If you’re thinking to yourself, “there can’t be too many Zooey Deschanels knocking about, that must be the same one from (500) Days of Summer and New Girl and the like,” you would, of course, be exactly right. Accordingly, you should probably prepare yourself for some degree of fangirl attendance at She & Him shows, but beyond that, we should only really discuss her musical merits here (and avoid mentioning that she inspired ex-husband Ben Gibbard to start writing songs with titles like ‘Stay Young, Go Dancing’.)

It’s easy to forget that Spin magazine voted the pair’s debut, Volume One, as the best record of 2008; back then it seemed to come out of leftfield, but since Deschanel and M. Ward have proved it was no one-off with two fine follow-ups. Live, there’s an expansive backing band to bring some of the more complex numbers to life - particularly the gorgeous retro-pop likes of ‘I’ve Got Your Number, Son’ and ‘Never Wanted Your Love’ from Volume Three - but it’s when it’s just the two of them onstage that their shows really take off; they’ve yet to top their stellar version of ‘You’ve Really Got a Hold on Me’, although the stripped-back loveliness of ‘Brand New Shoes’ runs it mighty close.

4/5 Stars: I couldn't have asked for a better set list. It seemed like Zooey Deschanel was a little lost at times; she flubbed some lyrics and on a few occasions expressed confusion about which song was next on the set list. That being said, perhaps she just needed to shake off some rust. This might have been the first stop on the tour, after all!

She & Him Announce New Tour Dates Ahead of Beach Boys Cover Album Release

by Jacob Uitti June 13, 2022, 11:44 am

She & Him, the music project of M. Ward and Zoey Deschanel, has announced a series of upcoming new tour dates (to go along with dates already in the works) as the duo prepares to release their upcoming new Beach Boys cover LP.

Videos by American Songwriter

The duo’s current tour dates begin Monday, June 13 in Denver, Colorado, and will span through the end of the month with stops in locales such as Salt Lake City, San Diego, and Los Angeles.

And they’ve added new fall tour dates, too, in cities such as Boston, Brooklyn, Philadelphia, and Portland, Maine. Fans can see the full list of shows below, which begin September 9 and run through the 16th. Tickets for She & Him’s upcoming tour can be found HERE .

The new shows come as the band is set to release their new album, Melt Away: A Tribute to Brian Wilson , an LP dedicated to the songs of the former Beach Boy, which is slated to drop this summer on July 22 via Fantasy Records.

Said the duo in a press statement, “In the spring of 2020, we started a list of our favorite Brian songs—a very long list. We chose songs without any regard for their chart performance. The obscure ones hit us just as hard as the more popular songs—and all are ripe for re-imagining, re-interpreting, and re-inventing. Brian writes songs of beauty and loneliness and vulnerability better than anyone—and by sequencing them next to popular songs of confidence and love and fun, it creates a more complete picture of life on earth.”

Added Brian Wilson on the new She & Him cover album, “Zooey and Matt did such mind-blowing versions of our songs. The harmonies are beautiful and right on. I love this record!”

The group, which formed in 2006, is the project between indie musician M. Ward and actress-turned-songwriter Zoey Deschanel. To date, the duo has released six LPs, including their debut Volume One in 2008. They’ve also released two holiday albums, A Very She & Him Christmas in 2011 and Christmas Party in 2016.

Zooey Deschanel Shares What’s in Store For the A Very She & Him Christmas Party Tour

Zooey Deschanel previews She & Him's upcoming holiday tour and more in this exclusive interview.

By Gab Ginsberg

Gab Ginsberg

She & Him

She & Him ( Zooey Deschanel and M. Ward ) are about to head on the road for a handful of special holiday shows. The duo’s 2011 album A Very She & Him Christmas has become a staple of the season, and what better way to spread Christmas cheer than by…? Oh, you know the rest.

The tour, dubbed A Very She & Him Christmas Party , kicks off Wednesday (Dec. 4) in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania at The Met, and wraps the following week with two nights at The Ace in Los Angeles.

Ahead of the special tour, Billboard caught up with Deschanel to talk all things holidays, and why you won’t want to miss this one.

What do you love about holiday-specific tours like this one?

Trending on Billboard

I’ve always loved the holidays, and I especially love holiday music. It’s one of the things that I look forward to all year long. I’ve always, since I was a kid, loved singing Christmas carols, then I was in choir. It’s just one of the things I most enjoy. And Matt [M. Ward] really loves Christmas music, too. So that’s how we started when we made our first Christmas record, and then we loved that so much, and it was so much fun, that we made a second one [2016’s Christmas Party ].

