2013’s Hottest Tours

By Rolling Stone

Rolling Stone

There's no shortage of big names hitting the road this year, from Lady Gaga to the Who to Taylor Swift. The one thing that's missing from the 2013 tour schedule? A truly massive superstar who can automatically sell out stadiums and arenas everywhere, like U2 or Madonna. Then again, that could change as soon as the Rolling Stones tour dates we're all waiting for come through. Read on for our guide to 2013's 18 biggest tours.

By Steve Knopper

Lady Gaga

Through March 20th

Gaga grossed more than $161 million last year on her European tour, according to Pollstar , and she'll add to that total with a final surge in North America. It's perfect timing to set up her next album, ARTPOP – assuming she actually releases it this year as expected. Her manager, Troy Carter, wouldn't reveal any surprises beyond the dancers, multiple costume changes and alien-invasion storylines we've come to know. "We're at the home stretch," he tells RS.

The Who

January 28th-February 26th

The Who returned to arenas last fall in high style, playing their 1973 rock opera Quadrophenia straight through without any guests – unless you count late members John Entwistle and Keith Moon, who both appeared in video segments. If you didn't catch that tour, you'll have another chance when Roger Daltrey and Pete Townshend keep it going with another leg in the new year.

Eric Clapton

Eric Clapton

March 14th-April 13th

After grossing more than $85 million on his 2010-2011 worldwide run, Slowhand returns to the U.S. this year with an arena tour featuring his Crossroads Guitar Festival as the grand finale. The killer lineup for the festival at New York's Madison Square Garden includes old bluesmen like B.B. King, Buddy Guy and the Allman Brothers Band as well as young hotshots from John Mayer to Gary Clark Jr. (who tore the festival up last time around).

Taylor Swift

Taylor Swift

March 13th-September 21st

Swift embraced pop on Red , which has stayed near the top of the charts since it came out last October, but her approach to touring remains pure country. Unlike many other stars, who dole out fragments of tours and add to them later, Swift quickly went all-in – building on her top-grossing (but reasonably priced) tours of recent years with a run that lasts all the way through fall 2013.

Fleetwood Mac

Fleetwood Mac

April 4th-June 7th

Rumours -era bandmates Stevie Nicks, Lindsey Buckingham, Mick Fleetwood and John McVie recently recorded two new tracks together, so there's a fair chance you'll hear some new material in between all the hits on their first tour since 2009. But don't hold your breath for a full new album.

pink

February 13th-March 28th

In a year jammed with huge singles, Pink's 2012 single "Blow Me (One Last Kiss)" and album The Truth About Love were often ignored. The veteran pop star will try to make up for it with this brief U.S. arena run before she shifts to Europe.

Maroon 5

February 13th-April 6th

Before frontman Adam Levine became a star on NBC's The Voice in 2011, Maroon 5 struggled to fill large venues – but after the show boosted singles like "Moves Like Jagger" and "Payphone," the band has become a reliable arena act.

Dave Matthews Band

Dave Matthews Band

Dates unknown

The best-selling touring act of the 2000s hasn't yet announced dates for this year, unless you count bassist Stefan Lessard's side project Yukon Kornelius. But Dave and the boys haven't not said they're touring, like they did a couple of years back, so it's safe to assume another summer amphitheatre run is in the works.

Leonard Cohen

Leonard Cohen

March 2nd-April 20th

At 78, Cohen is more spontaneous and warm than just about any of his folk or rock contemporaries – wearing a snappy suit and fedora, reciting poems, giving short speeches and doling out classics as well as tunes from last year's Old Ideas . Drink whenever the Webb sisters, Cohen's pristine backup vocalists, do a backflip.

Mumford & Sons

Mumford & Sons

February 5th-17th

Following up on the 10 million Spotify streams of last year's Babel and a continuing new-Americana craze that seems to be sweeping Europe as well as North America, Mumford will briefly play arenas this spring before heading to Spain, France and Luxembourg. There's a mysterious schedule gap from April to July, so don't be surprised if the tour expands into summer.

Pearl Jam

Rumors have been circulating for months that Pearl Jam will be back on the road in 2013, possibly with fellow grunge-era graduates Soundgarden. All we know for sure at this point is the band is playing three festival dates in Brazil, Argentina and Chile in March and April.

Rolling Stones

Rolling Stones

The year's biggest will-they-or-won't-they tour story has yet to play out, although the Stones have said they're considering several offers after doing five 50th-anniversary shows last month in London, Brooklyn and Newark, New Jersey. "Really, all you're going to have to do is wait for an announcement," Keith Richards recently told RS with a laugh.

One Direction

One Direction

June 13th-August 9th

One Direction's summer run of amphitheatres and arenas – many of the dates sold out last year, when their popularity was first exploding – seems designed to give hunky Harry, Zayn and the other what's-their-names flexibility to add more shows if hordes of screaming young fans make them necessary.

Rihanna

March 8th-May 1st

Rihanna is one of the few survivors of the Bad Summer of 2010, in which the sputtering economy and high ticket prices forced her (and many others) to cancel dates and offer last-minute discounts. This year is different: She's back to being one of the world's biggest pop stars, having sold almost 1.4 million copies of her new single "Diamonds" during the holiday season alone.

Paul McCartney

Paul McCartney

Macca has hinted at a new album this year, and his late-2012 tour dates (not to mention his Hurricane Sandy telethon appearance in December) indicate the 70-year-old and his band are ready for action. Nothing's official yet, but don't expect Nirvana.

Justin Bieber

Justin Bieber

Through January 27th, June 22nd-August 10th

Bieber's recording career took a hit in 2012 after his album Believe sold disappointingly few copies compared to contemporaries such as One Direction and Taylor Swift, and he received zero Grammy Awards nominations. He'll boost his buzz by playing tons of arena dates all year – in the U.S., then Europe, then back again.

