The Ultimate 4D3N Genting Highlands Itinerary – Updated For 2020

This is my 4D3N Genting Highlands itinerary ! There are plenty of fun things to do at this wonderful hill resort in Malaysia, and I feel that four days will be enough to complete most of the best activities.

12pm – Check In

2pm – Palsaik Korean BBQ

We ordered the  Exclusive 8 Color Set (RM168) , which serves 2 to 4 people. It comes with eight tantalising pork slices, each marinated with a different sauce. The set also includes a hot Korean stew.

The pork slices were extremely well-marinated and had a pleasant smoky flavour. It felt really good to chew on the tender and savoury meats in my mouth. This was the perfect way to start our Genting Highlands trip!

4pm – Skytropolis Indoor Theme Park

If you are looking for family-friendly rides, check out the “Royal Carousel”, a double-storey carousel beautifully adorned with intricate carved horses and chariots. I took this ride with my niece and she loved it.

The Void is a virtual reality centre located inside Skytropolis. It offers a variety of themed VR experiences such as Avengers, Star Wars, Wreck-it Ralph, Ghostbusters, and Nicodemus.

I went for the Star Wars VR experience and it was AMAZINGLY FUN. After putting on the VR headset, it felt like I was completely immersed in the Star Wars universe, fighting aliens, Stormtroopers, and even Darth Vader!

I don’t know about you, but this is a must-visit attraction for my family whenever we are in Genting Highlands. It’s always fun to engage in a little friendly competition and try to see who can top the score charts!

We paid around RM10 for one game. You can check out the  latest bowling rates on Genting’s website .

8pm – Dinner at LeNu

I ate the “Braised Pork Rib with Scallion Noodle (RM36.90)” and it was delicious! The noodles had great bite and the pork ribs were juicy, savoury and tender.

10pm – Studio K

The wife and I ended our night at Studio K , a family-friendly KTV joint located on level 3 of First World Plaza. We started feeling sleepy about midway through our singing session, probably because we had woke at 4am this morning for our long ride to Genting Highlands.

10am – Breakfast at Malaysian Food Street

We had a very satisfying meal here, eating delicious dim sum dishes like Fried Carrot Cake (RM10), Har Gao (RM7), Loh Mai Kai (RM9) and Siew Mai (RM7).

Jom Makan Street Food  is just beside Malaysian Food Street and offers halal dishes like Nasi Lemak, North Indian style curries and Nasi Ayam Claypot.

12pm – Chin Swee Caves Temple

After breakfast, we took the Awana Skyway Cable Car at SkyAvenue for one stop down the hill to Chin Swee Caves Temple . During the ride, we enjoyed wonderful views of the lush rainforest around us.

My whole family had a very enjoyable time at this tranquil temple complex! It was cool to see the towering pagoda, beautiful temples, large statues, and variety of Chinese mythology sculptures. The surrounding mountain views were fantastic too.

Note that this is a one-way ticket , so remember to book the return journey separately if you plan on returning to SkyAvenue afterwards. The ticket has no destination restrictions so you can alight or board at any of the stations.

We took the standard gondola (RM9 one way). If you are willing to spend more, you can take the glass-floor gondola (RM18 one way) instead.

Chin Swee Caves Temple Location: Chin Swee Cable Car Station Opening Hours: Daily 9am to 6pm

2pm – Lunch at Restoran Chuan Kie (全记小菜馆)

From the cable car station pick up point, we took a eight-minute grab ride to Restoran Chuan Kie (全记小菜馆) in Gohtong Jaya.

This famous Chinese restaurant is known for serving delicious zi char dishes at affordable prices. We had a super satisfying lunch here!

Some of our favourite dishes include the Special Crispy Baked Pork (RM15), the Hot Plate Beancurd (RM13) and Salted Vegetables Beancurd Soup (RM8).

6pm – Genting Highlands Premium Outlets

This open-air outlet mall beside Awana cable car station is home to over 150 designer and brand outlets.

