Tours to the Holy Land: Trips & Israel Tour Packages 2024, 2025

"Every place we visited was breathtakingly beautiful, with stunning landscapes and rich historical and cultural heritage. We highly recommend visiting Israel to anyone who wants to experience an unforgettable journey. We had a life-changing time there and are already planning to return." Simon L. and Beatriz G. – Tour to Israel/Egypt/Jordan February 2024 "I had a wonderful time in Israel. I felt while I was there the precautions that were taken for our safety were well in hand. I still got to experience many holy sites and be blessed by walking the path that Jesus walked. Every day was started in prayer, singing, or scripture reading which also extended the blessing of the trip." Quincie L. – Tour to Israel/Egypt/Jordan February 2024

Our Israel tours & Holy Land tours of 9-24 days for the Evangelical Protestant Bible believer are what Pilgrim Tours does best. Prepare yourself for a life-changing journey to walk where Jesus walked and visit Jerusalem, Galilee, & Samaria. Each of our Israel tours is led by a local guide who is an experienced expert on the historical, cultural, scenic, and spiritual history of the Holy Land. If you travel with 10 or more people, a private group tour can easily be arranged. Pilgrim Tours can customize an itinerary to fit your group needs with many options to choose from.

Concerned about safety? As a Christian tour operator, the staff at Pilgrim Tours takes a Biblical perspective regarding the current situation in the Middle East. We do not believe that peace in Israel is something that will occur until the Prince of Peace comes to restore His kingdom. Please do not make a reservation with us based on the hopes of a calm future. If you long for the special blessings only available in Israel, we will take you there. An expert driver and guide will carefully keep you from any areas that could present a problem and treat you to the riches of Israel as our special guest.

Featured Sites in Israel

Explore a vast selection of beautiful historical and Biblical locations throughout Israel with our Israel Holy Land tour. You can visit Jerusalem, Galilee, and parts of Samaria, getting the life-changing opportunity to see where Jesus and many other Biblical figures lived and walked. We even offer Holy Land tours that allow you to see the Dead Sea, the Garden Tomb, and the Jordan River Baptism Site. Like all of our Europe tours , our Israel Holy Land tours are led by local guides who have extensive knowledge of the area and its history. If you want to experience the history of Israel and see the Bible come to life, our Holy Land tours give you that opportunity.

The city of Jerusalem offers a unique convergence of Judaism, Christianity, and the Muslim faith. For Christians who visit Jerusalem, you will learn about many stories of the Bible while walking her streets. Many actors in the Bible such as Abraham, King David, King Solomon, the twelve disciples and Jesus all lived, visited, or spent time there. The Passion week of Christ will be highlighted during our stay as we visit the Mount of Olives, the Garden of Gethsemane, the Western Wall, the Way of Suffering, and the Garden Tomb.

Sea of Galilee

Nowhere in Israel does the Bible come to life more than along the shores of the Sea of Galilee. Pilgrims who visit the Galilee region have the opportunity to imagine what life was like 2,000 years ago and what Jesus and the twelve disciples experienced while fishing on the Sea of Galilee. The peaceful setting and the natural wonders of the Golan Heights to the east and Mt. Arbel to the west make for a great way to start your morning in quiet reflection. During our tour, we explore the Biblical towns of Capernaum, Magdala, and Nazareth and take a meaningful cruise on the Sea of Galilee.

The Dead Sea is not only the lowest and most lifeless lake in the world, but also nearly 10 times saltier than the ocean. Travelers will enjoy the beautiful colors of the blue water and the red mountains of Jordan to the east. Take time to enjoy a once-in-a-lifetime Dead Sea “float” either in the sea itself or at one of the warm salt water pools at our hotel. The Dead Sea experience is truly a bucket list visit you won’t want to miss!

Garden Tomb

Our visit to the Garden Tomb and its surrounding gardens is normally one of the highlights of our tour to Israel. The Garden Tomb is a rock-cut tomb in Jerusalem that was unearthed in 1867 and is considered by some Protestants to be the site of the burial and resurrection of Jesus. Our visit offers a unique time of prayer, reflection, communion, and praise, which will be a special life-long memory for many travelers.

