How Much Does a Holy Land Tour Cost?
How much am I going to spend? It’s the most important question on any traveler’s mind. But not all Holy Land tours are created equal. And the cost is not necessarily tied to the quality of the tour.
So, how much does a Holy Land tour cost? The average cost for a standard tour of the Holy Land, without airfare, is $300 a day per person. Assuming you opt for a roommate throughout the trip. A luxury trip runs around $850 per day per person. An economy trip is about $150 per day per person.
Besides the obvious quality of life differences, the underlying variances can be problematic if you are looking for a theological experience.
What does a tour package include?
All tour packages include a double occupancy room with your spouse, if you are married, or a roommate. Rates go up if you opt for a single-occupancy trip. For luxury trips, this is usually around $2500 to $3,000 on top of the trip cost.
Providing ground transportation to and from the airport is the standard. No tour company is going to make a customer figure out how to navigate a city they aren’t familiar with. They’d get annihilated on Yelp or Trip Advisor.
Two meals a day are typically provided through the hotel accommodations. By the end of your trip, you’ll be wavering on which breakfast buffet was the best. Dinners are often buffet style as well but sometimes are served family-style. Occasionally there is some skimping, but generally speaking, you’ll be well-fed. Lunch is often on your own.
The tour bus is part of the package. Buses can vary depending on the size of the group. The most common tour bus used is a motorcoach, like a Greyhound bus. Don’t worry, though; drivers keep their vehicles clean. The tour guide will have access to a microphone so everyone can hear as well. Some busses are equipped with WiFi and electrical outlets.
Park passes are also included. The sites in Jerusalem are free. However, almost everything outside the city is under the national park system. But there is no need to worry about having the cash to get in. Your tour leader will have your passes pre-bought and ready to go.
The only thing not covered is airfare. For almost every tour package, you’ll have to buy your tickets separately. Sometimes, church specific tours will include airfare so the group can travel together.
What sites are on a decent Holy Land Tour?
Israel is full of religious and religiously significant sites to see. You won’t be able to get all of them in on a ten-day trip. But there is a bit of a standard for Christian Holy Land tours.
Every trip will include Caesarea , a port city that Herod built to honor Caesar. Despite Herod’s reputation for being a horrible person and a diabolic ruler, he chartered many impressive engineering projects. One of these is Caesarea, in which he had his palace built on top of the water. By modern standards, that doesn’t sound remarkable; however, in the first century, it was.
Many of these tours travel through Acre (ancient Akko) on the way to Nazareth and Galilee . In Galilee, you’ll stay in Tiberias . You will visit Capernaum , the home town of Peter. Tabgha , the traditional site of the feeding of the five thousand. The Mount of Beatitudes . And a boat ride on the Sea of Galilee.
Some tours hit the Golan Heights to view Mount Hermon. Usually, the nine- or ten-day trips.
Then it’s off to Jerusalem . The list of sites in and around the Old City is long. Every trip will stop at the Israel Museum to see the Dead Sea Scroll exhibit. The Holocaust Museum might be included, as well.
In the Old City, you’ll see the Temple Mount , the Western Wall , the Church of the Holy Sepulcher , and walk the Via Del Rossa . On the way to The Mount of Olives , you’ll stop in the Kidron Valley at the Church of All Nations to see the Garden of Gethsemane .
Depending on the theological commitment of the tour, you may or may not stop by the Garden tomb .
Next, you’ll make your way east to the Jordan River, stopping in Jericho on the way. It’s hot, so be prepared. Before dipping in the waters of the Dead Sea , you’ll climb Masada . Don’t worry; there’s a cable car to the top if you don’t want to hike it.
Last but not least, you will stop at the baptismal site at the Jordan River. Then onto Qumran to see how the Essenes lived.
What’s So Special About Luxury Holy Land Tours?
The only advantage of a luxury tour is the accommodations. They’re better than the so-called “5-Star” hotels listed on the Economy and Standard tours. The accommodations are the sole reason why these tours cost so much. There is nothing special about the itinerary.
A quick look at the itineraries for the luxury tours I researched revealed fewer site visits. They only hit the major sites, opting for more personal time to shop and sightsee on your own.
Another problem is the theological focus of the trip. These tours are geared towards religious faith in general. Some luxury, as well as economy tours, will stop at the Baha’i Shrine near Haifa . Baha’i is a pluralistic religion founded in the 1800s which celebrates the worth of all religions.
None of the Luxury tours I researched stopped at the Kabballah center , but many economy tours do. Some of the standard tours do as well. Any tour which has either of these sites on them is not going to have a solid theological focus.
As far as the tour guides themselves. The companies I researched did not introduce their guides or they provided very little information on the guides they employ.
If you are deeply committed to walking a life for Christ and want a tour focused on truth, I recommend staying away from the Luxury tours.
What is missing on the Economy Tours?
Many of the economy tours bill themselves as ‘luxury’ tours. They tout 4- and 5-Star accommodations. Something to understand is that every tour is paying the same price for transportation and site admission. The primary difference is the accommodations.
As far as the itineraries, the economy tours appear to hit more sites than the luxury tours. The reason for this is that luxury tours are geared towards travelers with expendable income. They want to visit, AND they want to shop. Economy tourists typically don’t have the extra money to shop. So, they aren’t given much time to do so.
The economy tours suffer the same theological focus problems as luxury tours. Most economy tours are facilitated by in-country tour companies. Tour guides will know the religious landscape. However, they will most likely not have the education to provide a quality experience.
The fact that the Baha’i Gardens are on many itineraries shows the lackluster theological commitment. If you are on a budget, you may have to settle for an economy tier tour. My recommendation, though, is to start a saving plan to work towards a Standard tier tour.
What makes the Standard tours so much better?
There are a few US-based companies that coordinate travel for church groups. They are typically Christian organizations designed to help pastors, church leaders, and scholars build a trip.
When a pastor, or leader, wants to lead a tour, they will offer spots to their congregation first. Or to people they know through their network of friends and associations. Sometimes, when they need more people for a trip, the company will advertise the trip on their website.
Many of these companies also run tour groups of their own. They will hire experienced pastors, church leaders, or scholars to lead these trips. Having a seminary-trained tour leader will focus the trip and provide a better experience.
These pastor-lead tours are the ones you want to look for. If you come across one through your church community or network of friends, your ears should perk up.
The cost for a standard tier tour is between $250 to $350 per day per person. Or an average of $300 per day per person. This range aims for accommodations solidly in the 5-star level. Tour companies want to ensure the experience is not distracted by poor quality of life for their travelers.
What probably breaks standard tier hotels out from economy tier hotels are the meals.
There are some standard tier tours out there that are not theologically focused, so be aware. One differentiating factor you need to look for is whether the company is a “general” travel group vendor. As in, they offer group packages for locations all around the world. Or if they are a specialized Christian tour company. A second determining factor is the itinerary. If the Baha’i Gardens or the Kabbalah Center are on the list, look elsewhere.
Diving Deeper.
Let’s say you want a really special Holy Land Travel experience. Or maybe you lead trips and want to develop your craft. What you need is a study tour. A study tour is characterized by the fact that it is attached to a for-credit course. Or, it is itself a for-credit course through an academic institution. One such institution is Jerusalem University College (direct link to juc.edu) or the JUC.
The JUC is located in Jerusalem. It is accredited to offer master’s degrees and certificates in biblical geography and history. They also offer a couple of for-credit courses that anyone can take.
The 3-week Historical and Geographical Settings of the Bible course introduces students to the geography of the land. An academically qualified instructor will teach the course. Students will visit dig sites and various locations that regular tours will not go.
An example is the Valley of Elah , where David and Goliath fought. You will stand on the hill where Saul and his army camped. When you see how small the valley is, your understanding of the story in 1 Samuel will become real.
The 2-week Jesus and His Times course takes students through the physical path of Jesus’s ministry. Many of the sites overlap with the 3-week course, but the curriculum is different.
The JUC also offers a non-credit course for pastors. The course is a shortened version of the 3-week course.
These courses/tours are quality tours. You will not find anything better. The JUC’s theology is focused and on the mark. Also, the faculty instructing the courses are well trained and knowledgeable.
Anyone can take these courses. If you are in an academic program, and desire to take a course for credit, talk to your school. If you just want to go deeper, contact the JUC through their website for more information.
How much does a study tour cost?
If you choose to go with the JUC, the overall costs are not much different from the Standard Tier tours. But the per day costs are less. For their 3-week course with on-campus housing, the cost is $3,600, excluding airfare. So about $170 per day per person. This price also includes accommodations on the Galilee and Negev studies. There are also hotel options for couples while in Jerusalem.
The 2-week course with on-campus housing runs around $2,420, excluding airfare. So about $170 per day per person. Accommodations for the Galilee tour are included in the cost.
Three meals are included in the price as well. The JUC can offer these rates for a couple of reasons. One, they manage their own campus housing. So, no maid service. And two; they plan, staff, and execute the courses/tours on their own.
One note on the JUC courses. Because of the geographical nature of the curriculum, there are a couple of trail hikes on the itineraries. They are not hard, but if you have health issues or can’t make the hikes, that is not a problem. You can stay on the bus and travel with the driver to pick up those who went on the hike at the finish.
The JUC does not provide transportation to and from the Airport. However, they do provide directions on how to obtain transportation upon arrival. On departure, they will set transportation up for you, but you will have to pay. It’s roughly $35-$40 each way.
Final Thoughts.
The major factor affecting the cost of all these trips comes down to accommodations. Once we look beyond that, it becomes clear which tours to look at. Overall, paying between $250 to $350 per day per person is the range you want to expect.
Your first option is to seek a Holy Land tour through your church or network of friends. The next option is to check out the tours offered on Christian travel sites.
Before signing up for a trip, though, contact the site to inquire about the tour leader or leaders. Find out their background and qualifications for running a tour group.
Your last option is to do a study tour.

