Dubai: Saudi Arabia has rapidly developed its tourism sector and expanded its visa categories. This includes the eVisa for tourism, which is available to visitors from 49 countries.

Besides the new tourist visas, Saudi Arabia also has visas specifically for families, job seekers, investors and individuals seeking medical treatment in the country.

Visitors can apply for this visa through the eVisa platform for tourists - visa.visitsaudi.com or through the official visa portal from Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) - visa.mofa.gov.sa.

Before applying for the visa, it is important to ensure your passport is valid for six months. Otherwise, you will not be eligible.

According to the country's official unified government service portal - www.my.gov.sa, there are six visit visa types in Saudi Arabia.

So, if you are visiting family or coming to the country for a business trip, here is a rundown of the visas available for tourists and visitors in Saudi Arabia.

1. Transit visa

The transit visa allows individuals to pass through Saudi Arabia and is applicable for short stays of over 12 hours.

As per my.gov.sa, the transit visa application is an e-service, allowing the applicants to enter their data in the MOFA e-portal - visa.mofa.gov.sa, to obtain the Saudi Transit Visa. It is available to applicants of any nationality.

Estimated cost: SR300 (Dh293). This includes health insurance, which is mandatory for tourists in Saudi Arabia.

2. Tourist visa

In the past few years, Saudi Arabia has made it easier for tourists to visit the country through their eVisa platform. This online portal allows applicants to apply for a visa and get it issued within minutes. Tourist visas are divided into three categories:

A. eVisa or visa on arrival for tourists:

For the tourist, eVisa and visa on arrival is only granted to three specific groups:

• Visitors travelling from 49 eligible countries . • Permanent residents of the United States, United Kingdom and European Union (EU). • Holders of tourist or business visas from the UK, US or Schengen Area. To learn more about how you can apply for this visa, click here .

Estimated cost: SR480 (Dh469). This includes health insurance, which is mandatory for tourists in Saudi Arabia.

B. eVisa for GCC residents:

Residents of Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries are also eligible for a Saudi eVisa. However, only certain occupations can apply for eVisa.

GCC residents will have to apply for the visa through the eVisa platform visa.mofa.gov.sa

Estimated cost: SR300 Saudi riyals (Dh293), along with the health insurance fee.

C. Consulate visa

If you are not eligible for the Saudi eVisa, you can apply for a Saudi tourist visa through the Saudi mission in your home country.

According to Saudi Arabia's official tourism platform – visitsaudi.com – individuals must provide extra documents such as proof of accommodation in Saudi Arabia, a return ticket booking, proof of their employment and a current bank statement.

Estimated cost: Around SR460 (Dh449) – however, this is an estimated cost, and you may have to pay extra charges depending on your duration of stay, as it affects your health insurance cost, too.

3. Family visit visa

If you want to visit a family member living in Saudi Arabia, you can apply for a Family Visit Visa. For this visa, a family member residing in Saudi Arabia will have to sponsor your trip and they will send a visa application request to MOFA, through their visa portal – mofa.gov.sa. This visa is specifically for first-degree relatives like parents, wives or children.

Estimated cost: SR200 (Dh195)

4. Work Visit Visa

Saudi Arabia's MOFA also issues a work visit visa, and it is divided into two categories:

• Individual visits • Sectors and Organisations visits

This visa has certain conditions that you need to meet, such as having an original letter from a Saudi company providing the applicant's sponsorship or a certified and notarised copy of the applicant's university degree/diploma authenticated by Saudi authorities.

However, the pre-requisites for the visa may differ according to the application details, and you may be asked to provide extra documents by MOFA to verify your credentials.

Estimated cost: SR300 (Dh293).

5. Business Visit Visa

This visa is for visitors who want to visit Saudi Arabia for business purposes. However, for this visa, a Saudi company or institution will have to invite you and sponsor your visa. According to my.gov.sa, this visa is granted to specific professional qualifications. The application is reviewed on a case-by-case basis, according to MOFA.

Estimated cost: SR500 (Dh488)

6. Medical Treatment Visa

Visitors seeking medical treatment in Saudi hospitals will need to apply for a medical treatment visa, which MOFA issues. One of the main conditions for this visa is to have an official letter from Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Health.

Guide for UAE Residents: Understanding E-Visas for GCC Countries: Explaining Validity, Required Documents & the Application Process

Guide for UAE Residents: Understanding E-Visas for GCC Countries: Explaining Validity, Required Documents & the Application Process

The GCC countries, taking a cue from the widespread European Schengen visa system, have all agreed to introduce a unified tourist permit. This special visa will make it easier for people from the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Bahrain, Oman, and Kuwait to travel between these countries without any restrictions.