No Doubt

This tour, most likely for summer, is still in the rumor stages, but Gwen Stefani let confirmation slip during a recent Jimmy Kimmel Live! appearance.

Bob Seger

February 27th-April 2nd

Seger, 67, has said he won't be touring much longer, so take advantage while you can. You'll have lots of chances this year – the run of 11 U.S. and Canada dates he announced in early January is just the first leg of his "Rock and Roll Never Forgets" tour.

Best Rock Tours of 2013

Hey hey, my my, our countdown of the Best Rock Tours of 2013 proves that rock 'n' roll will never die. Once again, some of the biggest names in music history found ways to deliver new thrills for their fans. Several invited former bandmates back for special appearances, and many trotted out rarely heard songs. A couple of particularly generous legends squeezed themselves into intimate venues they've long since outgrown saleswise, and one even built themselves a giant mechanical monster -- all in a quest to make you forget you still had to go back to work the next day. So here they are: the Best Rock Tours of 2013:

There's a lot of great bands that could have earned this spot on our Best Rock Tours of 2013 instead of Kiss, who, after all, played relatively few shows in the U.S. this year. But did any of them add a gigantic, movable, fire-breathing spider to their stage set? No? OK then -- case closed!

Sammy Hagar

To celebrate his 40th anniversary in the rock game, the Red Rocker assembled a rotating cast of characters from his previous (and current) bands -- including Joe Satriani , Michael Anthony and the surviving members of Montrose -- to take audiences on a chronological tour of his career each night.

Ted Nugent / Styx / REO Speedwagon

Apparently this trio of '70s classic-rock titans from the heartland of America had so much fun on their 2012 tour together that they decided to do it all over again this year. That's it -- no gimmicks, no themes, not really even any new records to promote. In other words, a perfect night out!

Robert Plant

While Jimmy Page sat anxiously by the phone, his ever-restless former bandmate hit the road with his umpteenth new band. This time out, Plant retooled his Strange Sensations group from the 'Mighty Rearranger' and 'Dreamland' albums. This allowed him to add new African influences to another well-chosen selection of solo tracks, Led Zeppelin classics and cover songs.

Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers

Never afraid to fix something that's only broken in his eyes, Petty eschewed the easy money of another by-the-numbers "greatest hits" tour in favor of a set list that explored lesser-known numbers from his vast catalog. Lucky fans in New York and L.A. also got to enjoy multiple-night stands in smaller venues -- well, except for the night the fire marshal shut the joint down .

Black Sabbath

Hard to believe It's been more than two years since Black Sabbath made their big reunion announcement . For a while there, it looked like the whole thing would be a nonstarter, between Bill Ward's boycott and Tony Iommi's lymphoma diagnosis . Luckily, Iommi kicked cancer's ass, the group made a pretty damn good new album  and the promotional trek that followed was easily worthy of a spot on our Best Rock Tours of 2013 list.

Paul McCartney

Do we really have to justify this one? Is there anybody who went to one of these shows that didn't enjoy seeing the former Beatle play nearly 40 of the best songs in rock history with an incredibly tight and talented band? Or who wouldn't trade anything short of a family member for the opportunity to do so?

Brian Wilson / Jeff Beck

This may seem like an unlikely pairing at first, until you realize the trait these two music icons have in common: the near-fanatical pursuit of the perfect sounds they hear in their heads. Really, it's a miracle they ever made it past sound check on any given night. But they did, not only performing fantastic sets separately but also joining forces for several songs, including Beach Boys classics like 'Our Prayer.'

Just like Sammy Hagar (See No. 9 on our Best Rock Tours of 2013 list), the Eagles more or less arranged the set list for their current tour chronologically . Also much like Hagar, they invited a former bandmate back into the fold -- in this case, guitarist Bernie Leadon . Makes you wish they'd taken it a step further and ripped through 'I Can't Drive 55 ' just one time, doesn't it?

Rolling Stones

Age ain't nothing but a number, and after five straight decades together, the Rolling Stones were still the hottest (and yes, probably most expensive) ticket in the land this summer. The group made headlines at just about every show. To mark their big anniversary, they welcomed Mick Taylo r and Bill Wyman back to the stage, dug out some rarely heard songs and invited a gaggle of guest stars from all across the musical spectrum to join in as well.

Billboard Declares Top 25 Earning Music Tours of 2013 [Full List]

Brad Bershad

by Brad Bershad

Published december 13, 2013.

bon-jovi-Coreografia-bwct-milano-2013

Billboard listed the top 25 money making tours from 2013 today, and declared hair metal band Bon Jovi to be the top earner. The band from New Jersey took top spot, grossing over $200 million without founding lead guitar player Richie Sambora.

In their article The Year In Touring 2013: Behind The Numbers , Billboard reported that 2013 was actually a record setting year for the touring concert industry, since they started keeping track in 2009:

2013 Boxscore reports soared to a record level of $4.8 billion in gross ticket sales worldwide. That's up nearly 30% from last year and up 9% over the biggest Boxscore year ever—2009—the year before the touring bubble burst after a decade of growth... ... In fact, with all the non-reporting tours, concerts, events, soft-ticket shows, casinos, private concerts and international plays, the touring industry is surely at its highest level ever, with fans worldwide ponying up a conservative Billboard estimate of more than $15 billion annually for the in-the-moment experience that only live performance can offer.

The last is dominated by American pop and rock acts, with a few English acts in there as well. One of the biggest surprises may be Dutch violin player André Rieu and country artist Jason Aldean. Check out the full list below, and check out the full article at Billboard.com .

Must See: Top 25 Tours Of 2013

They came. They toured. They conquered.

