' src=

i’d jump on any of these in a heartbeat if not for the cost of airfare to that part of the world

' src=

Could be magical from auckland as ship would have to fly to follow above map, as cruise terminal on other side of island….disney magic

' src=

As I heard somebody else mention, these are obviously meant for Australia residents to take as I don’t know anybody from the US that would pay that kind of money to fly all the way down there and go on one of these cruises that only makes 1 or 2 port stops (even the 6 night only makes 2 port stops), these itineraries are terrible. Only ones worth looking at would be the repositioning cruises and they don’t make any stops in New Zealand or Australia (except when they actually get to or leave from Sydney). Think DCL could have done better with these. Glad I already had other DCL cruises booked for 2023.

' src=

but it is ok to fly to the US for only 2-7 night voyages?

You may easily find the decision was too late and other ports of call were taken.

' src=

I have been told that these cruises are like the UK cruises last year and all are cruises to nowhere. While there are ports listed, they are tactical ports for refueling, etc. and not ports of call for guests.

' src=

That is honestly super disappointing. No longer cruise around Australia or NZ, only super short trips. How the hell id doing a 2 night?

' src=

It didn’t take us long to realize these are not worth the airfare and pre-cruise over night and post cruise over night stays. I agree the reposition itineraries are a better choice, and even those prices are a little high. Just focusing on the repositions at this point.

Some of the links on this page are coded wrong, such as safari-reader://disneycruiselineblog.com/cruise-planning/itineraries//itineraries/itinerary-summary/?itinerary=673 The correct coding should be https://disneycruiselineblog.com/cruise-planning/itineraries//itineraries/itinerary-summary/?itinerary=673 🙂

' src=

Valerie, Thanks for letting me know, I’ve corrected the links.

' src=

What are the early booking dates? Have they said yet?

I keep trying to click on “View Early Booking Dates” and it is not active yet. I was told we would hear more on 9/26.

' src=

Hello Scott Any idea when other itineraries for 2024 will be available ? October I believe?

' src=

With the New Zealand dollar at 0.56 and the Australian dollar at 0.64 to the US dollar, I don’t think that the “locals” will be able to pay DCL the expensive cruise fares that Disney will demand! And Americans are not going to fly that far for a short cruise!?

' src=

Hi Ed, as an Australian I have booked and previously sailed DCL in the US. It’s cheaper for us to sail here (even in the Aus school holidays and around Xmas) than it is to fly over to the US and get on it. Disney fans will go if they understand the quality of these beautiful ships , it’s the first time or non cruises that will be complaining

' src=

I would not be surprised if these cruises are meant to gauge local interest in the Disney brand, so that Disney can determine if building a property in the region might be a good idea.

The same goes for the Singapore sailings in 2025 – in fact, in the 1990’s Disney had a plan to build a property in Singapore, but it got scrapped, probably because of the Disneyland Paris fiasco – the same fate that befell a lot of 1990’s Disney projects.

First Disney Cruise to sail for New Zealand and Auckland home port

It's something Disney fans in Australia have been waiting a very long time for.

And finally, for the first time ever, Disney Cruise Line will offer "magical sailings" in Australia and New Zealand after it announced new destinations.

Ever since its inception back in 1998, the Disney Cruise Line has never sailed Down Under or across the ditch to New Zealand.

Instead, it has been sailing out of locations in North America and Europe.

However, the Disney Wonder, which originally launched in 1999, will now set sail from four new home ports – Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Auckland.

It will only be for a limited time, from two to six nights between October 2021 to February 2024.

"We are so excited to bring the magic of a Disney cruise vacation close to home for guests in Australia and New Zealand," Josh D'Amaro, chairman for Disney Parks, Experiences and Products, said.

"On these limited-time sailings, the ship is the destination, and our amazing Disney Cruise Line crew can't wait to welcome guests on board as they are immersed in their favourite stories from Disney, Pixar, Marvel and Star Wars."

On-board will also be favourite Disney friends including Captain Mickey Mouse, Captain Minnie Mouse, Goofy and Pluto, and entertainment including original Broadway-quality shows.

"We are so glad to bring something new to those who may have never experienced this type of Disney magic before," D'Amaro said.

Guests will also enjoy dining experiences with imaginative restaurants including Tiana's Place, where they can meet Princess Tiana and enjoy a taste of New Orleans cooking, and Animater's Palate, an interactive dining experience that celebrates Disney animation.

Kids will have their own Frozen adventures in Disney's Oceaneer Club, along with a multi-level replica of Andy's Room from Toy Story and a place to summon their inner super hero at the Marvel Super Hero Academy.

And it's not just the children who get to enjoy themselves. Adults will have their own exclusive spaces to rest and relax, including the adults-only Quiet Cove pool, dining at Palo and the rejuvenating Senses Spa & Salon.

It's set to sail on October 28, 2023, departing from Sydney. Bookings are open to the general public from Thursday, September 29, 2022 at 8am AEST and 11am NZDT.

“My friend in America called me and told me to wake up because it's opening, so I called more friends and by 5am the whole website had cracked,” she said.

"If we were somewhere else we'd have to pay extra airfares to go to a different country, we probably would have had to think twice."

