Tom Cruise: All New Movies Coming Out in 2023 and 2024

After his breakthrough with leading roles in ‘Risky Business’ and ‘ Top Gun ‘ in the 1980s, Thomas “Tom” Cruise Mapother IV started bagging pivotal roles in several dramas, including ‘ Born on the Fourth of July ,’ for which he even won a Golden Globe Award and got nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actor. In the 1990s, he rose to newer heights of stardom by featuring in various commercially successful films, such as ‘ A Few Good Men ,’ ‘ Interview with the Vampire ,’ ‘The Firm,’ and ‘ Jerry Maguire .’

Once he impacted dramas, he started traversing the action and sci-fi genres. By landing some iconic roles in the ‘ Mission: Impossible ‘ film series, ‘ Collateral ,’ ‘ Edge of Tomorrow ,’ and ‘ Top Gun: Maverick ,’ he established himself as an action star, performing most of the risky stunts on his own. The winner of three Golden Globe Awards, four nominations for the Oscars, and an Honorary Palme d’Or, Tom Cruise is known to be one of the world’s highest-paid actors. 1. Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part Two (2024)

Tom Cruise recently jumped off a cliff on a motorbike for ‘ Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One ‘ and he will be in action soon enough in its sequel, ‘Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part Two.’ Helmed by Christopher McQuarrie, the spy action movie is the eighth installment in the ‘Mission: Impossible’ film series with Cruise reprising his role as Ethan Hunt for the eighth time running.

Although the plot details are kept under wraps, the action-adventure film is most likely to resume Ethan’s hunt for The Entity as he meets some new friends and foes along the way. The production for the sequel began in March 2022 but is yet to be finished due to the delay caused by the 2023 SAG-AFTRA strike. Having gone through several postponements due to the COVID-19 pandemic when it comes to its release date, it is now officially set to be released on June 28, 2024. But it is very much possible that it will get postponed again due to the pause in production.

2. Untitled Tom Cruise/SpaceX Project (TBA)

Tom Cruise is set to take his status as an action star to the next level by traveling out of Earth to film the first ever Hollywood motion picture in outer space. In May 2020, it was reported that Elon Musk’s Space X and Cruise were working on an action-adventure project with NASA. Not only is Cruise expected to be blasted into space alongside filmmaker Doug Liman, with whom he has previously worked in ‘ American Made ‘ and ‘Edge of Tomorrow,’ for the upcoming film, but he will also live up to his reputation by attempting to do a space walk outside of the International Space Station. In this movie, Cruise is set to essay the role of a down-on-his-luck man who is the sole person in the position to save Earth. Apart from starring in the film, he is attached to the project as a writer as well as a producer.

3. Live Die Repeat and Repeat (TBA)

A sequel to the 2014 movie ‘Edge of Tomorrow,’ ‘Live Die Repeat and Repeat’ is an upcoming science fiction film that will reportedly reunite Tom Cruise and director Doug Liman, with the former set to reprise his role as Major William Cage. Moreover, Emily Blunt is also rumored to portray Rita again, alongside Cruise. Ever since the release of the hit original film, talks of a sequel have been flying around. However, in 2019, it was finally set in motion when Matthew Robinson was brought on to write the script.

Fast forward to a couple of years later, in a May 2021 interview with Entertainment Weekly , Emily Blunt revealed, “That was an amazing script, but I just don’t know what the future holds for it. I did read a script that was in really great shape, but it’s just a matter of if that can even happen now. I don’t have the straight answer on that one.” With the project still lingering in the development stage, it is hard to expect it to be brought to life in at least a couple of years.

In just three days of release in North American cinemas, the actor’s sequel to 1986’s jet film has almost made as much worldwide as its predecessor did across its entire theatrical lifespan.

It marks the first time the 59-year-old has broken the $100 million mark for a domestic opening weekend, with the film grossing a massive $134 million so far according to Paramount Pictures.

Cruise’s prior three-day box office record was $64.8 million for Steven Spielberg’s ‘War of the Worlds’.

Maverick, which started showing Friday, has also beaten the actor’s “A Few Good Men’, ‘Tropic Thunder’ and ‘Jerry Maguire’.