Along with a number of monumental albums, 2013 also brought with it ample opportunities for music lovers to see their favourite acts live on stage!

Now, Billboard have published the ‘ Top 25 Tours of 2013 ‘, listing the highest earning stage shows to be launched between November 14th 2012 to November 12th 2013.

Who came out on top?

Find out below…

Peep the list in full here!

While congratulations must be extended to every act on this list, it’d be wrong of us not to praise Rihanna and Beyonce for the success they’ve enjoyed on the road this year, and the flag they continue to fly for women of colour in Pop’s arena.

For, while it isn’t always obvious, the ladies join Nicki Minaj in being the only ‘ethnic’ belles whose reach expands far further than the world of ‘Urban’, pulling in audiences from all walks of life with every venture they launch.

Commendable, as its skill not all can say they’ve mastered.

Your thoughts?

Yessss Bey & Rih two beautiful black women SLAYING in a sea of pop and rock stars. I’m so proud of them.

' src=

Thank you TGJ for the non biased critique on Bey & Rih…

They’re both two beautiful black women and they are the only black woman out now, along with Nicki minaj and Alicia keys, who actually generate global interest

love u bey & rih.

f*** all the haters who hate on them on this site.

' src=

Bon Jovi Ain’t to be f***** with lol Rhinna who? beyonce who?….. lol

' src=

I cant believe bey & rih are the only black people on the list!!!

Smh. I cannot with the music industry.

Congrats Girls!!!!!!!

BEY & RIH = ICONS.

' src=

LOL LOL EGG on ur face……AFter all the beyonce hype, look who the real winner is? Bet u are seeting. How is beyonce gonna stop rih now? Look at what she is doing at 25, even though u all said she could never top 100 mill, r she cannot sing, she is one hit wonder, who will be ended by beyonce, rita ora, katy perry, gaga and miley cyrus. BUT LOOK WHO IS ON TOP.

Also UNA IS 10TH biggest selling LP of 2013, selling 1.2 in the USA ALONE. In fact song she dropped from UNA has topped the end of year BB chart.

BUT, BUT, BUT……I thought she was over and was gonna get her wig snatched? And guess what sam? SHE JUST SHOT HER 3RD AMERICAN VOGUE COVER LAST NIGHT. SHE is on course to have the most AMERICAN VOGUE COVERS IN HISTORY. American born beyonce only has 2. POOOR DAT.

SHE GOES TO BRAZIL TO SHOO FOR BRAZIL VOGUE; she has shot for australia vogue. Then her song with Shakira comes in JAN 14TH. MONTSER VIDEO COMES NEXT WEEK; it already number1.

F*** U AND BEYONCE, WHO WILL FLOP WHEN THE NOVELTY WEARS OFF.

' src=

MADONNA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

16 SHOWS = $70+ MILLION!!!!!!!

THE F****** QUEEN.

Congrats Beyonce and Rihanna. MWAH.

David bowie was the 1st artist to drop and allbum out the blue. Then came Kanye and Jay, now bey. It did not really work for bowie, kanye or jay. Wont work for bey either. Novelty wears off.

' src=

YASSSS Queen Bey.. Wait until all of her dates are added!

TOO MUCH SLAYAGE FOR MY SOUL TO HANDLE IN ONE DAY CHILE KIII

' src=

Congratulation to Rihicon & Beyonce they’re both black so i like that !

JUST SEEN THE TEASER FOR TEH MONSTER VIDEO0, HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAOMGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG IT IS MOVIE, RIH IS ERVING SOME basic instict meets silence of the lamb. She looks liek a movie star. IT SHTS AND POOPS ON ALL 17 BEY VIDEOS. RIH WILL GET MORE ACTING WORK NOW. SHE IS REALLY SERVING.

YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS AND LUCIEN, EM AND RIH’S BOSS PUT OUT, JUST TO LET YOU KNOW BEYONCE IS OVER.

' src=

To be honest, P!nk deserves to be #1 on this list, her tour is the best on that list.

Non of the people on that list are touching P!nk on the stage, her shows are Magic, Magnificent, Fantastic, Artistic and Beautiful.

She is the second best performer EVER after Michael Jackson.

Congrats to RihICONna, she did it.

YASSSS Queen Bey.. Wait until all of her dates are added! #SLAY TOO MUCH SLAYAGE FOR MY SOUL TO HANDLE IN ONE DAY CHILE KIII

Cant u f****** read, this is her numbers for 2012 to 2013. That is her window, anything she does after nov 2013, bounces on 2014, but no doubt some rock band will snact her wig in 2014. So she will not have the biggest tour if 2013 or 14. Love how madonna is slaying at her age. Rih has picked right role model. Cannot wait for Rih feat madonna.

“LOL LOL EGG on ur face……AFter all the beyonce hype, look who the real winner is? Bet u are seeting. How is beyonce gonna stop rih now?”

No honey the egg is on your face… If Beyonce would have had 89 dates of her tour added, she would have easy surpassed Rihanna honey kiiii

59 dates 104 mill>>>> 87 dates>137 mill

Sorry Madonna fans but not even the Queen herself is touching P!nk on the stage, and I love her MADGesty.

“Non of the people on that list are touching P!nk on the stage, her shows are Magic, Magnificent, Fantastic, Artistic and Beautiful.”

Chile DIE! Pink is alright.. seeing her swing from the ceiling is old now. 😉

' src=

Proud of these two black women Always slaying.

RIH LOOKS LIKE A MOVIE STAR IN THE MONSTER VIDEO……SHE IS AN ACTOR. BEYONC E LOOKS LIKE A FAT OLD S*** IN HER NEW VIDEOS. THERE IS NO WAY SHE WILL GET ANYMORE WORK IN HOLLYWOOD. RIH 2 MOVIES COMING OUT.

