Great Safari Tents
We recently stayed in one of the new safari tents. It’s offers superb value for money. 2 kings size comfortable beds, 2 singles, large bathroom with plenty of hot water and fully equipped kitchen (no oven). The photos are a bit misleading as there is no view of the lake from the safari tents though just a short walk gives you direct access to use a kayak or similar. Kids even swam with wetsuits on & played for hours! We spent a lot on Wi-fi as the voucher provided only lasted 2 days. We spent additional £50 for the week for just an ok service. The site was quiet and well maintained. Useful shop and laundry facilities. The only other negative for us was not being able to arrange a supermarket delivery on site. Always been able to wherever else we stayed. I ended up meeting Tesco as the entrance as his van was chased off site! Overall, would return - it’s a great location. More
Thank you for taking the time to write this review. We are very pleased that on the whole you enjoyed your stay enough to want to come back to our lovely Park. Hope to be welcoming you again soon. Kind Regards Gail Stevens Customer Services

Booking made & confirmed 'Pet Free' tent. What we paid for and booked for the safety of our children and our comfort was not what we received. Our 8yr old has serious pet allergies. We double checked on arrival - confirmed ‘Pet Free’ tent as per our booking confirmation. A few days in our daughter began to suffer from a sore throat and itchy eyes - we explained it couldn’t be due to her allergies, we were in a ‘Pet Free’ tent? On the Thurs after sweeping up a biscuit from the rug I noticed that the whole thing was absolutely plastered in dog hair! We have photos & video. ‘Pet Free’ tent; it certainly was not. We spoke to Central Res (recored conversation) & the site Sales Desk - were given totally conflicting stories and they even tried to explain that the pet hair was probably due to a guest allowing a dog into the tent?! Really?? With that much hair? They even tried to tell us our friends tent was the 'Pet Friendly' when they too had confirmed 'Pet Free'! If our younger daughter had suffered from allergic asthma this holiday would have been a total disaster, and a serious health and safety violation on the sites behalf! To others - be VERY CAREFUL - we are more infuriated with the fact the we have been misled on more than one occasion. Instead of leaving feeling relaxed and happy we left a night early, with one child dosed up to the eyes on antihistamines with a sore throat and swollen eyes.
Thank you for your review for your recent visit to our Park at Hill of Oaks. We are sorry to hear that you did not enjoy your stay with us. Would you be so kind as to send details on to our customer services team - [email protected] so that our Management Team can address these issues with you. Kind Regards Gail Stevens Customer Services
This site is in a beautiful location on the edge of lake Windermere. However, we did not enjoy our stay at all on the site. The pitches were cramped. The ladies facilities were filthy for most of the week we were there. They were not cleaned for 3 days, despite the site stating they are done daily. It took my friend reporting this to get it cleaned and the excuse was that they only had a male cleaner working the previous days. The door to the facilities states that a male cleaner will be in operation at times, so clearly this was a fob off. On the first afternoon there I took my friends children down to the shop to get an ice cream, and one of the boy’s was short changed, but afraid to go back in to the shop to say so, as he’s so timid. So I went in and explained to the ladies behind the counter. They gave each other look, as though I was being dishonest and eventually the lady gave him back his money out of her purse! No apology! I didn’t go back in the shop, as it made me feel so uncomfortable. Finally, the warden came to my friend’s caravan one morning and said we’d all be asked to leave the site if there were anymore complaints about the noise we made, after someone reported us the following morning. The complainant never came to the awning and asked us to be quiet like an adult would normally and a warden never came around at night to ask us to be quieter. We are 3 families with young children amongst us, but we’re made to feel like unruly youths.
Booked a three night stay, only stayed one! Arrived after a 5 hour drive to an unwelcoming receptionist, first shock that we were asked to pay £10 cash for a key to be able to use the toilets and showers! Second shock was the tourer pitch we had chosen, this was no little more than an uneven shingled small pull in place on the roadside, dangerous and noisy with traffic passing inches by day and night! Third shock, no lake views from pitch, no level flat areas to speak of and no where to exercise my dogs off the lead, very steep paths with static vans at every point. Lots of families so lots of noise right up until 11pm! Only plus the showers which where excellent, having paid to use on top! Not the tranquil, chilled break I was expecting.
Thank you for your recent review. We are sorry to hear that you did not enjoy your stay with us. Would you be so kind as to send your details to our customer service team: [email protected] to that our management team can address these issues for you. I would like to confirm that the £10.00 charge for the key for the toilet & shower block is a deposit only and is returned to you when you return the key. Kind Regards Gail Stevens Customer Services
We come here every year for a long weekend mid July. This site never fails to disappoint Park for the kids Fields to play in Picnic benches by the lake Posh tables and chairs by the lake where sunset can be watched Our kids played on the lake for 5 hours on Friday night and they loved it. Such a chilled site with a good shop. They were great at putting our 3 pitches together. Huge touring caravan pitches
Thank you so much for your lovely comments about our Park - Hill of Oaks situated next to Lake Windermere. Looking forward to welcoming you once again. Kind Regards Gail Stevens Customer Services
I booked 5 separate bookings for my family to celebrate a 70th birthday, 14 members of the family came some from the USA and Dubai , however when I arrived instead of being greeted politely I was greeted with - Hill of Oaks did not take group booking and were we planning to get together as a group, if so, any noise and we would be asked to leave immediately. I was so taken aback, we were a family ranging from 2 yrs to 70yrs just getting together for a short family holiday. I was then told in no uncertain terms to inform the rest of the party as they arrived of the need for quietness after 1030. I advised Maureen that she herself should tell them if she was that adamant about the issue. I booked this holiday 4 months before, they took my money quick enough but at no time was I told family group bookings weren’t allowed. I booked 2 caravans, 2 safari tents, and a pod. The irony of this event is that my family were the ones who were kept awake until 1.30am in the morning by other people on site making a noise and this was not a one off event. Were the asked to leave? No. I have no issue with quietness after a certain time, as avid caravaners we respect this at all times but what I do have issue with is the way people who think they are in authority are so rude to their customers, there are ways of communicating effectively which in this instance was grossly lacking .
Hi Geoffrey Thank you for taking the time to write this review. We have taken on board all your comments and will be addressing these issues in our next Management meeting. Kind Regards Gail Stevens Customer Services

