NBC Sports airs every stage of the 110th Tour de France, including live daily start-to-finish coverage on Peacock .

Additional encores of each stage air on USA at 2 a.m. ET most days. All NBC and USA Network coverage also streams on NBCSports.com/live and the NBC Sports app. Complete broadcast information is here .

Peacock will also air daily live pre-race shows setting up each stage.

The Tour began July 1 with the Grand Départ in Spain before crossing into France on the third stage.

The Tour covers France’s five biggest mountain ranges, including eight mountain stages and four summit finishes.

The Tour will not have a time trial on the penultimate day as it did the last three years. Instead, the 20th stage, usually the last competitive stage for the yellow jersey, includes five significant climbs.

This is the first Tour since 2009 to include the last three men to win a Tour. That’s Dane Jonas Vingegaard, who went from a fish-packing facility worker years ago to the top of pro cycling in 2022; Slovenian Tadej Pogacar, who in 2020 became at 21 the second-youngest winner in race history, then repeated in 2021, and Colombian Egan Bernal, who in 2019 became the first South American to win the Tour.

Mark Cavendish, a 38-year-old Brit aiming to break his tie for the career Tour de France stage wins record of 34, crashed out in the eighth stage of his final Tour.

The 2022 Tour de France starts Thursday with a 13km individual time trial in Copenhagen and ends on July 24 with its traditional finish on the Champs-Elysees in Paris.

Could we see a three-peat champion crowned this year? That could be the case as Slovenian Tadej Pogacar looks to make it three in row, having won the last two Tours.

Could this be the year we see a U.S. cyclist take the Tour de France crown? Sepp Kuss and Brandon McNulty are a few of the American hopefuls that are looking to bring back an eligible win at the event for the first time since Greg LeMond's back-to-back victories in 1989 and 1990.

Tour de France

Nbc sports will still broadcast the tour de france this year. here’s the full tv schedule, here's how to watch the tour de france broadcast in the united states and canada..

The Tour de France will still be shown on cable television this year in the United States, even though much of the broadcast in North America is being switched to streaming platforms only.

On Tuesday NBC Universal finally revealed its programming lineup for the 2021 Tour de France, and the plan calls for 20 stages to be shown live or “tape-delayed” on NBC Sports Network, and the final stage on the Champs Élysées to be aired live on NBC Network. Phil Liggett will host the telecast alongside analyst Bob Roll, with reporter Steve Porino reporting on-site in France.

NBC Sports will also broadcast the traditional Tour de France pre-race show, hosted by Christian Vande Velde and Chris Horner, with retired rider Adam Blythe reporting from France.

All 21 stages will also be streamed live and without commercial interruption on NBC’s streaming service Peacock Premium, which replaces NBC Sports Gold as the race’s primary streaming platform in the U.S. Peacock Premium is free for Comcast Xfinity subscribers in the U.S., depending on a subscriber’s package. Fans can also purchase a Peacock Premium online subscription for $49 a year, or for $4.99 a month.

The decision to still broadcast the Tour de France on traditional television ends months of speculation that the race would only be live-streamed in the U.S. this year. Earlier this year  NBC Universal announced its plans to shutter NBC Sports Network at the end of 2021, and insiders speculated that the move would permanently switch the Tour de France broadcast to other channels, or to live-stream only.

In Canada, the Tour has switched to streaming-only broadcast. FloSports has exclusive rights to broadcast all 21 stages of the race on its cycling site FloBikes.com.

If you live in Canada, your options are less varied than those available to devices connecting to the internet from the United States.

FloBikes has exclusive broadcast rights in Canada for this year’s Tour. An annual subscription to Flo is CA$149.99 or CA$12.50/month.

Below is NBC’s schedule for Tour de France coverage across NBC Sports Network, NBC, and Peacock Premium. All times are Eastern Standard Time.

2023 Tour de France TV, live stream schedule

NBC Sports airs every stage of the 110th Tour de France, including live daily start-to-finish coverage on Peacock .

NBC and USA Network will also air live coverage of the first week. Additional encores of each stage air on USA at 2 a.m. ET most days. All NBC and USA Network coverage also streams on NBCSports.com/live and the NBC Sports app. Complete broadcast information is here .

Peacock will also air daily live pre-race shows setting up each stage.

The Tour begins July 1 with the Grand Départ in Spain before crossing into France on the third stage.

The Tour covers France’s five biggest mountain ranges, including eight mountain stages and four summit finishes. The last summit finish will be the 15th stage followed by a rest day and the lone time trial, a 14-mile race of truth.

The Tour will not have a time trial on the penultimate day as it did the last three years. Instead, the 20th stage, usually the last competitive stage for the yellow jersey, includes five significant climbs.

