10 of America’s Best Water Parks
Make a splash at these fun-filled oases.

Whether you’re four or 40, there’s nothing quite like the thrill of zipping down a waterslide on a hot summer day, feeling the rush of adrenaline that comes with every twist, turn and drop, then plummeting into a shallow pool, climbing out, and doing it all over again. Waterparks are some of life’s most nostalgic places, where sore feet and sunburns are the mark of a day well spent.
From innovative theming to record-breaking attractions, here are 10 of America’s best waterparks.
Universal’s Volcano Bay | Orlando, Florida
Schlitterbahn New Braunfels | New Braunfels, Texas
Claiming the title of “World’s Best Waterpark,” the Schlitterbahn park in New Braunfels, Texas, packs more than 51 attractions into 70 acres. The name nods to the area’s German heritage, with dedicated sections housing slides, coasters, rivers and pools interspersed through natural landscaping.
Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park | Orlando, Florida
No one does a theme quite like Disney, and Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park is no exception. Telling the story of a legendary storm that struck a tropical island, the focal point of the park is a shrimp boat stuck on top of Mt. Mayday. The surrounding 56 acres are filled with waterslides, a surf pool and the kid-friendly Ketchakiddee Creek playground.
LEGOLAND California Resort | Carlsbad, California
Bare feet and LEGOs finally go hand-in-hand at LEGOLAND California’s waterpark. Interspersed with the park’s waterslides and wave pools are activities like the “Imagination Station,” where kids (and let’s be honest, adults) can build bridges and dams with DUPLO bricks, build a boat to race or build a LEGO raft in the lazy river.
Noah’s Ark Waterpark | Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin
Wisconsin Dells may be known as the “Waterpark Capital of the World,” but one rises above the rest with an impressive record: it claims “America’s Largest Waterpark.” Noah’s Ark Waterpark is often a pioneer in water rides, introducing a glowing slide this year (Chameleon) to enjoy alongside the world’s largest king cobra slide (Raja) and the country’s first nearly vertical looping slide (Scorpion’s Tail).
Six Flags White Water | Marietta, Georgia
Six Flags Over Georgia has a dedicated water park onsite, Six Flags White Water . As its name suggests, there are plenty of adrenaline-inducing rides like the tropical storm-themed Typhoon Twister or the ultra-tall Dive Bomber with a 90-degree drop. For casual park-goers, Six Flags White Water also has a wave pool and lazy river.
Splashin’ Safari | Santa Claus, Indiana
In a town called Santa Claus, a holiday-themed amusement park just makes sense. Navigating through Holiday World park sections with themes like Halloween and Fourth of July will lead you to Splashin’ Safari, a sprawling tropical park with nearly 50 attractions, including the world’s longest water coaster. Holiday World and Splashin’ Safari promise value, with one ticket admitting entry to both parks and free soft drinks and sunscreen offered throughout.
The Boardwalk at Hersheypark | Hershey, Pennsylvania
The sweetest waterpark around, the Boardwalk at Hersheypark is the waterlogged counterpart to the adjacent candy-inspired amusement park. Challenge your friends at the world’s longest mat racing slides, get an adrenaline rush on a watercoaster, or opt to float down the (more than) 1,300-foot lazy river.
Great Wolf Lodge | Multiple Locations
We’d be remiss not to mention the largest chain of indoor waterparks in the country, Great Wolf Lodge . Contrary to most others on the list, these parks stay open year-round for aquatic adventure no matter the weather. From California all the way to Massachusetts, guests can enjoy wave pools, slides and lazy rivers all day long, then retire to their resort-style accommodations without ever leaving the property. 2023 will welcome two new properties: Great Wolf Lodge Maryland and Great Wolf Lodge Poconos .
Cowabunga Bay | Multiple Locations
There are two outposts of Cowabunga Bay , a retro surfer-inspired waterpark in Las Vegas and Draper, Utah. Skip the strip and head to the Nevada location, where more than 25 attractions like body slides, racers and an all-dark tube slide add to the thrill. The Utah counterpart has 11 colorful slides and a dedicated area for little adventurers.

