Wherever you’re at in your parenting journey, there’s one thing I’m sure we can all agree on: Parenting is hard.

As much as we all wish there was a manual that we could follow, the truth is that every child is different including their personality, behavior, and challenges. There’s no parent on the planet who knows exactly what to say or do in every situation.

Whether you’re having a particularly challenging day or you’ve been questioning yourself for a while, there’s always another day to try again. Today we are sharing the best inspirational parenting quotes for those moments when you’re second guessing everything you’ve done and need a little encouragement to keep doing the best you can.

Why Parents Sometimes Need Inspirational Parenting Quotes

Great parents aren’t born, they’re made through all experiences and challenges that come with raising kids.

And just when you start to feel like you’ve got this parenting gig down, inevitably your child enters a new developmental stage or suddenly you’re faced with a new behavior you’ve never seen before.

On top of that, there’s still

  • housekeeping
  • work responsibilities
  • financial obligations
  • And your own mental health

But our children are only under our roofs for a limited amount of time so staying strong and doing our best we can as parents is our number one priority.

We know we have to keep going for them, so we do.

Our kids see us through a different lens than we see ourselves. In their eyes, we are heroes.

It doesn’t always feel so easy to live up to that role, but for them, we try.

And when we fail, we try again.

If you’re feeling tired, and need a little pick me up, check out our beautifully curated collection of inspirational parenting quotes .

They’re just what you need to keep going, even on your worst day.

Pick one, or a few, and write them on your bathroom mirror or make them the screensaver on your phone.

Remember that no matter how hard you are on yourself, I can pretty much guarantee you that your kids think you’re the best parent in the whole wide world.

Table of Contents

The Joys and Challenges of Parenthood

Bringing up a child is a journey . You’ll experience plenty of highs and several lows. Quite honestly, it’s a rollercoaster ride that keeps you on your toes. The rewards, however, are unparalleled, making every twist and turn worth it.

Rewards may not come in the form of tangible presents or accolades. They’re often the little achievements – your kid’s first word, their first step, being able to tie their shoelace without assistance. It’s in these moments you understand the essence of parenthood – a feeling that’s sublime and profound.

On the flip side, parenthood isn’t always rainbows and butterflies. It’s wrought with challenges that test your patience and resilience. There’s the seemingly endless cycle of cooking, feeding, cleaning, ensuring the child’s safety, and let’s not forget the tiresome chore of getting your little one to bed. Quite frankly, it’s an exhausting endeavor that many underestimate.

Despite the challenges, the unmistakable joy of parenting is in watching the little ones grow and blossom. Nurturing their talents, witnessing their milestones, and being a part of their journey bring a sense of fulfilment that’s hard to put into words. There’s a saying that aptly sums up this sentiment – it goes: “Parenthood is the only place you can experience heaven and hell at the same time.”

To put it in perspective, let’s examine some insightful parenting quotes from individuals who’ve sailed these occasionally stormy, but mostly calm and fulfilling waters of parenthood. At times, these quotes might make you nod in agreement, laugh, or even tear up a bit. But most importantly, they’ll remind you that the ride’s worth it, even without the concept of a finish line. Keep reading, because the quotes I’ve compiled are made to resonate with everyone, across the spectrum of parenthood.

Wisdom from Experienced Parents

Parenting Quotes

As we delve deeper into the realm of parenthood, let’s journey alongside seasoned moms and dads. These experienced parents have worn the hat of a teacher, guide, friend, and sometimes even the villain in their children’s stories. It’s from this lineage of wisdom that we’ve curated a roundup of insightful parenting quotes. Quotes that bring solace and motivation to parents around the globe.

There’s no better way to absorb the essence of these parenting quotes than by looking at them through the lens of parents who’ve journeyed down the apparently chaotic, yet surprisingly rewarding path of raising children. Each quote reflects a certain phase of the journey, or a unique perspective of looking at your little one grow.

One of my favorites, by Elizabeth Stone, captures the all-encompassing emotional investment parenthood brings about, “Deciding to have a child – it’s momentous. It is to decide forever to have your heart go walking around outside your body” .

Quite a vivid image, isn’t it? These words echo with parents universally who put inflating heart balloons into their kids’ backpacks every day, as they step outside their homes.

Similarly, inspirational author Marianne Williamson aptly summarizes the lifelong learning which parenting is, “There’s no such thing as a perfect parent. So just be a real one.”

Unravelling the depth of these words, we understand that it’s not about ticking boxes or achieving ‘perfect parent’ status. It’s about being there for your child, through smiles and tears, achievements, and failures.

