India holidays 2024 & 2025

A country by name, but a continent in scale, India in one word is diversity. To guide you where to go when faced with such rich variety, our India specialists use the experience of their own travels to create your tailor-made holiday to India.

The north is banded by the snow-crowned peaks of the Himalaya. Moving south, you pass through Rajasthan, a microcosm of India with its forts, palaces and temples, as well as the Taj Mahal . Central India shelters leopards, elephants and the Bengal tiger. In India’s northeast corner, Calcutta still exudes its colonial heritage in a landscape of Bengali mansions and neo-Gothic architecture. West-coast Mumbai is an improbable proposition — a hub of manufacturing where you can wander among Art Deco architecture or through a teeming bazaar. Down in India’s south, cruising Kerala’s  backwaters on a converted rice barge is a suitably relaxed way to embrace this region’s laid-back approach to life.

Useful information for planning your holiday in India

The official language is Hindi which is spoken by about 30% of the population, but English is often used for official or commercial purposes. Additionally, there are more than 100 other regional languages and dialects, including Punjabi, Bengali, Gujarati, and Oriya, which are widely used in the north, and Tamil and Telugu, which are common in the south. Other regional languages are Marathi, Kannada, and Malayalam. The northern Muslim population largely speak Urdu.

India’s currency is the rupee (Rs). You can’t buy rupees outside of India — tell our representative at the airport and they’ll direct you to an ATM.

Tipping for good service is expected in India and your specialist will provide more details. In some homestays and hotels, particularly in Kerala, you’ll find a communal tip box, usually in reception. Please give your tip to your host to distribute fairly if a tip box isn’t provided.

Like its cultures and languages, India’s cuisines are highly regional and what you eat and drink will vary depending on where you visit. However, there are a few things you’ll find no matter where you go. For instance, thali are traditional meals made of different curries and dal with traditional accompaniments — all served in small bowls and arranged artistically on a large tray. The exact contents vary by region.

You’ll also find an abundance of street foods everywhere from big cities to rural roads with nothing else around, which you can explore on a guided tour. Another common sight — chaiwallahs selling spiced milk tea on seemingly every corner. For a more in-depth look at India’s long history with tea, consider a visit to one of the country’s many tea plantations .

For a more hands-on approach, we can arrange private cooking classes with families across the country, from Delhi  to Tellicherry .

For the latest travel advice for India, including entry requirements, health information, and the safety and security situation, please refer to the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office website .

What you experience in India depends on where you go in this vast and varied country, but the most popular sight is the Taj Mahal. Located in the Golden Triangle, Agra’s renowned mausoleum is an ethereal sight during a sunrise visit . Nearby, you can also track tigers in Ranthambhore National Park  or meet artisans in the markets of Jaipur . In the southwest, you might relax on a rice barge-turned-houseboat through the backwaters of Kerala .

Wherever you go, we can arrange cooking lessons to help you explore the many facets of India’s regional dishes, like Rajasthani cuisine in Jodhpur  or Mopillah cuisine  in Tamil Nadu. To get to know individual ingredients better, you might tour a tea plantation .

For your first visit to India, we suggest visiting Delhi, Jaipur, and Agra, home of the Taj Mahal. Known collectively as the Golden Triangle , these three ancient cities are treasure troves of Mughal culture, including forts, palaces, and bazaars. You can also include a visit to nearby Ranthambhore National Park , to look for elusive tigers. Your specialist will help you find the region’s many hidden corners to give you a different perspective on the area. For example, you might opt to stay in rural villages  instead of the big cities.

On a second visit, you might explore Tamil Nadu, where brightly painted temples stretch to the sky. Here, you can visit the 49 shines of Ranganathaswamy Temple in Trichy, take a cooking class in Pondicherry , and then end your trip  on the backwaters of Kerala. Or you could explore Bengal culture and cuisine, starting in Calcutta . From there, take a lazy cruise through Assam  on the mighty Brahmaputra, paired with a rhino safari in Kaziranga National Park .