This will be the first Tour since 2016 to include the two men who won the title the previous two years. That’s Slovenian Tadej Pogacar , who in 2020 became at 21 the second-youngest winner in race history, then repeated in 2021. And Dane Jonas Vingegaard , who went from a fish-packing facility worker to the top of pro cycling last year.

The most compelling storyline outside of the yellow jersey will likely be 38-year-old Brit Mark Cavendish , who is tied with Belgian legend Eddy Merckx for the record 34 Tour stage wins. Cavendish said he will retire after this season.

What channel is the Tour de France on?

You can watch the Tour de France on NBC , USA Network, and Peacock . You’ll get the most live coverage from Peacock, which streams every stage and the daily Tour de France Pre-Race Show . USA Network shows a mix of live and encore coverage, while NBC carries select portions of the race—primarily an encore of the final stage in Paris.

Pro tip: To heighten your Tour de France viewing experience, download the official Tour de France mobile app on your Android or iOS device. The app comes with course maps, real-time stats, and live commentary.

2023 Tour de France schedule

This year’s Tour de France begins on July 1 in Spain before crossing into France on the third day. As usual, the 21-day route features a solid mix of flat to mountainous terrain. Two rest days break up the action before racers make their way to the Avenue des Champs-Élysées in Paris on July 23.

Data effective as of post date. Race times include Peacock’s live Tour de France Pre-Race Show coverage.

2023 Tour de France Femmes schedule

Just as the men’s tour wraps up in Paris, the Tour de France Femmes takes off from Clermont-Ferrand. This is the second edition of the women’s race and features an eight-day route ending with an individual time trial in Pau.

Best TV plans for watching the Tour de France

A Peacock subscription is the best way to watch the Tour de France. Starting at $4.99 a month, the streaming service provides live and on-demand access to every stage of the men’s and women’s races. You’ll also get daily pre- and post-race studio coverage during the men’s competition, plus race highlights and rider interviews.

If you’re only interested in the Tour de France, you can cancel your subscription after the final stage. Otherwise, Peacock’s cycling coverage doesn’t stop there. The service also hosts the Liège–Bastogne–Liège, Critérium du Dauphiné, Vuelta a España, and Paris Tours. It’s also home to the Summer Olympics , which features road race and track cycling events every four years.

How to watch the Tour de France for free

*CableTV.com utilizes paid Amazon links. Amazon.com Price; $47.99 (as of 5/3/23 11:30 a.m. CT). Read full disclaimer .

The most convenient way to watch the Tour de France for free is by using an over-the-air (OTA) antenna to pick up your local NBC station. Unfortunately, NBC doesn’t show a lot of race coverage—mostly encore presentations of early and late stages. But it never hurts having an antenna in your TV setup.

If you don’t have an antenna, most cost between $20.00 and $60.00. We recommend the Mohu Leaf 50 for its 60-mile range and slim design. But you’ll want to verify the distance of your nearest NBC station by entering your zip code into the Federal Communications Commission’s Reception Map Tool . That’ll help determine if you need a more robust antenna, which we feature on our Best OTA Antennas page.

Pro tip: To make up for every stage NBC doesn’t air, you can stream free race recaps on NBC Sports’ YouTube channel .

The 110th Tour de France will stream on Peacock and air on NBC and USA Network throughout July 2023. Peacock offers the best way to watch Le Tour because it streams every stage from beginning to end. It also carries the entire women’s race, which begins the same day as the men’s competition ends.

If you’re a cycling fan without access to fast and reliable internet, most cable and satellite TV services have NBC and USA Network. Those channels don’t show as much Tour de France coverage as Peacock, but you’ll still see the most vital moments of the race.

How to watch the Tour de France FAQ

Can you watch the tour de france on nbc.

Yes, some Tour de France coverage airs on NBC. But you’ll want a Peacock Premium subscription to watch every stage from start to finish.

How can I watch today’s Tour de France stage?

NBC Sports, Peacock retain Tour de France broadcast rights in US through 2029 - North American roundup

Gavin Mannion joins Tanner Putt to lead US national road team, Athens Twilight tapped for American Crit Cup, Valley of the Sun opens early US road season

US homes will be able to view live Tour de France coverage for an additional six years thanks to a renewed deal between NBC Sports, its streaming service Peacock and Amaury Sport Organisation, which owns the Tour de France.

The exclusive US broadcast rights, which will run 2024 to 2029, also include ASO’s Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift, Vuelta a España, Paris-Roubaix , Paris-Roubaix Femmes avec Zwift and several other sporting events. This keeps the world’s most prestigious cycling stage race with NBC Sports and Comcast since 2001 for the US market.

