Taylor Swift's "Reputation" Stadium Tour: All the Details We Know

By Nicole Mastrogiannis

Taylor Swift

Fellow Swifties ... we've made it! We were floored when "Look What You Made Me Do" came out, (the old Taylor can't come to the phone right now), we enjoyed every song released until reputation was finally put out into the world, and we watched our queen Taylor Swift eat raw cookie dough over and over again to secure a place in line to buy tickets to her "Reputation" Stadium Tour ... and now ... it has finally arrived.

On May 8th in Glendale, Arizona, Taylor's "Reputation" tour officially begins! Tay Tay has been dropping major hints about what to expect and what us Swifties can look forward to seeing during (and after) the show. Here's what we know so far ... ready for it?

Camila Cabello & Charli XCX will be opening

Before your arrival in Taylor Land, be prepared to make a pitstop in Havana ooh na na with Camila , and watch Charli be the pop queen she is. Hold on to your wigs, people...

SAY HELLO TO OLD TAYLOR ... SHE'S BACK FROM THE DEAD

Taylor revealed via Instagram stories, that she will be performing 10 (TEN!) songs from her previous albums, in addition to songs from reputation .

There will be THREE stages ... because Tayor wants to see all of your Swiftie faces

Taylor shared via her Instagram stories, "On the tour, there will be three stages. The reason why I want there to be three, is because I want to be able to get as close to you as possible. And see you guys."

Go ahead and light me up. A post shared by Taylor Swift (@taylorswift) on Apr 10, 2018 at 7:24pm PDT

You could be picked to MEET Taylor at the show in her "Rep Room" backstage

"There's always a room that I have backstage. During the show we always pick people to come after the show to say hi, and go to this room. 'Red Tour' is called Club Red, Loft 89 was '1989 [Tour].' This tour it's called the Rep Room. So that will be the room where I ... we're going to be looking at all kinds of ways to get people and find people that I can meet after the show, which I'm so excited about."

Scroll to the right to see actual footage of said "Rep Room." 🐍

(27.04.18) - 11 dias para a #reputationstadiumtour e as novidades continuam! O nome do local onde fĂŁs que serĂŁo escolhidos terĂŁo a chance de encontrar a Taylor nos bastidores serĂĄ "Rep Room"! The stage is 110 feet tall AND THE FLOOR IS A SCREEN

"The stage is the biggest stage we've ever had. It's 110 feet tall and both of the B stages that are out in the audience are pretty much just as big as the main stage was on the '1989 Tour.' Something about this stage that we've never had before is, it's got a video screen wall that's pretty seamless, and that continues down onto the floor. So everything we're walking on, onstage, is a screen. It looks so cool from the upper sections of the stadiums. When we're walking on it though, it's kind of like you're walking on an optical illusion."

Taylor is bringing a piano which will be used for two songs -- one from reputation and one older song

One song will be used for a reputation song -- *cough cough* "New Year's Day *cough cough* and one older song from a previous album 😳

Taylor will be transported via a ROCKET. SLED.

THIS IS STATE OF THE ART TECHNOLOGY. Taylor explained she will be getting around via a Rocket Sled underneath the stage. She said via Instagram stories, "It goes underneath the stage, and takes me from one place really quickly to another place. The stage is so big that we, I guess, need that?"

There will be EIGHT costume changes

Taylor is changing EIGHT times throughout the course of the night and shared some closeups of her very sparkly outfits -- including a sequin snakeskin costume!

At the very end of the show, don't leave, because Taylor will be playing a bloopers reel of "times in rehearsals where things did not go according to plan."

See a sampling of said hilarious bloopers below.

She has SEVEN microphones, including one with "a snake attacking it."

Here are all of Tay's mics: a rose gold, newspaper print with her name on it, a color variation of that same newspaper print, a regular gold "because why not," "a gold mic that has a gold snake attacking it," a sparkly green which can always be described as "St. Patrick's Day at a disco," and her black sparkly mic from the "1989" tour.