Featured Sites in Israel
Explore a vast selection of beautiful historical and Biblical locations throughout Israel with our Israel Holy Land tour. You can visit Jerusalem, Galilee, and parts of Samaria, getting the life-changing opportunity to see where Jesus and many other Biblical figures lived and walked. We even offer Holy Land tours that allow you to see the Dead Sea, the Garden Tomb, and the Jordan River Baptism Site. Like all of our Europe tours , our Israel Holy Land tours are led by local guides who have extensive knowledge of the area and its history. If you want to experience the history of Israel and see the Bible come to life, our Holy Land tours give you that opportunity.
The city of Jerusalem offers a unique convergence of Judaism, Christianity, and the Muslim faith. For Christians who visit Jerusalem, you will learn about many stories of the Bible while walking her streets. Many actors in the Bible such as Abraham, King David, King Solomon, the twelve disciples and Jesus all lived, visited, or spent time there. The Passion week of Christ will be highlighted during our stay as we visit the Mount of Olives, the Garden of Gethsemane, the Western Wall, the Way of Suffering, and the Garden Tomb.
Sea of Galilee
Nowhere in Israel does the Bible come to life more than along the shores of the Sea of Galilee. Pilgrims who visit the Galilee region have the opportunity to imagine what life was like 2,000 years ago and what Jesus and the twelve disciples experienced while fishing on the Sea of Galilee. The peaceful setting and the natural wonders of the Golan Heights to the east and Mt. Arbel to the west make for a great way to start your morning in quiet reflection. During our tour, we explore the Biblical towns of Capernaum, Magdala, and Nazareth and take a meaningful cruise on the Sea of Galilee.
The Dead Sea is not only the lowest and most lifeless lake in the world, but also nearly 10 times saltier than the ocean. Travelers will enjoy the beautiful colors of the blue water and the red mountains of Jordan to the east. Take time to enjoy a once-in-a-lifetime Dead Sea “float” either in the sea itself or at one of the warm salt water pools at our hotel. The Dead Sea experience is truly a bucket list visit you won’t want to miss!
Garden Tomb
Our visit to the Garden Tomb and its surrounding gardens is normally one of the highlights of our tour to Israel. The Garden Tomb is a rock-cut tomb in Jerusalem that was unearthed in 1867 and is considered by some Protestants to be the site of the burial and resurrection of Jesus. Our visit offers a unique time of prayer, reflection, communion, and praise, which will be a special life-long memory for many travelers.
Jordan River Baptism Site
The Jordan River Baptist Site or “Yardenit” is a baptism site located along the Jordan River just south of the Sea of Galilee in northern Israel. This site is frequented by Christian Pilgrims who enjoy imagining the setting of the baptism of Jesus. For anyone who would like to be baptized in the Jordan River, Yardenit has been developed to be a peaceful setting with beautiful gardens, clean colored water, changing facilities, showers, and a nice souvenir shop.
Caesarea Philippi
To many Pilgrim travelers, Caesarea Philippi is a special surprise while on their tour. Located along the rushing springs of Mt. Hermon, the beautiful and natural setting is where Jesus asked his disciples “Who do men say that I am?” He asked this question while observing the pagan worship of the god Pan as worshipers offered their sacrifice at the “Gates of Hell.” Our time at Caesarea Philippi is one of many opportunities throughout our tour to see the lessons and message of the Bible come to light in a special way.
Israel Tours: Frequently Asked Questions