Last year, She & Him also embarked on a small run of tour dates around the holidays. What made you want to reprise that — and what’s going to be different about 2019?

We had always talked about doing a holiday tour. Finally we were able to last year, and we had the best time, so we thought we’d go to the East Coast this time, and the West Coast as well. I was a little scared of the cold, but I think I can handle it!

Patton Oswalt and more comedians will be opening for you on the tour, which is cool. Why go in that direction, as opposed to opting for a musical opener?

Well, partially because they’re specialty shows. These aren’t just concerts — it’s like a holiday party thing. Adding an element of variety there really helps add to that. We like having funny people around; we like working with comedians. And then we like to have them come up on stage while we’re doing our show, too, so that’s also fun.

Is Grace VanderWaal the Biggest 'New Girl' Fan Ever? Zooey Deschanel Puts Her to the Test For…

What can fans expect from the setlist?

We do actually play [some] non-holiday songs. We want to bring the people what they want! You play some of the hits and you play the holiday stuff and make it fun. That’s the goal.

Then, there’s never a shortage of songs that Matt and I like to cover. That’s just one of the joys in life, and one of the things that I enjoy when we’re touring — a lot of times we’ll work out songs backstage and add an element of newness and fun and spontaneity. We’ll just add covers into the set that we’ve never played before, and that’s always really fun.

They provide essentials [that] we all take for granted to underserved communities, like diapers and clothes and shoes and those things that are absolute necessities. They do an amazing job of making sure that all those necessities get into the hands of people who need them. We like to have an element of giving with all of our Christmas stuff, like our records and our shows.

Did you ever expect She & Him to become such a big part of the modern holiday music canon?

With our first Christmas record, something magical happened there. Like, I hear it playing all the time. We made it in six days — we just basically went in the studio and were like, “Oh, do you know this Christmas song? Let’s do it.” It was really organic, very off the cuff, and that’s the way I feel about a lot of successes I’ve had in my life, [when it’s] something I really like and finding that a lot of other people like something too.

Finally, can we expect more She & Him music? Will there be a Volume 4?

Always. We are always working. Matt and I are in the same city now, and he has always lots of projects going on, but he always makes time for She & Him, which I really appreciate. We are able to work together a lot. I have a bunch of half-finished songs!

She & Him eager to bring Chicago Christmas classics in concert

Though actress zooey deschanel and singer-songwriter m. ward have had three albums of original material, their holiday renditions are classics in their own right..

Eliot Lee Hazel

While Bing and Burl and Ol’ Blue Eyes have had a hold on the holiday music market for decades, one of the best gifts of the modern era is undoubtedly indie folk duo She & Him.

That is, “New Girl” actress Zooey Deschanel (She) and singer-songwriter M. Ward (Him). Though they’ve had three albums of original material, their holiday covers are classics in their own right.

If you’ve seen the movie “Elf,” you know the pipes Deschanel has as her character Jovie belts out a retro-chic take on “Baby, It’s Cold Outside” during a scene with Buddy (Will Ferrell).

In real life, she and Ward bring that same vintage swagger to the covers they’ve taken on, including the aforementioned and controversial “Baby” (opting to switch the male-female parts of the song to make it a bit less cringe-worthy).

“Baby, It’s Cold Outside” is featured on the reissue of “A Very She & Him Christmas,” the duo’s third album for Merge Records and first holiday-themed offering, which is celebrating its 10-year anniversary this year. To mark the occasion, Deschanel and Ward are hitting the road for eight tour dates this month, including the Chicago Theatre Tuesday.

“We really missed being able to play live music, and also music was kind of what got us through the pandemic,” Deschanel said. “We want to bring that feeling to everybody now.”

Ward, who said one of She & Him’s “best shows ever” was at Millennium Park in 2010, added, “The disappointment of having to cancel so many shows has turned into the excitement of this tour we’re about to start, and we are ever so happy we will be able to visit Chicago. I just hope it’s snowy.”

Fans also can expect to hear a seven-piece ensemble deliver the material from “A Very She & Him Christmas,” such as the delicately sweet “Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas” paired with Ward’s soft guitar strumming, a ukulele-driven “Silver Bells” and an upbeat, ‘60s-style duet on “Sleigh Ride.”

Here’s hoping they’ll also unwrap their latest tributes (added to the album’s anniversary reissue): Wham!’s “Last Christmas” and Madonna’s “Holiday.”

