Racing fans start your engines and prepare to explore Daytona Beach’s deep-rooted motorsports heritage! Our Motorsports Trail takes you on a Daytona Beach area tour from scenic beachfronts to museums, guiding you through the history of racing, beginning with a stop at Birthplace of Speed Park in Ormond Beach where the first automobile race was held in 1903.

Just a few minutes south in Daytona Beach is the “World Center of Racing” – Daytona International Speedway . This storied superspeedway is open daily for tours and includes a visit to the Motorsports Hall of Fame of America which celebrates all forms of motorsports, from stock cars and sports cars to motorcycles and powerboating and more.

The museum featured on this trail are also invaluable sources of auto racing history. The Racing Zone permanent exhibit at the Halifax Historical Museum  pays tribute to the early days of auto racing and its pioneers.

Motorcycles have been a part of the area’s racing history just as long as autos. In fact, an Indian motorcycle also participated in the area’s first automobile race back in 1903. In recognition, the trail features stops highlighting motorcycling in the area, including Teddy Morse's Daytona Harley-Davidson  and the Daytona 200 Monument located on the Daytona Beach Boardwalk.

No motorsports history tour of the area would be complete without a visit to picturesque Ponce Inlet to the sites of the original North Turn and South Turn of the old beach road course. The legendary, NASCAR-sanctioned course was used for auto and motorcycle racing from 1948-1960.

Along the way, you’ll find the trail is peppered with restaurants and nighttime entertainment spots that are relevant to motorsports history in the area, including the historic Ormond Garage , Main Street Station , Racing’s North Turn Beach Bar and Grill and the Streamline Hotel – recognized as the birthplace of NASCAR.

So, what are you waiting, for? Start your engine and explore!

Check out the Ultimate Daytona Beach Trail Guide which features Hiking and Biking Trails, Ale Trail , Mural Trail , Iconic Trail , African American Heritage Trail and the Statues and Monuments Trail . To watch a brief video overview of Daytona Beach area trails and tours, click here .

DAYTONA International Speedway Tours in Daytona, Florida

While visiting Daytona Beach earlier this year, we knew there was one stop in the city that boasts the “World’s Most Famous Beach” that we had to go check out…The DAYTONA International Speedway!

Daytona and Racing

What’s the connection to car racing and the famous Daytona beach, you might ask? It all goes back to the turn of the 20th century. There’s a well-known joke around the automotive industry that goes, “When was the first car race? When they built the second car.” This was true well before gigantic racetracks like DAYTONA.

Racing really got it’s start on the hard packed, sandy beaches in Daytona, Florida. The rich and famous would travel from all over to race their automobiles on Daytona’s 23 miles of shoreline.

As vehicles became less of a rich-man’s sport and more accessible to everyone, the desire to raise the bar on the new-found sport was realized in 1959 with the construction of the DAYTONA International Speedway. Now known as the World Center of Racing, the Speedway is a racing lover’s dream come true!

Behind the Scenes at the Speedway

The DAYTONA Speedway offers fans a behind-the-scenes look at everything that it takes to put on a race and offers a taste of what it’s like to be on the racetrack and win the DAYTONA 500. The Speedway offers 3 different types of tours to accommodate a variety of budgets and needs. You can find more information about each of these tours below. We were invited to the All-Access Tour, which was 90 minutes long, and was jam packed with fun and information.

All-Access Tour

Our tour started by entering the main building which had a cafe and fun things to look at. When it was time for our tour, we headed outside to meet our tour guide who was very knowledgeable about the Speedway, as well as the history of racing in general. He was so much fun and absolutely awesome with our kids!

Our 6 year old daughter became his personal helper and he gave her the job of carrying his mic box, which she totally loved and kept her involved in the tour. So sweet! We boarded our tour tramcar and headed off towards the track.