If you want to enjoy a peaceful tour with fewer crowds, consider visiting between December and February or June and August. We offer Israel and Jordan tours throughout the year, so you can select a trip that works for your schedule.
How many days do you need for a Holy Land tour?
We offer several types of tours of the Holy Land, so the duration of your tour depends on the tour package you choose. The Best of Israel Tour is our most basic offering and includes a Sea of Galilee boat ride, a trip to the Jordan River Baptism Site, the Dead Sea, and many opportunities to walk on the same land Jesus walked on. This is our shortest trip at just 9 or 10 days. Our most involved trips allow you to experience a wide range of historical locations over the course of a few weeks. Egypt tours are included in some of these packages, as well as tours in Greece and other countries. What is the dress code in Israel?
The dress code in Israel is different from other parts of the world. There are a few dress code basics you should understand before booking Israel tours: When you’re in Israel, there is no strict dress code. You can wear what you feel comfortable wearing. However, both men and women should try to dress conservatively and cover their shoulders and knees when visiting any of the religious sites throughout Israel. Generally speaking, it’s best to avoid tank tops and shorts. Men need to cover their heads when visiting the Western Wall. Pilgrim Tours provides a Pilgrim Tours ball cap upon arrival in Israel, but you might consider purchasing an affordable kippa that you can bring when you visit Jewish sites. Some places may offer a free kippa, but these are generally low quality. (Women are not required to cover their heads at any sight.) You can figure out what you need to pack and how to dress each day by looking at the itinerary for our Holy Land tours. Guides normally offer guidance on how to dress for the next day while on tour. We also suggest looking at the extended weather forecast as you prepare and pack for your trip.
Is there a lot of walking involved on an Israel Tour?
Our Israel tours do require a significant amount of walking each day and you should be able to walk unassisted 3-4 miles per day on average. Make sure you have a comfortable pair of shoes that provide adequate support. While there are bus and boat rides during these tours, you have to walk quite a bit to explore some of the Biblical sites. Our tour guides normally give the group a few options at sites for those that have physical limitations. One thing to keep in mind is that there are many hills and valleys in Israel which can make walking even more taxing. The amount of walking you have to do may vary based on the tour you take, so look at the itinerary before choosing your tour. The good news is that Israel is a beautiful country to see on foot, and you’ll have several opportunities to sit down and give your feet a rest. As long as you have a good pair of shoes and comfortable clothes, it’s easy to forget about all the walking you’re doing and enjoy the tour.
What passport & visa information do I need for your Israel tours?
U.S. citizens need a valid U.S. passport with at least six months validity beyond their intended stay to enter Israel. Make two photocopies of your passport. Leave one copy at home and carry the other separately from your original. Israel: U.S. and Canadian Citizens do not need a Visa when entering Israel. Non U. S. /Canadian Citizens are responsible to fulfill appropriate entry requirements of destination. Contact your Consulate office for requirements.
What common languages will be spoken during your Israel tours?
Hebrew, Arabic and English.
What currency can I use on your Israel tours?
The U.S. dollar is widely accepted across Israel, and we suggest bringing about $30 for each day you’ll be on tour. U.S. dollars are recommended for use for small purchases and lunches. Lunches typically cost $15-20. It is important to bring about 20 $1 bills as some bathrooms charge a small fee for use. Credit cards may also be used for larger purchases. ATMs in Israel are all connected to European and American banking systems. Please be advised that the ATM machines dispense money in SHEKELS – NOT U.S. DOLLARS. Please notify your bank before traveling overseas.
Do I need to bring a converter for the Israel tour?
Israel uses the European plug with two round pins. You will need to bring along the necessary converters and adapters to operate any 120 volt appliances such as hair dryers and electric razors as well as camera and cell phone chargers. Electricity in Israel is 220 volts 50 Hz.
What is the time zone for your Israel tours?
The time zone for Israel is seven hours ahead of EST and two hours ahead of GMT.
What climate should I expect during your Israel tours?
In Israel the climate is temperate, and temperatures all year-round are reasonable. Israel has two main seasons: winter (from November to March) is cold and rainy in most parts of the country; summer (from April to October) is hot and dry with little or no rainfall. The desert areas can be extremely hot in summer time.

How Much Does a Trip to the Holy Land Cost?
First things first, it’s important to know that your church trip to the Holy Land will be priceless. Memorable, inexplicable, beautiful. The cost of Holy Land tours is important, but there’s much more to consider when weighing your options and deciding on packages.
On your Holy Land trou, you’ll read from Scriptures while sailing the Sea of Galilee, float on the Dead Sea, or feast on the delicious daily Mediterranean breakfast and dinners (included in your tour package).
Here are some of the questions you’re likely already asking as you begin to plan your church or small group trip to the Holy Land.

