Fresh off a once-secret set for Glastonbury Festival last week, Hozier is blitzing across the music scene this summer in advance of the release of his new album. The star has been busy on the festival circuit this year, playing gigs across Europe and the US.

As part of his Unreal Earth tour, promoting the upcoming album of the same name, Hozier is in Ireland this week to bring fans that soulful guitar-man show they know and love. If you’re not lucky enough to make the gig at Malahide Castle, you can catch Hozier in Dublin again on December 19th at the 3Arena as part of his Unreal Unearth Tour (tickets are on sale on Friday, July 7th, through Ticketmaster).

So what can we expect from his outdoor Dublin concert on Friday?

When does he play?

The concert is on at Malahide Castle in north Dublin on Friday, June 30th.

What time should I arrive?

Gates open at 4pm and the show is expected to start at 6pm. Times are subject to change and updates can be checked for here . Bear in mind that Hogan’s Gate, near Malahide Dart station, will be the only pedestrian access to the grounds.

Who is the support act?

Australian rock band The Teskey Brothers , made up of brothers Josh and Sam, will warm up the stage for Hozier with notes of blues and gospel. The opening act is Canadian singer-songwriter Allison Russell .

How do I get there – and home again?

The concert entrance is about a 10-minute walk from Malahide Dart station – the organisers recommend public transport, given the likely congestion and parking problems (clampers and tow trucks will be operating) for anybody who drives to the concert. It is recommended to allow at least an extra two hours travel time to and from the venue. Make sure to plan and book your return travel in advance – it’s a long walk back to the city.

Dart, train and bus: The last Dart leaves for Dublin city centre at 12.07am. The last train leaves for Dundalk at 12.12am. Concert buses will leave from the Dublin Road for Custom House Quay, in central Dublin, after the gig from 10.30pm. You can book a return ticket (€20) in advance.

By car: Fingal County Council will be providing car parking for the concert via the Back Road. Organisers advise pre-booking parking from Marathon Coaches here for €25. Illegal parking in areas surrounding Malahide Castle and in local estates will be subject to clamping or being towed.

• Driving from the south: Take the M50, leave the motorway at junction three (signposted M1 Belfast/Airport), continuing on to the R139. At the roundabout take the second exit, continuing on the R139 for 2.6km. Turn left on to Malahide Road/R107. Continue for 4.2km, then take a right on to Back Road. Follow the signs for the car parks, which will be on your left.
• From the north: Take the M1, leave the motorway at junction four (signposted R132 Swords/Malahide/Donabate). Keep right, merging on to the R132. At the roundabout take the second exit, keeping on the R132. At the next roundabout take the second exit, staying on R132. Take a slight left, merging on to Swords Road/R106 and continue for 2.9km. Turn right on to Dublin Road/R107, continue for 700m and then turn left on to Back Road. Follow the signs for the car parks, which will be on your left.

What will he play?

At a small gig at the Gleneagle INEC arena, Killarney, on Tuesday, the star played a mix of songs old and new. So you can expect the gig to look something like this:

Yes. At the time of writing there are still tickets available to purchase at ticketmaster.ie . Buy tickets from accredited sources only.

What’s the story with security?

Under-16s must be accompanied by an adult; bring your passport, Garda age card or driving licence as evidence of your date of birth. Allow time for security checks on the way in. Bags larger than A4 size will not be permitted and all bags may be searched, and this can be time-consuming so consider going bagless for easier entry. There will be no cloakroom or storage facilities. No umbrellas, alcohol, garden furniture, selfie sticks, flares, glasses or cans, among other items, will be allowed into the event.

Can I take photographs at the concert?

Yes, but only with a smartphone or small camera. Professional cameras with a detachable lens and any other recording equipment are banned.

What’s the weather forecast?

Met Éireann is forecasting a dull, overcast and muggy day with intermittent rain. Highest temperatures of 19 degrees. Perhaps a rain jacket wouldn’t go amiss.

Hozier announces Dublin gig at 3Arena as part of ‘Unreal Unearth’ tour

The announcement comes on the day of the Irish musician’s Malahide Castle show.

Hozier has today announced a date in  Dublin’s 3Arena on December 19, 2023  as part of his Unreal Unearth Tour, as well as a night in Belfast’s The SSE Arena, on December 17.  Special guests on the tour will be Brixton 5 piece band The Last Dinner Party.

The announcement comes just a week after the Irish musician took to the stage at Glastonbury for a  surprise gig  alongside the release of his new single ‘Unknown / Nth’.

The Wicklow man will play Malahide Castle in Dublin tonight, Friday, June 30, where he will be joined by The Teskey Brothers and Allison Russell as special guests.

Tickets for Hozier’s 3Arena show are priced from €44.90 and go on general sale at  9am  on  Friday, July 7  and will be available from Ticketmaster.

