Harare travel guide: Everything you need to know

(last updated may 2023).

Many visitors arrive at Harare International Airport, merely spend a night in the city centre, sniff their noses at all the concrete and traffic, then travel to the more tourist-oriented areas of Zimbabwe. They write off Harare as one of those places you have to go through to get somewhere else . That’s a mistake, in my eyes. The key to enjoying Harare is to visit the suburbs, not just the city centre . It’s full of quirky venues, lush gardens and wildlife sanctuaries. Keep reading for practical info on where to go in Harare, the best time to visit, safety, and more travel tips.

Harare bus

Garden of The Bottom Drawer, a cafe in Harare

Harare is the perfect mish-mash of contradictions to introduce you to the country of Zimbabwe before heading into the bush. As much as I encourage people to see Zimbabwe’s game parks and natural wonders, I think it’s equally important to experience the more gritty, urban side of the country, to see the whole picture. Many of Harare’s beautiful spots are open to the public in the form of garden coffee shops and craft centres, and it’s these that I enjoy the most. Enter a house-turned-cafe in the suburbs and find yourself surrounded by vivid paintings, intricate beadwork and chocolate cake … and who can resist that?

Best time to visit harare.

  • April to August are the best months to visit Harare because there’s very little rain. The coldest months of the year are June and July, where days are sunny but nights can have frost on the ground. The hottest months of the year are October to January, and the wettest months of the year are December and January. Harare’s sights are accessible year-round, though, so timing is not as important as elsewhere in the country.

Weather/average temperatures in harare.

  • October to April:  (Summer) Daytime average: 26 C / 77 F. Night: 16 C / 61 F. Some rainy days and thunderstorms but mostly sunny and warm. October is the hottest month of the year.
  • May to September:  (Winter)   Daytime average: 23 C / 73 F. Night: 8 C / 46 F. Very little rain, warm days, cool nights.
  • See the Zimbabwe weather page for more details about Zimbabwe’s seasons.

Practical information

  • Safety: As with any busy city, some areas are more risky than others. The city centre is slightly more dicey, as there are some pick-pockets in the area. Wherever you are, don’t leave valuables in plain sight, and keep a good hold of handbags/briefcases at all times. Unless you’ve pre-arranged your transport with a reliable operator or know exactly where you’re going, don’t drive at night.
  • Don’t walk around at night for the same reason – it’s easy to get lost and become a target.
  • As always, don’t walk around with too much cash and don’t make a show of expensive goods. Stealing is highly disapproved of by Zimbabweans, but don’t tempt people by flaunting your comparative wealth!
  • Avoid actions that could be seen as being politically motivated, such as taking photos of police, army personnel, government buildings, etc. If a cavalcade of police cars and motorbikes approach, this probably means the president is travelling in the convoy. Pull off the road completely and wait for the vehicles to pass. See more information about safety in Zimbabwe here.
  • Using cash:  Ensure you read my tips for using cash in Zimbabwe , too, as you might not be able to withdraw cash or use certain international bank cards in Zimbabwe.
  • Don’t forget to read the in-depth article on FAQs for visiting Zimbabwe .

Activities in Harare

Duiker Harare Twala Zimbabwe

Twala Trust Animal Sanctuary, near Harare

  • Short activity trips: There are a host of splendid sights and activities for all budgets and ages: see Things to do and sights of Harare for a list of these.
  • Longer activity trips: Many venues that occupy a whole day (or more), such as larger wildlife sanctuaries and natural areas close to Harare: see Day trips from Harare for a list of those.
  • Kid-friendly activities: Read this article for a list of Great places to go with younger kids in Harare . These range from -play centres to hands-on animal interactions.
  • Tours: There aren’t many official Harare tours, for the simple reason that the sights are easy to visit without a guide. I would suggest that you visit the places of interest yourself, using transport arranged through your accommodation. If, however, you would like to have someone with you, there is a section about guided Harare tours further down this page.
  • What’s on in Harare: Pick up a copy of the magazines such as ‘Ndeipi’ or ‘Hello Harare’ for info on shows, classes and events happening in Harare. You can get these magazines at one of Harare’s coffee shops , supermarkets or bookshops – or search for them on social media. Also follow ‘Whats’up Harare’ and ‘Bambazonke Nhasi’ on social media.