Personally, I feel that this a good place to shop for accessible luxury and mid-market brand products at decent prices.

It is also family-friendly with many empty public spaces, a decent playground, a large toy shop, and spacious restaurants.

8pm – Dinner at Beauty In The Pot

Beauty In The Pot is a Singapore Chinese hotpot restaurant located at SkyAvenue. It is known for its signature Beauty Collagen Broth.

If you are a hotpot fan, this restaurant is a must-visit! Make sure you order the “Signature Beauty Collagen Broth (Scallop & Pork Bone Soup)”. A single pot costs RM32, while a quarter pot starts from RM10 each.

This restaurant is extremely popular so make sure you go early to get a queue number, or call in advance to make reservations. Or you can also visit late at night for supper, since the restaurant opens daily till 2am (last order at 1.15am).

10pm – Redtail by Zouk

We had the  Original Lobster Roll (RM138) , which was delicious! The lobster meat was fresh and juicy, and went perfectly with the mayonnaise sauce and warm buttered bun.

Make sure you go early because this restaurant is really popular at the moment and it does not accept reservations.

12pm – Shop at SkyAvenue

I saw plenty of luxury boutiques such as Chanel, Coach, Furla, Dior etc. There are also many mass-market brands like Addidas, Uniqlo, Under Armour, and G2000. Beauty and wellness shops include Sephora, Bath and Bodyworks, The Body Shop, etc.

Compared to Singapore, the prices are generally slightly cheaper.

While walking around the mall, we came across SkySymphony , an impressive free light show that runs daily at the atrium on the first floor of SkyAvenue.

I was spellbound by the beautiful show which makes use of 1,001 winch balls suspended from the four-storey high ceiling.

The show runs once every hour between 10am and 12am.

2pm – Lunch at Marrybrown

Ever since I first tried the fried chicken here a few years ago, I will always have a craving for it whenever I go back to Genting Highlands.

This is because the fried chicken just tastes SO good! I love the crispy fried skin, the moist and tender chicken meat, and the fragrant meaty scent. I always feel super satisfied after this simple fast food meal.

4pm – Ripley’s Adventureland

The Jungle Gym will help your children exhaust their endless energy with ball pit, slides, crawling tunnels, trampoline, and more.

Eagle Landing Zipline is an exhilarating 200 metres zip-line that starts from level 4 of SkyAvenue and ends in Skytropolis Funland. However, you may want to note that there was a malfunction in April 2019 .

6pm – Healing Touch

The wife and I went for a one hour body massage (RM188) before dinner, and it was an amazing experience!

Everything was on point. First the staff washed our legs with warm water. Then, we had a heavenly body massage in a private room. My masseuse even placed a heated blanket on my body halfway during the massage because I was feeling a little cold. After the massage, we were served with hot ginger tea.

There is another outlet located at First World Hotel lobby, but it is significantly smaller and the ambience is not as serene.

8pm – Dinner at High Line

High Line Location: Level 4 (T2C-18-23), SkyAvenue Opening Hours: Daily 12pm to 1am

10pm – Movie

We caught the action-packed martial arts film “Master Z: Ip Man Legacy”. The plush seats were really comfortable and could even shift into a reclining position! (As for the movie, it was decent but a little violent.)

Standard seats cost RM16 per person, which is significantly cheaper than Singapore. There are IMAX experience and gold class seats too.

12am – SkyCasino

10am – SnowWorld

The highlight of the centre is the Toboggan slide, which is fun for both adults and children alike.

Remember to take your own photos because SnowWorld charges a premium for their photo taking services.

This is your last chance to enjoy some cold temperatures before returning to the tropical heat of Singapore!