Taylor Swift performs during the Reputation Stadium Tour opener at University of Phoenix Stadium, in Glendale, ArizTaylor Swift in Concert - , AZ, Glendale, USA - 08 May 2018

“So you’re wondering why there are so many snakes onstage, right?” Taylor Swift asked the crowd on the opening night of her “Reptiles” — sorry, “Reputation” tour. It’d crossed the collective mind of the capacity crowd of 59,000 inside University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Ariz. on May 8. The golden snake microphone might have required a bit of squinting to make out, but it was a fairly in-your-face move to position three enormous inflatable snakes around the stadium, hovering over the two rear stages as well as the main one. It’s not like anybody needs  a good reason to float over a football field’s worth of fans in a snake-shaped cage, but Swift intended to explain how pop’s most celebrated cat lady had come to claim cobras as her new spirit animal.

“Someone called me a snake on social media, and it caught on,” Swift said, not even coming close to naming a name but clearly referencing the moment when Kim Kardashian, injecting herself into the feud over Kanye West’s “Naked” video, subtweeted Swift with some snake emoji, uncoiling a whole Twitter campaign meant to embarrass the singer. “I went through some really low times because of it,” she continued. “I went through some times when I didn’t know if I was gonna get to do this anymore.” Of course, if the bad-rep-embracing “Blank Space” taught us anything, it’s that Swift is wise to the modern way of taking ownership of the epithets used against you. Why call in St. Patrick for an exorcism when you can just go scaly on a massive scale?

Swift didn’t bring up any molting metaphors, but those are implicit in all the snakiness, too. The recitation about how the old Taylor is deceased and can’t take our call was present, as expected, in “Look What You Made Me Do” — delivered in concert not by Swift but Tiffany Haddish, in a crowd-pleasing video cameo. The two-hour show had plenty of fierceness to go with that, especially in the early going. But it still had plenty of moments where you would have sworn it was pre-decedent Taylor on the line… the guileless Swift we remember from two or three skins ago. There will be bad blood, and a few kraken to unleash, but at the beating heart of it all, we’re still left not so much with dragons or defensiveness but in the endearingly earnest presence of pop’s most approachable superstar.

Last fall’s “Reputation” was an album of many love-and-war juxtapositions. The backlash from the whole Kimye-gate brouhaha had a creative silver lining, in that it gave Swift some newfound rejection to write about — the public kind — right at about the point she was apparently falling in love and no longer finding fodder in romantic schisms. As a result of these seemingly contradictory experiences, “Reputation” ended up feeling like the most self-protective  and  most tenderly openhearted album she’s ever done.

This tour has those same contradictions to deal with, seeing as the set list is dominated by 14 of the 15 songs from “Reputation” (omitting only “So It Goes”), with 10 oldies — most of them also from the Max Martin/Shellback school of programming — squeezed into thematically appropriate intervals. The demands of modern choreography and ever more massive production design dictate that some of the emotional underpinnings are going to remain just that. But she uses her two hours on stage to paint a rewardingly holistic picture, even if there’s a lot of distance to travel between naive Taylor (“Love Story”), sexy Taylor (“Dress”) and karma-is-mine-sayeth-the-Taylor Taylor (“Look What You Made Me Do”).

The vast scaffolding on stage, sometimes visible behind the translucent 172-by-40-foot video screen enveloping it and sometimes not, suggested some kind of enormous underground city. Taking up residence two or three stories up was her usually unseen band, who would very occasionally send a lead guitarist down as emissary. Her dancers get to display a lot more personality, though it was a ways into the set before they warmed up from their initially militaristic, deep-maroon look and manner into warm, playful foils. They, too, receded when Swift took an airborne trip in that snaky cage to her rear stages for some more intimate material.

One of the dancers did follow her to the back of the stadium when it was time for her to do “Dress,” the latest album’s PG-13 sensual reverie. The white-robed figure ran complementary circles around her, with artificially extended arms weaving folds of white fabric through the air. For much of the show, Swift had worn a succession of feisty one-pieces, like a Wonder Woman who favored darker colors. But for the more erotic “Dress,” she added a sheer black gown to the ensemble, somehow getting sexier by adding a layer. As the interpretive dancer teased her, it was almost as if Gal Gadot had been given an abstract love scene in the middle of all that WWII super heroism.

