LIV Golf League live

LIV Golf is a relatively new tournament series that differs from traditional golf tournaments. Financially supported by the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia, LIV Golf is characterised by high prize money and a unique format. The tournaments are shorter, often only three rounds, and include both individual and team competitions, which is a departure from traditional golf.

The tournaments are conducted in a shotgun format with all players playing at the same time. The league consists of 13 teams, each one with four players including usually one team captain. LIV Golf hosts tournaments all over the world.

Tour Championship Live Blog: Live updates from Round 2 at East Lake

tour blog live

The second round of the 2018 Tour Championship is underway at East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta. We’re tracking all of Friday’s action below with our Tour Championship live blog.

Tiger Woods got off to a hot start on Thursday. Woods eagled the 18th hole to finish off a five-under 65 that left him tied for the lead. Woods and co-leader Rickie Fowler tee off for the second round at 2:00 p.m. ET on Friday.

Phil Mickelson

But neither Woods nor Fowler is currently projected to jump to No. 1 in the FedEx Cup standings. That honor belongs to Justin Rose, who enters the day one shot back of the lead. Rose begins his second round with Gary Woodland at 1:50 p.m. ET.

Follow the second-round action from East Lake below.

FULL ROUND 2 SCORES | HOW EACH PLAYER CAN WIN

(ALL TIMES ET / REFRESH THE PAGE FOR THE LATEST UPDATES)

5:54. JUST missed it. Raced some two feet past the edge of the hole and man, was that close. It’s a tap-in birdie for Woods, who will share the lead with Rose at seven under heading to the weekend. This is gonna be an awesome weekend.

5:50. Fowler finds the front right bunker. Woods? He does even better at this closing par 5. Yesterday he finished with a 27-footer for eagle. Now he’s got another eagle putt…this one from 31 feet. Stay tuned!

5:48 . Rose makes birdie at 18 and posts -7, the clubhouse lead. That could very well be your $10 million man. Now it’s time for Woods and Fowler to finish up the day.

5:44. Tiger ropes his tee shot down the center at No. 18, and he’ll be in good position. Meanwhile, Rose faces and up-and-down from just short of the green, hoping to post the clubhouse lead.

5:35. Not much in this birdie putt for Tiger, but he plays too much break (or too much pace, depending on your perspective) and misses it on the high side. Nice tee ball for Rose at 18, meanwhile.

5:30. Let’s get caught up, folks. Tiger hit three-wood off the tee at No. 17 and just landed his approach shot inside 15 feet, meaning a good look at birdie. Up ahead, Rose saved par from the bunker at 17. One dramatic 18th hole left…

5:23. Decent effort from Woods but it leaves him with 14 feet for bogey. He leaves that one disappointingly short, leaving him with a double-bogey 6 at No. 16. Back into a tie for the lead.

5:20. Fore right! for Rose at 18. But it’s bad news for Woods, too: he had to hack that one out of the bunker, it was plugged in the face. Fifty or so yards for par now.

5:16. That is now a two-shot Woods lead. Rose misses a short par putt — and it wasn’t very close. But Woods is in a bunch of trouble, too. He hoisted his iron shot at 16 over the tree in front of him but found a bunker well short of the green.

5:13. Not much of a followup swing for Tiger there, he hit a hard pull at 16 that kicked off a tree into the Bermuda rough. Not great, but should have a clear look, at least.

5:09. BIRDIE for Woods! He pours that one in the absolute dead center of the cup. My goodness, what a stretch. Tiger Woods is your solo leader again at eight under.

5:05. Tiger flirts a tad bit with the water but ends up inside 25 feet for birdie. He’ll be first to putt.

5:00. This par 3 has been a bit tricky this week. Water all around! And a long wait for our final group. They’re still hangin’ on the tee.

4:56. Fowler just misses. But Tiger pours it in! He and Rose share the lead at -7. Man, that just drizzled right down the line and fell into the hole. On to 15.

4:53. Good for Tiger, not so good for Fowler. Woods has 17 feet for birdie, Rickie has 20 feet for par.

4:50. Rickie’s ball disappeared into the rough just off the right side. Man, that stuff is thick. Just grabs the ball and buries it. Up ahead, Rose pours in his birdie putt to move into the solo lead at seven under.

4:47. No. 14 at East Lake is a brute! 534 par 4, though it’s at least a touch downhill. Tiger finds the fairway.

4:42. Made it. Walked it in for a solid save.

4:40. Tiger just shorts his bunker shot but it’s not a bad result — eight feet left. Fowler taps in for par and then it’s Tiger for his, a right-to-lefter. Someone yells something from the gallery and he backs off to re-inspect and settle himself.

4:35. Unforced error for Woods there…just short and right of target and finds the front right bunker. Fowler’s in a good spot on the green.

4:33. But Rose follows with a birdie of his own. Two fellas now at -6. Tiger twirls his driver on his way down the 13th. As for Former Leader Jon Rahm? He’s got five feet for double up ahead.

4:30. Tiger tucks that 5-footer inside the right edge and he is, once again, the solo leader. How’d that happen?

4:29. Rough chip for Rick. It catches the tier by the hole and rolls 40 feet back down the slope, but he nearly holes that one. Tap-in bogey, and the lead moves back to -5 — for now.

4:26. Rickie’s approach ends up just short of the green and in the fairway. Tiger? He’s inside five feet for birdie.

4:22 . Rahm drops a shot up ahead and Fowler’s tee shot at 12 finds some thick rough down the left side. Tiger finds the right side of the fairway. Could be a chance for him to seize the lead…

Ooh. Even as I type that Rahm finds the water. Yowza!

4:20. Pars for Fowler and Woods. On to 12.

4:16. Nice spinny pitch there. Played it off his back foot and hit a neat pitch to about three feet. TW just needs to hit some greens now, but he’s in a fine spot.

4:13. Short and right for Tiger off the tee at the par-3 11th. He’ll have another pitch from there to stay at five-under, and one back (Fowler now at -6 after a bogey).

4:09 . Woods from the rough behind the green. The lie wasn’t as good as it looked at first, but damn, that was impressive. Took a floppy approach to it and it came out high, soft, spinny. Kick-in par.

4:07. Jon Rahm just poured in another putt and has now made six (6!!) putts outside of 10 feet today. That’s silly. As for our leader, Rickie Fowler? He just hit his second shot about 15 yards from behind a tree but followed with a solid third. He’ll have a 15-footer for par.

4:05.  Hey folks, Dylan Dethier hopping in here for the remainder of the back nine. After some serious consideration (Should he go over the tree? Under it? Hook it around?) Tiger just hit a punch-draw through the back of the green. Lie looks okay for his chip, though.

4:03:  FYI, Justin Rose, who is T3 at -5, is still currently projected to win the FedEx Cup and its $10 million bonus.

4:01:  Fowler hits an ugly tee shot at the par-4 10th hole. It goes right, bouncing into some trees and spectators. Tiger follows suit, but he knocks it wide left into the trees.

3:59:  Fowler makes his par to remain in sole possession of the lead at -7.

3:57: OUCH. Tiger misses his 4-footer for par at 9. That’s his first bogey of the day and it drops him back to -5. He’s made a lot of those short par-savers today but couldn’t sink that one.

3:55:  Tiger goes from 77 feet away to 4 feet away. He’ll have that to save par at 9.

3:53:  There are quite a few fans following Tiger and Rickie today:

Tiger at 2 tee. A lot of people playing hooky or taking a half day to see @TigerWoods pursue win 80. pic.twitter.com/v6ipuqxbIn — Adam Schupak (@AdamSchupak) September 21, 2018

3:51:  Tiger comes up just short with his own tee shot at 9, but he’s really short of the hole. A good 70 feet away.

3:49:  The par-3 9th is playing a long 242 yards today. Fowler takes a 4-iron and hits it to the right side of the green.

3:47:  Tiger rolls his par putt right into the center of the cup for a 4 at 8. Fowler can’t convert his short(ish) birdie try. He’ll stay at -7.

3:45:  Tiger has a tough downhill bunker shot at 8, but he hits a nice one to about 5 feet. He’ll have that to save par.

3:42:  Fowler hits a beauty from the fairway and sticks it within 10 feet at 8.

3:41:  Tiger was given relief from a camera tower and ended up dropping 20 yards closer to the fairway than he originally sat. He’s got 175 yards left from the rough, and he knocks into the front greenside bunker.

3:38:  Cameron Smith with the near-ace at 15:

Golf. ¯_(ツ)_/¯ #QuickHits pic.twitter.com/6zf2gmJEnD — PGA TOUR (@PGATOUR) September 21, 2018

3:35:  Score update: Fowler (-7), Rahm (-6), Woods (-6), Rose (-5), McIlroy (-5). Finau (-5).