Each seasoned parent can probably relate their journey to a quote that really resonated with them. And what’s marvellous is, that these quotes not only inspire but also stand as fuel, propelling them through this rollercoaster ride called parenthood.

So as you continue sailing through the highs and lows of parenthood, I invite you to embrace the wisdom embedded in the words of experienced parents. As we unravel these parenting quotes one by one, allow them to guide your steps, lighten your heart, and reassure you that you’re not alone in this fascinating journey.

Perspective on Parenting

Parenting Quotes

As an experienced parent and blogger, I’ve ridden the rollercoaster of parenting joys and challenges. Throughout my journey, I’ve found solace in wise words from others navigating a similar path. I’ve used quotes to both understand and articulate my experience – the intense love, the profound worry, the moments of doubt, and the sheer elation.

Parenting quotes remind me of the vast community of parents around the globe, each putting their unique spin on one of life’s greatest adventures. They recount shared feelings and experiences while offering different vantage points on the journey, making them a powerful resource for inspiration.

Here are two of my favourite quotes, nudging us towards appreciation and growth in the parenting journey.

Elizabeth Stone nailed it when she said, “ Deciding to have a child – it’s momentous. It is to decide forever to have your heart go walking around outside your body .” Stone plunges to the heart of the matter, gently reminding us that parenting is an emotional marathon. Her words echo in the chambers of many parents’ hearts, attesting their inevitable connection to their children in an emotionally charged relationship.

Another great quote that continually guides me is by Marianne Williamson. She said, “ It takes courage… to endure the sharp pains of self-discovery rather than choose to take the dull pain of unconsciousness that would last the rest of our lives .” This quote invites introspection, urging us to brave the inherent challenges and foster growth in ourselves and our children.

Armed with these sage words of wisdom, we can confidently steer through the winding roads of parenting. Keep these quotes close to your heart and let them ground you as you traverse this fulfilling path.

Finding Humor in the Chaos

funny Parenting Quotes

When it comes to parenting, it isn’t all about the tears; laughter plays a key role too. We often underestimate the power of humour and its significant weight in making the parenting journey lighter. For this, I would like to share two of my favourite humorous quotes.

Comedian Jerry Seinfeld once said, “Having a two-year-old is like having a blender that you don’t have the top for.” This humorous quote underscores our daily instances of unmitigated chaos, best portrayed when our precious little ones are in their ‘Terrible Twos’ phase. With their incessant energy, insatiable curiosity, and knack for turning orderly homes into disaster zones, they’re quite that undeniable whirling blender.

On a similar note, the tranquility-shattering shrieks of a newborn in the wee hours have been aptly summed up by author Jill Woodhull, “Sleep at this age is just preventative parenting for sanity’s sake.” It gives me, and I’m sure many parents, something to laugh about during those tumultuous early mornings. Gleaning humour from such situations is a testament to our adaptability and resilience as parents.

Everyone’s parenting journey is, of course, unique, but it includes some universal moments, such as dealing with a lump of playdough in your newly washed hair or a surprise artwork on the living room wall with permanent markers. When viewed through the lens of humour, these tough times can indeed become treasured memories.

So, next time you find playdough in your hair or permanent marker on your wall, remember, that it’s essential to laugh as often as possible. Quotes like these remind us that humour can cushion your fall when the roller coaster ride of parenthood takes an unexpected steep turn downward. Yet the ride goes on, without a pause for breath, or a chance to check if your hair still looks presentable.

Quotes for Every Parent

Parenting Quotes

As we move along in this article, I’ve got another treat for you. A compilation of Quotes for Every Parent that provides that bit of wisdom or solace to make our parenting journey clearer. Often, parenting is about finding balance, and these quotes encompass that notion.

One of my favourites comes from Barbara Coloroso who said, “I f kids come to us from strong, healthy functioning families, it makes our job easier. If they do not come to us from strong, healthy, functioning families, it makes our job more important. ” I find this quote quite moving because it resonates with every parent’s responsibility, regardless of their background.

Actor Brad Pitt provided us with another brilliant quote about understanding our kids, stating, “ Kids are so delicate. They absorb everything. They’re not judging you.” This quote highlights the beauty and innocence of childhood, reminding us about the influence we wield on our children.

Here are a few other impactful quotes in a simple table:

These quotes serve not just as reminders but could also be powerful tools to help every parent find their bearings. In the world of parenting where days are long, and years are short, let’s keep laughing, learning, and leaning on each other.

Note : Stay tuned as we discuss more about the world of parenting in our up-and-coming segments.