But it’s the Alone Time With Tay on the other rear stage that most fans will treasure most. There was a two-song solo segment with just Swift and her guitar, half of which consisted of her proving that the recent album’s “Dancing With Our Hands Tied” worked as well acoustically without the Max Martin-izing. The other half will apparently be a wild-card slot. On opening night, she acceded to online demand by resurrecting the rarely played breakup ballad “All Too Well,” the song that’s like a secret handshake among True Swifties. (In two subsequent shows, she’s replaced that with “Wildest Dreams” and “The Best Day.”) During these two songs, she put ona Nudie’s-style jacket that perhaps was meant to subliminally refer back to her country days… although Porter Wagoner probably never had a coat with rhinestones formed into a coiled snake.

She also spent a few minutes alone at a piano, turning the fan anthem “Long Live” and the romantic ballad “New Year’s Day” into a contented medley of acceptance. Mash-ups also occurred during segments that were fully produced and full of more nervous energy; everyone’s celebrity-feud favorite, “Bad Blood,” morphed into her a song of teen betrayal from her debut album, “Should’ve Said No,” maybe to reinforce that life never stops being high school.

Swift occasionally played older sister to her audience. “I guess with the snakes,” she told the crowd, taking a pause at that piano, “I wanted to send a message to you guys that if someone uses name-calling to bully you, and even if a lot of people jump on board with it, that doesn’t have to defeat you. It can strengthen you instead.”

It was a nicely maternal moment. But it was also nice to see Swift prove that she’s not so much older and wiser that she won’t troll back. Midway through the set, Swift let her inner brat out to play with a “Shake It Off” that turned into a slumber party, with opening acts Camila Cabello and Charli XCX returned to the stage. That spirit returned at the very end, when the older hit “We Are Never Getting Back Together” segued into a taunting deep track of more recent vintage, “This Is Why We Can’t Have Nice Things,” which just happens to be a blatant eff-you to her foremost celebrity tormentor. No longer bound by either choreography or maturity, Swift and the dancers cavorted in a fountain, offering up a figurative middle finger, and the impishness of the celebration felt liberating — a capper that felt almost punk-rock in foregoing any usual show-closing stateliness. The snake inflatables had already been put to sleep for the night, but you could imagine them purring.

The “Reputation” tour reaches the third of its scheduled 36 cities with stops at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena Friday and Saturday night.

Taylor Swift's 'Reputation' Stadium Tour Kicks Off With Snakes, Snakes And Even More Snakes

Rachel McGrath

After months of preparation, Taylor Swift kicked off her ‘Reputation’ stadium tour on Wednesday (8 May) night, performing to a sell-out crowd in Glendale, Arizona.

More than 59,000 fans were in attendance at the University of Phoenix Stadium for the concert and plenty more - including us! - were eagerly awaiting updates on everything from the setlist to the costumes and stage layout.

So, let’s talk about the most spectacular aspect of the show: the snakes.

Taylor had already revealed that one of her microphones would feature a gold snake design , but what we weren’t expecting were gigantic cobras around the venue and on stage:

As if that wasn’t enough, Taylor also flew around the stadium on a giant snake:

During her ‘Reputation’ campaign, Taylor has referenced being called a snake on numerous occasions, flipping the insult on its head and reclaiming it.

Addressing the crowd at Wednesday’s gig, she explained: “A couple of years ago, someone called me a snake on social media and it caught on. And then a lot of people were calling me a lot of things on social media and
And I went through some really low times for a while because of it.

“Sometimes I didn’t know if I was going to get to do this amore. [With] The snakes, I wanted to send a message to you guys that if someone uses name calling to bully you on social media and even if people jump on board with it, it doesn’t have to defeat you. It can strengthen you instead.”

The Reputation tour is Taylor’s most ambitious production yet, and the stadium layout has three separate stages, including a 110 foot tall mainstage with a video wall that curves around the floor.

The 24-song setlist - which you can see below - showcases her current album, with a series of fan favourites from the ’1989â€Č and ‘Red’ days thrown on. Even a few older tracks, including ‘Love Story’ and ‘You Belong With Me’ have made the cut.

The ‘End Game’ singer will perform 53 dates worldwide, with her UK and Ireland dates starting in early June. Camila Cabello and Charli XCX will joining her, as support acts, for the entire tour.

Review: Taylor Swift’s juggernaut Reputation tour conquers CenturyLink Field

Pop superstar Taylor Swift brought her colossal Reputation Stadium Tour to Seattle's CenturyLink Field, thrilling tens of thousands of cheering fans.