Daytona Speedway Tour

Our tramcar drove us around the entire racetrack while we learned about the history of automotive racing and the Speedway. I had never been to a racetrack before and I was absolutely amazed at just how vertical the racetrack gets near the wall. It’s one thing to hear that it’s a 31 degree bank, but seeing it up close is an entirely different thing!

Next we rode over to the exclusive Fan Zone for a walk through Gatorade Victory Lane for a fun photo op. There are actually 2 extra special photo opportunities on this tour, both of which you are allowed to use your own camera and the professional photographer on-site will take the photos for you at no extra charge. This was such a refreshing change from other tours and things we’ve been on before. Our pics turned out pretty awesome!

Daytona Speedway Pits

Media Deadline Room

The next part of the tour was access to the Media Deadline Room, where journalists from all over the world have come to interview the winners of the DAYTONA 500. This is where your second photo op will take place as you get to sit at the winner’s table. So much fun!

Daytona Speedway Inside the Media Room

Motorsports Hall of Fame of America

Our tour ended at the Motorsports Hall of Fame of America – a massive museum showcasing huge displays from every style and generation of racing. There’s a mock-up of a 1950s era gas station that my youngest had fun playing around in.

Daytona Speedway Museum Amoco Station

These are the descriptions and pricing info for all 3 types of tours offered by the DAYTONA International Speedway. Find one that’s right for you and make it part of your family’s trip to Daytona Beach!

Speedway Tour Climb aboard one of our open-air trams and you will be transported into a world unto itself: the “World Center of Racing.” As you enter the “World Center of Racing”, a flurry of action, color and grandeur will explode before your eyes and you’ll know that you’re on hallowed ground. Experience the 31-degree high banks for yourself as the tram coasts along turns 3 and 4 before finding yourself walking in the footsteps of legends past and present as you climb atop the podium in Gatorade Victory Lane for a photo. End this thirty-minute Speedway Tour by standing next to the car of this year’s DAYTONA 500 champion, left in the same condition as the day it captured the checkered flag. Following your tour, fans can now access the new Motorsports Hall of Fame of America that is now housed in the DIS Ticket and Tours Building, showcasing spectacular displays honoring all forms of motorsports: Stock Cars, Sports Cars, Open-Wheel, Motorcycles, Drag Racing, Land Speed Records, Powerboating and Aviation. Tips for Visiting Daytona Speedway

  • Arrive early for your tour, especially for the tours that don’t allow advanced ticket sales. You don’t want to arrive just to find that the tours are all sold out for the day.
  • You will be outside for the majority of the tour, so you’ll want to dress appropriately for the weather.
  • Don’t forget the sunscreen! Florida heat is NO JOKE!
  • Bring water! Seriously…you’ll thank me.
  • The tour is not stroller-friendly. If you’ll have really little ones with you, consider baby wearing for this activity. It will make your life so much easier getting on and off the tramcar!
  • There are options for guests with mobility issues. Contact the Speedway office for more info.
  • Don’t forget your camera or smartphone!

SpaceX late-night rocket launch: Where to watch from Daytona, New Smyrna Beach, Oak Hill

In volusia county, north of kennedy space center & cape canaveral, best views to watch a nighttime rocket launch is along the beach..

Daytona Beach is known for a lot of things: The Daytona 500, beautiful beaches and not to mention Bike Week. But did you know Volusia County is privy to some amazing views of rocket launches from neighboring Brevard County, home to Kennedy Space Center and Cape Canaveral Space Force Station?

You can check it out for yourself.

Day or night, watching a rocket launch on the beach is so Florida.

Weather permitting and depending on cloud cover, yes. We have suggestions on where and how to watch a rocket launch from Ormond Beach to Oak Hill below if you keep scrolling.

Is there a rocket launch in Florida today? Rocket launch calendar for Florida

Here's what we know about the rocket launch missions, mentioned in  FLORIDA TODAY's rocket launch calendar  for the month, which is updated frequently. (Check that link often for April rocket launch times and dates because they are routinely subject to change for a variety of reasons.)

