If you’re planning a vacation to Branson, Missouri, you’ll want to make time for the Top of the Rock Branson Cave tour! This top Branson attraction is an experience that all ages will love and one of our favorite family attractions while on our recent visit to Branson, MO.

Our family had not visited Branson in years, so when we were planning a trip for my parent’s 63rd wedding anniversary, I knew I needed to find activities that everyone would enjoy.

After researching the best things to do in Branson, MO, I found Johnny Morris’ Top of the Rock Ozarks Heritage Preserve .

What is Top of the Rock? You might think that it’s a drive to the top of a mountain where you will see views for miles.

But, it’s actually a 2 1/2 mile golf cart tour along the Lost Canyon Cave & Nature Trail featuring beautiful views of Table Rock Lake, waterfalls, and a bar in a cave!

Golf Cart Cave Tour Top Of The Rock Branson

We visited in early June. I purchased tickets online a few months earlier, so I could reserve the earliest time available to avoid crowds for my parents.

While this saved us time when arriving, I did see many people just walking in to purchase their tickets.

Excited to start our cave tour on our golf cart, we were the first to arrive that day!

Note: When you enter the park, there is a $10 per car fee payable by credit card only.

Parking the car was easy so early in the morning, and we were happy my parents didn’t have to walk too far to get to the Welcome Center.

Branson Top of the Rock Welcome Center

We quickly learned, however, that we would have to wait for our tour to start.

When we walked into the Welcome Center to check-in, we were informed that a tree had fallen along the path and needed to be cleared away. Plus, some repairs needed to be made in the cave.

The guest services person explained that they hoped to get the pathway cleared in the next hour.

Since the ticket for Lost Canyon Cave also includes admittance to the Ancient Ozarks Natural History Museum, she suggested taking the free shuttle from the Welcome Center to the museum to pass the time.

Gift Shop at Top of the Rock Branson

We decided to stay and browsed the gift shop while we waited. After about a 2-hour wait, they announced that the path was open, and we could line up for our golf cart.

What To Expect On The Lost Canyon Cave Golf Cart Tour

Entrance to Cave Trail Branson MO

If you have pre-purchased your ticket online, you can follow the signs in the Welcome Center to go outside to line up for the golf cart tour.

Either pre-print your tickets; or, as I did, add the tickets to your Apple Wallet.

Having them in my Apple Wallet made it very easy for the attendants to scan all four of our tickets, and I didn’t have to print them out and carry them with me.

Drivers are required to be 18 years old and have signed a waiver. If you haven’t signed the driver waiver before you arrive, the agent will text or email you a link to review and sign on your smartphone.

Electric carts Top of the Rock Cave Tour

The electric carts are available as either a two-seat or four seats depending on the number of people in your party. If it’s raining, the golf cart has a roof; or, the roof can be rolled back for better viewing!

Pay attention to the screen in the golf cart too! As you drive along, the screen changes telling you about the rock formations, bats, squirrels, and the most important thing – what drinks are available in the Bat Bar!

How Long Does The Top of the Rock Tour Take?

The two-and-a-half-mile golf cart tour takes approximately 50 minutes. Time spent on the trail depends on whether you stop the cart at the designated pull-offs to take in the views, take photos, or just continue driving along the path.

There are quite a few pull-offs with great photo ops. Routes are perfectly planned for parking the cart and viewing areas.

Waterfall at Top of the Rock Branson

We stopped at several areas to get out and look at the views but not all. Our entire tour took about an hour.

What Will You See Driving The Top of the Rock Cave & Nature Trail

One thing we realized is if you don’t pay attention, you will miss a lot! Don’t miss all the details in the fencing. They are perfectly placed and very intricate.

golf cart tour table rock lake

The tour begins at the top of the waterfall. As you make your way along the path, you will be in front of 2-3 waterfalls merging into one. Then, finally, you are at the bottom where they all come together.

