Keith & Kristyn Getty

For over a decade, Keith and Kristyn Getty have occupied a unique space in the world of music as pre-eminent modern hymn writers with hymns such as “In Christ Alone” among the 32 songs in the CCLI top 500 between the USA and UK. Born in Northern Ireland, the award-winning artists became the first musicians of the modern era to be given the OBE from Queen Elizabeth II for service to music and hymn writing.

They have become ambassadors for the genre, from their “Sing” book and Conference which welcomes over 15,000 people in Nashville every year, to performing for Presidents and Prime Ministers, a hymn tour and Christmas tour which plays annually at Carnegie Hall and Kennedy Center (as well as two TV specials on PBS and TBN), as well as founding a publishing company, record label, and online learning site for a new generation of writers and church musicians. Keith and Kristyn live between Northern Ireland and Nashville with their four daughters.

Keith getty on sharing gospel message through christmas tour, discipling next generation through song.

Keith and Kristyn Getty

When it comes to songwriting, Keith and Kristyn Getty’s goal is straightforward: They want to help the next generation of believers internalize the Scriptures and love Jesus on a deeper level. And Christmas, they believe, is the perfect time to remind the world of the joy and hope found in Christ through song.

“I think the encouragement that we constantly want to give families in America and this age when the Christian faith and the Christian family is under attack is, let's stop being negative and defeatist or cynical,” Keith Getty told The Christian Post. “Let’s fill our own lives and our family's lives up with the joy of the Lord and the truth of the Gospel, and there's no better season to start that than at Christmas.”

The Irish husband and wife duo are on their nationwide "Sing! An Irish Christmas" tour, performing 19 shows in 15 cities across the U.S. The event features new songs from the Gettys along with their band of virtuoso Irish and American musicians, cultural Irish dancing, caroling with the audience, a full choir and special guest artists.

“We don't do Rudolph and Santa; it’s the great hymns of Christmas,” Getty said. “But in the Irish tradition, they're just a ton of fun. So the first half of the show is always like an Irish party, and the second half of the show is a lesson carol service, where we read through the [Christmas] story. To get to do it with our band and all their virtuosity and fun is just fantastic.”

The show, which celebrates the hymns of Christmas, will take place at notable venues, including New York City’s Carnegie Hall on Dec. 15 (an event recommended by the New York Times), Nashville’s Schermerhorn Symphony Center (Dec. 23), and three nights in Washington, D.C., (Dec. 17-19) at the Museum of the Bible, a place that shares the Getty’s vision of making the Bible come alive for the next century.

Last year, over 100 countries watched the live stream of their Christmas tour. This year, the Gettys hope to bring that number to 250.

“We want to touch people knowing that many, many are coming with different emotions this year,” Getty said. “This Christmas, there are lots of Christians who are delighted to sing God's praises, but there's also a lot of Christians here feeling very fearful, feeling very downcast. feeling desperate.”

Known for hymns including “In Christ Alone” and “Christ Our Hope in Life and Death,” the Gettys are today’s most prolific hymn writers. It’s estimated that more than 100 million people around the globe sing their hymns every year. Their recent album, Confessio - Irish American Roots , is nominated for a 2023 Grammy Award as Best Roots Gospel Album.

“We've never even entered for the Grammys before because we're just so focused on church music,” Getty said, adding that his team decided to put the album forward on a whim.

“It’s funny, but we're against Willie Nelson, so we’re not going to win,” he added with a chuckle.

The parents of four young children — all of whom participate in their Christmas concerts — the Gettys are passionate about discipling the next generation of believers through song. They recently established the Getty Music Foundation, an organization that aims to foster Christ-centered singing in underresourced parts of the world.

“If you want to catechize, if you want people to carry something to their deathbed, if you want to understand something, it's better to sing it than to teach it because teaching it requires such a level of memory that human beings aren't even capable of. Whereas, if they're singing something, they're saying it to themselves, they internalize it for the rest of their lives,” Getty said.

“If I was to give you 50 Bible verses, I'm willing to bet that 40 of them you would know because you sang them.”

The Getty Music team is also developing the Sing Hymnal , which is slated to be released in 2025 in partnership with Crossway. The project, Getty said, intends to help people understand the big picture of the God of the Bible — “not just the God that loves our praises or just the God that’s loving in kind of a generic way.”

“The Psalms, and the great hymns of history … tell us about the wonder of God," he said. "And they tell us about the glory of God and the wonder of the Christian story, and this Gospel story that we have in Christ. And then after that, our emotions play a part in it. So we tell the story ... [not] in a clunky kind of way, we tell it in a beautiful way. And then naturally, our human emotions respond.”

“The emphasis is on God, the emphasis is on the story,” he added. “Our response is secondary, but it’s real, and it’s fantastic.”

Looking to the future, Getty said he and his wife, along with their organization, hope to continue to encourage “biblically-writ singing” around the world through creative initiatives, writing, partnerships and tours.

“To be honest, it’s hard work; you get up every day, you go again, and you just keep writing," the songwriter said. "Most of the songs you write aren't very good, but you keep trying and every so often one turns out that isn't as bad as the rest.”

LIV Golf not going anywhere; “totally separate” from PGA Tour, PIF negotiations

Speaking ahead of LIV Golf’s Adelaide event in his native Australia, Greg Norman offered his perspective on the state of the game.

Share All sharing options for: LIV Golf not going anywhere; “totally separate” from PGA Tour, PIF negotiations

LIV Golf, Greg Norman

Since LIV Golf launched in the spring of 2022, golf has been in flux, with the game’s best players competing on two separate circuits.

Many other issues exist within this reality, too. Money, equity, and, given who LIV Golf’s beneficiary is, moral issues and geopolitical ramifications have all bled into the sport.

