Journey to the Savage Planet Guide Wiki

Our Journey to the Savage Planet Guide Wiki contains all of our individual guides on the game that’s just released for Xbox One, PC, and PS4.

Journey to the Savage Planet is a satirical take on space exploration. As an explorer for Kindred Aerospace (the fourth-best interstellar exploration company), you’ve been sent to AR Y-26, an uncharted planet. Your mission is to catalog all the alien flora, fauna, and anything else you might find, to determine whether or not it could sustain human life.

The problem is, you start off your adventure with… basically nothing. No real tools, no proper weapon, but you do have a handy 3D printer and a hilarious AI companion to keep you chuckling away on your adventure.

With so much to see, scan, shoot and explore, it’s easy to get lost in Journey to the Savage Planet, or be unsure where you’re supposed to go next.

Our Journey to the Savage Planet guide wiki includes a handful of helpful guides to get you through what lies in store on AR Y-26, and get you home.

Mature Content Description

The developers describe the content like this:

Players use laser blasters to shoot enemy creatures; players can also kick aliens into carnivorous plants, resulting in splatters of green blood. The game depicts some comical TV ads that contain instances crude humor: a phone-sex commercial for a gelatinous blob creature (“Chat with the most seductive soft bodies in space...”); a fast-food commercial showing human limbs going through a meat grinder. In one sequence, players encounter a creature with an anus-like orifice; players' scanning equipment confirms “a festering butthole” and “pile of poop.” During the course of the game, certain plants release a gas that alters the screen and color saturation; text indicates that the plants “disperse thick mists of hallucinogenic spores. Enjoy responsibly.”

Tips to complete every Science Experiment

Completing Journey to the Savage Planet ’s Science Experiment side missions will unlock additional tiers of upgrades for your gear.

The side missions take a little work, but the upgrades are worth it. In this guide, we’ve got tips for all 15 Science Experiments, along with locations for completing them.

For Science! — Achieve Rank 2: Field Explorer

Live samples.

Approach the following live creatures and tag them using the Live Sampler.

  • Pufferbirds are the ball-shaped space chickens you encounter pretty much everywhere, but there are four in the ice cave near Landing Site // Outside the Javelin .
  • Baboushka are the little, two-headed, screaming lizards. You’ll find several along the path between Landing Site // Outside the Javelin and Landing Site // Towering Crystals .
  • Pikemanders are the big, spinning lizards. There’s one just southeast of Elevated Realm // Repaired Teleporter .

Kill four creatures with an Alpha Pufferbird explosion.

There are several Pufferbirds and an Alpha in the valley to the southeast after you exit the ice caves near Landing Site // Outside the Javelin . Use Bait to draw them into a tight group, and then shoot the Alpha .

Safety First

Fall 50 meters and save yourself with the Thrusters.

The only trick to this side mission is finding a tall enough cliff. We got it by going to Elevated Realm // Pillars of Xzorgana , and jumping off of the southwestern edge, down toward Elevated Realm // Xerophilous Landing .

Flight Risk

Kill 5 ground creatures while they are airborne.

All you have to do is kick Pufferbirds for this one. Again, look in the area between Landing Site // Outside the Javelin and Landing Site // Towering Crystals . Keep your aim high, and try to shoot them at the top of their arc.

Use your scanner to document at least 25% of the planet’s ecosystem.

For Science! — Rank 3: Explorer

Live samples 2.

Approach the following live creatures and tag them using your Live Sampler.

  • Kapyena are the fast, angry, Xenomorph-like dog-things — you can tell them apart from Pikemanders by the shell covering their face and their speed. Head up the hill to the southwest of Itching Fields // Fungi of Si’ned VII .
  • Jellywaft are the floating, turquoise-colored octopus-things. There’re a few in the area after the ice caves to the south of Landing Site // Outside the Javelin .
  • Infected Pufferbird are the sickly versions of Pufferbirds with the exploding tails. The caves above and to the southwest of the Itching Fields // Festering Chasm are full of them. There’s also a bunch on a floating island to the south of Elevated Realm // Xerophilous Landing .