“ ‘Holiday’ really happened by accident,” Ward said. “We didn’t have the idea to connect it with any of our Christmas records at all. But, if you dig into the lyrics of that song, I think it’s just asking to be turned up in December.”

A portion of proceeds from the limited-edition reissue will go to an organization close to their hearts, 826 National, a nonprofit that fuels creativity and writing skills in youth. And $1 from each presale ticket for their shows will be given to Baby2Baby, which provides necessities for children in poverty.

“We like to have that as a part of our Christmas holiday mission,” Deschanel said.

With so many seasonal covers already in the can — they also released a second collection called “Christmas Party” in 2016 — is anything off-limits in choosing the songs they’ll take on next?

“Nothing’s sacred,” Deschanel said.

She and Ward even did the unthinkable five years ago, opting to do a rendition of the Mariah Carey juggernaut “All I Want For Christmas Is You” and finding out the hard way what a strict publishing agreement Carey has, preventing any covers from being televised.

“It’s literally only Mariah that’s allowed to sing that,” Deschanel said.

Don’t expect any original Christmas songs from She & Him.

“I would have a hard time finding inspiration,” Deschanel said. “It’s a very narrow genre of music, and there are so many amazing songs already.”

She does point to the track “Merry Christmas, Happy New Year” that she co-authored with songstress Ingrid Michaelson this year as one example. “So you never know,” she said.

What will likely come next is an album of original material eight years after their lauded “Volume 3.” Deschanel and Ward recorded so much together during the pandemic that she said they have a “whole album’s worth” of material.

“Hopefully, it’ll be out next year,” Ward said.

When the concert run is over, there’s more festive cheer to look forward to at home.

“Music has always been my favorite holiday tradition,” Deschanel said. “I loved caroling growing up, whether singing at a party or actually going out caroling. And, of course, seeing my family and having everyone together this year,.”

“I just look forward to seeing happy faces,” Ward said.

No doubt they’ll get a lot of that on the road, too, as their shows spread much-needed cheer.

Apple TV+ has announced a new Peanuts special Lucy’s School, and Billboard reported that She & Him have created a song, “Back To School,” for the soundtrack. The song is streaming exclusively on Billboard .

The musical duo of singer/actress Zooey Deschanel and singer/songwriter M. Ward have contributed to the show with lighthearted lyrics and a playful celebration of the nerves that come with another school year.

“It was such an honor to be included in the wonderful music tradition of Peanuts television specials,” She & Him said in a statement exclusively to Billboard . “We are so excited for everyone to see this show and to hear this back to school song we had so much fun writing and recording!”

The new track follows their celebrated tribute to Brian Wilson, Melt Away . To celebrate the release, the duo shared an animated lyric video for “Wouldn’t It Be Nice,” a track from the project. The video reimagines the duo in paper doll form—accompanied by a slew of singing animals.

The album features singles like “Don’t Worry Baby,” which appeared on The Beach Boys’ March 1964 album Shut Down Volume 2 . Written by Brian Wilson and Roger Christian, Wilson’s lead vocal on the track is considered one of his defining performances, and he later referred to “Don’t Worry Baby” as perhaps the Beach Boys’ finest record. “Darlin’,” “Wouldn’t It Be Nice,” and “Til I I Die” were the first three singles to be released from Melt Away .

“‘Don’t Worry Baby’ is one of the greatest songs of all time. As with all the other songs on our tribute record, we had no interest in copycatting the original production—our version began with stripping the song down to just vocals and a drop-tuned acoustic guitar and building from there,” explained the duo about the track.

Lax traveler rips delta, ‘useless’ pete buttigieg in wild caught-on-camera tirade — before realizing she’s in wrong terminal.

A badly confused airline passenger was caught on camera losing her cool at Los Angeles airport workers in an expletive-laden tirade — only to find out she was in the wrong terminal and yelling at the wrong people all along.

The woman was filmed lobbing f-bombs and a list of near-incoherent demands at a row of workers after apparently missing her Delta Airlines flight, according to alarming footage captured by TMZ .

“Get me the f–k up on the next flight you motherf–kers!” she yelled while storming around the check-in desk with her bag and neck pillow ready to fly nearby.

“Get me up on the next flight!” she then screamed.

The woman had apparently been drinking and missed her flight, and wanted to be rebooked

“Call Pete Buttigieg right now! Call that motherf–ker right now!” she declared, apparently hoping the nation’s Secretary of Transportation might step in to save her.

