crystal from nearby and throw it against the World Tree Sap obstacle stuck to the bridge, then have Atreus shoot it with a Shock Arrow. There are two obstacles, so repeat this process twice to fully lower the bridge. This is the path forward, although there is a Nornir chest that needs to be dealt with first.

The three seals for the Nornir chest are hidden around the bridge. While crossing the bridge, look right to find the first one tucked in the wall. The second is found by raising the bridge and locking the gears into place, then crossing to the upper level. It’s just on the right, while a casket is on the left. The final seal is in the same room as the Jotnar shrine (before Kratos ever reached the Nornir) chest. Smash all three and loot the chest to get an Idunn Apple.

the journey home god of war

Push forward until reaching a wall that Kratos must climb, then pry open the big double doors. Quite a few enemies will block the narrow path, but this is another perfect opportunity for bare-handed combat. Sprint at enemies and press R2 to kick them off the mountain and progress forward. Once at the base of the mountain, climb it and work around until finally reaching the summit. A cinematic will play that will end this chapter.

That does it for the Inside the Mountain chapter, which means it’s time for A New Destination . Of course, all our guides can be found at our God of War walkthrough and guide .

Knuckles ending explained: knuckles’ journey & sonic 3 set-up.

The six episodes of the Knuckles spin-off show are now streaming on Paramount+, complete with an action-packed ending setting up Sonic the Hedgehog 3.

Warning! This article contains spoilers for Knuckles season 1.

  • Knuckles' journey with Wade Whipple establishes Earth as a home for the Echidna warrior, finding a sense of belonging on the planet.
  • Knuckles' villains, G.U.N. agents and The Buyer, set up a thrilling showdown that ends with Knuckles defeating them and finding peace.
  • Wade Whipple's transformation into a braver character and ally hints at exciting developments for Sonic the Hedgehog 3, setting the stage for new adventures.

Knuckles is a spin-off of Sonic the Hedgehog 2 , with the six episodes on Paramount+ ending the show in an action-packed fashion. Since Sonic 2 's release in April 2022, Sonic the Hedgehog 3 's story has been highly anticipated. In order to make the wait for the third installment slightly easier, Paramount has crafted a spin-off TV show centered around Knuckles , telling a solo story about the Echidna warrior.

Knuckles ' voice cast sees Idris Elba return as the titular character, while Adam Pally leads the human cast as the returning Wade Whipple from the Sonic the Hedgehog movies. While many will question how much Sonic and Tails are in Knuckles , the show solidifies itself as a Knuckles-centric storyline. Journeying across the United States to train Wade in the ways of an Echidna warrior, Knuckles ' ending is suitably action-packed , expectedly hilarious, and even features some elements that set up the story of Sonic the Hedgehog 3 .

Sonic the Hedgehog 3 will release in theaters on December 20, 2024.

Why Knuckles’ Journey With Wade Whipple Was Important

Knuckles' adventure with wade is a story about finding a home..

By the time of Knuckles ' ending, the titular Echidna and Wade Whipple had traveled to Reno, won a bowling tournament, and defeated the G.U.N. agents pursuing them. Concerning what the point of this journey was, it was to establish Earth as a home for Knuckles. After Sonic the Hedgehog 2 , it became clear that Tails and Sonic have acclimatized to Earth well. Knuckles quickly established that this was the opposite for him, with the warrior struggling to adapt to the more peaceful ways of everyday life on Earth.

Knuckles finally accepted Earth as somewhere he could live rather than begrudgingly stay to watch over the Master Emerald.

Similarly, a big part of Knuckles' story is that he is without a family after his tribe was destroyed. That said, through Knuckles' journey with Wade, he came to accept that Earth could be his home. Through his newfound friendship with Wade, his connection to Wade's family, the people he met, and the places he saw throughout the show's six episodes, Knuckles finally accepted Earth as somewhere he could live rather than begrudgingly stay to watch over the Master Emerald.

Knuckles Villains Explained: Who Are The G.U.N. Agents & The Buyer?

Knuckles' antagonists are connected to the echidna, sonic, and doctor robotnik..