We also enjoyed all the covered bridges. And be sure to Look Down when they tell you to!

golf cart tour table rock lake

Of course, one of the highlights of the tour was the Bat Bar Cave. The drink menu is listed on the screen in your golf cart and is also posted in huge letters on the wall as you pull into the cave.

golf cart tour table rock lake

Their specialty drink is the Bat’s Bite Lemonade. The drink sounded interesting, but it was still early in the day for us, so we opted for bottled water and a diet coke.

Once you have your drink, you will continue through the cave where we were surprised to see another awesome waterfall.

There are signs all along the pathway where you might need to Swing Wide – be sure to pay attention or you might hit some rocks!

Waterfalls At Top Of The Rock Branson

One of the most fun parts of the cart tour was driving right next to the waterfall!

There are quite a few waterfalls to enjoy during the cave tour at Top of the Rock.

I also recommend stopping at the overlook where you can see beautiful views of Table Rock Lake in the distance.

Top of the Rock has what’s called Dynamic Pricing. The ticket price you pay today may not be the price of the ticket tomorrow. It all depends on the time of year and demand.

I had never heard of this type of pricing for an attraction, but it came up as people were asking for a refund for the tour being closed for repairs. Some were planning to return the next day, but the agent explained that they could not guarantee the ticket price would be the same as what they paid that day.

i love what i saw! we r coming to branson, missouri in november. dates are not sure yet. This would be a good spot to go to. Thank you!!!!!!!!

I am ALSO heading back to Branson in November and plan to go back to Top of the Rock! I can’t wait to see what it’s like in the fall. Have fun!

Thank you for your very complete review.oved the sense of humor you added.

We will be in Branson the weekend of the April 21. How do I go about purchasing tickets for the golf cart ride through the cave and is there a lot of walking from the parking lot to get to the golf carts?

Hi Michelle! Sorry I didn’t see this! Go to the website and purchase your tickets! The parking lot is just outside the entrance to Top of the Rock. Remember there is also a per car fee to enter the park. My parents loved it so much we went two times within a couple of months! If you want to take a chance, you CAN purchase your ticket at the door. Hope this helps and have fun!!

How long does it take to get through the cave? Asking for a claustrophobic friend!

Hi Annette! I am so claustrophobic but didn’t even notice I was in a cave! There is so much to look at! You start the cave tour by driving up to the bar. Get a cold soda, water, or other beverage. Then you will see a very tall waterfall! I was busy taking photos as we were driving through (and trying not to get wet!) but didn’t feel I was in a cave at all! I hope you can go to Top of the Rock – it’s a one-of-a-kind experience!

HOLE-BY-HOLE

As you prepare to experience the splendor that is Big Cedar Golf, take a hole-by-hole tour to get a taste of the courses that make up America’s Nature Golf Destination.

Top of the Rock Golf Course - Hole 1 - Golf at Big Cedar Lodge

Hole 1 · Par 3

The first tee at Top of the Rock, located just steps from the Buffalo Bar patio, sets up a slight downhill par 3. From the first fairway, golfers can see the Chapel of the Ozarks and Jack's Cabin on the left along with sweeping views across Table Rock Lake. The first green slopes gently from left to right and is well-protected by a large oak tree on the right and bunkers along the left and right side.

Top of the Rock Golf Course - Hole 2 - Golf at Big Cedar Lodge

Hole 2 · Par 3

Perched high atop the mountainside, golfers face a 100-foot drop to the second green and stare straight at the magnificent view of Table Rock Lake from the tee. The second green, sloped slightly from back to front, is surrounded by rhododendron flowers and other natural flowering vegetation. Golfers must pass through a unique rock tunnel to reach the back tee on this hole, where the view is well-worth the excursion.