Our specialists will build your trip to suit your personal tastes, but you can get inspired by browsing our example itineraries .

From sumptuous palaces to humble homestays, where you stay in India depends on where you’re visiting and your personal style. The big cities offer a wide array of options including thoroughly modern five-star hotels and boutique guesthouses in well-preserved Victorian-era buildings. Outside the cities, you might opt for a stilted bungalow on a tea plantation, a remote lodge, or a safari camp in the heart of the jungle.

If you’re visiting the Golden Triangle, you can also choose to stay in a converted fort , a regal palace , or a historic family mansion known as a haveli. And further south, in Kerala, you can dive deeply into rural life with a homestay , known as theravads, or a rice barge-cum-houseboat that glides along the sleepy backwaters. Your specialist will suggest the best stays for you, but you can get an idea of the options available on our accommodation page .

The best places to see tigers in India are the Kanha, Satpura, Pench, and Tadoba national parks. Scattered across the central states of Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Chhattisgarh, they’re home to the country’s greatest concentration of Bengal tigers. You’re also likely to see India’s other wildlife , like sloth bears, leopards, deer, and elephants, who all roam freely through the protected jungles.

However, if you’re visiting Rajasthan and don’t want to venture so far afield, you can also include time in nearby Ranthambhore National Park .

You should bring clothing that covers your head, knees, and shoulders if you plan on visiting holy places in India.

A direct flight from London to Delhi takes about 8.5 hours, depending on airline.

The time zone in India is GMT +5:30.

The best way to get around in India is a combination of private driver and internal flights for longer trips. The traffic in India is dense and hectic, so we’ll arrange a private car and driver for all your trips while you’re in the country. Some of the drives might be long, but the car will be air conditioned, and your driver can suggest stops to break up the journeys.

On days when you don’t have any planned experiences, we suggest you call our partners to have a private car rather than take a taxi.

If you’re interested in taking one of India’s trains, we can arrange for your ticket. Our representative will meet you at your hotel and escort you to your seat inside the train, cutting through the complexities at the station. As you disembark, you’ll find another representative waiting on the platform.

Yes, if you hold a UK passport, you need a Tourist Visa to enter India. Additionally, your passport must be valid for at least six months from your date of arrival into India and have two completely blank pages.

Most UK passport holders can apply online between 120 and 4 days prior to your departure date. However, if your passport was issued by one of the Crown Dependencies (Jersey, Guernsey or the Isle of Man), you might not be able to use the e-Visa system. Instead, you’ll have to book an appointment at the Indian High Commission. If you’re visiting West Bengal, Sikkim, or Assam, you might be required to submit a passport photo or photocopy of your passport at each hotel — we suggest you arrange these documents before you arrive. In Sikkim, please bring spare passport photos with you for your Sikkim permit, which you’ll obtain at the state border.

If you’re not a UK passport holder, you can check the visa requirements here .

Your doctor can provide you with vaccine advice for India, but you should also ensure you’re up to date with the recommended vaccinations for your home country. You can also check the suggested vaccinations on the Travel Health Pro website .

Frequently asked questions, why is jaipur referred to as the ‘pink city’.

During Prince Albert’s 1876 tour of India, Maharaja Sawai Ram Singh II determined that by beautifying his city and painting it terracotta pink (widely known as a hospitable and welcoming colour), the Prince would be enticed to visit Jaipur. This would ultimately give the maharaja the chance to strengthen ties with the British aristocracy and establish a bond with Royal family. After a successful visit, the maharaja then went as far as passing a law to make it illegal to paint any building in Jaipur any other colour than pink.

The Best Time to Visit India

October through to April for most of the plains incluidng Rajasthan, Kerala and the wildlife parks of Central India when it is not too hot, the skies are clear and the nights cool.

Summer - May through to September  for the hills & mountain regions  - but if you want to pick up a bargain in gloriously air-conditioned palalce hotels, nows the time for you!