Nevertheless, in an attempt to rectify this, PGA Tour brass and the Saudi Public Investment Fund (PIF) established a framework agreement on Jun. 6, 2023 , that not only shocked the sporting world but also set a pathway for the two sides to come together and re-establish a unified golf tour. Negotiations have occurred since then, but a finalized deal remains far away.

Yet, LIV Golf did not appear within that framework agreement then, and they do not have any influence on those negotiations now, according to LIV Golf CEO Greg Norman .

“I would love to give you insight, but I don’t have any. We at LIV are totally separate from that part of the negotiation,” Norman said in South Australia ahead of this week’s LIV Golf Adelaide event.

Greg Norman

“We at LIV are a standalone company being invested in by the same investor interested in the game of golf. Our investor wanted to invest in LIV because he loved the opportunity of the franchise model, what he could do with it, and how we could build it out on a global platform.”

Since last June, Norman has continued to champion LIV Golf’s cause, indicating on numerous occasions that its strength as a start-up league has never been stronger.

Nobody knows how LIV will look or how it will fit into professional golf’s new structure should the PGA Tour and the PIF strike a deal.

But Norman remains as confident in LIV Golf as he ever has. He said he received numerous compliments at Augusta National , where he lingered among the patrons at this year’s Masters Tournament . Norman said dozens of people approached him there and told him they love what he and LIV Golf have accomplished.

“The support, the recognition, the comments that were made, it was almost unanimous for three straight days walking around with people,” Norman said.

“To see it and to hear it and to hear the comments they made about what’s happening to the game of golf and the go that LIV has brought to the game of golf, it was very, very strong for me. It was a very powerful three days.”

LIV Golf

Norman, who envisioned a global golf tour in the mid-1990s, has seen that dream become a reality through LIV. He has helped bring golf to different places around the world often neglected by the PGA Tour and other major tours, such as Singapore, Thailand, and his native Australia.

In its first full year of operation last year, the event in Adelaide welcomed 77,000 fans, making it LIV’s most successful event of 2023. The “Watering Hole,” which has drawn comparisons to TPC Scottsdale’s famous par-3 16th , was a smashing success, too.

Over 100,000 spectators are expected at the South Australia tournament this week.

“This event here from last to this year is the benchmark for LIV,” Norman said.

“We get all the other events, 13 events around the world, to take a look at what we’ve delivered here, what Adelaide has delivered, what the state government has delivered, and what the local community and the region have delivered, and you go. It can be done.”

Norman’s focus remains on LIV, not on the negotiations between the PIF and the PGA Tour.

“I don’t know what’s going on over there,” Norman added.

“I really don’t want to know what’s going on over there because we are so fixated on growing and developing and building out what LIV is today and looking and doing our schedule for 2025 and going into 2026. Our responsibility is to look after our people, our players, and where we want to go.”

Some 300 musicians, from Diplo to Nile Rodgers, lobby Congress for ticketing reform

From left, Nile Rodgers, Chappell Roan and Diplo are among the more than 280 musicians who signed a letter to senators in support of concert ticketing reforms.

What do Billie Eilish, Dave Matthews and Diplo have in common?

As of Thursday, they are among the more than 280 popular musicians who have signed a letter urging lawmakers to help reform the concert ticketing system.

Other prominent signatories include Becky G, Duran Duran, Fall Out Boy, Finneas, Graham Nash, Green Day, Nile Rodgers, ODESZA, Chappell Roan, Cyndi Lauper, Indigo Girls, Jason Mraz, Sia, Sylvan Esso and Lorde.

"We are joining together to say that the current system is broken: predatory resellers and secondary platforms engage in deceptive ticketing practices to inflate ticket prices and deprive fans of the chance to see their favorite artists at a fair price," the letter reads.

Live Nation and Ticketmaster tell Biden they're going to show fees upfront

Live Nation and Ticketmaster tell Biden they're going to show fees upfront

It goes on to say that the use of illegal bots, speculative ticket listings and deceitful advertising causes "real harm," including severing the relationship between artists and fans — "which forms the backbone of the entire music industry" — and allowing resellers to profit more than the artists themselves.

The artists are asking the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science and Transportation to help fix those problems by supporting the Fans First Act , which was introduced by a bipartisan group of senators last December. It was referred to and remains before the committee, which would need to approve it to bring it to a floor vote.

"We, as artists, as music lovers, and as concert attendees ourselves, urge you to support the Fans First Act to combat predatory resellers' deceptive ticketing practices and the secondary platforms, which also profit from these practices," the letter continues. "Predatory resellers should not be more profitable than the people dedicating their lives to their art."

The Fans First Act focuses on three priorities : ticket sales transparency, consumer protection and stopping bad actors.

Senators are calling on the Justice Department to look into Ticketmaster's practices

It would require live event ticket sellers and resellers to disclose more information about ticket costs and seat location, refund customers the full ticket price when events are canceled and create a reporting website for fans to file complaints.

"Even better, it backs all these regulations up with clear penalties and enforcement," the letter says.

The letter was organized by Fix the Tix , a coalition of over two dozen live event industry organizations led by the National Independent Venue Association (NIVA).

Since its formation in the fall of 2023, it has called on Congress to enact legislation that would protect fans from price gouging, ban fake tickets and ticket-buying bots, end fraudulent resale practices and ensure price transparency, among other reforms.

So how did this letter come together, and why now?

NIVA Executive Director Stephen Parker told NPR over email that industry groups representing artists — such as the Recording Academy and Music Managers Forum - U.S. — are a "critical part" of Fix the Tix's efforts.

"Artists engaged in those organizations heard about our efforts and volunteered to lend their voice to getting comprehensive ticketing reform passed," he said. "The letter is being sent now because time is running out in this Congress for the Senate and House to meaningfully address the predatory resale platforms and ticket brokers that plague fans and artists."

Ticketmaster and its parent company, Live Nation Entertainment, have come under increased scrutiny from artists and fans in recent years who accuse the companies of maintaining a monopoly over the industry ever since their controversial 2010 merger. Live Nation has repeatedly denied the allegations.