You’re too ghetto to know what art is. Have several.

LOL LOL EGG on ur face……AFter all the beyonce hype, look who the real winner is? Bet u are seeting. How is beyonce gonna stop rih now?” No honey the egg is on your face… If Beyonce would have had 89 dates of her tour added, she would have easy surpassed Rihanna honey kiiii 59 dates 104 mill>>>> 87 dates>137 mill

BUT…..SHE DID NOT. THE END.

' src=

… how did Madonna make the list ? She hasn’t had any show this year.

BitchBird You’re too ignorant to know that not every black person that uses a curse word, or that stans for Bey, is ghetto!! I have NEVER lived in a ghetto a day in my life!

You would fit in more than i would, you tar black bxtch!

LADY GAGA CAN SAVE ARTPOP; APPLAUSE PROVES SHE HAS LONGEVITY. ALL SHE NEEDS TO DROP G.U.Y , SEXX DREAMS AND GYPSEY/ ARTRAVE HAS SOLD OUT SO SHE IS FINE, SHE JUST NEEDS TO TONE THE WACKINESS.

‘BUT…..SHE DID NOT. THE END.”

kiiii Bxtch clearly your’re not that smart! ONLY 59 dates of Bey’s tour is accounted for. Do the Math sweety, or get someone who can add, to do it for you 😉

‘APPLAUSE PROVES SHE HAS LONGEVITY”

Is that why Beyonce has sold 200,000 copies of her new unpromoted album in a few hours, compared to Gags who promoted heavily for MONTHS, and debuted with 259,000?????

LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL B**** DIE!

BUT…..SHE DID NOT. THE END.” kiiii Bxtch clearly your’re not that smart! ONLY 59 dates of Bey’s tour is accounted for. Do the Math sweety, or get someone who can add, to do it for you

the BB cut of is from nov 2012 to nov 2013. If she misses, too bad for her. Billboard will not change their rule for her or anyone. Notic how jon bon jovi done 200 mill all sold out. THAT IS HOW U SLAY.

I’m convinced these trolls are placed here just to keep stan wars going!

s that why Beyonce has sold 200,000 copies of her new unpromoted album in a few hours, compared to Gags who promoted heavily for MONTHS, and debuted with 259,000????? LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL b**** DIE

SHE HAS NOT SOLD 200, HDD PREDICT IT COULD BE 200 FOR 3 DAYS. BUT THEY ALWAYS GET IT WRONG. I BET SHE DOES UNDER 300K AND HAS 90 % DROP. BOOM.

I bet u any money, in the long run artpop will outsell Beyonce. I bet u beyonce next single will hit top 5 over beyonce. Mark my words.

' src=

Riri still slay despite the buzz going on about beyonce. it will not last.

' src=

too much numbers right now. come on… it’s friday. p!nk (for my taste) ran over beyonce and rihanna nonetheless. 😀

Sweets, your motha Bey has surpassed the 200,000 mark.. Here’s a receipt for ya #enjoy 😉

“Beyonce Knowles Carter and her brand new self-titled album just crossed the 200,000 copies sold mark…in a matter of hours. With no promo.

Chart News reports she has officially crossed the 200,000 copies sold in the U.S. mark for her self titled visual album, Beyonce. And 80,000 of those were sold in the first 3 hours after her surprise midnight release.

These numbers make King Bey & her utter hotness #1 in 87 countries. Billboard reports she’s also poised to snatch the #1 Billboard 200 spot.”

Bxtch i told you to LEARN to deal! kiiiii

' src=

I don’t feel like dragging Rih but the Navy shouldn’t be coming for Beyoncé when her album will likely sell what Unapologetic did in a full first week in 3 days with iTunes only. Just saying.

I don’t feel like dragging Rih but the Navy shouldn’t be coming for Beyoncé when her album will likely sell what Unapologetic did in a full first week in 3 days with iTunes only. Just saying.

SAYS HDD who gave crazy grossing with gaga and katy, both of them were predicted t sell over 500k. Also, UNA SOLD 4 MILL WW. BEYONCE WILL TOP 2 MILL AND BURN OUT.

Just saying.

' src=

Pollstar and Billboard #s added up, Bey did $145.1 million from 83 shows

So far she’s added 123 dates worldwide, still adding dates in Europe, will tour Asia and possibly Latin America and the Carrebian once again on the power of the new album/era …

This tour is heading to $250 million worldwide, I can’t wait!!!!

“I bet u any money, in the long run artpop will outsell Beyonce. I bet u beyonce next single will hit top 5 over beyonce. Mark my words.”

How is that so, even with two top ten singles, and a third single on the way, Beyonce is still outselling her ALREADY, without a a single and with no promo! BYE!!

TTT SOLD 4.5

Imagine she did not do yearly sloppy releases? DO THE MATH……. SHE COULD OF DONE 9 MILLL OR SO WITH TTT IF SHE DID OT RUSH. DO THE MATH. BEYONCE HAD HIGH 1ST WEEK SALES, BUT TTT KILLED HER OVERALL SALES.

No one’s here for your FALSE pressed predictions.. GOODBYE

' src=

chop off 50 million from beyonce and she falls further from the list. she owes pepsi 50 milllion.

' src=

Beyonce has done 100 shows why did they only count 59 of those?

HDD gave both Prism and Chartflop accurate predictions once they were released. Prism’s was 290K and Chartflop’s was 260K. So it’s pretty certain that Beyoncé will do over 200K.

Pollstar and Billboard #s added up, Bey did $145.1 million from 83 shows So far she’s added 123 dates worldwide, still adding dates in Europe, will tour Asia and possibly Latin America and the Carrebian once again on the power of the new album/era … This tour is heading to $250 million worldwide, I can’t wait!!!!

