Nahargarh Fort

Jaigarh Fort

Located alongside the City Palace at the heart of Jaipur, Hawa Mahal is another significant palace to visit in this Jaipur Sightseeing Tour. Standing elegantly amidst the Man Sagar Lake, Jal Mahal or the Water Palace boasts of its unexplained stories. Built in the 18th century by Maharaja Jai Singh II, it is a five-storey building with a stately pavilion and a terrace garden. Jantar Mantar

Located on the Jaipur-Amber highway, around 15 km from Jaipur, Gaitore is the afterlife-resting place of the valourous kings of Jaipur. It is the royal cremation ground of Jaipur and one of the main attractions of Jaipur city tour.

1. Hawa Mahal

Hawa Mahal (“ Palace of Winds " or "Palace of the Breeze") is a palace situated at Badi Chaupad in Jaipur , India. The palace is a five-storey pyramidal shaped monument that rises 50 feet (15 m). The Jaigarh fort was never conquered in battle, and was also the strongest of the three forts in Jaipur.

The main attraction of the fort is the Jaivana Cannon , one of the largest cannons in the world , weighing 50 tonnes and having a 20.19 feet barrel and 11 inch diameter. As the canon rests on four wheels instead of two, it could be turned in 360 degrees, thus making it possible to fire in all the four directions. Since, there were no bitter relations with the Mughals then and there was peace, the cannon was fired only once.

Jal Mahal, also known as the “Water Palace,” is a palace located in the middle of a lake in Jaipur, Rajasthan, India. The palace was built in the 18th century by Sawai Pratap Singh, a Rajput king of the Kachwaha dynasty.

The palace is a five-storeyed building made of red sandstone, with four floors underwater and the top floor above water. 1. Dargah Sharif

One can spot two huge cauldrons in the inner courtyard of the shrine. These containers have a capacity of 2240 kg and 4480 kg and are used during special occasions to cook sweet delicacies which are distributed among the devotees.

The Material used in building the main tomb of Ajmer Sharif Dargah is mostly marble and gold plating, which is guarded by silver railings and a marble screen.

Every year Urs is held for six days in the Dargah in the seventh month of the Islamic lunar calendar. The main entrance of the Holy Tomb which is ordinarily closed at night is kept open throughout the day and night during all the six days of Urs. This time is an especially rewarding time to visit this holy shrine.

2. Adhai Din Ka Jhonpra

Adhai Din Ka Jhonpra is a Masjid built by Qutub-ud-Din-Aibak, the first Sultan of Delhi in the year 1199. It is believed that this Indo-Islamic architectural site was constructed in two and a half days and it is from there that the monument gets its name.

Adhai Din Ka Jhonpra is the relic of an old mosque which was constructed with remains of Hindu and Jain temples. Though most of the ancient temple is in ruins today, the area of the mosque is still used as a place of worship. Complete with arched screens, ruined minarets and distinct beautiful pillars, it is a truly mesmerising place to visit.

3. Soniji Ki Nasiyan

Soniji Ki Nasiyan or Nasiyan Temple, is a Jain temple dedicated to the first Jain Tirthankara. The main attraction of the temple includes the main chamber, known as the Swarna Nagari “City of Gold”, which has several gold-plated wooden figures, depicting important figures of the Jain religion.

4. Ana Sagar Lake

Ana Sagar Lake is a magnificent artificial lake that is best visited during the evenings to catch a glimpse of the sunset. The construction of this took place under instructions of Anaji Tomar, who was the grandfather of Prithviraj Chauhan.

In fact, the lake is named after the king Anaji himself. The lake was founded during the 12th century, after a dam was built across the Luni River. The beautiful lake is surrounded by Daulat Bagh Gardens, and the Khobra Behroon temple.

The Lake is only 13 kilometres away from the city center. There is also an island in the centre of the lake and it is about 4.4 metres deep and spreads over an area of 12 kilometres.

5. Pushkar Lake