The Senate's Ticketmaster hearing featured plenty of Taylor Swift puns and protesters

The Senate's Ticketmaster hearing featured plenty of Taylor Swift puns and protesters

In particular, Ticketmaster's chaotic sale of Taylor Swift Eras Tour tickets in November 2022 left scores of fans empty-handed and outraged. Several state attorneys general launched investigations, a group of Swifties sued the companies for fraud and the Senate grilled Live Nation executives at a January 2023 hearing.

Lawmakers have since introduced several aptly-named bills to reform various aspects of the industry, like the TICKET Act and the BOSS and SWIFT Act .

For its part, Live Nation expressed support for the Fans First Act when it was first introduced in the Senate in December.

"We believe it's critical Congress acts to protect fans and artists from predatory resale practices, and have long supported a federal all-in pricing mandate, banning speculative ticketing and deceptive websites, as well as other measures," it said in a statement shared with NPR.

The Justice Department is said to be ramping up its antitrust probe into Live Nation, with unnamed sources telling the Wall Street Journal and Axios in recent weeks that the agency could file a lawsuit as soon as May.

Entertainment | earthquakes sign midfielder hernán lópez, maradona’s great-nephew, for record transfer fee, entertainment, entertainment | sadly for getty heiress, lavish sf city hall wedding (with guest gavin newsom) didn’t guarantee happiness, ‘it may seem weird to have such a huge wedding and then to pull the plug — but the rich are different than you and me,’ a getty family insider has said.

For some, it’s time for the wedding schadenfreude.

Billionaire Getty oil heiress Ivy Love Getty has filed for divorce, a little more than two years after she married photographer Tobias Engel in a lavish wedding in the rotunda of San Francisco City Hall — a spectacle that seized the attention of the world’s fashion media and made waves in Bay Area society and politics because of the presence of Gavin Newsom, Nancy Pelosi and London Breed.

But the marriage of J. Paul Getty’s great-granddaughter wasn’t meant to last, even with a ceremony that was officiated by then-House Speaker Pelosi and witnessed by 14 bridesmaids, including “Furiosa” star Anna Taylor-Joy. In January, Getty, a 26-year-old actor, model and society philanthropist, filed for divorce from Engel in New York City, the New York Times has reported.

“It may seem weird to have such a huge wedding and then to pull the plug — but the rich are different than you and me,” a Getty family insider told the New York Post, perhaps purposefully echoing the wisdom of “The Great Gatsby” author F. Scott Fitzgerald.

Instead, they say the marriage probably was doomed because it was a “rebound” relationship that developed during the pandemic. It also followed “the almost simultaneous deaths” of Getty’s father, due to drugs, and of her beloved grandmother, San Francisco society doyenne Ann Getty, who raised the future fashion darling in the Getty mansion in Pacific Heights.

Of course, the November 2021 wedding couldn’t have been a snap decision because of all the planning needed to orchestrate the four-day extravaganza, as described in a detailed report by Vogue. The event cost who knows how much and featured multiple wardrobe changes for the bride and an elegant reception for hundreds at the Getty mansion.

For the ceremony itself, celebrity event planner Stanlee Gatti worked his magic on City Hall, Vogue explained. He and his crew hung turquoise and rose-pink velvet drapes from the archways and a “waterfall” of pale pink orchids from the grand staircase railings. The bride walked down the aisle in an haute couture gown that sparkled with mirror shards, from John Galliano for Maison Margiela.

Aside from the over-the-top extravagance, there’s another aspect of the wedding that could fuel some people’s schadenfreude and make them less sympathetic to Getty’s “pandemic relationship” plight.

The New York Times report revealed that Getty and Engel actually were already married when they exchanged vows. It turns out that the couple married in a private ceremony in 2020, some 11 months before their City Hall display.

But rather than realize their mistake sooner rather than later, the couple indulged in a growing but contentious wedding trend . They had their so-called “do-over” wedding. This is when couples elope or marry in a small, hastily arranged ceremony, but then want their big party, and the bride, especially, wants to have her “Pretty Princess Day.”

That’s seems to be the case here, when Getty’s “do-over” wedding allowed her to don a  sparkly dress, walk down the aisle with great pageantry and be the center of attention. Etiquette experts and people on wedding-related subreddits tend to frown on do-over nuptials, saying that they can turn into “ego-fests” for couples who may fail to respect the true meaning of marriage.

With the news of the divorce, people can wonder if Getty and Engel truly understood the meaning of marriage. Getty family insiders say that the model may have been using the marriage to mask personal issues, such as trying to find her own way in life while carrying a famous name.

James Reginato, author of 2022’s “Growing up Getty: The Story of America’s Most Unconventional Dynasty,” said that Getty, who is now signed with Ford Models, “was a little bit at a loss during the pandemic and looking for someone to make a life with but it clearly wasn’t meant to last.”

Reginato also suggested that Getty may have realized her mistake soon after her wedding extravaganza. “She was going out all the time in New York and London and he wasn’t in any of the press pictures of her,” Reginato said. It looks like Getty hit the 2022 and 2023 Met Galas solo.

The insider who pointed out that the rich are different tried to soften the view of Getty, saying that she’s living with a unique burden — because she’s a Getty. The insider said, “Being saddled with that kind of inheritance can make it hard for you to find your place in life and hard to really know who your friends are.”

Thanks for contacting us. We've received your submission.

Till Lindemann wears thick glasses while looking down in a photo.

Till Lindemann is leaving Rammstein behind in 2024.

Starting in September, the bombastic frontman will embark on his first solo U.S. tour with special guests Twin Temple and Aesthetic Perfection in support of his 2023 solo album “Zunge.”

Midway through the fall run, the 61-year-old drops into New York’s The Rooftop at Pier 17 on Tuesday, Oct. 1.

While this will be Lindemann’s first solo stateside jaunt, it won’t be the first time he’s performed without Rammstein.