3:33: At the watery par-4 8th, Fowler hits a nice drive down the middle. Tiger, on the other hand, loses his drive way to the right near a hospitality tent. If his path is not obstructed, he should be fine over there.

3:30:  Both Rickie and Tiger make their short par putts to remain at -7 and -6, respectively.

3:29:  Fowler comes up waaaay short with his 30-foot birdie try. He has as much left for par as Tiger does.

3:27:  Tiger decides to putt from a few yards off the green at 7 and rolls it to about three feet. He needs to make that one to remain at -6.

3:25:  Tiger is forced to slice a punch shot from behind a tree and he does it nicely getting up to, but not on, the green. Fowler had a better look and reached the green with his second shot.

3:21:  Fowler hits first at the long par-4 7th and it goes wide right into some trees and pine straw. Tiger’s next, and he hits it to almost the same spot. We’ll have to see how their lies ended up.

3:19: Watch Webb Simpson nearly ace the par-3 9th:

242 yards ➡ 1 yard A near ace from @THEPLAYERSChamp. #QuickHits pic.twitter.com/TcjIM9yKDU — PGA TOUR (@PGATOUR) September 21, 2018

3:17:  Tiger misses his mid-range birdie putt at 6 to finish with a disappointing par on the par-5. Fowler makes his birdie putt to tie Rahm at -7. They are both now one shot in front of Tiger.

3:15:  Jon Rahm just finished off the front nine with a birdie to shoot 30 and move into the lead at -7.

3:14:  Tiger takes a full flop shot swing from the edge of the green at the par-5. It’s on a nice line but it rolls out a good 8-10 feet. He’ll have that left for birdie. Fowler misses his eagle putt and has 3 feet left.

3:11:  Tiger goes for it in two with a 5-wood and hits the green, but his ball bounces just off the putting surface into rough. Fowler hits a similar approach shot but his ball stays on the green. So Fowler will be putting and Woods chipping for eagle.

3:09:  Rose gets it to -5 with a birdie at 6, which Tiger and Rickie are playing right now.

3:05:  Defending FedEx Cup champion Justin Thomas has gone -2 over his first 6 holes today to get within one shot of the lead.

3:02:  Both Tiger and Fowler bomb nearly identical drives down the middle of the fairway at the par-5 6th hole (Fowler’s is a few yards farther).

2:58:  Tiger putts from the edge of the green, about 25 feet away, and it’s on a perfect line but loses steam just before reaching the cup. Par for Tiger. Fowler, on the other hand, sank his birdie putt to move into a tie with Tiger and Rahm at -6.

2:55:  Tiger is forced to punch out from the trees with his second shot at 5, and he he makes good contact and gets up near the green.

2:51:  Jon Rahm makes birdie at 7 to tie Tiger Woods for the lead at -6.

2:50:  At 5, Tiger hits his first truly wild tee shot of the tournament. It soars into the trees to the right of the fairway.

2:47:  Tiger can’t convert his 10-footer for birdie. Both he and Fowler make par at 4.

2:43:  Tiger takes a 7-iron from the fairway at 4 and sticks it to 10 feet. He’ll have a great look at extending his lead here.

2:39:  Score update: Tiger remains in sole possession of the lead, and while Rory McIlroy and Justin Rose have both dropped a shot to fall to -4, two shots back.

2:35:  Tiger uses a fortunate bounce to drive it into the fairway at the par-4 4th. Fowler smashes it down the middle.

2:32:  No problem for Tiger there. He confidentially rolls in a three-footer to save par. He’s at -6 through three holes. Fowler makes his par putt, too.

2:29:  Tiger has 43 feet for his birdie putt and he leaves it well short. He’ll have a tense one for par. Fowler also missed his own long birdie putt.

2:26:  Tiger hits his tee shot at 3 into the first cut on the left side, then knocks it onto the green, but shorter than he would have liked.

2:23: Here’s a look at Tiger’s first birdie of the day:

Alone at the top @PlayoffFinale. @TigerWoods has grabbed the solo lead. #QuickHits pic.twitter.com/50YBRbjHjo — PGA TOUR (@PGATOUR) September 21, 2018

2:19:  Now Tiger for his birdie try at 2… and he makes it! Tiger moves to -6 and is now in sole possession of the lead.

2:16: At the par-3 2nd, Tiger hits a nice one to about 12 feet. He’ll have a great look at birdie. Fowler hits the green with his tee shot, too, but it’s a good 30 feet right of the cup.

2:14:  Rory McIlroy has now birdied two of his first three holes to join Woods and Rose on top of the leaderboard at -5.

2:12:  Fowler’s long par putt won’t go, so he settles for a bogey at the 1st to drop to -4. With Rahm making bogey and Rose picking up an early birdie, Tiger and Rose are now tied for the lead.

2:11: Fowler chooses to putt from the collar at 1 and leaves it woefully short. Tiger lags it right up to the hole and taps in for a two-putt par.

2:08:  Tiger got it much closer with his approach at 1 on Thursday, but he three-putted to open with a bogey. He obviously would like to avoid that outcome today.

2:06: For his second shot at 1, Tiger hits a 7-iron into the middle of the green, but it’s a long way from the hole. Fowler’s second ends up against the collar of the green.

2:02:  Tiger chooses driver on the 1st tee and hits a good one that just sneaks into the first cut on the left side of the fairway.

2:00:  Fowler is first to hit for our featured pairing, and he smashes it down the middle of the fairway.

1:56:  Jon Rahm has birdied his first three holes of the day to tie Fowler and Woods for the lead at -5:

Ladies European Tour: England's Rosie Davies sees hopes fade at South African Women's Open

Watch final round of South African Women's Open live on Sky Sports Golf from 11am on Sunday - Belgium's Manon de Roey leads by three strokes with English duo Rosie Davies and Gabriella Cowley six shots adrift as they pursue first Ladies European Tour victories

England's Rosie Davies slipped six shots off the pace at the Investec South African Women's Open with Belgium's Manon de Roey to take a three-stroke lead into Sunday's final round.

Davies, who shared the lead after round one and trailed de Roey by just one shot after round two, carded a second successive one-under 71 and is now at eight under for the event at Erinvale Country & Golf Estate.

The 34-year-old was at 10 under for the tournament but then double bogeyed 17 and is now tied for fifth with compatriot Gabriella Cowley who, like Davies, is eying a first win on the Ladies European Tour.

Cowley shot a five-under 67 on Saturday with the highlight an eagle three at the par-five seventh, while leader De Roey registered a six-under 66, including nine birdies, to propel herself to 14 under.

De Roey, who reeled off four birdies in a row between 11th and 14th holes, said: "I tried to stay patient all day. I started quite strong and created chances for myself.

"I thought it was going to be more windy and, to be honest, I prefer the wind because I can shape the ball more. But I just picked my targets and lines and tried to commit to every shot.

"I'm really looking forward to the final round. I've been playing quite solid all year with a few top-10s. I'll just keep doing what I've been doing, make some putts and we'll see what happens."

De Roey has one victory on the Ladies European Tour so far, at the 2022 Aramco Team Series - Bangkok when she beat Sweden's Johanna Gustavsson by three strokes.

Her nearest challenger in South Africa is now Ines Laklalech on 11 under, with the Moroccan recording a seven-under 65, in which she went blemish-free across her first 16 holes.

However, Laklalech then dropped two shots at the 16th, denting her hopes of overhauling De Roey on the final day and securing a second Ladies European Tour title, after the 2022 Lacoste Ladies Open de France.

I think there’s something about the name “Matt” that raises a person’s affinity for traveling.

Backpacking Matt , owned and run by Matt Kyhnn, is a travel blog that has similar vibes with Nomadic Matt. It has a simplistic design, a memorable content tone, and striking travel photos that bring the blog’s stories to life.

Matt Kyhnn also leverages videos — providing his audience a more immersive way to enjoy his content.

Fresh out of college, Matt simply decided that he won’t settle for a 9-5 job. Instead, he spent months working and traveling across Ireland, Scotland, and other regions in mainland Europe.

He then booked a one-way ticket to New Zealand where he now resides. In addition to his blog, Matt also runs his own travel planning and booking website — Planit NZ.

Kiersten spent three, eye-opening months in multiple countries to re-envision the idea of “ success .” She succeeded in her goal and is now one of the most accomplished travel bloggers on the web.

The Blonde Abroad covers a range of topics from travel photography to foreign cuisine. All of which draws wisdom from Kiersten’s personal travel experiences.

6. Dan Flying Solo

Dan Flying Solo

By:  Daniel “Dan” Clarke

Dan Flying Solo   is by Daniel Clarke — a travel blogger, photographer, and creative director at his own Portugal-based media company.

Dan’s blogging life was ignited by his passion for photography. He was originally a frustrated restaurant manager who wanted more out of life.