If you want to visit Dubai, this post is for you! Traveling to Dubai from Saudi is now easier than ever for ex-pats with Saudi Arabia Visa. In this post, I'll show why I say so. First and most importantly, Saudi Arabia citizens do not need a Dubai Visit Visa .

A UAE visa allows you to visit Dubai, Sharjah, Abu-Dhabi, Ajman, Fujairah, Al Ain, Ras Al Khaimah, and Umm al-Quwain. So, let's explore those options by starting with the fundamental question:

Visa Required: No Visa required Length of stay: 30 Days

Do Saudi Arabian Citizens Need A Visa For Dubai?

No , they don't. Citizens of GCC countries (the Gulf Cooperation Council), which includes Bahrain, Oman, Kuwait, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia, do not require a visa to visit the UAE. These countries have freedom of movement, meaning they do not need a pre-arranged visa.

Saudi Arabian or GCC nationals can enter the UAE with only their passport or their national ID. However, this is not applicable to the residents or long-term visa holders in Saudi Arabia or any GCC countries.

Everything You Need To Know About Traveling To Dubai From Saudi Arabia

There are a few things you need to know before traveling to Dubai. These things include:

Do I Need An UAE Tourist Visa If I Have A Saudi Arabian Residence Visa?

Yes, you do. The GCC residents who are not national citizens but work as high-level officials such as doctors, managers, engineers, public sector employees, and their families can have a 30-day non-renewable visa at all the airports in the UAE upon arrival.

Additionally, ex-pats living in the GCC countries are eligible to apply for a Dubai visa online or evisa .

However, you must also check the eligibility criteria for your specific country since some nationalities get a UAE Visa On Arrival at the airport.

Citizens of countries that are not eligible for a Dubai visa on arrival MUST get an evisa even if they are accompanied by a GCC citizen or national.

What Are The Type Of Dubai Visas?

Saudi Arabia residents can utilize several different types of Dubai visas. Each different type of visa to Dubai from Saudi Arabia can be applied for a specific purpose of visit or duration of stay. Some of the different visiting visas to Dubai for a stay are:

48-Hours Dubai Visa: Travelers with a 48 hours stopover or layover in Dubai can apply for this visiting visa to Dubai.

96-Hours Dubai Visa: Travelers with a 96 hours stopover or layover in Dubai can apply for this visiting visa to Dubai.

14-Day Single Entry Visa: Travelers that wish to visit Dubai for a short trip can use this visa, and you can stay in the country for a maximum of 14 days .

Short-Term Single Entry Visa: This tourist visa allows the holder to enter and exit Dubai once and stay for the duration of the visa's validity period, which is 30 days .

Short-Term Multiple Entry Visa: This tourist visa allows the holder to enter and exit Dubai multiple times during the validity of the visa, which is 30 days .

Long-Term Single Entry Visa: This tourist visa allows the holder to enter and exit Dubai once and stay for the duration of the visa's validity period, which is 90 days .

Long-Term Multiple Entry Visa: This tourist visa allows the holder to enter and exit Dubai multiple times during the validity of the visa, which is 90 days .

What Is The Difference Between A Single Entry Visa And A Multiple Entry Visa?

With a single-entry visa, you can only enter and exit the country once, whereas a multiple-entry visa allows you to enter and exit the country more than once. These different types of visas have certain eligibility requirements. Be sure to check them before you apply.

What Is The Validity of A Dubai Tourist Visa?

Depending on your plan, Tourist Visas to the UAE are valid for 30 days or 90 days , single entry, or multiple entries.

Recently, the UAE facilitated a five-year visa that enables tourists to enter numerous times on self-sponsorship and remain in the country for 90 days on each visit, which you can extend for another 90 days.

However, remember that this will depend on your nationality and eligibility for the visa. For example, nationals that can get a visa on arrival to Dubai can stay for either 30 days or 90 days .

Additionally, if you apply online through the ICP or GRRFAD website, you will get a Dubai visa valid for 30 days. And if you travel to the UAE with GCC citizens or nationals, you can get an entry permit for 60 days.

What Is The Visit Visa For Dubai From Saudi Arabia Price

The cost of a Tourist Visa for Dubai depends on which Tourist Visa you apply for. For example, a 30-day Single-Entry Dubai Tourist Visa costs SAR 255 (AED 250), and a 90-day Single-Entry Visa for Dubai costs SAR 612 (AED 600)*.

