Jeep Safari in Chitwan National Park

• Chitwan Jeep Safari

One of the options to see the wildlife in Chitwan national park is to go on a jeep safari. During this trip you will sit in de back of an open jeep to see the animals. The driver will stop to show places and animals. You will have a great opportunity to get some good pictures this way.

During the trip, the guide will hang at the back of the vehicle to spot animals. He will also give information about the environment and the wildlife.

To do the Jeep safari you get two options:

The first option is a short safari. This will take about 4 hours and you are in the jeep with a maximum of 7 persons. With your back you will sit to the side of the jeep. This safari will start around 13.00 p.m. and finishes around 17.00 p.m. 

The second option is a full day safari. The jeep is more comfortable as you have better seats and a private car. This trip will start early in the morning and you will finish around the same time as the short drive. With this trip you will go deeper in the jungle and here you will have more chance to see tigers. During this trip, the lunch will be eaten in the jungle itself.

Don’t be afraid, you don’t have to catch your own food.

Tip: During a jeep safari you should not wear bright colors. This will scare the animals so off white, Black, grey, dark green are preferred.

Jeep Safari: The four hour jeep safari will let you explore more of the 932 square kilometer inside Chitwan national park, which might not be possible with just the elephant back safari. You will definitely see an array of rare flaura and fauna during the ride. The flora includes the elephant grass, the longest grass in the world, which is cleared out every year by the Tharus as part of the ‘Kharkharai’ process. Other plants found there are the Philodendron, Eupatorium, Orchid and Carmona.

Jeep Safari is another option to see the wildlife in Chitwan national park. In Jeep Safari, you will sit in the back of an open jeep to see the animals. Our driver will stop to show you places and animals and you can grab this opportunity to take some beautiful pictures.

Jeep Drive goes through the grasslands , riverine forests and sal forests to Kasara, the National Park’s head quarter.

The company provided lunch but didn’t ask if we were vegetarian so there was some meat and eggs that we gave to the guides. We didn’t realise we would have to carry lunch luckily we had space in the backpack. Take lots of your own water we carried 4 litres for 2 of us, it wasn’t enough it was so hot. Our guides were very informative but we felt like we delayed at some rest stops for too long and as a result we just missed seeing the tiger at the waterhole. At the end of the trip in Chitwan everyone was really happy. Dipas found activities to satisfy everyone. He did his best to find animals in the safari , and we also were lucky ! I communicated with Dipas and he arranged a tour that worked around my schedule, including airport pick up/drop off, meals, and lodging/home stays. I requested a strenuous hiking trek and Dipas delivered! We had 2 full days of walking, a Jeep safari day, and a 1/2 day of canoe trip (maybe 30min in the canoe) and short hiking. We didn't see a tiger, but saw just about everything else in the park! So many rhinos that I stopped taking pictures unless it was perfect (probably 50 rhinos), muggar crocs, gharials, gaurs (wild ox), multiple sloth bears including one with a baby on its back, mongoose, multiple boar, cobra, macaques, langurs, spotted deer, barking deer, army-owned elephants, and so many birds (rollers, storks, herons, fish eagles, kingfishers, etc.) Dipas and the other guide, Maya, were extra cautious about my safety the entire time and were incredibly knowledgeable about the animals, birds, and plants that we encountered. (That's not true of all guides in Nepal.) They were also genuinely fun people to spend 4 days with while trekking through the jungle. My suggestion is to let them know that you want to eat what they're eating (not American sandwiches) and you'll be in for some amazing trail food. I eat gluten free and had more than enough food every day (potatoes, curry, rice, eggs, etc.). We organised a three-day walking, canoeing and jeep safari with Chitwan Tiger Guides and Mini-Library Service. Dipas tailored the tour to suit our requirements (mostly walking, with half day canoe and half day jeep, homestay accommodation). Our guides, Kumar and Maya, were friendly, good humoured and very knowledgeable about the nature of Chitwan. They were genuinely enthusiastic about helping us to see as much wildlife as possible, and identify all the birds with the help of the guidebook. We covered many miles on foot each day, traversing through the park from Sauraha to Maghauli. The homestays were basic but welcoming and provided good food and packed lunches. • 060hrs: Pick up from your lobby hotel in Sauraha.

• 0830hrs: Start jungle trekking on THE WILDERNESS OF HEART OF JUNGLE TRAIL. Again, before we start the trekking we brief about the Animal’s behaviour and safety idea against the Animal. And walking style, and jungle communication language. The walking area is plain and we will walk for more or less 2-3 hours. (On the jungle walk we will take you to a possible area where there is water, grass and forest) on the walk sometime we will take you to an observation tower and make you break there.
• 0120 hrs. we make a LUNCH break on the observation tower in the park. It is possible to see some wildlife from the observation tower, such as tigers, rhinos, bears, deer, many birds, etc.
• 0130 hrs. start Jeep safari. After having lunch on the tower jeep will come to you and you go on the jeep for Safari. Jeep will take you through the grassland, forest, by the lakes. Jeep will take you main two lake called LAMI LAKE, which is very famous for mass magar crocodiles, many birds, rhinos, deer, bears, and more….
• Crocodile breeding centre: after driving for about 2 hrs jeep will take you Gharial crocodile breeding centre. And make you 20min break to visit the centre. For everything guide will assist you,
• Again jeep will take you to the different famous and biggest lake in the park TAMOUR LAKE, which is also famous for the Tiger, Rhinos, Birds, bears and much more wildlife.
• Before sunset, we have to leave the park. Upon arrival at the ending point of the trip.

Victor M. Mukhin was born in 1946 in the town of Orsk, Russia. In 1970 he graduated the Technological Institute in Leningrad. Victor M. Mukhin was directed to work to the scientific-industrial organization "Neorganika" (Elektrostal, Moscow region) where he is working during 47 years, at present as the head of the laboratory of carbon sorbents.     Victor M. Mukhin defended a Ph. D. thesis and a doctoral thesis at the Mendeleev University of Chemical Technology of Russia (in 1979 and 1997 accordingly). Professor of Mendeleev University of Chemical Technology of Russia. Scientific interests: production, investigation and application of active carbons, technological and ecological carbon-adsorptive processes, environmental protection, production of ecologically clean food.