The current agreement with NBC Sports and ASO went through 2023 to broadcast the 110th Tour de France, July 1-23. In 2024, all stages of the Tour de France will be exclusively broadcast live in the US by Peacock, the video streaming service operated by NBCUniversal, with NBC Sports providing a simulcast for select stages and producing pre-race and post-race recap programming.

"We are delighted to be able to extend our long-term partnership with the NBCU group, which promotes the Tour de France and all the major A.S.O. sporting events to the American public on a cross-platform basis, including women's cycling such as the Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift,” said Yann Le Moënner, CEO of ASO.

“The combined coverage via Peacock, which will show the entire races from the beginning to the end, and network television, will ensure everyone has access to the best of world cycling. NBC will remain the home of cycling in the United States for another six years, and in 2029 we will celebrate the 29th anniversary of a historic partnership.”

Former US pro cyclists Tanner Putt and Gavin Mannion have started new careers with the USA Cycling National Team. Putt serves as the Director of Road, while Mannion begins as the director of the junior men’s program.

“After spending the majority of my junior and U23 career with the USA Cycling National Team, I’m looking forward to being back with the program that gave so many opportunities as a young racer and now working together to build for the future,” Putt said on his Instagram feed.

Putt, a two-time U23 national champion on the road, worked most recently as the team director for the US-based domestic elite CS Velo Racing team. He raced eight years in the pro peloton, his last year in 2019 with Arapahoe-Hincapie p/b BMC.

Mannion hung up his racing kit with Human Powered Health at the start of the calendar, having raced as a junior with the U23 national team and then 12 full seasons as a pro. He won the 2018 Colorado Classic after a runner-up position in the GC at the 2017 Tour of Utah and added a pair of stage wins at the Le Tour de Savoie Mnt Blanc in 2020, all showcasing his climbing ability.

The US National Team will begin a European swing in June, looking to grab UCI points to earn spots for the World Championships. The first Nations Cup events on the schedule look to be Paris-Roubaix Juniors in April as well as Course de la Paix in early May.

Athens Twilight joins American Criterium Cup as series opener in April

Bryan Gomez of Best Buddies Racing edges Ty Magner of L39ION of Los Angeles for victory at 2022 Athens Twilight Criterium

One of the longest-running and most popular criterium events in the US, the Athens Orthopedic Clinic Twilight, has been added as the 10th race in the 2023 American Criterium Cup . The second-year series tapped the Athens, Georgia, race for its opening round Saturday, April 22.

The Athens Twilight, now in its 43rd year, also launches Speed Week, a series of seven criteriums contested in a span of nine days across the southeastern US.

“This is a bedrock race for athletes, and this race highlights the deep history of criterium racing in the South. The competition level, the crowd’s excitement and the venue never disappoint,” ACC Administrator Peter Discoe said about the Athens Twilight.

Across the year-long points competitions for men and women, the American Criterium Cup offers a total prize purse of $100,000. Teams and riders are also eligible for an additional $400,000 in prize money and support provided by individual races. The ACC is considering revisions to the points system for 2023 so that it is less likely for a single rider to sweep both the overall and sprint competitions.

Across the seven races in Speed Week, $95,000 was up for grabs last year for pro men and women, which included a $15,000 bonus purse for overall Speed Week individuals and teams. Organisers are expected to match the same prize purse this season.

Valley of the Sun stage race returns

Valley of the Sun stage race is a is a three-day USA Cycling event operated by White Mountain Road Club

The opening stage race on the USA Cycling calendar takes place February 17-19 in the sun-baked southeastern United States. On the heels of Super Bowl LVII and a stop by the PGA TOUR, top amateur and pro cyclists from North America are next to migrate to the greater Phoenix, Arizona area for the 31st edition of the John  Earley Memorial Valley of the Sun stage race.

The Landis Cyclery-Trek Time Trial opens competition on Friday, followed by a road race Saturday and a criterium on Sunday. The Valley of the Sun stage race serves as the state’s largest USAC development road race series for juniors.

The three-day event provides a way for teams to assess talent and get in some early-season racing among most training camps for domestic teams.

Three UCI Continental women’s teams are on the start line this year - Virginia’s Blue Ridge TWENTY24, DNA Pro Cycling and Roxo Racing. Leading the way for the pro men’s field are Project Echelon Racing and L39ION of Los Angeles, both on the Continental level.

Cycling, Paris-Roubaix 2024: Preview, full schedule and how to watch live action

Road race world champion Mathieu van der Poel won the 2023 Paris-Roubaix and is the big favourite for this year's race.