However, these costs are subject to change, so I recommend you check the Tourist Visa fees before you apply. OR apply with Atlys , where there are no hidden fees.

If My Visa Is Not Approved, Will I Get A Refund?

No, unfortunately, you will not. Please be clear the UAE government does not offer a refund for rejected visa applications, be it for any reason. Similarly, airlines or agencies might have their own policies. However, they usually do not offer a refund.

How Long Does It Take To Process A Dubai Tourist Visa?

You must be wondering how long the Dubai Tourist visa application processing will take. The visa processing time may differ, but it takes approximately 3-4 working days for them to process your Visa.

If you apply using Atlys , the visa application is easier and will save you time. It will also show you the estimated processing time it will take for your visa approval.

Additionally, if you have friends or family members that are UAE residents, they can apply for a Dubai Tourist Visa on your behalf.

Each airline has some conditions which you must meet for them to arrange your Visa. One of the conditions is flying with them. Etihad Airways , Emirates Airline , Fly Dubai , and Air Arabia offers visa services.

How To Apply For Your Dubai Tourist Visa Through Etihad Airways

The application process is very straightforward, and best of all, it‘s an online application. All you need to do is go to the Etihad Airways website and click on "Apply for UAE visa." This will redirect you to another website where you need to choose the type of visa you want to apply for; in this case, it's the Dubai Tourist Visa.

Next, you must fill out the application form (provide all the necessary details) and attach the required documents like your passport, passport photo, and flight ticket. Lastly, you must pay the application fees through the secure online portal and wait for your visa.

Suppose you're traveling to Dubai or stopping over in Dubai with Emirates. In that case, you can apply for and receive your UAE visa entirely online without submitting your passport for stamping. You can apply for your UAE visa through Manage your booking after booking your Emirates flight.

The online visa application service is available for residents and nationals worldwide.

This service is only available to passengers with a confirmed Emirates booking where an Emirates ticket has already been issued, and the flight itinerary includes the desired time in Dubai. The itinerary into and out of Dubai should be on one ticket (PNR), which must be an Emirates flight.

A minimum of four international working days before arrival in Dubai is required. However, Emirates recommends that you apply online as early as possible.

How To Apply For Your Dubai Tourist Visa Through Fly Dubai

This can be a bit tricky. You can't necessarily apply for the visa online through their website like with the other airlines. Instead, you need to contact a travel shop near you to see if they can help you with your Dubai Tourist Visa application. Unfortunately, only a few travel shops can help with your visa application for Dubai, so be sure you call to get all the relevant information.

Dubai Tourist Visa Processing Time Through FlyDubai

Your UAE visa application will take a minimum of 5 working days from the date of submission if you submit all the required documents.

How To Apply For Your Dubai Tourist Visa Through Air Arabia

Just like with FlyDubai, you can't apply online through the website. Instead, you need to contact the Air Arabia sales center near you. When you contact them, they'll tell you everything you need to know about applying for the Tourist Visa Dubai through Air Arabia.

Dubai Tourist Visa Through Agencies And Hotels

Licensed travel agents and hotels in the UAE can arrange a Tourist Visa if you purchase the ticket through them and maintain a hotel reservation with the specific hotel. When contacting the hotel or travel agency, ask them if they can make the visa application on your behalf.

They will likely also say if they can make the Dubai Tourist Visa application on your behalf on the website.

If they can apply on your behalf, you'll need to send through all the required documentation and information they might need during the application process.

You can also contact travel agencies in your country for any tourist packages available to the UAE in collaboration with a local tour operator.

It is essential to check the authenticity of the travel agents you're dealing with. Don't pay or send copies of your official documents until you are 100 percent sure the tour operator is genuine.

The best way to enjoy your vacation is to take a trip to Saudi Arabia. Before 2019, I wouldn’t have given such a statement so confidently. Earlier, Saudi Arabia was open only to pilgrimage and business meetings. But now, it has opened its borders for tourism also. It hence becomes one of the least explored countries in the world, but it is worth your every penny once you step into this beautiful land. Its beautiful landscapes, sea, deserts, mountains and bustling cities will make you want to stay back here forever. However, if you start exploring its different places, I am sure you will fall short of the days, as there is so much to see and experience. From extravagant skyscrapers and malls in Riyadh to industrial visits to Al Jubail, everything about Saudi Arabia is unique and exciting. So why waste your time? Get a Saudi visa from Abu Dhabi and live the royal life on your future vacation. Here are a few places you must add to your bucket list on your trip to this beautiful country.

