MIAMI  ( March 19, 2021)  –  Celebrity Cruises   announced its long-anticipated return to cruising today, as company President and CEO, Lisa Lutoff-Perlo confirmed that the revolutionized  Celebrity Millennium ,  the ship at the forefront of the fleet’s $500 million modernization program and featuring the exclusive open-air hideaway The Retreat ® , will homeport in the tropical paradise of St. Maarten beginning June 5.

Beginning March 25, eager travelers can turn their vacation dreams into a dream vacation when booking opens for new seven-night itineraries departing through August to some of the best-loved Caribbean island destinations. The ship will sail with vaccinated crew and will be available to vaccinated adult guests and children under the age of 18 with a negative test result within 72 hours of embarkation.

Can you clarify if passengers need to be vaccinated or does a negative COVID-19 test suffice? If they require a vaccination, I definitely won’t be sailing on this. I don’t see how they can run a profitable cruse if being fully vaccinated is a requirement because the majority of those that want to get vaccinated probably won’t be yet by that time, and there are many that are either waiting it out or have decided not to get vaccinated at all due to legitimate long-term health concerns.

Celebrity Cruises’ newest ship, named Celebrity Ascent, is currently doing trial runs in the ocean as it gets ready to set sail. This ship is the fourth one in the Edge class and it took two years to build at a shipyard in Saint-Nazaire, France. Its very first trip will start on December 3, 2023, for a 7-night cruise in the Eastern Caribbean that leaves from Port Everglades.

During the cruise, the ship will stop at places like St. Maarten , St. Thomas, Puerto Plata, and the Dominican Republic. Onboard, there will be 30 places to eat and relax, and different types of rooms to choose from, including AquaClass, ConciergeClass, Edge staterooms, and a luxurious accommodation place called The Retreat.

Depends what you want to see . St Maarten has a lovely port area with bars and shops and you hcan take a ferry for about $10 return to the Dutch side with its lovely beach and bars and shops.

As someone suggested on your other posts Whatsinport site is a great source of info so maybe do some research there yourself first.

Sorry to be bit negative, but personal observation having recently been on the island, is that it has never fully recovered from hurricanes. It is a bit run down and you will see buildings still waiting to be rebuilt.. There are nice beaches, Orient Bay perhaps the best. There is a "Parrot Village' and a small zip line. Other than that there is shopping which I found not all that exciting and a bit overpriced. Just my opinion.

Ft Lauderdale is a city of islands held together by an intricate web of canals, rivers, bays and waterways hundreds of miles long. Needless to say, boating is a favorite city pastime, whether zooming along on a speedboat, enjoying a fishing charter, or cruising the coastline by yacht. Beautiful homes of every size and style make up the bulk of this primarily residential area. By the beach, a leisurly stroll can be taken along the new landscaping wavewall design of the beachfront promenade. But this city is anything but sedate. Once a spring break hot spot, the town still has an energetic and colorful nightlife. Nearby, charming Laudrdale-By-the-Sea is home to one of the only living coral reefs in the US accesible from shore. Las Olas Boulevard, a shoppers paradise, is the chic new shopping and trendy dining area of downtown. If sports are more your inclination, dozens of golf courses and hundreds of public parks allow you to absorb the great Florida outdoors. Cultural arts are also popular. Water taxis bring theater-goers from throughout the city to the Performing Arts Center on the water.

Puerto Plata

Puerto Plata is for those seeking an attractively-priced Rest and relax vacation with the option of lots of places to visit. Playa Dorada concentrates the largest number of hotel rooms in the North sharing a gold sand beach and the Playa Dorada Golf Course, an 18 hole course. Meet guests from other hotels during evening outings at the casinos and night spots which are open to all guests. Choose Cabarete if you love windsurfing. Cabarete is famous for having excellent conditions for the sport. The city's reputation as the shopping mecca of the Caribbean draws visitors from all over the region and around the world. A mountainous island, St. Thomas offers stunning vistas in almost every direction. While Charlotte Amalie is full of energy, St. Thomas also provides natural wonders such as the indescribably beautiful Magens Bay and stunning views of the Caribbean from 1,500 feet above sea level. Philipsburg

Philipsburg is the capital of St. Maarten, the Dutch side of the Caribbean island St. Maarten. Beachfront bars line the boardwalk along Great Bay. Voorstraat, or Front Street, has duty-free shops and casinos. The St. Maarten Zoo is home to parrots, monkeys and a playground. St. Maarten Museum displays artifacts from the indigenous Arawak people. The ruins of 17th-century Fort Amsterdam stand on a nearby peninsula.