Whether you are planning your first-trip to India or have visited many times, we have broken down when the best time to visit India is by region.

About our India Holidays

From Megasthenes to Michael Palin, India has enthralled travellers for literally thousands of years, and its modern incarnation remains a country of incomparable fascination – whether you’re coming for the first time, or as a seasoned veteran, TransIndus are the UK specialists as the leading India travel company can help you make the most of the destination.

The main problem facing any would-be traveller to the subcontinent, experienced or first timer, is deciding where to start. The answer depends on what style of holiday to India you have in mind, of course. But roughly speaking, if this is your first tour of India you’ll probably be setting your sights on one of two regions: either the “Golden Triangle” of Delhi (the capital), Agra (site of the Taj Mahal) and Jaipur (India’s flamboyant ‘Pink City’), with a possible extension deeper into the desert state of Rajasthan or Kerala and the historic highlights of neighbouring Tamil Nadu.

10 Things about India That Foreigners Know Before Traveling To India

India is massive, fantastic, and also packed with culture. It's filled with colors, architecture as well as history. The country has unique traditions and offers mouth-watering food.

1. Shopping in India is Costlier than in the USA

Well, taking into consideration the value of the Indian Rupee against that of the US Dollar, it would be quite fair to assume that shopping in India is cost-effective. Nevertheless, fairly ironically, shopping in India can become rather a rough deal.

2. The Traffic is Insane

Believe the hype and the movies that show cars not sticking in the same lanes. In Delhi there are a great lot of stop signs and red as well as green lights, however regardless of the rules no one seems to give a damn as well as nobody seems to be doing anything about it. You cannot pay me to drive in India. Driving in Kashmir and various other cities like Lucknow, Aligarh, and Meerut is also worse. I haven’t seen that many traffic lights and people indicate their turns by honking.

3. Do not have the Street food or water

This is a given. Food is amazing however if you're not used to the street food you're most likely going to get sick. The most of the diseases are likewise water-born so as instead to tap water stick to mineral water or sodas, specifically if you're traveling to smaller villages and towns.

4. Indian festivals

With so many religious beliefs and cultures, you will certainly across fairs, events, as well as merriment of all kinds.

Whether it is the shimmering lights of Diwali, the colors of Holi, the extravaganza of Durga Puja, Navaratri, Onam, Dusshera, Id Ul Fitr and Christmas, you’ll encounter indigenous customs, amazing Indian cuisine, and total festive abandonment.

5. Hands and Feet

There's a whole hierarchy of the body parts in Hinduism. The head is superior to the rest of the body, and the feet are lowest on the rung.

Feet are considered dirty in India, so remove your shoes before you step into someone's residence. Do not tip on anything important and also if you do, immediately express your apologies.

6. Become a expert at bargaining

Do not get intimidated by the fact that you're a foreigner. When going to street market or shops, negotiating is natural in India. In my experience, vendors will certainly often give you a high price first reasoning that you're 'foreign' which you're not going to know it's worth. Offer bargaining a shot. Don't afraid to argued.

7. McDonald's India has a Vegetarian Menu

McDonalds' is a household name in almost every part of the world. As well as yet, not many outside India may have heard of McAloo Tikki or McSpicy Paneer burgers. Well, that’s because these are some of the items available on the popular food chain’s vegetarian menu, an exclusive offering for the Indian market.

8. Arranged Marriages Work Amazingly Well

Generations of happily-married Indian couples are a definite proof of this. The idea of a arranged marriage, which is so common in India, might appear fairly strange to foreigners. Yet to their surprise, they discover that most couples they interact with have had arranged marriages, which last a lifetime.

9. Not Every City is Hot and Humid

Indian summer is legendary for the extremely high temperatures. Travelers visiting throughout this season expect to be soaked in sweat. While that is certainly true for cities like Mumbai, Varanasi, or Chennai, it is not generally applicable. So, much to their awe and alleviation, international travelers locate that many cities like Ooty, Manali, as well as Shimla have a cool weather, also during the hottest of summers.