Corrosive Rain

Hit two creatures with the acid burst from a single dying Prime Jellywaft.

The Prime Jellywaft are the pink ones that shoot acid. Head to Itching Fields // Planetary Flotsam to find one that’s usually near a pair of regular Jellywafts. Use some bait to draw them close together.

Easy Target

Kill four creatures while they are stuck in Binding Bile within three seconds.

This one is easiest to get in conjunction with the next one. Head to the Itching Fields // Festering Chasm . Climb up onto the mushrooms overlooking the area. Drop a Bait , and then hit the Pufferbirds that gather with a Binding Bile . Since they’re amber-armored, throw a Blight Bomb , and immediately follow it with a Bombegranate .

Kill three amber-armored Pufferbirds with a single Bombegranate .

This one is easiest to get in conjunction with the previous one.

Use your scanner to document at least 50% of the planet’s ecosystem.

For Science! — Rank 4: Senior Executive Explorer

Live samples 3.

  • Slamphibian are the frog-gorilla things you find in Elevated Realm // Slamphibian Pit .
  • Schnozo are the whack-a-mole, gopher-things that pop out of smoke spouts. There’s a nest of them just a little east of Elevated Realm // Xerophilous Landing .
  • Imperial Scarabs are the giant, electrical beetles. There’s a couple right next to Elevated Realm // Xerophilous Landing .

Let’s Bounce

Kill five creatures with a single Charge Shot.

There are several Pufferbirds and an Alpha in the valley to the southeast after you exit the ice caves near Landing Site // Outside the Javelin . (This is the same place we recommended for the Nuke It Science Experiment above). Use Bait to draw them into a tight group, and then fire off your Charge Shot.

Kill four creatures while they are shocked by lightning within three seconds.

This was the hardest for us to get. Head into the ice cave to the south of Landing Site // Outside the Javelin . Go into the room with the four Pufferbirds, and kill all four of them — they’ll respawn momentarily. Reload your pistol .

Throw down two Baits (a single Bait will only draw in three, so you need a backup), stand near the Bait on the ground, and switch to Shock Fruit . When the Pufferbirds respawn, they’ll head straight for the Bait.

As soon as you see all four, fire off the Shock Fruit. Run around the cluster. Fire off another Shock Fruit to make sure you’re shocking all four at once. Immediately empty your clip into the Pufferbirds.

Even with the video above might still take a couple tries.

I Know Karate

Kill 10 creatures in a row using only melee attacks and without getting hurt.

The easiest way to do this one is to start at Landing Site // Outside the Javelin , and work your way south through any Pufferbirds you find. Just watch out for the Alphas.

Use your scanner to document at least 75% of the planet’s ecosystem.

Journey To The Savage Planet: All Teleporter Locations | Fast Travel Guide

Unlock every fast-travel waypoint with these locations. A few near the end are easy to miss.

journey to the savage planet wiki

Teleporters are the best way to keep your materials safe in Journey To The Savage Planet . The more teleporters you unlock, the less time you’ll have to spend in the dangerous savage planet. After getting a valuable Alien Alloy or a pile of ore, if there’s a nearby Teleporter, you can zip back to your ship and deposit the stuff permanently. There are 20 teleporters you can unlock in the game, and some of the final porters are actually pretty tricky to find.

It took me an embarrassingly long amount of time to get the final teleporter — there are two very optional ones in the Elevated Realm, the third region of the game. To spot teleporters from far away, look in the sky and keep an eye out for a red crystal. These glowing red crystals turn green once the marked teleporter has been activated. If you’re exploring a new area and want to find the closest porter, just look to the sky.

journey to the savage planet wiki

Teleporters are alien structures that allow you to instantly fast-travel back to your ship, or to any of the other teleporters you’ve unlocked on the planetary network. All you have to do is find a teleporter to add it to the network.