The third largest mammals on land is the hippopotamus. These animals can weigh up to 2000 kg. The common hippopotamus lives near rivers, lakes and mangrove swamps. During the day, they remain cool by staying in the water or mud, at dusk they come out to graze on the grasses.
Elephants are undoubtedly the largest mammals and live in a very large group, which are led by the most experienced female in the group. They need around 200kg of food daily including grass, bamboo, nuts and fruit. They drink about 150 liters of water per day. What’s more, they also have a very strong sense of smell.
The tiger is the largest member of the "big cat" species, as they can weigh up to 350 kg. They usually hunt for food in the late afternoons or at night for larger prey like wild pigs, deer, and, at times, monkeys and even frogs. Tigers need to feed on up to 27 kilograms of meat in one night, but more often they consume up to 6 kilograms of meat during a meal.

Exploring beyond the water park, don’t forget that Lion County Safari is an experience in itself.
This is one of the few places where you can observe animals roaming freely in large preserves, making for an educational and exciting detour from the aquatic fun.
It’s a two-for-one kind of day where water splashing and wildlife watching blend seamlessly.

Splashin' Safari: A Great Water Park That's Free
At Holiday World in Santa Claus, Indiana
Splashin' Safari is one of the biggest and best water parks in the nation. And it's free.
Well, sort of free. It's included with admission to Holiday World , the holiday-themed park adjacent to Splashin' Safari. Since it is not a standalone water park, it makes the fact that is among the country’s largest and finest water parks all the more impressive. (If you are planning a visit, be sure to bring dry clothes to enjoy Holiday World's incredible coasters and other attractions; likewise, folks planning to visit Holiday World should remember to pack a bathing suit.) Splashin' Safari easily makes the list of the best water parks at theme parks .
The theme is African (that's the "Safari" part), hence the silly ride names. The schizophrenic park also has a California theme (that's the "Splashin' " part we guess) and plays Beach Boys and other surf tunes over the loudspeakers.
Splashin’ Safari’s Slides and Attractions
The park is so big it has not one, not two, but three water coasters . And not just any water coasters, but the world's longest.
When the approximately 1/3-mile-long Wildebeest opened in 2010, it captured the title. It uses linear induction motors to propel its rafts uphill. Wildebeest reaches a top speed of around 25 mph, includes two tunnels (a Holiday World staple on its dry coasters), and lasts two minutes and 30 seconds. In 2012, Splashin' Safari opened Mammoth and broke its own record. The newer water coaster exceeds Wildebeest by about 50 feet in length. It, too, uses linear induction motors and offers a thrilling ride.
The towering 102-foot tall ZOOMbabwe, among the world's tallest enclosed water slides, is another one of the park's featured rides and is a real winner. Riders experience much of its ride in the dark. Other attractions included Bakuli, a bowl ride, the Jungle Racer mat racing slide, and the Zinga funnel ride .
In 2018, Splashin' Safari expanded with the addition of attractions designed for younger visitors. Tembo Falls is a water slide complex with eight slides geared to kiddos, including a mini-bowl ride, two racing slides, a helix, and twisters. The park also added Tembo Tides, a junior wave pool.
Tembo Tides increased the total number of wave pools to three. With two lazy rivers two interactive water play structures, and a slew of other things to do, the attractions can accommodate a lot of guests. With its enormous capacity, the park generally doesn't feel out-of-control crowded, even on busy, hot days.
What’s New at Splashin’ Safari?
In 2020, the water park introduced its third water coaster, Cheetah Chase. Holiday World is billing it as the “world’s first launched water coaster.” Since no water coasters include lift hills (that we know of) and use water jets, electromagnetic motors, or fast moving conveyor belts to accelerate their rafts, all of them are “launched.” What makes Cheetah Chase unique is that side-by-side rafts are launched along a flat section of the flume after which they race against one another. Passengers experience two "flying saucer” elements that generate strong G-forces and pivot the rafts around.
More Free Stuff
The family-owned park has an almost religious devotion to customer satisfaction. The grounds are spotless, the prices are reasonable, and the ride ops and other staff are unfailingly polite and cheerful.
While other parks seem intent on wringing every last cent out of their guests, get a load of what Splashin' Safari and Holiday World include at no extra charge: free parking, complimentary inner tubes, unlimited free beverages (including soft drinks, coffee, and tea), and free sunscreen. Now, that's what we call putting customers first.
What’s to Eat?
The food is decent at the park. Within Splashin' Safari, the choices include Wildebeestro, which features burgers and salads, Jungle Jake‘s, which offers wings and chicken tenders, Safari Pizza, and Sam’s BBQ. For sweets and snacks, there’s Safari Ice Cream and Bahari Snacks, which has funnel cakes and corn dog bites.
For a good pick beyond the water park, consider Plymouth Rock Cafe. The indoor dining spot has roast turkey, beef brisket, roasted chicken and other entrees on the menu, as well as fixing such as sweet potato casserole, cinnamon apples, and mac & cheese. Another good place is Santa’s Merry Marketplace, which offers pizza, burgers, deli sandwiches, and desserts such as Blueberry Flapjack Cake.
Admission Policy, Operating Schedule, Hotel Info, and Location:
Splashin' Safari is included with general admission to Holiday World. The combined parks offer reduced prices for children (under 54") and seniors (60+). Ages 2 and under are free. Multi-day passes and next-day passes are available. Season passes and group rates are available. Special promotions and discounted tickets may be available online at the park's Web site . Parking is free. Private cabanas are available to rent.
Weather permitting, Splashin' Safari is open mid-May through mid-September. Holiday World is open early May through late October. (Oddly, the Christmas-themed park does not remain open through the holiday season.)
Lake Rudolph Campground & RV Resort is located next to Holiday World and operated by the same family. There are other lodging options nearby.
Splashin' Safari and Holiday World is located at 452 E. Christmas Blvd. in Santa Claus, Indiana. (Yes, that is the real name of the town.) From I-64: Take Exit 63. Go south on Highway 162 for 7 miles, until 162 comes to a "T." Turn right and head up the hill to the park.

