12 Breweries to Visit Near Bethlehem, PA

Guys drinking beer on pub tours in Lehigh Valley

Get a taste of your Brew Tour adventure with our list of 12 Breweries to visit near Bethlehem, PA:

2.Bonn Place Brewing Company-   A gem tucked away on Bethlehem’s South Side started by a husband and wife duo from New Jersey. Its unique offerings are available to-go, curbside, crowlers, growlers or in tasting flights at the bar. The seven-barrel wood-clad system is inspired by traditional English ales. Varieties on tap include a New England IPA, fruited sours, ambers and mild pours. Bonn Place Brewing Company is known for “Mooey,” its national award-wining English-style pub ale. Bonn Place Brewing Company is located less than a mile from The Sayre Mansion. 610-419-6660.

3. Seven Sirens- New to Bethlehem in 2020, this 8,500 square foot tasting room, in the beer hall style, offers games and entertainment while you enjoy its seven flagship brews. Customers may order at a 26-foot wooden backbar. The piece was hand-carved in Ireland over 100 years ago and was salvaged from the former Shamrock Inn nearby. The business was launched by two longtime friends, both veterans. Beer on tap is crafted from organic, locally sourced ingredients. Signature pours include SteelStacks Lager, 7Seas IPA and Shellback a wheat ale brewed with passion fruit, papaya and mango. Future plans call for a rooftop beer garden. Seven Sirens is .3 miles from The Sayre Mansion. 810-627-2337

4. Lost Tavern Brewing- Founded in 2016 in the spirit of Hellertown’s first business, a tavern that opened in 1746. The brewing company bears the same name as that of its predecessor. In its day the tavern was the main hub of social interaction in the area, and likely brewed beer on site, as so many early American taverns did. The Bethlehem taproom opened in 2019, within the oldest continually operating book shop in America, The Moravian Book Shop. Visitors to the taproom in Bethlehem can enjoy 17 beers on draft, a selection of local wine and nitro coffee on tap. To-go options include cans, bottles and growlers. Lost Tavern Brewing is 4.5 miles from The Sayre Mansion.

5. Hop Hill Brewing Company A home brewing hobby turned into a hopping business for two friends. The nano brewery in Bethlehem produces delicious craft beers. Their offerings range from award winning flagships and limited IPAs to seasonal and other specials. The tap room offers tastings by the pour, flights and to-go options. Entertainment and food are offered on select dates. Hop Hill Brewing Company is opened Thursday-Sunday at 1988 Blair Avenue and is just under five miles from The Sayre Mansion .

6. The Colony Meadery Visitors to the former Mack Truck factory in South Allentown can enjoy tasting flights, mead on draft and by the bottle, mead slushies and regularly scheduled tours. The Colony Meadery produces award-winning honey based alcoholic beverages. Mead can be traced throughout history as far back as ancient Egypt. The Allentown business is part of the beverage’s recent resurgence in America. The Meadery’s signature products are Straight No Chaser, Woofiedog, Mo-Me-Doh and A Good Sarsaparilla. Seasonal Meads are also offered throughout the year. The Colony Meadery is open Thursday-Sunday at 907 Harrison St, six miles from The Sayre Mansion. A second location will open soon in South Bethlehem offering tastings, food and entertainment. 855-632-3669.

7. Hijinks Brewing Company This brewery built by beer lovers offers tastings that range from traditional to exotic. Visitors to the tasting room will find a variety of beer on tap such as Barista’s Choice Coffee Porter, CitraSqueeze India Pale Ale and Wicked White Belgian Style Ale. Knowledgeable bartenders can offer brief tours of the 4,000 square foot facility and give an overview of the brewing process. Hijinks Brewing Company regularly hosts special events featuring music and local food trucks. The brewery is located at 906 Harrison Street in Allentown, six miles from The Sayre Mansion. 484-714-0080.

Visitors can enjoy tastings in a relaxed, fun atmosphere. Beer on tap includes the brew that put Yergey on the map, Hoptiletious, which features a bright citrus and floral note, mellow malt backbone and strong hoppy bitterness. Other local favorites include Patchwork Pale- American Pale Ale, Weiss Ass Rockin’ Bock- Weizenbock and Dos Yergeys Mexican Style Vienna Lager. Yergey Brewing is open Thursday-Sunday at 518 Bank St in Emmaus, nine miles from The Sayre Mansion. 484-232-7055.

Allentown Brew Works

Ratings and reviews, location and contact.