10. Not All Indian Food is Spicy

Indian food is renowned worldwide for being exceptionally spicy. While many of our dishes do often tend to be hot, there are just as many that are tasty without being seasoned with copious quantity of flavors.

7 essential tech travel tips and preparation skills for your next trip

If you're traveling with tech for work or play, here are the best tips and tricks to prepare you for anything.

HP Spectre x360 laptop on couch.

If you're planning on taking a trip with your laptop, tablet, phone, or other devices in tow, you need to come prepared for any eventuality. As someone who tends to bring my favorite tech with me on both work trips and personal vacations, I've picked up a few tips and tricks that will make the process easier for you.

So, whether you're a business person traveling to conventions or simply someone who likes to take their favorite devices with them when they travel, these are some useful things to remember when traveling with tech.

1. Bring a reliable power bank and pack your cables carefully

Dell XPS 17 (9730) cables.

Whenever I travel, I tend to use my phone a lot to take pictures, follow directions, keep notes, and record interviews. By midday, it's not unusual for my phone battery to be low. That's why I always travel with a large-capacity power bank, which lets me juice my phone (and sometimes my laptop) back up while out and about.

I highly recommend the Lenovo Go USB-C 2000mAh Power Bank. This battery pack features a built-in USB-C cable that tucks into the main device body. In other words, you don't have to worry about losing a separate charging cable because this one is attached. It's a very convenient accessory. Check out our list of the best laptop power banks for more suggestions.

Additionally, you'll likely need to pack charging adapters or other cables for the journey. Take time to carefully wind these and place them carefully into your luggage so they don't get damaged. The last thing you want is to discover in the middle of an event that you damaged your laptop adapter to the point that it no longer works. We don't want your laptop running out of battery at a crucial moment.

10 Lenovo Go Usb C Laptop Power Bank Right

I love Lenovo's power bank because it has a built-in USB-C cable that wraps into the main device for convenient charging. You don't have to worry about keeping track of a separate USB-C cable. There are two USB-C ports with charging up to 65W and a USB-A port with a max output of 18W to meet your device needs.

2. Don't use public Wi-Fi, public charging stations, or free USB thumb drives

It's best to avoid public USB charging ports.

It is shockingly easy for people to harm your laptop or other device while you're out and about. Here are three things to avoid in order to keep you and your tech safe:

  • Don't use public Wi-Fi: Your information can be stolen on malicious Wi-Fi, and that's why some shady people make free Wi-Fi networks. To significantly reduce the chance of potential attacks, only connect to trusted Wi-Fi that requires a password. For instance, you might be able to learn the hotel Wi-Fi password or a password to a conference center Wi-Fi.
  • Stay away from public USB charging stations: As far as public charging stations go, people have been hacking USB-A and USB-C public charging stations to make them spread malware. So you really only want to rely on a power outlet charging for your laptop or other devices when you are in public.
  • Refuse free thumb drives: Finally, those free USB thumb drives handed out at events can easily contain viruses that will spread to your laptop or desktop the minute you plug them in. The thing is, it often isn't even the company that handed them out that caused the problem, but rather the company that manufactured the thumb drives. As such, it's better just to refuse a free thumb drive when it's offered or to drop it in the trash if you get one.

3. Charge up devices before leaving and make sure you have the right power adapter for your travel destination

EPICKA Universal Travel Adapter in use.

On long flights or train rides, I typically end up using my laptop to work while in transit. If I don't have any pressing work to do, I pass the time by playing my ROG Ally , a PC gaming handheld . The thing here is that each plane is hit or miss when it comes to having decent power outlets. So, you need to remember to take some time to charge up any laptop, gaming handheld, power bank, tablet, or other device you plan on using before heading to the airport or train station.