Is there a rocket launch in Cape Canaveral, Florida? Thursday, May 2: SpaceX Starlink 6-55

A National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency navigational warning indicates SpaceX is targeting Thursday night for its next Starlink mission:

  • Mission:  A SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket will launch a batch of 23 Starlink internet satellites from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station.
  • Launch window:  9:17 p.m. EDT Thursday, May 2, to 1:48 a.m. EDT Friday, May 3
  • Location:  Launch Complex 40

If you want to watch live rocket launch coverage,  FLORIDA TODAY's Space Team  will provide updates at  floridatoday.com/space , starting about 90 minutes before launch time. You can download the free app for iPhone or Android or type floridatoday.com/space into your browser.

Can you see a rocket liftoff from Kennedy Space Center in New Smyrna Beach? Where can I see a rocket launch in Volusia County , Florida?

In Volusia County, immediately north of Brevard County — home to Kennedy Space Center and Cape Canaveral Space Force Station — you can get a great view of a SpaceX, NASA or United Launch Alliance rocket launch.

The best views to watch a rocket launch from here is along the beach. Look due south. Readers have also mentioned seeing a rocket launch from New Smyrna Beach, Daytona Beach and Ormond Beach. Here are some recommended spots:

•  South New Smyrna Beach  (Canaveral National Seashore), there may be parking costs. New Smyrna Beach features 17 miles of white sandy beaches. An eclectic and quaint beach town, despite its reputation as the "Shark Bite Capital of the World," New Smyrna Beach has always been a haven for surfers who come for the waves.

Dinner and a launch: Perfect for a SpaceX or NASA rocket launch, best waterfront restaurants in Volusia County

Bethune Beach, which is 3.5 miles south of New Smyrna Beach and one mile north of the Apollo Beach entrance to Canaveral National Seashore Park, has restrooms, picnic pavilions, showers and nearly 800 feet of beachfront sidewalk,  according to Volusia County's site . The nearby riverside park area is across South Atlantic Avenue with tennis courts, pickle ball courts, basketball and volleyball courts, playground, fishing pier and restrooms. The river by the park can be a great viewing spot for manatees, dolphins and pelicans.

•  Apollo Beach  at  Canaveral National Seashore  (south of New Smyrna Beach). Canaveral National Seashore runs along Florida's East Coast in Volusia County and Brevard County. To access Apollo Beach, take Interstate 95 to exit 249, then travel east until it turns into State Road A1A. Follow SR A1A south to the park entrance.

Tiger Woods appears on 'The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon' to discuss Sun Day Red and more

Change Text Size

Tiger Woods appeared on Tuesday’s edition of "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," a day before the launch of Woods’ Sun Day Red line.

Woods appeared in a T-shirt with "Sun Day Red" emblazoned across the chest, with topics ranging from a brief period of childhood rebellion that cemented his traditional final-round red attire, to a heavily memed photo from the Masters that looked to show Woods shaking hands with a tree (it was Verne Lundquist), to his skill of hitting driver from his knees.

The 82-time PGA TOUR winner revealed on "The Tonight Show" that although his mom Tida believed his power color was red (being a Capricorn), he underwent a period of wearing blue, looking to prove a point. It didn't work. Red was in the lineup to stay. Thus the "Sun Day Red" brand is based around Woods’ trademark red, which he has worn on Sundays throughout his career -- stemming from Tida Woods' belief in a "power color."

"My mom thought that (red) was my power color, or some BS thing like that, so I end up wearing red and end up winning some golf tournaments," Woods explained to Fallon. "And then to spite her, I wore blue, and I did not win those tournaments. So Mom is always right."

Woods and Fallon had plenty of laughs in the roughly 8-minute appearance, recalling a time swapping stories about their kids when Woods' son Charlie was 2 or 3 years old, already making golf swings with household items. They reviewed memes that stemmed from the "tree handshake" photo at Augusta National, and Woods challenged Fallon to a game of ping-pong sometime this year.