Rih is doing a latin leg next year. SO, what does this have to do with beyonce coming in at number 8 on this YEARS LIST? I am confused! THIS IS THE LIST FOR 2013. FEAL.

@Jon The other shows’ box scores haven’t been reported to Billboard.

“Pollstar and Billboard #s added up, Bey did $145.1 million from 83 shows”

SYBIL DID YOU CATCH THAT TEA?? KIIIIII 83 SHOWS>145 mILL

COMPARED TO 87 STADIUM SHOWS< 137 mILL

The egg is on your black crusty face bxtch!kiiii

WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME BEYONCE ALBUM OUTSOLD RIHANNA?

' src=

I love when a “non-ghetto” b**** tries to define what art is. P!nk is not that great. Most of her discography sounds the f****** same. She’s a great singer, she just has a static sound and that’s why she doesn’t impact music. She also contradicts herself very often.

@R****** Stan. B**** look, you been trolling and getting your hair follicles plucked on every f****** scene I seen your ass repost on. You and XEDOS.

GUESS WHAT? Last night was Beyonce’s 100th show. This list is wayyyyy f****** outdated. TRUST AND BELIEVE she’s already s*** on lives with this tour and she will continue to into 2014. Trust me when I say she’s outearning St!nk and has already outearned R******.

i AM HALF WHITE AND i HAVE PURE BLONDE BLUE EYES PARENT WHITE PARENTS DONT MAKE CRUST BLACK SHITS. THAT IS U BEYONCE IS NUMBER 8 ON THAT LIST.

SO DEAL. EVEN TAYLOR SWIFT KILLED BEYONCE TOUR.

“So far she’s added 123 dates worldwide, still adding dates in Europe, will tour Asia and possibly Latin America and the Carrebian once again on the power of the new album/era …”

THIS!!! and it’s a possibility that she may tour Africa! They are going crazy because they want the Queen!

BB list is from nov 2012 ro nov 2013. In tha period beyonce only came 8th and had 14 non sell out shows. RIH DONE SO WELL TO COME 5 AND HAVE ONLY 3 NON SELL OUTS, I KNOW ALL HER STADIUMS SOLD OUT.

IF U DONT LIKE, GO to billboard and complain. RULES ARE RULES.

I’m ready for Rihanna’s 8th album and MCSWT 3rd American leg!!!!

“AM HALF WHITE AND i HAVE PURE BLONDE BLUE EYES PARENT WHITE PARENTS DONT MAKE CRUST BLACK SHITS. THAT IS U BEYONCE IS NUMBER 8 ON THAT LIST”

I spot LIES all through that comment chile kiiiii

From the way you are seething, i picture you being a short stubby, dark black girl, who is obviously jealous of Beyonce! kiii

are u gonna post about billbaords best selling acts of 2013? GUESS WHERE RIH CAME…..LOL LOL HA HA AH SHE KEEPS WINNING.

ARE U GONNA POST THE TEASER FOR THE MONSTER VIDEO? IT IS FIRE.

Honey i would expect Rihject to be listed somewhere… She has more albums and singles than artist who have been around 20 years! BYE

She is a singles artiste

I spot LIES all through that comment chile kiiiii From the way you are seething, i picture you being a short stubby, dark black girl, who is obviously jealous of Beyonce! kiii

iF i WAS short dark girl why would I stan for Sade, madonna and rih? ALL THE ARE WHITE AND MIXED. I am half swedish and half cape verdean. Cape verdeans are the most beautiful blacks. THEY HAVE NATURAL CURLY HAIR AND GREEN EYES. BEYONCE HAS NAPPY HAIR AND DARK EYES. rih has sweet cape verdean eyes.

' src=

WHERE IS CI-ERROR????

Swedish people are considered the most stunning in the world. U are black american s**** shitl. No one likes u.

Cape verdean are the best looking blacks. We are mix on that island. Add my Swedish parent. I WAS BORN A QUEEN. U WEAR MY HAIR TEXTURE ON UR NAPPY S**** 12 YEARS OF S**** ASS. My ancestors are not slaves. U look like that jet black woman from 12 years of s****, with her no hair.

' src=

Who are these Rihanna stans? Sit down. Y’all just mad that Beyonce overshadowed your fav’s feature on a #1 song.

who is you?

YIppeee. Rih is singles artist. She does not sell out tours and she has not even sold 1 million albums. Def jam will drop her next week. She is not shooting vgue, she is shooting s**** magazine called essence.

BUT WHERE IS CI-ERROR?? BEYONCE RELEASED A NEW ALBUM, R8 COMING NEXT YEAR WHAT WILL HAPPEN TO THE T*****.SHE WILL GET DROPPED LIKE RITA WHORA??

' src=

seriously? You should congratulate 2 black women out there doing their thing and you just come here to write s*** about how you love Rihanna, who cares? They are both great doing their own thing and they are friend so Sit DOWN and enjoy music for christ sake

' src=

Look at the big picture. Rih did 87 shows that’s a lot and did major iconic stadiums that beyawnce could never. She only had 4 dates that wasn’t sold out. Beyawnce had 59 shows and 19 not sold out. There is no way she could have done rihs 87 because her non sold out would have doubled.

I don’t think she will sell out this dates either… she’ll keep touring and touring and touring. Looks like nobody wants to pay for overly expensive tickets just towatch her ddoing the same $hit.

' src=

Beyonce grossing that much with JUST 59 dates. Shes going to have one of THE best tours by the time it ends

' src=

Congrats to Rihanna.. She’s doing her damn thing. But shout to the incomparable PINK.. SHE IS THE BEST PERFORMER !!!! She does incredible things without half of the publicity. She’s an astonishing talent..