Where to stay in Harare

best hotels in harare zimbabwe

  • Harare has accommodation for a variety of needs. There are luxurious hotels, rustic “city safari” lodges, boutique guest houses, homely B&Bs, and a small number of no-frills backpacking hostels.
  • See my detailed article which lists the Best hotels in Harare (including lodges and B&Bs) within a 25 km radius of the city centre.
  • If you want ato stay slightly further out of the city, read the post Best day trips from Harare,  as many of the lodges in that article offer overnight accommodation.

Health in Harare

  • Malaria is not present in Harare, but it is in other areas of the country.
  • Harare’s tap water is not the cleanest, so it’s best to drink bottled water not tap water.
  • Wildlife : There aren’t any large wild animals in Harare, but there may be spiders, monkeys and (usually harmless) ‘creepy-crawlies’ around. The general rule is that if you stay away from them, they will stay away from you. If you have been bitten by something and are in pain, visit your nearest pharmacy or tell your lodge manager. If you are staying in a lodge or hotel, staff will be equipped to help you know what to do, and to deal with health emergencies. You’re more likely to meet a pet dog or cat in Harare than a wild animal.
  • Contact numbers: Emergency telephone numbers in Harare are as follows: Central police station: (+263 4) 777 777 | Private MARS Ambulance: (+263 4) 771 221 | Private EMRAS Ambulance: (+263 4) 250 012. Your accommodation will also have emergency numbers to hand.
  • If you are looking for a specific type of medical service in Harare (eg paediatrician or ENT specialist), see the Cimas Zimbabwe website  (many of the providers there are not limited to Cimas medical aid).
  • For accidents and emergencies, go to the Trauma Centre on Lanark Rd in Borrowdale .
  • Please read my article Health information for visitors to Zimbabwe for more guidance on medical considerations. Always travel with Medical Aid.

Shopping in harare.

Harare is an exciting place to shop for unique, handmade crafts ranging from homeware to toys.

  • Visit Upmarket, Old Stables Market, Queen of Hearts, Chisi Walk  and Mbare Market for craft and bespoke items. Have a search for these places on social media or on Google Maps to find them.
  • Shona stone sculptures are a key part of Zimbabwe’s cultural and artisan scene, and are sold in shops around the city – try Chapungu Gallery, the Flea Market behind Newlands Shopping Centre, or Avondale Flea Market. It’s fine to haggle at informal markets, but my advice is to settle on a fair price that reflects the workmanship of the creator. Don’t make it into a game of simply getting the lowest price that you can.
  • See the “Craft and cake” itinerary in the Harare itinerary page for a suggested tour of Harare’s craft shops, as well as a Google map of some key retail locations.
  • Conventional shopping centres in Harare include Sam Levy’s Village, Arundel Village, Avondale Shopping Centre, Westgate and Eastgate, where you will be able to find pharmacies, supermarkets, clothing stores and more (all are listed on Google Maps).

Harare Zimbabwe Craft Stalls 03

Informal craft market behind Newlands Shopping Centre

Groceries and food in harare.

Food Zimbabwe Supermarket

  • Due to Zimbabwe’s economic situation, goods like biscuits, toiletries, nappies and processed foods now need to be imported from South Africa, which makes them more costly.
  • Fresh fruit, vegetables and meat are usually abundant; and the fresh produce is one of my favourite things about Zimbabwe.

Books about Harare (fiction)

  • Hairdresser of Harare by Tendai Huchu: A witty and humorous tale set in modern-day Harare.
  • The Book of Memory by Petina Gappah: Many Harare landmarks and suburbs are described in this highly acclaimed novel about an albino woman accused of murdering her father.
  • An Elegy for Easterly by Petina Gappah: A collection of satirical and insightful short stories, many of them set in Harare. Winner of the Guardian First Book Award.

Transport in Harare

  • Harare’s best sights are spread out, so it’s best to travel by car. See my Harare itineraries page for itinerary ideas and Things to do in Harare for a list of the best sights.
  • Your hotel or tour operator will often be happy to organise transport, so do ask about this when booking.
  • Alternatively here are links for:  Shuttle Direct , Samaita Tours  (transfers), Avis Car Rentals , WildRoutes  and a directory of  taxi services  that you can book online or by phone. See the post on Driving in Zimbabwe for a list of car hire companies and information on Zimbabwe roads.
  • See the section further down the page about guided tours within Harare.

Getting to Harare / Getting from Harare to other areas

If you need to travel from Harare to Victoria Falls/Bulawayo/elsewhere, read the articles on  Harare transport links  and  Transport in Zimbabwe .

