I had a great time in Mauritius on this 7 night break. The tour operator was very helpful and kept in touch throughout, and the day trip incorporated into the main trip was very enjoyable with a lovely tour guide. Transfers from and to the airport went very smoothly with friendly. I also booked 3 additional tours through the tour operator, all of which showed me so many sides to the island in terms of History, demographics, core industries. The hotel was more run down than expected from their website but the room was spacious and comfortable. The hotel staff were friendly and helpful given I seemed to be the only solo traveller there. My key disappointment was in the quality of the taste of the food at the hotel; desserts were done very well but the flavours for starters and main courses were lacking. Also I found it unusual that there was no bottled water provided as a matter of courtesy. I felt initially confined to the hotel for food but eventually navigated the local bus system which is very good to get to the main town of Grand Baie. This would have been great information provided at the start of my trip. Mauritius is a fabulous island, the beaches are beautiful, the local people have a wonderful vibe, the weather was excellent. Hallo liebes Team von journaway. Ich war gerade mit meiner Tochter auf Mauritius, la Réunion und Seychellen. Das erste mal, dass ich nicht individuell gereist bin. War vorher eher skeptisch, aber ich muss sagen, es war alles top von euch ausgewählt und prima organisiert. An manchen Tagen sind wir euren Vorschlägen gefolgt (zb piton de la fournaise) und das war auch immer prima. Otentic auf Mauritius ist super und auch das Bliss Hotel auf Mahe war sehr toll. Top Lage und sehr hübsch. Genau so schön war das Zimmer in Saint Pierre. Abzug würde ich geben für arrogantes und lahmes Personal im Dina Morgabine Hotelrestaurant und der Bar dort. Die Rezeption dort war aber super freundlich und der Pool groß genug zum Schwimmen. Dass der Typ bei Europarat am Flughafen in Saint Denis pro Kunden eine halbe Stunde und mehr gebraucht hat, war doof, aber dafür könnt ihr ja nichts. Ihr habt einen super Job gemacht und wir konnten jeden Tag voll genießen. Ich würde jedenfalls wieder bei euch buchen

Wir konnten mehrere Buckelwale vom Strand aus beobachten.Wo: Saint Gilles, La Reunion Ansonsten waren die Unterkünfte allesamt sehr schön. Das otentic Tent auf Mauritius hat uns mit sehr viel Liebe zum Detail empfangen, man hat sich sehr wohlgefühlt. Auf La Reunion konnte man viel unternehmen und die Insel entspannt entdecken. Auf den Seychellen konnten wir uns noch 3 Tage erholen und einen Tauchausflug erleben. Mit dem Upgrade auf das bessere Hotel hatten wir auch noch etwas mehr Luxus zum Abschluss, was uns ebenfalls sehr zugesagt hat.

RHUMERIE DE CHAMAREL

But for Rebecca and Dan, before you get to the seven-coloured Earth, visit the Rhumerie de Chamarel, where you can taste the local Rhum. Then get yourself a glass of freshly squeezed sugar cane juice & take it to the site, or you can grab a coffee with some nibbles at the site café.

THE WATERFALL

Very nearby is the Chamarel Waterfall. The amazing natural wonder stands at 83m tall. You can even see its power from far away. For an incredible experience, walk to the waterfall’s source or the watchpoint.

EBONY FOREST

The Chamarel adventure also optionally includes the Ebony forest. A jeep ride takes you to the top of the mountain, where the focal attraction is the ebony tree that takes a very long time to grow. The island was home to ebony trees around 1000 years old at its discovery. From the top of the forest, you can see the West Coast. The place is great for spending the morning with your family and enjoying Mauritius more.