' src=

BUT I THOUGHT THE MISS CARTER TOUR WAS SLAYING THE DIAMONDS TOUR? The delusion.

Not Beyonce grossing less than Taylor swift

' src=

Bey & Rih both started tour later than most of those on the list & still made huge moves without a total calender year season behind them.

Slayage.real

' src=

Sybil Hush! Enough of your b******* already. I can’t stand Slay Hive but that was just rude and uncalled for. I don’t appreciate your disrespect for my darker skinned brothers and sisters. Take that b******* superiority complex on to the white blogs,in fact I’d love to hear what they have to say after you boast your ethnic background to them lol. Also you need to educate yourself because not all Cape Verde people have “NATURAL CURLY HAIR AND GREEN EYES” lol. In fact, I’ve been to Portugal (where some of your Cape Verde people live) and I saw a lot who didn’t even have those phenotypes you speak of so you’re full of s*** as usual. “Cape verdeans are the most beautiful blacks”? lmao! Says who? No one and especially not the Europeans would even bother to say something like that.”rih has sweet cape verdean eyes” lol? Since when has any ethnic group owned a particular trait? You truly are living in the land of delusion and insecurities.

' src=

Beyonce started her tour on April 15th 2013, not 2012. She grossed 104Million in only 59 shows, now, do the ratio and compare to rihanna. Wait until bey finishes all 123 shows and all her dates are added, she is expected to gross about 200 Million. Now that’s slayage.

' src=

Beyoncé is in tour with an album that’s 2yrs old she’s still winning if she makes money from her old s***

' src=

Navy commander can you do math? Look how many dates Beyonce has counted for and look how much she grossed.

' src=

I’m gonna have to ride with you on the novelty thing.

Beyonce has seen better days in the industry. What she is doing by dropping a visual album has already been done by her. She can’t outdo herself. She releases videos because she needs that extra umph to build momentum. Her music is CHIT, it all sounds the same, nothing innovating or mindblowing. She is trying way too hard to prove she is better than all the pop starlets, and she is NOT. Pink out-toured her, and Rihanna ranked top 5 leaving Beyonce in the dust yet again.

****But Rihanna being recognized as an ICON is the ultimate accomplishment for someone allegedly in the shadows of Beyonce.

Beyonce’s problem has always been and will always be HYPE, HYPE, HYPE. She dropped pretty much during a time when no other pop starletts were dropping and it’s too her advantage. BUT in a few weeks she will get a reality check she wish she hadn’t asked for. Her stans act like she’s doing something major on the charts, but she’s playing catch up. CTFU even she knows that.

' src=

The navy can’t read or something? Cause it seems like you are skipping the article and just looking to see where rih and bey are positioned so you can compare. Anywho, congrats to both. Especially, my slaying king bey!

' src=

I was about to say you must be a beautiful person but that comment is ugly. There is beauty in every ethnic mix and country. You sound unintelligent and I hope the moderators of this blog clean up the racist language various, useless people leave.

' src=

The Navy is f****** Rihmedial…do you b****** not know basic arithmetic??? Beyoncé will end up grossing more than Rihanna, AS USUAL, in the end you stupid h***.

' src=

this list is most likely made up.. wheres alicia keys at on the list, her show was great

The Top 20 Highest Grossing Tours of 2013…

tumblr_mxxahwrdqe1raieqqo1_r2_1280

Pollstar has released a list of the top grossing tours of 2013. Bon Jovi came out on top with $259.5M, selling 2.7M tickets. The Rolling Stones had the highest average ticket price at $288. Jay Z and Justin Timberlake had the highest average tickets sold per show at 52K.

1. Bon Jovi

4. justin bieber, 5. bruce springsteen & the e-street band, 7. cirque du soleil –  michael jackson: the immortal, 8. taylor swift, 9. depeche mode, 10. one direction, 11. paul mccartney, 12. the rolling stones, 14. fleetwood mac, 15. kenny chesney, 16. roger waters, 17. bruno mars, 18. jay z & justin timberlake, 19. elton john, 20. cirque du soleil –  corteo, 7 responses.

Obviously something isn’t quite right here Billboard reported the top 25 Tours the other day and there list is different http://www.billboard.com/articles/list/5820092/top-25-tours-of-2013

LOL you want me to believe that Bieber came at No. 4???? Really???? He is No. 13 on Billboard.

FYI – Billboard cuts their tour numbers off in Sept. They run Sept. to Sept. Pollstar uses the calendar year. Jan. 1 to Dec. 31. Beibs toured thru to mid Dec.

The numbers will be different. ….yes. Really.

Half are from legacy acts.

The most amazing stat is that anyone paid $288.00 to see the Strolling Bones. Drunk Brits with bad teeth doing the chicken mating dance to out-of-tune guitars and no groove?

I’d rather spend an evening with a metronome.

You couldn’t pay me to see most of those “artists”.

Take the two Circque shows out — they’re family-type destination events — and that makes eight out of 18 legacy artists, most of which are close to or already past their sell-by dates. If the music industry is indeed mainly reliant on touring revenues/ticket sales, the bottom will have fallen out of that market within five years.

Taylor Swift, Kenny Chesney Had Two of Top Tours of 2013

Once again, Taylor Swift and Kenny Chesney had two of the top-selling tours of the year.

Swift and Chesney are road warriors and touring is a massive part of each of their businesses, so they almost always wind up on year-end top tour lists for their efforts.

Swift's Red Tour was No. 8 on the list of Top 20 Worldwide Tours of 2013 as reported by Pollstar. The singer will continue the trek across the pond in 2014, as she has sold out multiple nights in England already, causing her to add more dates .