Guided tours in Harare

  • Tours within Harare city: There aren’t many guided tours of Harare, one of the reasons being that the sights are easy to see without a guide. I would suggest that you visit the places of interest yourself, using transport arranged through your accommodation. If, however, you would like to have someone with you, try Nyati Travel and Tours , Thingu ,  Harare Township Tours or  WildRoutes . If you want to see Harare’s nightlife however, it is best to do this with a group or a guide.
  • Day tours from Harare to other locations in Zimbabwe :  This and That Safaris  offer half-day and day trips from Harare to Great Zimbabwe Ruins Monument . They also offer a rail tour across Zimbabwe from Harare to Victoria Falls.  Black Rhino Safaris offer transfers and guided tours of Great Zimbabwe, as well as trips to Victoria Falls, Bulawayo, and other locations around Zimbabwe. Thingu also offers day trips from Harare to places such as Mutoroshanga and Imire Conservancy.

Driving in Harare

  • Tips: See the general page on driving in Zimbabwe for a list of car rental companies, info on road blocks and vehicle requirements.
  • Maps: Pick up a Harare street map from a Kingston’s bookshop in Sam Levy’s Village to help you get around, or alternatively print out some Google Maps of specific areas before you go. I’ve prepared a few bespoke Google maps: see the Harare itineraries page which shows crafts, sights, cultural and wildlife tours you could do yourself.
  • Road condition: Some of Harare’s streets have atrocious potholes – drive sensibly and slowly around them and you’ll feel like a local in no time.
  • Cavalcades: If you hear sirens, or see motorbikes and other vehicles with flashing lights, pull off the road immediately and as far on to the grass as possible. The flashing lights usually mean that the president’s cavalcade is coming past – stay out of trouble by moving well off the road.
  • Parking in the suburbs: There is plenty of parking space at most suburban garden cafes and craft shops. Car guards in uniform might offer to watch your car: You can give them a couple of dollars when you leave, if your car has been parked for longer than an hour, but this is not a necessity, and you should only pay someone with a clear uniform or official vest.
  • Parking in the city centre: This is more difficult as it can get very congested, but once you’ve found a spot, you’ll be approached by a parking attendant wearing a coloured vest (with the logo ‘Easy Park’). Buy a timed parking token from the attendant (make sure they’re wearing the vest), and display the token in your car windscreen. There are also “parking lots” in the city centre where you’ll pay the attendant at the gate.
  • Want to know more about the different areas of Harare? See areas and suburbs of Harare .
  • See the  Harare photo gallery  to get a visual idea of what to expect
  • Get some inspiration: See  Harare itineraries  which include itineraries for kids, nature-lovers and culture-heads, as well as a ‘Best of Harare’ itinerary
  • See my article on  What to pack for a Zimbabwe holiday
  • Check out the  Quick reference list of Zimbabwe travel articles

Chivero sunset

Zimbabwe’s capital city of Harare is busy and gritty in the south, genteel and well-to-do in the north, and abuzz with people in the centre. It’s sometimes ugly and overbearing, sometimes soft and enchanting – but remember that wherever you go in Harare, you’re never too far away from beauty in unexpected green enclaves.

Host Healthcare is amazing! Best travel co out there! Amanda is the recruiter I have & she is wonderful. She is there from the beginning. From searching for the perfect assignment throughout completion of a contract - Amanda is there for me! Host Healthcare treats their nurses so well

host travel harare

Amanda Goad is the most amazing recruiter I have worked with. She is the most responsive and go-getter. She is in constant contact with you or hospitals to get you offers and/or advocating for you. She is super motivated and helpful. If you have the opportunity to use her, you will not regret it.

host travel harare

Needed to move across country to be next to my partner, but blindly jumping into a full time job for a hospital system I was not familiar with was out of the question. Host Healthcare (Natalie G specifically) stood by me and helped me fulfill my absurdly specific requests. I was a first time time traveler and I couldn't have made it without the support I received!
Just finished my first contract with Host Healthcare (fifth overall) and they were amazing! Specifically my recruiter Jenny Berroth. Jenny was so helpful and easy to communicate with. I had a couple issues come up and Jenny was all over them and took care of everything so I could just concentrate on being a nurse, while she handled the rest. I can’t recommend Host and Jenny enough! You have to give Host and Jenny a try, you’ll be glad you did!