Jordan River Baptism Site

The Jordan River Baptist Site or “Yardenit” is a baptism site located along the Jordan River just south of the Sea of Galilee in northern Israel. This site is frequented by Christian Pilgrims who enjoy imagining the setting of the baptism of Jesus. For anyone who would like to be baptized in the Jordan River, Yardenit has been developed to be a peaceful setting with beautiful gardens, clean colored water, changing facilities, showers, and a nice souvenir shop.

Caesarea Philippi

To many Pilgrim travelers, Caesarea Philippi is a special surprise while on their tour. Located along the rushing springs of Mt. Hermon, the beautiful and natural setting is where Jesus asked his disciples “Who do men say that I am?” He asked this question while observing the pagan worship of the god Pan as worshipers offered their sacrifice at the “Gates of Hell.” Our time at Caesarea Philippi is one of many opportunities throughout our tour to see the lessons and message of the Bible come to light in a special way.

Israel Tours: Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best month for the Holy Land tour?

Taking a trip to Israel during the spring or fall offers the most enjoyable weather of the year but normally has the largest crowds. If you want to enjoy a peaceful tour with fewer crowds, consider visiting between December and February or June and August. We offer Israel and Jordan tours throughout the year, so you can select a trip that works for your schedule.

How many days do you need for a Holy Land tour?

We offer several types of tours of the Holy Land, so the duration of your tour depends on the tour package you choose. The Best of Israel Tour is our most basic offering and includes a Sea of Galilee boat ride, a trip to the Jordan River Baptism Site, the Dead Sea, and many opportunities to walk on the same land Jesus walked on. This is our shortest trip at just 9 or 10 days. Our most involved trips allow you to experience a wide range of historical locations over the course of a few weeks. Egypt tours are included in some of these packages, as well as tours in Greece and other countries. These tours can take up to 24 days, giving you the chance to spend an extended period of time learning about and visiting different parts of the world. From our Turkey tours to all of our Israel Christian tours, all of our tours feature a first-class hotel rating for the country you visit. We do offer some upgraded tours that offer better lodging options. You can review our hotel categories at https://www.pilgrimtours.com/company/hotelcomparison.htm . Check out any of our tours to view a day-by-day itinerary and see what amenities are included with each tour.

What is the dress code in Israel?

The dress code in Israel is different from other parts of the world. There are a few dress code basics you should understand before booking Israel tours: When you’re in Israel, there is no strict dress code. You can wear what you feel comfortable wearing. However, both men and women should try to dress conservatively and cover their shoulders and knees when visiting any of the religious sites throughout Israel. Generally speaking, it’s best to avoid tank tops and shorts. Men need to cover their heads when visiting the Western Wall. Pilgrim Tours provides a Pilgrim Tours ball cap upon arrival in Israel, but you might consider purchasing an affordable kippa that you can bring when you visit Jewish sites. Some places may offer a free kippa, but these are generally low quality. (Women are not required to cover their heads at any sight.) You can figure out what you need to pack and how to dress each day by looking at the itinerary for our Holy Land tours. Guides normally offer guidance on how to dress for the next day while on tour. We also suggest looking at the extended weather forecast as you prepare and pack for your trip.

Is there a lot of walking involved on an Israel Tour?

Our Israel tours do require a significant amount of walking each day and you should be able to walk unassisted 3-4 miles per day on average. Make sure you have a comfortable pair of shoes that provide adequate support. While there are bus and boat rides during these tours, you have to walk quite a bit to explore some of the Biblical sites. Our tour guides normally give the group a few options at sites for those that have physical limitations. One thing to keep in mind is that there are many hills and valleys in Israel which can make walking even more taxing. The amount of walking you have to do may vary based on the tour you take, so look at the itinerary before choosing your tour. The good news is that Israel is a beautiful country to see on foot, and you’ll have several opportunities to sit down and give your feet a rest. As long as you have a good pair of shoes and comfortable clothes, it’s easy to forget about all the walking you’re doing and enjoy the tour.