Sites to See On a Holy Land Tour
Holy land tour packages, benefits of taking a holy land tour with your church small group, create a tailored holy land experience with tradition tours.
Lead your group from the Mount of Olives to the Gates of Jerusalem along the triumphant path of Jesus. Explore the sites, sounds, and tastes of the Bible in the Holy Land, from Bethlehem to Capernaum to the Via Dolorosa in Jerusalem and much more!
As you’ll discover as you browse the Tradition Tours website and look at a number of our Holy Land Tour packages , the cost can vary depending on the length of time and the number of people. Other factors, such as time of year and destinations, can (and will) impact the bottom line, too.
In general, the average cost for a standard tour (without airfare) is between $2400 to $2900.
A luxury trip cost per day per person will cost approximately $900 a day, while an economy trip will be closer to $350 per day per person. Of course, these are estimates and subject to change based on many factors
Most of the Holy Land Tour packages that you’ll find with Tradition Tours range from one to two weeks or 7-15 days, with our 10-day tours being the most popular for church groups and families.
In order to experience as much of the Holy Land as possible, we recommend planning at least 10 days. Of course, the longer you’re in Israel, the more you can see and experience. But most of our tours are able to pack multiple locations into each day,
For instance, on our 10-day Holy Land Foundations tour, your group will experience the Dead Sea, Qumran, and Masada in one day. But you’ll also spend most of two full days in the city of Jerusalem. Each day is packed with amazing sites and experiences.
Keep reading this article, and we’ll give you the links to all of our most popular tour packages.
There are many factors that impact the cost of your trip to the Holy Land. While some of these factors may seem obvious and straightforward, others may be things you’ve forgotten or didn’t know to factor into the overall cost.
For instance, while the quality of the hotel (4-star or 5-star) will obviously impact the overall cost of your trip to the Holy Land, unexpected expenses such as travel visas to enter a country can add up. There are certain countries (notably, Egypt and Jordan) where, in order to get permission to enter, you need to pay a visa fee – which can be arranged for you by Tradition Tours.
While usually not overly expensive, such unknown costs can add up throughout your trip.
One cost to consider in addition to your total package cost is airfare. We generally advise churches to add $1200 to $1400 per person to fly to Israel. There are many factors that can impact the price of airfare, including the time of year and location in the USA.
What’s Included In a Package?
At Tradition Tours, our Holy Land packages include the following:
- Transfers upon arrival and departure
- All Hotel accommodations
- Deluxe air-conditioned comfortable modern vehicle with a driver

We consider ourselves a one-stop shop. You decide where and when you want to travel, and we’ll take care of all the details. Or, if you’re a pastor or leading a church trip, your job is to get the people. Our job is every other detail.
What’s NOT Included In a Package?
While we do our best to handle all the details (and our 4.9 rating on TrustPilot shows we do a great job), some things are not included in our tour packages. These include:
- Flights (as noted, add $1200 to $1400 to your budget for airfare)
- Items of a purely personal nature (souvenirs)
- Border Fees when traveling to Jordan or Egypt
There are a number of “must-see” spots during your Holy Land tour. Some of these sites include:
Caesarea Acre Nazareth & Galilee Tiberias, Capernaum, Tabgha, Mount of Beatitudes, a boat ride on the Sea of Galilee Golan Heights (for some tours) Jerusalem (Israel Museum, Holocaust Museum, Temple Mount, Western Wall, Church of the Holy Sepulcher, Via Dolorosa, Garen of Gethsemane, Mount of Olives, Church of All Nations, Kidron Valley) Jordan River, Jericho, Masada, Qumran Bethlehem
If you’re planning a Holy Land tour for your church or small group, these are the packages we recommend you consider first.

