Royal Wing Yokohama Bay Cruise
Amazing lunch/dinner tour
The best way to feel this Bay City’s charm is by joining a cruising tour. Although there are several cruise ship services in Yokohama, I would love to introduce the cruise that has the most fantastic ship—the Royal Wing! This ship serves a variety of Chinese dishes, an amazing bay cruise with nice views of Yokohama: Minato Mirai skyline, Yokohama Bay Bridge, factories, and green up on the hills overlooking the bay. In addition, even if you are unlucky with the weather, you can still enjoy some attractions on the ship: magic, balloon art, and live music.
Course and Schedule
The cruise takes place four times a day on a regular basis; Lunch (12:00AM-1: 45PM), Tea (2:45-4:15PM), and two Dinner cruises (5:10-7:00PM, 7:40-9:30PM). The ship leaves Osanbashi Pier and circles Yokohama Bay. At first, the ship heads out towards the Yokohama Bay Bridge. It is a stylish, long, cable-stayed bridge that is one of the main icons of Yokohama. I love this beautiful and really photogenic bridge. You might have seen it destroyed in a Godzilla movie!
The ship passes under the bridge, goes out into Tokyo Bay and then loops back. Because Tokyo Bay is outside Yokohama Bay, we can also see the calm, hilly part of Yokohama as well as some factories.
After turning back, you cruise north toward the cool Minato Mirai 21 skyscraper area. There, you’ll see modern and sophisticated architecture in the daytime, and brilliant illumination at night.
The meals Royal Wing serves are “modern” Chinese cuisine. You can choose a buffet or several levels of courses (4600 yen–26,500 yen). The buffet (for instance) consists of 5-6 sorts of appetizers, 6 kinds of steamed or fried vegetables, 1 type of soup, 3 kinds of roasted dishes, steamed buns and dumplings, noodles and fried rice, 3-4 kinds of desserts, and an assortment of various fruits. The beverages are British tea, oolong tea and coffee. If you would like to have some alcohol or other soft drinks, you need to order them separately. The meal is served just after you board the ship. If you order a course, the food will be served step by step, and it will take a long time to finish all of them. You might not have enough time to go outside. So, I recommend that you choose the buffet, enjoy the meal and music first, and then move out to the deck for the excellent bay scene and nice sea breeze.
The last 30 minutes are the highlight of the tour if you are interested in the view. If the weather is nice, the panorama from the deck will be fabulous. There are tables and chairs where you can sit and enjoy the view comfortably. When the ship goes under the bridge, you can see this stunning architecture up close. It is compelling. Other cruise ships might pass you sometimes. The contrast of the sky and the sea is changing every 10 seconds. Fascinated by the beautiful scenery, you will forget the time. During the night cruise, the Ferris wheel in the Minato Mirai district is beautifully illuminated.
How to make a reservation
You can reserve your cruise online, but all the information is written in Japanese. Or ask the concierge in your hotel to help. Finally, you can reserve a spot on the cruise by phone at 045-662-6125.
Additional English information is available here .
Entertainment
Royal Wing has a few shows.
1) Balloon Art
An entertainer comes to each table and does some quick balloon art in front of your eyes. When I was there, it was a cute young girl. She talked to us as she filled a pink balloon with air. At first we didn’t know what she was doing. She twisted and pulled some parts of the balloon quickly. I thought the balloon would break if she treated it like that, but it didn’t. Instead, she smiled and handed me a cute little dog. She did the same things again in blue, and created two balloon dogs kissing! It took only 30 seconds or so!
We also enjoyed card magic at our table.
You can enjoy sophisticated live music. When we were on the ship, a flute and piano duet were featured.

Key Information
Description.
Hop aboard the Royal Wing cruise for stunning views of Yokohama Bay. Sail past the magnificent Yokohama Bay Bridge into a stretch of Tokyo Bay before drifting towards the glittering central business district of the Minato Mirai 21 skyscraper area. Yokohama was the first international trading port to be opened in Japan. It went from being a small fishing village to the second largest city in Japan, and boasts the largest Chinatown in Japan — a result of the city’s rich trading links with the mainland. Nowadays, the city is also known for its impressive skyline, with numerous impressive high-rise buildings and the Cosmo Clock 21 Ferris Wheel. Choose a lunch cruise to admire Yokohama’s dramatic architecture during the day. Or watch the glittering skyline light up Tokyo Bay on an evening dinner cruise. Whichever you pick, you’ll be treated to live music and magic and a gourmet all-you-can-eat buffet featuring modern Chinese cuisine. Fall in love with Yokohama on this romantic Royal Wing Cruise!

Royal Wing (Restaurant Ship)
Ratings and reviews, location and contact.
We had a dinner cruise with Royal wing and the experience was great. Boarding had no problems, every was on schedule and the crew were polite. The view of Minatomirai at night is great. There were also some entertainment which included a piano and saxophone... pair and some magic and balloon performances; although the 2-hr cruise might be too short for some. More
Compact-sized ship for cruising and dining around Yokohama Bay. Warm welcome from the crew, select your meal from a range of Cantonese dishes, order a drink and sit back and enjoy the cruise. Some musicians play a short set, (piano and flute) during the meal.... You can wander around the ship, and enjoy unusual views of the Yokohama Bay Bridge. A photographer also comes around to take your picture, and presents it in a memorial pack. Great for a birthday celebration or party. More