2D1N Genting Highland Tour Package

For decades, Genting Highlands remains one of Malaysia’s most popular destinations. DAY 1: GENTING HIGHLANDS ENROUTE BATU CAVES Meet and Greet at KL Airport, or pick up from KL City hotel and proceed to Genting Highlands with en route Batu Caves. A limestone outcrop located just north of Kuala Lumpur, Batu Caves has three main caves featuring temples and Hindu shrines. It's main attraction is the large statue of the Hindu God at the entrance, besides a steep 272 climb its steps to view finally the stunning skyline of the city centre. Monkeys frolic around the cave, and it is a popular spot for rock climbing enthusiasts. Paintings and scenes of Hindu Gods can also be seen in the Ramayana Cave. Upon arrival at Genting, you may ride the Genting Cable Car.Genting, or also known as Resorts World Genting has an outdoor and an indoor theme park that offer tourists to enjoy fun-filled moments in the City of Entertainment. You may enjoy Genting SnowWorld as well. After that, transfer to hotel for check in and Free program. Overnight in Genting Highland. The outdoor theme park is closed due to maintenance works for few years *One way Skywalk Cable Car fee is included **Theme park entrance fee is not included

Reach Kuala Lumpur in the morning and proceed for a half day City Tour of Kuala Lumpur which includes Photo Stop at KingsPalace, China Town, Notional Monument, National Museum, National Mosque, Shopping Stop, Independences Square OR Anglican Church, sultan Abdul Samad building, Twin Tower & Batu Caves.Latter check in at hotel. Day 3 Kuala Lumpur – Genting Highlands

Breakfast at your hotel, you will be met and transfer to Genting Highlands by Cable car. 24-hour entertainment resort with cool climate all year round. Return back to Kuala Lumpur.

Day 4 Kuala Lumpur - Singapore – Night Safari

Morning after breakfast proceed to Singapore, by Coach, Welcome to Singapore. On arrival at theKuala Lumpur, met & transfer to hotel. Evening day is free for leisure activities, dinner & overnight stay atKuala Lumpur On arrival Singapore, Pick up and transfer to Hotel, at evening Night Safari, Dinner & Overnight stay at Hotel, Singapore.

Day 5 Sightseeing – Half Day Tour & Singapore

After breakfast, proceed for the city tour of Singapore. Explore the city by driving round the Civic district, passing by the Padang, Cricket Club, Parliament house, Supreme Court and the City Hall. Also stop at the Merlion Park and enjoy the impressive views of the Marina Bay. Also do not miss the picture taking opportunity with the Merlion–a mythological creature. Visit the Thian Hock Keng Temple, one of the Oldest Buddhist temples. Proceed to the National Orchid Gardens, located within Singapore Botanic Gardens. Then stop at the Little India where you can buy spices, joss and jasmine. Overnight stay in Singapore.

Day 6 Singapore – Universal Studio Full Day Trip

After breakfast Proceed to Universal Studio full day activity with 12 SGD Lunch Coupon. Enjoy shopping at Mustafa Market in the nearby area. Dinner & overnight stay at hotel in Singapore.

Day 7 Singapore Sentosa Island - Kolkata

After breakfast at hotel proceed for Sentosa Island. After lunch proceed to Mount Faber by coach and from there; get onto the cable car to reach Sentosa. There, see the Trick Eye Museum, Madame Tussauds, Butterfly Park & Insect Garden, S.E.A. Aquarium & Wings of Time light & Sound Show.

Return back to hotel have dinner and drop at Changi Airport to catch early morning flight for Kolkata.