“That useless motherf–ker,” she added, breathlessly, insisting she was ready to call him in herself.

“Get me up on the next flight. And pay for that s–t.”

The woman broke out into laughter after she realized she was in the wrong terminal at the end of the tirade

As she made her rounds about the check-in she punctuated her demands with a fist on the countertops, but all she seemed able to do was make the staff laugh and passersby gawk at the spectacle.

Eventually, somebody informed her that she was not in fact admonishing staff from Delta Airlines — her intended target — but that she was pouring fire on the ears of workers for WestJet — a Canadian airline.

“You’re not Delta?” she said as she broke into a broad grin and she stumbled back, lurching and giggling to herself as the desk broke out in laughter, too.

It is unclear if they were laughing with her or at her.

It also remains unclear whether she found Delta Airlines, or what became of them if she did.

She and Him in Concert: A Review and a Lesson

posted on August 20, 2013

…i n which Zooey Daschanel teaches me about the importance of being Here. Now.

If you work for a living you know: it’s always the little things that win the day.

Sure, you might drive in to work, clean your inbox, take care of the bosses’ stuff, but that’s all just the treadmill. There’s more to winning than that. When those big moments come with clients and coworkers, you need to be ON. As Bud Fox said to himself in the mirror in the classic film Wall Street before he entered the office of big-time stock market guru Gordon Gekko: There are few moments in life that matter. This is one of them.

I bring this up because a few weeks ago I went with my kids to see She & Him in concert. If you don’t know She & Him, you owe it to yourself to look them up. They’re a mellow duo, comprised of a guy named M. Ward, who’s a hip singer/songwriter, and Zooey Daschanel, the popular TV and film star (Elf, The New Girl).

First of all, who doesn’t want to be the hip dad and go to a concert with their kids? I don’t want to get in the way of my children, but this is a band that we’ve shared together for the last severa years, so I was fired up when they both were fired up about heading to Dallas for the trip to see the band.

For me, She & Him is great writing music. The melodies stick in my head and I find myself humming, but it doesn’t distract me enough to bring me out of my writing trance. My “work” mix of music features a ton of She & Him. Because of their catchy tunes, I was pretty excited about the night.

Before I Go On, Here’s What’s Involved

….when I decide to go to a concert. The closest mid-sized city is Little Rock, Arkansas. That’s two hours away. She & Him wasn’t scheduled to come to Little Rock. They were playing in Dallas, which was three hours away. So to make an 8 pm show, we’d have to:

–       Fill up the car with gas.

–       Plan on dinner out.

–       Maybe make overnight accommodations.

In this case, because there were three of us who could drive (my twins are 18), we decided not to spend the night.

Luckily, the band offered seats at the show for $35. While this may seem like a lot of money, many acts touring charge $85. In fact, Kid Rock recently lowered his ticket prices, to much acclaim. She & Him was also doing their part to make the night affordable. However, because of our drive, it was still going to be an expensive night.

The Concert

We were excited. Remember being 18 years old? Just being at a concert with my kids was thrilling because they were just so pumped to be at a real, live show. The opening act, the Secret Sisters, were very good, engaging with the crowd and telling stories about their songs. People were swaying to the music. It was exciting.

Then She & Him came onstage.

After the first song, Zooey talked to the audience, bitching about the heat. Then she made fun of a few audience members for parroting everything she said. In fact, the few times she talked to the crowd, she either complained about or made fun of audience members. She sat on a stool and sang. At the end of the night they reappeared briefly for an encore, which was one short song in length (less than four minutes). Then it was over.

If my eyes had been closed, it would have been a fine night. Zooey can sing beautifully. But with my eyes closed, it was fairly close to the mp3’s that I play at home. I didn’t need the long drive and pizza dinner out on the town. I could have done that at home. As we made our way toward the car, I said, “You know, I still like their music a ton.” To which my son, Nick, answered, “Yeah, but don’t they have concerts to make you love them more?” They didn’t make anyone in my family love them more with that show.

What a lesson. When we’re “performing” at our jobs, how often have you been so into your own thoughts or your personal project that you totally forgot what was on the other person’s mind?

–       What baggage are they bringing to the table?

–       What might be happening in their personal life?

–       What are they expecting from this meeting/project/encounter

To some degree, all business is show business. You need to be on when you enter a room and talk to people. It’s important that you bend to how they’re feeling, not expect the audience to just love you and hang in there.

