Dudhsagar Falls of Goa is a majestic waterfall where the white water gushing through the steep and vertical face of the mountain portrays a cascading effect. Catherine was known to be a spiritual pathfinder and raise her voice against the oppression of the Christians under the rule of Roman emperor Maxentius. She was so strong and logical with her arguments that the king himself was incapable of countering them and has a then he formed a committee of 50 philosophers to debate her ideas.However, even the assembly conceded defeat in front of her and confessed Christianity as their belief. Out of anger, the king burnt the philosophers alive and sentenced st.catherine to prison. Catherine did not give up, and she was succeeded in converting not only the jailers but also the king's wife. It is believed that she showed the path of Christianity to 200 people. Even when she was facing the worse condition of her life, she continued to stretch the word of Jesus. She was honoured with the title of"patroness of the wheel-wrights" because it is believed then when she was fastened to a spiked wheel as it was mentioned in her death sentence the wheel broke and she was left uninjured. And when she was finally beheaded, it is said that angle took her remains and laid them to rest atop Mount Sinai. When you visit the Se Cathedral, you can witness the Saint Catherine ornaments, a crown portraying her royal birth and has a book in her hands, which signifies her sound knowledge as she points a spiked wheel, which reveals her martyrdom.Se Cathedral HistoryThe Cathedral is devoted to St. Catherine of Alexandria, it is said that it was built to celebrate the victory of the Portuguese ruler Alfonso Albuquerque who destroyed the Muslim army and took ownership of the city of Goa. Consequently, it is also called St. Catherine's' Cathedral. In 1953, the Cathedral was presented with "The Golden Rose" by Venerable Pope Pius XII. It is a gold ornament, which the Popes of the Catholic Church have traditionally favoured and given as a symbol of devotion or affection.You can witness it as it is placed on the tomb of St. Francis Xavier. It was approved by Governor George Cabral to be spread in 1552 on the remains of an earlier structure. The formation of the church began in 1562. You will be filled with positivity when you will visit this sacred place.The architecture of Se Cathedral  The architecture of Se Cathedral is awe-inspiring and elegant. The architectural style is a blend of Gothic elements and typical Portuguese style, or you can say that the architecture style of the Se Cathedral is Portuguese-Manueline. There were two different techniques that were opted to make the church. The exterior was made in Tuscan style and the interior has been built in and Corinthian style. With dimensions of 250 feet long and 181 feet wide, this church has a  delightfully decorated entrance that measures around 115 feet in height. The church is amazingly decorated, yet the style is intriguing and simple. The Cathedral has been built on an elevated base of laterite, which is covered with the thick lime plaster.You can also see the bell tower which is located on the southern side of the façade. The building of the church is rectangular on the plan but has a cruciform layout in the interior. The main altar is devoted to Catherine of Alexandria, and you can also see several old paintings on either side of it. You can also see the Chapel, which is known as the Cross of Miracles, it is believed that there was an image of Christ that was said to have appeared in 1619.

Vasco Da Gama Railway Station ( code – VSG ) is another Major and prominently accessed station in Goa. 

The Vasco Da Gama station was part of the Marmagao via Vasco railway line. This line was hence previously known to be the main rail – line in the state, up until the main Konkan Railway line began in the year 1998.

The jurisdiction of the Vasco rails comes under the southwestern zone of Hubli, which now defers from the Madgao line. Moving on to our last Major station in Goa, we finally come to the Karmali Railway Station, which is some just about 8 km from Panaji, the capital of Goa. Hence this is a perfect platform and station to those who want to visit Panaji or the nearby areas of the Capital of Goa, which includes Old Goa.

The Station code of Karmali goes by (KRMI). This station also is after Pernem and Tivim when you enter through the North of Goa as its more in the central zone. Karmali is also under the jurisdiction of the Konkan Railway lines

Old Goa is around 2km away from karamali railway station. Old Goa has a number of the oldest and beautiful Churches in Goa and India. Some of the churches here are huge and all closely located to one another.