Most recently, he wrapped an international 2023-24 solo tour in Mexico, according to Set List FM . On that run, he regularly performed 19 songs — including two encores — per show.

While we can’t guarantee what he’ll bring to the stage on his forthcoming North American tour, we do know the best way to find out is live.

Can’t wait to see the lively Lindemann?

You’re in luck. Tickets can be snagged for all of his 2024 U.S. and Canada concerts and festival appearances as soon as today.

Although inventory isn’t available on Ticketmaster until Friday, April 26, fans who want to ensure they have tickets ahead of time can purchase on sites like Vivid Seats before tickets are officially on sale.

Vivid Seats is a secondary market ticketing platform, and prices may be higher or lower than face value, depending on demand.

They have a 100% buyer guarantee that states your transaction will be safe and secure and will be delivered before the event.

Till Lindemann tour schedule 2024

A complete calendar including all tour dates, venues, and links to buy tickets can be found below.

Till Lindemann festival appearances

This September and October, Lindemann will lend his talents to a pair of heavy multi-day musical extravaganzas.

For a closer look, here are the dates, venues and fellow headliners at both festivals.

Till Lindemann set list

As noted above, Lindemann wrapped his 2023-24 in Mexico on Jan. 4.

Here’s what he performed that night, courtesy of Set List FM .

01.) “Zunge” 02.) “Schweiss” 03.) “Fat” 04.) “Altes Fleisch” 05.) “Allesfresser” 06.) “Golden Shower” 07.) “Tanzlehrerin” 08.) “Ich weiß es nicht” 09.) “Sport frei” 10.) “Blut” 11.) “Praise Abort” 12.) “Platz Eins” 13.) “Fish On” 14.) “Gummi” 15.) “Steh auf” Encore

16.) “Knebel” 17.) “Ich hasse Kinder” 18.) “Skills in Pills” Encore II

19.) “Entre dos tierras” (Héroes del Silencio cover)

Till Lindemann new music

On Nov. 3, 2023, Lindemann dropped his solo album “Zunge.”

Comprised of 11 tracks, the heavy rocker stretches his musical muscles and alternates between intimate quiet and chaotic, epic loud — the sound Rammstein is known for — with ease.

Highlights include the quirky “Sports Frei,” thumping “Altes Fleisch” and the warbly anthem “Du hast kein Herz.”

Personally, we were most taken with the Ennio Morricone-esque “Tanzlehrerin” with its guitar licks, yearning vocals and gifted yet pained backing singer giving her all behind Lindemann.

Don’t sleep on the shockingly fun album closer “Selbst verliebt,” either. It’s an unexpected pop delicacy.

Want to hear for yourself?

You can listen to “Zunge” in its entirety here .

On Christmas 2023, Lindemann followed up the album release with the whirly, tongue-trilling single “Entre dos tierras” en español.

It has our stamp of approval as well; the song is quite a bit of fun.

Till Lindemann special guests

At all shows, Lindemann will be joined by a pair of opening acts.

To make sure you’re acquainted with their sounds, you can find each band’s most-streamed song on Spotify below.

Twin Temple: “Lucifer, My Love”

Aesthetic Perfection: “Spit It Out”

Till Lindemann controversy

Lindemann was accused of sexual assault by a female fan last June over social media. She alleged he drugged her at a pre-show Rammstein VIP party in Lithuania and later approached her fox sex during intermission.

This led to a backlash against Rammstein’s “VIP Experience;” fans believed Lindemann was using the ticket tier to bed fans.

After looking into the case, German prosecutors dropped the case due to a lack of evidence and testimony.

“The rapid termination of investigative proceedings by the Berlin state prosecutor’s office shows that there is insufficient evidence that our client allegedly committed sexual offen(s)es,” Lindemann’s lawyers said.

Rammstein drummer claimed Lindemann “has distanced himself from us in recent years and created his own bubble” and “things seem to have happened that, although legally ok, I personally don’t think are ok.”

Huge metal acts on tour in 2024

If Lindemann’s brief jaunt isn’t coming to a venue near you, we have just the solution.

Here are five metal acts that might be headed to your city these next few months.

•  Limp Bizkit

Neil Young Stuns at 2024 Tour Launch, Unveils Lost ‘Cortez the Killer’ Verse

By Andy Greene

Andy Greene

In typical Neil Young fashion, virtually nothing was revealed about his 2024 U.S. tour before it kicked off Wednesday night at San Diego’s Cal Coast Credit Union Open Air Theatre, other than the fact he’d be backed by Crazy Horse , and that Micah Nelson would be taking over guitar duties from Nils Lofgren. Would he pull a Greendale and debut an entire rock opera nobody had ever heard? Would he focus the set around the three new studio albums he cut with Crazy Horse between 2019 and 2022? Might he repeat the concept of his 2023 solo tour by spotlighting obscure Eighties and Nineties album tracks and skipping most of his hits?

They jammed for six minutes before Young sang the opening lines, igniting the crowd into a frenzy, but the big moment came near the end, when he began singing completely unfamiliar words. As he teased earlier this month , it was the legendary lost segment of the song that failed to record during the 1975 Zuma sessions because the console briefly lost power. Young recently found the lyric manuscript, and worked out where they originally fit in the song.

“I floated on the water,” Young sang. “I ate that ocean wave/Two weeks after the slaughter/I was living in a cave/They came too late to get me/But there’s no one here to set me free/From this rocky grave/To that snowed-out ocean wave.”

It was a remarkable moment to witness. After 49 years and over 540 live performances, the world finally got to hear the song as Young originally wrote it.

Editor’s picks

The 250 greatest guitarists of all time, the 500 greatest albums of all time, the 50 worst decisions in movie history, every awful thing trump has promised to do in a second term.