Concert review

As tens of thousands of fans who filled CenturyLink Field eagerly waited for Taylor Swift to take the stage, a video splashed on two massive screens showed die-hard fans’ reactions to seeing her “Look What You Made Me Do” video for the first time. One particularly enamored Swiftie was barely audible.

Eyes wide, mouth agape, the creeping suspicion he’s witnessing something colossal becomes increasingly visible on his face. Pausing to take it all in and ascribe some sort of meaning to the experience, all he can muster is, “(Expletive!).”

As Swift and her battalion of dancers, musicians and stagehands charged through her two-hour set Tuesday night, it was hard not to similarly feel like a doe-y fan in headlights as Swift’s stunning new tour rife with holy (expletive) moments was barreling down on you.

Screams filled the stadium like an army of high-pitched 12s as Swift’s silhouette emerged in a puff of smoke to blast through a biting version of “
Ready for It?,” the opening track off last fall’s “Reputation” album. Swift drew heavily from her new material, which proclaims the death of “old Taylor” on her chart-topping hit “Look What You Made Me Do.” For better or worse, tabloid drama has become an inextricable part of the superstar’s career, both fueling her music as well as distracting from it. The “Reputation” album and stadium tour seem to set a torch to it all, letting the world know she’s done merely shaking it off.

A cobra is the Reputation Stadium Tour’s unofficial mascot (and perhaps Tay Tay’s new spirit animal), widely believed to be inspired by a Kim Kardashian dis tweet . A tangle of snakes mesmerizingly slither and lash on two giant video screens, which later morphed into an auxiliary stage for Swift’s band, as six shirtless dudes bang colossal drumheads, thunderously taking out “King of My Heart” with Swift splitting for one of many wardrobe changes.

The production on her new juggernaut of a tour is astounding, and four cities in, the execution was nearly flawless. After performing a few songs from two small stages amid the crowd — including a confetti-blasting “Shake It Off” with a cameo from opener Charli XCX — a cobra chariot carried Swift overhead and back to the main stage for a stomping “Bad Blood.” Black-clad dancers hung from the stage’s rigs and climbed around an industrial platform, revealed as giant screens opened, feeling like “The Matrix”—the musical.

Both Swift and London synth-pop singer Charli XCX paused at times to acknowledge their absent tourmate Camila Cabello, who canceled her Seattle appearance , citing dehydration, on what Charli XCX called a “girl-powered” tour.

While ticket sales nationwide were reportedly slower than usual, which some industry insiders attributed to a new “ dynamic ” pricing model, CenturyLink Field was mostly filled with moms, 20-something dudes and young girls testing the limits of the buddy system. (Swift later pegged Tuesday’s crowd at 56,000.)

Swift’s is a commanding stage presence, whether she’s unaccompanied and strutting across the stage in knee-high leather boots, or decked out as a sci-fi Egyptian queen flanked by her minions in movement. The only knock — and not an insignificant one — was that Swift’s vocals were often absent or ineffective. Amid the highly choreographed megaproduction, too frequently Swift’s voice was simply indistinguishable from her supporting vocalists.

She fared better during the campfire intimacy of two acoustic numbers — “Dancing With Our Hands Tied” and “Holy Ground” — though her voice wavered a bit on the former. A solo piano version of “Long Live” was another standout, her vocals not competing with the production’s pomp and circumstance.

Nevertheless, the vocal hang-ups weren’t insurmountable and the spectacle alone was worth the price of admission. Swift gave a master class in how to cap a stadium gig with what was refreshingly more of a knockout finale than applause-hungry encore (though cheer they did).

During her Gatsby-in-wonderland closing run, Swift and her pastel cohorts danced and splashed in a water fountain in front of a lit up mansion with carefree reverie. As “This is Why We Can’t Have Nice Things” ended in a fusillade of fireworks spouting through the stadium’s open roof and the cast of this triumphant Broadway-goes-to-the-Super-Bowl segment took their final bow, a parting message lingered on the screens.

“In the death of her reputation, she felt truly alive,” it proclaimed.

If “old Taylor” — or at least her “reputation” — is dead, long live the new Swift.

Taylor Swift Shared Secrets About Her 'Reputation' Tour & The Details Are Unreal

Taylor Swift's Reputation Stadium Tour officially kicks off tonight, May 8, in Arizona. For the 13 days leading up to the start of the tour, Swift has been posting behind-the-scenes looks and clues about the tour so fans can properly prepare their excitement for the experience. And these secrets from Taylor Swift's Reputation Tour will have Swifties everywhere freaking out and impatiently waiting for the tour to come to their hometown.