Landing Site:

Teleporter #1 : Tower Crystals – Follow the left path at the Verdant Wilds of Zyl from the entrance to the Shimmering Caves / Towering Crystals of Madness. That’s where you’ll find the first portal shortcut.

Teleporter #2 : Meteor Crater – From the Verdant Wilds of Zyl, you’ll need the Jump Thrusters to access the back area with the Meat Vortex, which leads into the Tranquil Crevasse of Tranquility. Go right and up, and you’ll eventually reach this Teleporter past two more Meat Vortex barriers.

Teleporter #3 : Cliffs of Mt. Gzarfyn – At the top of the Towering Crystals of Madness, you’ll find this teleporter before reaching the dangerous Cragdaw boss in the volcano above.

Teleporter #4 : The Broken Bridge – Found outside the massive tower doors. This teleporter is right after the Cragdaw boss, and it will send you straight to the next teleporter.

Teleporter #5 : Tower’s Entrance – Back in the Landing Site, this teleporter is located behind the main tower door. You’ll need to activate the switch on the main control room in the Elevated Realm to unlock it.

The Itching Fields:

Teleporter #1 : Planetary Flotsam – The Broken Bridge teleporter will send you to (and unlock) the Planetary Flotsam teleporter in the Itching Fields.

Teleporter #2 : Festering Chasm – The portal is right in the center of the Festering Chasm. Just be prepared when you activate it, you’ll have to fight multiple waves of enemies in this area. Use Bombegranates to make life easier and defeat enemies with weak points.

Teleporter #3 : Fungi of Si’ned VII – Reach the Festering Chasm from the right path near the start of the Flotsam zone, then continue up the purple mushroom pads until you reach the Fungi of Si’ned VII. From here, go back-right down the hill from the shrine to find this portal.

Teleporter #4 : Festering Overhang – Located at the top of the rails leading up from the Festering Chasm teleporter path. Follow the rails higher and higher with the Advanced Proton Tether to reach the Lair of the Matriarch.

Teleporter #5 : Matriarch’s Lair – Found in the underground chamber beneath the Matriarch boss fight. This one leads to the next teleporter on our list.

The Elevated Realm:

Teleporter #1 : The Enigmatic Spire – Using the Matriarch’s Lair teleporter will take you straight to this porter.

Teleporter #2 : Xerophilous Landing – When you reach the Elevated Realm, follow the right path from the Enigmatic Tower to wild area filled with strange creatures. That’s where you’ll find this first teleporter.

Teleporter #3 : Repaired Teleporter – From the Xerophilous Landing, travel to the desert-like area down the hill and swing under the huge floating island to another large desert with a dangerous new type of Pikemander. The teleporter is in the cave.

Teleporter #4 : Pillars of Xzorgana – This teleporter as at the top of the extremely tall vertical pillars section, located near the previous teleporter. You’ll need 5+ Grapple Seeds to climb the pillars are reach the top.

Teleporter #5 : Tears of T’bo – From the Pillars of Xzorgana, take the magnetic rails upward to the giant island with red plants. At the top of the waterfall cave, you’ll find this porter.

Teleporter #6 : Slamphibian Pit – Found in the back of the Tears of T’bo area — it’s in the deep pit where you’ll encounter a pair of dangerous Slamphibians while acquiring one of your primary traversal powers. There’s a teleporter in the cave that breaks open at the bottom.

Teleporter #7 : Infernal Cauldron – From the Pillars of Xzorgana teleporter, look for the black rock path on the island pointing toward another island that’s dripping with lava. Swing over, then climb the platforms on the back of the hill.

Teleporter #8 : Crackling Pedestal – Take the right path (two magnetic rails and a swing) to reach an desert island with this teleporter.

Within The Spire:

Teleporter #1 : Moist Vestibule – The Tower’s Entrance teleporter sends you straight to this portal at the beginning of the Spire.

Teleporter #2 : Vault Floor 4 – This final teleporter unlocks after you defeat the final boss in the spire.