Young was talking about “Scattered (Let’s Think About Livin’),” from 1996’s Broken Arrow, which was the newest song they played all evening. The rest of the set was music recorded when Briggs was alive, largely between 1969 and 1979, beginning with “Don’t Cry No Tears.” He followed it up with a triple shot of Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere : “Down by the River,” “The Losing End,” and the title track. And it was a particularly mesmerizing “Down by the River” that stretched out for 16 blissful minutes.

Billie Eilish, Lorde, Green Day Among Artists to Sign Letter in Support of Ticketing Reform Act

Pearl jam, neil young, alanis morissette lead ohana fest 2024, phish reach jam-band bliss at the sphere in las vegas.

After the Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere mini-set, the quartet (Crazy Horse 4.0?) kicked into one of the greatest renditions of “Powderfinger” I’ve ever heard, thanks to improvisational guitar work prior to each verse by Young and Nelson. What came next was a 16-minute “Love and Only Love,” the band walking offstage, and then Young strapping on an harmonica rack for solo acoustic renditions of “Comes a Time,” “Heart of Gold,” and “Human Highway” that had the entire amphitheater singing along.

The band returned to wrap up the night with “Don’t Be Denied,” an autobiographical tale that carries a lot more emotional weight when Young sings it at age 78 as opposed to 28, and a thrashed-out “Hey Hey, My My (Into the Black).”

Billie Eilish Would Like to Reintroduce Herself

Team trump is ready to lose the supreme court immunity case. they’re celebrating, taylor swift and jack antonoff have reached their limit, kanye west announces 'yeezy porn' amid reports of adult film company.

He might duplicate this exact set when the tour continues the following night at the same venue. He might not repeat a single song. He may even perform a complete classic album, which is something he started doing late last year. The joy of seeing Neil Young is that you never have any idea what’s going to happen once the lights dim.

Celine Dion was diagnosed with Stiff Person Syndrome in 2022 and is opening up about how she’s learning to live with the rare autoimmune neurological disorder.

In a new interview, the Canadian singer discusses her health and says if she’ll return to touring.

Celine Dion Makes Surprise Appearance At The Grammys Amid Stiff Person Syndrome Diagnosis

She continued, “Five days a week I undergo athletic, physical and vocal therapy. I work on my toes, my knees, my calves, my fingers, my singing, my voice… I have to learn to live with it now and stop questioning myself. At the beginning I would ask myself: why me? How did this happen? What have I done? Is this my fault?”

Dion says she doesn’t have the answers as to why she got this illness and she only has two options, “Either I train like an athlete and work super hard, or I switch off and it’s over, I stay at home, listen to my songs, stand in front of my mirror and sing to myself. I’ve chosen to work with all my body and soul, from head to toe, with a medical team. I want to be the best I can be. My goal is to see the Eiffel Tower again!”

The “My Heart Will Go On” singer says that it’s her family, children, and fans that keep her strong and is grateful she has the means to have good doctors and treatments, adding, “I have this strength within me. I know that nothing is going to stop me.”

Since being diagnosed with SPS, Dion has been largely kept out of the public eye. In February of this year, she made a surprise appearance at the Grammys and presented an award to Taylor Swift .

When asked about getting back on stage and touring again, Dion said, “I can’t answer that… Because for four years I’ve been saying to myself that I’m not going back, that I’m ready, that I’m not ready… As things stand, I can’t stand here and say to you: ‘Yes, in four months’ [I will return]. I don’t know… My body will tell me.”

Customer

Lena, our guide in Moscow was excellent. She was very knowledgable and could answer any question we had for her. We liked that she could pick up on our interests and take us places we might not have thought of to go. When we realized that one of the places we had chosen to see would probably not be that interesting to us, she was able to arrange entry to the Diamond Fund and the Armoury for us. Riding the Metro with Lena was a real adventure and a lot of fun. In Saint Petersburg we found Anna well versed in the history of the Tsars and in the Hermitage collection. Arkady in Veliky Novgorod was a very good guide and answered all of our questions with ease. Novgorod was perhaps a long way to go for a day trip, but we did enjoy it. Vasily was a great driver to have and kept us safe with good humour and skill. We enjoyed ourselves so much, my daughter says she is already planning to return. We would both have no hesistation to recommend ExpresstoRussia to anyone we know.

Just wanted to let you know that My grandson Bruno and I couldn´t have been more pleased with our week in Moscow (6/15 - 6/21). We were absolutely enchanted with the whole experience, including getting lost a couple of times in the Metro during our free time. Although both our guides (both Eleanas) were excellent, I would particularly commend the first one (she took us to the Tatiakov, the KGB tour, and to that beautiful cemetery where so many great Russian artists, authors, composers, musicians, militarists, and politicians are buried). Her knowledge is encyclopedic; and her understanding of today´s Russia as a product of its past was, for us, truly enlightening. I will be taking another tour in Russia, with my wife, within the next two or three years. I will be in touch with you when the time comes. Meanwhile, I will refer you to other potential visitors to Russia as I meet them.

Moscow, a City Like No Other

Moscow is Russia’s largest city with a population of between 12 and 13 million. It is also Europe’s largest city and when you visit Moscow, you can feel it. The layout and architecture of the city is eclectic, ranging from crooked, ancient streets and alleyways to wide, bustling boulevards, from medieval churches to Stalin skyscrapers and to modern, glass buildings towering over everything and of course in the center of it all is the Kremlin and the magnificent Red Square. Moscow is also home to a fantastic, efficient and very beautiful metro system – each station having its own special design. In fact, Express to Russia’s Moscow metro tours and excursions are some of our most popular attractions that we offer. On our Moscow tours, you will see this and more.