‘Conan O’Brien Must Go’ Is a Keeper: TV Review

Legendary talk show host and hot wing evangelist returns to television with hilarious new Max travel show

By Stephen Rodrick

Conan O'Brien tries Thai boxing with predictable results.

The key to understanding Conan O’Brien’s comedy is knowing that it comes from a point of kindness. Yes, I know in this age of comics punching down , this kind of compliment may leave you with a neon “Must Avoid!” sign flashing in your bleary eyes — but stay with me.

Popular on Variety

Conan’s three-decade run as a talk show host ended in 2021 under less-than-optimal circumstances , as he wound down his TBS show during the pandemic year. He talked to longtime sidekick Andy Richter , who sat among dozens of cardboard cutout fans. O’Brien quipped that they were last in line for the vaccine because the CDC had looked at the shows and “they said ours is the least essential of pretty much all the non-essential shows.”

There was some truth in that, but Conan had already started his move to other outlets , starting with his “Conan O’Brien Needs a Friend” podcast in 2018.

The podcast is funny and sweet, especially the pre-interview segments with longtime associate Sona Movsesian and producer Matt Gourley. Conan mocks Sona’s legendarily bad work habits. and Gourley’s flea market predilections, but any kind of comedic acid is reserved for the self-lacerating O’Brien. (On a recent episode, Conan runs down his own looks, and it is cruel and hilarious, but part of me is thinking, “Dude, cut yourself a break.”). The only time things get contentious is when Conan visited by longtime friend Kevin Nealon — perhaps the podcast’s best episodes.

The podcast had an offshoot called “Conan O’Brien Needs a Fan,” on which O’Brien would talk to a fan, often in a faraway land. That led to O’Brien traveling to Norway, Thailand, Ireland and Argentina to meet them. Why? Well, a dour and ominous narrator, aka Werner Herzog, offered this rationale at the beginning of each episode: “Once a proud talk show host, he’s been driven by a changing ecosystem to a drier and harsher climate: the weekly podcast. Here , without the nourishment of his studio audience, this clown with dull , tiny eyes, the eye of a crudely painted doll , is forced to feed on that meagerest of morsels: the random call-in fan. Unhinged by the feral scent of their mild enthusiasm. He scavenges in distant lands uninvited, fueled by a bottomless hunger for recognition , and the occasional selfie.”

It’s a self-deprecating bit, but it’s also the truth. Conan has been doing travel shows for years, most notably one to Movsesian’s native Armenia , as well as a chaotic trip to Finland where O’Brien is treated as a god because of his physical resemblance to the Finnish president who happens to be a woman. He clearly loves the journey. And he loves the comedy set piece–see his classic “Old Timey Baseball” opus — which has always been an essential part of his appeal.

The encounters work because O’Brien doesn’t treat his new friends as fools — rather , he revels in the fact that he is the fool. (See his instant-classic appearance on “Hot Ones,” the show where interviews are conducted while the celebrity consumes increasingly acidic chicken wings. Conan rhapsodizes on comedy being all around us as green-yellow mucus drips down his nose.) Of course, there are exceptions made for old friends. Conan goes out for asada in Buenos Aires with the effete and erudite Jordan Schlansky, a longtime producer and frenemy. Schlansky and Conan are the Steve Coogan and Rob Brydon of American cable , and on his TBS show and podcast the two have tangled over Japanese customs, Conan hosting Schlansky’s bachelor party in his own office, and Schlansky hiding an expensive Espresso machine in an inaccessible part of their offices. (As with the Courtney Thorne-Smith segment, Conan’s visceral malice toward Schlansky works because it is so out-of-character).

During the Argentina episode, they get into a fierce argument about the proper pronunciation of the word “tango,” Conan then licks Schlansky’s favorite cut of meat — wait, that came out wrong. After, they go on an ill-fated trip to the Pampas, where both fail spectacularly at gaucho life.

Not everything works. O’Brien does a self-referential bit about the expensive drone he is using on the first show , and for the next four episodes I am distracted every time I see a beautiful shot thinking about the drone’s specifications and capabilities. Some of the stuff goes on a bit long, but so does my writing.

These are minor quibbles. If you’re a Conan fan, you’ll treasure the trips, just like his completists treasure encounters with a masturbating bear. The series ends with Conan tracing his family’s roots in Ireland. He comes across his ancestor’s land, makes a few jokes, but then looks at the land, clearly moved. Conan O’Brien has played the fool long enough; we grant him this moment of humanity with all our hearts.

