Good local food, fast service. We ate the goulash and roast duck, all was prepared good and delicious. The restaurant itself is nothing special, but prices are very reasonable like in such full of tourists old town. Great place for a short break while wandering... around the city. More

We had the goulash and roast duck. Both came with dumplings. Goulash was tasty but not spicy, sauce was a little watery for my liking. The duck was a little over cooked but the red cabbage it came with was delicious. No complaints really for... price. The ambience is very much like a U.K. local pub, no frills, decent beer and food. Outside, there is a small garden area but was full when we went. Prompt service. More

Great food for great price. The interior and the look of this place is simple so it might turn away few higher demand customers but do not be mistaken. I would definitely recommend this place if you want to taste traditional Czech cuisine. I was... pleasantly surprised because lots of places in the center of tourist attractions are tourist traps with high prices and low quality. More

I ate here due to previous TA reviews and so right they were. The pub entrance is not overwhelming but go through to the open air dining area and enjoy. Great prices by CO standards, fabulous food and good beer. Leave room for the Sachertorte.

Reasonable priced food. The trout is to die for; very delicious, juicy and succulent. The pork ribs was so so. Nonetheless, the atmosphere was nice although it's not one of those restaurants at the terraces. Quiet, simple and authentic.

Firstly it's value for money! it's also a beautiful restaurant with delicious food and good size of portions.

We have chosen this restaurant because of the nice reviews they had. I have to say we did a bad choice. We ended up in the hospital with the symptons of food poisoning (high temperature, vomiting, diarrhea) after take the grilled chicken with mushrooms and... potato dumplings. I usually provide nice reviews to the restaurants we visit, but this time I oviously cannot. Please be very careful if visiting this place. More

It may be a cheap place, but, obviously, they can't really cook. The meal cost around 10 euros or even less, but it wasn't worth that price. They use too much salt and cumin, so cabbage is almost inedible. And the dumplings are also served... with excessive amount of cumin in it. They should definetely sack their cook, until then do not look at all of these positive reviews, they are misguiding. Really, find a better place to eat. Pay more, but enjoy your meal. More

We wanted to get some local food for reasonable price. This is the place for it. Alas, service was more than slow, we waited probably almost an hour to get our meals. On the bright side, meals were very good (this time my wife had... a whole pork knuckle, I had pork neck). And prices right. We sat in a small garden inside the inn. More

Nice restaurant with terrace, pleasant atmosphere, good service. We were warned that it will take about an hour to prepare the food. I had a peas soup which was good and a decent trout, kind of salty for my taste. Prices are pretty ok so,... all in all, it was a decent lunch experience. More

Amazing food in a rustic, authentic atmosphere. Best sausage-flavorful and the perfect snap.Salad was one of few green vegetables we had in Czech Republic and the arugula with mustard dressing was a perfect combination!

It's cheaper than most of the other establishments in CK because the dining room has no views, being in the basement. Had lunch here. Fare is fine and portions are filling.

5 peeps in the family 23-58 and everyone was more than happy with the food, drink and vibe. Some kind customer/local even gave us his phone so we could watch Team Canada IIF win their game!!! We had a really nice dinner at this restaurant. Good food, great presentation and very good service. We had their famous soup, then a main course and dessert, a good wine and the bread. Not very expensive, just right. I wished we stayed another day to tried the other options, all sounded very good.

The restaurant is lovely. The food was good. The service a little condescending. The guitarists were average (the main reason I chose the restaurant) and they charged me for tap water - the only time in 3 weeks in the Czech Republic.

We enjoyed a very tasty lunch here, notably a superb wild mushrooms sauce as it was just the right season. The portions are generous and the service was very efficient. Their cakes are extremely attractive and tasty. A must in Cesky Krumlov !

Late afternoon on a hot July day we were lucky to choose Restaurant Konvice for our dinner. The setting was perfect. Elevated terrace overlooking the beautiful buildings and towers in the soft light of the late setting summer sun (the elevanted position was also a bit cooler than most other options - very welcome on the day). It was relatively quiet with only a few other tables occupied - this was also welcome amidst the bustle of crowds in this old gem of a town. But even it all the tables on the terrace was ful it would not bee too busy). The service was friendly and welcoming (a warm experience after our initial impression was that it was going to be a bit "stiff"/formal) - I think a lot of this experience was due to the waiter servicing our table - relaxed, friendly & sharing his passion for the food without being intrusive. The food did not disappoint. Shared a lovely beef tartare "the check way" with great finer touches suggested by the waiter. The rest of the meal also tasty and well presented.

Many people choose to visit Cesky Krumlov on a day trip from Prague. I chose to stay several days to give myself a chance to try as many Cesky Krumlov restaurants as possible.

The Cesky Krumlov restaurants impressed me. I was able to find a variety of styles represented — everything from classic Czech food, to fine dining and even modern Czech dishes.

My 5 Favorite Cesky Krumlov Restaurants

Hospoda na louzi.

When I walked in and found Hospoda Na Louzi was filled with locals, I knew it was going to be great.

The atmosphere is casual, a lot like a neighborhood pub. The service is quick but informal. This is a great place to try some classic Czech food with a great beer.

I recommend the roasted pork, the goulash or roasted duck leg. Like so many other Czech dishes, all three are served with bread dumplings.

Traveller’s Hostel and Pub

One of the best places in town for carnivores, this pub’s can’t miss dishes include the (gigantic) pork knuckle and the fork tender honey roasted ribs.

If you’re not in the mood for huge servings of meat, you can also find grilled trout with herbs, chicken and grilled veggies, stuffed dumplings, sausages and dessert.

The portions are large, the prices are fair and the beer is cold. Defenetly one of the best Cesky Krumlov restaurants. What more could you ask for?

Locals told me repeatedly that Jakub is the best restaurant in Cesky Krumlov for fine dining. The menu is full of traditional recipes that have been updated with modern cooking methods.

Though best known for their fish dishes, you’ll also find dishes like roasted pork fillet with a chorizo risotto. I recommend the slow braised beef cheeks with a red wine demi served over root vegetables.

Hostinec DEPO Gastropub

DEPO has one of my favorite beer gardens in Cesky Krumlov. I recommend you go hungry and try their menu. It’s full of local favorites.

Favorite dishes are the goulash, tartare, and the roasted goose leg with herbed bread dumplings.

Even if you don’t have time for a meal, visit the garden for a drink. It is one of my favorite spots in town.

Papa’s Living Restaurant

Locals have told me this is one of the best Italian food places in town. But they’ve also said you shouldn’t go for their local Czech food. Papa’s specializes in steaks, seafood and their famous ribs.

Like any good Italian restaurant, Papa’s has an impressive pasta menu. Favorites include salmon tagliatelle, pasta carbonara and spaghetti with tomato sauce, Spanish ham, basil pesto and Parmesan cheese.

Ask about their rotating daily specials menu or the house special — roasted shrimp flambéed in cognac and served with crusty bread.

Krčma v Satlavské Ulici is a true ‘tavern’ (which is what ‘krčma’ translates to). With stone walls, wooden tables, and an open grill pit where they’ll cook your meat fresh, this place is a real journey into the past. Your meal will come on a wooden plate, looking just as they might have cooked it a few hundred years ago. This tends to be a very popular place, though, so it’s a good idea to make a reservation in advance.