Swift has an obsession with the number 13 (she was born on Dec. 13, 1989, and used to draw the number on her hand for good luck during performances), so for the 13 days leading up to the Reputation Tour, she's been dropping huge hints about what fans can expect to see during the show. She started things off on April 25 by posting a photo of her at a dance rehearsal for the show saying, "13 days til Reputation Stadium Tour 💋." Before her 13-day countdown even started, she posted a photo of her and her tour dancers posing on a huge set of stairs that appears to be in their rehearsal space. She captioned the post, "Say hi to the reputation Stadium Tour dancers!! Been spending my days rehearsing with these overwhelmingly talented people. 28 DAYS TIL GLENDALE AZ." Now let's break down all of the clues in the Reputation Tour advent calendar.

The opening number is the favorite.

According to BuzzFeed, one of Swift's tour dancers revealed that the opening number for the show is their collective favorite to perform. "You're not going to be prepared for how you're going to feel," they said. "It's a must see."

Swift also revealed on her Instagram story on day 13 of the countdown that she'll be performing 10 songs from her old albums, although she didn't drop any hints about what those songs will be right then. "There will be 10 songs from previous albums," she said. "I'm really excited about playing stuff from Reputation , and really excited about playing songs from previous albums too." If you're a diehard "All Too Well," "Blank Space," or "Love Story" fan, you might be in luck.

There are three stages.

In one of her stories, Swift said there will be three stages in the show. One main stage which is apparently the biggest she's ever had, and two other stages that are set in the crowds and are about as big as her 1989 tour main stage.

Swift said on her Instagram story, "It's the biggest stage we've ever had. It's 110 feet tall and most of the B-stages that are out in the audience are pretty much just as big as the main stage was on the 1989 tour."

The main stage is 110 feet tall.

The days/last weeks leading up to any show are always spent running through the entire production day after day (assuming you've finished all the rehearsing you need to get done before you can run the show in its entirety), so Swift's rehearsals now just seem to be them drilling the entire show every day.

"Blank Space" may be a number.

Swift captioned an Instagram post , "Darling I'm a nightmare dressed like a.... girl rehearsing for her tour that starts in 9 DAYS." This could be a hint that she plans on singing "Blank Space" on the tour as one of the 10 songs from previous albums she'll be performing.

Swift has a "rocket sled."

reputation stadium tour layout

Swift has been posting a lot of photos from both on top of and under the stage she's rehearsing on. She talked about what goes on under the tour's three massive stages on her Instagram story, revealing that she has a "rocket sled" that glides her from one stage to another.

She said on her Instagram story, "The rocket sled goes underneath the stage and takes me from one place really quickly to another. The stage is so big that we need that." But the video of her riding the rocket sled shows that it... does not move very fast. She could probably run from stage to stage faster than this sled moves, but hey, I'll give her tour points for the creative problem solving...?

The main stage is a big screen.

Swift also revealed on her Instagram story that the main stage is basically one giant screen that she and the dancers had to get used to performing on. She said,

It's got a video screen wall that's pretty seamless and continues down onto the floor. So everything that we walk on on the stage is a screen. It looks so cool from the upper sections of the stadium, but it's a little bit like walking on an optical illusion. We'll get used to it, I promise.

"New Year's Day" will be performed during the tour.

Swift posted a photo of her sitting at the tour's piano on May 4 with the caption, "I want your midnights... 4 days til Reputation Stadium Tour 💕." "I want your midnights" is a line from the song "New Year's Day," so fans can assume they'll be hearing that song performed during the concert.

She also gave the piano its own shout out on her Instagram story, saying "She's so PRETTY."

reputation stadium tour layout

The caption on the second photo of the piano on her story said, "I'm playing this piano on 2 songs in the set - 1 new and 1 old." Based on the "I want your midnights" hint, I think it's more than likely that the one new song she'll be playing on this piano is "New Year's Day." She has a huge repertoire of songs to choose from that could easily be played on the piano, so TBD on what the "1 old" song will be.

Taylor's meet-and-greet area is called The Rep Room.