They also discussed the new "Sun Day Red" line, which Woods told Fallon is focused on maximizing athletic performance. Woods’ clothing line was announced in February at an event in Los Angeles before his appearance at The Genesis Invitational. Sun Day Red describes itself on its website as "a brand that promises to bring a new and elevated standard to performance wear and luxury lifestyle fashion" with clothes that feature "never-before-seen patterns, fabrication and technical detailing intended to elevate all levels of play."

"It's about athletes being first and designing something for the athlete so that we can perform at a higher level," Woods told Fallon. "Here we are with Sun Day Red."

Woods debuted the clothes in February at The Riviera Country Club, where he played 24 holes before withdrawing with the flu. He also played earlier this month at the Masters, where he set the record for most consecutive cuts made at Augusta National (24). Woods has not announced where he will make his next start but is expected to play the PGA Championship on May 16-19 at Valhalla Golf Club in Louisville, Kentucky. Woods won the 2000 PGA at Valhalla.

Houston Texans WR, Daytona native Tank Dell may be one of 10 shot at Cabana Live in Sanford

daytona daily tours

UPDATE: The Seminole County Sheriff's Office verified that Dell was one of the people shot, and said there was a second shooter. Read the latest story here .

A 16-year-old was arrested after 10 people were reportedly shot at a waterside bar in unincorporated Sanford shortly after midnight Sunday morning, deputies told local media .

One of the people injured may have been Houston Texans wide receiver and Daytona Beach native Tank Dell.

The venue had been reserved for a private event, according to Cabana Live's Facebook post . The Seminole County Sheriff's Office told local media in a statement that due to the large number of people there deputies were patrolling the area around the establishment at 4380 Carraway Place when they heard gunshots and saw the crowd dispersing.

“The incident began as a verbal altercation that escalated,” SCSO spokesperson Kim Cannaday said in a statement to local media and The Associated Press .

According to SCSO investigators, the shooter opened fire and injured 10 people before being apprehended by a security officer working at the venue. The victims suffered non-life-threatening wounds, mostly to the lower extremities, deputies said. While not yet confirmed, one of them might have been one of the NFL's rising stars.

Was Tank Dell shot?

On Sunday afternoon, the Houston Texans posted on social media that "Tank Dell was a victim of a shooting in Sanford, Fla. last night.

"He sustained a minor wound but has been released from the hospital and is in good spirits," the post said. The Texans said they were in contact with Dell and his family and would provide more information later.

Dell was in Florida to visit his mother in Daytona Beach, click2houston.com reported.

NFL shootings: Tank Dell, Houston Texans WR, recovering from Florida shooting. Here are 16 NFL players who have been shot

The shooter is facing charges of attempted homicide, discharging a firearm on public property, display and use of a firearm during the commission of a felony and possession of a firearm by a minor, deputies told local media.

The shooting comes a day after four people were shot about 40 miles east on Daytona Beach's Seabreeze Boulevard , which is popular for nightlife.

Where is Cabana Live in Sanford?

Cabana Live , at 4380 Carraway Place, Sanford, Florida, is an entertainment venue on a small inlet of the St. Johns River near the Lake Monroe Bridge with live sports coverage, music, dining, and a pool. It is located about 20 miles north of Orlando along Interstate 4.

“We are cooperating with the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office and praying for all those involved,” the venue said in its post.

Where is Cabana Live? The Florida venue is where NFL player, 9 others may have been shot

Was anyone killed in the Sanford shooting?

Ten people suffered non-life-threatening injuries, deputies said.

"Our Cabana Live family is 100% safe and appreciate all the prayers and concerns," the venue said on social media.

Who is Tank Dell?

Nathaniel Jasper "Tank" Dell Jr. was born in Daytona Beach. He played JV for two years at Mainland High School before making the varsity squad as a junior, then spent a semester at Alabama A&M before transferring to Independence Community College in Kansas and then the University of Houston in 2020. He finished his college career with the NCAA Division 1 FBS team and as a Biletnikoff Award semifinalist.