Safari Joe’s closes, making way for Paradise Beach Waterpark
Video: Safari Joe’s closes, making way for Paradise Beach Waterpark
TULSA, Okla. — Safari Joe’s has sat at the corner of E. 21st Street and S. Yale since 2015. However, the park came under new management in Dec. 2022.
What was once Safari Joe’s H20 will now be Paradise Beach Waterpark, which is locally owned and operated.
FOX23 spoke to the new staff, who says that the plan is to create a family-friendly waterpark for the community and they plan to hire 125 employees this summer.
According to Aaron Suntken, Director of Park Operations, the park is currently undergoing renovations. There are plans to update some of the slides and the equipment, and replace pools and the amenities that have seen some wear and tear over the years. The goal is to revamp the entire park.
“That’s our intention. To make it more of a resort-style park, to make sure that kids and their parents can enjoy the park equally and have a great experience here. It’s going to be more like an oasis,” said Sunkten. “We’re making changes to the slides. They’re going to get resurfaced. They’re going to be brighter. They’re going to be faster. They’re going to be sleeker.”
Paradise Beach Waterpark - Tulsa
There are even going to be palm trees on-site.
The enormous project won’t be accomplished this season or even by next season. Sukten says it will be a work in progress.

“The owner is committed to making this the nicest park in the area,” said Sunkten. “We’re going to be a destination for sure. It’s going to be a destination inside Oklahoma to out of staters. You’ll just have to come out and see.”
All of the passes that were previously purchased for 2023 for Safari Joe’s are going to be honored and valid.
Paradise Beach Waterpark will be posting updates on its Facebook page, including an official open date for the next season.

The Grove in Orlando is the best family hotel that I have been to. The staff and customer service are amazing here. Always smiling and willing to help. This hotel is like a home away from Home . Very spacious for big families and big groups. They have two and three bedroom suites, amazing restaurants, pools, and a market on site. Rates start from $200 a night during the off season and up to $400 during the high season. Access to the waterpark is included with your stay. And truly the waterpark is the best park. They have poolside service, a lazy river and lots of lifeguards standing by. The only downfall I see of this property is that is so big so there's a lot of walking. But overall it's an amazing hotel. Very close to the Disney parks and plenty of room for families. You can even do groceries and cook and if you want to. This is my go to resort when in the area. I highly recommend it.
What's better than cheap? FREE, all access water park INCLUDED in your Grove Resort stay. Enjoy water slides, relax in the (heated) lazy River, fire water canons, swim in their centralized (heated) pool, and splash in an aquatic playground area targeted for younger kids. Perfect for families and vacationers of ALL ages. Our fam of 6 never had an issue scoring complimentary towels, reclining sun chairs, tables, and/or umbrellas. You can even pay $30 for 30m or $55 for 1 hr to tackle the Flow Rider, a super cool surf simulator. In addition to a bar/grill onsite, they pipe in cool, upbeat tunes to enjoy throughout the park. At times, this includes COVID/CDC safety announcements.