One of the most elaborate parts of the tour isn't even part of the show. Swift revealed the Rep Room on her Instagram story, which will serve as a meet and greet room after the show for a handful of lucky fans who will be selected to go back stage during the concert.

The Rep Room is decked out in Taylor Swift memorabilia from floor to ceiling and features a giant snake sculpture in the center.

reputation stadium tour layout

The Rep Room also has a throne in it because of course. Swift said of the room,

There's always a room that we have backstage because during the show we pick people to come backstage afterwards to say hi. On the Red tour it was called Club Red, and for the 1989 tour we had Loft '89. This time it's the Rep Room. We'll be looking in all kinds of different ways to find people so I can meet them which I'm really excited about.

Try and get yourself noticed at the shows, Swifties! It just might mean you get to meet Swift once the show is over.

The rest of Swift's Instagram stories leading up to the tour have showed some sneak peaks into her costumes (most of theme involving sparkles, naturally), her various microphones she'll be using throughout the tour (there are seven and they're all shiny and elaborate), and she also has newspaper-themed confetti that says her name all over them that will apparently fly all over the audience.

Swift isn't messing around with these mics.

And last but not least, according to BuzzFeed, there will be a Reputation Tour rehearsals blooper reel playing on the screens in the stadiums as fans trickle out at the end of the show. Because if there's one thing Swift wants to make clear with this album, it's that she's down to make fun of herself.

One day before the tour starts: Swift posts a photo of her in Arizona where the first show on the tour is taking place.

View on Instagram

She posed next to a giant cactus and said, "Fact: I’ve never been more excited about a tour than I am about this one. And it starts TOMORROW. Also, not even remotely tour related, but today I met a cactus. đŸŒ”"

Get ready, Swifties. The Reputation Stadium Tour begins tonight!

Taylor Swift’s Record-Setting Reputation Tour Earns $54 Million in First Five Cities

Taylor Swift 2018

Taylor Swift ’s Reputation stadium tour makes its first appearance on Billboard ’s weekly Hot Tours recap (see below) based on ticket sales from the first five venues on the trek. With almost 398,000 tickets sold in these stadiums, the six-month world tour that could potentially top $400 million in sales is already at the $54 million mark.

The pop star launched her tour with an opening four-week run stateside, kicking off in Phoenix on May 8. The debut performance at University of Phoenix Stadium set new venue records in both gross and attendance, topping Metallica ’s $5.2 million gross earned in August 2017 by almost $2 million. With 59,157 tickets sold, she also broke the attendance record set during One Direction ’s Where We Are tour in 2014 by 2,633 seats.

During the opening weekend on the road, Swift played her first two-night engagement on the tour at Levi’s Stadium in the San Francisco area (May 11-12). With a $14 million take from 107,550 sold tickets she topped her own gross and attendance counts set during the 1989 world tour in 2015 — her first headlining effort at the venue. Grateful Dead still has a tight grip on the box office records at that stadium, however, with $21.5 million earned from 151,650 sold seats during its Fare The Well engagement that same year.

All the Stars Who Have Stopped by Taylor Swift's Reputation Tour (So Far)

The following weekend, the Reputation tour headed to Southern California for a two-night stint at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena on May 18-19, smashing even more box-office records. With more than 118,000 fans in attendance, the two-show run earned $16.2 million. It is now the highest-grossing concert engagement of 2018 by a single concert headliner, based on Boxscores reported to Billboard . It also set a new gross record for a single headliner at the venue, surpassing U2’s 2017 record by over $467,000. The Irish band was tops for one year after racking up $15.7 million from two performances on the Joshua Tree world tour in May of last year.

New gross records were also set at the next two stadiums on the schedule: Seattle’s CenturyLink Field on May 22 and Sports Authority Field in Denver three nights later. At both stadiums, Swift surpassed gross records also held previously by U2. Her $8.6 million take at the Seattle venue topped the band’s Joshua Tree sales from last May by $2.4 million, but U2 ’s box-office milestone at the Denver stadium was $6.6 million set in 2011 during its 360° trek. Swift beat that gross record by $1.2 million.

Big 'Reputation!' See All the Photos from Taylor Swift's Tour Kickoff

The "Look What You Made Me Do" singer kicked off her massive Reputation Stadium Tour on Tuesday

THE REDEMPTION KICKOFF

Taylor Swift returned to the stage Tuesday night at the University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Arizona to kick off her massive Reputation Stadium Tour .