I won’t apologize to Zooey for saying that I think her concert sucked. I paid around $200 to get us there. That doesn’t make up for an “off” night.

The Worst News

In most cases you don’t get a second chance. I won’t go see She & Him again, and I’ll discourage others. Listen to them on mp3? Hell, yes! I’ll tell you to do that all day long. But a concert? Save your money…..

Sorry to hear about your experience. Yeah, very much true that in most cases we may not get a second chance

In this day and age, the concert better be a good experience because, man, that’s where your bread is buttered. Sorry the concert wasn’t better but I love the analogy. I agree that you need to be “on” in meetings, and this is a good opportunity to self evaluate. I generally think I’m pretty good, but do know I have a tendency to tune out or multi-task if I don’t think the meeting provides good value. But that’s not a great way to present myself.

' src=

August 20, 2013 at 11:30 am

Good to know! I had considered seeing them in concert, but now I know I don’t need to!

August 21, 2013 at 6:45 pm

Well, hopefully Nick it was just a bad night and they’re better in other cities. Sometimes I also think that really left wing people head into Texas (outside of Austin) thinking it’s going to stink.

' src=

August 20, 2013 at 4:50 pm

I’m sorry Zooey was such a bad sport about everything. You definitely don’t go to a concert to hear the artists complain. That’s just inconsiderate. I like how you linked this back to meetings, though. I think it goes for interviews, too! You always have to be “on” and selling yourself to make sure you don’t leave a bad impression.

August 21, 2013 at 6:44 pm

Right on! Some of the best interviews I’ve had were actually times I had no clue I was being interviewed. I thought it was a meeting and halfway through the meeting the person asked me if I wanted a new opportunity. That was just based on how the conversation had headed to that point! Always. Be. On.

' src=

August 20, 2013 at 9:42 pm

Well, sometimes we just have to try things and find out the outcome later. Can’t bat 1.000 (in baseball parlance, “a thousand”) over the long run! Your bigger point is well taken. We can’t just show up like a zombie, without thinking about the other party and what will make the experience worthwhile for them. We’re on stage more often than we realize.

August 21, 2013 at 6:42 pm

Great point. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve come to a meeting and wondered “Does this person even ever ask themselves what I’m thinking about this situation?” Because if they did….they might have more than a clue how badly they stink!

August 21, 2013 at 10:30 pm

This is an ironic post because I just had this conversation with my office staff on Monday. My six year old daughter and I have kind of made it our tradition to get a pedicure the week before school starts (can two times be a tradition?). Anyway, the first time we went, the staff was magical to her. Her favorite was soaking her feet in the wax stuff. I secretly hate pedicures and have to will myself not to scream when someone touches my feet, but it wasn’t really my day. She loved it and talked about it for months afterwards.

This year, we went back to the same place and all the staff could do was bitch about a bridal party that showed up 30 minutes late. They rushed us through and didn’t soak my kiddo’s feet in the wax either. I work on appointments, so I totally understand how inconsiderate people can wreck your day. However, you can’t let that spill over to the people who are on time and spending their hard earned money for your product or service. We will not go back there, but it was a great learning experience, and I have tried much harder this week to treat every person like the diamonds they are to pay me money for shining bright lights in their eyes.

August 23, 2013 at 12:26 am

We had this discussion at dinner about your comment here and my wife’s workplace. The people working in the front don’t think about the experience of the people coming through the front door. They’re so wrapped up in their own little world that they don’t realize how much it’s crushing their reputation. I feel bad for your daughter after that experience.

' src=

August 25, 2013 at 11:57 am

OH man sorry they weren’t that good and all the trouble you went to see it. I guess you can ever predict those sort of things. I used to go see shows about every other night (mostly smaller, cheaper club shows) in my 20’s…now I’m lucky if I go even once a year…and I live in a place where every band tours. And I still prefer the small, club shows. Kid Rock is ridiculously popular in Detroit. I think he treats his fans there really well!

August 27, 2013 at 8:47 am

Have you seen his strategy with ticket prices? He lowers the price of everything at the venue and still scores bigger profit numbers than acts that charge full price.

Ellen DeGeneres Blasts Fans Who Got Her Cancelled From TV In Harsh Comments

Ellen took the first stop in her comedy tour to discuss how "hurtful" the public's reaction to the final season of of her talk show was.