Like me, Dan is a self-taught blogger. He worked day in and day out by doing free online courses, YouTube tutorials, and heaps of informative guides.

What makes Dan Flying Solo an extra noteworthy blog is its library of video content. Daniel also makes it clear that the site has no particular theme — not unlike everything else in life.

“ There’s not one particular theme to this blog because I don’t think that’s how life really is. We change and what we enjoy changes.”

What makes foXnoMad unique is that Anil utilizes his knowledge in tech to provide insightful tips on traveling smartly. He also develops apps that can help travelers in situations like determining water drinkability and calculating tips.

11. Alex in Wanderland

Alex in Wanderland

By:  Alexandra Baackes

Alexandra Baackes created  Alex in Wanderland   for two reasons.

First, she’s been dealing with a case of wanderlust all her life. And second, she’s a fan of a beloved, fictional character — Alice in Wonderland.

Alexandra is originally from Brooklyn, New York where she purchased her one-way ticket into the traveling life. She now blogs about the best travel destinations, outdoor activities, and her personal, travel-related gear.

One of the things I like about Alex in Wanderland is the presentation and categorization of content.

On the “Categories” page, Alex makes sure articles are well-organized based on topics like travel inspiration, activities, and planning. This makes it easy for her audience to find the information they need at any given time.

Aileen runs  I Am Aileen   — an award-winning blog that discusses just about everything there is to discuss in travel. She writes about destinations, the best travel activities, foreign cuisine, and more.

What interested me the most about Aileen is her blogging background. At age 21, she quit her corporate job, which only paid $300 a month, to become a professional traveler.

Since then, she’s been on a streak of smashing goals and breaking barriers. Thanks to her commitment to quality content, she’s recognized as one of the top bloggers in Asia.

14. Wandering Earl

Wandering Earl

By:  Derek Earl Baron

Here’s a fun trivia about  Wandering Earl .

Unlike most bloggers who use their first names, the “Earl” in “Wandering Earl” is actually a middle name. Blog owner Derek Earl Baron only thought that “Wandering Derek” didn’t sound as catchy.

Derek is a one-of-a-kind, adventurous soul who discovered his purpose as a modern nomad relatively early into adulthood. After graduating in 1999, he planned a three-month vacation across Thailand, Cambodia, and Vietnam.

That three-month vacation continues to this very day.

And that’s how Wandering Earl was created — documenting Derek’s adventures in over 100 countries. He also shares valuable pieces of wisdom on travel planning, food, budgeting, gear, and so on.

Wandering Earl has that “old-school” look and feel to it. On the plus side, the site’s design only highlights

  • Working while traveling
  • Selling “eGuides”

15. Be My Travel Muse

Be My Travel Muse

By:  Kristin Addis

Be My Travel Muse  is a solo female travel blog created by Kristin Addis.

She studied in Taiwan and kept an investment banking job for four years. The only problem was, her daily routine rendered her creative, dreamer side claustrophobic.

Her first step was a one-way ticket to Bangkok — envisioning a life of writing and travel. That’s exactly what she accomplished with her blog, which now caters to millions of readers all over the world.

Kristin believes that solo traveling is the best way for women to feel empowered and more confident. She prioritizes solo female travel tips on her blog, including guides on safety, packing, and maintaining relationships.

Be My Travel Muse also has heaps of content on popular travel destinations and self-care for women.

16. Followtheboat

Followtheboat

By:  Liz Cleere and Jamie Furlong

Followtheboat   is a unique travel blog that focuses on a specific mode of transport: sailing.

It is created with love by a travel writer Liz Cleere and photographer Jamie Furlong. There’s also Millie the rescue cat, which functions as a source of inspiration and encouragement for the blog’s human founders.

Despite the focus on sailboats, Followtheboat’s content isn’t just made for sailors. The posts are tailor-made for travelers who also happen to be interested in the art and joys of sailing.

Don’t be surprised at the humor and dynamic range of topics on the blog. You’ll find posts like “tools you need on a sailboat” and “is this the weirdest loo in the world?”

Followtheboat also has a library of podcasts, which record Liz and Jamie’s experiences on their travels.

If Followtheboat is about boats, you can probably guess what  Matthew Woodward   is a blog about trains.

Not to be mistaken for  Matthew Woodward  the internet marketer, Matthew Woodward the rail adventurer loved trains as a child. He owned model railway sets, traveled alone by train, and watched shows about trains on TV.

In his time as a geography student, he explored Europe with his trusty Interrail pass. He set his passion aside to focus on his career, which he eventually gave up to become a travel writer.

Today, he blogs about railway systems over different continents. He’s also an accomplished author of three books: “The Railway to Heaven,” “A Bridge Even Further,” and “Trans-Siberian Adventures.”

18. The Opposite Travellers

The Opposite Travellers

By:  Ryan and Rachel Riel

The Opposite Travellers   were created by married couple Ryan and Rachel Riel.

While both loved to travel, Ryan and Rachel had contrasting preferences when it comes to traveling.

Rachel prefers to travel in style and luxury — through the accommodations and services offered by establishments and travel agencies. Ryan, on the other hand, leans toward daring adventures like biking and trekking — on $5 per night accommodations.

The couple, however, utilized their differences as a selling point in The Opposite Travellers.

As such, the website’s “Travel” section has two main categories: “Luxury Travel” and “Adventure Travel.” In other words, the blog has a diverse content library for travelers of all tastes and budgets.

The Opposite Travellers also boasts high-quality visuals taken and produced by Ryan Riel. All of the site’s videos are published on Ryan Riel Media — Ryan’s official YouTube channel.

20. Bucket List Journey

Bucket List Journey

By:  Annette White

Travel is all about adventures, and so is life.

That’s the essence of the  Bucket List Journey   by Annette White.

The blog’s tagline is “tools and inspiration to live your list.” It refers to a person’s “bucket list,” which is basically a list of goals and experiences they want in life.

Annette didn’t always have such a positive outlook in life. She used to be diagnosed with anxiety, which caused her to miss out on life-enriching experiences and opportunities.

Eventually, she decided that she’ll no longer become a prisoner of fear and uncertainty. She had courage and took charge of her life’s direction — something every aspiring blogger needs to do at one point.

Bucket List Journey talks about bucket list-worthy destinations, motivation, money, and travel tips. Annette also imparts knowledge on people who also struggle with facing fear and making braver life decisions.

21. Migrationology

Migrationology

By:  Mark Wiens

When I first visited  Migrationology , I wasn’t sure whether to classify it as a food or travel blog.

Then I checked out Mark Wiens’s “About” page. There, I learned that he viewed food as a way to connect with people in various cultures.

And to be exposed to these cultures, Mark dedicates his time, money, and efforts to travel.

Mark makes sure the blog only focuses on content based on his personal travels. It’s made for people who want to experience the flavors of the world — in person or through Mark’s posts.

Apart from general food travel blog posts and city guides, Migrationology also offers readers a “Food Tour” service. It is the result of a year of research done by Mark himself — in partnership with  Bangkok Vanguards .

Today, Brett publishes his opinions about the airline industry on Cranky Flier. He also updates several series, like “Worst Airline Ever,” “Airlines We Lost,” and “Across the Aisle Interviews.”

I’ll let you determine what these series are all about based on what they’re called.

23. Never Ending Footsteps

Never Ending Footsteps

By:  Lauren Juliff

Lauren Juliff is one of those bloggers who already knew what they wanted to be from an early age.

She dreamt of traveling to new places, meeting new people, and exploring new cultures.  Never Ending Footsteps   is proof that she accomplished all three.

The blog consists of posts about Lauren’s fulfilling travels to different countries. But unlike a lot of famous travel bloggers, she also talks about the downsides of being a digital nomad.

Never Ending Footsteps has a “The Incidents” blog section where Lauren discusses the not-so-sexy aspects of traveling. She has been scammed, attacked by monkeys, locked out of her room, lost her passport, and more.

Despite these incidents, Lauren’s love for travel only grew. Such experiences increased her wisdom and travel acumen — resulting in some of the most insightful travel articles ever published.

Lauren also helps her audience get into the world of travel blogging. Check out “How to Start a Travel Blog” for information on web hosting, working with WordPress, and so on.

The Longest Way Home

By:  David Ways

The Longest Way Home   started as the personal travel journal of David Ways — a solo traveler in search of home.

The blog originally started as David’s private, digital diary. As he journeyed across Europe and gained experience, it turned into a full-on blog with travel guides to specific locations.

David finally found home in Nepal before traveling to other parts of Southeast Asia.

He’s not the most nitpicky blogger in terms of grammar and spelling, but he’s definitely a brilliant storyteller. He’s also skilled in capturing and immortalizing moments into photos, which you can view on his blog’s gallery.

