Discovery 1 cruise control not working

Cruise control not working. It's a very late model 300tdi ES auto. Seem to remember it worked when I bought the car about 10 years ago but never really bothered with it - would like to get it going, it's the latest thing on a long list I've been working through!

So far I've replaced all the vacuum hoses - including the one to the brake pedal.  Taken the pump out, direct wired to a 12v battery and system vacuums up ok - can see the bellows contracting, pump works ok etc. I've now replaced the pedal switch with a new one, still no joy. There didn't seem to be anything wrong with the old one (on a visual inspection) but it was the cheapest part to replace. I've checked all the brake lights, they work ok - I'm not sure if that would make a difference but checked anyway. ABS light comes on with ignition, goes off when moving etc all as it's supposed to. CC switch lights up when button pushed so power to there. It just doesn't do anything when I try to set it with the steering column switches. Noted that speed needs to be above 28mph so made sure I was going over that when testing.

So, where do I go from here? I'm not an electrician but I tend to think it might be an electrical fault. Is there an easy way to check this (don't have a multimeter).

Over the years the only things I've changed have been installing a tow bar (LR specialist fitted) and I did have the brake light switch replaced - not the CC one - when I realised I had no brake lights! (dealer fitted at same time as MOT). Not sure either of these would be a cause but I'm noting it to give the full story.

Any ideas gratefully received! Have been looking through loads of posts on various forums about this, most seem to suggest hoses or brake light switch - but that doesn't really help me i'm afraid.

It could be the clock spring in the steering wheel these often cause various problems

Cruise Control Troubleshooting

Alright guys, I’m finally getting around to tackling my non-functional cruise control. Light on the dash works and illuminates. So no issues there. Next step was to replace all of the vacuum lines on the passenger side cruise control equipment. All in all there were three lines I believe, a thick line that went from the cruise control module to the actuator, and then two smaller lines on the module itself. Checked all fuses, all are good to go. So what’s next? I did all of that and still nothing. I’ve heard there’s something behind the brake pedal, but then seen others say that our discovery 2s don’t have that. Any thoughts? I’m at a dead end otherwise.  

Haha if you find out let us know, because I’m dead ended there myself, but my D2 isn’t my daily so I gave up easily  

We use the D2 for road trips, so it’d be nice to have it on cruise control every now and again. Is that seriously the extent of the troubleshooting??  

Mmm. It’s the extent of the troubleshooting that I could think of/ cared to do  

Sometimes those fuses are bad but no fault can be seen by the naked eye. You might try replacing some with new fuses and see if that helps.  

Hmm good call. I’ll give that a shot. The only fuse is the horn fuse in the engine bay correct?  

If the horns are working that circuit is ruled out, the CC fuse is F30. The brake pedal switch has a N/C contact which is used by the cruise controll ECU which must be closed when the pedal is untouched, the clutch pedal switch(if the transmission is manual) is involved too, you can check the inputs with dedicated diagnostic tool or with a multimeter if you know how based on the diagram

Sierra, If the brake lights work, wouldn’t that imply that the switch is working? I’ll check either way tomorrow with my iLand and see if that yields any results. I could also just go ahead and buy the switch, looks like it’s only $20.  

Mine is not working either. The only thing I did was to put Led bulbs in. Took them out and put regular bulbs in but that made no difference. Still no CC. I've swapped or replaced fuses, relays, hoses and vacuum bell. Still won't work. The only thing I haven't removed (yet) is a flasher device for the third eye brake light. That may be next. I'm open to amy suggestions. @

The trains and stations of the Moscow Metro

The Moscow Metro is the third most intensive subway system in the world after Tokyo and Seoul subways. The first line was opened on May 15, 1935. Since 1955, the metro has the name of V.I. Lenin.

The system consists of 12 lines with a total length of 305.7 km. Forty four stations are recognized cultural heritage. The largest passenger traffic is in rush hours from 8:00 to 9:00 and from 18:00 to 19:00.

Cellular communication is available on most of the stations of the Moscow Metro. In March 2012, a free Wi-Fi appeared in the Circle Line train. The Moscow Metro is open to passengers from 5:20 to 01:00. The average interval between trains is 2.5 minutes.

The fare is paid by using contactless tickets and contactless smart cards, the passes to the stations are controlled by automatic turnstiles. Ticket offices and ticket vending machines can be found in station vestibules.
