The Eagles have just rolled out the first half-dozen fall dates of their ongoing "Hotel California" 2022 Tour. So far, all the shows will play in Canada — hitting Toronto, Ottawa, Winnipeg, Saskatoon, Edmonton, and Vancouver. Tickets for the Canadian run goes on sale Friday, July 15th at 10 a.m. local time via Ticketmaster.com.
The first half of the concert spotlights the band's 1976 Hotel California album performed live in its entirety from start to finish, accompanied by an orchestra and choir. The second part of the night features the Eagles tackling a set of the band's greatest hits and select solo favorites.
We asked Joe Walsh what he feels when he's fronting the band and letting loose on one of his signature solos: ["It makes me very humble and very grateful. When I do that, everybody, kind of perks up — and I can feel that. I can feel that energy and I see a lot of people smiling and a lot of people dancing and singing the words. And that makes me wanna play my ass off, and that makes them happy. And that I can make that many people happy with my music, is all the payback I need."] SOUNDCUE (:28 OC: . . . payback I need)

“From the title track — a 6 1/2-minute flamenco-reggae ballad— to the elegiac closer ‘The Last Resort,’ it’s consummately performed…” -Los Angeles Times “The band performed the album from front to back, following with a blazing greatest hits set that had the audience at the sold-out arena constantly on its feet…With no exception, the songs have aged well, but how could they fail with the Eagles’ five-part harmony and five guitar-approach… (Henley’s) voice sounded as strong and pliant as it ever has, easily hitting the highest of notes, while retaining his trademark huskiness.” -Billboard “By now the orchestra has been joined by a choir. The Eagles’ sound, with its glowing harmonies, barely needs them, but they add to the sense of occasion – and the delight of the crowd. I’ve never seen so many songs receive a standing ovation.” -Daily Mail “…the Eagles spent more than 2 hours and 40 minutes on stage performing most of the best-known songs in their oeuvre, their voices sounding as robust as they did half their lifetimes ago. And the show was all the best adjectives you can think of — exhilarating, breathtaking, stunning, magical, triumphant.” -Charlotte Observer “It was a soulful, technically brilliant concert, with state-of-the-art sound engineering, wonderful performances and beautiful visuals presented on a giant screen behind the musicians.” -Buffalo News And it was…sublime. Eagles have long had a knack for precise, recording-perfect performances, and playing “Hotel California” was perhaps the finest exposition of that. The sound mix was pristine, the vocal harmonies were rich…” -Oakland Press “Everyone in the arena seemed to leap to their feet and start applauding at once. For a split-second I actually felt my eyes start to mist up. It was just so overwhelming, the power of (Henley’s) voice, the beauty of the song, the majestic-ness of the symphony, the thickness of the nostalgia hanging in the air.” -Charlotte Observer “What made the “Hotel California” portion of Thursday’s set so stunning was just how airtight the Eagles sounded… The “Hotel California” portion of the set was near perfection – a tight, 50-minute showcase of musicality that would have been worth the price of admission alone. But the night was far from over.” -Cleveland Plain Dealer
Hotel California is the third best-selling U.S. album in history, certified 26-times Platinum by the RIAA. After its release in 1976, it topped the charts and won two GRAMMY Awards for “New Kid in Town” and “Hotel California.” Several of the songs from the album have never been performed since the original “Hotel California” tour. The band’s Their Greatest Hits 1971-1977 is the best-selling U.S. album in history, with the RIAA certifying the collection at 38-times Platinum. In today’s faddish, fractured, rock landscape, the Eagles retain an appeal that transcends both generation and genre, cementing the band’s role as enduring musical icons. As the best-selling American band of the ’70s, and one of the top-selling acts of all time, the Eagles have sold more than 150 million albums worldwide, scored six #1 albums and topped the singles charts five times. They have won six GRAMMY® Awards, were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1998, in their first year of eligibility, and received the Kennedy Center Honors in 2016.