Decided to stop here because it was within walking distance to the PPL center before a Phantoms game. They don't take reservations on days when there is a game so its pretty much hit or miss. We got the last table. Originally they tried to... put us in a high top right by the waitresses station, which was grand central station, but another table opened up and we asked to move. The beers were really good, the waitress was really nice, but the service was slow. Our waitress seemed to be pulling triple duty and was really rushed. Our food had a good flavor but wasn't even hot when it finally was placed in front of us. We had just enough time to eat and rush down to the PPL for the start of the game. More

We stopped here to eat Saturday afternoon. Everyone enjoyed their sandwiches and tacos: fish tacos, chicken sandwich, and various hamburgers. We had delicious perogies for app. Hibiscus Lemonade was tasty. Service was great as well. Very happy with our choices.

We came here on a very quiet, empty night in Allentown over the holidays. The place was over-staffed for the number of customers, which frustrated the staff who were there. We did get some very solid beers and ordered food off the large dinner menu.... I had the Bethlehem Pasta. Everything we had was decent - what you'd expect for the price point. I'd like to come back sometime when the space (and the whole downtown really) was a bit more lively. More

My first time back since March 2020, before COVID. Ordered an appetizer a soda and 2 beers at the bar. It took over 30 mins for fried cauliflower.. We didn’t get plates, utensils or napkins and couldn’t get either of the bartenders attention so we... had to use the cocktail napkins. I also had to use cocktail napkins to clean the area where we were sitting. The dishes from the patrons that were there before us sat in front of us until I moved them myself. When I asked about our 1 appetizer that we ordered I was told the kitchen was backed up. He did check on someone else’s food but not ours. My husband and I used to go here a lot and always sat at the bar but all the good staff left. I doubt we will be back. More

Waited on line for 30 minutes to get through the front door, down a long hallway and to the host station only to put our names on a list (by a hysterical host) for a minimum of a 1 hour wait. Employees completely overwhelmed by... the crowd after the Trans-Siberian Orchestra let out. Did not stay to wait the hour. People with reservations were also being turned away. Many people on line but many open and available tables in plain view. To say that the neighboring restaurants near the PPL Arena were completely unprepared on a Friday evening for the let out of the matinee show is a total and complete understatement. More

There were only8 customers in the place but it still took nearly an hour to get our food. One of us ordered the chicken sandwich which was the smallest piece of chicken I have ever seen. It was only half the size of the bun.... I had a bratwurst which was really good but again there was like 4 inches shorter than the bun. The Blueberry Belch was excellent which was a minor saving grace of this visit. The server could not have been any less interested in us being there. Overall it was a disappointing experience but has great potential as a fun place More

Having visited here several years ago, I was excited to return recently for a beer and dinner. To my dismay, the entire experience was poor. On arrival the host was busy on his iPad and it took us some time to get us seated, while... there were many uncleaned with staff milling about. The stout and ale we ordered were flat, with limited body and zero head. The bar tender was nice to meet us, but noted the beers came directly from the tap and he would have to raise the issue with the brewer; he did offer to replace our drinks. The meal was delivered without utensils and the busser took his time, never spoke to us, and was clearly untrained. As we were finishing our meal to leave, we noted a mouse run under an adjacent table. I will not be returning. More

I couldn’t ask for more on my visits to Fegley’s Brew Works for lunch. My lunch of pretzels and the French Dip sandwich were both delicious. The beer was also very good. I was pleased they offered 5 oz pours so I could try multiple... beers while being a responsible driver. The beer I bought to take home means I can continue to enjoy this place long after my meal.7 More

Very disappointed with the service. My husband and I had just left the PPL center, we had a great time and walked around looking for a bar and a place to eat. Most of them were closing down for the night so we were excited... when we found this one opened, although the kitchen was closed. We waited patiently for one of the bartenders to get to us. When he did my husband asked if they had a mix drinks menu and the bartender not only look annoyed and irritated with my husbands question but he smarted something off and grabbed a drink menu and handed it to my husband. We left the menu at the bar and walked out. I understand being busy and feeling a bit frustrated but there should be no reason for this kind of attitude towards your customers. More

I wanted to take a moment to express my heartfelt gratitude for the exceptional experience I had hosting a surprise birthday party on September 2, 2023, at your establishment. From start to finish, it was a truly wonderful experience. I must extend my sincere thanks... to Rosanna for her outstanding coordination and support throughout the planning process. Rosanna made the entire event stress-free and seamless. The staff at Fegley's Allentown Brew Works were equally impressive. Their friendly and accommodating demeanor made all of my guests feel welcome and comfortable. What truly sets Fegley's Allentown Brew Works apart is the transparency in your contract - no hidden fees or surprises. This level of honesty and professionalism is truly commendable. I can confidently say that Fegley's Allentown Brew Works is the ultimate venue for hosting events. Thank you Rosanna for making this birthday celebration a memorable one. More