The third station, which is the Pernem Railway station. This station’s location is in Virnoda – Nagzor, a place of North Goa. The Station code regarding the Pernem Station is (PERN). 

Some trains that pass through this station include; The well known ‘Mandovi Express’ to Bombay and back as well as other cities. The Konkan Kanya Express, another popular train, Konkan Kanya Exp. Another one is the Goa Smprk K Exp, and Ltt Kcvl Express are just a handful to the rest which have not been mentioned. 

This railway line comes under the jurisdiction of the Konkan Railway as well. 

The town of Pernem is in North Goa and is under the Karwar railway division. As mentioned above, it comes this division comes under the Konkan Railway, a part of the zone of the Indian Railways.

The position of this railway is (59 ft) above the sea level. This station consists of two platforms. 

The Airport in Dabolim is 38 kilometers at a distance from this railway station.

The Pernem railway station is also popular since it is close to the beaches in the north of Goa such as Arambol , Mandrem and Morjim.

Thivim Railway Station

Having just two platforms to its name, the Thivim Station is by far the most important stop for trains coming in from the North into Goa. People wanting to travel North passing the Mandovi River, this is the ideal station to do so. This station is close to the taluka of Bardez, a poplar taluka in Goa. 

Tivim (Thivim) Railways was built on the rail route of India only after the Konkan Railway was structured in the 1990’s. 

The Konkan Railway links the two major cities of Mumbai and Mangalore to the west of India. On the west coast of India. This railway line passes through the Western Ghats high in the mountains of India. It also has around 90 tunnels and over a hundred bridges on its route to the west. The Konkan Railway via Thivim connects to It connects to the stations in Maharashtra as well as Karnataka. 

One of the highlighted facilities on offer at Thivim station is the Shravan Seva, which is a service that looks after senior citizens and to help the carrying of their luggage.

The driving distance between New Delhi and Goa is 1877 km,There  12 direct train(s) from New Delhi to Goa. These trains are Trivandaram Rajdhani (12432), Goa Sampark K Exp (12450), Kerla S Kranti (12218), Nzm Ers Duronto (12284), Mngla Lksdp Exp (12618) etc.Booking for Tatkal tickets start from one day previous to travel date, from New Delhi to Goa. In terms of speed, the best train running between New Delhi and Goa is Trivndrm Rjdhni.The minimum time a train takes to reach Goa from New Delhi is 25h 37m, which is to take Trivndrm Rjdhni from New Delhi to Goa.Approximate Fare Rs 2191.

Reaching Goa by train is quite comfortable as there are two main railheads serving the state, namely Vasco da Gama and Madgaon. These two railway stations are extremely well routed to other parts of the country via an extensive train network. On Daily basis trains from Delhi for Madgaon, where Goa Sampark Kranti Express and Trivandrum Express are the most prominent ones. Although Madgaon railway station is about 38 km away from Panjim, Vasco da Gama railway is approximately 29 km away. Goa is one of the most popular tourist destinations in India and well connected by trains from all other cities in India. Trains to Goa are mostly packed during the tourist season and its not easy to get tickets if you do not plan your trip well in advance. There are two major railway stations in Goa – Madgaon, and Vasco . Some trains also stop at  Thivim and Karmali . Goa railway stations are quite small. Most of them have either 2 or 3 platforms. Prepaid Taxi: You can get a prepaid taxi from all the major station in Goa. Since there is no Ola/Uber in Goa, there is hardly any competition and the taxi prices are quite high as compared to other tourist places in India. In Goa, the taxi usually costs 20-25 INR/Km.

Goa Miles App : The Goa Tourism department has started Goa Miles app which is alternate to Ola/Uber. You can get cheaper prices in this app than the prepaid taxi rate

Buses: The bus routes are short here, so you may have to change 2-3 bus to reach your hotel. Also in many parts of Goa the bus do not run after 8 pm.

From Panjim/Madgao bus stand you can take buses to respective locations such as Candolim, Anjuna, Calangute, Palolem etc.

Pilot : If you are traveling alone do not carry much luggage then you can hire a pilot who will drop you in his motorbike. They usually run at 10-15 INR per Km.