Top of the Rock Golf Course - Hole 3 - Golf at Big Cedar Lodge

Hole 3 · Par 3

After the last putt drops on hole two, golfers embark on a golf cart journey through flowering dogwoods and redbuds along the mountainside to reach the third tee. Number 3 is one of the most difficult holes on the course. The back tee is really elevated and golfers face a downhill shot to a green that's 30-yards deep and cut into a hillside. The green is also protected by large bunkers on both the left and right side of the green. One of the dramatic features of this hole is the huge oak tree that guards and frames the green on the right.

Top of the Rock Golf Course - Hole 4 - Golf at Big Cedar Lodge

Hole 4 · Par 3

Golfers reach the first of three water features when they meander back up the mountain to hole number four near the decorative infinity pool that fronts the "End of the Trail" All-American Wine Cellar. A lake cuts across this slightly downhill par 3 and nestles up close on the right side. The green is protected by bunkers on both sides and surrounded by azaleas and an array of flowering plants and trees along the left side and behind the green. Golfers also experience their first stunning view of Top of the Rock's Osage Restaurant along with its incredible rock formations as they look back up the mountain.

Top of the Rock Golf Course - Hole 5 - Golf at Big Cedar Lodge

Hole 5 · Par 3

A relatively short par 3, number 5 has a small and narrow green protected by deep bunkers along the entire front side. Golfers must hit a very accurate short-iron across a small valley to this narrow green and then negotiate its challenging pin placements to have a chance at birdie or par.

Top of the Rock Golf Course - Hole 6 - Golf at Big Cedar Lodge

Hole 6 · Par 3

This island green is completely surrounded by water and fascinating rock formations. From an elevated tee, the shot must be precisely struck in order to find dry land. This hole offers a real challenge to even the most accomplished golfers.

Top of the Rock Golf Course - Hole 7 - Golf at Big Cedar Lodge

Hole 7 · Par 3

After the island green, golfers must contend with another lake that runs in front of and along the right side of this undulated kidney-shaped green. In addition to the water hazard close to the right side, large bunkering protects the left. This is a difficult hole and par here is a good score.

Top of the Rock Golf Course - Hole 8 - Golf at Big Cedar Lodge

Hole 8 · Par 3

Golfers get their second unobstructed view of Osage Restaurant as they look uphill to number 8, another very challenging hole. Protected by a false front, a huge towering oak tree on the right front and monstrous bunkers on the left and behind the green - this green is hard to hit and a difficult par 3, especially with all the tricky pin placements.

Top of the Rock Golf Course Hole 9 Golf at Big Cedar Lodge

Hole 9 · Par 3

A grand stone entrance and walkway unveils a majestic view of the 9th green and Table Rock Lake in the foreground. Those lucky enough to finish their round here at sunset are in for a spectacular treat! So have your camera ready! The final tee shot is downhill to a very difficult sloped green with severe bunkering surrounding the green. The ninth green also sits just to the right of the main Buffalo Bar terrace at Top of the Rock's Osage Restaurant, which is a great gathering spot for spectators to cheer you on.

Buffalo Ridge Practice Facility

The Buffalo Ridge Practice Facility is accessible for guests playing on Buffalo Ridge and Top of the Rock. It is also open to the public daily. The facility overlooks an expansive, sloping hillside and features Zyosia & Rye grass hitting surfaces. You might even see some free-range buffalo while you warm up. Our Mission

We are a locally owned company based in Kimberling city. Starting Tablerock Lake toys we saw the need for Lake goers to be able to experience all of the fun on and around the lake. A lot of Lake toys can be awfully expensive to buy and only needed a few times a year. With our “pick it up or Delivery” we can bring the fun to you. Family and friends tend to gather at the lake and transportation to and from the boat Dock, and in some cases, grocery store or local bar and grill, can be made much easier with golf cart transportation. In the past few years Kimberling city now allows street legal golf carts on all streets with the exception of Highway 13. This makes local transportation a breeze for those staying inside Kimberling city limits. For others with extra guests, just getting everyone and their coolers and baggage to the dock can be a challenge.

