Introduction

Off Beat Safaris is situated in the Greater Kruger area, 12 km from the town of Hoedspruit in the Limpopo province of South Africa.

 Off Beat bush lodge is an authentic Eco- friendly base. Escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life and experience this natural paradise. Relax and enjoy this lovely bush lodge- take it easy, play games, do nothing, spend quality time with friends or family, or sleep to your heart’s content. The camp is situated along the banks of a seasonal river that runs through the farm, surrounded by pristine vegetation. Although there are no resident ”Big 5″ on the property you may see or hear them on adjoining reserves. This Eco- friendly camp is run entirely on solar lighting, lanterns and gas with individual lights in the cabins. The rustic but comfortable lifestyle of the camp encourages immediate relaxation and tranquility with the natural environment. the accommodation is characteristically unique.

OFF BEAT is good for the soul.

Accommodation

There are 3 elevated timber and thatched twin cabins each with their own bathrooms. The kitchen/lounge/bar and braai area is shared. Each unit has it’s own outside bathroom with running water and conventional toilets – this offers the opportunity to shower under the stars, a truly mesmerising experience. Hot water is provided in the traditional method with a heated donkey boiler that supplies all the showers.

A fully equipped kitchen including refrigeration and gas stove compliments the ambiance of this secluded hideaway. There are braai areas for those who love cooking around an open fire. Share a drink or two whilst absorbing the fantastic night sounds.

Situated close to the decked bar area is a refreshing splash pool, ideal for those hot summer days! A shaded, secretive hide overlooks a popular water hole, providing great game viewing. The subtle lighting of lanterns, camp fire and endless views of the southern sky create the most awe-inspiring atmosphere. Although electricity is not available in the camp, there is the opportunity to charge cameras and phones during the day.

This deluxe twin bedded , elevated  room is the ideal choice for those who want a private unit.

Owl’s Nest is slightly elevated with an en suite toilet and shower.

It has an enclosed, intimate braai area, a kitchen which includes a fridge, gas cooker, crockery and cutlery and a garden set. A small splash pool with seating area overlooks the riverbed.Whilst listening to the African bush sounds you will enjoy an unique bush experience.

The termite mound - Family unit

This unit is enclosed and ideal for families or groups. One room has three beds and the adjoining room sleeps 4. This picturesque, private area includes a lounge, dining area and a fully equipped kitchen.

There are two showers/bathrooms and hot water is provided in the traditional method with a heated donkey boiler that supplies all the showers.

A private splash pool, large outdoor umbrella, garden, seats and braai area complements this unique spot.

The nature.

Morokologa game reserve, we spend our Christmas at the camp and we had a beautiful game drive and morning walks with my grandmother. Played games and reconnected as a family.

Most of Gold cabins- the weather - the sound of the birds-

Since we have family and old colleagues in Hoedspruit we enjoy everything. Love going to Hoedspruit for a weekend break away.

The quietness.

It’s a beautiful town which is easily accessible and has all the convenient shopping around the lodges nearby and one is able to do various activities around the area.

Description

Off Beat Bush Lodge is an authentic, eco-friendly getaway. The camp is situated along the banks of a seasonal river that runs through the farm, surrounded by pristine vegetation. Although there are no resident Big 5 animals on the property, it borders the Greater Kruger National Park and you may see or hear them on adjoining reserves. The lodge is run entirely on solar lighting, lanterns and gas with individual lights in the cabins. Each unit has its own open-style outside bathroom with running water and conventional toilets. Hot water is provided in the traditional bush method with a heated donkey boiler that supplies to all the showers. Situated close to the decked bar area is a refreshing splash pool, ideal for those hot summer days. A shaded, secretive hide overlooks a popular waterhole, providing great game viewing. A fully equipped kitchen including refrigeration and gas stove compliments the ambiance of this secluded hideaway. There are braai areas for those who love cooking around an open fire. Although electricity is not available in the camp, there is the opportunity to charge cameras and phones during the day by means of a small generator. Please note that the bar is not operational or stocked, it is, however available for use. Off Beat Safaris is approximately 12 km north of the town of Hoedspruit in the renowned Limpopo Province of South Africa. The game farm is situated amongst the private reserves that make up the Greater Kruger National Park with the majestic Northern Drakensberg Mountain Range forming the visual background.

Amazing facility. Amazing staff. A once in a life experience. Barrie was our guide and his enthusiasm and knowledge was second to none. Three wonderful meals each day with snacks on game runs. The reserve was not too large and all guide's worked together and were respectful of the animals and each other

The room - incredibly large and beautifully decorated, we loved the walk in cupboard for our bags, the views and the enormous bed. We enjoyed complimentary sherry on the terrace and the enormous showers. We had an extremely close encounter with a pack of lions who were hunting warthogs within metres of our terrace during the afternoon and were picked up in the safari truck which was, although a bit scary, an incredible experience - we can see why it is called Lion's valley.