Fantastic venue for my son's wedding, the food and beverage selection and quality were really good. The venue was perfect for us, and special shout out to Rosanna, she was incredibly responsive and helpful throughout the process. Highly recommend if looking for a great unique... event experience! More

Went to have dinner on October 25th at the bar and was not greeted when we sat. The bartender tossed menus at us and said nothing. Had a attitude look on his face as though we were bothering.. decided to leave and never go back... We will however, return to the Bethlehem location as the service there is much better. More

Enjoyed a tasty steel stout along with our Rueben sandwich and shrimp tacos, both of which were tasty. Good service, reasonable prices, clean facility, COVID compliant. They were setting up for some acoustic music as we left. Metered street parking.

ABW is a great choice for a meal or just to hang out and have drinks. The food is enjoyable and the beer choices are plenty. We often go when we are headed to PPL for an event so it tends to be crowded at... those times. I am not sure what it is like on an average day. More

My daughter and Son-in-law are beer people. They love their products . The staff was great , the food was great and we all had a wonderful time. we had 90 guest and the room was perfect fit for that size. the price was also... very reasonable More

Uncovering PA

Touring Weyerbacher Brewing Company in Easton and Tasting Their Delicious Beers

Touring Weyerbacher Brewing Company in Easton, Pennsylvania

The mid-90s saw a great explosion in the craft beer scene in Pennsylvania. In those years, notable breweries such as  Troegs , Victory, Yards , and Church Brew Works opened around the state. Since then, these breweries, along with nearly 150 others around the state have pushed craft brewing to new limits and produced some of the best beers in the country.

During that same time, Weyerbacher Brewing Company opened in Easton, Pennsylvania. What started out as a small microbrew in 1995 has grown to be one of the most respected breweries in PA , and the largest brewery in the Lehigh Valley .

Weyerbacher Brewery Tour in the Lehigh Valley

During this growth, the brewery also had to move out of their original building in downtown Easton and give up the brewpub that they operated from 1998-2001. However, the resulting brewery on the edges of town allowed Weyerbacher Brewing Company to grow considerably.

Today, the brewery is home to a small tasting room at the front of their large warehouse. It’s here that you can sample some of Weyerbacher’s year-round lineup and some of their more inventive brews. In fact, there are always several beers available that you can only get at the brewery’s tasting room.

It’s also from the tasting room that tours of the brewery leave Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.

The Tasting Room at Weyerbacher Brewing Company in Easton, PA

When I visited the Lehigh Valley in April 2015, I took the opportunity to take this free tour. Tours are quite informal and leave regularly throughout the day. Patrons are encouraged to take beers with them on the tour. Unfortunately, unlike many other free brewery tours in Pennsylvania, no samples were offered for guests.

Tours of Weyerbacher Brewery take 30-45 minutes depending on the guide and the number of questions asked. The tour takes visitors through all aspects of the brewing process and explains a lot about the history of the company and how they make and package their beer.

The process of creating beer at Weyerbacher isn’t significantly different than at most of the other breweries around the state , so the tour itself doesn’t offer much new if you’ve been on tours of other modern breweries. However, that’s not to say that the tour guide didn’t do a good job.

Touring Weyerbacher Brewing Company

If you haven’t toured many breweries around the state and want to learn how beer is made, or you are a big fan of their beer, touring Weyerbacher Brewing Company in Easton is a great opportunity to learn more.

However, if you love beer, you should visit the Weyerbacher Tasting Room while in the Easton area. Weyerbacher Brewing Company is known for their big flavorful beers, so don’t expect any wimpy beers here. So, even if you’re a regular craft beer drinker, expect to have your taste buds tingled with something new at Weyerbacher.

During my visit, I tried several of their beers, and really enjoyed all the beers that I tried. I honestly don’t know if I had ever tried Weyerbacher’s beer prior to my visit, but was glad that I found Merry Monks, their Belgian-style Tripel, and both of their outstanding IPAs. I also had the chance to try a few of their special brews and found them to be quite delicious as well.

Entrance to Weyerbacher Brewery in Easton PA

Weyerbacher Brewing Company is definitely a brewery for beer lovers, and a visit to the tasting room and a brewery tour should definitely be on the list for anyone that loves full-flavored beer.

Beautiful brewery. I never knew they made so many verities of beer. I sure hope they hire me for the job I went there for today.

No tours of this brewery, as a long time consumer of SAM ADAMS beer, I am very disappointed!