Now you have access to golf carts, kayaks, canoes, paddle boards, etc. to be brought directly to you.

Give us a call or book online for all the lake toys fun!!

Such a great experience for the family to be able to get around with a golf cart. Getting from the Condo to the water with all of our kids and gear was effortless this way. It also kept the inside of my car dry and clean HAHA!! Everything was great! Thanks Again!

It was so nice not dragging our Lillypad and Kayaks all the way to the lake. They take up so much room! Table Rock Lake Toys delivered our fun the day we arrived. They were early at no extra charge that gave us a free ½ day. The equipment was nice and clean. The process couldn't get easier. It solved our issues of trying to cram everything into 1 truck without near enough space. This will be our new go to for the Lake!

So much fun in Kimberling City running all over in a golf cart versus driving everywhere. Grocery, Lunch, the boat, this system was perfect for our family. The 6 passenger cart held us all! However from personal experience, make sure you stay under the speed limit!

Sam Thompson - August 2023

Now I have to buy a paddleboard!! It was great to be able to rent and test out BEFORE spending the $$ to buy one not knowing if we would like it. We rented a paddleboard for the week to see what the hype was all about. Sooo glad we did. Kids loved it, Wife loved it, we all used it. We also decided to rent kayaks halfway through the trip and same day delivery was nice. Also free delivery in Kimberling City! Fun times to be had by all. Super cheap way to help entertain the kiddos since we don't own a boat. Next time we will reserve a Golf Cart as well in advance as they were all booked on this trip.

Susan Johnson Sept. 2023

The fishing Kayaks completely made the week for my husband and myself. We don't own a boat and renting one all week was way out of our budget. Thankfully we found TRL Toy rental and they have Fishing Kayaks set up perfect to get on the water at a fraction of the cost of a boat rental. We fished every day checking out new spots. I caught my first walleye! I was worried at first about tipping over but after a short time, learning to balance even with a small cooler etc. was a breeze. I wouldn't get to far out into the water though as it can get rough quickly. However we covered a ton of shoreline. Cant wait to do it again!

During the 20th century, the square became famous as the site for demonstrations designed to showcase Soviet strength. Visiting the Red Square today, you’ll find it teeming with tourists, who come to witness its magical architecture up close!

The Red Square

The square is the picture postcard of Russian tourism, so make sure to bring your camera when you visit! No matter the season, or the time of day, it’s delightfully photogenic!

It’s also home to some of Russia’s most distinguishing and important landmarks, which we’ve made sure to include further down in this itinerary. It’s an important center of Russia’s cultural life and one of the top places to visit in Moscow!

In 1990, UNESCO designated Russia’s Red Square as a World Heritage site. Visiting this historic site is a true bucket-list event and essential addition to your itinerary for Moscow!

Day 1 / Stop 2 – The Moscow Kremlin

  • Why it’s awesome: The Moscow Kremlin complex includes several palaces and cathedrals and is surrounded by the Kremlin wall. It also houses the principal museum of Russia (the Kremlin Armory).
  • Cost: USD $15.00
  • Food nearby: Bosco Cafe is a charming place to grat a casual bite to eat. They have excellent coffee and wonderful views of the Red Square and the Moscow Kremlin!

The iconic Moscow Kremlin , also known as the Kremlin museum complex, sits on Borovitsky Hill, rising above the Moscow River. It is a fortified complex in the center of the city, overlooking several iconic buildings in the Red Square!

It’s the best known of the Russian Kremlins – citadels or fortress’ protecting and dominating a city. During the early decades of the Soviet era, the Kremlin was a private enclave where the state’s governing elite lived and worked.

The Kremlin is outlined by an irregularly shaped triangular wall that encloses an area of 68 acres! The existing walls and towers were built from 1485 to 1495. Inside the Kremlin museum complex, there are five palaces, four cathedrals, and the enclosing Kremlin Wall with Kremlin towers.