SINGING IN SEQUIN

The singer, 28, wore a black sequin bodysuit with a removable hood and sleeves.

BOOTS MADE FOR WALKING

She paired the outfit with knee-high black boots and sheer, textured stockings.

GOLDEN LOCKS

As for her bangs and hair, Swift kept it down and wavy — reminiscent of the 'do she wore during the "Look What You Made Me Do" video.

THE SET LIST

Swift sang 24 songs total in the show, with a set list that included nearly all the songs off her latest album reputation .

Fan favorites like “All Too Well” (off her Red album) and “Shake It Off” and “Style” (off her 1989 album) were also performed as well.

CHANGING IT UP

As teased by the Grammy winner over the last couple weeks, Swift had plenty of costume changes and surprises in store for her loyal Swifties.

CALL FOR BACKUP

"At least 15 dancers have joined Swift on the tour."

THE REDEMPTION SQUAD

Singers Camila Cabello and Charli XCX opened for Swift, and also joined her on stage.

The trio looked close as can be as they embraced on stage.

BACKSTAGE BFFS

That love carried backstage too! Before the show, Cabello, Swift, and Charli XCX posed together in the empty University of Phoenix Stadium.

A SPECIAL SOMEONE

Swift’s boyfriend Joe Alwyn was spotted by fans in the crowd, and Swift pointed at him while singing her hit “Gorgeous.”

A HUGE AUDIENCE

A record-breaking 59,157 fans came to see the show, many excitedly sharing photos and snippets of the superstar on stage.

SNAKES ON HER SET

Snakes flanked her set, which Swith said before singing “Long Live” came from a “low” point in her life “a couple of years ago” — alluding to her feud with Kim Kardashian West , who leaked a phone call between the singer and her husband Kanye West in 2016.

“A couple of years ago, someone called me a snake on social media and it caught on. And then a lot of people called me a lot of names on social media,” Swift told her audience. “And I went through some really low times for a while because of it. I went through some times when I didn’t know if I was gonna get to do this anymore and I guess the snakes
I wanted to send a message to you guys that if someone uses name calling to bully you on social media and even if a lot of people jump on board with it, that doesn’t have to beat you. It can strengthen you instead.”

MULTIPLE STAGES

"On the tour, there will be three stages," Swift previously said. "The reason why I want there to be three is because I want to be able to get as close to you as possible."

The stage is also the “biggest” stage Swift has ever had on tour. “It’s got a video screen wall that’s pretty seamless,” she said about the 110 ft. stage . “It’s kind of like you’re walking on an optical illusion.”

SWIFT'S EXCITEMENT

A source close to Swift told PEOPLE exclusively that "Taylor couldn’t be more excited about the tour."

"She has been rehearsing nonstop and perfecting everything," the source added. "She can’t stop talking about it. It’s so fun to see her this happy and excited."

SURROUNDING HERSELF WITH THE BEST

"The team that she hired for the tour is equally excited," the source continued. "It’s the best to work for Taylor. She is demanding and wants everyone to give 100 percent, but she is also very appreciative and takes amazing care of her team. The tour will be a really fun experience for everyone."

JUST THE BEGINNING

Swift’s Reputation Stadium Tour will see her play dates across North America, Europe and Oceania through November.

Ranking the Five Biggest Sports Stadiums in Russia

No comments · Posted by Alex Smirnov in Sports

Russia has always been an incredibly passionate country that cares about how its athletes perform at major events. Between the Olympics, football, and other sports, Russians are always competing at the top end with sportsmen and sportswomen from Europe, the United States, and other parts of the world.

In recent years, Russia has made an effort to improve the aesthetics and capacity of its stadiums. While their venues do not match up to the huge NFL stadiums in the United States, there are many large venues in Russia as well. Below is a ranking of the five biggest sports stadiums in the country.

The biggest sports stadiums in Russia

1. Luzhniki Stadium

The Luzhniki Stadium is the largest sporting venue in all of Russia. With a capacity of 81,000, the Grand Sports Arena of the Luzhniki Olympic Complex is also one of the nation’s oldest arenas.