Similarly, if you're traveling to a different country, make sure you pack the correct power adapter or get a universal power adapter so you can charge up your devices while away. The EPICKA Travel Universal Adapter is an excellent option since it provides USB-A and USB-C ports for charging in addition to an EU, UK, and USA/AUS wall plug. You'll always be ready for power regardless of where you go.

This travel adapter provides different options making it compatible with 150 different countries. Simply use the correct adapter to plug it into the wall and then take advantage of the connections it provides.

4. Grab an eSim card for your phone and/or laptop before leaving

HP Dragonfly Pro (2023)

My latest work trip sent me to beautiful Taiwan, a country I had never visited before. Knowing that I would need to work while there, I made sure to pack my HP Elitebook Dragonfly, a laptop capable of LTE via SIM card. If you don't have a laptop capable of mobile data, you might want to check out our list of the best LTE and 5G laptops . I highly recommend choosing a smaller laptop since they are lighter and easier to work with at events where you'll be toting them around all day. Not to mention, surface space is often limited, so you'll be happy with a smaller form factor.

While it is possible to purchase a physical SIM card for your laptop, the far easier route is to purchase a completely digital eSIM card that specifically works in the country you're traveling to. In my case, I used a service called Airalo to purchase an eSIM card for Taiwan. There are multiple plans to choose starting with seven days and 1GB. You can add it to your purchase plan if you need additional Gigabytes or days. Note that eSIM prices vary depending on the country you are visiting.

Make sure to purchase the eSIM before traveling to a different country. The eSIM shouldn't activate until the laptop detects that it is in the right location. You can also manually determine when the eSIM is active on your Windows laptop. Remember, If you can help it, you don't want to wait until you're in the country to purchase the eSIM card because it might be hard to locate a safe Wi-Fi network to connect to so you can even make the purchase.

Airalo

<a href="https://airalo.pxf.io/c/221109/1268485/15608?subId1=hawk-custom-tracking&sharedId=hawk&u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.airalo.com%2F" data-link-merchant="airalo.com""> Airalo

Purchase an eSIM for your compatible laptop or phone while visiting another country. This way, you'll be able to access the internet regardless of if you have a Wi-Fi connection. It's especially helpful for when you'll be traveling around and are unsure of if you'll have a good Wi-Fi connection.

5. To avoid losing important info, back up important files before going on your trip

You never know what's going to happen on a trip. It's possible your devices could get lost, stolen, or damaged beyond repair, so back up your important files before heading out on your trip. When it comes to laptops and tablets, you can easily back up your data to the cloud via Microsoft OneDrive or Google Drive (you can see our OneDrive vs Google Drive comparison for more info). There are different storage plans for either service, so you can pay for the amount of space that best fits your needs.

Of course, while on your trip, be careful about leaving your valuable tech alone. Someone could tamper with your belongings, or someone might just steal them. For example, my husband borrowed my laptop for a work trip a few years back. At one point, he had a quick meeting in a building, so he left my laptop in his rental car. Unfortunately, a thief noticed, smashed the rental car's window, and ran off with everything. I lost everything on the laptop because I hadn't backed it up before he left. It was a hard lesson, but I have never made the same mistake again.

Microsoft OneDrive

<a href="https://click.linksynergy.com/deeplink?id=kXQk6%2AivFEQ&mid=24542&u1=hawk-custom-tracking&murl=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.microsoft.com%2Fen-sg%2Fmicrosoft-365%2Fonedrive%2Fonline-cloud-storage" data-link-merchant="microsoft.com""> Microsoft OneDrive

Access your documents and files from anywhere by putting them on the OneDrive cloud. Even if something happens to your laptop or phone, your data will remain safe online. Prices vary depending on storage options.

Google Drive

<a href="https://workspace.google.com/intl/en_sg/lp/drive/" data-link-merchant="workspace.google.com""> Google Drive

Google Drive makes it very easy to upload images, docs, spreadsheets, and other files so you can access them from any devices you log into. It's a fantastic service for backing up important information before a trip.