The Armoury Chamber is a part of the Grand Kremlin Palace’s complex and is one of the oldest museums of Moscow, established in 1851. It showcases Russian history and displays many cherished relics. Definitely make sure to check out this museum while you’re here!

The Moscow Kremlin

The churches inside the Moscow Kremlin are the Cathedral of the Dormition, Church of the Archangel, Church of the Annunciation, and the bell tower of Ivan Veliki (a church tower).

The five-domed Cathedral of the Dormition is considered the most famous. It was built from 1475–1479 by an Italian architect and has served as a wedding and coronation place for great princes, tsars, and emperors of Russia. Church services are given in the Kremlin’s numerous cathedrals on a regular basis.

The Grand Kremlin Palace was the former Tsar’s Moscow residence and today it serves as the official workplace of the President of the Russian Federation (Vladimir Putin seems to have bagged that title for life) .

Insider Tip: The Kremlin is closed every Thursday! Make sure to plan this stop on your Moscow itinerary for any other day of the week!

Day 1 / Stop 3 – Lenin’s Mausoleum

  • Why it’s awesome: The mausoleum displays the preserved body of Soviet leader Vladimir Lenin .
  • Cost: Free!
  • Food nearby: Khinkal’naya is a charming Georgian restaurant with vaulted ceilings and exposed brick. It’s a popular place with locals and right next to the Red Square!

Lenin’s Mausoleum, also known as Lenin’s Tomb, is the modernist mausoleum for the revolutionary leader Vladimir Lenin. It’s located within the Red Square and serves as the resting place for the Soviet leader! His preserved body has been on public display since shortly after his death in 1924.

It’s located just a few steps away from the Kremlin Wall and is one of the most controversial yet popular Moscow attractions!

Admission is free for everyone, you’ll only need to pay if you need to check a bag. Before visitors are allowed to enter the mausoleum, they have to go through a metal detector first. No metal objects, liquids, or large bags are allowed in the mausoleum!

Lenins Mausoleum

Expect a line to enter the building, and while you’re inside the building, you’ll be constantly moving in line with other visitors. This means you won’t be able to spend as long as you’d like viewing the mausoleum, but you’ll still be able to get a good look. Pictures and filming while inside the building are strictly prohibited, and security guards will stop you if they see you breaking this rule.

The mausoleum is only open on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Saturday – unless it’s a public holiday or a day scheduled for maintenance. The hours it’s open for each day are limited, make sure to check online before you visit to make sure you can fit this into your Moscow itinerary for that day!

Insider Tip: The Lenin’s Museum is there for people to pay their respect; remember to keep silent and move along quickly, it’s not intended for people to congregate around. Also, men are not allowed to wear hats and everyone must take their hands out of their pockets when inside the building.

  • Why it’s awesome: A dazzling designed cathedral that showcases Russia’s unique architecture. This cathedral is one of the most recognizable symbols of the country!
  • Cost: USD $8.00
  • Food nearby: Moskovskiy Chaynyy Klub is a cozy cafe serving food items and pipping hot tea; it’s the perfect place to go if you’re visiting Moscow during the winter months!

Located in the Red Square, the ornate 16th-century St. Basil’s Cathedral is probably the building you picture when you think of Moscow’s unique architecture. Its colorful onion-shaped domes tower over the Moscow skyline!

The cathedral was built from 1555-1561 by order of Tsar Ivan the Terrible. It was designed with an iconic onion dome facade and enchanting colors that captivate all who see it. Fun fact: If you’re wondering why Russian churches have onion domes, they are popularly believed to symbolize burning candles!

This iconic cathedral has become a symbol of Russia due to its distinguishing architecture and prominent position inside the Red Square. It’s one of the most beautiful, wonderful, and mesmerizing historical cathedrals in the world!