The three villains of Knuckles were introduced earlier in the show; two of the villains are G.U.N. agents who wish to track Knuckles down and sell him to the other of the show's villains, The Buyer. The G.U.N. agents are called Agent Willoughby and Agent Mason and are played by Ellie Taylor and Scott Mescudi respectively, while The Buyer is played by Game of Thrones alum Rory McCann. Concerning the two agents, they are tasked with capturing Knuckles, driven by the money they will be paid for this but also their disillusionment with G.U.N.

Willoughby and Mason are annoyed that G.U.N. began allowing aliens like Knuckles, Sonic, and Tales to live on Earth after supposedly being an agency that prevents such instances from occurring. McCann's aptly named Buyer is the one who will be paying the agents to capture Knuckles in a bid to steal the latter's power. By the time of Knuckles ' ending, The Buyer is revealed as a former lackey of Jim Carrey's Doctor Robotnik, desiring Knuckles' power to exact revenge on the aliens that caused him to lose his position as a G.U.N. agent.

What Happened To The G.U.N. Agents In Knuckles' Ending?

Knuckles' ending sees the g.u.n. agents and the buyer face off with the warrior..

In Knuckles ' ending, the titular Echidna is cornered by the G.U.N. agents. This leads to a lengthy action sequence in a hotel penthouse in Reno, in which Knuckles faces off against his enemies while Wade Whipple saves his family. Eventually, Knuckles uses the power of two rings to defeat Willoughby and Mason , sending the two to an unknown location. The agents are not seen again by the time of Knuckles' ending, proving that the Echidna defeated them once and for all.

Knuckles uses a giant globe-like structure atop a nearby building to crush The Buyer and his suit, ending the threat to Knuckles' life and allowing Knuckles ' ending to be a happy one.

However, Knuckles ' ending then has The Buyer ambush Knuckles as the two battle on the streets of Reno. Sporting a massive exoskeleton that runs off Knuckles' power via GUN experiments , The Buyer quickly overpowers the hero. Wade Whipple then comes to Knuckles' aid, buying enough time for the Echidna to regain his strength, before he begins destroying The Buyer's robotic suit. After a battle, Knuckles uses a giant globe-like structure atop a nearby building to crush The Buyer and his suit, ending the threat to Knuckles' life and allowing Knuckles ' ending to be a happy one.

Wade Whipple Learned What It Means To Be An Echidna Warrior

Wade's journey is just as transformative as his alien friend's by the time of knuckles' ending..

Despite the show being named after Knuckles, Wade Whipple is arguably as important a character as the Echidna himself. Knuckles ' ending allows the warrior to come around to the ways of Earth, coming to call the planet his new home. Where Wade is concerned, the journey allowed him to become a much more confident, competent character as he learned the ways of an Echidna warrior from his new friend Knuckles. In Knuckles episode 4, Wade is shown fighting through his fears and becoming much braver.

Wade's arc then came to a head in Knuckles ' ending , where he came up against his father, who had abandoned him. Cary Elwes' "Pistol" Pete Whipple is cartoonishly evil as the show's bowling antagonist, but serves a purpose in that Wade confronts him for his mistakes. After proving his father was wrong to abandon Wade, his mother, and his sister, Wade beats Pete in a bowling competition. This, combined with Wade standing up to The Buyer after Knuckles was momentarily defeated, proves that Wade found his inner warrior by Knuckles ' ending.

How Knuckles' Ending Sets Up Sonic The Hedgehog 3

The next installment in the sonic the hedgehog franchise can include many knuckles elements..

Knuckles is admittedly more self-contained than many assumed it would be and has little in the way of explicit setup for Sonic the Hedgehog 3 . That said, several character changes, thematic elements, and small world-building aspects could be tied into the story of Sonic 3 when it releases in December 2024. Knuckles ' ending sets up Sonic the Hedgehog 3 with the Echidna now being more willing to protect Earth. While he swore a vow to protect the Master Emerald, his experiences with Wade could see Knuckles fight not just for that, but for Earth itself in the future.

The Buyer's mention of Doctor Robotnik also sets up Jim Carrey's return in Sonic the Hedgehog 3 as Eggman.