All four episodes of “Conan O’Brien Must Go” are now available on Max.

McNamara's javelin throw mark is No. 8 on the U-M performer's list.

• Penelopea Gordon also saw a personal best, becoming the sixth-fastest woman in program history in the 1,500-meter run with a time of 4:13.24.

HOSPITALITY

Kenya to host over 3,000 at annual magical travel expo, the regional tourism fair is scheduled to run between october 2-4 at the uhuru gardens , nairobi..

  • Last year, about 2,500 tourism business people participated in the 3-day long fair.
  • Kenya's 2023 tourism arrivals grew by more than 460,000 in the period to December.

Kenya Tourism Board (KTB) chairman Francis Gichaba and KTB CEO June Chepkemei at the board's office in Nairobi.

Kenya Tourism Board (KTB) targets a 20 per cent growth in the number of delegates set to participate in the 13th edition of the Magical Kenya Travel Expo (MKTE).

The regional tourism fair, scheduled to run between October 2-4 at the Uhuru Gardens National Monument and Museum in Nairobi, is expected to bring together about 3,000 participants including tour operators, hoteliers, travel agents and travel trade visitors.

Last year, about 2,500 tourism business people participated in the 3-day long fair that is increasingly gaining popularity as a premier regional travel show with KTB seeking to position the expo for bigger global involvement.

The 13th edition of the expo is part of the destination repositioning activities geared towards the attainment of the targeted number of three million visitors to the country by the close of the year.

KTB chief executive officer June Chepkemei has expressed optimism that the expo will go a long way in repositioning Kenya for tourism business not only within the continent but globally.

For the past 12 years, MKTE has been the premier business-to-business tourism platform for the region bringing together all tourism players for insightful business transactions.

"This continues to be a trademark of the expo even as we work to maintain Pan African travel trade participation and cement Kenya's position as a leading tourism destination,” Chepkemei said.

The travel fair is coming at a time when Kenya is setting eyes on the African market that has shown resilience and steady growth in the highly competitive and fragile tourism industry.

According to last year’s tourism sector performance, Africa closed at about 0.8 million visitors to Kenya representing a 41 per cent market share of total international arrivals into the country.

The Europe market reported a 30 per cent market share with 0.6 million arrivals in Kenya while the Americas market posted a 17 per cent market share with about 0.3 million visitors to Kenya.

MKTE is highly structured for business, bringing in about 160 carefully selected and vetted buyers from Kenya’s key source markets in Europe, the US, Asia, and Africa.

The expo has also been instrumental in allowing over 60 per cent of local small and medium travel enterprises and startups to access international markets and build linkages.

Kenya's 2023 tourism arrivals grew by more than 460,000 in the period to December, marking the third consecutive growth since 2021 when the numbers started rising.

The annual tourism sector performance report shows arrivals rose from 1,483,752 in 2022 to 1,951,185 in 2023, a 31.5 percent increase.

This is however way less compared to the previous year (2021-2022) when the numbers grew by about 71 per cent.

August recorded the highest number of visitors at 11 per cent of the total arrivals, attributed to the wildebeest migration experience in Maasai Mara around late July to August.

The growth is attributed to the good value for money perception by tourists, implying their belief that the country offers quality experiences, services and attractions relative to the cost of their travel.

Tourist arrivals from South Africa up 38% on visa free plan

Sen. Lauren Book , who overcame years of physical and sexual abuse to become an internationally recognized child advocate, will walk through Escambia County at 8:30 a.m. Thursday, April 25 starting at the Gulf Coast Kid’s House as part of her 1,500-mile journey across the state.

Walkers will travel 3.1 miles to the Head Start Community Action Program and real adventurers can continue for the full eight mile walk.

Armed with the knowledge that one-in-three girls and one-in-five boys are sexually abused before age 18 , and 95 percent of that abuse is preventable with awareness and education, Book’s Walk in My Shoes raises awareness about child sexual abuse and empowers survivors.

Book, former classroom teacher and founder of Lauren’s Kids , endured sexual abuse for six years of her childhood at the hands of her nanny. She launched the Walk in My Shoes campaign in 2010 to raise awareness of the issue of child sexual abuse and encourage survivors to speak out about their experiences.

The senator and Lauren’s Kids have had immeasurable impact through providing child abuse prevention education and awareness efforts, as well as changing legislation to empower victims of child abuse and improve the intervention system.

Alex Cooper is officially a wife!