What passport & visa information do I need for your Israel tours?

U.S. citizens need a valid U.S. passport with at least six months validity beyond their intended stay to enter Israel. Make two photocopies of your passport. Leave one copy at home and carry the other separately from your original. Israel: U.S. and Canadian Citizens do not need a Visa when entering Israel. Non U. S. /Canadian Citizens are responsible to fulfill appropriate entry requirements of destination. Contact your Consulate office for requirements.

What common languages will be spoken during your Israel tours?

Hebrew, Arabic and English.

What currency can I use on your Israel tours?

The U.S. dollar is widely accepted across Israel, and we suggest bringing about $30 for each day you’ll be on tour. U.S. dollars are recommended for use for small purchases and lunches. Lunches typically cost $15-20. It is important to bring about 20 $1 bills as some bathrooms charge a small fee for use. Credit cards may also be used for larger purchases. ATMs in Israel are all connected to European and American banking systems. Please be advised that the ATM machines dispense money in SHEKELS – NOT U.S. DOLLARS. Please notify your bank before traveling overseas.

Do I need to bring a converter for the Israel tour?

Israel uses the European plug with two round pins. You will need to bring along the necessary converters and adapters to operate any 120 volt appliances such as hair dryers and electric razors as well as camera and cell phone chargers. Electricity in Israel is 220 volts 50 Hz.

What is the time zone for your Israel tours?

The time zone for Israel is seven hours ahead of EST and two hours ahead of GMT.

What climate should I expect during your Israel tours?

In Israel the climate is temperate, and temperatures all year-round are reasonable. Israel has two main seasons: winter (from November to March) is cold and rainy in most parts of the country; summer (from April to October) is hot and dry with little or no rainfall. The desert areas can be extremely hot in summer time.

Mo was an excellent tour leader in that he has such passion and enthusiasm about Jordan. I learnt so much about the history and culture and so enjoyed all of the activities. Heritage of the Holy Land

Itinerary covered all the places we wanted to see. The accommodation for tourist class was a little too far from the main city centre especially in Jerusalem (we were at Rimonim and had to take tram plus additional bus or taxi to get to and from the main centre of Jerusalem) and also Tiberias (stayed at Prima where we had to walk up and down a hill for 25 minutes to get to the seafront). We took half board option and the hotel buffet dinners provided every night was delicious and well worth the cost! Breakfast was also good. Would recommend going outside of summer time as the heat can get quite unbearable at times especially with the outdoor sites included in the itinerary. Transportation to and from sites and airport transfers were excellent. Guide was knowledgeable. Overall, good experience!

The tour was very good. One thing that bugged me was the tip we needed to contribute to. According to the trip notes, the participation was optional and the amount could be decided by us. Which was not the case. I'm not saying I wouldn't have tipped, the driver and the bedouin family who transported and cooked for us more than deserved their money. Perhaps the information needs to be clearer.

Michael, Ayman, Tamer, Moses, and Walid were the best. I know we booked the trip last minute, and I am sure that was a challenge. We will be planning more trips in the future and we will be in touch. Step by step Holy Land Travel Tour Group Guide

How to Organize Group Tours to the Holy Land

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. Philippians 4:6

Congratulations you have made a rewarding decision by leading a trip to the Holy Land, just like the Western Wall in Jerusalem built brick by brick for strength, this Step by step guide can help you with useful suggestions and tips to make your travel tour group efforts strong, spiritual, and successful.

To register a tour group, select, customize an itinerary contact us by E-mail or call toll free USA/CAN: 1 800 933 4421.

Begin your Journey as a Christian Group Leader

Organizing and leading others on a trip to the Holy Land , the land of the Bible, where Jesus walked is perhaps one of the most meaningful and rewarding experience in a lifetime. Not only are you providing a deep spiritual experience for yourself, but for others in your group with an opportunity to explore their spirituality in the Holy Land, and reinforcing, and many times creating a deep connection with the bible and faith, because one thing is to read about places in the bible, and another is to actually see it with your very own eyes.