Moscow Kremlin in the times of Ivan III

Moscow Tours centering on Russian History

Moscow has a long and interesting history and has been the capital of Russia in many of its different iterations – capital of the Grand Duchy of Moscow , the Russian Empire and of course the Soviet Union (who could ever forget the Soviet Union?). Moscow, was founded in the 12th century by Prince Yuri Dolgaruki (Yuri of the long arms – he really did have long arms!). From that time on, it was home to the Russian Tsars until Peter the Great moved the capital to St. Petersburg in 1703. The city has survived invasions and sieges from the Mongols, the Tartars, the Poles, Lithuanians and Napoleon but has always persevered. Our Moscow tours will enlighten you on this great history and give you insights into Muscovites and their unique culture. Our Moscow tours show you what the city is like today but also brings to life the past. Moscow never seems to sleep and is bursting with energy. A Moscow tour with Express to Russia is truly the best way of getting to know Russia’s largest and most vibrant city.

Frequently Asked Questions From Our Travelers

What is the best time to visit moscow.

Any time of year is fine depending on what you plan to do. Summertime is pleasantly warm, ideal for exploring the city and its vibrant atmosphere, but Moscow will be much busier and accommodation is more expensive. Winter can be quite cold but beautiful nonetheless, and this is unproblematic if you intend to spend most of your trip in museums and galleries. There are also various festivals and events organised throughout the year. For more information about the best time to visit, read our guide

How many days are enough in Moscow?

If you plan your itinerary strategically and aren’t averse to a packed schedule, you can cover Moscow’s main sights over a long weekend. Most popular attractions are in the city centre, and the Moscow Metro allows you to cover much ground in a small amount of time. Ensure that your accommodation is fairly central and book tickets in advance, so that you can make the most of your days. For an informative and well-organised day out, check out our Moscow day tours with options to suit all interests.

Do they speak English in Moscow?

As Russia’s capital city, tourists are well accommodated in Moscow. There should be English-speaking staff in restaurants, bars, hotels, shops and attractions in tourist hotspots, and there are also English-speaking tourist police. Transport services have English translations on their maps and English announcements via intercom; alternatively, order taxis from the Yandex Taxi app (Russian Uber), though it’s unlikely that your taxi driver will speak English. If you get stuck and cannot communicate, it’s fine to use Google Translate.

Is it safe to travel to Moscow?

It is no less safe to travel to Moscow than to any European city if you exercise common sense and look after your belongings. As with every city some regions can be more unsavoury than others, but no tourist attractions are located there. The traffic in Moscow is notorious, so exercise caution when crossing roads. Do not take unlicensed taxis; book in advance or take public transport, which is widespread and perfectly safe. If you encounter any problems, look for the special tourist police who can help you. 2024 PGA Championship odds, field: Surprising PGA picks from golf model that has hit 11 majors

Sportsline's proven model simulated the pga championship 2024 10,000 times and revealed its pga golf picks for valhalla golf club.

collin-morikawa-usatsi.jpg

The 2024 PGA Championship is quickly approaching, as Valhalla Golf Club gets set to host the world's top golfers beginning on Thursday, May 16. It's been a 2024 PGA Tour season marked by Scottie Scheffler asserting his dominance. The No. 1-ranked player in the world secured his second career major victory at the Masters and has finished on top of the leaderboard four times in 2024. He comes into the PGA Championship 2024 with momentum, but he'll be challenged by a loaded 2024 PGA Championship field that is stacked with fellow major champions, including Rory McIlroy, Justin Thomas, Brooks Koepka and Jordan Spieth.

The latest 2024 PGA Championship odds list Scheffler as the 4-1 favorite. He's followed by Jon Rahm (9-1), McIlroy (10-1), Koepka (16-1) and Ludvig Aberg (16-1) on the PGA odds board. Tiger Woods, a 15-time major champion, is one of the 2024 PGA Championship longshots at 125-1. Before locking in any 2024 PGA Championship picks of your own, entering PGA DFS lineups on sites like DraftKings or FanDuel, or finalizing PGA Championship props and PGA Championship Pick Six entries, be sure to see the 2024 PGA Championship golf predictions and projected leaderboard from the proven computer model at SportsLine .

Our proprietary model, built by DFS pro Mike McClure, has been red-hot since the PGA Tour resumed in June of 2020. In fact, the model is up almost $10,000 on its best bets since the restart, nailing tournament after tournament.

McClure's model correctly predicted Scottie Scheffler would finish on top of the leaderboard at the 2024 Masters, the Arnold Palmer Invitational, and The Players Championship this season. McClure also included Hideki Matsuyama in his best bets to win the 2024 Genesis Invitational. That bet hit at +9000, and for the entire tournament, McClure's best bets returned nearly $1,000.

The model also predicted Jon Rahm would be victorious at the 2023 Sentry Tournament of Champions and The American Express. At the 2023 Masters, the model was all over Rahm's second career major victory heading into the weekend. Rahm was two strokes off the lead heading into the third round, but the model still projected him as the winner. It was the second straight Masters win for the model, which also nailed Scheffler winning in 2022.

In addition, McClure's best bets included Nick Taylor (70-1) winning the 2023 RBC Canadian Open, Jason Day (17-1) winning outright at the 2023 AT&T Byron Nelson, and Rickie Fowler (14-1) finishing on top of the leaderboard at the 2023 Rocket Mortgage Classic.

This same model has also nailed a whopping 11 majors entering the weekend and hit the Masters three straight years. Anyone who has followed it has seen massive returns.

Now with the PGA Championship 2024 field taking shape, SportsLine simulated the tournament 10,000 times, and the results were surprising. Head to SportsLine now to see the projected leaderboard.

Top 2024 PGA Championship predictions

One major surprise the model is calling for at the 2024 PGA Championship: Brooks Koepka, a three-time PGA champion and one of the favorites, stumbles and doesn't even crack the top 10. Koepka has five major tournament wins on his resume and a reputation for elevating his level of play in big events. However, his last two major starts haven't gone well as he was 45th at the Masters, which followed a 64th-place finish at last year's Open Championship. He's failed to shoot par in each of his last seven rounds at major tournaments.