I stayed in a glamping pod that was dog friendly. I loved the views and all the facilities it came with even in a smaller space.
The environment and the safari tent were excellent and very well maintained.
The area is surrounded by dense trees, plus it had an area at the back having a table to sit and have some tea/coffee. The kitchen had everything you can imagine. It felt like living at a hill with a direct access to lake.
Location and the interior of the property was amazing
best place I've stayed in, in my life. the views of the lady Holme apartment are out of this world. can't wait to come back
The location of Silverholme was exceptional - direct views onto the lake! We also had the Claiffe Heights pod which was a stone's throw away. Couldn't have asked for more from either property. The tranquility was amazing and everything is within easy reach. Gummer's How walk is just across the road.
It was completely different to what we are used to. Kids loved it. Amazing location. Easy to find the tent with the map and no contact with people using the codes getting through the barriers and getting the keys to unlock the tent. Friendly staff in the cafe & shop.
Beautiful holiday cottage, lovely and clean, very comfy beds. Lots of mod-cons & spacious. Easy drive into Bowness & lovely park & location.
Staff were super friendly and helpful, location of our glamping pod amazing - right by the lakeside. Quiet, peaceful location only 10 mins drive into nearest town.
a lovely clean modern apartment in a great location with everything we needed
Excellent location!

Whatever your age, you will find plenty to do when you visit the UNESCO World Heritage Lake District. The park is ideally situated, just a 10-mile drive to Bowness-on-Windermere, packed full of trendy bars and restaurants. Slightly further afield is Kendal around 20 minutes away, and under an hour's drive is Keswick and Ullswater, making it an ideal base for exploring much of the area. I was very disappointed to find out that there are no seasonal pitches available on this site. I have previously been given a weekly price for a pitch and have now been informed that there are no pitches available & the site does not have a waiting list. Do any seasonal pitchholders, know of anyone deciding to move on for next year? Hill of oaks was exactly what we wanted, a quiet, family site. Many thanks to anyone that can help us. Disappointed Mum of Sam Max & Sadie.