  • Ellen DeGeneres admits the end of her show was hurtful, feeling bitter about the way things ended despite her massive success.
  • Workplace accusations, including racism and misconduct, ultimately led to the cancellation of her show after decades on air.
  • Despite the controversy, Ellen continues to earn millions through her other business ventures and has embarked on a comedy tour addressing the drama.

Ellen DeGeneres saw her T.V. career end on a low-note when the decades-long program was finally canceled amid toxic workplace claims. Ellen made it clear she’s still bitter about the situation in new comments about how hurtful the situation was.

DeGeneres launched her comedy tour on April 24, and she didn’t hesitate to mention the drama over her show , which ended in May 2022 following a string of accusations, including racism and sexual misconduct. Even some celebrities came forward to confirm Ellen’s poor character behind-the-scenes.

How Ellen DeGeneres Is Adding To Her Massive $500 Million Net Worth

Degeneres said the public’s reaction was “hurtful”.

Ellen DeGeneres

“I just hated the way the show ended,” she told the audience. “I love that show so much and I just hated that the last time people would see me is that way.”

Calling the situation “hurtful,” Ellen claims she was “kicked out of show business” over the controversy, saying people perceived has as “mean.”

“The 'be kind' girl wasn't kind. That was the headline,” she said of the media attention surrounding the situation. “I became this one-dimensional character who gave stuff away and danced up steps.”

DeGeneres acknowledges she’s in an industry where people either “idolize” or “hate you,” but she admits it’s hard to have thick skin, and she took the end of her talk show personally.

“Honestly, I’m making jokes about what happened to me, but it was devastating, really”, she confessed, “It was hurtful.”

Ellen’s Show Was Accused Of Sexual Misconduct And Racism

Ellen DeGeneres

The inappropriate workplace allegations against DeGeneres started brewing in 2020, though it took two years for her show to end. But even to this day, they’re concerning.

"When the cameras aren't rolling, [Ellen] treats staffers as if they are her peasants,” one source told Radar Online .

A similar sentiment has been echoed directly by former employees of The Ellen DeGeneres Show. T.V. writer Benjamin Siemon made a variety of accusations via X (formerly Twitter), saying, “[Ellen] has a ‘sensitive nose’, so everyone must chew gum from a bowl outside her office before talking to her, and if she thinks you smell you have to go home and shower."

Ellen has also been accused of not allowing people to talk to her when they’re backstage and in her presence.

Perhaps more disturbing, a July 2020 report claims that 1 current and 10 former employees on the show experience racism and intimidation tactics on the job. A second report claimed the 36 employees had experienced sexual misconduct , assault, and/or harassment.

Following the concerning claims, Warner Brothers initiated an investigation into the show’s workplace culture. Three executives were fired before the show’s cancelation, though DeGeneres was never directly called out by the network.

DeGeneres had one of the longest running (and most popular) T.V. shows for a time, with her self-titled program panning 19 seasons. While many thought DeGeneres was canceled after the scandal, her world tour seems to prove

The 34-year-old singer has been spending time with her Super Bowl winning boyfriend during a break from her 'Eras' tour and friends believe she will find it difficult to be separated from him when the European leg kicks off in two weeks.

A source told Us Weekly: "They have deepened their bond. It makes the prospect of her tour more challenging. She'll be sad."

However, Taylor and Travis, 34, are both realistic and support each other in their careers.

The insider said: "They support and respect [each other]. They have busy careers, so they understand those commitments, as difficult as it is.

"They're making the most of the time they have together."

Meanwhile, Taylor's latest album 'The Tortured Poets Department' seemingly has numerous references to her relationship with Kansas City Chiefs player Travis.

In a previous interview, Travis was asked who he would marry, kiss and kill between Taylor, Ariana Grande and Katy Perry.

And on 'So High School', Taylor sings: "Are you gonna marry, kiss, or kill me (Kill me) / It's just a game, but really (Really) / I'm bettin' on all three for us two (All three)."

On another track, the 'Karma' hitmaker referred to his side's Super Bowl success.

Taylor - who attended this year's Super Bowl in Las Vegas - sings on 'The Alchemy': "Shirts off, and your friends lift you up, over their heads / Beer stickin' to the floor, cheers chanted 'cause they said / 'There was no chance trying to be the greatest in the league' / Where's the trophy? He just comes, running over to me."

Former ‘Extra’ host and Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs dancer Tanika Ray recalls ‘horrific’ story: ‘I just knew to avoid him at all costs’

Thanks for contacting us. We've received your submission.

Media mavens are recalling Sean “Diddy” Combs’ questionable past.