Sonic 3 Has The Robotnik I've Been Waiting 4 Years For & It Makes Jim Carrey's Return So Much Better

Similarly, Wade's character change could see him be more of a direct ally in Sonic the Hedgehog 3 . Rather than just being a bumbling friend of Tom's, Wade could present his newfound bravery in a way that directly impacts the third film. Furthermore, The Buyer's Knuckles storyline indicates that G.U.N. has a lot of ways to harness the powers of creatures like Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles. With Sonic the Hedgehog 3 officially including Shadow the Hedgehog, it could be the case that the villain's powers are used to create a larger arsenal of G.U.N. weaponry.

Knuckles is a spin-off of the Sonic the Hedgehog movie franchise created for Paramount+. Idris Elba reprises his role as Knuckles the Echidna in the action-adventure series, and the show will follow him on a new adventure as he meets new allies and faces new foes.

Ukraine-Russia war latest: 'Putin did not order Navalny death,' - US report; Russian oil refinery suspends operations after 'Ukrainian drone attack'

US intelligence agencies have suggested Vladimir Putin most likely did not order Alexei Navalny to be killed, according to the Wall Street Journal. Meanwhile, a large fire broke out at an oil refinery it was hit with 10 Ukrainian drones, according to the Russian news agency.

In April 2023 116 Russian military personnel were convicted of murder - 900% higher than the previous year.

The same time this year, Russian media outlet Vertska reported that 190 former convicts were prosecuted again in criminal cases - 20 of whom were for murder or attempted murder.

One of those included an ex-Wagner prisoner who was sentenced to 22 years after murdering an elderly woman after his release.

The UK's Ministry of Defence puts this high number of murders by serving and veteran Russian soldiers down to enduring war-related chronic poor mental health issues.

It says post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and battlefield desensitisation to violence are also likely contributors.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has issued a new appeal for air defence systems after the latest strike on Ukraine's energy sector.

Mr Zelenskyy said Ukraine needed sufficient quantities of air defence and other weapons to protect its cities and prevail on the frontline.

"Terror should always lose, and anyone who helps us stand against Russian terror is a true defender of life," he said.

Earlier, we reported that Ukraine's air force said that it had intercepted 21 out of 34 drones launched across the country.

Energy facilities in Dnipropetrovsk in the south of the country and Ivano-Frankivsk and Lviv in the west had been attacked.

Private energy operator DTEK reported "casualties" after four of its thermal power plants were damaged.

Maxim Timchenko, DTEK chief executive, said the strikes are a cause for stronger defence.

"Last night's attacks underline the continued urgent need for Ukraine's allies to provide stronger air defence systems," he said.

The newest appeal comes in spite of a military aid package from the US which will provide munitions and equipment for its air defence launchers.

One person has died and 14 have been injured after attacks on several regions in Ukraine, local authorities have said.

The areas of Kherson, Donetsk, Kharkiv, and Dnipropetrovsk were all targeted overnight.

In the Kherson region, one person died and eight others were injured, according to governor Oleksandr Prokudin.

While in Kharkiv, Russian forces hit a psychiatric hospital, injuring a 53-year-old patient.

Governor Oleh Syniehubov said 60 patients and five employees were in the hospital at the time.

Russian troops launched a total of 16 attacks against settlements in the Donetsk region, destroying or damaging 12 houses and five other unnamed buildings, Vadym Filashkin, the regional governor, said.

Three people were injured.

Dnipropetrovsk

An 82-year-old woman was injured during several strikes in the Dnipropetrovsk area.

Governor Serhii Lysak said seven blocks of flats, a market and a beauty salon were among the buildings damaged.

Following on from our last post, the Kremlin has said China and Russia will continue to develop ties after efforts by the US to curb relations between the two nations.

It follows US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, saying he had reiterated to China's top diplomat Wang Yi the serious concerns the US has about the country providing dual-use goods that are "powering Russia's brutal war of aggression against Ukraine".

Those weapons are being used to "demolish a power grid and other civilian infrastructure and to kill innocent children, women and men", Mr Blinken said.

When asked about Mr Blinken's comments, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said China is an "absolutely sovereign state".

He added: "At the same time, it [China] is our close partner. We will further develop our co-operation."

China maintains that it has not provided weaponry to any party and is "not a producer of or party involved in the Ukraine crisis".

The Kremlin has said there are currently no grounds for peace talks with Ukraine.

Dmitry Peskov, Kremlin spokesperson, said the two nations would not discuss an end to the conflict after Kyiv put in place a formal refusal to negotiate.