The Longest Way Home has a library of content about various destinations, trekking, and travel planning. It also features in-depth travel guides to Nepal, Thailand, and overland travel — plus a mini-guide to Portugal.

32. The Adventurists

The Adventurists

By:  Tom Morgan

The Adventurists   is hands down one of the most well-designed travel blogs in this post.

The blog proves that integrating tons of video content into one page doesn’t have to affect its loading speed. In fact, the site loads surprisingly fast despite having several video panels on the homepage.

I’m not going to delve too deeply into this technical feat. What I’m going to focus on, however, is the brilliant team behind The Adventurists.

The site is founded by “Chief Idiot” — Tom Morgan. Apparently, most of the crazy ideas featured on the blog were his.

Every page on the site reflects Morgan and his team’s wackiness and passion for great adventures. They do, host, and document daring outdoor activities on air, land, and sea — plus, a whole lot of charity.

Their audience can also participate in these activities, which can be held in various parts of the globe. The “Monkey Run,” for example, is an event where participants race through dirt trails on tiny bikes.

The bottom line is, it’s hard to come up with unique ideas that set you apart in the blogging landscape. The Adventurists, on the other hand, managed to do so multiple times.

Dan Noll and Audrey Scott are a pair of adventurers, storytellers, and tourism advisors who advocate for responsible traveling.

They created  Uncornered Market   — a responsible tourism blog — after leaving their secure and stable lifestyle in Prague. Prior to that, they lived in San Francisco and took a leap of faith for the sake of avoiding regrets.

It’s clear that both Dan and Audrey believed that fulfillment can’t be found within the confines of your comfort zone. They explored, made connections, and shared their experiences through their travel blog.

Some of the topics you’ll find in Uncornered Market are about destinations, sustainable tourism, food, and trekking. Dan and Audrey also write about personal growth and experiential travel.

Uncornered Market is also a tourism development and marketing consultancy company. They help travel companies, destinations, and tourism organizations build their brands and deliver their message to a wider audience.

39. Jessie on a Journey

Jessie on a Journey

By:  Jessica “Jessie” Festa

Like plenty of bloggers, Jessica Festa needed a taste of life before discovering her true calling.

In her youth, Jessie traveled to mostly cruises in the Caribbean and road trips in North America. She also experienced being a sightseeing guide in New York.

Jessie on a Journey   is the result of her pursuing her dreams of getting paid to do something she loves. She now blogs about being a solo female traveler, blogging it, and profiting off of it.

I’m sure a lot of big-name bloggers are all too familiar with how Jessie made the blogging vision a reality.

For a long time, she felt that the workaday lifestyle isn’t for her. It made her feel like she’s living everyone else’s life — not the kind of life she wanted to keep.

Despite the disapproval of loved ones, Jessie decided to quit her secure job in favor of being a travel blogger.

She was just as unprepared as most people before starting their own blog. The key difference is, she went out there and took her first step.

40. Legal Nomads

Legal Nomads

By:  Jodi Ettenberg

Back when Jodi Ettenberg was in law school, she never would’ve guessed she’d run a successful travel and food business.

That happens to a lot of people, especially those who never thought of giving priority to their passions.

It’s just a hunch, but I think the name  Legal Nomads   had something to do with Jodi’s background in law.

Legal Nomads highlights destinations and local cultures just as insightfully as other travel blogs. What makes it different is that Jodi focuses on local cuisines to experience and tell the stories of each destination.

A huge part of Jodi’s blog is about wellness and gluten-free eating. She then utilized her knowledge and experience to create detailed restaurant cards, which travelers can use when visiting certain countries.

41. Indiana Jo

Indiana Jo

By:  Jo Fitzsimons

Like Jodi Ettenberg, Jo Fitzsimons also used to practice law before becoming a successful travel and lifestyle writer.

Indiana Jo   started way back in 2010 where Jo can comfortably type away her thoughts and musings. Fed up with her full-time job, she went out to see the world as a digital nomad.

It wasn’t always smooth sailing for Indiana Jo, however. According to her, she thought about quitting the blog several times before finally realizing that it’s a lifetime thing.

Jo writes about her travel experiences, destinations, wine, and food. She also shares travel planning tips along with a long list of content about topics that personally interest her.

42. TravelFreak

TravelFreak

By:  Jeremy Scott Foster

TravelFreak   is the brainchild of Jeremy Scott Foster who left America in the middle of a recession and to Australia.

For a while, he racked up some savings as a traveling bartender. It took some time before he finally made the switch to be a digital nomad and online entrepreneur.

Jeremy created the blog to help people create opportunities to achieve the fulfilling life they deserve.

He writes about travel advice, destinations, gear, and ways to get your finances in order as you travel. This includes guides on how to land and keep a job abroad along with resources on reliable booking websites.

I personally like the way Jeremy designed TravelFreak to provide the best possible user experience. Unlike a traditional layout, the site features a search bar so readers can jump right into the content they need.

TravelFreak has been featured in Forbes, National Geographic, The New York Times, and a few other big-name publications.

43. The Everywhereist

The Everywhereist

By:  Geraldine DeRuiter

Before anything else, yes — that’s Rand Fishkin in the photo above.

And yes, the next travel blogger on this list is Rand’s longtime sweetheart and wife.

Geraldine DeRuiter was a former copywriter and went with Rand in his travels, which are often business-related. She then turned to the habit of documenting their travel experiences, which she described as “love letters” to her husband.

Today, Geraldine works full-time on  The Everywhereist   — named by Time magazine as one of the best blogs in 2011.

The Everywhereist contains posts about food and Geraldine’s travel experiences along with a comprehensive Philadelphia travel guide. The guide contains information on where to go, eat, shop, and stay.

Geraldine also wrote a book called “All Over The Place.” It chronicles how she embraced her love for blogging after being laid off, which aspiring bloggers can draw inspiration from.

Keep Calm and Travel

By:  Clelia Mattana

Keep Calm and Travel   is a travel blog created by serial traveler Clelia Mattana.

Ever since she was 19, Clelia is a certified sea lover and globetrotter. But like many travel bloggers, she was given a choice between a secure job and the traveling lifestyle.

Clelia’s finalized her choice when she bought a one-way ticket to Asia. She then created Keep Calm and Travel to send a simple message:

“No matter what your age is, or your budget, or status, you can travel and live your life on your own terms.”

The blog’s topics include destinations across continents, photography, and travel gear. She also has a dedicated page for Sardinia, which is one of her absolute favorite travel destinations.

Practical Wanderlust

By:  Lia and Jeremy Garcia

Lia and Jeremy Garcia, who aptly labeled themselves a “travel couple” on Instagram, are the minds behind  Practical Wanderlust .

Jeremy is a film degree holder whose passions include writing and directing. He also became a high school teacher who taught filmmaking and digital media art.

Lia, on the other hand, has a fashion design and apparel merchandising degree. She took on roles in corporate merchandising before becoming a business systems analyst.

Why did I tell you all this? Simple: I want you to know what the pair had to give up pursuing their dreams of traveling.

Practical Wanderlust’s goal is to help other people enjoy travel in the most realistic and sensible approach possible. The blog is filled with detailed content on planning memorable trips on a budget, where to go, and staying safe.

Lia and Jeremy also host their own podcast, which is available on Google Podcasts, Spotify, and Apple Podcasts.

The Voyageur

By:  Pauline Chardin

Pauline Chardin is a France-based fashion designer, photographer, and art director.

She always had a soft spot for travel — driven by her appreciation for picturesque architecture, landscapes, and good food. She started  The Voyageur   to help people view the world through her voice and eyes.

The Voyageur is a simple, yet aesthetic website achieved through Pauline’s incredible photography skills. Apart from itineraries and posts about hotels, food, art, and architecture, the site also has a sizeable photo gallery.

Images are accompanied by a brief article that describes the destination’s history and Pauline’s thoughts and emotions during her visit. I’m not sure what it is, but there’s something about this content format that’s truly engaging and relaxing.

48. Amateur Traveler

Amateur Traveler

By:  Chris Christensen

Don’t be fooled by the name —  Amateur Traveler   is by no means run by an amateur.

Chris Christensen is a skilled photographer, travel writer, and podcast host. The site also utilizes a long list of monetization strategies that I believe every blogger should learn.

True, he wasn’t the most experienced traveler when he started the blog. Before he created Amateur Traveler, he was a full-time EVP of engineering and operations for a company based in Silicon Valley.

In his defense, he grew up in a family that traveled a lot to national parks in a trailer. He also learned a lot of foreign languages, which he believes is a window into understanding and embracing different cultures.

Amateur Traveler discusses destinations, travel budgeting, planning, gear, and booking. The site also features a weekly podcast on the top destinations around the world.