• The Covid-19 outbreak destroyed the cruise ship company Genting Hong Kong (formerly known as Star Cruises), and Malaysian billionaire Lim Kok Thay is closing the cruise line and starting a new one from Singapore.
• 1,856 people may be accommodated on the 75,338 gross ton cruise ship Resorts World One. The ship was previously used as SuperStar Virgo for Star Cruises and as Explorer Dream for Dream Cruises.
• Resorts World Cruises has revealed that it has purchased the Explorer Dream, a former Dream Cruises ship. After being renamed as Resorts World One, the ship will begin two-week cruises from Singapore and then, on March 10, 2023, two- and three-night cruises from Hong Kong.
• Genting Dream is the first ship constructed under Dream Cruises, a luxury cruise line operated by Genting Hong Kong. Dream Cruises was introduced in November 2015, making it the first brand in Asia to provide premium cruise services. Based in Hong Kong, Genting Hong Kong is a multinational leisure, entertainment, and hospitality corporation.
• According to Michael Goh, the president and head of international sales at Resorts World Cruises, who was quoted by Bloomberg during a media event, the company will initially operate just one ship, Genting Dream, offering cruise to nowhere services from Singapore. Goh served as president of Dream Cruises before it was one of the firms that went bankrupt due to the insolvency of its German shipbuilding arm, MV Werften, and parent company Genting Hong Kong's inability to acquire finance.

Malaysia might add a casino to boost troubled $100 billion mega-development Forest City

• Malaysia may add a casino to Forest City, a mega-development that has turned into a ghost town.
• The casino, which would be the second in the country, could rejuvenate the struggling property.
• The move may attract Singapore tourists, who pay a daily tax to gamble at home.

Malaysia's Forest City mega-development started with big ambitions and big money.

Announced in 2006, the luxury housing project in the south — easily accessible from Singapore — would house 700,000 people and feature a waterpark and hotels. The whole project cost its developers $100 billion.

But, eight years after construction began, only a few thousand people live there. The project has turned into a ghost town — and a major liability for its developer, which is facing sizable financial issues elsewhere.

Now, Malaysia is in talks with several high-profile investors to add a casino to Forest City, people familiar with the matter told Bloomberg on Wednesday.

The southeast nation's Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim met with the heads of a Malaysian property development firm and a resort company at Forest City last week. A representative of Malyasia's billionaire king, Ibrahim Iskandar, also attended, the people told Bloomberg.

King Ibrahim owns more than 20% of Forest City as part of a joint venture with Chinese real estate developer Country Garden, Bloomberg reported. The king took the throne in January for his five-year term and said last month he is ready to "begin my real way of ruling." The other partner, Country Garden, is facing significant financial issues from China's floundering property market and had nearly $200 billion in liabilities  at the end of last June.

The two tycoons who met with the prime minister last week own some of Malaysia's most prominent businesses. One of the companies is Genting Group, a resort and theme park operator that owns Malaysia's only casino, located in a central Malaysian hill town. Genting operates other casinos in Singapore, the US, and the UK. The other, Berjaya Corp., runs hotels and develops properties, among other businesses.

The casino talks are in early stages and it is unclear if Prime Minister Anwar will allow such a business. Malaysia has a Muslim-majority population and those following Islam are prohibited from gambling.

Forest City did not immediately respond to BI's request for comment.

Expensive, empty apartments

A casino — which would only be the second in Malaysia — could help struggling Forest City.

While advertised as a "popular short-haul tourist destination," the complex, which includes apartments, hotels, a waterpark, and a mall, only sees a few dozen visitors each day, Business Insider reported in April. Those who do come are typically on a budget and don't spend much.

As of last year, only about 15% of the planned property had been completed, local media reported.

Most apartments look like they've never been lived in, a BI reporter who visited earlier this year observed. They're almost twice the price of other apartments in the city, and wealthy people prefer to buy single-family homes, BI reported in April .

A new casino could attract tourists from Singapore. Singapore's government disincentivizes gambling by taxing residents 150 Singapore dollars , or $110, to enter local casinos. Singapore is connected by a one-kilometer bridge to the state of Johor, where Forest City is.

Cities around the world are similarly looking to add casinos to boost tourism.

The United Arab Emirates, another majority-Muslim country, is betting big on gambling. Earlier this year, it launched a federal-level gaming authority, and plans are in place to create an " Arabian Strip ," an Emirati version of the Las Vegas Strip of hotels and casinos on the island of Al Marjan.

New York City is also looking to cash in. In April last year, the state government authorized up to three casino licenses for downstate New York, which includes the city and surrounding counties.