6. Use a bag with ample space for tech and make sure it's easy to pull everything out at security checkpoints

Waterfield Air Porter Travel Backpack under airplane seat.

PART 1: Choose a bag with plenty of tech space I try my hardest to bring as few bags as possible with me whenever I travel for work — ideally, only two. That way, I don't have to worry about checked luggage potentially getting lost during the flight. I also prefer this since it means I don't have to keep track of a bunch of bags while moving to and from the hotel. Of course, if you think you'll be bringing anything back with you when you head home, you should also plan on having a bit of extra space in your bags.

When I need to bring a decent entourage of tech with me, I use my Waterfield Air Porter Travel Backpack because it provides plenty of designated spaces for my various devices. But, if I expect to be gone longer, I bring my 50L laptop backpack since it offers a lot of room for additional clothes and still fits easily on airplanes. In addition to my main travel bag, I also have a slim, over-the-shoulder Solo New York Sling Bag. It fits my small laptop, a power bank, a notepad, and a pen, so I'm always ready for anything without being too bulky on the go.

Now, if you already have a good travel bag, make sure it provides enough padding to protect your laptop and other devices. If it doesn't, you might want to check out our list of the best laptop bags and sleeves .

Solo New York Universal Tablet Sling Bag.

I prefer to travel with a small laptop since it's lighter and easier to work with at limited-space events. Instead of toting a larger backpack around, I put my laptop and crucial accessories in this over-the-shoulder sling bag.

YOREPEK 50L Laptop Backpack.

When I know I'll be gone for long stretches, I always take this 50L laptop backpack with me. There's plenty of room for my various cables and accessories. Plus, it's a perfect size for putting underneath the chair in front of me when I'm on the airplane.

PART 2: Pack your tech in such a way that it's easy to take out at security checkpoints.

This was a rookie mistake I made the first couple of times I traveled with my various devices. Getting through TSA or customs checkpoints at airports is already a stressful and awkward time, so you'll want to pack your bag in such a way that all of the tech devices that need to be pulled out for screening are easy to access. For me, this means making my laptop, tablet, ROG Ally , and sometimes my Nintendo Switch easy to reach in a hurry. You can check out my Waterfield Air Porter Backpack review to see more details on the bag I specifically travel with.

Waterfield Air Porter Travel Backpack.

This bag makes for the perfect conference traveling companion thanks to its designated space for two laptops and plenty of pockets for storing cables, computer mice, power banks, and other devices. What's more, it's specifically designed to fit the standard space under the seat in front of you on an airplane, so you don't have to worry about it being to big for convenient air travel.

7. XREAL glasses give you additional screens as well as privacy when working on sensitive topics

Red XREAL Air 2 glasses on Rebecca Spear.

On the flight home from a recent trip, I wanted to get a head start on embargoed work, but I didn't want anyone sitting near me in the airport or on the plane to see what I was working on. Enter XREAL AR glasses.

With these USB-C glasses plugged into my laptop, I altered display settings to Second Screen Only and then I was able to privately view NDA PDFs and my own in-progress articles behind the glasses lenses where no one else could see. As such, I didn't have to worry about anyone around me discovering anything they shouldn't and so I was able to write up a decent amount during the 11-hour flight back.

These are XREAL's top of the line glasses, capable of both AR and VR. Plug them into your laptop via a USB-C cable and you'll be able to see info displayed on the micro OLED displays. They're perfect for when you want to focus or have some privacy.

XREAL Air 2 Pro | $449 at Amazon

These more affordable AR glasses make it easier work with multiple displays from one laptop. Simply turn your head and you can view different windows on different screens. It's a great way to keep sensitive or embargoed information private.

BONUS: Tips for going to another country where they speak a different language

Google Translate app translating menus and notices from Chinese to English.