After notching three tournament wins in 2023, including last year's PGA Championship, it has been tough sledding for Koepka in 2024. He has no victories, or even top-fives, and across his six starts, he has three times as many finishes outside the top 25 (three) as he has inside the top 10 (one). He played Valhalla at the 2014 PGA Championship and finished in a tie for 15th place, but that placement ranks just eighth out of his 11 career PGA Championship starts.

Another surprise: Collin Morikawa, a 25-1 longshot, makes a strong run at the title. He's a target for anyone looking for a huge payday. Morikawa has the game to finish near the top of the leaderboard at Valhalla. The 27-year-old has won six times on the PGA Tour, which includes two major championships.

Morikawa also secured a third-place finish at the 2024 Masters and enters the 2024 PGA Championship ranked fifth in driving accuracy (77.61%), 23rd in birdie average (4.33) and 27th in one-putt percentage (42.80%). He ranks just 106th in greens in regulation percentage (65.02%), but if he's striking the ball well at Valhallal, he'll have a shot at winning another major championship.  See who else to pick here .

How to make 2024 PGA Championship picks

The model is also targeting three other golfers with odds of 25-1 or longer to make a strong run at the title. Anyone who backs these longshots could hit it big. You can only see the model's picks here .

A Puzzling Move by a Political Survivor Grips Spain

Despite insisting that allegations of influence peddling against his wife are false, Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez says he is considering stepping down, bewildering Spain.

Pedro Sánchez stands in Parliament, surrounded by seated legislators.

By Jason Horowitz and Rachel Chaundler

A wave of political turmoil crashed over Spain on Thursday as Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez publicly weighed resigning his post after a judge agreed to investigate his wife over allegations that he and other officials decried as a politically driven smear campaign.

The judge’s decision to take up the case — which was brought by a self-described anti-graft group on the basis of online news reports about alleged influence peddling — prompted Mr. Sánchez’s supporters to coalesce behind him and public prosecutors to move quickly on Thursday to try to get the case dismissed.

Mr. Sánchez, whose political survival skills have for years astonished his supporters and detractors alike, wrote in a public letter Wednesday that the accusations against his wife, Begoña Gómez, were false and amounted to harassment. One of the most prominent leftist leaders in Europe, Mr. Sánchez has canceled his public schedule while he reflects on his next move. He plans to address the nation on Monday.

As Mr. Sánchez holed up with his family and resisted the entreaties of his allies to hit the campaign trail ahead of key elections in the Catalonia region and for the European Parliament, supporters talked about mobilizing rallies to convince him to stay.

And a wide array of Spaniards, from the political elite to citizens on the streets, expressed bewilderment at the uncharacteristic retreat by a prime minister who only recently had reclaimed his post in elections last summer, and by the country’s odd state of affairs.

“It’s a mess,” said Pablo Simón, a political scientist at Carlos III University in Madrid, who said he was struck by the deeply personal tone of Mr. Sánchez’s letter. He added that the investigation into Mr. Sánchez’s wife of 18 years had apparently triggered an emotional reaction, because, politically speaking, “there were no clear incentives for this gambit, it’s very risky.”

“He has done something with no precedent in a democracy,” Mr. Simón added, suggesting that the prime minister was betting the public would find the investigation against his wife so outrageous as to prompt a national reckoning. Mr. Sánchez sought a “social confidence vote,” he said, in which he is calling on the public, the media and even the establishment opposition, to take sides and decide “do you consider this acceptable?”

The trigger for the sudden crisis was the decision by a Spanish judge to entertain a complaint from Clean Hands, a group known for filing cases in court against politicians and other prominent Spaniards.

The group filed a complaint accusing Ms. Gómez of influence peddling and corruption — citing as potential evidence online news reports that it has acknowledged could contain false information. The judge ordered a preliminary investigation based on those online media reports.

Two of the articles allege that in 2020, Ms. Gómez signed two letters of recommendation to support the bid for a public contract by a group of companies to which she has personal and professional ties. The articles claim that the main stakeholder of the group designed the Masters’s program that Ms. Gómez ran at Complutense University of Madrid and that the companies supported by Ms. Gómez competed with 20 rivals and won three contracts worth more than 10 million euros, or about $10.7 million.

Clean Hands’ complaint also cited an article in the online media outlet El Confidencial that claimed Ms. Gómez met with representatives of Air Europa, a Spanish airline, in 2020 to sign a confidential agreement in which the airline would pay 40,000 euros a year ($43,000) to the Africa Center she led at a private university. Months later, the airline received more than €400 million in bailout funds during the pandemic.

In a statement, the Africa Center denied it had “ever received financial contributions” from Air Europa’s parent company or affiliates. It said the Center signed during Ms. Gómez’ tenure in 2020 a sponsorship deal with the airline’s parent company that included four airline tickets to a work event in London, which was “never executed” because of the pandemic. It said Ms. Gómez’s 2018 contract specifically prevented the Center from benefiting from her “family position.”

The Spanish press has widely reported that one of the news reports cited by Clean Hands has already been shown to be wrong. The online paper The Objective accused the government of burying the information that a subsidy had been awarded to the prime minister’s wife — but it turns out that the recipient of the subsidy was a businesswoman in the catering industry who shares the same name as Ms. Gómez.

The judge has summoned two journalists to testify about their reporting. Ms. Gómez, the wife of Mr. Sánchez, has not been summoned and has not commented on the complaint.

The government, however, has called the Clean Hands complaint groundless, arguing that Ms. Gómez did nothing irregular or improper, and that headlines linking the prime minister to corruption fed into the hands of the opposition that had slung the mud in the first place.

On Thursday, Spain’s independent prosecuting authority made what it called a “direct appeal” to the Provincial Court in Madrid to dismiss the preliminary investigation.

Miguel Bernad, the leader of Clean Hands, has acknowledged that the complaint could be based on false information.

“It will now be the judge who must verify whether said journalistic information is true or not,” he wrote in a statement.