The Eagles announce 'Long Goodbye' final tour: 'This is our swan song' Back to video
The ’70s rockers, famous for Hotel California , Desperado , Take it Easy and many more, announced Thursday they will embark on their final tour, which they are dubbing The Long Goodbye.
“We know how fortunate we are, and we are truly grateful,” the six-time Grammy winners said in a statement posted to their website . “Our long run has lasted far longer than any of us ever dreamed. But, everything has its time, and the time has come for us to close the circle.”
The band — comprised of core members Don Henley, Joe Walsh, Timothy B. Schmit, along with Vince Gill and the late Glenn Frey’s son, Deacon — said they “hope to see as many of you as we can, before we finish up.” The first set of dates kicks off at New York City’s Madison Square Garden on Sept. 7 and includes shows in Detroit (Oct. 13), Cleveland (Oct. 17) and Atlanta (Nov. 2).

VIP packages go on sale July 12 with general tickets available beginning July 14. More dates expected to be added in the coming months and the tour is expected to continue into 2025.
“We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for embracing this band and its music,” the classic rockers added in their statement. “At the end of the day, you are the reason we have been able to carry on for over five decades. This is our swan song, but the music goes on and on.”
Steely Dan, the group’s longtime friends and fellow Rock and Roll Hall of Famers, will open the initial run of shows, which wraps Nov. 17 in Minnesota.
After Frey’s death in 2016, Henley hinted that the band was finished. “I don’t see how we could go out and play without the guy who started the band,” he said in an interview with the Washington Post .
But he was convinced the group could grow new wings by adding Deacon to the fold to sing his late father’s parts.
After ruling the airwaves in the ’70s, the Eagles acrimoniously broke up in 1980 with all the members pursuing solo careers. They reunited in 1994 for the MTV Unplugged special, Hell Freezes Over , which lead to them touring again. In 2007, they released their seventh studio LP, Long Road Out of Eden .
In an interview with Postmedia in 2013, Henley, now 75, opened up on the band’s different eras, saying, “It’s all been fun.”
“In the first act, the highs were higher and the lows lower,” he said. “Since we resumed working together in 1994, things have proceeded on a much more even keel.”
Henley also reflected on what his older self would have thought about the journey he undertook as a young musician struggling to make a name for himself in Los Angeles in the early ’70s.
“It was no small thing for a kid from a town of 2,500 to pick up stakes and move to a metropolitan area of about 10 million people where he knew only one resident. But he’s on a mission, he’s found his fellow travellers and his intentions are good,” Henley said.
“I see him wrestling with the big questions that plagued him for much of the first half of the Eagles’ career: ‘Is this worth the all the risk and the stress? Are we really any good? What if things don’t work out?’ I had three-and-a-half years of college under my belt, but I didn’t really have a Plan B.”

I have always wanted to see The Eagles as a matter of fact it is a bucket list concert. My very first time going to the see them and I was not disappointed. Three and a half hours of pure music with a small break. I sang along with almost every song the band played. I have gotten used to politics in concerts this was a politics free zone. thank you so much for the break.
One gripe if I have one it seemed like the special guest was Joe Walsh, he played James Gang to Eagles songs. It is a small gripe because the guy is just amazing. One thing I noticed just from being old when the girl came out in the Hotel California set to flip the album she actually did not flip the the album. yes I am old. but it was a great effect.
I would go see them again in 1/2 a heart beat.

What. A. Show! I grew up listening to the Eagles, either on album, CD, or my dad playing his guitar. It was a truly wonderful experience to be able to see them live with my dad and watch his enjoyment of seeing a band he’s loved for so long live. The staging and pace of the show was absolutely amazing and set the tone perfectly, and the graphics and lighting designers definitely did their best work. We were close to the stage and it was absolutely fascinating to watch all the cameras recording the event, as well. The band was exceptional but the team behind them is definitely to be commended for this one! I hope everyone who sees this tour has the same level of enjoyment my family and I did!
Experiencing the September, 2019 Eagles "Hotel California" concert at the MGM was a musical trip into near perfection.
The sound was very good even in our very expensive nosebleed seats.
The place was packed and the audience nonstop in its loud and persistent appreciation of all things Eagles, especially new members Deacon Frey and Vince Gill.
Longtime mega-talented members Henley, Walsh and Smith were true crowd pleasers, as they always are.
Having a full orchestra and an angelic choir from UNLV supporting the endeavor was at times ethereally mesmerizing to the point of enthrallment.
Once again the Eagles have lived up to their reputation as purveyors of musical excellence.