49. Girl Eat World

Girl Eat World

By:  Melissa Hie

Melissa Hie is the “Girl” in  Girl Eat World  — a name that encapsulates what the whole blog is all about.

You see, Melissa’s three passions are food, travel, and storytelling. She started the blog in 2015 as a digital diary for herself and friends who need travel tips.

Prior to her blog’s success, she amassed quite a following on Instagram. This springboarded her blogging career, which she put in the back burner after focusing on her full-time career.

Girl Eat World is essentially a compendium of Melissa’s travel stories and travel planning guides. She also has an iconic style of capturing Instagram posts, which must be seen to be appreciated.

50. The Adventure Junkies

The Adventure Junkies

By:  Antonio Cala and Amanda Zeisset

The Adventure Junkies   is definitely not your average travel blog.

It’s not just about the travel stories of founders Antonio Cala and Amanda Zeisset. Upon visiting the blog for the first time, you’ll realize that it’s all about the community the blog has built.

New visitors are encouraged to join “ Summit ” — a free community for people who seek adventures through travel and outdoor activities. There, members can connect, plan events, share posts, ask questions, form groups, and discuss anything related to travel.

The Adventure Junkies also compile guides and resources about outdoor activities like diving, kayaking, mountain biking, and snowboarding. There’s also a section for visitors who’d like to learn about outdoor and underwater photography.

Antonio and Amanda started The Adventure Junkies as a personal blog about their three years of cycling. Over time, their readers began asking questions on how they can plan their own adventures.

The couple then realized that they need to create something more than a personal blog. As such, they transformed The Adventure Junkies as a one-stop shop for adventurists.

Melissa created  A Broken Backpack   a year after her journey in the Canadian Rockies — hitch-hiking from point A to B. She continued working on her blog as a creative outlet while working on a farm in Australia.

It didn’t take long before A Broken Backpack’s popularity gained momentum and gave Melissa a new frontier.

The website contains crucial tips on travel gear, budgeting, destinations, and the life of a digital nomad. Melissa also put together in-depth guides on travel blogging, moving to another country as an expat, and backpacking.

Let me tell you the story behind  Life Part 2   and the people behind it.

Life Part 2 is a mix of all things travel. At times, there’ll be a post about remote destinations and backpacking, and at other times, the theme is luxury travel.

Common Reasons Why Some People Don't Travel

I hear it all the time; “I want to travel, but…” There is always something in the way for some people, and while their intentions may be to one day take that dream trip, for many it’s a pipe dream or a luxury that they can’t have.

We’ve been very fortunate to live a life of travel the way we have, and in some ways, we take it for granted.

Some people do not have the privilege of traveling when they want, be it time constraints, financial reasons, of personal. There are many reasons why people don’t travel, and it’s not always a simple fix.

Some people don’t want to travel, which is fine. We have to live what is in our hearts.

If you’ve every wondered why some people don’t travel, then below I will share some of the biggest road blocks that people have shared with me when it comes to travel.

Reasons Why People Don’t Travel

1. fear of leaving friends and family.

The fear of leaving people behind is a real struggle for a lot of people. I totally understand, we’ve left our friends and family in Australia to move to the USA, so I can relate to those people.

What those people are really afraid of is leaving the comforts of what you know.

We love our friends and family and enjoy their company, which is what makes leaving them hard, but if you have a burning desire, you’ll do it regardless.

The real reason you’re afraid to leave your friend and family behind is that you are afraid of who you are when you are not attached to these people .

Quite often, we define who we are by the people we surround ourselves with. Once they’re gone, we can feel lost as to how to think, plan, dream, and be.

Leaving the known for the unknown is terrifying, BUT thousands of people have done it before you, survived AND created the life they really love. There is no greater gift you can give to yourself, hence other people.

Live the best life you possibly can so they know all their sacrifices have been worth it.

How to overcome this fear

  • Keep your friends and family as an important part of your life and continue to share your joys and pain with them.
  • Technology is wonderful. They can be with you through Skype, and Facebook and text messages. Even a hand written letter will reach out and touch their soul.
  • Continue to lean on them for support, ask for their advice, and let them know how grateful you are for all they have given you.
  • Involve your parents and siblings in your travels. Have them to meet you somewhere in the world and create wonderful travel memories with them.
  • Come home for a surprise visit and watch them cry and then hug them straight away.
  • Show them how much travel has changed you for the better. They will be so glad that you decided to follow your heart and leave them.

How to tell your friends and family you want to travel

I know it is frightening when you think of what your parents will say. No one wants to let their parents down. When explaining you want to travel, remember to:

  • Be honest. Explain what you want to do and why.
  • Have answers prepared for when they ask you what are you going to do about your future. They’ll be worried you are throwing away a future career. Show them how your travels will actually help you learn and grow.
  • Show them what other long-term travellers are doing, and how their life has changed. Get them to read our blog to see how our career prospects never suffered, how we have travelled with our family, and we are so happy living the life we really want.
  • Show them you are serious by sharing with them your plans, your research, your savings preparation, and your budget.
  • Don’t forget to share your back up plans in case anything goes wrong. What do you plan to do should you run out of money, your things get stolen, you get into trouble. Let them see you have researched how to stay safe on the road. Trust me, they’ll be worried about those damn crocodiles.
  • Tell them why you want to travel and what you hope to get out of it at the end. It’s hard to not support someone when you see how they won’t be complete until they fulfill their burning desires.
  • Let them know how much they mean to you and will still be a part of your life. (You might just inspire them to finally live the travel dreams they have always had).

Here is some advice on how to deal with Solo Travel Negativity from Family & Friends

2. Too many responsibilities

A lot of people will tell themselves; “I want to travel, but I have to take care of…” whatever it is, there is always something in the way.

Whether you have a dog to care for (a common responsibility for why people don’t travel) or a house, a garden, a parent whose getting on a bit – whatever the reason, they are valid reasons, but not an excuse not to travel.

You can put your dog in a kennel or stay with a friend, you can get a house sitter, and I’m sure you can find a sibling or a care worker for a couple of weeks to keep mom and dad company.

Don’t let your life be dictated by things that can be easily fixed. Within each day, there are things that have to be done, but what can you do to minimize them?

Put yourself and your dreams first, because travel doesn’t have to be forever, and you can return to your responsibilities.

If you dedicate the largest chunk of your day to doing tasks associated with your dreams, you’ll slip into a zone of joy and flow where time seems to expand for you. You get more done and you feel happy, more capable, and in control.

Travel removes responsibilities

Responsibilities lessen when you travel. Your soul’s natural state is freedom; its purpose is to thrive and grow. It’s called evolution. You can’t expand and grow when you are placed in a box, which responsibilities do.

That is not to say we have to give up all responsibilities and do nothing. There are many tasks we have to do in order to progress. The soul gets that.

But, it abhors menial tasks that don’t contribute to its growth, like cleaning and attending meetings you can’t stand attending.

We understand about responsibility and time. We constantly hear people complain of no time to do things, which is why they can’t succeed. It’s not a lack of time, it’s a lack of prioritizing time and allowing fear to control everything instead.

3. My career will suffer

When I returned home from living in the States, I reached a massive career road block.

The education system denied my right to teach in Australia. The rules had changed, and because I had a 3 year University degree instead of a 4 year degree, and had been out of the country for 5 years, I was not allowed to teach, unless I went back to Uni to do my fourth year.

I had 10 years teaching experience in 5 different countries across different grades and different positions, but it meant nothing without ticking off the bureaucratic box.

So I had to change careers in the middle of my life, with two small daughters and in a new country (USA). You know what? It worked out.

Travel doesn’t alter your career path, life does . Usually it’s bureaucratic nonsense like it was with me.

You can either return to your career after traveling, or you can find a new one. Travel does not lead you down one path, there are twists and turns and tributaries on this grand adventure that lead you to the right place, and it may even spark up a new career venture for you – like travel blogging!

You can’t make a decision now based on what you think will happen in the future.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with climbing the career ladder if this is clearly what you want to do for ever, but, if you really want to travel and you afraid to lose job opportunities , you need to listen up.

I know society expects you to go to college, get a good job, work hard and reward yourself for 2-4 weeks a year. There is nothing wrong with this, but it doesn’t mean this is the right path for everyone.

Employers are not going to look at a gap in your CV to travel and think “this person has taken a break and therefore hasn’t had enough work experience for this job” they’re more likely to think “wow, this person traveled for a year, I wonder what that was like? I wander what they learned?”

You’re going to return to the world of work with a happy heart and a clear mindset.

If a company are concerned about you taking time out to travel, that to me says they are too career demanding and are they really a company you want to work for?

4. It’s not safe

Turn on your TV and switch over to your local news channel and pay attention. How many stories are you hearing about violent crime, theft and storms? You live in a pretty dangerous town, how do you even step outside your door each day?