Step 1 Planning a trip to the Holy Land, deciding when to go

Consider the following, and deciding on an itinerary.

How far in advance should I begin planning a trip? We suggest a minimum of six to nine months before a tour departure, however ideally if you are new to hosting travel tour groups, one year in advance provides time to prepare, promote and generate interest, as well as allow time for your community, church, and friends to prepare for the necessary vacation time and finances.  The key is to plan far enough ahead so you can accomplish your goals and carry out and accomplish your plans with the departure deadline in mind.

When is the best time to travel? It’s up to you, you more then anyone knows your church, and community schedules, however many Christian groups prefer to schedule their trip at a time other then the busy holiday seasons. For example one of the most beautiful times to visit the holy land is right after Easter holiday. You also may want to consider the weather, from November to March Israel has cooler temperatures and some rain. June to August are very warm. Give us a call, we can help you decide on the best time for you and your group to travel.

Decide on an itinerary Deciding on a itinerary is best when considering your vision of your group journey, what kind of experience do you want to provide? Do you only want to focus on Christianity and bible sites? Do you want to provide a Christian experience as well as a connection of the land, people, and history of Israel? Do you want to include other recreational activities?  We can help you customize a special itinerary just for your group, or select our signature itinerary featuring inspiring Holyland tour highlights , perfectly designed and planned for Holy Land Christian group travel.

Step 2 Get the word out! Promote your special Holy Land travel event

There’s nothing more powerful then the recruitment of members by other members, a social-network of common interest. To accomplish this, the first essential step is to identify individuals or a team in your ministry that can drive the overall process. No special skills are required, however interpersonal skills and enthusiasm are a must. Often, the pastor or ministry leader will select people from his staff or congregation to help mobilize and coordinate the travel event.

Set goals and enlist support Once you have set a team in place, set and establish goals for your travel tour date, as an example, “Our ministry will send a group of 20 church members in our fall trip.” To set realistic goals perhaps speak to other tour leader or organizers from your ministry or other ministries with experience in organizing travel tour groups to the holy land. Now that you have goals, enlist as much help and support from a enthusiastic member in your ministry who is passionate about the trip to the holy land. This support can be crucial in getting the word out about your trip.

Promote and be creative In order to promote your travel tour trip to Israel, you will need effective marketing materials. We can provide to you an excellent Christian Leader tool kit, complete with sample letters, promotional flyers, power point presentations, videos, banners, which can all be used for your own ministry.

Be creative, here are just some ways you can get the word out!

01 Create adds in your weekly Sunday church bulletin with a clear call to action, “Travel with us to the land of the bible, contact John in our parish office."

02 Post colorful posters and flyers in your ministry, church, and Christian schools, again with clear call to action.

03 Man a information table after Sunday services along with flyers, posters, and other marketing material.

04 Use your parish email database to blast out emails about your upcoming travel tour group event. Encourage all to join your email lists.

05 Attract members by letting your community know who has signed up for the trip.

06 If you have a website, create a page dedicated to promoting the trip date, and encourage all to “Like” it and share it on social media.

Step 3 Be consistent, and turn interested members into committed travelers

Set a schedule of announcements about your travel tour date, besides from spreading the word, it is crucial to obtain names and contacts of individuals whom show even a slight interest in going. This list is a great tool to make future trips much easier.

Create an easy way to sign up for your trip or call to action, gather sign up sheets with contact information including names, address, phone numbers, and e-mails. Provide an email address where all enquiries can be made, and with a follow up response provided immediately. Provide a reservation and call to action to us your partner, for example, “Sign up today, call Israel Tourism Consultants at 1-800-933-4421 or e-mail them and ask to join the United Methodist Church trip on October.” We’ll take care of all the reservation details, with one simple phone call or e-mail from your member.