Overreactions, reality checks for Day 3 of 2024 NFL Draft: Jeremiah Trotter Jr. Week 1 starter for Eagles?
The top overreactions from the final day of the draft.
The 2024 NFL Draft has come to a close, with plenty of action on Day 3 that left notable names ( Jeremiah Trotter Jr. , Brenden Rice ) finding NFL homes after their fathers had successful NFL careers. Saturday spotlighted the running backs and wide receivers, with plenty of skill position players (non-quarterbacks) coming off the board.
With Day 3 and the NFL Draft concluded, which picks garnered an overreaction? Which is truly an overreaction vs. reality?
Jeremiah Trotter Jr. will start for Eagles in Week 1
Overreaction or reality: Overreaction
The Eagles didn't address linebacker high in this draft, waiting until the fifth round to trade up and land Trotter at No. 155. Philadelphia just doesn't value the linebacker position like other teams, which is why Trotter does have a chance to start Week 1.
Nakobe Dean and Devin White will get the first shot at starting jobs in training camp, while Oren Burks is the projected No. 3. Ben VanSumeren and Zack Baun are also in the mix.
If Trotter has a good camp and stands out the preseason, he has a shot. However, this all comes down to Dean's health.
Isaac Guerendo will star in 49ers offense
Overreaction or reality: Reality
The 49ers getting Guerendo is an excellent fit for the running back, whose speed will be immensely beneficial to an offense that gets runners open in space and relies on yards after the catch. As good as Christian McCaffrey is, Guerendo has the skill set to be a long-term replacement for him under Kyle Shanahan.
He'll make an immediate impact as the No. 2 running back in an offense with McCaffrey, Deebo Samuel , Brandon Aiyuk and George Kittle . Good thing Guerendo has Brock Purdy to get him the ball early and often.
Braelon Allen will play significant role in Jets offense his rookie season
The Jets drafted Allen in the fourth round as a power counter to Breece Hall's speed, a much-needed addition to an offense that has become very balanced this offseason. He has an excellent feel for the gap and gets a high chunk of his yardage after contact.
Allen is a weapon in short-yardage situations, a security blanket for a Jets offense that doesn't have to rely on the big run to get yards on the ground. He'll be a force for them come December and January.
Spencer Rattler is the future starting QB for Saints
Overreaction or reality: Overreaction
Rattler was the seventh quarterback taken in the draft at No. 150 overall, a mere 138 picks after Bo Nix at No. 12. The Saints have Derek Carr as the starting quarterback for 2024, as he has three years remaining on his deal. New Orleans ends the guaranteed salary after the 2025 season with Carr's contract, so Rattler could have two years as an understudy before taking over.
Never say never regarding Rattler, but it will take a lot for a fifth-round pick to be the future long-term starter.
Qwan'tez Stiggers will be an NFL starter despite never playing college football
Stiggers has an interesting backstory for the NFL. The former Fan Controlled Football league player ended up signing with the Canadian Football League's Toronto Argonauts last season, having five interceptions in 16 games. Stiggers didn't play college football, but made his mark in the CFL with 53 defensive tackles and three special teams tackles.
Can a player who never played college football start in the NFL? Why not, even though it likely isn't in Year 1. Stiggers has ball skills and awareness that translates to the NFL level and has the size to match up with NFL wideouts.
A fifth-round pick of the Jets, Stiggers will also get to learn from Sauce Gardner and D.J. Reed -- not bad tutelage for a rookie. He'll get a chance to showcase his skills as a starter down the line, even if it isn't in New York.