The cultural hub in Saudi Arabia- Riyadh

The city of Riyadh can be defined as the heart of Saudi Arabia, as it still has yet to lose its traditional charm, even after adopting modernisation. The modern skyscrapers kissing the skyline is the evidence of its transition from a small village to a metropolitan city. Riyadh tops the list of places to visit in Saudi Arabia because of its historic charm and modern architectural buildings. Below are some of Riyadh’s top attractions, which you should not miss at any cost.

Al Masmark Fort

Built-in 1865 with clay and mud bricks, Al Masmark Fort is one of the most remarkable sites in Riyadh. It holds a prominent place in Saudi Arabia’s history and the kingdom that ruled the country at that time. The artefacts present here are an example of the country’s rich history and culture. Here you will find a mosque inside the fort and a luxurious room named Diwan that features elegant interiors along with a throne. There is no entry fee in this fort, and it is open to the public from Saturday to Thursday- 8:00 am to 9.00 pm, and Friday- from 4:00 pm to 9.00 pm.

King Abdulaziz Historical Centre

If you want to learn more about the country’s history and culture, King Abdulaziz Historical Centre, popularly known as National Museum, is the right place for you. Here you will find sculptures, artefacts, ornaments and antiques that tell the stories of the country’s rich culture and tradition. In addition, they have mini-theatres that display audio and video tours of the country. Apart from that, the museum has eight galleries, a mosque and a park, where the visitors can lavishly spend a whole day. It is free for children but will charge SAR 10 for adults. The timings are from Monday to Thursday- 8:00 am to 8:00 pm, Friday- 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm, Saturday- 8:00 am to 8:00 pm and Sunday- 8:00 am to 2:00 pm.

Al Faisaliah Centre

Another place to visit to experience the architectural skills of Saudi Arabian people is the Al Faisaliah Centre. It is home to the fourteen tallest building in Saudi Arabia, a 240 m tall tower with a glass ball suspended from its pointed top. There is also a dine-in restaurant at its top, which serves European cuisine and offers a 360-degree view of the city through its glass panels. In its basement, there is a mall where you can shop as per your taste and comfort. In short, it is an ideal place to sit back and relax in Saudi Arabia.

Deerah Souq

If you have plans to buy antiques from Saudi Arabia, Deerah Souq has unlimited options. It is an old traditional market in Riyadh, where you will find many goods that are examples of the country’s rich heritage. It is also known as Al-Thumairi Souq and has many vibrant retail shops lined up in its narrow path. It is the perfect place to hunt for good quality carpets, silver jewellery, traditional clothing, antiques, arts and handicrafts. This place is also famous for its unique gold collection. The best part is it is open all seven days, 24 hours.

The cosmopolitan delight of Saudi Arabia- Jeddah

Jeddah is the second largest city in Saudi Arabia and depicts the country’s rich history and culture as it slowly adopts modernisation. You can define it as a beguiling city as you can see here the perfect blend of historic and modern attractions. Its art galleries, museums, cafes, picture-perfect coastlines and tranquil beaches make it a must-visit place in Saudi Arabia. It is much more liberal towards tourists compared to other parts of Saudi Arabia. Here are a few places that you can explore on your Jeddah trip.

Athr Gallery

Art lovers are surely going to fall in love with this gallery. Here you can see a few fine and intrinsic works by renowned artists from all around the world. Its scenic location, and tranquil vibes draw your attention like any other tourist destination. The mosque here is built in such a way that it appears like it is floating in the water. As a result, it has now become the trade and commercial hub of the country. Apart from that, the place has some scenic beaches, entertainment parks, historical and cultural areas and picturesque islands, making it one of the top visited locations in Saudi Arabia. According to the Dubai Police, offenders will be subject to a minimum fine of Dh5,000 and up to three months in prison. Those who organise begging activities and bring individuals from abroad to engage in begging shall be punished with imprisonment of no less than six months and a fine of not less than Dh100,000.

Al Shamsi strongly advised the public not to interact with alleged beggars out of pity. He encouraged them to report any illegal activities or begging by calling 901 or using the 'Police Eye' service on Dubai Police smart app. He underscored donations must be made to registered and legitimate charitable organisations to ensure that their contributions will rightfully reach the needy and not dubious individuals or groups.