There are numerous benefits to taking a trip to the Holy Land with your church or small group. As we mentioned earlier, costs can add up when calculating the total cost of a trip to the Holy Land. However, one of the main benefits of traveling as a group is that you’re often able to bundle travelers together to make the overall trip more affordable.
Cost may not be the biggest contributing factor for every member of your church group. As the pastor, you know that some of the members of your church have more means than others do.
That said, one massive benefit of groups going together is being able to invest in their faith together. Even more, making memories together that you’ll cherish for a lifetime.
Dennis and Nita went on a Holy Land tour in the summer of 2022. They had this to say :
“The tour was awesome, and the tour guides in Israel and Jordan were outstanding and very knowledgeable. This small city located in the Central West Bank is where David was crowned as the first king of Israel and is the burial place of the matriarch Rachel. It is also home to the Church of the Nativity, which marks Jesus’ birthplace.
The Dead Sea
The Dead Sea or Yam Ha-Melakh (the Sea of Salt) is a landlocked salt lake between Israel and Jordan. The lake’s elevation is the lowest of any body of water on the planet. The lake’s salty waters are renowned for their myriad health benefits and natural buoyancy.
This ancient stone fortress in Israel sits high on a rocky mesa above the Dead Sea. Here 960 Judean rebels held out against 8,000 Roman soldiers for three years. The site is now a UNESCO World Heritage site due to the historical significance of its well-preserved ruins.
Mount of Beatitudes
The Mount Is a hill in northern Israel where Jesus delivered the Sermon on the Mount which includes the Beatitudes (eight blessings) and the Lord’s Prayer.
This mountain in western Jordan overlooks the Dead Sea. In the Hebrew Bible, Mount Nebo is where Moses was granted a view of the Promised Land. Mount Nebo is also the place where Moses is said to be buried.
Qumran Caves and the Dea Sea Scrolls
These caves, which were reportedly stumbled upon by Bedouin shepherd boys, are where the Dead Sea Scrolls were discovered. The Dea Sea Scrolls are a series of religious manuscripts dating from the third century BCE and are among the most important discoveries of modern archaeology.
Sea of Galilee
This freshwater lake in Israel fed by the Jordan river is famous for its association with the Bible as the place where Jesus performed two miracles: walking on water and the Feeding of the Multitude. It is the lowest freshwater lake in the world and the second-lowest lake in the world (second only the Dead Sea).
Holy Sites in Jerusalem
It is impossible to overstate the religious importance of this ancient city. One of the oldest cities in the world, Jerusalem is a sacred place for all three major Abrahamic religions. Jerusalem has been sacred to Judaism since King David proclaimed it his capital. For Christians, Jerusalem features prominently in the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus. For Sunni Muslims, Jerusalem is the third holiest city, where Mohammad ascended to Heaven.
The Western Wall
The Western Wall or the Wailing Wall, is the only remaining exterior wall of the Second Temple of Jerusalem. It is the most religious site in the world for Jewish people. Visitors to the wall pray and wedge petitions into the cracks of the wall.
Temple Mount & the Dome of the Rock
The Temple Mount (or Har Habayit) is the elevated plaza above the Western Wall. For Judaism, it is traditionally the place where Abraham took his son Isaac to be sacrificed and was the site of both ancient Jewish temples. For Islam, the Temple Mount and Dome of the Rock are sacred because they commemorate Muhammad’s ascension into heaven.
Church of the Holy Sepulchre
The Church of the Holy Sepulchre is a church in the old city of Jerusalem. It marks the two holiest sites in Christendom: where Jesus was crucified in Calgary and the empty tomb where he was buried and resurrected. Today, the tomb is enclosed by a shrine called the Aedicula.
Mount of Olives and Garden of Gethsemane
Like so many places in Jerusalem, the Mount of Olives is holy to all three Abrahamic faiths. It features prominently in the New Testament and is home to the Garden of Gethsemane where Jesus prayed before being betrayed by Judas. It is also the place where Jesus ascended into heaven.
Holy land tours encompass a wide range of tours that typically visit important religious sites that hold significance for the three Abrahamic faiths: Judaism, Christianity and Islam.
Our tours to Israel, Jordan, and Egypt start from about $1,300 to $9,900. The cost of the tour is determined by the duration (6-25 days) and the operator of the trip. Our tours include most meals, included sightseeing, and more.
There's no bad time to visit the Holy Land but we generally recommend visiting in the Spring as temperatures are milder. It is also important to check to see if there's a religious holiday set for the time you'd like to visit.
It’s a good idea to dress modestly when visiting religious sites. What is the best rule of thumb here? Cover your shoulders, knees, and elbows. That typically means avoiding wearing shorts, short skirts, tops with short sleeves or exposed shoulders, or tops that don’t cover your midriff. Men may be required to cover their heads with a Kippa (skull cap) or simple cap at Jewish religious sites.
Yes, US dollars are accepted in Israel. Most retailers accept most major credit cards and ATMs are plentiful.

Highlights of the Holy Land Best Experience - 8 Days
It was such an excellent tour specially for first timer to visit Israel . I think I will come back to get more focus and time on the holy places that is important in my religion. I understand why we were not able to spend more time in some places like church of sepulcher because of long line. For people who expect more time in this places should book a tour faith based. This tour gave me a lot of information, overview of the holy land and important historical places , UNESCO sites for such short amount time . Claude our tour guide and elan bus driver were excellent. I’ll give them 5 stars . Thank you .

Tel Aviv, Jerusalem and Dead Sea 4-Day Excursion
The tour was amazing! Masada sunrise - Ein Gedi - the Dead Sea - a wonderful mix of mountain hiking (not easy, but such a satisfaction from a successful ascent!), walking in the park and then relaxing in the Dead Sea. Jerusalem - history and modernity - it was interesting to see two sides of this city. And a cherry on the cake - a Tel Aviv bike tour - it was fantastic! Architecture, parks, history and especially the promenade - I enjoyed it so much! And also a complete delight from the hostel! There is a lovely lounge where a lot of events, nice bar and rooftop for guests to relax. Stunning atmosphere! The staff is friendly and professional - any help at any time. Thank you all, guys, you are amazing!

Experience Egypt & Jordan – 5* Cruise
This was my first package tour so I've nothing to compare this experience with though I have independently explored 50+ countries. Hany was my contact person through Timeless Tours and was very prompt in answering questions and helping me change the itinerary skipping the beach days in Hurghada for other excursions such as Dendera, Valley of the Queens, Dahsure, and others. Remon, Mina, and George were my different guides in Egypt and did an excellent job keeping everything, everyone coordinated. The days were long and action-packed with many 8-9pm buffet dinners followed by 4:30am - 6am wake-up calls. There were a couple of times in Egypt where logistics made the itinerary impossible, like arriving 30 minutes before closing at the expansive Kamak Temple complex, but the entire Jordan portion of the tour seemed to evolve this way and the itinerary should definitely be reworked to include at least one other full day. Otherwise, we never went beyond the Oval Plaza Forum in Jerash so that we could rush off and eat a 14JD/US$19.75 lunch (not included), had less than 4 hours at Petra, left the Wadi Rum sunset early just as all the other groups were arriving, and spent far too much time at a ridiculously over-priced workshop across from Mt. Nebo rather than visiting the Orthodox Church of St. George as the trip itinerary listed. Still, however rushed, it was better than nothing for this trip of a lifetime. I'm now open to package tours as I age and would definitely recommend Timeless Tours and Tour Radar - though please, update your recommended App so that it will function with the latest models of phones!

Timeless Egypt & Jordan
Great tour with a great bunch of people, was amazing to see all the sites, that I’ve grown up hearing about, a trip I will remember always, just wish I had longer in Jordan! Jordan is stunning.
Highlights of Israel
Optional could have been offered/suggested for the last day in Jerusalem with many of us on later departures.
Holyland Pilgrimage Trip Experience - 8 Days
I was shocked to find so many people ke (40) on the tour. Boaz the guide was very knowledgeable - please can we have a copy of the team photo he took of us all. The Tiberias hotel was awful, drain smelly, dirty carpet, brusque male receptionists. No buffet for first evening meal. The Jerusalem hotel was magnificent.

Christian HolyLand Trip: Jerusalem, Bethlehem, Dead sea & Masada -3 days
Wow - this was such a wonderful trip. Walking in the same steps that Jesus walked in Jerusalem and the tour led by Yoram was an excellent - very knowledgeable and full of interesting side notes and helpful commentary about the culture, politics and history. Click Tours customer service is 24 hours and they really talk to you. I highly recommend this trip and this tour company.