Chesney, who already announced that he will not hit the road in 2014 in order to focus on making a new album, landed at No. 15 with his No Shoes Nation Tour.

We must point out that these nods also speak to the dedication of country fans, who show up and support their favorite acts on tour, buying the tickets and the merchandise. So in essence, these accolades are shared with the fans!

The list was topped by rockers Bon Jovi . Check out this graphic , which outlines the biggest touring grosses of 2013.

Congrats to all the top touring acts of 2013, but extra special congrats to Swift and Chesney!

Iceland: Horse Course

Brought by Viking settlers some 1,000 years ago, Icelandic horses are coveted for their flowing manes, good temperaments, and graceful gaits. Walk, trot, gallop, and tölt (a natural gait unique to the breed) astride one of these beauties through the meadows, lava fields, and sandy beaches of Snæfellsnes Peninsula—all in the shadow of Snæfellsjökull, the glacier-capped cone volcano that inspired Jules Verne’s Journey to the Center of the Earth . Refuel at simple country guesthouses, where hosts regale you with Viking sagas. Women only. Adventure Women: “Horseback Riding in Iceland: Land of Fire and Ice,” 9 days; $3,995; www.adventurewomen.com

Malta, Italy: Ancient Sicily

The 65-passenger Sea Cloud II sets sail from Malta for an in-depth exploration of Sicily’s ancient treasures, including the archaeological zone in Syracuse and the Greek temple and theater in Segesta. Adding context are onboard lectures from Temple University art history professor Frank Dabell and National Trust for Historic Preservation horticulturalist Patrick Bowe. In Syracuse, the group will visit the baroque palazzo of Baron Beneventano for a tour and refreshments. Academic Arrangements Abroad: “Sicily by Sea: Art Treasures and Ancient Temples,” 9 days; $5,995; www.arrangementsabroad.com

Italy: Tour de Tuscany

Cycle past the rolling vineyards of Chianti and up the crete —clay hills—on the approach to Siena on this luxurious biking tour through Tuscany’s legendary landscape. Picnic at private estates and stay at five-star digs (Siena’s 17th-century Grand Hotel Continental, for example). Opt for an electric bike ($400 extra) to save face on those climbs and focus on the countryside vistas rather than the burning in your quads. Butterfield and Robinson: “Tuscany Biking,” 6 days; $5,295; www.butterfield.com

Ireland: Green Isle Road Trip

This coastal ramble has your small group cruising the southwestern countryside in custom 4x4s, with stops at quintessential Irish towns like Dingle (population: 2,500; pubs: 50) and a night at a castle in Connemara. The country’s trademark breakfast (rashers and sausage) is included, but unlike most of the trips featured here, lunch and dinner are not. Want to track down your Irish kin? Ask about private ancestral tours pegged to Ireland’s 2013 diaspora celebration, called the Gathering. Vagabond Adventure Tours of Ireland: “Wild Irish Rover,” 8 days; $1,804; vagabondtoursofireland.ie

Austria, Czech Republic: Art Walk

An art historian provides the narrative during daily hiking jaunts. There are long nature walks, such as the one through the Palava hills reserve, samplings of Czech beer and Moravian wine, and tours of Prague and the beautifully preserved city of Český Krumlov, a UNESCO World Heritage site known for its baroque and Gothic architecture. The Wayfarers: “Vienna to Prague,” 8 days; $4,195; www.thewayfarers.com

Sweden: Scandinavian Respite

What better way to reconnect with your family than to build and pilot a timber raft down a river together, like the loggers of yore? In the wilds of Sweden, no less. Ditch your devices and float down the Klarälven River, a historic logging route, for five days. Your kids will thank you now and later. Greenloons: “Swedish Timber Raft Adventure,” 5 days; $1,805, $1,440 kids; www.greenloons.com

Albania, Kosovo, Montenegro: Balkan Friendship Hike

Created by linking timeworn shepherd paths, the newly established Peaks of the Balkans trail system has opened to hikers the rugged Prokletije range at the nexus of Albania, Kosovo, and Montenegro. Here’s a chance to experience this remote, unspoiled region with its unique Ottoman-influenced culture. Nights are spent at guesthouses, whose owners serve up local fare and stories. ROW Adventures: “Peaks of the Balkans: Peace Park Hike,” 10 days; $2,490; www.rowadventures.com

Ukraine: The Cream of Crimea

  • Nat Geo Expeditions

Once the fashionable haunt of the Russian tsars, the Crimean Peninsula is being rediscovered by travelers. This itinerary hits all the high notes: a private tour of the Anton Chekhov Museum and dacha, cooking and sharing a meal with descendants of the Tatars, and a VIP tasting at the storied Massandra vineyards. Exeter International: “Treasures of the Crimea, Ukraine,” 6 days; $5,325; www.exeterinternational.com

Turkey: Youngsters’ Delight

This family-focused journey is crammed with classic Turkish experiences—e.g., bargaining at Istanbul’s spice market, visiting a rug-weaving co-op, and sailing on a gulet —plus hands-on fun like traditional paper-marbling, an art form that dates from the 15th century, and a pottery workshop in Cappadocia. Nice touch: Prior to the trip, kids are connected with pen pals they’ll meet once they arrive. Thomson Family Adventures: “Wonders of Turkey: A Smithsonian Family Adventure,” 15 days; $7,090; $6,940 for children under 12; www.familyadventures.com

France: Unsung Europe

Rambling countryside, medieval stone villages, engaging locals, and castles galore—the southwest of France is arguably one of the least spoiled corners of western Europe, and an unparalleled backdrop for cycling. Pedal some 40 miles a day on the back roads of Aquitaine, Midi-Pyrénées, and Languedoc-Roussillon, stopping for wine tastings, a canoe paddle down the Dordogne, and cassoulet, sans guilt. Ciclismo Classico: “Bike Across France,” 10 days; $5,395; www.ciclismoclassico.com