On Tuesday, two popular media personalities, who covered Diddy for decades, recalled past incidents involving the disgraced music mogul.

Former “Extra” host Tanika Ray — who also was a backup dancer for Diddy in the ’90s — posted on social media about an alleged “horrific” experience that made her steer clear of the Bad Boy Records founder for years.

Sean Diddy Combs

She wrote of her experiences with Diddy, “I just knew to avoid him at all costs … Yes, I danced for him and kept my space. I interviewed him for his projects and kept my space. Nothing that is happening is surprising.”

Ray’s post came after the Grio’s creative director and former MSNBC host Touré — who has also previously worked for Rolling Stone and MTV News — shared a more specific story about a relative’s experience with Diddy.

During an interview with Joy Reid on Tuesday night, Touré recalled of the Bad Boy tycoon, “I know this man well enough to call him and say, ‘Hey, I need a favor.'”

Tanika Ray.

He added, “This might have been 10 or 12 years ago that I called him and said, ‘Hey, I have a family member, who I want you to hire them as an intern.’ And he said, ‘Yes.'”

But Touré then claimed his relative’s internship with the flashy music man “stopped abruptly like three or four months into it.”

“I spoke to my family member, like, ‘What happened?'” he told Reid.

“And they wouldn’t say … and years later, they finally came out — and this is a male — and said that Puff had said, ‘Come home. Stay the night with me or the internship is over.'”

Touré added that his relative told him of Diddy’s offer, “‘Absolutely not.’ And the internship ended.”

Diddy

His revelation sparked Ray to post her own video, in which she said, “Oh yeah, you know we all have stories … Seriously, we all have stories.”

“Mine is horrific and only five people know it, and I probably will never tell it,” she said.

“But since then, I’ve been like, ‘Yup.'”

Ray added that she’s “intimately aware that you tell your truth, and you become victimized over and over and over and over, and mind you, I’ve then interviewed him many times.”

Tanika Ray post

The “Mamaste with TanikaRay” podcast host said she may write a book one day, since she’s “been in Hollywood for 25 years, maybe longer, 30?”

But until then, she won’t divulge specifics because “it’s just so traumatizing.”

“Women just want to live every day and feel safe, and when we revisit … we live in a state of victimhood, and nobody wants to live there.”

Tanika Ray

She added, “So, for people who say, ‘Why didn’t you say something then?’ Because we just want to live. We want to be happy, and we really just want to forget the trauma. So, there’s that.”

Ray also wrote, “Now if someone needs to pile on my story, give me a call. But I think Cassie got it!!”

Cassie sued Combs in November, alleging decades-long physical abuse, rape and sex trafficking .

Combs vehemently denied the allegations but settled the suit within 24 hours.

Several other alleged victims have come forward with similar lawsuits and allegations , which Diddy has adamantly denied.

Sean "Diddy" Combs

Federal agents raided the “I’ll Be Missing You” rapper’s homes in Los Angeles and Miami this week as part of an ongoing sex-trafficking investigation.

His lawyer slammed the investigation as a “witch hunt” and insisted Combs is innocent.

“There has been no finding of criminal or civil liability with any of these allegations. Mr. Combs is innocent and will continue to fight every single day to clear his name,” his lawyer said.

Reps for Combs have not commented on Ray’s or Toure’s claims.

Humza Yousaf speaks at a press conference in front of a Scottish saltire flag

Humza Yousaf cancels Glasgow speech as speculation grows over political future

Allies of Scottish first minister say he ‘will come out fighting’ after Greens say they would back no confidence motion

Scotland’s first minister has cancelled a speech he was due to give in Glasgow amid speculation over his political future.

Humza Yousaf had been expected to speak about the labour strategy in an independent Scotland, participate in a Q&A session and take questions from the press on Friday.

The cancellation came after allies said he would “come out fighting” after a turbulent day that put his leadership in jeopardy after the Scottish Greens announced they would back a motion of no confidence against him at Holyrood.

Later on Friday morning, Scottish Labour piled on the pressure by tabling its own motion of no confidence in the Scottish government. Unlike the Conservative motion against Yousaf, if Labour was successful it would require the first minister and his ministers to resign.

The Scottish Labour leader, Anas Sarwar, told LBC: “I think it’s now a matter of when not if Humza Yousaf resigns as first minister, but I think it would be completely untenable for the SNP to presume they can impose another unelected first minister on Scotland.”