Known as "The Hell of the North" or "A Sunday in Hell", the Paris-Roubaix is arguably the hardest one-day race on the road cycling calendar. This year it will take place on 6 April for the women and 7 April for the men.

The third Monument of the season concludes the 'cobbled classics' of this spring, and will mark the 119th edtion of the men's race and the fourth for the women.

Reigning men's champion Mathieu van der Poel is considered the outright favourite following his stunning solo victory in Sunday's Tour of Flanders .

Last year, Canadian Alison Jackson stunned the big names with a spectacular win from a breakaway in the women's race.

Find everything you need to know about the Paris-Roubaix 2024 below, including the riders to look out for and how to watch live.

The men's peloton will cycle 259.7km , including 55.7km of cobblestone roads . The organisers have also added 3.2km of pavés as compared to last year.

Compiègne will host the start of the race and, as always, it will finish in the iconic velodrome in Roubaix.

The three five-star sectors of pavé are at the Trouée d'Arenberg, Mons-en-Pévèle and the Carrefour de l'Arbre. They are often the most decisive in the race.

The riders will face 29 cobbled sectors in 2024.

Riders to watch at Paris-Roubaix 2024

Men's race - 2024 riders to watch.

  • Mathieu van der Poel (NED/Alpecin Deceuninck): Can anyone beat the defending champion in his current shape? Fresh off his third Tour of Flanders title, there is no doubt that the Dutch superstar is the man to beat at the Paris-Roubaix 2024. If van der Poel manages to win "The Hell of the North" for the second time in his career, he will be in joint 10th place for most cycling Monument wins in history with six victories.
  • Jasper Philipsen (BEL/Alpecin Deceuninck): Van der Poel's Belgian teammate is one of the fastest sprinters on the planet. He proved that by winning the points classification at the Tour de France and more recently, the 'sprinter's classic' Milano-Sanremo last month. Philipsen was the runner-up in 2023 and knows how to ride the cobblestones in Northern France.
  • Mads Pedersen (DEN/Lidl-Trek): The Dane beat van der Poel at the Gent-Wevelgem in a two-man sprint finish and by that showed that the big favourite is beatable. Pedersen was one of the victims of a mass crash during the Dwars door Vlaanderen last week, but the 2019 road race world champion seems to have recovered, as he tried to anticipate van der Poel in the Tour of Flanders with an early attack. Unfortunately for the Lidl-Trek rider, he ran out of juice and finished the race in 22nd place.
  • Nils Politt (GER/UAE Team Emirates): The UAE Team Emirates rode a solid Tour of Flanders and used their numbers to get Politt on the podium - and three riders in the top five. In 2019, the German finished second behind Philippe Gilbert. He will be eager to improve that result.

Women's race - 2024 riders to watch

  • Alison Jackson (CAN/EF Education-Cannondale): It was a big suprise when the Canadian upset the stars of the women's peloton last year and claimed the biggest victory of her career. The reigning champion has struggled to find her form from last spring, however, having a tenth place as her best result this season. Jackson will be an outsider for this year's race.
  • Lotte Kopecky (BEL/Team SD Worx-Protime): The road race world champion has started the year brilliantly by winning the UAE Tour overall, Strade Bianche Donne and Danilith Nokere Koerse. In Sunday's Tour of Flanders, the Belgian was suffering on the cobbled climbs and missed out on the podium spots. Nevertheless, Kopecky has previously taken a second place in Paris-Roubaix and is one of top contenders.
  • Elisa Longo Borghini (ITA/Lidl-Trek): The 2022 winner of Paris-Roubaix was back on the top step of the podium in the 2024 Tour of Flanders. Consistency is what characterises the 32-year-old Italian cyclist who always features in the final of the big one-day races.
  • Marianne Vos (NED/Team Visma|Lease a Bike): The 36-year-old cycling veteran added a 250th professional win to her palmares as she clinched the Dwars door Vlaanderen last week. Paris-Roubaix is still missing on her impressive list of victories though and the two-time Olympic champion can cement herself as one of the greatest of all time if she wins the prestigious cobbled classic.

The Paris 2024 Olympic Games are months away, and millions of spectators worldwide can expect an opening ceremony unlike any other.

The time-honored tradition kicks off in Paris, France, on Friday, July 26, 2024, launching the Summer Games, which will continue through Sunday, August 11, 2024. NBC and Peacock will host the live events , showcasing the globe’s finest athletes in swimming, gymnastics, and more.

A complete event list and schedule can be found on the NBC Olympics  page, as can information on athletes, results, news, and more.