Before going to the Houston Texans in the third round of the 2023 draft , Dell led the nation with 1,398 receiving yards and 17 touchdowns while finishing second in receptions (109). Prior to the draft, he ran a 40-yard time of 4.49 seconds at the NFL scouting combine, with a 1.49 10-yard split, and broad-jumped 10 feet, 1 inch.

Dell caught eight passes in Week 12 against the Arizona Cardinals for a career-high 149 yards and one touchdown but a fractured fibula ended his season the next week against the Denver Broncos.

'Just extra motivation': Diminutive Tank Dell is putting up huge numbers in his rookie season for the Texans

Sunday's Sanford mass shooting is 12th in Florida in 2024

The Cabana Live shooting will mark the 12th mass shooting in Florida so far this year, according to data from the Gun Violence Archive (GVA). But that's still slightly better than last year, which saw 13 mass shootings by the same time with seven in January alone. As of April 27, there have been 126 mass shootings nationwide, compared to 175 by the same time in 2023.

Florida is currently in the lead for most mass shootings in 2024 to date, according to GVA data. A shooting in San Antonio brought Texas to second with 11 mass shootings, leaving California and Illinois tied for third with 10 mass shootings each.

What is considered a mass shooting ?

The GVA (and the  Congressional Research Service ) defines a mass shooting only on the number of people shot in an incident: four or more, not including the shooter.

The FBI does not define "mass shooting" at all. Instead the agency defines "mass killing" or " mass murder " as an incident in which four or more victims are killed by any intentional means, which may include gun violence.

USA TODAY  defines  a mass shooting as an incident where at least four people are hit with gunfire, even if there are no fatalities. Mass killing refers is an incident in which at least four people are killed.

What happened in the Daytona Beach shooting ?

According to a statement by Daytona Beach officials, police noticed a "physical altercation" at about 2 a.m. in the Seabreeze Avenue entertainment district near the 600 block of North Grandview Avenue. They saw a man "brandish" a handgun and fire multiple rounds.

A 21-year-old man was arrested and is charged with four counts of attempted murder.

Billi e Eilish is scheduled to bring her tour in support of a forthcoming album titled “Hit Me Hard and Soft” to Desert Diamond Arena in Glendale on Friday, Dec. 13, 2024.

This is slated to be Eilish's first metro Phoenix concert since the Happier Than Ever: The World Tour played Desert Diamond Arena (then called Gila River Arena) in April 2022.

“Hit Me Hard and Soft” is set for a May 17 release. The new album was written by Eilish and Finneas, her brother and long-time collaborator who also produced the album. It is available to preorder, add or save at billieeilish.lnk.to/hitmehardandsoft .

The general on-sale starts at noon Arizona time on Friday, May 3, at billieeilish.com .

Presale information for Billie Eilish in Phoenix

American Express card members can purchase tickets before the general public from noon Arizona time on Tuesday, April 30, until 11 a.m. Friday, May 3, with additional presales running through the week. Any remaining tickets will be available during the general on-sale starting at noon on Friday, May 3, at  billieeilish.com .

What to know about Billie Eilish resale tickets

The goal is to give fans, not scalpers, the best chance to buy tickets at face value. To make this possible, Eilish has chosen to use Ticketmaster’s Face Value Exchange. If fans purchase tickets for a show in the U.S. or Canada and can't attend, they'll have the option to resell them to other fans at the original price paid.

To help protect the Exchange, the tour has requested all tickets be mobile only and restricted from transfer. This applies to all shows except those in Colorado, Illinois and New York, where Face Value Exchange cannot be mandated. A valid bank account or debit card within the country of your event is required to sell on the Face Value Exchange. More information on how the Ticketmaster Exchange works is available at ticketmaster.com.