His other most profitable films include ‘Mission: Impossible – Fallout”, which grossed $61 million in 2018.

The sequel to late director Tony Scott’s ‘Top Gun’ had been slated to open in summer 2020, but the plan was blocked by the pandemic and release was delayed several times.

Directed by Joseph Kosinski, produced by Jerry Bruckheimer who made the original ‘Top Gun’, and co-produced and co-financed by Skydance, the sequel reportedly cost $152 million.

Cruise said in Cannes about the possibility of a streaming release: “That was never going to happen.”

A record 4,735 North American cinemas have been showing Maverick, which also opened in 23,600 locations in 62 international markets.

Heavy global promotion has included premieres featuring fighter jets and a royal showing in London attended by Prince William, 39, and his wife Kate, 40.

Reviews included a 97% on Rotten Tomatoes. and positive critical reactions.

It sees Cruise reprise his part of cocky flier Maverick, who returns to the elite Top Gun flight training school to test a new generation of flyers played by actors including Miles Teller, Monica Barbaro, Danny Ramirez, Lewis Pullman and Jay Ellis, with cancer survivor Val Kilmer also making a comeback as Iceman from the original.

Tom Cruise conquered Toronto’s gridlock traffic Tuesday as he hit Hogtown to surprise a local audience attending a screening of Mission: Impossible — Dead Reckoning Part One .

Tom cruise thrills toronto audience at 'mission: impossible 7' screening back to video.

Following the film’s U.S. premiere Monday night in New York City, the actor headed north as part of a five-city blitz to promote the seventh instalment of his long-running action franchise on its opening day.

In a video shared by Maurie Sherman from KiSS 92.5’s Roz and Mocha Show, Cruise joked that he was surprised to be in the city. “I didn’t know I was here,” he said grinning as he entered the auditorium.

“Thanks for being here. It’s such a great moment,” Cruise told moviegoers inside Scotiabank Theatre in downtown Toronto as he was joined by writer-director Christopher McQuarrie. “I love you guys. We dream of these moments to make these films for you and for you all to see it this kind of format. I’m so happy to see everybody here. Please enjoy the mix, the music, the picture … We love movies and we love you all.”

In an interview with eTalk last month, Cruise was given a seemingly impossible mission — “Take on the traffic in Toronto for two hours. Without road rage,” host Sonia Mangat challenged.

“You know what, I have done that challenge, and I have been in that traffic. I’ve made movies in Toronto, I’ve visited Toronto, I have friends in Toronto,” Cruise replied laughing. “What’s up with the traffic in Toronto? Have they figured this out?”

Cruise briefly signed photos for local fans before jetting off to Washington D.C. to surprise moviegoers at the AMC Georgetown. He and McQuarrie also visited Atlanta before ending his day in Miami.

McQuarrie shared a pic of him and Cruise munching on popcorn to celebrate the completion of their whirlwind five-city Mission tour.

“New York/Toronto/DC/Atlanta/Miami. 24 Hours 5 Cities 1 Mission: Expressing our sincerest gratitude to all of you for coming out and seeing movies — any movies — on the big screen. Thank you.”

In the latest entry entry, Cruise’s Ethan Hunt and his team of spies — which includes Rebecca Ferguson, Ving Rhames and Simon Pegg — go after a world-ending artificial intelligence threat known as the Entity.

His pursuit brings him into conflict with old adversaries played by newcomer Esai Morales and franchise vets Henry Czerny and Vanessa Kirby. Along the way, Hunt finds himself allied with a fast-talking pickpocket (played by Hayley Atwell).

At the film’s New York premiere, Cruise told Postmedia that he hasn’t tired of the series because he and McQuarrie — who has been with the franchise since writing 2010’s Ghost Protocol — keep coming up with new ways to challenge his hero.

”There’s constant adventures that we can take this character on,” he said.

After Cruise screens each new Mission film, McQuarrie told Postmedia that he famously says, “We can do better.”

But with Dead Reckoning Part Two already deep in production, McQuarrie stopped him before he could finish that sentence this time around.

“At the end of Part One , he turned to me and he was about to say it, and I said, ‘We already did.’ Wait until you see Part Two .”

Mission: Impossible — Dead Reckoning Part One is now playing in theatres.
