Drab Majesty Announce UK and European Tour Dates For 2024 – New EP “An Object In Motion” Out Now On Dais
DRAB MAJESTY
Announce UK & European tour dates for 2024 EP ‘An Object in Motion’ out now on Dais
Following the recent release of EP, ‘ An Object in Motion’, out now via Dais Records, Drab Majesty kick off plans for 2024 with an extensive UK and European tour , taking in dates across the British Isles in February.
Drab Majesty 2024 live dates: Jan 30 – BE Brussels Botanique, Rotonde Jan 31 – BE Leffinge – De Zwerver Feb 1 – UK London – Fabric Feb 2 – UK Bristol – Strange Brew Feb 3 – UK Manchester – Canvas Feb 4 – UK Glasgow – Room 2 Feb 6 – UK Leeds – Belgrave Music Hall Feb 7 – UK Birkenhead – Future Yard Feb 8 – UK Brighton – Chalk Feb 9 – NL Den Haag – Grauzone Feb 11 – DE Oberhausen – Ebertbad Feb 13 – RS Belgrade – Drugstore Feb 15 – GE Tbilisi – Sine Feb 16 – GR Athens – Arch Club Feb 17 – TK Istanbul Blind
‘An Object in Motion’ marks the start of a stirring new chapter in Drab Majesty ’s majestic legacy. Written during a 2021 retreat to the remote coastal Oregon town of Yachats, Deb Demure leaned into the neo-psychedelic resonance of a uniquely bowl-shaped 12-string Ovation acoustic/electric guitar. After early morning hikes in the rain, Deb would record ambient guitar experiments the rest of the day, tapping into “flow states,” letting the sound lead the way. These sessions were then refined or recreated, and later elevated further with key collaborations by Rachel Goswell (Slowdive), Justin Meldal-Johnson (Beck, M83, Air) , and Ben Greenberg (Uniform, Circular Ruin Studio) . ‘ An Object In Motion’ is true to its title, capturing the chrysalis moment of an artist evolving, reborn and untethered, silhouetted against an open horizon.
“Cape Perpetua” kicks off the collection’s divergent palette: sparkling acoustic finger-picking refracted through delay, equal parts raga and reverie. Melodies and moods congeal and dissipate, at the threshold of rustic American primitivism, brooding neo-folk, and pastoral melancholia. “The Skin And The Glove” deploys jangle to different effect – baggy, soaring, grey-skied kaleidoscopic pop in the spirit of Stone Roses, Primal Scream, and The Glove. Rachel Goswell lends her iconic freefall voice to the Cure-esque ballad, “Vanity,” infusing poetic gravity to the doomed refrain: “ If the valve breaks / then the earth quakes / and history finds a way / to put you in your place .”
But closing track “Yield To Force” may be the most anomalous offering of the set. A 15-minute instrumental odyssey of cyclical strings, ominous slide guitar, and simmering synthesizer, the piece sways and spirals like a long zoom into distant storm clouds. Demure finesses the guitar with a restless but regal grandeur, unfolding a panorama of peaks, shadows, and plateaus. It’s music both intuitive and prophetic, tracing the slow swing of pendulums across an endless plain. Taken as a whole, ‘ An Object In Motion’ presents a showcase of potential futures from Drab’s evolving domain, their sound poised to bloom at the precipice of transformation.

Slowdive Announces Spring 2024 North American Tour with Drab Majesty
- December 6, 2023
- post-punk.com
Following their successful fall 2023 tour supporting their long-awaited fifth studio album, “Everything Is Alive,” British shoegaze heroes Slowdive are poised to continue captivating their devoted fanbase with a new set of tour dates in 2024. The album, released on September 1, 2023, has been a commercial triumph and critical darling, securing top ten spots in several European countries, including Belgium, Germany, the Netherlands, New Zealand, and the United Kingdom. Notable singles from the album, such as “Kisses,” “Skin in the Game,” “The Slab,” and “Alife,” have further cemented Slowdive’s reputation for creating deeply textured and emotionally engaging music.
The spring 2024 tour will see Slowdive returning to the US, building on the momentum of their fall 2023 tour. This time, they’re set to headline the Sick New World festival and perform in several cities missed in their previous run. Anticipation is high for shows in Texas (Austin, Houston, Dallas), the Southwest (Phoenix, Albuquerque), New Orleans, Kansas City, Atlanta, and the unique subterranean venue, The Caverns, in Tennessee.
Enhancing the tour’s allure is the inclusion of Drab Majesty as the opening act. Known for their distinct post-punk and goth-infused sound, Drab Majesty gained recent acclaim with their EP “ An Object in Motion.” The EP’s lead single, “Vanity,” featuring Slowdive’s Rachel Goswell, has been particularly well-received, offering a rare blend of Goswell’s ethereal vocals with Drab Majesty’s darker tones.

the concert was great! loved the performance and the music! there’s just one thing that bothered me and that is the fact that the music was waaaaaay too loud, to the point that it was making me dizzy (and i didn’t consume any alcohol), but other than that it was amazing! i would definitely watch again.