  • Use the free Google Translate app to translate text signs and menus: This only works if you have a mobile data connection, and it must be the app, not the browser version. Basically, you can use the app to take pictures of signs, menus, notices, and more in foreign countries and then use the app to translate the text to your language. This made it so much easier to order food or head to the right buildings when I was in Taiwan since I don't know how to read or speak Chinese.
  • Use Google Maps to hear pronunciations: If you search for a place on Google Maps and then pull the tab up, you'll see a speaker icon. Tap on this and you can hear how a place is pronounced in the local language. This is helpful for communicating with locals when needed. For instance, confirming with an Uber driver where you are headed.
  • Request a business card from your hotel: If you're visiting a country that speaks a different language, ask the hotel for a business card. That way, you can always give it to a taxi driver or ask a local where to find it, even if you don't know how to read (or pronounce) the name of the hotel.

Google Translate app: Free For Android | For iPhone

Google Translate app: Free <a href="https://play.google.com/store/apps/details" data-link-merchant="play.google.com""> For Android | <a href="https://go.redirectingat.com/?id=23432X820454&xcust=hawk-custom-tracking&xs=1&url=https%3A%2F%2Fapps.apple.com%2Fus%2Fapp%2Fgoogle-translate%2Fid414706506&sref" data-link-merchant="SkimLinks - apple.com"" data-link-merchant="play.google.com""> For iPhone

Take pictures of text you cannot read (such as menus, notices, signs, etc.) and then use the app to translate any detected languages. You'll be able to get around more easily.

Be prepared and ready for anything

HP's new Pavilion 16-inch laptop

- Best laptop bags and sleeves - Best power banks - Best LTE and 5G laptops - How to backup your laptop automatically

You never know what's going to happen when on a trip, but if you're prepared, the experience can go a lot more smoothly. Specifically, when traveling with tech, you want to have a few things on hand before stepping on the airplane. Then, when out and about, you need to be careful of your devices so you don't accidentally allow any harm to befall them.

One of the most important parts of travel is having a bag that's well-sized and specifically designed to carry a lot of tech. With specific slots for a laptop and plenty of pockets for accessories, you're more likely to have the things you need on you at all times. It might also be helpful to have a smaller sling bag so you can travel and get around busy event floors without bumping into people.

As for those traveling internationally, make sure you purchase a universal adapter so you can plug your devices in when necessary. Additionally, I highly recommend using a 5G or LTE laptop so you can always have access to the internet. Just make sure you purchase an eSIM so mobile data is possible.

Colorful India with Taj Mahal & Rajasthan Tour

Colorful India with Taj Mahal & Rajasthan

It was not an expensive tour and some aspects will reflect that. The hotels aren't 4/5 star but they are clean I'd in a bit of disrepair in some situations. My driver Lakhan Singh made me feel safe and cared for which was very important as a solo traveller and I'd recommend him to other solo women. If I wanted roadside chai he'd ask me to stay in the car and he'd bring me the chai so I didn't have to deal with stares or rude questions, and when my tour ran a bit late he checked in repeatedly to make sure everything was ok. The tour guides are a range of skill and experience but they'll be different for every city. My favorites were Nipendra in Udaipur and Bhawani in Jaipur. They customized the tour on the fly for me when I expressed that I wanted different experiences. If I were to do it again the only change I'd make is the length. A day extra in Delhi and Jaipur would have been ideal for me, and while I'm sure the company would have made those adjustments for me, it was my first trip to India and I wasn't expecting to be overwhelmed by the beautiful sights.