Hill Of Oaks & Blake Holme Caravan Estate, Windermere, Cumbria A beautifully situated site. It caters mainly for static caravans which are located in pleasant secluded bays among the trees. Some of these sites are poorly maintained by the caravan owners which somewhat spoiled the tranquility of the location. The touring pitches are all hard standing and are of an impressive size, the toilet blocks and facilities all immaculatley maintained - some of the best I have ever used. Childrens play park and football field are good but located too far from the touring area to allow children to play unsupervised. Friendly and helpful staff.

Ace Site We have a seasonal tourer on the site and we abosolutely love visiting the caravan each weekend We particually enjoy the friendlyness of the staff and other owners of caravans. We visit every weekend during the season and when the season end we always look forward to the start again.

Lovely accommodation. Apartment warm and cosy and outlook superb.

I booked this for as a 60th birthday present. They haven’t stopped talking about the accommodation, location, quality of the finish in the apartment, including the very kind gesture of a bottle of wine and goodies left for their special occasion. As a result, I cannot recommend this park enough. Just don't tell everyone, we won’t get booked again!

More

This Texas Glamping Property Near Austin Has Safari Tents With Wrap-around Decks and Is Next to a State Park
Outdoorsy Hill Country is tucked in the rolling Texas hills near the state's iconic wine trail.
If you need another reason to visit the Texas Hill Country , consider this: the rolling landscape is now home to a luxury glamping retreat with safari tents surrounded by wrap-around decks and a spring-fed lake. The new property, Outdoorsy Hill Country , is both the latest addition to the Texas Hill Country and the newest property in the Outdoorsy portfolio, an RV rental marketplace that is making a name for itself for its glamping-style retreats.
Outdoorsy Hill Country is nestled in Stonewall, Texas, between Austin and Fredericksburg on 32 acres. The property is expansive, with a spring-fed lake, walking trails, and a grove of live oaks. The day starts and ends with one of Texas’ spectacular sunrises and sunsets — best viewed from the wrap-around deck enveloping each of the property’s 22 safari tents.
“Our vision was to create an iconic destination that fuses rustic charm, immersive outdoor experiences, and refined Hill Country hospitality for thoughtful travelers from Texas and beyond,” Jeff Cavins, Outdoorsy's CEO, said in a press release shared with Travel + Leisure .
Jen Young, the co-founder and CMO of Outdoorsy, added, "We fell in love with Hill Country when we built a glamping tent for ourselves … we couldn't be more delighted to share this space with guests who are seeking out the restoration that time in nature provides.”
While nature may be the focus of a stay at Outdoorsy Hill Country, the highlight is the lodging. Each all-season glamping tent is surrounded by a panoramic deck and private fire pit.
Inside, there’s a king-size bed and a twin and trundle bed to sleep two to four people and full temperature control, with both heat and air-conditioning on tap. Rounding out the offerings are a fully equipped kitchenette and a private ensuite bathroom with a rainshower and plush robes.
Beyond the privacy of your secluded hideaway, you’ll find a handful of on-property offerings, including a cafe and bar with outdoor seating overlooking the neighboring Lyndon B. Johnson State Park and a menu that features juices, smoothies, and grab-and-go breakfast options in the morning and craft cocktails and local wines at night.
The live oaks provide shelter for the outdoor live music venue, while the country store sells everything you need to grill or assemble an afternoon picnic.
Further afield, guests can explore the Texas Wine Trail , which is on the doorstep of Outdoorsy Hill Country. (Plus, the Crown Hill Winery is right next door). In the neighboring towns of Luckenbach and Albert, there are historic dance halls, while the Lyndon B. Johnson State Park is just across the road.
Outdoorsy Hill Country is now taking reservations for stays starting March 21. The property’s first round of guests will be treated to views of the Total Solar Eclipse on April 8.