Step 4 Ask for commitment, retain participants

We can work with you with setting up a group deposit amount and deadline, and we can execute this request when setting up a call to action into our call center. You can also collect this amount from your individual travelers, and we can work out the details on amount and deadlines.

Retain travelers, means ensure that those people who registered follow up and actually travel. You can do this by communicating regularly, send out any new information on your trip, such as, insight about the trip new participants, provide travel trip details including itineraries, trip route, packing lists, and special customized activities if any for your group.

Step 5 Enjoy and experience the land of the Bible

Walk where Jesus walked, in the Holy Land! Keep our local representative and professional guide contact information with you at all times. Take a photos, make sure someone is capturing all the highlights, post pictures on a blog, and encourage members to post pictures in facebook and other social medias, create your own video, use a camcorder to capture memories from your trip and promotional material for future trips. Interview participants along the way asking them to comment on their experience.

Most important take time to reflect and pray and read from the Bible, to provide a spiritual group experience in the Holy Land.

Step 6 Talk about your journey to the Holy Land

After your return from the Holy Land, you'll be poised to organize regular Israel tours and trips to the Holy Land, and you can make it a integral part of your ministry. Build on your successful trips, by creating enthusiasm  and excitement talking about your holy land experience to your ministry. Take time to thank your participants by writing letters to participating members, and the group team leaders. Write about your journey in your bulletins, newsletters, email broadcast and websites. Encourage your participants to share and "Like" their experiences, photos, and video on facebook and other social media. Set up a post trip meeting, to share the highlights of your trip, and set a date for a new trip to the Holy Land.

"We've taken over 10 group tours using Cosmos and Gate1. This trip last month, 9000 was not very good. -During booking, incorrect information was given about airport-hotel transfers -The whispers (listening devices) didn't work from the get-go, so no whispers were used during the 13 day trip. - Porters are no longer hired to bring your luggage to and from your room. (Very elderly had to handle their own luggage. Our friends had to help many of them.) -A few days into the trip one couple left. At the end of the trip we found out they had covid. Cosmos did not let us know; a few people weren't feeling well and two of our friends then tested positive. -One hotel was awful and not even up to "budget" standards -Many of the stops had castles, churches... but were not included, so be sure to count that in when pricing.  don't plan to use Cosmos ever again. Gate1 is the best in my opinion. When my husband's passport was stolen, they assigned someone to go with him to the embassy, translate, etc...It was above and beyond what we expected  "

"BUYER BEWARE!!! This company has a policy that if THEY cancel your trip…THEY get to keep your money and you get a credit the company. They cancelled my first trip..found out the hard way about their policy. Booked a trip…then had left over money so booked another…which they cancelled…again. Surprisingly…this time they offered a refund, but only gave me back the money I had put down…not what was left of “my credit”. So now I am forced to do business with a company I no longer wish to, that picks and chooses when to follow their own policy!! There are plenty of other travel agencies with similar tours…don’t give these guys your hard earned money for them to keep."

"We booked a National Geographic expedition Holland and Belgium by River. The promotional literature promised a 14-day deposit refund window. The “invoice” was marked “non-refundable” deposit. We completed the National Geographic Traveler Information. About 8 days later we received the “Travel Agreement” to be signed. We both approved and signed the National Geographic documents. A Cruise Line Travel agreement was enclosed but had no signature line. This document contained language which was unacceptable. We submitted the signed NatGeo documents. The following day we canceled the trip due to the unacceptable Cruise Line language. Cancellation was made 12 days after booking and no deposit was returned. We were told on the phone that the refund deadline was triggered by the 14 day window OR signatures on the Travel Agreement which ever came first. This was NEW information. To date, we have received NO refund of our $1000. We cancelled our trip within the advertised 14 day window."

