The beautiful, custom-decorated space includes an inviting king-size bed, cozy seating area and amazing spa bathroom creates an intimate setting, perfect for sharing laughs, enjoying each other and making memories together. 

Each authentic Safari tent has hardwood floors, gorgeous rugs, custom light fixtures, stylish seating, and glamourous details, while also providing opportunities for experiencing nature –  watch the deer and birds with your morning Nespresso, toast the setting sun on the front porch, enjoy a private bubble bath under the stars on the back deck.

Each tent is uniquely decorated with handcrafted furniture, antiques, luxury bedding, and beautiful custom decor.  They all come with the exact amenities. Kingfisher is wheelchair accessible with a ramp and other features. 

With up-close parking, a long ramp, and an extra-large shower, we’ve designed Kingfisher as a wheelchair-accessible glamping space that is perfect for everyone!

The middle tent, Chisum, is decorated a bit more masculine, with leather furniture, lots of earthy wood tones, a large handmade wood headboard and unique art and light fixtures.

Located on the end, nearest the fire pit, Shaka is a glamper’s dream space with bright white furnishing, light wood tones and brass accents. Deer can be spotted grazing nearby.

Thirty miles southwest of Austin is the quaint little village of Wimberley, known for it’s creekside town square full of shops and dining, and having not one, but two of the most famous swimming holes in Texas, “Blue Hole” and “Jacob’s Well,” both on the clear and cool Cypress Creek. 

Wimberley is also the home to Wimberley Market Days, the 2nd largest Flea Market in the state, Emily Ann Theater, wineries and breweries, hiking and biking trails, the Blanco River, multiple restaurants, amazing views and now, to Spoon Mountain Glamping.

In search of history? Calshot Castle might whet your whistle — an artillery fort constructed by Henry VIII in the 16th century. If you’re a fan of charming little villages or motor vehicles, a trip to Beaulieu should be high up your list, too. Their National Motor Museum is a day out itself!

For fun-filled family adventure, the New Forest Water Park might be worth a visit, with wakeboarding, an aqua park, kayaks and fun inflatables.

If you're looking for a family day trip that's even closer to ours, Cornish Trevaskis Farm is 5 minutes up the road. With animals to see and a 'pick your own' to enjoy, it doesn't get much more rural Cornwall than this.

Lower Sabie Rest Camp

With its soothing riverine views and Lebombo Mountain skyline in the background, the Lower Sabie Restcamp hugs the banks of the perennial Sabie River in the Kruger National Park. The camp is an exhibition of the natural wealth of the area, surrounded by lush green vegetation and attracting a multitude of game that can easily be spotted from the deck overlooking the water. The river itself, enveloped by abundant foliage, is populated by cormorants, herons, kingfishers and storks.

Accommodation ‍

• The Campsites are equipped with power points, ablution blocks and communal kitchens. Please ensure to provide your own tent and camping equipment,  caravan or motor home.
• The Huts vary between 1,2,3 and 4 bed units. Each hut has a fridge and air-conditioning. Communal bathrooms and communal kitchens for your convenience.
• Two and three-bed Bungalows equipped with private bathroom (most with showers, one with a bath), kitchenettes, fridge and air-conditioning. You have a choice of with or without perimeter view, depending on availability.
• Permanent furnished Safari tents (some accessible for wheelchairs), fully equipped with 2 single beds, a fridge, overhead fan and small veranda. You have a choice of with or without river view or bush view, depending on availability.
• Family bungalows (2 separate bedrooms), fully equipped with a kitchenette and en-suite bathrooms. Located in budget accommodation area of camp, but with private braai area.
• The Guest House is situated in a prime position of the camp, with river view. It is well-equipped with a kitchen, multiple bedrooms and bathrooms. Limited channel DSTV television is provided. (No microwave oven). ‍

Activities & Facilities

‍ The Lower Sabie Camp offers adventure in the form of guided bush walks and safari game drives, all under the supervision of well informed and keen professional field guides. Important to note: Children under the age of six years old are not permitted on the safari game vehicle and children under the age of twelve years old are restricted from guided bush walks.

Guests can visit the Sunset Dam or take in the Nthandanyati Bird Hide, which is 11km from the camp.

Facilities at the camp: Information at the reception area, public telephones, a post box, restaurant, shop, cafeteria, laundromat, filling station, communal kitchens and communal bathrooms, cutlery and plate hampers for hire at reception at an additional cost to the client(depending on availability), basic on-site first-aid assistance, Eco Information Centre, a day visitor picnic area in the camp and a public swimming pool.

Cellphone reception is available, however it is not guaranteed due to unforeseen circumstances.

Wow! Shann was and is fantastic! She figured out a way to make our entire trip work. We are going on a 2 week trip to South Africa and Botswana. Adults Only Roar & Snore

• Ages 21 & up

Join us for an adults-only adventure camping at the Safari Park! You’ll explore the Safari Park after dark, enjoy classic camp activities, and hear amazing stories about San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance’s conservation work around the globe.

Girl Scouts Roar & Snore

• Ages 5 & up

Bring your troop to the Safari Park for a sleepover they will never forget! Designed especially for Girl Scouts ages five and older and their troop leaders or adult chaperones, this Roar & Snore sleepover offers a special Safari Park experience that you can only get at night.   All campers will receive a special Roar & Snore patch for participating. 

School & Youth Nights Roar & Snore

• Grades 3–12 with adults

Bring your students or youth groups to the Safari Park for a sleepover they will never forget! Designed especially for school and youth groups, this special Roar & Snore Safari offers a way to experience the Park in a whole new way that is perfect for your group’s next adventure.

• 12 x 16-foot interior
• Queen bed plus two cots

Supreme Roar & Snore

• Must have a valid Roar & Snore ticket
• Includes Flightline Safari, Night Vision Safari, Exclusive Viewing of Wildlife Ambassador Encounters & Wildlife Safari
• Guests ages 8–15 must be accompanied by paid adult; maximum 3 children per adult

Upgrade to a Supreme Roar & Snore Safari package for a whole new level of adventure! You’ll begin your evening by soaring into camp on our 2/3-mile Flightline Safari zip line. At night, take a Night Vision Safari to view wildlife of Africa and Asia through night vision binoculars. After breakfast, you’ll enjoy reserved VIP viewing of wildlife ambassador encounters. Finally, conclude your overnight experience with a Wildlife Safari into expansive savanna habitats in the back of covered, open-air safari truck for an up-close view of an amazing variety of wildlife.

To participate in the Flightline Safari component, participants must be at least 8 years old; weigh between 60 and 300 pounds; meet the minimum height requirement of 48"; wear secure, close-toed shoes; and fit comfortably in the harness.

Under Chandelier of the Tent Roof Intercession Chapel

View from under the church chandelier on the ceiling interior of the main chapel of St. Basil's Cathedral , the Chapel of the Intercession of the Holy Virgin, with a tent roof structure. This Chapel was one of the earliest architectural experiments that placed two octagons sharing a ribbed roof on top of a square. This started a whole new trend in architecture. However, a tall structure like this with a small base plate is very difficult to heat, and cannot be used by many people praying at the same time, which is one of the reasons why very few churches like this were ever built. Tented roofs are thought to have originated in the Russian North, as they prevented snow from piling up on wooden buildings during long winters. This roof style was widely used in 16th- and 17th-century Russian architecture for churches, although there are examples of this style also in other parts of Europe.