Located in Moscow within the Luzhniki Olympics Complex, the stadium has hosted many famous sporting events in its history. This stadium was the venue for the UEFA Cup final in 1999, the UEFA Champions League Final in 2008, and other international sporting events.

During the 2018 World Cup, which took place in Russia, the Luzhniki was the host for seven matches, including the final. Several local teams use the stadium as their home venue, including main clubs from Moscow.

All of CSKA Moscow and Torpedo Moscow use the stadium for their home matches, including in the Russian league and in European competitions. On occasion, the stadium hosts non-sporting events like concerts.

2. Krestovsky Stadium (Gazprom Arena)

The Krestovsky Stadium is one of the newer sporting venues in Russia, as it was built in preparation for the 2018 World Cup that was held in the country. Featuring both a retractable roof and a retractable pitch, this St. Petersburg-based stadium is a true marvel of modern architecture.

A total capacity of almost 68,000, which can rise to 80,000 for concerts, makes the stadium the second-biggest sporting venue in Russia. That is why many matches take place at the Krestovsky Stadium, despite it being a relatively new venue.

The first game at this stadium was held in 2017 when FC Zenit St. Petersburg took on FC Ural. Veteran football star Branislav Ivanovic has the honor of scoring the first goal at the Krestovsky Stadium.

Significant matches in competitions such as the FIFA Confederations Cup, FIFA World Cup, and UEFA Euros took place at this venue. The Krestovsky Stadium is also slated to host the 2022 UEFA Champions League final.

3. Volgograd Arena

Another football stadium, the Volgograd Arena is the third-largest sporting venue in the country. Located in the city of Volgograd, this ground was built on the site of the old Central Stadium.

A capacity of 45,500 means this ground can host some of the biggest capacity events in Russia. The Volgograd Arena was built in 2018 and hosted several matches in the 2018 World Cup.

Even though the stadium is an impressive architectural structure and the most modern sports facility in Volgograd, the Volgograd Arena does not get as much use as many Russians were expecting.

This stadium hosts games for the local Rotor Volgograd team, which does not have a significant reputation outside of Russia. Aside from Rotor Volgograd games, the stadium also hosts festivals, cultural events, and concerts.

4. Otkrytie Bank Arena

The Otkritie Bank Arena, also called the Spartak Stadium, is a ground with a capacity of about 45,500 situated in the North-Western part of Moscow. One of the most well known football teams in Russia, Spartak Moscow, plays its home matches here.

Built due to the 2018 FIFA World Cup, the Otkritie Bank Arena is a relatively new stadium. The first event at the ground took place in 2014, which was more than four years after the 200 million euro construction project to build the stadium began.

This stadium hosted matches during the FIFA Confederations Cup in 2017, along with the FIFA World Cup in 2018. The round of 16 games between England and Colombia at the World Cup is the highest profile game hosted at this stadium.

Given the stadium is in a less densely populated part of Moscow, there is ample space outside the ground for fans to gather before and after matches. Spartak Moscow plays all its Russian league and European games at this ground, while other sporting, cultural, and musical events also take place here.

5. Ak Bars Arena (Kazan Arena)

Featuring the largest outside screen in the world, a capacity of over 45,000, and a sleek design, the Ak Bars Arena in Kazan is one of the most impressive new constructions in Russia.

Opened in 2013 to the tune of $450 million, the stadium hosted the opening and closing ceremonies of the Summer Universiade in 2013. The Kazan Arena was also selected for the 2017 Confederations Cup.

Not only is this stadium a top-class venue for sporting events, but it also hosts concerts, festive events, corporate events, and more. Visitors can enjoy highly-rated restaurants near the stadium, while tours of the Kazan Arena are available most weeks.

Football team Rubin Kazan, which has won two Russian championships in its history, plays its home matches at the Ak Bars Arena.

Watch a Russian Sports Game in Person

If you are a fan of soccer, you may watch games from the Russian league on television every now and then. While experiencing the matches in this way is a lot of fun, you cannot beat the experience of being there in person.

With so many incredible and high capacity stadiums, along with the improving quality of the Russian league, attending a game has never been easier. If you have the means, spending a few days in Russia is a wonderful way to spend your vacation.

Between the history of Moscow, the stunning architecture of St. Petersburg, and the passion of Russian sports fans inside the Luzhniki or Krestovsky stadiums, you are likely to have an experience you will never forget.