Holy Land Tour Selection Trips

  • Some religious sights require being covered. Make sure to bring clothing that covers your shoulders (a short-sleeve shirt should suffice) and bottoms that cover your knees.
  • Wear comfortable shoes. Israel streets are uneven and you will often find cobblestone.
  • Bring layers if traveling in winter – a light-weight rain coat, a hat and gloves will be useful during this time. This is the rainy season in Israel.
  • Summers are hot, ranging form high 80s and 90s in the city, and soaring over 100 degrees in the desert and The Dead Sea. The sun is strong, so bring a hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen to protect yourself from the rays.
  • Public toilets charge 1 sheckle to use. (More about currency further down).
  • For travel converters, Israel uses three-prong plugs. Their electricity is 220 volts, so if bringing items such as hair tools, (straighteners, dryers) or toothbrushes, make sure to bring the converter. Most electronic devices such as phones and laptops have dual voltage, so there is usually no need for the converter, just the plug adaptor (three prong in the case of Israel).
  • Three languages are spoken in Israel – Hebrew, Arabic, and English.
  • Tipping in restaurants if often around 10%.

Additional details

So, you have decided you want to make a trip to visit the Holy Land. You’re curious about what all these trips entail? What the weather will be like? What are the must see destinations?

What are the countries of the Holy Land?

countries that are in the Holy Land are Israel, Jordan, and the Palestinian Territories. Most Holy Land tours run somewhere between one week and two, depending on the route. If you’re going for a week long visit, most trips start and end in Tel Aviv, a modern city on the beautiful Mediterranean, or in the historic city of Jerusalem.

Common stops on the tour include The Dead Sea, Jerusalem, Bethlehem, Nazareth, Jaffa, and Masada. When people think of visiting the Holy Land, they think of visiting the Basilica of the Annunciation, built on top of the Virgin Mary’s home where the announcement of the birth of her son took place. People dream of a boat ride on the Sea of Galilee, or floating in the salty Dead Sea, the lowest point on earth.

Spend a morning strolling through the historic city of Jerusalem, filled with cobblestone streets, complete with a visit to the Western Wall, and an afternoon following Via Dolorosa, following the path Jesus took on his way to his crucifixion. Depending on the Holy Land tour you select, there are some with easy/light physical activity, as well as some with more strenuous activities.

What is the weather like in the Holy Land?

The weather will depend on what time of year you go. While it’s always a good time to visit the Holy Land, winters are rainy and can start off chilly, but by afternoon, you could be able to go out without a jacket. In January, the weather in Jerusalem averages around 54 degrees F. Tel Aviv is a bit warmer, with a January average of 64 degrees, and about ten days of rain. Similar weather is likely if you visit the Dead Sea, with winter averages of low 70s.

Summers are peak travel season, filled with hot and dry days. Averages in Jerusalem from June-September range from highs in the mid 80s, with lows in the high 60s. Jerusalem averages 0 days of rain during this period. You will have similar weather in Tel Aviv, but nights are a bit warmer, averaging low-mid 70s.

As most tours visit the Dead Sea, it’s important to point out that summers are extremely hot. Averages are in the upper 90’s, and often times exceed 100 degrees F. Many people still make the trip with this heat, but it’s necessary to come prepared with proper protection from the deep sun, including hats, sunglasses, and sunscreen.

Spring and Fall are good times to visit as well, getting between season weather. While you will still average mid 80’s to low 90s in the Fall (September-November) if you visit the Dead Sea, Spring is a nice time to visit, with March and April averages in the high 70’s-low 80’s. Tel Aviv averages mid 70s in the Spring, and mid-70’s to mid-80s in the Fall. Both periods average between 2-5 days of rain during Spring and Fall months. Expect similar rain fall in Jerusalem, but a bit cooler weather, with averages in the 60’s-70s in Spring and Fall.

Bank information

Israel uses the New Israeli Shekel (NIS), and bills come in 200, 100, 50, and 20 shekels. Coins come in shekels of 1, 2, 5, and 10, and 50 and 10 agurot (also known as our cents). One shekel is equal to 100 agurot.

The most important tip is to remember that international travel can differ from what you are accustomed to. This isn’t anything to worry about; that’s why we travel. Travel opens up the opportunity to open our mind-  learn new perspectives, new cultures, try new food.