St. Basils Cathedral

The interior of the church surprises most people when they visit. In contrast to the large exterior, the inside is not so much one large area, but rather a collection of smaller areas, with many corridors and small rooms. There are 9 small chapels and one mausoleum grouped around a central tower.

Visiting the inside is like walking through a maze, there are even small signs all around the cathedral tracing where to walk, and pointing you in the right direction! The walls are meticulously decorated and painted with intricate floral designs and religious themes.

The church rarely holds service and is instead a museum open for the public to visit.

Insider Tip: During the summer months the line to go inside the cathedral can get quite long! Make sure to arrive early or reserve your tickets online to guarantee quick access into the cathedral!

The enormous GUM Department Store is located within the historic Red Square. It has a whimsical enchantment to it that sets it apart from your typical department store.

A massive domed glass ceiling lines the top of the building and fills the interior with natural sunlight. There are live plants and flowers placed throughout the mall that give the shopping complex a lively and cheerful feel! A playful fountain sits in the center, further adding to the malls inviting a sense of wonder and amusement!

The GUM department store opened on December 2, 1893. Today, it includes local and luxury stores, including Fendi, Louis Vuitton, Prada, and many more! There are numerous cafes, restaurants, and even a movie theater inside!

GUM Department Store

For a special treat, head into Gastronom 1. This 1950s-style shop sells gourmet food items, like wine, freshly-baked pastries, cheese, Russian chocolate, and of course, vodka! Also, be on the lookout for a bicycle pedaling ice cream truck with an employing selling ice cream!

The ambiance is simply amazing, a trip to this idyllic shopping mall is an absolute must on any Moscow itinerary!

Insider Tip: Make sure to carry some small change on you in case you need to use the restroom, you’ll need to pay 50 rubles – or about USD $0.80 to use the bathroom in GUM.

Godzillas Hostel is located in the center of Moscow, just a short walk from all the major tourist attractions and the metro station.

  • Towels Included

Cosmonautics Museum | Alexander Garden | Ostankino Tower | Izmaylovo District | Soviet Arcade Museum

Now that we’ve covered what to do in Moscow in 2 days, if you’re able to spend more time in the city you’re going to need more attractions to fill your time. Here are a few more really cool things to do in Moscow we recommend!

Memorial Museum of Cosmonautics

  • Hear the timeline of the ‘space race’ from the Russian perspective
  • This museum is fun for both adults and children!
  • Admission is USD $4.00

The Memorial Museum of Cosmonautics is a museum dedicated to space exploration! The museum explores the history of flight, astronomy, space exploration, space technology, and space in the arts. It houses a large assortment of Soviet and Russian space-related exhibits, and the museum’s collection holds approximately 85,000 different items!

Memorial Museum of Cosmonautics

The museum does an excellent job of telling the full story of the exciting space race between the USSR and the US! It highlights the brightest moments in Russian history and humanity and is very interesting and fun for all ages!

If you’re a fan of space or just curious about gaining insight into Russia’s fascinating history of space exploration, make sure to add this to your 3 day itinerary in Moscow!

The Alexander Garden

  • A tranquil place to relax near the Red Square
  • Green lawns dotted with sculptures and lovely water features
  • The park is open every day and has no entrance fee

The Alexander Garden was one of the first urban public parks in Moscow! The garden premiered in 1821 and was built to celebrate Russia’s victory over Napoleon’s forces in 1812!

The park is beautiful and well maintained with paths to walk on and benches to rest on. The park contains three separate gardens: the upper garden, middle garden, and lower garden.

The Alexander Garden

Located in the upper garden, towards the main entrance to the park is the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier with its eternal flame. This monument was created in 1967 and contains the body of a soldier who fell during the Great Patriotic War!

The park stretches along all the length of the western Kremlin wall for about half a mile. Due to its central location in the city, it’ll be easily accessible when you’re out exploring The Red Square.

It provides a bit of relief from the city’s high-energy city streets. Bring a picnic lunch, go for a walk, or just sit and people watch, this is one of the best Moscow sites to wind-down and relax!