So, we’ve journeyed through the world of parenting quotes, finding humor and wisdom in the words of those who’ve walked this path before us. We’ve laughed at the chaos, nodded in agreement with the trials, and found solace in shared experiences. We’ve discovered that these quotes aren’t just words, they’re lifelines, offering us perspective and reassurance when we need it most. They remind us that we’re not alone in our parenting journey and that there’s power in shared laughter and learned wisdom.

As we navigate the unpredictable waters of parenthood, let’s keep these quotes close to our hearts, using them as our compass. Because in the end, it’s all about laughter, learning, and leaning on each other. And remember, every parent’s journey is unique, but the love we have for our children is a bond we all share.

You may house their bodies but not their souls, for their souls dwell in the house of tomorrow, which you cannot visit, not even in your dreams. You may strive to be like them but seek not to make them like you. For life goes not backward nor tarries with yesterday. You are the bows from which your children as living arrows are sent forth. The archer sees the make upon the path of the infinite, and He bends you with His might that His arrows may go swift and far. Let your bending in the archer’s hand be for gladness. For even as He loves the arrow that flies, so He also loves the bow that is stable.” – Kahlil Gibran

  • “Through the blur, I wondered if I was alone or if other parents felt the same way I did – that everything involving our children was painful in some way. The emotions, whether they were joy, sorrow, love or pride, were so deep and sharp that in the end they left you raw, exposed and yes, in pain. The human heart was not designed to beat outside the human body and yet, each child represented just that – a parent’s heart bared, beating forever outside its chest.” ― Debra Ginsberg

The trouble with the family is that children grow out of childhood, but parents never grow out of parenthood.

The Comic Encyclopedia

You know how parents rattle on to you about, "Oh, you won't believe your life will never be the same," and you think, Why can't these people just get over it? All they're doing is yakking about their kids. It's such a bore. And then you have kids and you just want to do the same thing.

For many, parenthood is a part of successfully completing an important stage in life. As couples begin to see and understand the passage of their own lives, the need to pass along life experiences to new generations enhances the meaning of life.

How To Have A Baby: Overcoming Infertility

Insecure about assuming such a significant role, which is like nothing they have ever done before, expectant parents are willing to do whatever it takes to make certain they get the right start on the parenting track. But preparing for parenthood is not just about doing or buying. It is about contemplating what it really means to be a parent. It is about recognizing how a baby will irrevocably transform their lives as individuals and as a couple.

The Journey to Parenthood: Myths, Reality and What Really Matters

We live in a society that glorifies pregnancy and parenthood. A new life is certainly worth celebrating, but many men and women muddle through this enormous transition feeling inadequate, scared, stressed and even angry. In some ways, new parents have been set up to fail by cultural ideals that characterize the birth of a child as the most wonderful time in a couple's life. Society has sugar-coated the realities of the first-time parenting experience, leaving many new parents with a saccharine aftertaste. As a result, these new parent initiates believe they are not experiencing the real thing but some mediocre substitute, when they do not feel an instant bond with their babies, when they do not sense a more intense love in their marriages, and when the postpartum period does not consist of endless joy but rather of tension, unpredictability and a yearning for the way life used to be.

No one is ever quite ready; everyone is always caught off guard. Parenthood chooses you. And you open your eyes, look at what you've got, say "Oh, my gosh," and recognize that of all the balls there ever were, this is the one you should not drop.

journey to parenthood quotes

Get your child speaking the minority language more actively right now!

76 Wonderful Quotes on Parenthood

  • February 26, 2014

Parenthood: Even when it's hell, it's heaven.

When my daughter was born, nearly 10 years ago, I instantly became a father, a parent. I didn’t immediately become a parent of a bilingual child, too—this happened more gradually over time.

It’s worth keeping firmly in mind that we’re all parents first, and parents of bilingual children second. As I stress in What to Do When Your Bilingual Child Won’t Speak Your Language …

The bilingual journey, for both you and your children, should be more joy than burden. I understand the frustrations that can come with supporting the minority language, but we can’t let those frustrations weigh on our day-to-day relationships with our kids. After all, from the child’s point of view, being loved will always be more important than being bilingual.

To emphasize this point, and reflect on our primary role as parents, I’ve assembled an array of great quotes on parenthood for this post. The more effective we want to be as parents of bilingual children, the more effective we need to be, first and foremost, as parents.

Russia has a common saying “Children are the flowers of life” and a less common ending “on the graves of their parents”. Some days I think the ending is very appropriate and some days I just enjoy the flowers.