Lena, our guide in Moscow was excellent. She was very knowledgable and could answer any question we had for her. We liked that she could pick up on our interests and take us places we might not have thought of to go. When we realized that one of the places we had chosen to see would probably not be that interesting to us, she was able to arrange entry to the Diamond Fund and the Armoury for us. Riding the Metro with Lena was a real adventure and a lot of fun. In Saint Petersburg we found Anna well versed in the history of the Tsars and in the Hermitage collection. Arkady in Veliky Novgorod was a very good guide and answered all of our questions with ease. Novgorod was perhaps a long way to go for a day trip, but we did enjoy it. Vasily was a great driver to have and kept us safe with good humour and skill. We enjoyed ourselves so much, my daughter says she is already planning to return. We would both have no hesistation to recommend ExpresstoRussia to anyone we know.

Just wanted to let you know that My grandson Bruno and I couldn´t have been more pleased with our week in Moscow (6/15 - 6/21). We were absolutely enchanted with the whole experience, including getting lost a couple of times in the Metro during our free time. Although both our guides (both Eleanas) were excellent, I would particularly commend the first one (she took us to the Tatiakov, the KGB tour, and to that beautiful cemetery where so many great Russian artists, authors, composers, musicians, militarists, and politicians are buried). Her knowledge is encyclopedic; and her understanding of today´s Russia as a product of its past was, for us, truly enlightening. I will be taking another tour in Russia, with my wife, within the next two or three years. I will be in touch with you when the time comes. Meanwhile, I will refer you to other potential visitors to Russia as I meet them.

Tours to Moscow

Our Moscow tours are land only meaning that you arrange your own air travel to Russia and our expert staff meets you at the airport and handles everything else from there. Our online Airline Ticket booking system offers some of the most competitive rates to Russia available on the web so if you need tickets, please visit our Russian air ticket center . Rest assured that you will be taken great care of on one of our Moscow tours. Express to Russia has a fully staffed office in Moscow that will help to make your visit fun, informative and unforgettable. Please remember that of all these tours are private and can be adjusted to your taste. You can add, replace or skip some sights; you can add more days to the package or cut the tour short. Our specialists will be glad to help you create the tour of your dreams!

Novodevichy Convent, Moscow

Moscow, a City Like No Other

Moscow is Russia’s largest city with a population of between 12 and 13 million. It is also Europe’s largest city and when you visit Moscow, you can feel it. The layout and architecture of the city is eclectic, ranging from crooked, ancient streets and alleyways to wide, bustling boulevards, from medieval churches to Stalin skyscrapers and to modern, glass buildings towering over everything and of course in the center of it all is the Kremlin and the magnificent Red Square. Moscow is also home to a fantastic, efficient and very beautiful metro system – each station having its own special design. In fact, Express to Russia’s Moscow metro tours and excursions are some of our most popular attractions that we offer. On our Moscow tours, you will see this and more.

Moscow Kremlin in the times of Ivan III

Moscow Tours centering on Russian History

Moscow has a long and interesting history and has been the capital of Russia in many of its different iterations – capital of the Grand Duchy of Moscow , the Russian Empire and of course the Soviet Union (who could ever forget the Soviet Union?). Moscow, was founded in the 12th century by Prince Yuri Dolgaruki (Yuri of the long arms – he really did have long arms!). From that time on, it was home to the Russian Tsars until Peter the Great moved the capital to St. Petersburg in 1703. The city has survived invasions and sieges from the Mongols, the Tartars, the Poles, Lithuanians and Napoleon but has always persevered. Our Moscow tours will enlighten you on this great history and give you insights into Muscovites and their unique culture. Our Moscow tours show you what the city is like today but also brings to life the past. Moscow never seems to sleep and is bursting with energy. A Moscow tour with Express to Russia is truly the best way of getting to know Russia’s largest and most vibrant city.

Frequently Asked Questions From Our Travelers

What is the best time to visit moscow.

Any time of year is fine depending on what you plan to do. Summertime is pleasantly warm, ideal for exploring the city and its vibrant atmosphere, but Moscow will be much busier and accommodation is more expensive. Winter can be quite cold but beautiful nonetheless, and this is unproblematic if you intend to spend most of your trip in museums and galleries. There are also various festivals and events organised throughout the year. For more information about the best time to visit, read our guide

How many days are enough in Moscow?

If you plan your itinerary strategically and aren’t averse to a packed schedule, you can cover Moscow’s main sights over a long weekend. Most popular attractions are in the city centre, and the Moscow Metro allows you to cover much ground in a small amount of time. Ensure that your accommodation is fairly central and book tickets in advance, so that you can make the most of your days. For an informative and well-organised day out, check out our Moscow day tours with options to suit all interests.

Do they speak English in Moscow?

As Russia’s capital city, tourists are well accommodated in Moscow. There should be English-speaking staff in restaurants, bars, hotels, shops and attractions in tourist hotspots, and there are also English-speaking tourist police. Transport services have English translations on their maps and English announcements via intercom; alternatively, order taxis from the Yandex Taxi app (Russian Uber), though it’s unlikely that your taxi driver will speak English. If you get stuck and cannot communicate, it’s fine to use Google Translate.

Is it safe to travel to Moscow?

It is no less safe to travel to Moscow than to any European city if you exercise common sense and look after your belongings. As with every city some regions can be more unsavoury than others, but no tourist attractions are located there. The traffic in Moscow is notorious, so exercise caution when crossing roads. Do not take unlicensed taxis; book in advance or take public transport, which is widespread and perfectly safe. If you encounter any problems, look for the special tourist police who can help you.