Ostankino Television Tower

  • Television and radio tower in Moscow
  • Currently the tallest free-standing structure in Europe
  • Make sure you bring your passport when you visit, you can’t go up without it!

For spectacular views of the city, make sure to add the Ostankino Television Tower to your itinerary for Moscow! This impressive free-standing structure provides stunning views of the city in every direction. The glass floor at the top also provides great alternative views of the city!

Ostankino Television Tower

It takes just 58 seconds for visitors to reach the Tower’s observation deck by super fast elevator. The tower is open every day for long hours and is a great site in Moscow to check out! There is even a restaurant at the top where you can enjoy rotating views of the city while you dine on traditional Russian cuisine or European cuisine!

The tower is somewhat of an architectural surprise in a city that is not known for skyscrapers! To see the city from a new perspective, make sure to add this stop to your Moscow itinerary!

Izmaylovo District

  • The most popular attractions in this district are the kremlin and the flea market
  • Outside of the city center and easy to reach via metro
  • Most popular during the summer and on weekends

Travel outside the city center and discover a unique area of the city! The Izmaylovo District is a popular destination for locals and tourists alike, and one of the coolest places to see in Moscow! The two main attractions we recommend checking out are the Kremlin and the flea market.

The Izmailovo Kremlin was established as a cultural center and molded after traditional Russian architecture. This colorful complex is home to several single-subject museums, including a Russian folk art museum and a vodka museum!

Izmaylovo District

Next to the Kremlin is the Izmailovo open-air market, which dates back to the 17th century! The market is connected to the Izmailovo Kremlin by a wooden bridge. Pick up all your Russian souvenirs here, including traditional handicrafts, paintings, books, retro toys, and Soviet memorabilia!

You will find many hand-made and hand-painted options available at higher prices, as well as mass-produced souvenir options at lower prices!

Museum of Soviet Arcade Games

  • Closed on Mondays
  • Filled with old arcade games that visitors get to try out!
  • The museum also includes a small cafe and burger shop

For something a little different, check out the Museum of Soviet Arcade Games! The museum features roughly 60 machines from the Soviet era, including video games, pinball machines, and collaborative hockey foosball! The machines inside the museum were produced in the USSR in the mid-1970s.

Museum of Soviet Arcade Games

The best part is, most of the games are still playable! Purchase tickets and try the games out for yourself! The museum also has a neat little screening room that plays old Soviet cartoons and an area with Soviet magazines! This unique attraction is a fun addition to a 3 day itinerary in Moscow, and an attraction that all ages will enjoy!

Whether you’re spending one day in Moscow, or more, safety is an important thing to keep in mind when traveling to a big city! Overall, Moscow is a very safe place to visit. However, it is always recommended that tourists take certain precautions when traveling to a new destination!

The police in Moscow is extremely effective at making the city a safe place to visit and do their best to patrol all of the top Moscow, Russia tourist attractions. However, tourists can still be a target for pickpockets and scammers.

Moscow has a huge flow of tourists, therefore there is a risk for pickpocketing. Simple precautions will help eliminate your chances of being robbed. Stay vigilant, keep your items close to you at all times, and don’t flash your valuables!

If you’re planning a solo Moscow itinerary, you should have no need to worry, as the city is also considered safe for solo travelers, even women. Stay in the populated areas, try and not travel alone late at night, and never accept rides from strangers or taxis without a meter and correct signage.

The threat of natural disasters in Moscow is low, with the exception of severe winters when the temperature can dip below freezing! Bring a good, warm jacket if you visit in Winter.

However, please note that Russian views on homsexuality are far less accepting than those in Western Europe. Likewise, Non-Caucasian travellers may sadly encounter racism in Russia .

ALWAYS sort out your backpacker insurance before your trip. There’s plenty to choose from in that department, but a good place to start is Safety Wing .