The Scottish National party’s Westminster leader, Stephen Flynn, previously said he had spoken to Yousaf after he blindsided supporters and opponents on Thursday morning by announcing he was axing the governing partnership with the Greens signed by Nicola Sturgeon in 2021.

Flynn told BBC Radio Scotland’s Good Morning Scotland programme that the first minister was “reflective, but he was also very clear to me that he’s going to come out fighting because he believes in what he says. He believes in delivering for the people for Scotland.”

The vote of no confidence, tabled by the Scottish Conservatives and expected to be debated next Wednesday or Thursday, could bring Yousaf to the brink of defeat – the SNP is two votes short of a majority at Holyrood and he would need to secure the backing of SNP rebels as well as a former SNP minister, Ash Regan, who defected to Alba last October in protest at the party’s stance on gender reform and lack of progress on independence.

Alba is led by the former first minister Alex Salmond, one of Yousaf’s strongest critics.

In a significant move, Michelle Thomson, who ran the SNP leadership campaign for Kate Forbes, who lost narrowly to Yousaf last March and has been critical of many of the Green-influenced policies, said she had “no doubt that every single member of the SNP group will be voting for Humza Yousaf”.

She told the same programme that she expected him to win the vote and “crack on” with the business of government, adding that she was “astounded” that the Greens and Labour were willing to support a Conservative motion.

Like Flynn, Thomson said she fully expected Yousaf to engage in dialogue with Regan and other parties – including the Greens – over the coming days.

After her furious response to Yousaf on Thursday, in which she denounced him as “selling out future generations” by walking away from the Bute House agreement, the Scottish Greens co-leader Lorna Slater told Good Morning Scotland that she was “more disappointed than angry”.

Slater accused the SNP of moving to the right “to appease their own conservative wing” and said she expected to see them roll back on equalities, progressive taxation and climate policies.

The Scottish Labour deputy leader, Jackie Baillie, confirmed the party would vote in support of the no confidence motion. She said: “This is not just about the Bute House agreement – we’ve had 17 years of the SNP, one year of Humza Yousaf, when they are simply not focused on the people’s priorities of taking Scotland forward.”

Regan said on Thursday evening that she had written to Yousaf with a list of demands relating to “progress made towards independence, on how he will defend the rights of women and children and a return to competent governance” in order to secure her support.

Flynn said on Friday morning that, in scrapping the partnership with the Greens, Yousaf had “reset the Scottish government’s focus on the priorities of the people of Scotland, on jobs, on the economy, on the NHS and trying to mitigate the damage of the cost of living crisis”.

This reflects the concerns of many MPs, who have told the Guardian that they feel the party’s priorities are not seen to be in tune with voters in this crucial election year, when the SNP is forecast to make significant losses to a resurgent Labour party.

According to accounts in People and Rolling Stone , she said she was “kicked out of show business” for a second time for “being mean.” (The first time was when she was shut out and her sitcom was canceled after she came out as gay, DeGeneres noted.)

She added, ruefully, There’s no mean people in show business.”

DeGeneres joked that she would soon be ostracized a third time for being “old, mean, and gay.”

The most damaging incident to her career came in July 2020, when BuzzFeed News ran a story based on anonymous quotes from her talk show staffers. They complained of being penalized for taking medical leave, instances of racial micro-aggressions, and fear of retribution for raising complaints.

DeGeneres said that the perceptions created by those allegations destroyed her television persona. She announced the show’s end in May 2021.

“The hate went on for a long time and I would try to avoid looking at the news,” she recalled. “The ‘be kind’ girl wasn’t kind. That was the headline.”

DeGeneres said people started to think of her as a “one-dimensional character who gave stuff away and danced up steps.”

She then added, per Rolling Stone, “I’m giving stuff away…and I danced, then I was mean and they didn’t like me again. It’s been such a toll on my ego and my self-esteem. There’s such extremes in this business, people either love you and idolize you or they hate you, and those people somehow are louder.”

“No… It’s hard to dance when you’re crying,” she said, noting that she “had a hard time” and “didn’t get out” amid the scandal. That “funk” started to damage her relationship with Portia de Rossi. “She was watching it happen to me… she went through it with me,” she said of her wife of 16 years.

“I’m making jokes about what happened to me, but it was devastating,” she said. “It took a long time for me to want to do anything again.”

DeGeneres said that she “hated the way the show ended” because she “loved that show so much.”

Still, DeGeneres is getting back up. She revealed during the show that she has a new Netflix special to be taped this fall.