Yakor is arranged by principles of an American motel. Rooms are clean; there is a shower, TV, towels, and heat if it is necessary. In some rooms, you will also find a refrigerator. Almost full size wooden fishes act as key charms. In warm season, you can buy cheap fruits, vegetables and flowers in a nearby shop.

If you want to have some cultural adventures, you can go to Tarusa or visit a place where Marina Tsvetaeva wanted to be buried. In addition, there opens a wonderful view over Oka River with its fogs and plains.

NIKOLA-LENIVETS

«Beaubourg», «Lighthouse» and other land-art objects in the park: romanticism in a spirit of «The True Detective»

There are: a kitchen-dining room with three meals a day, sledges, ice-boats, skis and snow-scooters, a Russian bath, hootch and other gifts of local farmers. Things to do: walk around art objects.

It is ok to go to Nicola-Lenivets in any tome of the year. In winter, art objects look differently, than in summer. Houses in Koltsovo are very warm; you will find valenoki in each of them- to change your footwear in case of a bad weather. Directly near the porch of the house, guests can take sledges and iceboats and go riding to «Lighthouse». It is possible to order skis. The bathhouse costs 1500 rubles (€15.06) per hour.

A health resort, turned from the XIX century estate into the President’s Office Health Resort with unexpectedly democratic prices

There are: a Russian bath and a modern Spa center with pearl bathtubs and other delicacies, medical services with a decent choice of experts and procedures, massage, a pool, a fitness club, a sports hall, a skating rink, a music hall where classic musicians perform from time to time. Things to do: go to the New Jerusalem Monastery, the Museum of Wooden Architecture or find a park grotto in Rozhdestveno that looks exactly like a hobbit dwelling.

The place has gone through some repairs recently and became very modern. It has fine communications, billiards, a big beautiful dining room, summer outdoor café and a beautiful view of local architecture. It is possible to order lunches previously in a day in the dining room. However, service is a little Soviet. To diversify food, you can go to one of four restaurants at the territory. Besides, it is possible to prepare a barbecue on coals. For entertainment, you can ride a bicycle through the paths or go to a swimming pool – an outdoor one during summer or indoor during cold season. The most important winter entertainments are tubing (there is a hill with an elevator), skis and skating. Pleasantly, that Snegiri’s territory is huge, so the place does not look crowded even in high season.

BEKASOVO SPA HOTEL

The new cottage territory at the old rest house — it is ideal for team buildings, but will also be good for a romantic weekend

Rooms here are usual, with an easy Soviet fleur. The main surprise is food – a buffet with a great variety of Russian dishes: Russian salad, coulibiac, ‘Herring under a Fur Coat’. There is a nice pool and a good choice of different cosmetic procedures. The territory is really big, beautiful and worth having long walks – there is a wood and a lake.

VERETYEVO ART ESTATE

Eight hectares with a river and a wood, installations, taiga lodges, Russian bath with a view. All that is situated at the place of a former pioneer camp for difficult teenagers

There are: breakfasts at a fireplace with Lenin’s portrait in the only survived building of a former camp; rabbits, squirrels and rams at the territory; a Russian bath with a glass verandah hanging over the Dubna River. It is possible to admire the river from the bridge, and it is possible to roll down into it from the verandah by a trench, which leads directly to the river (obviously not in winter). Things to do: go to the science city Dubna, look at the Lenin’s second-large monument in the world and a hydroelectric station reservoir.

Here you can enjoy races on snowmobiles, a sit-round gathering at a fireplace, pajama parties, dances — and music. There is wonderful nature with dogs barking and mosquitoes flying in the garden near the house. The purest air can be literally eaten with spoons. Veretyevo is made with taste rural cluster that has ideology and style.

HELIOPARK SUZDAL

Old Russian styled place with a bathing complex at the suburb of Suzdal

There are: 11 types of Russian baths — from country blackly to imperial on hay with opportunity to jump in the ice-hole; horse walks, billiards, fishing. Things to do: walk to the center of Suzdal, sightseeing on the way — the trip will take no more than 20 minutes.

Heliopark is a hotel with good restaurant and a number of different Russian baths. Some rooms are equipped with a Jacuzzi bathtub— directly in the bedroom. There is the Shchurovo Ancient Settlement complex nearby, where Lungin’s «Tsar» was shot. Here you can taste food, prepared according to Old Russian recipes.

We were the only guests, and were given a free upgrade to the chalet with private pool. The host and gardener were also very kind and helpful. We greatly enjoyed spotting smaller wildlife from the hide out during the sunset and sunrise, and the peace and quiet of the stay. During the night we were visited by a honey badger twice that tried to get into the cupboards and fridge, some excitement for sure!

very relaxing, the chalets are well positioned distant away from one another giving guests all sense of privacy

Beautiful huts and friendly hosts. Got an upgrade because of availability and a hyena that was in the park currently. So, wildlife is close by, which is great!

Prachtige plek! Grenzend aan het Krugerpark waar de wilde dieren ook bij kunnen komen. Dichterbij kun je niet komen! Als je van een beetje kamperen houdt is dit een aanrader! Er is geen internet, dit maakte de belevenis echt compleet.