The Barbosa family said this feels like a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

"We grow up watching the movies and the classical ones, we've shown to our kids and they enjoy them as well, so it's kind of a dream come true."

Coast guard airlift pregnant woman from Disney cruise near Puerto Rico

B rave members of the U.S. Coast Guard dramatically airlifted a pregnant woman suffering medical complications off a Disney Cruise ship and into a helicopter for transport to a hospital.

The woman, a 35-year-old U.S. citizen who has not been named, experienced health complications and required medical care ashore Monday, according to the Coast Guard.

The Jayhawk aircrew responded swiftly, dispatching a helicopter and rescue swimmers to the Disney Fantasy - sitting about 180 miles off the Puerto Rico coast - and safely transporting the patient to a hospital in San Juan.

This incredible moment was captured in a video shared by the Coast Guard on Tuesday, eliciting an overwhelming response from social media users.

The 35-year-old pregnant woman was on a seven-day round trip departing from Orlando on Saturday.

On Monday morning, while the ship was transiting 260 nautical miles northwest of Aguadilla, Puerto Rico, officials in the San Juan sector received a request for medevac assistance, according to the Coast Guard.

The crew promptly directed a Coast Guard Air Station Borinquen MH-60T Jayhawk helicopter and an HC-144 Ocean Sentry aircraft from the Coast Guard Air Station in Miami to rendezvous with the cruise ship.

Once on scene, the aircrew deployed their rescue swimmer aboard the cruise ship, who prepared a rescue basket and litter to lift the woman and a cruise ship doctor.

In the video shared by the Coast Guard, the helicopter can be seen descending and approaching the ship, while a rescue team transports the woman on a stretcher.

The patient is then lifted off the deck, rising into the air on a harness and transported into the belly of the helicopter.

The aircrew transported the 35-year-old patient to the Fernando Luis Ribas Dominicci Airport in San Juan, where medical personnel was waiting.

She was later transported to the local 'Centro Medico' Hospital, according to the Coast Guard.

DailyMail.com has reached out to the Coast Guard for further information regarding the woman's condition and how far along she was in her pregnancy.

Lt. Cmdr. Todd Stephens said in a statement: 'Our crew was able to quickly, safely, and efficiently execute a long-range MEDEVAC for the patient to receive the higher level of care she required.'

'This case demonstrates the value of good crew resource management and the capabilities of our Jayhawk helicopter,' he added.

'We are glad everything came together to help this passenger,' said Ensign Michael Riccio, Coast Guard Sector San Juan operations unit leader for the case.

'The competency displayed by the Disney Fantasy crew and the Coast Guard personnel and units involved made all the difference,' Ensign said.

Disney World earned its first Michelin star in April 2024

Michelin and Mickey Mouse now coexist in one spot, thanks to the Michelin Guide Florida.

The 2024 MICHELIN Guide for Miami, Orlando and Tampa was announced on Thursday, April 18, awarding stars to nine more restaurants in the region. Now, Florida is home to 26 Michelin Starred restaurants, with L’Atelier de Joël Robuchon Miami remaining atop the list with two stars.

“Since the arrival of the MICHELIN Guide to Florida in 2022, there has been significant growth in the state’s local culinary scene, proving Florida is a leading gastronomic destination for travelers near and far,” said Gwendal Poullennec, the International Director of the MICHELIN Guides. “In addition to the nine new restaurants awarded one MICHELIN Star, we are thrilled to announce Green Star restaurants in the selection for the first time, showcasing these restaurants’ commitment to a more sustainable gastronomy.”

New to the list are two Tampa restaurants, Ebbe and Kosen, along with three Miami eateries, EntreNos, Ogawa, and Shingo. In Orlando, Camille, Natsu, Papa Llama, and Victoria and Albert’s were also awarded starts. The last one has a special designation: It’s at Disney World.

Housed at the Grand Floridian Resort, Victoria and Albert’s is known for its difficult to secure reservations for an opulent, Victorian-era inspired meal. The pre-fixe meal is $295 per guest, with optional wine pairings starting at $155 per person and zero-proof pairings starting at $115. To round out the elegant experience, a formal dress code is encouraged for all diners, who must be 10 years of age or older.

Langoustines with daikon and crispy sea beans at Victoria and Albert's

“It’s an incredible honor to be recognized by Michelin for the innovative dining experience our team brings to life here at Victoria & Albert’s,” Chef de Cuisine Matthew Sowers said in a statement. “Everybody on our team earned this Star, from our stewards to our culinarians to our pastry chefs, and we hope to inspire future generations of culinary professionals to follow their dreams.”

Michelin was impressed by Chef Sowers’ “contemporary verve” that draws on influences spanning from Asia to the Nordic region. Dishes like delicate tarts set with New Zealand langoustine, nouveau sandwiches made with venison carpaccio and red cabbage, and bold sauces like cherry-cola bordelaise all impressed the anonymous inspectors. Other details like water lists, an ornate coffee and tea service, and a serious wine program further made an impression and earned the Disney World restaurant its first Michelin star.

This is far from the first notable accolade for the theme park restaurant since its opening in 1988. Victoria & Albert’s has maintained a AAA Five Diamond Award since 2000, Forbes Travel Guide Five Star since 2018, and earned a Wine Spectator Best of Award of Excellence.