A Quick Cruise: The Royal Wing
Posted by beverlyclaire in Restaurants + Shops on 2011-07-31 | 4 comments
Are there days when you simply want to get off land and sail on a boat? At Yokohama Bay in Kanagawa, Japan, there’s a small recreational vessel called The Royal Wing , and she’s all set to put you on a little cruise whenever you feel like it.
The Royal Wing. Views of the nightscape as seen from the ship.
The boat, 86.7m (284ft) in length with a carrying capacity of 630 passengers, goes on very short, daily cruises around Yokohama Bay and Tokyo Bay . She has several restaurants and view decks, and offers three “cruise plans”: a lunch cruise, an afternoon tea cruise, and two dinner cruises. Each lasts for two hours, and on certain days there are also guided mini-tours of the ship, and special events such as cruise-with-your-pet-dog.
Full course dinner at The Royal Wing.
Cruises in the evening are a lovely affair, with a view of the twinkling stars above on a clear night. If it’s cloudy you may content yourself with the artificial lights around the bay, giving off a mysterious glow against the pitch blackness. The dining room’s interior is very simple: white walls, blue-gray carpeting, dark wooden chairs upholstered in beige leather, and white linen. A full course Chinese dinner, prepared by China Great Chef Master So Keili, awaits the seafaring (well, bay-faring) diners. When I surprised my husband with a dinner cruise to celebrate his birthday, I wasn’t that surprised to find out that around half of the couples that night were also celebrating birthdays. No, we didn’t do a loud, boisterous singing of the birthday song: a pair of musicians on the piano and violin did the instrumental rendition for us. Aside from the live music, a young woman did balloon tricks, asking each diner what her favorite animal was and creating that from a single tube-shaped balloon. Midway through the dinner we went up on the sun deck for a breather. It was in the middle of summer but being above water guaranteed a cool breeze.
Afternoon tea on The Royal Wing.
Another little excursion we went to is the afternoon tea cruise. This time there is no night scenery to enjoy, but it’s the cake buffet that everyone’s after. While the restaurant for the dinner cruise is on the second deck, the cafe is on the third. Louver-like glass panels separate the cafe from an adjoining hallway, and glass panes with paintings of flowers adorn the wood-veneered supports. Unlike the full course dinner, tea time is a very casual (and given the presence of little children, noisier) affair.
Mini tour of the ship.
On the days when it’s scheduled a guide takes a group of passengers for a mini tour inside the ship. We got to say ahoy to the captain and his crew. The captain showed a little boy how a piece of sonar equipment could detect fish underwater. We also took a peek inside the engine room, which looked like machine art to me.
Inside the ship. Top: small room for private parties. Bottom: entrance hall and gift shop.
The Royal Wing’s a fun ship, indeed, she has something for everyone. If you’re feeling really nautical you can even hold your wedding there. While we were taking a walk along the harbor we witnessed a very happy couple tying the knot aboard the ship, with the captain there to declare them husband-and-wife. The ship has a banquet hall for special events, and smaller rooms for private parties. There’s also a gift shop where you can get a pair of ship-themed mugs, among others.
For those of us that can’t board an ocean liner and take a luxury cruise around the world, or don’t own a private yacht, this little ship welcomes anyone wanting to cruise just a bit. There are better full course dinners and cake buffets on land. But The Royal Wing always seems to have a steady stream of people wanting to go on board. Perhaps that’s because, as Robert N. Rose has written, “Ships are the nearest thing to dreams that hands have ever made, For somewhere deep in their oaken hearts, the soul of a song is laid.”
Framed photo in the entrance hall. Inset: My husband on the sun deck.

Books to Consider
I’ve been on inter-island vessels and the best part is the clear skies and 180 degree view for stargazing. Would like to sail a yacht at least once. Favorite ship I like going to? MV Doulos (when it was still sailing) Cheap books galore! See here . I still have books I haven’t even started from that ship.
My guest writer offer stands! 😉
nightscape pics are cool! the one at the bottom’s got a nostalgic kinda feel. lucky you to get a shot with no one else around! also like the sepia-toned dining room. does the counter really curve or was it the camera?
Thanks, Krissie! If I remember correctly the counter didn’t curve, so it must be how I took the photos–joining two frames manually. The restaurant’s located on the bow end of the ship so the walls do curve to form a contoured trapezoid.

Royal Wing Yokohama Bay Cruise
Amazing lunch/dinner tour.

The Moscow metro now has a full 4G coverage
- On 19 Oct 2018
The Tele2 mobile network company became the first to build an infrastructure for 100% stations of the Moscow's metro. The high-quality 4G internet is now available on all 259 stations of the Moscow's metro, Moscow Central Circle (MCC) and monorail.
The operator has secured a 100% 4G indoor-coverage internet an all stations of the metropolitan metro, including the passageways, pavilions, and stairways. The investments into the project have exceeded 800 million rubles.
The Moscow underground is a specific infrastructure object, which has its own particularities. All works on designing, installation, and adjustment of the hardware should have been conducted exceptionally during night hours when the metro is closed for entry. A sufficient number of stations have a status of cultural heritage, thus, the network development has required additional approvement from the Department of Cultural Heritage of Moscow.
The network coverage within the metro system opens new horizons for the analysis of the "big data". Tele2 Network has analyzed the users' activity during the summer months and has indicated the busiest metro lines, which were: Tagansko-Krasnopresnenskaya, Zamoskvoretskaya and Kaluga-Riga lines. During the summer months, on the stations of Tagansko-Krasnopresnenskaya lines the subscribers have downloaded 125 TByte of internet-traffic, have made over 2 million calls with the total duration of 27 thousand hours, which equals to 3 years.