Budget Tours & Trips to Holy Land Reviews
We had the most amazing guide Leah Dor and the best driver Hassan they both was so lovely, accomodating and went out their way to be so helpful and gave us some extra nice suprises throughout the tour. Everything was a good pace, never rushed and saw so much place and Leah was an expert with knowledge. Transfer drivers was on time when arrived plus to leave. Reliable company and organised well. Only thing, if you want to visit where Jesus was born inside the church, there is a big que and it is not part of this tour as this is just the highlights, they visit the church but not to que for certain things like that which many was not aware of so read the intinary clearly

Holy Land Pilgrimage & Jerusalem Pilgrimage
Nothing brings the Gospels to life like a Catholic Holy Land Pilgrimage Tour to the Holy Land with a Jerusalem stay in 2024 or 2025. During this pilgrimage to Jerusalem and Israel, you will walk in the Footsteps of Jesus, the Virgin Mary, and the Apostles, visiting and celebrating daily Mass in the most important Shrines and Basilicas of Christianity. You will visit the Basilica of the Annunciation, where the Angel of the Lord appeared to the Virgin Mary, and she professed her Magnificat. You will visit Bethlehem and celebrate the birth of Christ at the Church of the Nativity . During this Holy Land Pilgrimage tour, you will have the opportunity to renew your baptismal vows at the Jordon River and your wedding vows in Cana, where Jesus performed His first Miracle. You will spend two days around the Sea of Galilee where Jesus began His ministry, preaching to thousands as He gave His sermon on the Mount of Beatitudes, and miraculously fed the multitudes with fish and loaves of bread. The highlight of the Holy Land Pilgrimage Tour will be in pilgrimage to Jerusalem where you will pray in the Garden of Gethsemane and experience the Lord’s Passion along the Via Dolorosa , also known as the Way of the Cross, on the way to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre which marks the place where Jesus was put to death on Calvary, and was buried and rose again! Visits to Mount Tabor, Sepphoris , Bethany, and Jericho are just some of the other places that you will visit on this Holy Land Pilgrimage Tour. Each day, early in the morning on this Holy Land Pilgrimage we were off and running. The driver of the van was a very safe and considerate driver who not only ensured that we arrived at all our assigned destinations on time, but he also ensured that there was plenty of water for all of us to drink as the weather was very hot and we needed to constantly hydrate our bodies. All Holy Site visits were well-planned, and our tour guide was well known by the guards and site coordinators and several occasions we were even granted head of line privileges.
Every day of our journey was fruitful and fulfilling and we were given the opportunity to visit and spend ample time at each site identified in the Catholic Journey Pilgrimage Brochure. In fact, we even visited some sites that were not scheduled and not offered in the itinerary. Confession and spiritual direction were announced as available and was provided as requested and the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass was celebrated each day with the group. Every morning, on the tour motor coach, I led a recitation of The Holy Rosary or the Chaplet of Divine Mercy. Everybody joined in and I’m sure that our pilgrimage was blessed and especially protected by the Blessed Virgin Mother of God because during this pilgrimage, I was hit from behind by an electric motor bike. However, I was not seriously hurt and there were no injuries to the operator of the electric motor bike.
On the last day of the pilgrimage to Jerusalem, we went to the Via Dolorosa, and I led stations of the cross all the way to Golgotha where I was privileged to offer the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass.
This Holy Land Pilgrimage was a dream come true for me because when I was ordained to the presbyterate, I was scheduled to go to the Holy Land This trip was on my bucket list of things I wanted to do and an answer to my prayer. Due to our very close group interaction and relationships, we developed with each other, we now have new spiritual families (members of our pilgrimage group). Each of the nine members of our group have called or texted me and each other and assured us of their prayers & support.
Words cannot express my gratitude to Catholic Journeys for giving me this great opportunity to go on pilgrimage to the Holy Land as group Spiritual Director. I commend Catholic Journeys for hiring knowledgeable guides and skilled driver for these pilgrimages. May God continue to Bless & Protect You and All Pilgrims that make this Extraordinary Journey to the Holy Land through Catholic Journeys.
Reverend Father Daniel L. Dashner,
Patrick and Linda
We went on pilgrimage to the Holy Land on 9/17 and returned 9/26. We celebrated our 30th Anniversary first by renewing our vows in Cana and spending last full day on our actual Anniversary with a special Mass at Golgotha and a visit to the Tomb.
Our guide was an extraordinary mix of historian, geography, religion and Shepherd! He kept us all safe and taken care of whatever we needed.
Our Priest, Father Dan, is now the head of our Pilgrimage Family and we are grateful to God and everyone at Catholic Journeys for making this possible!
The pilgrimage to Jerusalem and the Holy Land was wonderful and David, our guide, was fantastic. I was amazed at his knowledge and wish I could have recorded the entire trip. Unfortunately I became ill on the flight over so wasn’t able to fully enjoy trip. Sadly I have been diagnosed with cancer and would appreciate prayers. My roommate was also wonderful to me. Please add me to your prayer list. ✝️🙏🙏🙏🙏

Our pilgrimage to the Holy Land was amazing. Everything was perfect from the time we were picked up at the airport until the day we departed. We had the best tour guide David. I felt blessed each day by his vast amount of knowledge. We were able to gain access to the most beautiful basilicas and had Mass each day. I felt very cared for and safe the entire pilgrimage. I would recommend Catholic Journey to everyone who is considering a pilgrimage to the Holy Land.
The pilgrimage to Jerusalem and the Holy Land was awesome despite the heat. Our guide was a wealth of knowledge. David, our tour guide was so passionate about his country and so willing to share his knowledge.