Hozier released his EP ‘Eat Your Young’ in March of this year, after a four year hiatus, which featured ‘All Things End,’ and ‘Through Me (The Flood)’ alongside the title track.

His upcoming long-awaited third album ‘Unreal Unearth’ is set to be released on August 18 and will feature the likes of singles ‘Unknown / Nth’, ‘Francesca’, ‘All Things End’ and ‘Eat Your Young’.

Hozier’s previous two albums enjoyed incredible global success, with his self-titled debut hitting #2 on the Billboard Top 200 (the second biggest debut album of the year) and spending an incredible 441 weeks in the Irish Top 50 charts.

His sophomore release ‘Wasteland, Baby!’ was also released to massive critical acclaim in March 2019, entering the US Billboard Top 200 Chart at #1 and going multi-platinum.

Hozier has announced a series huge dates in UK & Ireland next year.

The Irish singer-songwriter will embark on his Unreal Unearth Tour with dates, which include a homecoming show in Dublin's Marlay Park on Friday 5th July and London's Finsbury Park on Sunday 7th July 2024.

The dates, which will see support from special guests Brittany Howard & Lord Huron, will mark Hozier's biggest UK and Irish headline shows ever.

They will follow an existing run of July dates behind new album 'Unreal Unearth'

Hozier has announced details of a 2023 UK and Ireland headline tour – get full details below and buy tickets here .

The new dates will follow an existing run of July dates and come ahead of the Irish singer’s new album ‘Unreal Unearth’.

The new album will come out on August 18 and was recently previewed by new single ‘Francesca’.

After his summer tour and a run of US dates in September, Hozier will now play gigs in Europe and the UK in November and December.

Hozier Has Just Announced 5 Irish Tour Dates

Gutted you missed out on Hozier’s sold-out shows? All is not lost – Hozier has just announced a European tour, where he will be playing five dates in both Ireland and Northern Ireland from the 15th to the 20th of December.

Bray native Hozier has achieved unbelievable success worldwide for his melodic hits, including ‘Take Me To Church’ and ‘Cherry Wine’, and has dominated the charts with his soulful and rich sound. Hozier is featured on Ireland’s Biggest Irish Artist Albums of 2018 and still maintains a large fan base, despite not releasing an album since 2014. Fans of Hozier have been eagerly awaiting new material from the artist over the last four years, and with the release of his four track EP, ‘Nina Cried Power’, excitement is building for his forthcoming album.

Although fans have not been provided with an album title or release date, Hozier has promised that the wait will soon be over. The artist stated on Twitter: “The completion of the record is approaching and I’m eager to share it. Sincere thanks to you for your continued support. Hope to see you on the road again.” In addition to this, Hozier announced that the album is influenced “quite a bit” by the sociopolitical climate over the last 12-18 months, but has assured fans that the album incorporates a “hopeful and very warm” sound.

In addition to this, Hozier outlined that one song in particular features a more experimental sound, describing ‘Wasteland, Baby!’ as a “little folk ditty”, adding that it is “kind of a funny love song to somebody imagining the world as it is now and then imagining the worst case scenario and trying to enjoy, trying to still find joy and still find something worthwhile in the absolute worst case scenarios.”

Hozier is among the guests on Friday’s Late Late Show with Ryan Tubridy.

The Wicklow musician, singer and songwriter will perform a world-exclusive of two brand new songs.

He will also sit down to chat about his new EP Eat Your Young, how he celebrated 10 years since the release of Take Me To Church and his plans for a busy summer of touring.

The 33-year-old, whose real name is Andrew John Hozier-Byrne, joins a star-studded line-up which includes Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul actor Bob Odenkirk and author, broadcaster, and podcaster Stefanie Preissner

Hozier has been busy in recent weeks, playing a string of live rehearsal shows in Dublin’s Academy ahead of his upcoming tour, which includes dates in Dublin’s Malahide Castle and the Gleneagle INEC Arena in Kerry this June.

Here’s a glimpse inside Hozier’s life

Andrew John Hozier-Byrne, born on St Patrick’s Day, March 17, 1990 and grew up in Delgany, near Bray in Co Wicklow. He’s the son of Raine Hozier-Byrne, an artist, and John Byrne, a blues drummer who had a day job working at a bank.

He was educated at Delgany National School. His parents were raised Catholics but converted to the Quaker faith. Despite this, he later attended the Catholic St Gerard's School before studying music education at Trinity College Dublin.

Hozier taught himself guitar, began writing songs at the age of 15, and sang in the school choir.

Music career

Hozier’s music primarily draws from folk, soul, and blues, often using religious and literary themes. He had his international breakthrough after releasing his debut single ‘Take Me to Church’, which has been certified multi-platinum in several countries.

He released his debut EP in 2013, featuring ‘Take Me to Church’, which became a rock radio hit in the US and peaked at number two on the Billboard Hot 100.

His debut studio album was released in September 2014 to critical acclaim. It has been certified 6× platinum in Ireland and multi-platinum in several countries.