For now, here’s everything the world can look forward to about the Olympic Games' opening ceremony and why officials say it will be bigger and better than ever:

About the Opening Ceremony

The grand ceremony is a formal tradition that began to take shape during the 1920 Olympic Games in Antwerp, Belgium, according to the official Olympics page . Since then, alterations have been made to make the ceremony what it is today, adhering to a protocol guide by the International Olympic Committee (I.O.C.) called the Olympic Charter.

“The philosophy and ceremonial aspects which surround the Olympic Games distinguish them from all other international sports events,” according to I.O.C. “Through music, song, dance, and fireworks, the opening and closing ceremonies invite people to discover the culture of the country in which the Games are taking place.”

The official website states that France’s capital city will host the hub of the Games, which will include 15 Olympic sites and 11 Paralympic sites, per the official website . Other events will occur in six separate stadiums across the country, including in the cities of Nice, Marseille, Bordeaux, Nantes, Lyon, and Saint-Etienne.

What to Expect

The 2024 Games’ opening ceremony “will be bold, original, and unique,” promising to become one of “the most memorable moments in Olympic history,” according to the 2024 Games’ website . What sets the upcoming spectacle apart from those of the past is that it will not take place in a stadium.

Instead, the event will bring sports into the city, featured along the Seine.

Where to Buy Tickets to the Paris Opening Ceremony

Also unlike ceremonies past, there will be no admission fee for hundreds of thousands of guests, something they say is “a major first.” The event is slated to be “the largest ever held in the history of the Games.”

“Taking on a new guise, the parade of athletes will be held on the Seine, with boats for each national delegation, equipped with cameras to allow television and online viewers to see the athletes up close,” according to the site. “Wending their way from east to west, the 10,500 athletes will thus cross through the center of Paris, the overall playing field for the Games, which will showcase their sporting prowess over the next 16 days.”

The precession will last six kilometers (about 3.7 miles) and conclude at the Trocadéro, where the ceremonial events will continue.

How long is the Olympic Opening Ceremony?

Per the I.O.C.’s guidelines, Rule 55, the opening ceremony follows strict protocol, including which words the host country’s head of state (in this case, French President Emmanuel Macron) uses during their official speech.

The I.O.C. highlights 11 main elements to be checked off during the opening ceremony, beginning with the entrance of the head of state and the I.O.C. President, who is currently Thomas Bach . Next, the opening ceremony plays the host country’s National Anthem (“La Marseillaise” for France) as the host country’s flag is hoisted.

The athletes will then participate in the aforementioned parade, followed by a symbolic release of doves .

“The image of one soldier for each country’s delegation releasing doves — a symbol of peace — was a striking visual representation of the role the Games hoped the play,” the Olympics said of when the tradition started in 1920.

Following the doves’ release, the I.O.C. awards its Olympic Laurel “to honor outstanding individuals for their achievements in education, culture, development, and peace throughout the sport.”

The Olympic Laurel was designed in 2016, its previous recipients being two-time track and field gold-medal winner Kipchoge “Kip” Keino and Nobel laureate Muhammad Yunus .

After awarding the Laurel, the opening ceremony will continue with its official speeches. The Olympic flag will then be raised to the Olympic Anthem (or the Olympic Hymn) before athletes, coaches, and judges participate in the Olympic Oath .

Months before the opening ceremony, “a flame is lit in Olympia, in Greece,” recalling “the link between the ancient Olympic Games and their modern counterpart,” per the Olympics official page . The Olympic Flame is then relayed, primarily by athletes on foot, and carried to the host city.

“Throughout the Torch Relay , the flame announces the Olympic Games and spreads a message of peace and friendship between peoples. The Torch relay ends at the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games. The final runner (or sometimes runners) enters the stadium and lights the cauldron with the Olympic flame. The Games can begin!”

After the torch ceremony,  a tradition carried since the 1936 Berlin Olympics, the opening ceremony concludes with the Olympic Artists Program , sponsored by the Olympic Foundation for Culture and Heritage.

For the 2021 Tokyo Games, the video of the entire Opening Ceremony is about four hours long. So, pace yourself with the popcorn!

Recent Changes to the Opening Ceremony

Crowds in Paris were expected to reach more than half a million people, prompting the allocation of tens of thousands of police officers and soldiers. However, on Wednesday, January 31, 2024, French Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin announced they were downsizing to accommodate about 300,000 guests, according to The Associated Press .

“I know that we have the best security forces in the world, and we’ll be able to show that France is capable of winning medals and, above all, of hosting the world without any problems,” said Darmanin.

Darmanin didn’t reveal what prompted the downsizing, though French President Emmanuel Macron previously said a change of venue might be necessary, citing extremist attacks of the past.