Concert review: A Billie Eilish concert feels like witnessing a new pop legend in the making. Here's why

Is 'Hit Me Hard and Soft' sustainable?

The album will be available on all digital platforms and — in a continued effort to minimize waste and combat climate change — across all physical formats in limited variants on the same day, with the same track listing and using 100% recyclable materials. For more information on all sustainable practices for this album release, visit store.billieeilish.com/pages/sustainability .

What to know about Billie Eilish's tour sustainability efforts

Eilish will continue her long-standing partnership with environmental nonprofit Reverb on this tour, building on the success of previous efforts, which resulted in more than $1 million donated to environmental, greenhouse gas reduction, and climate justice projects, more than 150,000 fan actions and more. Sustainability efforts on this tour will include reducing greenhouse gas pollution, decreasing single-use plastic waste, supporting climate action and updating concession offerings to promote and encourage plant-based food options with Support+Feed.

In keeping with her commitment to making a difference in the environmental impact of her music and touring, a portion of the proceeds from ticket sales in North America will go to Reverb and its ongoing effort to help support organizations across the country addressing the impacts of food insecurity and the climate crisis.

The Billie Eilish Reverb Eco-Villages will be set up at two locations in the main concourse of each show, where fans can take part in the tour’s sustainability efforts, connect with nonprofits and take meaningful action for people and the planet.

What to know about Support+Feed

Support+Feed will be launching a 360 campaign throughout the tour, offering an expanded version of the Support+Feed Pledge inspiring fans to eat one plant-based meal a day for 30 days with digital elements and community activations. Fans can also participate in plant-based food drives in select cities to raise awareness and gather food to distribute to local communities.

Why Billie Eilish wants fans to take public transportation

Fans are encouraged to join the effort to make the “Hit Me Hard and Soft” tour more sustainable by taking public transportation, where possible, and carpooling to and from the shows to help reduce greenhouse gas pollution. Fans will receive information via email about public transportation options before the show.

Venue partners are also helping to lessen the environmental footprint of the tour. In addition to efforts to decrease waste through reducing or eliminating single-use plastics and diverting landfill waste with compost and recycling, venues will be offering plant-based food options at all shows.

What to know about RockNRefill bottles

Fans are encouraged to bring an empty reusable water bottle or donate for a custom RockNRefill Nalgene bottle to fill up at the free water refill stations located at each venue. The RockNRefill bottles and refill stations are located at the Eco-Villages in the main concourse at all shows.

What to wear to Billie Eilish's concert

Fans are also encouraged to fight fast fashion by opting for thrifted, upcycled or borrowed clothes instead of buying new clothing to wear to shows.

Zillow launches buyer agreement for home tours

Zillow’s touring agreement is a nonexclusive, seven-day contract for buyers to use on home tours with agents

Over the years, Zillow has made it clear that it wants to help consumers with all aspects of their homebuying journey . Through the terms of the National Association of Realtors’   (NAR)   commission lawsuit   settlement agreement  Zillow is now getting into buyer representation agreements.

Under the terms of NAR’s settlement agreement, agents will have to have a  written agreement  with a client in order to work with them as a buyer broker. The trade group recently clarified that these agreements must be signed prior to the agent taking a buyer on a home tour.

On Tuesday, Zillow announced that it will be offering a nonexclusive contract for buyers and agents to use for home tours ahead of the rule changes being implemented in July.

In a blog post , Zillow Group’s chief industry development officer, Errol Samuelson, wrote that buyer agreements can “provide transparency, promote open conversation, and foster alignment between the two parties.”

“However, insisting that a buyer sign an exclusive, long-term agreement with an agent, perhaps before even meeting the agent, feels premature. That’s why Zillow has created a non-exclusive touring agreement, and we’re making it available for use to the entire residential real estate industry,” Samuelson added.

According to the blog post, Zillow is not required to offer consumer-facing agreements by the terms of NAR’s settlement agreement. But Samuelson wrote that Zillow views this as “an opportunity to provide tools for the industry to fulfill these requirements in a way that puts the consumer first.”