Everyday I Decay in the audience at the Portland, Oregon Drab Majesty and Body of Light destroyed. Hadn't heard any Body of Light until this wasn't hard to get into. Drab's full sound just plain rocks peoples socks off. Will need more U.S. dates I can travel to.
Amazing show at beautiful venue in Toronto!
Dais records is the best label currently and Drab Majesty brought all their albums at merchandise desk. Super cool band with the most unique sound. Their albums are epic but now I think they sound even better live!

The latest EP from Drab Majesty marks the start of a stirring new chapter in the band’s majestic legacy. These sessions were then refined or recreated, and later elevated further with key collaborations by Rachel Goswell (Slowdive), Justin Meldal-Johnson (Beck, M83, Air), and Ben Greenberg (Uniform, Circular Ruin Studio). An Object In Motion is true to its title, capturing the chrysalis moment of an artist evolving, reborn and untethered, silhouetted against an open horizon.
Rachel Goswell lends her iconic freefall voice to The Cure-esque ballad, “Vanity,” infusing poetic gravity to the doomed refrain: “If the valve breaks / then the earth quakes / and history finds a way / to put you in your place.” “Yield To Force”, the closing track of the EP, may be the most anomalous offering of the set. Taken as a whole, An Object In Motion presents a showcase of potential futures from Drab’s evolving domain, their sound poised to bloom at the precipice of transformation.
American synthwave project, Causeway, share their incredible debut album via Italians Do It Better today. We Were Never Lost clocks in at just under 50 minutes across 11 hypnotic tracks. The album opens with Allison Rae haunting the ethereal high notes of “Let Me Love You”, repeating the words “It’s Alright, It’s Alright”. Her vocals float alongside a crescendo of sawtooth leads drenched in endless reverb. Setting the tone for everything that follows, they lay out the ground rules; sophisticated downbeat melodrama, lyrical motifs of isolation, & an ultra-vivid wall of sound. The result is saccharine pop that is absolutely mesmerizing. The mysterious duo first landed on Italians Do It Better’s radar with their standout contribution to the After Dark 3compilation. Their romantic take on themes of love, loss, & beyond hooked us immediately. Soon after, they delivered one of our favorite moments from the “Italians Do It Better” Madonna tribute last Summer. Reimagining her ballad from the 1985 film Vision Quest, Causeway launched “Crazy For You” into the outer limits with Marshall Watson’s texturally rich production. Already a neo-classic at Italians Do It Better headquarters…We Were Never Lost is over two years in the making. Buckle up & enjoy the ride.
Enigma Machine
Enigma Machine is the solo Dark Wave project of Maxwell Modeen a member of former Phoenix Psychedelic rock band “The Blank Waves”. Enigma Machine applies maximalist lush production to a genre mostly noted for cold, stark minimalism. Dense synthesizers, deep bass and a new wave approach to songwriting are presented with a raw and energetic stage performance.
Presenting Baseball’s All-Eclipse Team, from Sonny Gray to Moonlight Graham
Monday isn’t just any old day in America. It’s Eclipse Day!
So what does that have to do with baseball? Well, it’s unlikely anybody is going to lose a fly ball in the solar flares. So what does that leave us? How about this spectacular idea: It’s the perfect time to unveil Baseball’s All-Eclipse Team.
What’s that? It’s just a goofy exercise that my Starkville podcast partner, Doug Glanville, and I cooked up for this week’s show. Then we brainstormed with the great Jason Benetti, Tigers broadcaster and quick-witted expert on pretty much every wacky idea we’ve ever thrown at him, on our own All-Eclipse Team on the show.
I invite you to check out the whole show , because A) Jason Benetti is hilarious, B) it’s not all eclipse talk and C) did I mention Jason Benetti is hilarious? But also, you can listen in real time as this totally inspired idea springs to life in the pod-i-verse, and we begin to craft the first All-Eclipse Team in baseball history. It’s pure magic, because of course it is.
But once the recording of the show was out of the way, our team was still slightly (by which I mean totally) disjointed. So I sprang into action to flesh out an All-Eclipse Team that could actually (OK, make that theoretically) take the field, because it now has a real baseball player at every position.
I dreamed big, for just a brief moment, about lining up our All-Eclipse Team against the Savannah Bananas, and taking that show on the road. There’s only one reason, however, that we won’t be launching that eclipse tour: Some of the members of this team could be technically described as “not presently alive.”
But let’s not let minor details like that get in the way of your enjoyment of this en-light-ening exercise. Plus, after I’ve done my bit to run this eclipse thing into the ground, we have exciting bonus All-Eclipse Team coverage from you, our readers, straight from the incredible interactive cosmos we live in. So stay tuned for your awesome picks.
OK, on that note, it’s time for you to remove your stylish eclipse glasses and behold the other-worldly majesty of the first (and undoubtedly last) All-Eclipse Team, as selected by a distinguished panel consisting of me, Glanville and Benetti (but mostly me).