Hmmm, you just swallow your fear and do it because if you don’t, then you’re not living.

What’s so sad about these sensationalized stories – which depict only a small truth to the reality – is that they prevent many people from having life-changing travel moments.

You can face just as much crime, natural disasters, illness and injury in your own backyard as you can traveling.

Sure, we wouldn’t recommend hitchhiking in Somalia, but most of the time, first time travelers will go somewhere considered pretty safe.

Always do your research on safety before any trip, but don’t let it put you off going.

A better idea is to focus instead on what is positive. Take inspiration from our travel stories, 25+ years travel to 50 countries with barely a scratch.

We’ve mostly only ever experienced kindness, helpfulness, compassion, friendliness and laughter in our interactions with others.

There is nothing fearful or unsafe about the world when you look at it through the right eyes.

It is said that what you focus on you get. If you focus on danger and negativity then that is what you will attract.

If we discovered that the world is indeed beautiful and full of mostly good people, we might be more willing to do our bit to preserve this kind nature of our world and be the best person we can be.

To help you feel safer, here are some tips for safe travel, especially as a solo female traveler.

5. Not enough money

I have no money . I hear it all the time as to why people can’t travel. I even say it all the time as to why I can’t.

I’m not a fan of advising people to travel when they’re broke, it’s just not smart.

That being said, you don’t need a lot of money to travel. You can simply make money while you travel to overcome this barrier.

You can volunteer in hostels and exchange a few hours work for a bed for the night. You can take up fruit picking jobs, or teach English for a month, or try house sitting.

The ways in which you can make money on the road in this day and age is endless.

In September 2013 we left on an indefinite road trip around Australia. If you looked at our bank account, you’d laugh at the huge risk we have taken.

It wasn’t empty, there were reserves and no debt (thank God), but there was not enough to back us as a family traveling for a year-long road trip around one of the most expensive countries in the world.

It’s the scariest decision I’ve ever made and it it took all my strength to believe and trust.

Along the way we worked with brands and really worked hard on our blog and managed to make an income to keep us going. Our road trip lasted 18 months! Imagine the memories we would have missed if we didn’t go because we feared we wouldn’t have enough money. You just never know what might arrive and how you can create the money.

To help here are money saving tips for before and while on your trip .

6. Unfamiliar territory

Travel puts people outside of their comfort zone. It’s one of the most exciting parts of travel, in my opinion, but it can lead to anxiety or fear for others.

It’s the fear of the unknown that holds a lot of people back.

But let me ask you this; do you know what will happen tomorrow? do you know what will happen in five years?

You can’t predict the future no matter where you are in the world.

Yes, travel can be unpredictable, but isn’t that just life?

If you live your life in fear of the unknown, you’re going to live a pretty boring life, wouldn’t you say? Do you really want to know everything that’s going to happen?

7. Genuine fear

Of course, many people have a fear of travel. It’s called Hodophobia. Or some people refer to it as “trip-a-phobia.”

It’s usually associated with having a fear of flying, or a fear of boats – some form of transportation, rather than the fear of going away itself.

While this fear may feel overwhelming for a lot of people, it can also be overcome if you just gently ease into it.

Rather than jump on a plane, take a road trip. Rather than take a ferry across the English channel, take the Eurostar train instead.

Don’t put off traveling for fear, find a work around or try to overcome it.

I’ll be honest, I used to be terrified of flying, but I still did it anyway, because I knew getting to the other side was where the life changing moments were, and I did not want to let my fear get in the way and cause a regretful life.

It was only after at least 100 flights, and many hours of meditation, and reiki healings that the fear of flying slipped away. For a fun read, here are some flight rituals I have to keep the fear at bay.

Final Thoughts

It makes me cry sometimes to see people put off traveling for these reasons, and I just want to scream from the rooftops for everyone to just trust more and do what is really in your heart.

The only reason you are not having the life you truly love is because you are saying to yourself you can’t. You are saying you can’t based on fear and not truth.

Say I don’t know how this is going to work, but I want to so I’ll do it and figure it out along the way . Let the Universe help you.

What are some reasons you’ve heard about why people don’t travel? Let us know in the comments!

I hear it all the time; “I want to travel, but…” There is always something in the way for some people, and while their intentions may be to one day take that dream trip, for […]

After a frame of safety shots galore, O'Connor takes frame eight.

He establishes a four frame lead over his opponent, with play resuming tomorrow.

Breaks of 50, 105, 71 and 78 have secured some of those frames.

Back to table 2

Wilson leads 5-2 against O'Connor.

And he's closing in on frame eight, if only he will get through some pesky snookers.

Because that's what O'Connor is looking for, and it's all gone a bit cat and mouse on the green.

Bingham 5-3 Lisowski

The standard between Lisowski and Bingham has been incredibly high.

World no17 Lisowski raced ahead with breaks of 82 and 88,

Then, world no29 won five frames in a row - with breaks of 90 and 89 in there.

Lisowski wasn't done though. He fought back to win the last frame before the end of the session with a break of 51.

Play resumes tomorrow.

Jak Jones on his win

I feel relieved. It was an absolutely shocking match. Today was a little bit better but I don't know how I won. I don't think either of us were clinical, someone just had to win. "I won four black-ball games in the first session to be 6-2 up and even when the wall [screen] went up I didn't feel comfortable. You always want to play well if I'm winning when I'm not playing well there's a positive in that. "Judd and Ronnie are two of the best players in the world so it does not get any tougher than that. Everyone is expecting a Ronnie-Judd semi-final so I've got nothing to lose and I will just try my best and see what happens. "My goal is to get in the top 16 but it's very difficult. You're ranked where you should be. My consistency is not there."

Bingham 3-2 Lisowski

Bingham edges ahead.

While there has been some great moments for both players, it's also been a tad inconsistent.

An exhibition shot by Bingham at the end on the pink off three cushions fails to sink in the pocket.

But that's all academic.

Wilson 3-1 O'Connor

Kyren Wilson has made a solid start to this one.

The third frame brings the first century of the match - with Wilson scoring 105.

Wilson then won his third frame.

On the other table

Wilson has edged ahead of O'Connor

He leads by two frames to one now on table two.

Bingham 2-2 Lisowski

Lisowski somehow sees a pot squirm out of the pocket.

Bingham takes to the table to score 20, before having to play for safety.

Lisowski fails to slot a long red home, giving Bingham the opportunity to stake his claim for the frame.

Both men return to the table, with Jack losing a bit of his swagger and hitting a few loose ones.

Bingham, back at the table, then starts getting his score up again, and by the time a routine black is done he is in control.

At the interval, we are level.

Bingham 1-2 Lisowski

Bingham has stemmed the tide.

He has taken frame three, although it was only through Lisowski missing a routine red on 46.

Bingham replied with a stunning 90 to seal the frame. That's impressive stuff.

O'Connor and Wilson is underway.

It's the 2020 finalist Kyren Wilson who has taken the first frame.

He will have his eyes on the prize tonight.

Bingham 0-2 Lisowski

Well, Lisowski has flown out of the traps here.

A brilliant opening frame sees the world No17 record a break of 83.

He follows that up with 88 in the second frame.

Within the blink of an eye, Lisowski is two frames up.

Bingham v Lisowski

It is the eighth time that Stuart Bingham and Jack Lisowski have gone head-to-head,

Currently, Lisowski is a head 4-3.

Will Bingham make that 4-4?

This evening's matches

There are two matches to enjoy this evening.

Jack Lisowski will do battle with Stuart Bingham.

While Joe O'Connor will face off against Kyren Wilson.

Both have just got underway. Stay tuned for updates.

Maguire's on song

Stephen Maguire punched the air and rapped his knuckles on the table as he overturned a 63-point deficit to establish a 10-6 lead over chalkgate rival Shaun Murphy.

In this second-round Grudge Match, the Magician had done his own fist pumps at key moments and this riled the Scotsman, who just needs three frames on Sunday to progress.

Si Jiahui 9-13 Jak Jones

Last year's semi-finalist is out!

It's Jak who progresses, after holding his nerve.

He's had two appearances at the Crucible, getting to the quarters both times.

Big test next though against Judd Trump.

Higgins 4-4 Allen

And it’s the end of the session.

Higgins appeared to baulk with the frame at his mercy.

Allen raced through some reds for a run to 27, before playing safety on the final red.

Eventually, Higgins sinks a long red… finally! Rapturous applause follows, with the crowd knowing that’s the frame.

It’s level for now, until the overnight session that is.

Higgins 3-4 Allen

Higgins concedes the frame following a passage of play where his safety left an open red for Allen.

The frame began with Higgins, again wasteful from range, missing a long red.

Allen had raced to a 65 lead to ensure Higgins was needing snookers.

Si Jiahui 9-11 Jak Jones

Meanwhile, at the interval, Jones is on course for the qaurter-final.