Catholic Holy Land Tour: August 2023
We are planning our next Catholic tour in August 23 to September 1st 2023 . This tour is organized with our US partner Holy Land 360 . To check prices and itinerary, go to the Holy Land 360 tour page and to reserve your spot today!
This pilgrimage will be a unique experience, allowing you to pray as you walk the footsteps of Jesus beside other Catholics. Masses will be performed at sites throughout the Holy Land.
As Catholics, we believe it is important to see humans through the eyes of Jesus. We do not travel in arrogance, but in humility. We also understand that true pilgrimage requires not just traveling to historical landmarks, but also connecting with the people of the Holy Land. Therefore, we will also be engaging with the local population to learn and better understand the conflict in Israel and Palestine, seeking to become peacemakers in the world.
Can I go if I'm not Catholic?
Yes, all are welcome! Please be respectful to others on the trip and recognize that it will be centered around Catholic beliefs and rituals, including Mass at holy sites.
What makes this trip unique?
This Holy Land tour provides two opportunities you would not normally receive through a typical travel organization. First, you will have full Masses with music at holy sites. Music will also be performed as we travel the Stations of the Cross, renew our baptismal rites at the Jordan River, and sing carols as we approach the nativity site in Bethlehem. This creates an atmosphere of prayer and meditation as a pilgrim, not just a tourist. Second, we spend multiple days inside the West Bank (Jericho and Bethlehem) and do our best to learn from Palestinian Christians, the living stones of the Holy Land, who have kept the faith alive for thousands of years. We understand that Jesus cared about people, and so we do, too.
Can I travel Solo?
Absolutely! You will be paired with another solo traveler for your hotel stays. If you would like to have your own room, you’ll need to pay an additional $800 for the trip. If you or we cannot find another solo traveler for you to be paired with, you will need to pay the additional $800 for a single room.
Is it safe?
Yes. The news that you hear about rockets and violence centers around Gaza. We will be staying far away from Gaza. If for some reason, violence spreads outside of Gaza to an area where we are scheduled to visit, we will adjust our trip accordingly.
How will we travel around?
We’ll travel to Tel Aviv by plane and then will travel by air-conditioned bus for the rest of the sites. We will have a licensed tour guide with us for the entire trip as well as an experienced bus driver.
What will food be like?
You’ll experience a mix of Middle Eastern and Western food. Hotel breakfasts and dinners often serve a variety of cuisine, including western selections. Lunches will be on-the-go and will often be Middle Eastern (think falafel, chicken kabob, pita bread, and hummus). Some days you’ll have the opportunity to walk and find a lunch that suits you. On other days, we’ll all eat lunch together. (Lunches are not covered in price). You are NOT forced to eat the meals at the hotels (although they are very tasty!). Feel free to venture out into the cities to eat whatever you like and experience more of the local cuisine.
How much walking will there be?
Quite a bit. You’ll need to be physically fit to attend this trip. The stones in the old cities are uneven and slippery, especially when wet and these old cities are unfortunately not handicap accessible. There will also be long hours of sitting on the bus to travel from city to city.
What are the accommodations like?
Please remember: this is a cultural immersion trip, not a luxury resort trip. Every hotel will be different. Some may feel like a vacation spot (e.g. Jericho) while others may feel like you’ve stepped back 1,000 years (e.g. Nazareth).

From Past Trips...
My time spent there was perhaps the most influential thing I’ve ever done, it has greatly ignited my passion for social justice and encouraged me to advocate for the injustice of this conflict as much as I can.
The tour went very smoothly. Adjustments were made appropriately to itineraries due to traffic conditions or time constraints, transport was comfortable and efficient, the guides were all informative and (mostly!) sensitive and the hotels looked after us well. We all enjoyed the food!
The most amazing thing is how the Palestinians have retained their amazing spirit! I felt so welcomed by everyone I spoke with and met while at PSE. By the end of my time in Palestine, I had a new family that I loved... many new friends from around the world... and I am happy to let you know I consider Palestine my other home. Inshallah"
My own Christian faith has been deepened from my experience. I have more hope for the region from having met so many incredible people.
This program gives you a truly extensive immersion experience across The Holy Land. The community projects, the family visits, and access to policymakers sets this program apart from all the rest.
From a group of individuals, with varying motivation, we left as friends, not only with each other but with the people we met along the way and felt united as a group, bound by the shared and varied experiences which Holy Land Trust had given us. It was exhausting and amazing in equal measure, but above all, a once in a lifetime experience.

The holy land experience trip of a lifetime.
October 20~November 5, 2023
17-Day Trip
Would you like to have a life-changing and never-to-be-forgotten experience? If so, it is our joy to invite you to join us on a trip of a lifetime to the Land of the Bible, where you will find a new dimension in understanding the Bible and the life of Jesus. We will take a boat ride on the Sea of Galilee, visit places where Jesus walked, lived, taught, performed miracles, walked on the water, calmed the sea, and where He was crucified and raised from the dead. We will immerse ourselves in the Land of the Bible and experience it to the depths of our souls. You will never be the same or read your Bible the same after a trip like this.
If it's Bible you want, then this trip is for you. At each site, we will give biblical and historical teaching along with a faith lesson. Therefore, this trip is designed to provide an in-depth study and perspective from the Scriptures of the events and places of the Bible.
We are delighted to share that Israel has removed every Covid vaccination mandate plus every other restriction, so visiting Israel is normal with no burdens whatsoever. As a result, we are rejoicing and really excited about our upcoming trips to Israel.
Our Holy Land Trips are open to anyone around the world that is able to travel to Israel with a valid Passport.

For those desiring to experience the culture, you can enjoy eating dinners out at the local restaurants of your choice.