Mr. Sánchez wrote in his public letter that the accusations against his wife, who played a key role in his political ascent, were not true.

“We have been denying the falsehoods expressed, while Begoña has taken legal action so that these same digital companies rectify what, we maintain, is spurious information,” he wrote, adding it was “an operation of harassment and demolition by land, sea and air to try to weaken me politically and personally by attacking my wife.”

In Spain, individual citizens in groups like Clean Hands can bring legal complaints even when they are not personally involved and have suffered no damages. The group’s website describes its main purpose as filing “all types of complaints against political or economic corruption that harms the public or general interest.”

Spain’s National Court in 2021 found the group guilty of using smear campaigns to extort banks and companies. Spain’s Supreme Court overturned the decision because it said no crime was committed, but called the group’s methods “ reprehensible .”

Deputy Prime Minister Yolanda Díaz, the leader of the left-wing Sumar coalition, echoed the complaints of a smear campaign on Wednesday and declared that right-wing forces could “not be allowed to win.”

But Spain’s main conservative opposition party, still smarting from its failure to form a government despite having received more votes than Mr. Sánchez, who outflanked them by building a broader coalition, seized the chance to pile on a political enemy.

Accusing Mr. Sánchez of engaging in victimization for political gain, the center-right Popular Party insisted the prime minister tell all about “the scandals surrounding his party, his government and his partner.”

If Mr. Sánchez resigns, several procedures are likely, experts said.

His government would enter a caretaker status until Parliament agreed on a new candidate to try and cobble together a governing coalition. Mr. Sánchez could also ask Parliament to decide whether he should remain through a confidence vote requiring only a simple majority.

Mr. Sánchez could also call another snap election, as he did after his party took a shellacking in regional elections last year.

At that time, he managed to gather enough support to block the formation of a government by the center-right Popular Party and the far-right Vox party. He then pieced together a parliamentary majority out of the fractious, and often opposing, other parties.

But calling a snap election would carry risks, especially since the latest polls show his Socialist Party trailing the Popular Party.

Moscow City Tourism Committee organizes conference for Indian MICE market stakeholders

Recognising market demand, the Moscow City Tourism Committee organized a conference for representatives of the Indian MICE industry, to introduce them to the tourism strengths of the Russian capital. MICE stands for Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions, and is a type of tourism in which large groups, usually plan things well in advance.

The event took place on April 19 in Delhi and brought together over 100 participants from MICE agencies of both countries, corporate customers, representatives of the travel industry in Moscow, Aeroflot and the Indian branches of Sberbank. Business tourism is one of the most promising directions for Moscow.

In 2023, the capital was visited by 3.7 million business tourists - 7 per cent more than in 2022. And India remains one of the leaders among visitors from non-CIS countries in terms of the number of business travellers. "The Russian capital as a centre of business tourism and corporate events is already an established and a strong brand in the international arena," commented Anastasia Popova, Deputy General Director for International and Industry Cooperation of Project Office for the Development of Tourism and Hospitality in Moscow.

"Now our task is to demonstrate to our Indian partners all the possibilities of organizing high-value MICE events in Moscow in combination with already proven tourist programs," said Popova. At the Shaping MICE Future Conference, industry experts from Russia and India pronounced statements and speeches on the future of MICE events in these two countries, a presentation of the MICE potential of Moscow was showcased, and an analytical report on the state of the outbound MICE market in India was presented to the visitors.

During the panel discussion, participants assessed the current status and interaction peculiarities with the MICE market in India and developed recommendations for the MICE industry in Moscow during the general brainstorming session. Representatives of the Indian MICE industry participated in B2B negotiations to find new cross-partners in the Moscow business environment and among representatives of the hospitality industry.

Representatives of the MICE industry took part in the event from Moscow. Among them were DMC (Grand Rus, Academservice, Headed Goose, Satguru Travel, Isba Rus, Hug the Bear, Mellenium Group) as well as representatives of other partners interested in the development of MICE cooperation between Russia and India: Global transfers provider i'way and hotels Edge Seligerskaya and Edge Vinogradovo Moscow by Rotana.

"In 2024, we have witnessed a significant surge (more than quadruple) in the demand for transfers by Russians visiting India, both for business and leisure purposes. Muscovites are leading the trend, with 80 per cent of transfer bookings originating from the capital since the beginning of the year. Additionally, we observe a growing interest from Indian tourism agencies in exploring Russia, resulting in a substantial increase in our collaboration," commented Dmitriy Saraykin, co-founder of Global Transfer Provider i'way. The Shaping MICE Future conference allowed the Moscow City Tourism Committee to form a pool of MICE industry representatives in Moscow to prioritize incoming requests for events and clarify India's requirements for business and corporate events to build mutually effective work. Indian colleagues received up-to-date information about Moscow as a safe and attractive MICE destination and were able to find potential partners among representatives of the MICE industry of the Russian capital and were able to present the MICE market in India.

"The event served as a remarkable platform for fostering meaningful dialogue and collaboration within the tourism industry. The event provided us with invaluable opportunities to engage with key stakeholders from the tourism department, as well as tour operators and service providers. The insights gained during the event underscored the Moscow City Tourism Committee's keen interest in the Indian outbound market, and we are optimistic about the promising prospects for Moscow as a destination, particularly in the post-pandemic landscape. We firmly believe that with concerted efforts and strategic initiatives, Moscow has the potential to emerge as a top-choice destination for Indian tourists," said Mudit Mathur, director of Tours Delite India, representing Academ Service - Russia in India. The conference also assessed the solutions to foreign demand for non-standard venues and elements in MICE programs, such as museums, parks, theaters and others. Holding MICE events at offbeat locations, such as the State Historical Museum, the Moscow Planetarium and Khudozhestvenny Cinema, is becoming popular.

This helps to attract conference organizers and creates a unique experience for the participants. Working in this format, many visitors who come to Moscow on a business trip want to return with their families and spend time as regular tourists. (ANI)