A Guide to the Most Beautiful Green Spaces in Moscow
Home to more parks than any other city in Russia , Moscow offers a cornucopia of choice when it comes to green spaces. From innovative wild urbanism to 18th-century royal estates, here are the best places to escape from the city buzz in Russia’s capital.
Spread over a territory of almost 300 acres, Gorky Park is Moscow’s most popular green space. Opened in 1928, it was designed as ‘a city inside a city’ with its own telegraph, police unit and a doctor’s office. Some 90 years later, Gorky Park offers everything from segway rides to an open-air movie theatre, through to illuminating lectures and fantastic dining spots.
9 Krimsky Val, Moscow, Russia , +7 495 995 00 20
As the name implies, Muzeon is perfect for art lovers. The park plays host to art fairs, exhibitions, music festivals and video performances. But even if you don’t care for art, Muzeon has a lot to offer: from an elegant boardwalk to hip coffee shops to an in-ground fountain, where you can actually cool off in summer.
2 Krimsky Val, Moscow, Russia , +7 985 382 27 32
Hermitage Garden
Opened in 1894, the Hermitage garden is a lovely compact park, nestled between high rise buildings in Moscow center. Home to theaters New Opera, Hermitage and Sphera, the garden is predictably crowded, with theatre-goers along with office workers from the business centres in Tverskaya – all flock here for a green respite.
3 Karetnyy Ryad, Moscow, Russia , +7 495 699 04 32
Sokolniki Park
An open-air cinema, a rope course, amusement park, bike rentals and more – Sokolniki is 1,275 acres of fun. In winter the whole park turns into one of Moscow’s most famous skating rinks. Sokolniki gradually blends into Losiny Ostrov National Park – the world’s third largest forest in a city.
1 Sokol’nicheskiy Val, bld. 1, Moscow, Russia , +7 499 393 92 22
Izmailovsky Park
Moscow’s biggest park, Izmailovsky stretches for almost 3,800 acres. Particularly favored by hikers and cyclists, the forest-like park is a popular family spot, equipped with a ferris wheel, outdoor gyms and all kinds of places to eat.
7 Alleya Bol’shogo Kruga, Moscow, Russia , +7 499 166 61 19
Tsaritsyno Museum-Reserve
Tsaritsyno estate is a perfectly reconstructed specimen of 18th century architecture set amid a lush green forested area. The only park in Moscow that boasts a light and music fountain, Tsaritsyno draws crowds with spectacular night water shows.
1 Dol’skaya Ulitsa, Moscow, Russia , +7 499 725 72 87
Severnoye Tushino Park
Despite a rather remote location, this park is definitely worth a visit. A half-a-century old apple garden, serene views on Khimkinskoye reservoir and a dry-docked submarine housing a Museum of Submarine Navy will definitely make up for the ride from the city centre.
Ulitsa Svobody, Moscow, Russia , +7 495 640 73 55
Kolomenskoye
Kolomenskoye Park is not merely a tranquil green space, but a celebrated museum reserve, where nature and historically significant architecture blend together. Here you can see one of Moscow’s oldest churches Church of the Ascension and a former residence of the Tsar Aleksey Mikhailovich Romanov, the father of Peter the Great. It’s also perfect for romantic walks along the Moskva river.
39 Andropova Ave, Moscow, Russia , +7 499 782 89 17
In this park you’re guaranteed to encounter some ducks, woodpeckers, squirrels, hares and urban wildlife. The park is also famous for its beautiful boardwalk, open-air cinema, ropes course Panda Park, gallery of retro cars and a variety of places to eat.
22/1 Ulitsa Bol’shaya Filevskaya, Moscow, Russia , +7 499 145 45 05
The former estate of the Sheremetev family, Kuskovo is a fascinating piece of 18th-century Russia. Home to 20 unique architectural monuments, it is Moscow’s only historical park with a French formal garden, decorated with green walkways, marble statue and state-of-the art pavilions.

Designed by an international consortium, the 35-acre park brought 'wild urbanism' right to the Kremlin walls, sampling the country's distinct regional landscapes: steppes, tundra, wetlands and forests. The park's major draws are the 70-meter (230-feet)-high 'floating' bridge over the ...