THIS IS A CUSTOM-DESIGNED TRIP
If you want to spend more time in Israel and see more holy sites, then this trip is designed for you. Most trips to the Holy Land allow only around 7-8 full days in Israel. This severely limits what can be seen. Therefore, most who go to the Holy Land miss out on many significant holy sites as a result. This trip will have you in Israel for 13 full touring days. You will, therefore, see almost everything significant there is to see in Israel.
A 17-day trip like this normally is quite expensive (if you can find one). Why can we do it so inexpensively? Because we are eliminating tour companies, travel agencies, tour guides, etc., and are providing these services instead. We are also allowing you to book your own airfare, lodging, and some of your meals. And lastly, we are staying in nice, clean hotels /hostels instead of expensive hotels. It is our pleasure to serve you and our Lord Jesus Christ in offering you this special and affordable trip of a lifetime.
Because this is a custom trip, each participant will be required to book their own airfare, lodging, and purchase some of their own meals.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This trip is not for the weak and faint of heart! There will be a fair amount of walking, some hiking, climbing stairs, times when it could be warm (Dead Sea area), etc. Those considering this trip need to be in good shape and able to withstand some discomfort at times due to heat, walking, stairs, steps, hiking, etc. Our estimated walking distance will be about 3 - 5 miles (4 - 7 km.) a day. Those considering this trip need to be prepared for a rewarding but full schedule of about 8 - 9 hours a day. However, if at any time you want to take time off for rest during the trip, you are welcome to do so.
GROUP SIZE LIMIT
In order to have a more intimate and better experience, we limit our group size to around 35 - 40 people. This allows us to be more efficient and see more places in Israel. Larger teams bring a different dynamic that slows things down and makes travel more difficult.
Each person will be responsible for booking their own air travel to Israel (to and from Ben Gurion Airport). Please make plans to arrive with plenty of time to attend our required orientation and get-acquainted meeting at 7:00 pm at the Kfar Maccabiah Hotel & Suites in Tel Aviv. Due to customs and obtaining visas, please allow 3 hours from airport arrival to hotel arrival. The hotel is about 15 minutes from the airport, depending on traffic.
Note: For those having the time and resources, arriving a day early will give you a chance to rest up and get better prepared for your experience in Israel.
TRANSPORTATION IN ISRAEL
We will be transported via a large, air-conditioned motorcoach . Our bus driver is an Arab Christian who is able to take us to all sites in Israel, even in the West Bank.
LODGING IN ISRAEL
We will be staying at hotels with private rooms and bathrooms during our time in Israel. Our itinerary shows the hotels where we will stay (a total of three: Tel Aviv, Tiberias, and Jerusalem). Click here for hotel reservation links .
LUGGAGE SIZE AND AMOUNT
We don't have a luggage size and number allowance per person, but we suggest not exceeding over 40-50 lbs (18-22 kg) per piece of luggage as it makes it hard to handle. The lighter, the better. You will be responsible for handling your own luggage on the trip, so don't pack any heavier than what you can lift.
MEALS IN ISRAEL
Each person will be responsible for paying for their own lunches and dinners.
Breakfast - The hotels will provide breakfast if desired. Some will provide dinners as well. These can be paid for when you book your lodging or at the hotels. It's ideal to eat breakfast at the hotels as it's handy. However, you can eat your breakfast if desired at a local restaurant or made by hand.
Lunch - Because eating out is expensive in Israel, time-consuming with a large group, and we will not always be close to a restaurant, each trip participant will prepare themself a daily sack lunch. Each day around noon, we will take a break to eat, or you can eat and snack as you wish. Lunch items can be purchased at local grocery stores or extra items from the breakfasts buffets at the hotels can be taken (the hotels seem okay with this). The hotels will have refrigerators in the rooms if needed.
Dinner – On your own. Enjoy the local culture as you eat at local restaurants or the hotel if you prefer.
PARK & ENTRANCE PASSES
Holy Land Site Ministries will pay for all park and entrance fees to all sites. You will be responsible for paying for any entrance fees you want to see during your free time.
WHAT WILL OUR VISITS TO EACH SITE BE LIKE?
Our visits will normally last around two hours. We will begin with some orientation of the site. Then we'll do a walking tour to see the site and its points of interest. Afterward, we'll find a quiet spot to reflect on the main events from the Bible that happened at the site and close with a faith lesson to learn the key truths God would desire to teach us. Some of the Bible teachings might be filmed for publishing on our website. We'll then end our visit with some free time.
A valid U.S. Passport is required. Passports must have at least six months left before they expire for travel to Israel.
TRIP PREPARATION
Please utilize the videos and info on our website that provide help and orientation to better understand many of the biblical sites we will be visiting, the history of Israel, and other helpful info. In addition, we will provide helpful info leading up to our trip that will help prepare you to get the most out of your holy land experience.
We also ask that you acquaint yourself with our Travel Orientation Material found on our website. You will find it extremely helpful.
TIME OF YEAR FOR THIS TRIP
We’ve chosen these dates to visit Israel because the weather is stable, the days are longer, and there are no Jewish Holidays that will interfere with our travels.
DAILY ITINERARY
Please take into consideration that there might be slight adjustments to the schedule depending on things out of our control. Additionally, if the team would like some flexibility in seeing sights, we are happy to do this if possible.
MONEY IN ISRAEL
Credit cards and Dollars are readily accepted, and Shekels can be drawn from ATMs.
INTERNET IN ISRAEL
Phone SIM cards can be purchased for around $39.99 if you want Internet service at all times while in Israel. You can also activate your phone for international service.
If you don't have Internet via your phone service, at each hotel where we will be staying, free Internet service is provided. Also, the tour bus has free Internet service as well.
DIGITAL MAPS OF DAILY TRIP ITINERARY
For each tour trip itinerary , you will see at the bottom of each day's itiner ary a link to see a Google Map of the route and sites we'll be seeing each day. Here's an example:
Tour Day 1: Google Ma p Itinerary
DAILY SCHEDULE
We will leave our place of lodging each day at 7:45 am and return around 4:00 - 5:00 pm. From this time on, you will have free time to eat, relax, see the local sites and culture, etc.
PERSONAL TRAVEL IN ISRAEL
You can take a taxi, walk, or use the bus or light rail train system. The best option is to make sure you have Internet in Israel (you can activate your phone or get an Israeli SIM card) and use Google Maps. It will tell you exactly which bus, light rail train, or walking route to use. It also works in real-time, so you can see exactly when buses or trains are arriving and departing.
The minimum age for trip participants is 12 years old unless other arrangements have been made with tour hosts.
Please see our detailed itinerary below.