The agreements created by Zillow are nonexclusive and have a limited duration for the initial tours conducted by the agent with a prospective buyer. The agreements expire after seven days, only cover touring activities and do not require compensation or exclusivity.

“Buyer agreements typically outline exactly what an agent will do for a client. However, requiring a long-term exclusive agreement with a single professional, before the home buyer has an opportunity to meet with multiple agents or sufficient time to decide to work with this agent, negatively impacts the consumer experience,” Samuelson wrote. “To put it simply, most people want to date before becoming exclusive.”

As Biden abandons 'Bidenomics,' Harris makes a different case before Black voters

daytona daily tours

ATLANTA — Vice President Kamala Harris is shaking up her approach to the Black community and making the economy the focal point of a multi-state tour that she kicked off on Monday in Georgia.

Harris came to the battleground state to make an urgent case to voters who delivered a surprise victory for President Joe Biden that he'll ease their everyday costs if he wins reelection. It’s part of a concerted effort by the White House to win back disappointed Americans by putting kitchen table issues at the front of the president's agenda.

During much of last year, Biden campaigned on a slogan of "Bidenomics" touting wins such as historic investments in infrastructure, manufacturing and the middle class. But Biden struggled to convince voters they were experiencing a post-pandemic economic revival as the cost of food; housing and other services have remained high – even after inflation has decreased from its peak.

During her visit, the vice president focused on lowering housing costs, decreasing debt and increasing wealth for Black communities.

"Everybody wants a job and President Joe Biden and I are very proud that in our administration, we have brought Black unemployment down to historic lows," Harris said. "But that's a baseline."

Prep for the polls: See who is running for president and compare where they stand on key issues in our Voter Guide

Harris sought to draw attention to actions the Biden administration has taken to increase entrepreneurs' access to capital, lower housing costs, support historically Black Colleges and Universities and lessen college debt during a moderated conversation and a stop at an Atlanta nonprofit.

"We know that home ownership is probably the most effective way to build intergenerational wealth," Harris declared during an on-stage discussion with the leaders of a Black entrepreneur network.

Biden's support from Black voters is experiencing significant attrition in particular. Much of it coming from Black men.

He trails presumptive GOP nominee and former President Donald Trump in a handful of battleground states, including Georgia. An April survey taken by Morning Consult showed him eight points down in the swing state that he beat Trump in nearly four years ago. Georgia voters say the economy is their top concern in the 2024 presidential election, and just 29% say the economy is on the right track.

Harris' job approval rating is also upside down with voters. She had a 52% disapproval rating nationally in a USA TODAY/Suffolk University poll in March. A bare majority of Black voters, 51%, approved in the same poll.

Her overall support from voters was similar in Georgia in the Morning Consult survey taken in April, when 38% of the state's voters said they had a favorable view of her and 53% said they did not.

Her visit to Atlanta included a stop at the Russell Innovation Center for Entrepreneurs, where she spoke with Black small business owners about increasing wealth and ways, they are working to support one another. She toured the facility with Georgia's senators, Raphael Warnock and Jon Ossoff, and Rep. Nikema Williams, who also acts as the state party chair.

The vice president also sat down with Rashad Bilal and Troy Millings of the business and finance podcast Earn Your Leisure.

In the discussion Harris raised the issue of highways that cut through Black communities, which she said the administration says its working to reconnect. One such project in Atlanta is receiving $158 million from the Biden administration.

She also slapped back at conservatives' attacks on diversity equity and inclusion initiatives, telling the audience, "We understand that you can’t truly invest in the strength of our nation, if you do not pay attention to diversity, equity and inclusion."

Harris has done events on the economy in underserved communities in the past. Georgia marks the start of an economic opportunity tour that will take her to Michigan next week. A previous tour that Harris embarked on in battleground states aimed to increase support for reproductive rights.