In September 2018, he released an EP titled Nina Cried Power and featured the title track as a single, reaching number one on the Billboard Adult Alternative Songs chart.

He released his second album Wasteland, Baby! in March 2019, which debuted atop the Irish Albums Chart and the Billboard 200, and has since been certified gold in the US.

On 31 December 2021, Hozier announced his upcoming album, stating on Twitter "Unreal Unearth will start to find its way to your ears next year, come hell or high water". He released two singles and then released the EP Eat Your Young in March of this year.

Luxury home

Hozier bought a historic house near the town of Newcastle in Co Wicklow in 2015. It’s reported that he forked out nearly €800,000 for the four-bedroomed home which dates back to the 18th century.

In an interview published with the Greystones Guide, he said: “It’s like a dream comes true. I could have lived in New York, or LA, or stayed in Bray, but I chose to get away from all the hustle and bustle, so I could concentrate on writing.”

Romance rumours

Hozier is a notoriously private person and has never publicly confirmed a relationship.

Last October, Irish singer Lyra revealed that she apologised to Hozier’s unnamed girlfriend, after a photo of them at a wedding went viral earlier this year.

In the past, Hozier has been linked to Irish actress Saoirse Ronan. The pair worked on the video for Hozier's song Cherry Wine and are said to have grown close during that time.

It was reported that the pair went on "a string of secret dates” but this has not been confirmed.

Disgusting former job

Hozier once worked a job scrubbing toilets at a golf course, which he described as a "good experience of hard work".

Answering questions from fans on The Guardian, he explained: “I once scrubbed toilets in a golf club. Good people. A good experience of hard work. But I have to say, scrubbing showers would give me a profound respect for people who do that for a living. Showers are far worse than toilets.”

According to Celebrity Net Worth, Hozier has a net worth of $6 million which is around €5.43 million.

One of indie folk's long-tenured stars, Hozier, is setting course for a massive tour come 2024.

Following the release of his highly anticipated record, which is also the namesake of the tour, as well as his highly successful 2023 run of shows, the Irish tunesmith has added a slew of new dates to satiate his rabid fanbase.

After starting his new year with a few festival slots, including Innings Festival 2024 and High Waters Festival 2024 , the second leg of his Unreal Unearth Tour will kick off on April 20 in Raleigh, North Carolina.

From there, he'll make stops all around the U.S. in Mississippi, Texas, Alabama, Florida, Maine, Ohio, Oklahoma, Wisconsin, Nebraska, Montana, Washington and more. The trek will conclude with three nights at the iconic Kia Forum in Inglewood, California.

Along the way, Canadian singer-songwriter, Allison Russell, will be serving as support.

Come fall, Hozier will also make a brief trip up north of the border, hitting a handful of cities in Canada, including Winnipeg, Calgary, Edmonton and more.

American fans will be looking forward to hearing cuts from the new Unreal Unearth album, as well as his many beloved hits, including 'Take Me To Church', 'Work Song', 'Cherry Wine' and more.

This summer, in the midst of playing an astounding four nights at the Forest Hills Stadium in Forest Hills, New York, Hozier will also be featured on a long list of high-key festivals.

Among them will be Boston Calling Festival 2024 , Railbird Music Festival 2024 , Lytham Festival 2024, Hinterland 2024 and New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival 2024, to name a few.

Hozier has announced brand new 2024 US tour dates with tickets going on sale next week. The Irish singer-songwriter will take his Unreal Unearth Tour extension to cities like Austin, Dallas, St Louis, San Diego , Los Angeles , and more between April and September 2024.

Hozier is also set to headline the 2024 High Water Festival in South Carolina alongside Noah Kahan which takes place on the weekend of April 20 and 21. The 33-year-old Wicklow native recently wrapped up his 2023 run of US shows in Los Angeles.

Announcing the news on social media, Hozier told fans: "After the sweetest run of US shows, I’m delighted to announce these brand new #UnrealUnearth tour dates for next year. Tour tickets go on sale on November 17th, I can’t wait to be back and I hope to see you there."

Tickets will be on sale via Live Nation. The extended tour includes Hozier's first-ever performances in iconic venues such as Forest Hills Stadium in New York and Kia Forum in Los Angeles.

Plus, he will be joined by special guest Allison Russell. Hozier is set to commence the European leg of his tour this month with concerts in Stockholm, Amsterdam, Paris, and more cities.

The Take Me To Church hitmaker also recently announced a series of 2024 summer concerts in Dublin , London, and Glasgow. Tickets for these shows will be on sale tomorrow, November 10, via Ticketmaster.

Hozier's tour gets its name from his third studio album which was released over the summer. It was well-received by both fans and critics with standout songs such as Eat Your Young and Francesca.

This year, Hozier celebrated ten years since the release of Take Me To Church, the hit song that launched him to international fame. Three albums later, he continues to be a force in the world of music.