He has taken a 11-9 lead at the interval against last year's semi-finalist.

It's not been a classic, though.

We haven't seen one frame with a break of over 50.

Higgins 3-3 Allen

And we're all square.

Higgins might not be finding his range from distance, but his short game is working nicely.

He builds up a 48 lead until over-running on the black and leaving himself with too fine a cut.

Allen takes the reprieve with both hands, or does he?

When it looks like he's going to win the frame building up momentum on 42, he just falls at the final hurdle.

A missed green sealed his fate, letting Higgins pot that, then blue for the frame.

Higgins 2-3 Allen

It appeared that Allen had given Higgins the advantage by blowing a routine red.

But Higgins struggles - he misses a long red by a country mile. We've seen him sink those.

Gives Pistol the opportunity to clean the table.

He doesn't quite manage it, but the break of 79 gives him the frame and the lead.

Trump reveal

Judd Trump has spoken more about the offer he received from China for a breakaway snooker tour.

"I don't know, I didn't even get that far," he said.

"I'm not interested one bit. I'm in my prime. If I was older and at the end of my career maybe it would be different, but I don't want to waste my prime on exhibition matches.

"I would be a lot happier winning my money than being gifted it. Where I am in my career, how I'm playing and the success I've been having, I feel I can earn this money and really have a sense of achievement.

"That's something my mum and dad would want as well. My mum and dad would be more proud if I did it that way."

Allen 2 -2 Higgins

A run of 47 is enough to draw Allen level at the interval.

He had earlier hit a brilliant blue that cannoned into the reds to set himself up nicely for the frame.

The Pistol was patient.

The World No3 Higgins has plenty to think about.

Si Jiahui 8 vs 10 Jak Jones

Another nervy frame this time ends in favour of Jones.

He kept his composure to pot two difficult reds which allowed him to clear up and take the frame 79-49.

Mark Allen 1 vs 2 John Higgins

A break of 73 sets up Higgins in the third frame.

Allen did have an opportunity to try and salvage the frame with snookers but was unable to put Higgins under pressure, who duly cleared up the rest of the table.

Celine Dion was diagnosed with Stiff Person Syndrome in 2022 and is opening up about how she’s learning to live with the rare autoimmune neurological disorder.

In a new interview, the Canadian singer discusses her health and says if she’ll return to touring.

Celine Dion Makes Surprise Appearance At The Grammys Amid Stiff Person Syndrome Diagnosis

She continued, “Five days a week I undergo athletic, physical and vocal therapy. I work on my toes, my knees, my calves, my fingers, my singing, my voice… I have to learn to live with it now and stop questioning myself. At the beginning I would ask myself: why me? How did this happen? What have I done? Is this my fault?”

Dion says she doesn’t have the answers as to why she got this illness and she only has two options, “Either I train like an athlete and work super hard, or I switch off and it’s over, I stay at home, listen to my songs, stand in front of my mirror and sing to myself. I’ve chosen to work with all my body and soul, from head to toe, with a medical team. I want to be the best I can be. My goal is to see the Eiffel Tower again!”

The “My Heart Will Go On” singer says that it’s her family, children, and fans that keep her strong and is grateful she has the means to have good doctors and treatments, adding, “I have this strength within me. I know that nothing is going to stop me.”

Since being diagnosed with SPS, Dion has been largely kept out of the public eye. In February of this year, she made a surprise appearance at the Grammys and presented an award to Taylor Swift .

When asked about getting back on stage and touring again, Dion said, “I can’t answer that… Because for four years I’ve been saying to myself that I’m not going back, that I’m ready, that I’m not ready… As things stand, I can’t stand here and say to you: ‘Yes, in four months’ [I will return]. I don’t know… My body will tell me.”

18 of the Best Van Life Blogs

The very best Van Life blogs provide a candid look into the who, what, where, how, and, for the love of God, why, of Van Life in a way that filtered Instagram posts and magazine articles about the vanlife one-percenters cannot.

Instagram’s #vanlife, at times, presents a laughable caricature of vanlife. A parody in which models pose topless on a mountaintop, just a blurred glimpse of a classic kombi in the background.

Magazines and online publications are fascinated with the extreme. A woman who has been living in a cardboard box taped to a unicycle for seventeen years. Or perhaps the 20-year-old couple who sold their tech start-up to tour the world in a double-decker wooden bus they carved themselves from a single sequoia. Spare me.

The best blogs tell us how it is for most of us. Practical information, authentic inspiration, and beautiful destinations without the bullshit.

So if you are looking for build advice, lifestyle guides, great van life destinations, or a bit of motivation, we have put together a list of the very best van life blogs and vanlife bloggers to help you get your daily dose of wanderlust.

Before we get started allow us to take a minute for a shameless plug… if you are looking for straightforward practical van life advice and inspiration, destination guides, and articles on living and working from the road, please take a moment to sign up for The Vanabond Tales newsletter .

* I have made an effort to reach out to the vanlife bloggers mentioned below for permission to use their photos. If you own one of the photos below and would prefer me not to use it here, please let me know .

Idle Bus Theory: The Best Van Life Philosophy Blog

You won’t find SEO articles and listicles (like this one) on Idle Bus Theory . Instead, you’ll find true blog-style posts built around experiences and photos that weave in the creators’ philosophy.

The blog chronicles the journey of couple, Kit Whistler – cartoonist, critic collector of words and J.R. Switchgrass – photographer, amateur mechanic, map reader as they travel the US in their classic VW, Sunshine. As they explore they develop and share their own philosophy on life balance.

Through their blog and other projects, Idle Bus Theory is a great reminder of why we pursue van life in the first place …to slow down and feel the sunshine.

Far Out Ride: Best Van Build Blog

FarOutRide is one of the best van life build blogs out there. Isabelle and Antoine take complex systems and break them down into easy-to-understand visual diagrams. They provide clear instructionals making the lofty ambition of a DIY van conversion achievable even for novice builders. We used their guidance during our own DIY van conversion and found their electrical system guide particularly helpful.

Gnomad Home: Best Build on a Budget Blog

Vanlifers (and vanlife bloggers) since 2017, Jayme and John’s blog, Gnomad Home , is a great place to start when pimping your ride. Particularly useful if your home on wheels is not a conventional panel van.

These guys focus on budget-friendly van builds which could come in handy if you are starting out on your first van build.

Gnomads articles are incredibly detailed, taking you through the endless possibilities of van choice, layout, and configuration step by step.

Green Van Go: Best Budget Van Life Blog

Green Van Go is all about hitting the road without going broke.

While van life is supposed to offer some relief from a capitalistic world, sometimes it’s easy to forget that. It can be hard to imagine taking up van life without taking out a loan when you look around the web. College kids driving brand new 4wd Mercedes Sprinters with all the bells and whistles or the couple who don’t seem to do anything but lie on the beach all day who owns a perfectly restored 1962 VW Kombi.

Never fear because Hilary is here to remind you that van life can and should be about more for less. To be clear, she’s not advocating cleaning your teeth with a pine cone or wringing out the washing to save water for tea. Before she took up the van life, Hilary came from a corporate background so she is familiar with running water and Netflix. She is, in her own words, a master at combining comfort and budgeting.

Mowgli Adventures: All Round How-to and Campervan Travel Blog

Mowgli Adventures   offer a great balance of DIY van build content, how-tos, lifestyle ideas, travel advice, and destination guides from exotic and off-the-beaten-path destinations.

Angela & Graham are the couple behind the blog, traveling full-time in their DIY Sprinter conversion. They go beyond van build guides and product reviews. They also share in-depth travel guides of the beautiful and unique destinations they explore. With posts from Europe, South America, Africa, and even Antarctica, if you are looking for authentic and exotic destination content Mowgli might be for you.

So We Bought a Van: Best Solo Female Van Life BlogGER

We love the personal (and hilarious) writing style of Katie who shares advice, stories and practical information on van build, van life, and travel.

So We Bought a Van includes all the useful information you would expect from a van life expert as well as personal reflections and stories from Katie’s life.

“So We Bought a Van” might sound like a strange name for a solo van life blog, but this adventure started with two. When Katie decided to carry on the van life alone, she took the van and blog with her, and So We Bought a Van has gone on to become an important voice for independent solo travel.

On The Free Side: Best New Van Life Blog

On the Freeside is a stylistically beautiful website with gorgeous photos, as well as a Youtube channel, a thriving Instagram page, and a popular Tiktok. Behind the brand are Indie and Joel, a Swedish couple who are primed to take the van life blog scene by storm.

Having only launched in June 2020 the amount of work and love they have put into their site and channels are truly impressive. With plenty of headings waiting to be filled in, they promise to deliver travel guides, van builds, and van life content as well as van life recipes and cooking inspiration. If they can deliver on that, they are sure to be huge.