Our Kathmandu visit was action packed. We visited many historical sites in and around the city. We also had a Mt. Everest flight see. Our guide, Navaraj Shrestha, was punctual, knowledgeable, and informative. He and the very competent driver managed to find convenient drop off and pick up points to visit monuments. Raj has a good sense of humor and was patient. We had a wonderful time and hope to return for a longer visit. Freddy & Jim Powell

I have recently returned from a 10 day private tour around Rajasthan where we were looked after like royalty by our wonderful driver Rakesh - a credit to the company. He was charming ;courteous with a good sense of humour and truly made our holiday special. Tour Radar & World Travel Experiences were also excellent - tailor making the holiday to my needs. I loved vibrant and wonderful Rajasthan and all the 5* hotels were a welcome sanctuary at the end of the day. The only exception is the Crystal Sarovar in Agra which is very tired and definitely not a 5* hotel. If you want to experience true luxury I would recommend opting for 5* deluxe hotels or Heritage Hotels. We stayed in a unique Heritage property in Rohet Garh - just stunning ! The guides in each location ranged from excellent to good. A special shout out to Vina in Jaipur - the first female guide in Rajasthan and by far the best on the whole trip. I wouldn't hesitate in using Tour Radar again for my next holiday and will indeed be recommending them to my friends and family.

Indian students begin 'Fair Visa, Fair Chance' campaign in UK

An indian student group in the uk is fighting for the continuation of a visa route allowing graduates to work there for 2 years after their studies. this visa is popular with indian students and helps universities financially. indian students are worried that a uk government review might change that..

International students in Australia

  • UK post-study visa allows students 2 years of work rights after graduation
  • The UK Home Office has granted 213,250 visas for the route in 2020-21
  • Changing the graduate route visa could harm Britain's economy too

An organisation representing Indian students in the UK has launched a campaign advocating for the continuation of the graduate route visa that allows people to work there after their education. The campaign launched on Thursday is called 'Fair Visa, Fair Chance'.

This graduate route visa allows international graduates to work in the UK for two years after completion of their degrees. The process is under review by the UK government.

The National Indian Students and Alumni Union (Nisau) UK, which initially pushed for the visa enabling international graduates to work for two years after their degree, is concerned that the ongoing review could undo the progress achieved.

UK Home Secretary James Cleverly has tasked the independent Migration Advisory Committee (MAC) to review the Graduate Route visa to ensure it remains "fit for purpose".

"The ability to work for two years post-graduation helps international students to earn money to help pay for their degrees and enable some to get valuable work experience as well as to continue to build strong links with the UK," said Lord Karan Bilimoria, Co-Chair of the All Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on International Students and patron of NISAU UK.

ECONOMIC CONTRIBUTION OF INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS

Bilimoria also cautioned that reducing the Graduate Route could harm Britain, as international students contribute Great British Pound (GBP) 42 billion to the UK economy.

"Britain would be shooting itself in the foot," said Bilimoria.

"We are in a global race and have to offer post-graduation work opportunities that are attractive in competing with countries, such as the United States of America, Canada, and Australia. The fear of the removal of the two-year post-graduation work visa is sending out unnecessary and damaging negative messages around the world, and universities are already seeing a huge decline in international students' applications," he added.

Since the graduate route visa reintroduction for the 2020-21 group of international students, the Home Office of the UK has granted a total of 213,250 visas for the route.

DEFENCE OF GRADUATE ROUTE VISA

Indians have consistently been the largest group granted leave to remain, accounting for 43% of grants last year, reported PTI.

Arora expressed concern that without this pathway, university finances may collapse, impacting both international and domestic students.

The NISAU UK has been invited to present evidence to MAC and plans to share insights from its annual India-UK Achievers Honours programme.

Recent figures from the Universities and Colleges Admissions Service (UCAS) show a 4% drop in applications from India to British universities.

However, the Home Office pointed to MAC analysis which revealed that the number of international post-graduate students attending institutions with the lowest UCAS entry requirements has increased by over 250% between 2018 and 2022, bringing its mantra of attracting the "brightest and the best" into question.

MAC's annual report, finalised before the review, was announced in Parliament at the end of last year.

"More fundamentally, we suggest that the government needs to decide what the purpose of the Graduate Route is. If its primary objective is to enhance the offer to international students who choose to study in the UK and so increase the number of international students in higher education, then it appears to have been a resounding success," MAC said.