The “Call Her Daddy” podcast host married her longtime boyfriend, Matt Kaplan, in front of close friends and family members in Mexico on April 6.

“Daddy gang, I’ve been keeping a secret from you,” she wrote via her Instagram Stories Wednesday before excitedly announcing the news. “It’s the hardest secret I’ve ever had to keep. But today, it’s yours.”

In an interview with Vogue , Cooper, 29, and Kaplan, 40, said they chose a resort in Riviera Maya, because they wanted it to feel like a vacation for their guests.

“We weren’t looking to have a formal wedding. We wanted it to feel relaxed and authentic to us and the location, so from the decor to the festivities it all was very naturally curated,” Kaplan, who planned most of the wedding, told the outlet.

The Ace Entertainment founder added that they wanted the weekend to feel “private” and “romantic,” so they only invited people “who we love the most and who have helped us become who we are today.”

Their wedding weekend began on April 4 with a welcome party that featured espresso martinis with their initials and a custom sand castle of their dogs, who also played a role in the nuptials.

Cooper wore a semi-sheer Danielle Frankel mini dress embroidered with pearls and a matching skirt for the kickoff party. She accessorized the look with Jimmy Choo satin open-toed heels and 18-karat Material Good antique gold studs.

The following night, the couple held a rehearsal dinner where the blond beauty wore a 2011 Donna Karan Collection tan tulle gown that featured ruffles and silver embellishments. She and Kaplan sat in white lounge chairs while their friends gave speeches and topped off the evening with s’mores on the beach.

Cooper and Kaplan then said “I do” in an emotional ceremony on April 6, with the podcast host opting to walk herself down the aisle as a string quartet played in the background. Cooper requested that the guests face her to make the entrance feel more like a “runway” moment.

“At the beginning of wedding planning, I really rejected the concept of being walked down by a man to be handed to another man. Although to clarify, I have such an incredible relationship with my father and both of my parents — it wasn’t about that,” she explained.

“To me personally, I just never loved that tradition. It’s old and antiquated. My mom also walked herself down the aisle, so in a sense, I guess we are creating our own tradition for the women in our family.”

Cooper called the moment “perfect,” adding, “As soon as I came out, the only thing I saw was Matt. It was a very dramatic moment revealing my dress but also a very beautiful euphoric moment between the two of us.”

As for the officiant, Cooper gave that role to her brother, Grant, telling Vogue that he “has been so instrumental throughout my life, and he and Matt have built such a great bond.” Meanwhile, Cooper and Kaplan’s two fur babies served as ring bearers who presented the rings – via their collars – to the happy couple before they read off their own wedding vows.

“Although my life is pretty public, the true intimate bond and connection Matt and I have we actually keep pretty private,” Cooper gushed. “So for our families and closest friends to hear us verbalize our feelings towards one another in the most intimate setting felt electric.”

For the ceremony, Cooper wore a custom Danielle Frankel silk gown that featured a round neckline and internal corset. She paired the stunning dress with custom Jimmy Choo sandals.

“The dress truly turned out to be my dream,” she told Vogue. “I felt so classic and chic in it. I felt confident and sexy while still elegant and timeless. [From there] the rest of the looks fell into place.”

The Unwell co-founder pulled her hair back in a sleek bun and added a short veil and Lorraine Schwartz diamond drop earrings. She held onto a white flower bouquet that was tied with pearls her mom gave her as a child as her “something borrowed.”

Meanwhile, Kaplan looked dapper in a custom Cloakroom black suit with a white button-down, which he styled with black shoes by Saint Laurent.

After the emotional ceremony, the newlyweds and their guests ventured to the reception where Cooper changed into a vintage Alexander McQueen silk chiffon corset dress with Jimmy Choo heels.

The couple continued their unconventional wedding vibes by opting for a “first shot” over the traditional first dance, cutting into two separate cakes and running into the ocean with their guests.

Matt Kaplan and Alex Cooper getting engaged

Cooper slipped into one last outfit for the afterparty – a vintage 1995 Gianni Versace corset top with a matching silk skirt.

“Matt and I were both so intentional about making the weekend about being present with each other and our friends and family, and that’s exactly what we did,” she shared. “There’s no detail or moment I won’t remember — and I will cherish this celebration of our love forever.”

Page Six broke the news in April that Cooper and Kaplan got engaged after dating for nearly three years . The couple met through work, though Cooper kept his identity underwraps until the proposal.