Goats on the Road: Best Van Life Work Blog

Before you jump down my throat, I realize that Goats on the Road is not a van life blog. They are however the authority when it comes to making money while traveling. They have an absolute wealth of information when it comes to remote jobs and jobs you can do on the road.

If you are just starting to think about ways you can make money on the road to sustain van life and travel have a look at this article on the 10 Best Van Life Jobs .

Update from Abi 2022:

“ After 3.5 yrs traveling North America, living in a van with my wife, Natalie, it was time for a change from that 80 sq ft living space. Instead of settling down, we decided to get a second vehicle! My pup and I are now going solo in a vintage RV. Sometimes I’ll be caravanning with my wife, other times with my girlfriend, sometimes all of us together…that’s right, wife AND girlfriend. (YES, they are both aware + fully supportive). It’s called polyamory. Google it. 😉 “

Off the Grid with a Kid: Best Van Family Blog

Van life with children is challenging. Van life with kids means homeschooling, getting kids fed, and bathed, and keeping them happy and healthy on the road. Working while traveling or running a van life blog with a kid is even more challenging.

Often families who try their hand at van life do so for just a few months or a year before settling back down somewhere so the kids can get back to school and parents can go back to work. Not so for Bionca and her eleven-year-old son Carter who has been on the road for four years.

Besides an awesome blog name and Instagram handle, Off the Grid with a Kid is a great van life blog packed with authentic and inspiring content.

In addition to her blog, popular Instagram, and Youtube channel, Bionca is a life coach, public speaker, and aspiring author. While managing her many careers FROM THE ROAD this single mom and her son give back to the community through a variety of humanitarian projects. Excuse me, I feel a bit exhausted I need to lie down.

If you are looking for some serious motivation for van life with children, or if you have ever put off van life because *yoU doN’t HAve ThE tiME*, Bianca will inspire you, or at the very least shame you, into action.

Divine on the Road: Best Van Blog with a Dog

Divine on the Road has all the great practical information you’d expect from one of the best van life blogs on the internet. Here you’ll find build advice, lifestyle tips, and travel guides. But Sydney’s journey has been defined by one important feature, her dogs Ella and Pearl.

This blog has both dedicated articles on how to deal with pets on the road as well as build and lifestyle content from someone who actually travels full time with their dogs. Divine on the Road is perfect if you have been dreaming about taking Fido for an extended road trip.

Van Cat Meow: Best Van Blog with a Cat

Van Cat Meow has followed the adventures of Rich and his cat Willow since they quit the corporate world in 2014 to follow their dreams. In 2016, two became three when Steph (a human) jumped aboard.

Van Cat Meow focuses on stories and experiences as well as van build and van life posts, all with a feline angle of course.

We love the writing style and honest approach to blogging of Amber and Chris, creators of Always the Adventure .

Covering topics including climbing, sustainable travel, van builds, and remote work they provide practical and helpful information and inspiration written in a straightforward, accessible, and entertaining way.

SilenTravel: Best Black Identity Van Life Blog

SilenTravel is comprised of the letters of Sonia, an Italian blogger and content creator. She blogs about slow travel, which we love. Her writing is authentic and real, which we love as well. Sonia also takes beautiful photos to complement her writing.

Through her blog, Sonia shares her thoughts and opinions on identity, community, and race. She doesn’t pull any punches either as she offers a perspective that has been missing from the mainstream van life conversation. Sonia also uses her blog to raise awareness of the deaf community.

If you have been looking for a van life blog with a strong message and a focus on community and inclusion, this could be what you’ve been searching for.

From Rust to Road Trip: Best Van Life Vlog

Former journalist Kristin Hanes has been blogging about all things van life, sail life, and tiny homes since 2016.

In 2016, I had been dumped by my girlfriend, fired from my job, and the lease on my house was running out. Facing moving back in with my parents, 26, jobless and alone I decided to listen to the message the universe was trying to send me. I took off on my first solo backpacking trip, with a one-way ticket to Bangkok and a well-thumbed Lonely Planet guide. From there I wandered Southeast and Central Asia, traveled the Great Steppe, and made my way across Russia and throughout Europe.

In Estonia I met Kelli, who, despite having a less frantic travel style, shared my my restless spirit and passion for exploration. Together, we embarked on a new journey, van life. Over four years we travelled across three different continents with three different vans.

In 2022, as the world began to re-open post COVID we took an opportunity to realise a long held dream, to live aboard a sailboat. Since then we have spent two summers in the Mediterranean, sailing and living aboard our little sail boat Whisper. When we aren't sailing we continue to live our nomadic lifestyle, guided by a philosophy of slow travel and self directed adventure be it by van or backpacking.

We find excitement through our journey into the unknown, stillness and content in the beauty of the places we discover and we find ourselves in the vastness of our world.

Hopefully, we can help you find what you're looking for too. Get lost with us and find your own path.

Hey there! Great list and I follow tons of those bloggers myself. I’m Kristin from The Wayward Home and I live part of the year in my Sprinter van – my blog has tons of posts about van life if you want to add it 🙂 http://www.thewaywardhome.com

Hi Kristin, thanks for sharing! Awesome blog we have added it to the list!

I don’t have a blog but been living vanlife for 10 years in total and wrote a song about it😁 Living in a van / Jonah Lake https://open.spotify.com/track/5FpO7Im6mXSP6cy2dweNRx?si=_FZuIv9vSOuRUBSTfbeiRQ&utm_source=copy-link

Automatic Refunds and No More Hidden Fees: D.O.T. Sets New Rules for Airlines

The Transportation Department issued new requirements on refunds when flights are canceled or delayed and on revealing “junk” fees before booking. Here’s what passengers can expect.

A blue airport screen showing extensive cancellations and delays is shown in close up with a man standing in front of it.

By Christine Chung

The Transportation Department on Wednesday announced new rules taking aim at two of the most difficult and annoying issues in air travel: obtaining refunds and encountering surprise fees late in the booking process.

“Passengers deserve to know upfront what costs they are facing and should get their money back when an airline owes them — without having to ask,” said U.S. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg in a statement, adding that the changes would not only save passengers “time and money,” but also prevent headaches.

The department’s new rules, Mr. Buttigieg said, will hold airlines to clear and consistent standards when they cancel, delay or substantially change flights, and require automatic refunds to be issued within weeks. They will also require them to reveal all fees before a ticket is purchased.

Airlines for America , a trade group representing the country’s largest air carriers, said in a statement that its airlines “abide by and frequently exceed” D.O.T. consumer protection regulations.

Passenger advocates welcomed the new steps.

Tomasz Pawliszyn, the chief executive of AirHelp, a Berlin-based company that assists passengers with airline claims, called it a “massive step forward and huge improvement in consumer rights and protection” that brings the United States closer to global standards in passenger rights.

Here’s what we know about the D.O.T.’s new rules, which will begin to go into effect in October.

There’s now one definition for a “significant” delay.

Until now, airlines have been allowed to set their own definition for a “significant” delay and compensation has varied by carrier . Now, according to the D.O.T., there will be one standard: when departure or arrival is delayed by three hours for domestic flights and six hours for international flights.

Passengers will get prompt refunds for cancellations or significant changes for flights and delayed bags, for any reason.

When things go wrong, getting compensation from an airline has often required establishing a cumbersome paper trail or spending untold hours on the phone. Under the new rules, refunds will be automatic, without passengers having to request them. Refunds will be made in full, excepting the value of any transportation already used. Airlines and ticket agents must provide refunds in the original form of payment, whether by cash, credit card or airline miles. Refunds are due within seven days for credit card purchases and within 20 days for other payments.

Passengers with other flight disruptions, such as being downgraded to a lower service class, are also entitled to refunds.

The list of significant changes for which passengers can get their money back also includes: departure or arrival from an airport different from the one booked; connections at different airports or flights on planes that are less accessible to a person with a disability; an increase in the number of scheduled connections. Also, passengers who pay for services like Wi-Fi or seat selection that are then unavailable will be refunded any fees.

Airlines must give travel vouchers or credits to ticketed passengers unable to fly because of government restrictions or a doctor’s orders.

The vouchers or credits will be transferable and can be used for at least five years after the date they were issued.

Fees for checked baggage and modifying a reservation must be disclosed upfront.

Airlines and ticket agents are now required to display any extra fees for things like checking bags or seat selection clearly and individually before a ticket purchase. They will also need to outline the airline’s policies on baggage, cancellations and changing flights before a customer purchases a ticket.

The rules, which apply to all flights on domestic airlines and flights to and from the United States operated by foreign airlines, have varying start dates.

For example, automatic refunds must be instituted by the airlines within six months. But carriers have a year before they’re required to issue travel vouchers and credits for passengers advised by a medical professional not to fly.