The comments refer to a 2022 decree signed by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy which declared the prospect of any talks with Russian leader Vladimir Putin "impossible".

The decree states that the possibility for a discussion is still open to what Mr Zelenskyy called "another president of Russia".

Russia launched a barrage of missiles against Ukraine overnight, appearing to target the country's energy infrastructure.

Ukraine's air force said that it had intercepted 21 out of 34 drones launched across the country.

Energy minister Herman Halushchenko said energy facilities in Dnipropetrovsk in the south of the country and Ivano-Frankivsk and Lviv in the west had been attacked.

An engineer was reportedly injured, Mr Halushchenko said.

Private energy operator DTEK said four of its thermal power plants were damaged and that there were "casualties" but did not provide any further detail.

It comes after the security service of Ukraine confirmed that it had launched drones at the Slavyansk and Ilsky oil refineries in Russia's Krasnoyarsk region.

The source said drones also targeted Russia's Kushchevsk military airfield in the same region.

Intelligence agencies in the US have determined that Russian President Vladimir Putin most likely did not order opposition leader Alexei Navalny to be killed, according to the Wall Street Journal (WSJ).

Mr Navalny, one of Mr Putin's fiercest critics, died at an Arctic prison camp in February at the age of 47.

His allies, including his wife, accused the Russian leader of having him murdered - an accusation the Kremlin has always denied.

But after a recent assessment based on a range of information - including some classified intelligence and an analysis of public facts - US intelligence agencies do not believe Mr Putin ordered the death of his opponent.

The assessment also took into account the timing of the death and how it overshadowed Mr Putin's presidential re-election in March, the WSJ cited some of its sources as saying.

The paper quoted sources as saying the finding had been "broadly accepted within the intelligence community and shared by several agencies, including the Central Intelligence Agency, the Office of the Director of National Intelligence and the State Department's intelligence unit".

Responding to the report, Leonid Volkov, a senior Navalny aide, called the findings naive and ridiculous, the WSJ reported.

A Russian oil refinery has partially suspended operations after being damaged in a suspected Ukrainian drone attack, the Russian TASS news agency says.

A large fire broke out at the Slavyansk oil refinery in the Krasnoyarsk region after being hit with 10 Ukrainian drones, the security director at Slavyansk ECO Group, was quoted as saying.

They said some of the damage caused may be hidden so the "work of the plant has been partially suspended".

Earlier today, Roman Siniagovskyi, head of the Slavyansk administrative district said the distillation column was damaged during the alleged strike.

Russia's Defence Ministry said its air defence units had intercepted and destroyed 66 Ukrainian drones over the Krasnoyarsk region, and two more over the Crimean Peninsula.

A source from the Security Service of Ukraine confirmed that Ukrainian drones had been launched at the Slavyansk and Ilsky oil refineries and had caused fires at the facilities.

A Ukrainian court has ordered the detention of the country's farm minister in the latest high-profile corruption investigation.

The country's High Anti-Corruption Court ruled that agriculture minister Oleksandr Solskyi should be held in custody for 60 days, but he was released after paying bail of 75 million hryvnias (£1.5m), a statement said.

He is alleged to have led an organised crime group that unlawfully obtained land worth 291 million hryvnias (£5.87m) and attempted to obtain other land worth 190 million hryvnias (£3.83m) between 2017 and 2021.

Over the past two years, a number of senior Ukrainian officials have lost their jobs, causing embarrassment as they receive thousands in foreign aid.

US military aid is currently on the way to Ukraine, which may take several weeks to arrive.

The Institute for the Study of War (ISW) says due to this, it will be a little while until any of the much-needed aid makes much of an impact on the battlefield.

It says forces in Ukraine will first have to use the aid to stabilise the frontlines and try to stop ongoing Russian advances, particularly in the areas of Avdiivka and Chasiv Yar in the Donetsk region.

No matter what way Ukraine uses the new aid, the US has not claimed that it would be enough to allow the country to regain all of its territory.

The ISW also warns of a potential summer Russian offensive operation that may begin as soon as June.

"Ukraine's ability to regain all of its territory in the long term rests on numerous future decisions in the West, in the Kremlin, and in Kyiv," the ISW says.
